TripAdvisor is a US-based travel and restaurant website that hosts hotel, restaurant, and other travel accommodation and travel-related listings. Users of TripAdvisor can leave reviews on all listings, and the owners of those listings can respond and interact with customers. From time to time, you may find yourself wanting to contact TripAdvisor related to a customer service issue or other inquiry, in which case it’s important to choose the right contact method to ensure your question gets through to the right department. Owners of listings on TripAdvisor will also need to report issues occasionally to ensure that their listings stay reliable and uncompromised by things like fraud.

Contacting Different Departments of TripAdvisor

Step 1 Fill out the general support form for general inquiries.

  • If your inquiry is related to a listing you own, then selecting the “My Business” option will redirect you to the management center where you can send your inquiry.

Step 2 Make your changes from the Management Center.

Step 4 If your question is related to a Viator booking.

  • If you are an owner and would like to sign up for Viator, use the following link https://supplier.viator.com/sign-up-info

Step 5 Use the media kit form to contact TripAdvisor about advertising or display sales.

  • This applies mostly to travel professionals. For example, if you work for a travel agency or hospitality business of some kind and would like to pay for things like banner ads on TripAdvisor.

Step 6 Email the correct press contact email if you are a member of the media.

Reporting Issues about a Review

Step 1 Report reviews that violate guidelines, are suspicious, or are mis-posted.

Tip : If you simply received a bad review on your business, but it does not meet any of the above standards to be removed, then the best thing you can do is respond to it. A response from management to a bad review shows that you care about the customer’s experience and want to improve it.

Step 2 Report optimization fraud to help TripAdvisor keep reviews legitimate.

  • Optimization fraud, also known as organized boosting, is when companies contact TripAdvisor listings owners and fraudulently offer to help manipulate their listings’ positions in exchange for pay.
  • Organized boosting is against TripAdvisor’s policies, unethical, and can even be illegal. If you are contacted by a company claiming they can help optimize your listing, then report them immediately to TripAdvisor.
  • Keep in mind that no company claiming to have an official relationship with TripAdvisor that allows them to manipulate listings is telling the truth.

Step 3 Prevent blackmail reviews by reporting threats immediately.

  • A blackmail review threat is when someone contacts the owner of a business and threatens to leave a bad review if they are not provided with something like a refund or upgrade, or some other request is not met.
  • Although these are often just empty threats, it’s important to report them immediately to put them on the official record. TripAdvisor takes blackmail very seriously and will do everything possible to stop these types of reviews from appearing on the site.
  • If a blackmail review has already been posted on your listing, then follow the process for reporting suspicious reviews and provide all the proof you have that a specific review is the result of a blackmail threat.

Search for one town and they give you…

Search for one town and they give you another! I have tried recently to look up restaurants in villages not far from where I live and Trip advisor now give you reviews of restaurants that are several miles away from where I want to go. They don't even give you any recommendations in the town or village you are visiting. I have always been a fan of trip advisor but can only assume they are giving prominence to businesses who are paying for publicity. So I am going to stop using them as it is wasting toi much time!

We got ripped off by a hotel in Tenerife flamingo beach mate Costa Adeje , tried warning ppl on trip advisor and they refuse to post it ????? Surly ppl don’t want to be scammed on holiday , it’s like this company endorses good reviews but not negative , surly they have a responsibility to the truth and to the public

Brilliant little cottage

We went to Southport and booked a cottage with cottages ,com (sunnyside cottage in chapleltown ) It was 5 star everything we needed lovely modern kitchen walk in shower and a lovely comfy bed with crisp white bedding. The owner had left a book with lots of info on how to work things and places to go. also a welcome pack with bottle of wine If we are going to Southport again we will defentley stay there

Unethical practices cheating customers out of their pocket

Found a hotel at a good price. Tried to pay multiple times. Payment wasn't going through. Phoned them up and they said price increased by £400. This leaves a very sour taste and whilst I paid this time, I won't be ever using the same provider again. It's really short sighted and they should be ashamed of such a unethical practice.

Visiting the Vatican Museum and the Sistine chapel

Dear Trip Advisor My sister and I went to Rome in April and booked in to visit the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel on 24th April in the afternoon. Our guide Giovanni was a trip advisor employee; he was fantastic, so enthusiastic and knowledgeable with good command of English. The entire group thought he was amazing, and we felt very blessed to have him as our guide. Just thought you ought to know how great he was. What was quite funny was that other guides kept telling him to stop talking so much as he was holding them up ! - jealous? I do not know but my sister,Hilary, and I really thought we were so lucky to have him as the guide leader. We would hope to have him on our next visit.

TA censoring negative reviews

I have over 700 reviews on TA, but recently they have been blocking legitimate reviews for unclear reasons - I just get canned emails claiming that the review doesn't meet their guidelines, with a generic list of reasons. I complained to them, but they claimed they can't disclose what elements of review don't meet their guidelines. I think this is AI gone very wrong. I believe one review was turned down because I mentioned it was a "free night" (i.e. paid for with points). Since when does paying with points make a review biased? If that's not the case, is TA attempting to censor negative reviews?

Pelagos Suites Hotel, Lambi, Kos.

Pelagos Suites Lambi Kos. Fabulous hotel absolutely lovely staff, the hotel is amazing. Please meet Bill, a barman that is amazing, a brother from another mother as far as my husband is concerned. Reception staff thank you for all you did to make this an amazing holiday. Recommend this hotel has to be visited to be believed.

Hotel Indigo Manchester

Hotel Indigo Manchester. This is a lovely Hotel. Easy access to AO Arena, Train station, Parking, bus station Shops and Restaurants. Everything is a few minutes walk away. Hotel is very clean, Rooms a so nice, bathroom, beds comfortable. Room was decorated in lovely shade of blue. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely stay again when we go to another concert. Excellent experience. Thank you

Won't let me post a review

Won't let me post a review, they just keep emailing me to say we cannot post your review because it doesn't fit our guidelines with a generic list of reasons. I've tried re-wording it, making it longer, shorter, and less specific. I even added a photo of my visit and they still won't allow it. And to top of off, there's not an "I think this was a mistake" button or anything. They just assume they are 100% correct all the time.

Outrageous price for lunch!

Outrageous price for lunch! Stopped at plockton for a light lunch maybe soup and found a fish soup on this menu for food from the bar ordered at the bar....£19.50! A burger was £18.50!!! Who are they catering for? Could not see any justification for this price and left! Sad as it looked a lovely place.

Lunch at the Cryer Arts centre

We had lunch at the Cryer Arts centre in Carshalton, Surrey. It was fabulous! The roast potatoes on my dinner were the best I have tasted since my mothers. The roast beef was soft and so tasty. The six various vegetables were perfectly cooked and the yorkshire pudding was enormous! The starter choices were excellent, I had humous with pitta, just a little too much since the main course was so perfect. We will be returning.

Tripadvisor sends you lots of spam under the title of the place you stayed

I fill out a review for a place a stayed at they asked to leave a review on tripadvisor, it was nice so I was happy to do the review this was all via booking.com. I'm now getting inundated with tripadvisor stuff at first it seem to come from the place I stayed at I complained to them about all the emails they said it was tripadvisor and I need to unsubscripe to tripadvisor however doing this I'm still getting emails from tripadvisor via booking.com headed with the place I stayed at. I've deleted the tripadvisor account and it's still happening. My advice do not use tripadvisor unless you like to get a load of erelevant emails

Awful search.

The problem with TripAdvisor is that they've sold out to companies who pay them. A search for restaurants in Quarteira, Portugal finds hundreds of restaurants, most of which are 10-20km away from the town. It's almost impossible to find local restaurants among the distant sponsors. [Edit:] I've just read their reply (below). It seems to me that if they don't bother to read the comments here, let alone learn from them, why would comments repeated on their own site be any different?

Never trust a TripAdvisor review ever again

TripAdvisor decided not to approve my truthful account of our stay at a Hilton Hotel. So basically this is further proof TripAdvisor ratings and reviews are engineered for the benefit of those who earn off the back of it. Reply on here even seem automated. Having read quite a few reviews about TripAdvisor on here, it seems they can't even be bothered to write genuine, heartfelt replies. All their replies to the bad reviews seems to be the same... "We have read your reply several times" why do they need to read a reply several times, don't they get it first time? Seems like TripAdvisor, along with many other massive website-based companies, have become faceless organisations who do not care anymore. Awaiting TripAdvisor's generic reply..
