Best time to go

Namibia is indeed a true year-round travel destination , characterized by its typical semi-desert climate and two distinct seasons . Choosing the best month to visit depends on your priorities, and each season offers a unique experience.

The dry winter months from May to October are usually the best time for wildlife viewing, especially in Etosha, as animals are drawn to waterholes so you can spot them easier. The weather is sunny during the day (20°C to 30°C) and can get below freezing at night, especially in the desert. Bring warm clothes and additional layers for morning and evening activities. June to August are the coldest, but it's perfect for stargazing due to the clear skies. These months are also peak tourist season, so expect higher prices and book your flights and accommodation as far in advance as possible.

The rainy summer from November to March is the best time to see migratory birds, new-born animals, desert flowers and to enjoy the greener vegetation. The weather is hot and humid (up to 45°C) with occasional thunderstorms and potential floodings, but you can take advantage of fewer visitors and off-season rates.

Namibia Travel Q&A

Setting off on an adventure to a new country is an exciting experience that also comes with a set of questions. In the following section, we've addressed the most common travel topics related to Namibia, from getting there and transportation to understanding local customs and ensuring health and safety during your trip.

How do I get to Namibia?

  • Discover Airlines (Lufthansa) from Frankfurt (FRA)
  • Qatar Airways from Doha (DOH)
  • Ethiopian Airlines from Addis Abbeba (ADD)

Hosea Kutako Airport is relatively small, ensuring a smooth and straightforward arrival experience. Located about 45 kilometers from Windhoek, visitors have the choice of using a shuttle service or renting a car directly at the airport. Many accommodations offer pre-arranged pick-up services from the airport.

When entering Namibia by land from South Africa or Botswana, ensure you have all necessary paperwork ready, including a letter of authority from the rental car company, visas, and relevant identification or vehicle documents. We advice to verify these requirements and check the operating hours of border posts in advance. Usually these border-crossings are straightforward, but be prepared for potential delays at the border due to processing times or queues.

Opting to drive from Cape Town to Namibia is a scenic and adventurous route, though be mindful that car rental options may be limited and one-way fees can be significant.

What are the visa requirements for Namibia?

How long should I plan to stay in Namibia?

The duration of your Namibia trip largely depends on your available time, budget and the places you wish to explore. Our recommended timeframe to cover some of the most significant parts of Namibia (Etosha, Damaraland, and Sossusvlei), would be approximately 2-3 weeks. This allows for a comprehensive experience of the country's varied landscapes and wildlife.

Is Namibia a good choice for someone's first visit to Africa?

Namibia is a fantastic choice for a first-time visit to Africa, combining safety, accessibility, and a unique array of attractions. While it's often overlooked compared to neighbors like South Africa ( Kruger ) and Botswana, Namibia offers an exceptional experience. Namibia boasts diverse landscapes, from the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei and the eerie Skeleton Coast to the incredible wildlife in Etosha National Park. Sure, you'll need a bit of an adventurous spirit to navigate the distances, but the journey is part of the fun. Namibia is not just about stunning views; it's welcoming and safe, making it a perfect intro to this incredible continent. English is widely spoken, easing communication for many travelers, and the country is known for its good infrastructure, which supports self-drive tours.

Is Namibia a safe country to travel?

Do I need a yellow fever vaccination for Namibia?

Is Namibia a malaria-risk country?

The northern parts of Namibia, particularly the areas near the Angola border, are considered malaria risk zones. This risk is higher during and just after the rainy season, which runs from November to April. Apart from medication, we recommended to use insect repellent, wear long-sleeved clothing during the evening and nighttime, and sleep under a treated mosquito net. Before traveling, consult with a travel clinic or your healthcare provider about the need for malaria prophylaxis. Malaria medications often have side effects, so it's a good idea to discuss these with your doctor. Even if you take preventive medication, be vigilant for symptoms after returning from your trip, as Malaria can manifest many weeks after exposure.

How much should I tip in Namibia?

Tipping is customary in Namibia for good service but is generally left to the discretion of the individual. Most lodges have a communal tipping box for all the staff. Tips are then distributed evenly amongst staff members.

A recommended amount is N$100 – N$200 per guest, per day, which can be placed in this box. For those who guide your game drives or walks, N$200 – N$500 per guest, per day is a good amount. If there's a tracker helping spot wildlife, a similar amount is appropriate. Always tip in Namibian dollars (N$), the equivalent in South African Rand, or US-Dollars.

What are the spoken languages in Namibia?

English is the official language in Namibia, used in schools, government, and the media, making it easy for tourists to communicate. However, the country is rich in linguistic diversity, with Oshiwambo languages being the most spoken among the locals. You might also come across speakers of Afrikaans , and indigenous languages such as Herero and Nama/Damara . Learning a few basic phrases in Oshiwambo can be a thoughtful gesture and show appreciation for the local culture.

How to stay connected: Phone and internet network

There are two mobile network providers , MTC and Telecom Namibia . MTC is known for its better coverage, which is limited to inhabited areas of Namibia. You can get a SIM-Card at Windhoek Airport and some local stores; the data plans are quite cheap but the procedure to setup your account can take a bit of time. Most lodges typically offer WiFi, however, the quality and speed of the connection isn't usually great.

Which animals will I see in Namibia?

Namibia is renowned for its diverse wildlife across its vast landscapes. You can expect to find desert-adapted elephants and lions, both black and white rhinos, and other mammals such as giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, and buffalos. The herbivore population is rich with springbok, oryx, kudu, wildebeest, impalas, and hartebeest roaming the plains.

What should I pack for Namibia?

  • Comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots are essential while sandals or flip-flops are good to use at the lodge (e.g. pool deck).
  • Bring a hat, UV-protective sunglasses, and and high-SPF sunscreen to protect from the intense sun.
  • A small backpack or daypack can be useful for carrying essentials during day trips. If you have a chartered flight in smaller aircraft within Namibia, make sure you check the restrictions, usually only soft bags are allowed to brig onboard.
  • Health Supplies: Pack a basic first-aid kit, prescription medications, insect repellent, and possibly malaria prophylaxis if you're visiting high-risk areas.
  • Adapter and power bank: Namibia uses power type D and M plugs, so don't forget a travel adapter and a power bank for charging your devices.

Travel guide to Namibia

With endless red sand dunes set against a brilliant blue sky, the Southern African nation of Namibia stirs the spirit and moves the heart. Namibia is so large and sparsely populated that it is possible to discover enormous open spaces without roads, towns, trees or even stones, just the lonely desert wind passing through one of the most enchanting corners of the earth. The otherworldly landscapes, the world’s oldest desert, wild coastlines littered with shipwreck remains and whale bones, and unusual desert-adapted flora and fauna will capture the imagination of even the most seasoned traveler. It may not offer the big game of the more verdant African countries, but you’ll still find plenty of big game here. On top of that, Namibia is also home to a number of ultraluxe lodges, attracting discerning travelers from all over the world.

TRAVEL GUIDE TO NAMIBIA: BEST TIME TO VISIT

Enjoying a dry climate, Namibia is considered a year-round travel destination. However, deciding on the best travel period really depends on which regions and attractions you will be traveling to and what your interests are. For example, the dry months in Namibia are best for outdoor activities as well as wildlife viewing in places such as Etosha National Park, whereas the rainy summer months are best for birdwatching and low hotel rates.

  • In general, the dry winter season from May to October is the most popular time for travelers to visit Namibia: the skies are clear, the risk of malaria is at its lowest, and the day time temperatures aren’t too hot (although nights between June and August in the desert are freezing cold). In wildlife reserves such as Etosha National Park, the combination of sparse foliage and the lack of rain forces the game to congregate around waterholes, making animal spotting particularly easy.
  • November to March are the hottest months in Namibia and temperatures in some regions can reach above 50 C° (122 F°) during the day. These months are also considered to be the rainy summer season , although many areas in Namibia receive little or no rain at all. During the wetter months, some tracks in the north eastern part of the country (known as the Caprivi strip) can become unsurpassable. These are the hardest months for spotting wildlife in parks such as Etosha and they also carry the highest risk of malaria.

TRAVEL GUIDE TO NAMIBIA: HOW TO GET THERE

Most travelers arrive in  Namibia via Hosea Kutako International Airport, the main gateway for all destinations in the country (located a 45 min drive from the capital Windhoek). Several major airlines offer direct flights to Windhoek, including Eurowings, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines. Click here  for a continuously updated list of airlines that offer direct flights to Kigali.

It’s also possible to arrive in  Namibia  overland as part of a multi-country itinerary.  Namibia  is bordered by Botswana to the east, Angola and Zambia to the north and South Africa to the south. While visiting Angola is not on the bucket list of many tourist (due to high crime and an unstable security situation), many travelers combine Namibia, South Africa, Botswana and Zambia in one single holiday (often starting at Cape Town in South Africa and ending at the Victoria Falls in Zambia or vice versa).

TRAVEL GUIDE TO NAMIBIA: ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Requirements for entry into Namibia differ from country to country, and are subject to change. Prior to departure, always check with your government and your nearest Namibian embassy or consulate what documents you need for travel to Namibia. Some important points:

  • You need a valid  passport . The passport must be valid  for six months after  entry  into the country. Y ou need one blank page on your passport for entry stamps.
  • Namibia introduced new immigration rules in 2016 relating to travel with children . In addition to valid passports, parents traveling with children (under 18) should at all times carry the original or certified copy of the unabridged birth certificate. The full unabridged birth certificate should list the child’s details and both parents’ details.

Make sure you read my  10 tips to plan a worry-free trip .

TRAVEL GUIDE TO NAMIBIA: GETTING AROUND

In order to reach most of Namibia’s National Parks, reserves and places of interest, you will need to rent a vehicle or charter a plane.

  • The quickest and most comfortable way to get around in Namibia is by air travel . Dozens of minor airstrips cater for chartered plane and most of the isolated luxury lodges have their own landing strip. Flying will save you a lot of time. For example, getting from Sossusvlei to Damaraland will take two full days by car (with an overnight stop in Swakopmund) while it’s just two hours by plane. There are several good charter flight operators who regularly fly tourists between lodges, but it is best to ask the lodge(s) you’re staying at to advise on flights and book them for you, since many have agreements with particular charter operators. One example is Wilderness Safaris , which makes us of Wilderness Air (my experience with them was excellent).
  • Most travelers will  rent a car , which is the easiest and cheapest way of getting around the country. Namibia’s road network is comprised of high-quality tarred highways and secondary gravel roads. Although most road are generally navigable in a 2WD car, the majority of self-drive visitors rent a 4WD car: the higher clearance makes the ride more comfortable and 4WD cars are better equipped to tackle poor road conditions in the rainy season. Most lodges that demand 4WD access have a safe parking area for 2WD saloon cars, and will transfer guests in their own 4WD vehicles, usually at no extra cost. During my trip to Namibia, I rented a 4WD car from Asco Car Hire near Windhoek and was very happy with their service.

That summer season: Palm Beach hotels, resorts offer vacation deals

namibia travel resort

From reduced nighty rates and perks for Florida residents to a complimentary two-hour cruise on a yacht and free meals for kids , Palm Beach’s resorts and hotels are offering deals this summer.

“Palm Beach summers possess a distinctive charm,” Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach’s general manager Mazen Saleh told the Daily News.

Summer on the island is “peaceful” and “a best-kept secret,” Sarah Wetenhall, CEO and president of The Colony Hotel, told the Daily News. “Visitors and locals really have the time to enjoy everything Palm Beach has to offer and to experience island living.”

While summer hotel deals have been offered for decades, the past few summers have presented a surprise paradigm shift: After the spring 2020 onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic, summer reservations at Palm Beach hotels in 2021 and 2022, for instance, soared thanks to pent-up travel demand born of pandemic fatigue.

Doing so at a time of year when business historically slows compared to high-season winter is not only to appeal to far-flung travelers eying a Palm Beach getaway, but also to locals considering an amenity-filled staycation as crowds and traffic dissipate.

Summers have remained busier than usual for the last couple of years, according to The Breakers’ director of communications Sara Flight.

“As business levels have remained strong over the past few years and continue to progress, we no longer consider summer to be ‘off-season’ but more like season, and the winter period on par with a ‘super season.’”

Still, summer hotel deals are on the table.

Here are some of them, which typically depend on dates and availability; certain restrictions apply so inquire when making reservations and check hotel website soften for updates.

THE BREAKERS

1 S. County Road

With four pools, 10 restaurants, beachfront, spa and other amenities, special summer nightly rates at The Breakers start at $690 through Aug. 31, but look for additional savings with package deals.

The historic hotel isn’t currently offering a Florida resident rate, but it features a bed-and-breakfast package with complimentary daily breakfast. This perk can be combined with other offers.

Among other offers at The Breakers: From July 7 through Sept. 30, stay four consecutive nights and the fourth night is free. Stay six consecutive nights now through July 6 or between Oct. 1 and Dec. 19, and the sixth night is free.

“With the arrival of summer, we’re delighted to welcome residents and travelers for an unforgettable beachfront getaway,” Flight said.

THE BRAZILIAN COURT

301 Australian Ave.

With its pool, historic courtyards, salon and acclaimed Café Boulud restaurant, The Brazilian Court, where nightly summer rates generally start at around $399, is offering another distinctive summer perk: a yacht excursion.

Multi-night stays at The Brazilian Court through Oct. 31 include a variety of complimentary perks — parking, a beach experience (with beach chairs, umbrellas, stocked beach bags and more), bicycle use, chauffeured car service — plus a two-hour jaunt along the Intracoastal Waterway aboard the BC One yacht.

Palm Beach dining: Daniel Boulud cites 20 reasons his Cafe Boulud is 20-years strong

“Summer days in South Florida are best spent on the water and there is no better way to be on it than in our new 44-foot Brunello Acampora-designed Italian Solaris Power Yacht, staffed by our own captain and first mate,” sales director Stacy Lee told the Daily News.

Through Oct. 31, stay four nights at The Brazilian Court and the fourth night is free. Florida residents can save as much as 20% off the best available nightly rate.

155 Hammon Ave.

At The Colony, Florida residents receive a discount of up to 20% on nightly rates (plus complimentary parking), depending on dates and availability.

The hotel — with 89 recently redesigned rooms, seven distinct villas, a popular pool patio and Swifty’s restaurant — also is featuring a summer package through Sept. 30.

Celebrate Summer features complimentary perks with your nightly rate, such as daily breakfast for two and parking, plus a $25 daily credit to use at Swifty’s or the Pink Paradise Café or for in-room dining or Colony merchandise.

Reserve a room for three nights or more and save as much as 20% as part of the Get More Pink package.

Summer nightly rates at The Colony generally start at around $499, depending on dates and availability.

FOUR SEASONS RESORT PALM BEACH

2800 S. Ocean Blvd.

With its two pools, spa and flagship restaurant partnered with internationally renowned chef-restaurateur Mauro Colagreco, the 6-acre Four Seasons offers a Florida resident summer rate, plus summer packages.

Through Dec. 31, stay four nights at the Four Seasons and the fourth night is free if you book your stay through the hotel’s “offers” website page.

Meanwhile, Florida residents can save as much as 30% on rates with complimentary parking, depending on availability and dates.

Families with young kids can reap an extra reward this summer when staying at the Four Seasons: Through Sept. 30, children 9 and younger eat free during a family visit to a hotel restaurant.

That’s perfect considering “many families visit us with junior foodies,” said Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach’s general manager Mazen Saleh.

PALM BEACH HISTORIC INN

365 S. County Road

At the 13-room Palm Beach Historic Inn located in the heart of town, summer rates start at around $200 for a queen room and $260 for a king room, based on availability and dates.

That’s a 5% savings compared to rates offered last summer, according to general manager Pricilla Duarte.

The Palm Beach Historic Inn will be undergoing renovations this summer, but the work shouldn’t disturb guests and will be to their benefit, Duarte added.

TIDELINE PALM BEACH OCEAN RESORT

2842 S. Ocean Blvd.

With its pool, beachfront, two restaurants, spa and more, Tideline Palm Beach Ocean Resort, which recently completed $20 million in renovations, is offering a 20% savings on nightly rates this summer to both Florida and Georgia residents.

That translates to rates starting at about $225 a night, plus tax and resort fee, according to Tideline officials.

A 20% summer savings also is offered to first responders and those who serve in the military.

There are other ways to save this summer at Tideline.

Book directly on the hotel’s website and/or book a reservation 30 or more days in advance and receive $50 off per room per night plus a complimentary room upgrade at time of check-in (based upon availability).

THE WHITE ELEPHANT PALM BEACH

280 Sunset Ave.

With its flagship restaurant LoLa 41 and its in-town location two blocks from the beach, The White Elephant offers summer discounts to Florida residents and a “suite” package deal, among other things.

Nightly summer rates generally start at $365, but specials add more savings, including as much as a 20% savings, depending on dates and availability.

For instance, through Aug. 31, stay four nights in the hotel’s penthouse Park or Palm suites and the fourth night is free. Summer nightly rates in the penthouse suites start at $2,225, the hotel’s officials told the Daily News.

Through October, Florida residents can save as much as 20% weekdays and 15% weekends on nightly rates at the White Elephant.

EAU PALM BEACH RESORT

100 S. Ocean Blvd., Manalapan

Situated on 7 beachfront acres with a spa, pools, children’s activity centers and more, nightly summer rates at Eau Palm Beach Resort, located in Manalapan, start at around $599.

But Florida residents save 15% off the best available rate, depending on the dates booked. In addition, book three nights at the standard rate and the third night is free.

If during your stay you’d like to relax in a poolside cabana, guests staying at Eau can save $100 on cabana rentals throughout this summer.

Eau also offers a Spa Escape package (cannot be combined with other offers): With a two-night minimum stay, guests receive, among other things, a glass of Champagne upon arrival; a one-time Eau Spa $500 credit; and a $50 credit for the spa’s terrace restaurant.

I'm a Travel Writer in Miami, and Everyone's Wearing These 15 Comfy, Resort-ready Summer Styles — From $7

These breezy and stylish picks deserve a spot in your suitcase.

Travel + Leisure / Madison Woiten

Summer is in absolute full swing in Miami — and as a native, I love this time of year. It gets a little quieter (albeit way hotter), but everyone immediately whips out their best go-with-the-flow clothes , shoes, and fun summer-inspired accessories. Knowing very well that you’ll sweat through anything and everything within a few minutes of stepping outside, Miami summer clothes styles are all about breezy, quick-drying materials and lots of bold colors.

I find myself wearing plenty of wide-leg pants and flowy dresses (honestly, that’s me all year long), and if I’m running errands, there’s nothing easier than a comfortable athleisure set paired with an oversized button-down shirt to spruce it up. From retro sunglasses and phone accessories to cute but functional statement bags, the trends Miami locals are following put vibrant, tropical patterns at the forefront while helping them fashionably beat the heat. Here are the 15 styles that everyone’s rocking this summer, and they're all available at Amazon starting at $7.

Trend: Flowy dresses

Grace karin square neck floral maxi dress.

Ask anyone in my close circle what my go-to “uniform” is and they will say “a sundress and sneakers” — and they would be absolutely right. I love how easy it is to throw on a flowy (and most likely floral-patterned) dress and walk out the door. Fortunately, the Miami girls are all on board this summer, because I've been seeing so many fun, breezy dresses all over town. Right now, I’ve got my eye on this floral one from Grace Karin that comes in a ton of different brightly colored patterns. Not only is it great for running errands or meeting up with friends, but it can easily be packed and worn on my upcoming trips.

Trend: Athleisure sets

Nova active workout set.

Speaking of easy-to-throw-on-and-go, athleisure sets are also a major Miami vibe when it comes to looking chic and getting out of the house. Yes, the people of The 305 love a workout class and keeping active, but this summer, I promise, you’ll see them sporting just as many activewear sets while running errands and hanging out around town as you would at any Barry’s Bootcamp class. Some of my favorite, super affordable matching sets come from Amazon — like this criss-cross sports bra and shorts duo from Horisun (that’s just $20) or the Nova Active set that’s available in quite a few colorways.

Trend: Linen button-down shirts

Zoye chen long-sleeve button-down.

There’s something magical about how quickly a linen button-down shirt can quickly pull together an outfit. Often, I've seen it over the aforementioned athleisure set to create a chic look that’s perfect for running errands or taking a walk down South Beach’s Lincoln Road. I love my pink and white boyfriend-fit linen button-down from Old Navy , but I recently realized I don’t have a plain white one — so I’m thinking it’s time to grab this one from Zoye Chen at Amazon, which is on sale for $23. Beyond its wardrobe-enhancing abilities, a quality button-down shirt also comes in handy as a bathing suit cover-up when lounging at my favorite hotel pools and the beach.

Trend: Platform sandals

Reef water vista higher platform slingback sandals.

A little extra height and a lot of comfort? Yes, please! That's why platform sandals are all the rage in Miami this summer. My collection of platform sandals has been steadily growing over the last few months, making me more than ready to jump on the trend. The other day, I spotted a friend in the Reef Water Vista Higher Sandals and now I think I have to have them. EVA foam footbeds give the shoes a cloud-like cushioning that keeps your feet comfy for miles, and their waterproof construction makes them perfect to wear from the beach to lunch.

Trend: Colorful two-piece sets

Makemechic tropical short-sleeve and shorts two-piece set.

You may have noticed a theme with easy sets, but in heat like this, the less thought you have to put into the outfit the better (and the same goes for getting dressed while traveling, right?), and that’s why we love sets. Add in a bright color or fun print and you'll look like you came straight out of Miami. Currently, I’ve got my eye on this MakeMeChic Two-piece Set at Amazon that comes in a ton of summer-ready colors and patterns. It'll make a great casual outfit and swim cover-up if needed.

Trend: Wide-legged pants

Funyyzo wide-leg pants.

When we’re aiming for a dressier look here in Miami, we’re still riding that breezy fabric train, but often opt for a pair of wide-legged pants with a bit more structure. The Curve Love A&F Sloane Tailored Linen-blend Pants are unbeatable as they come in several colors and are very curvy girl-friendly. Over at Amazon, these palazzo-style, business casual pants feature elegant front pleating to make them super stylish. If you’re a fan of bold patterns, these Btfbm High-waisted Floral Pants are so cute and come in over a dozen prints.

Trend: Basic crop tops

Cuts clothing almost friday cropped t-shirt.

Simple and basic, crop tops are well-loved here in Miami. Not only do they show off our tans, but they are perfect for pairing with the above wide-legged pants and platform sandals for a simple, well-put-together look. I’m partial to Cuts Clothing crop tops (and really all of the brand's basic T-shirt styles) as they are hands down the best ones I own. I live in them when I travel and they never stretch out or lose their shape. I think I have at least 10 of them in all sorts of colors and styles at this point, but the Almost Friday style is my absolute favorite.

Trend: Small statement bags

Zlmbagus flap tote top convertible handle clutch.

Is there ever a time when small statement bags aren’t in style? I think they are definitely having a moment this summer. Recently on a trip to Lake Como, I was shopping in Bellagio with a fellow Travel + Leisure writer and scored the cutest hot pink leather and straw bag (which you’ll see me using all season). Though I don’t remember exactly where I got it,  I found a similar version at Amazon from Bagkeak. If you're shopping for a new travel bag, I recommend opting for something like the Zlmbagus Convertible Clutch, which has a delicate gold chain strap so you can wear it on your shoulder or crossbody-style if needed. Similarly, the Freie Liebe Straw Clutch also makes a quality travel purse with its convertible design, and its rattan exterior basically screams summer.

Trend: White Sneakers with pops of color

Gola women's tennis-mark cox sneakers.

While Miami isn’t a big walking city, somehow I find myself doing a ton of walking, so just like in my travels, I make sure to always have a pair of comfortable but chic sneakers at all times. But, since it's Miami, there has to be a little pop of color to make them stand out. As expected, I’m seeing a ton of Veja sneakers and Adidas Sambas (especially the Messi ones ) being worn all over the city, but for those looking for something just as stylish but a little different, I'm happy to report that I  just got my first pair of Gola tennis sneakers and I can’t get over how comfortable they are. I’m also a big fan of Kizik sneakers when I’m going for a hands-free, easy-to-slip-on shoe and I love the canvas Irvine style .

Trend: Dressy basic totes

Montana west nylon tote .

When you’ve got too much stuff to fit into a small statement bag, enter: the tote bag. This season, Miamians are loving a classic tote that’s dressed up a bit. This Lands’ End canvas tote is perfect for carting around a beach towel, sunscreen, and bathing suit in style, and I’m really into this straw tote bag from Emgill that has a magnetic closure and leather lining. Then, there’s always the beloved Marc Jacobs tote that’s currently on sale or the Montana West Nylon Tote that doubles as a personal item for flights.

Trend: Solid bathing suits

Eomenie one-piece swimsuit.

This summer, I’ve noticed fewer prints on the Miami beaches. Instead, it’s all about the simple solid, slightly color-blocked looks. I’ve been rocking this bikini from Old Navy since the spring and I love how flattering, supportive ( especially the top ), and size-inclusive it is. But as a true Miami girl, my bathing suit collection is expansive and I’m always on the hunt for new ones to add to my repertoire. Does anyone else feel like they deserve a new bathing suit every time they go on a beach vacation? Treat yourself to this one-piece from Eomenie that's super flattering on everyone and an Amazon best-seller .

Trend: Low strappy heels

Dream pairs low kitty strappy heels.

Keeping our feet both cute and comfortable, low strappy heels are where it’s at. Whether walking from bar to bar on South Beach or standing around at a cocktail party or a wedding, these shoes show off our fresh pedicures and keep us from feeling fatigued. So far this summer, I can’t stop wearing these Andre Assous Neveah Metallic Wedges in taupe (which features a shiny gold strap that looks so good with so many outfits), and these Clarks Serina Mule sandals have also been great to me lately with their super cushy soles. I have a few friends who swear by Dream Pairs' Low Kitty Strappy Heels that come in several colors and are currently at their lowest price in the last 30 days.

Trend: Thin sunglasses

Kuguaok retro rectangle sunglasses.

Big, oversized sunglasses are out and thin, rectangular lenses are in. A forever cat-eye sunglasses girl, I’ve recently transitioned into a whole new shape as I aim to stay on top of trends here in the Magic City. This super affordable set from Amazon brand Kuguaok comes with two pairs of stylish retro-shaped glasses for just $7 and has tons of mix-and-match options. Ray-Ban also has a version that’s currently 35 percent off, and of course, there are the tortoise shell ones from Prada — that are on sale for $260 thanks to a 38 percent discount — if you’re really looking to treat yourself.

Trend: Gold hoop earrings

Besteel 14k gold-filled hoop earrings set.

I’m all about well-curated ear candy. I have six piercings on each ear, and while I keep 10 of them in at all times (to be honest, I don’t know how to take a lot of my earrings out and I leave that to the professionals), I do love switching it up when it comes to my first (and most basic) lobe piercing. This season, it’s all about gold hoops in various sizes. A clean simple look that works with every outfit, the perfect gold hoops can most certainly be found at Amazon. Personally, I like a little sparkle, so I’ve got my eye on this BeSteel set that has a plain pair and a rhinestone-laced one as well.

Trend: Phone accessories

Miami chains & co. beaded phone wristlet strap.

This is definitely one of my favorite and most underrated trends that I’m seeing all over Miami right now: phone accessories. Do you remember when we all had phone charms back in the early 2000s? I had more than I could count, and now they are back. I’m currently obsessed with a local brand called Miami Chain Co. and have several of its wristlet straps and crossbody chains. They are just so fun and functional, especially since I always have my phone in my hand as I document my travels and adventures on Instagram. This keeps my phone close (remember that time I was pickpocketed abroad ?) at all times, and lets a bit more of my personality shine.
