“I’m thrilled to be hitting the road again with The Denim & Rhinestones tour,” Underwood said via a statement. “I’m having such an amazing time with my Las Vegas residency and look forward to continuing that next year after the tour. I’m excited to bring the new music of Denim & Rhinestones to life on tour, as well as put new spins on familiar favorites. We’ve been working hard already preparing an amazing show, and I can’t wait to see everyone on the road!”

Carrie Underwood shares the 'super-selfish' moment in her new 'Denim & Rhinestones' tour

carrie underwood us tour

Carrie Underwood didn’t mind “being in the trenches” for a month before the launch of her new tour.

She relished the production rehearsals and costume fittings (she sports about a dozen different looks) and learned how to be strapped into the “orb” that transports her through the air from the main stage to the back of the arena.

Underwood’s 43-date tour to support her ninth album , “Denim & Rhinestones,” launched Saturday in Greenville, South Carolina, and she'll pingpong around the country through March.

This marks the country behemoth’s first road run since 2019 – her Las Vegas residency, "Reflection," kicked off in December – and she’s eager to bring her massive hits (“Before He Cheats,” “Cowboy Casanova,” “Jesus, Take the Wheel”) and new songs (“Ghost Story,” “Crazy Angels”) to fans.

It’s just another chapter in a stratospheric career that includes 66 million albums sold worldwide, nine Country Music Association Awards and eight Grammy awards .

From her second stop Monday in Indianapolis, Underwood, 39, chatted about her aerial preparation, staying in (even better) shape and her “super-selfish” moment in the show.

Question: How did you feel after the first concert wrapped?

Answer: By the end of the first show, everyone breathed a small sigh of relief. We had a little mini-celebration afterward, but I had my kids out with me and the oldest one (Isaiah, 7) hung in there as long as he could.

Are the kids joining you on the road? (Underwood also has a 3-year-old son, Jacob, with husband Mike Fisher.)

No. For the first time since my last two tours they won’t be with me . The oldest is in school and we don’t want to disrupt his schedule too much. But we roll through a town and will play a show, and I’ll go back to Nashville for the day and fly back out.

Tell me about your decision to do some aerial work in this show.

We dabbled a bit for the CMT Awards (in April) and I was like, how can we implement something else in our show? I love (secondary) stages  (at the back of the arena) because I enjoy seeing everyone rather than just feeling their presence. I had to get back there somehow, so I might as well fly!

What did you learn as a performer in Vegas that you were able to translate into a touring production?

I’ve always enjoyed the idea of having a show versus just playing a concert.  I love having lots of production elements that make things feel unique and songs feel extra special. The Vegas show took that to a new level, since we have aerialists. We’ll be back (there) next year.

'Surreal': Ashley McBryde reacts to being invited to join the Grand Ole Opry

You always stay in amazing shape, but I would imagine going on the road requires more stamina.

I sing a lot of hard songs and I want to move freely and be able to get up and down stairs and wear my heels and change into outfits and stay healthy throughout the touring process. I take staying in shape very seriously for myself and the show. If I were going to a concert, I would want to see whoever it was at their best.

Do you have a specific workout routine?

I have ventured into the fitness space with the fit52 app and I’ll do circuit training and mix in some heavier weights. Some days my body just wants to run, so I try to listen to what I want to do. I do ramp-up cardio before each tour or Vegas, and with the aerial stuff I have to make sure my shoulders are staying in good shape.

You’re bringing (tour opener) Jimmie Allen out to sing the title track of your new album with you. Why is he the right partner for this tour?

He has a lot of momentum in his career, a lot of radio success. I feel like the audience would know and enjoy him. He’s a showman, for sure. He has a great voice, he’s nice to be around, he’s funny and easygoing. You want to like the people you’re on the road with. He sings songs about Jesus in his set and so do I.  And he’s very bling-y, so he’s quite a good fit for “Denim & Rhinestones.”

You’ve added “Welcome to the Jungle” to your set list as an encore. Did you decide to include it after you and Axl (Rose) had your moment at Stagecoach this spring?

Guns N’ Roses is for sure a definite favorite, and we’ve covered them throughout my career. But being around them ( at Stagecoach ) ... I feel like I’ve been working up to “Welcome to the Jungle” for a while. I figured if I’m going to do (the song), let’s do it now. That’s my super-selfish moment in the show – it’s all mine and for me!

Carrie Underwood is flying high.

The magnetic country star, fresh off an impressive aerial performance of her hit single “Crazy Angels” at the American Music Awards, will return to the road for the 2023 leg of her “Denim and Rhinestones Tour” starting in February.

That includes enormous arena shows at Newark’s Prudential Center on Feb. 18 and New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Feb. 21.

Other significant stops on the remaining 25 tour dates include Miami , Atlanta , Philadelphia , Nashville and Los Angeles .

While it might seem like Underwood would be exhausted from her busy 2022— she dropped the “Denim and Rhinestones” album, hit 18 venues on the first leg of her tour and performed at the AMAs— she shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

After her final 2022 headlining gig, she took to Instagram to share, “Already looking forward to getting back out on the road in 2023!!!”

So, if you want to see Underwood bring it live on tour next year, we’ve gone ahead and found some of the lowest prices on upper-level and floor seats for every upcoming concert of her “Denim and Rhinestone Tour” on Vivid Seats.

Some are even as low as $45 before fees .

Carrie Underwood opening act

At most shows, Underwood will be joined by country star Jimmie Allen.

Allen, 37, known for hit singles “Best Shot” and “Make Me Want To,” was crowned the Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year in 2021.

On top of all that, Allen is pretty active in the reality TV world. In 2021, he placed seventh on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” and this year, he served as a guest mentor on the 20th season of “American Idol.”

His most recent album “Tulip Drive,” which features appearances from Jennifer Lopez, Cee-Lo Green and T-Pain, can be streamed or purchased here.

Carrie Underwood “Denim and Rhinestones” album

As mentioned earlier, Underwood dropped her “Denim and Rhinestones” record earlier this year.

The 12-track, 38-minute album boasts monster singles “Crazy Angels,” “Hate My Heart,” and, of course, the rollicking, poppy title track “Denim and Rhinestones.”

In a rave review, Riff Magazine gushed that the record’s “sound truly integrates the imagery of flashy jean jackets and dripping jewelry.”

In mid-November 2022, Carrie Underwood lit up the crowd at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater with her aerial performance of her single “Crazy Angels.”

The Carrie Underwood concert was awesome. This was my fourth time seeing her and she did not disappoint! Lively entertainment with and great stage show. She sang her heart out. As Carrie matures her voice become stronger and sweeter. I look forward to seeing her again. She sang songs off her new album and mixed in oldies as well. It’s a girls tour with her opening acts all being female and then they all shared the stage and sang harmony of past female singers it gave me chills. My one complaint and it was a big one was the stage, I paid top dollar to sit close to the stage thinking that I would have a great view on the entire show. I was totally wrong in this thought. I sat on the third row and had an obstructed view most of the time when Carrie was standing in the middle of the center stage or on the opposite side. At times could only she the top of her head or nothing at all. This was a huge disappointment since I’ve NEVER paid this much for a concert ticket!! They tried to make allowances for this fact by having risers on the stage which place Carrie and the band members up high but still wasn’t enough. I felt even worse for those on the floor who could only watch and see her when she was directly standing in front of them!! The stage was too high for the stadium seats that were around the edges. First 4 rows had this issue and as I said I paid top dollar not realizing that this would be an obstructed view. This should have been stated when I purchased my ticket. People sitting around me was verbalizing their disappointment as well, especially the people in the first two rows. Over all the concert would have been a wonderful experience if not for my crappy expensive seat. I was crying ugly in section 114 row c seat 14.

"I'm excited to bring the new music of Denim & Rhinestones to life on tour, as well as put new spins on familiar favorites," Carrie Underwood said in a press statement about the 43-date tour

After almost exclusively performing at her Las Vegas residency Reflection for the past six months, the 39-year-old country star has announced The Denim & Rhinestones Tour, set to span 43 North American arenas from this fall to spring 2023 with special guest, fellow American Idol alum Jimmie Allen .

"I'm thrilled to be hitting the road again with THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR," said Underwood in a press release. "I'm having such an amazing time with my Las Vegas residency and look forward to continuing that next year after the tour."

Sharing a title with Underwood's upcoming ninth album, out June 10, The Denim & Rhinestones Tour will kick off Oct. 15 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, and make stops at many iconic venues including New York City's Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) before wrapping March 17 at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.

"I'm excited to bring the new music of Denim & Rhinestones to life on tour, as well as put new spins on familiar favorites," continued her statement. "We've been working hard already preparing an amazing show, and I can't wait to see everyone on the road!"

The upcoming string of concerts marks Underwood's first official tour since 2019's Cry Pretty Tour 360 — the No. 1 tour of the year according to Pollstar's LIVE75 chart. Allen recently wrapped his own headlining Down Home Tour, which followed his opening slot on Brad Paisley's 2021 tour, and the "Down Home" musician is currently also gearing up to release his third album, Tulip Drive , on June 24.

After donating $1 from all Cry Pretty Tour 360 ticket sales to the charity Danita's Children , which benefits youth from Haiti, Underwood will give $1 of every Denim & Rhinestones Tour ticket to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation . The organization, which strives to end veteran homelessness and help U.S. disaster victims, has built mortgage-free homes for Gold Star and fallen first responder families and provided disabled veterans and first responders with smart homes since 9/11.

Underwood revealed the title, artwork, and release date for Denim & Rhinestones last month. Ahead of the announcement, the "Before He Cheats" superstar teased her then-untitled album in an interview on Today's Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen in March, calling it "a lot of fun" and revealing she penned many of its tracks.

"I feel like people are going to hear everything and [get] some warm fuzzies and hopefully it'll just make people happy to listen to," said Underwood. "It's a very 'sing into your hairbrush, in your house, in your room' kind of album."

Elsewhere in the interview, she spoke about lead single "Ghost Story," released in March. "It just didn't sound like anything else that's on the radio right now," she told Bannen of why she was drawn to the song.

"And I feel like it was a great first choice first single, because I feel like it's enough of hopefully what people like about me. There's some drama. It's a cinematic song. It's a great story song."

Tickets for The Denim & Rhinestones Tour go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, May 20 at 10am local time. More information can be found at Underwood's website .

You can’t put Carrie Underwood in a box

After a remarkably versatile show in salt lake city thursday night, it would be a disservice to say underwood is solely a country artist.

Carrie Underwood performs on the “Denim and Rhinestones” tour.

By Lottie Elizabeth Johnson

After floating over the crowd on a pink floral swing, Carrie Underwood gently landed on a small platform, picked up a guitar and began to sing “ Two Black Cadillacs ,” a dark ballad about two women who exact murderous revenge on a cheating man.

Following that ominous number, Underwood seamlessly transitioned to a vastly different theme — her Savior. The singer gave her congregation of 20,000 a sermon about the importance of being nice to one another and lifting each other up. She then sang one of her earliest hits, the soul-searching “Jesus Take the Wheel,” before performing a soul-stirring chorus of “How Great Thou Art.”

Seven songs later, Underwood was donning a black leather Guns N’ Roses jacket and channeling her inner Axl Rose with a cover of “Welcome to the Jungle.”

She has 25 CMT Awards , 16 Academy of Country Music awards and nine Country Music Association awards — not to mention eight Grammys — but after a remarkably versatile show in Salt Lake City Thursday night, it would be a disservice to say Underwood is solely a country artist.

She’s so much more.

The shocking versatility of Carrie Underwood

Throughout her nearly two-hour set, Underwood’s music had hints of country, gospel, pop, soul, jazz, blues and hard rock. One song would mimic Dolly Parton’s soft, lilting style, and the next would elicit a rasp that would’ve been right at home with Axl and his cronies. One minute the arena felt like a small chapel and the next it was a full on rock show, complete with Underwood pounding out an unexpected drum solo.

Carrie Underwood on her “Denim and Rhinestones” tour.

It’s a conglomeration of her many influences. Underwood, an Oklahoma native, grew up on gospel and country, but she recently told Rolling Stone she’s always been “mesmerized” by Rose’s vocal style and has spent a lot of time trying to emulate it. Earlier this year, she even convinced Rose to join her at the Stagecoach Festival. A few months later, Guns N’ Roses reciprocated and invited Underwood onstage for a show in London.

It’s a shocking versatility, and Underwood doesn’t hold back. In Salt Lake City, she rose from beneath the stage and hit the ground running. She threw her body and soul into each song — from the first note of her opening number, “Good Girl,” to the middle of her set with the emotional “Cry Pretty,” which earned her a standing ovation before she even hit the last note, to the final chord of her closer, “Before He Cheats.”

With a voice like that, you don’t need much else to entertain a crowd.

But Underwood’s voice is just one part of the equation.

More than a voice

Underwood’s live show is a spectacle — a glittery surface that belies the gritty nature of many of her songs.

In a similar vein to Kiss, the singer channels her hard rock side with pink streamers, fire, sparks and elaborate aerial contraptions to move her across the arena. Her several outfit changes — from a sparkly ensemble to a traditional Western getup to a leather jacket — mirror the fact that she is no one-trick pony.

To make a long story short: You can’t put Carrie Underwood in a box.

She puts on a staggering production, and you can’t help but marvel at how she does this night after night. It’s as physically demanding as it is vocally, and she doesn’t give herself much time to rest — anytime she leaves the stage is for an outfit change.

Carrie Underwood performs on her “Denim and Rhinestones” tour.

But there is a little give and take with this kind of production. Underwood provides a stunning visual component that is impossible to glean from an album. But the intensity of her show means the nuances of her music — like the storytelling quality and dynamics that are so exposed on her recordings — get a little lost. For the most part, Underwood performed at the same volume for two hours. It’s an impressive volume, though, and at times it was still hard to hear her, so she needed to be loud.

The set list appears to be largely the same from show to show. Arena shows are generally well-oiled machines, and considering all of the intricacies of Underwood’s production — including specific projections that go with each song — it would be hard to substantially deviate. But the singer still manages to create unique moments with her fans, like opening an envelope and revealing to a couple in the audience that they would be having a baby girl (she encouraged them to name that girl Carrie).

A proposal for Carrie Underwood

When recently describing her newest album, “Denim and Rhinestones,” the singer said in a statement : “You have these things that are great on their own and then you put them together and they just fit.”

The same can be said for Underwood’s live shows. The way she performs, you may find yourself wondering why “Welcome to the Jungle” and “How Great Thou Art” aren’t paired together more often.

In the last four years, Underwood has released two country-pop albums, Christmas music and a gospel record. When her “Denim and Rhinestones” tour wraps up, Underwood should hurry to the studio to record a rock album.

Based on her reception in Salt Lake City, it might just work.

From Idol to Icon: Carrie Underwood’s Remarkable Journey and Vegas Residency

T he narrative of Carrie Underwood is one marked by an extraordinary evolution from an American Idol contestant to a towering figure in country music.

Over nearly two decades, Underwood has released a discography that includes nine impactful studio albums.

Carrie’s journey commenced on March 10, 1983, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Raised on her parents’ farm along with her two sisters, Shanna and Stephanie, she manifested her talent early on through her performances at local talent shows and churches.

At just 14, she had her first taste of the music industry with an audition for Capitol Records, but due to a company reshuffle, a promising contract fell through.

Before she emerged on the national scene, Carrie competed in beauty pageants and was a runner-up in one during her time at Northeastern State University in 2004.

Rise to Stardom with American Idol

It earned the title of Country Album of the Decade in 2009.

Her musical journey continued with albums like Carnival Ride, Play On, Blown Away, and several others leading up to her 2022 album, Denim & Rhinestones.

Conquering the Grammys and Beyond

Carrie’s Grammy accolades commenced in 2006 when she scooped awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Vocal Country Performance. Her nominations tally stands at 16 with eight wins. Her Grammy legacy was further cemented with a win for Best Roots Gospel Album for My Savior in 2022.

Carrie’s influence spans beyond trophies. She has garnered praise from peers, like Brad Paisley, recognition from Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People In The World list, and has been lauded by Rolling Stone as the top female vocalist of her generation.

Jackson dean to open for carrie underwood at 2024 concert for legends.

Tickets available now at hofvillage.com

CANTON, Ohio , May 21, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Hall of Fame Village today announced the exciting addition of Jackson Dean as the opening act for Carrie Underwood at the 2024 Concert for Legends. Set to electrify audiences, this extraordinary event will take place on August 4, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET , hosted at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium during this year's Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week.

"We are thrilled to unveil Jackson Dean as the opening act for Carrie Underwood at the 2024 Concert for Legends," exclaimed Amy Liles , SVP of Corporate Partnerships & Global Campus Events. "His dynamic energy and exceptional talent perfectly complement this star-studded occasion. Fans can anticipate an unforgettable evening of music, paying homage to both football legends and musical icons."

Jackson Dean , a rising country singer/songwriter known for his gritty, old-school style, emerged onto the scene with his debut album "GREENBROKE" under Big Machine Records. His single, "Don't Come Lookin'," became the fastest debut to reach No. 1 in 2022, earning widespread acclaim and over 80 million streams. Dean has shared stages with country icons like Toby Keith and Miranda Lambert and appeared at prestigious events such as Austin City Limits and Stagecoach.

Tickets for the 2024 Concert for Legends, featuring the incredible talents of Carrie Underwood and Jackson Dean , are available for purchase now at hofvillage.com .

About Hall of Fame Village (HOFV):  Hall of Fame Village , a division of Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company, is a 100-acre immersive sports and entertainment destination centered around the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio . The Village is dedicated to making every experience one-of-a-kind for fans throughout its six venues—Center for Performance, Constellation Center for Excellence, Fan Engagement Zone, ForeverLawn Sports Complex, Play-Action Plaza, and Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. An indoor football-themed waterpark and Hilton Tapestry Hotel are also under construction. For more information, visit www.HOFVillage.com.

ABOUT   JACKSON DEAN :   Fast-rising Country singer/songwriter  Jackson Dean  is quickly earning a reputation for his old school, gritty, lyric-driven, outlaw style of Country. Mature beyond his years, Jackson opted to move out to a cinderblock, concrete floor, one-room shack on the back of his grandfather's property with no heat and no plumbing at just 18 years old. An adventurous and carefree spirit, the 22-year-old multi-instrumentalist, is also an old soul and skilled artisan whose pastimes include making leather goods, wood-burned art and disappearing into the woods to sleep under the stars. Bringing that same sense of adventure and downhome vibe to his songwriting, the "modern-day Country rambler" ( Taste of Country ) burst on the scene, showing people how real music can be with his atmospheric, musically-forward debut album  GREENBROKE (out now via Big Machine Records). The Maryland native's single, " Don't Come Lookin' " was the fastest debut to reach No. 1 in 2022 and cemented Jackson as the youngest solo male Country artist to reach the top of the charts with a debut. Landing spots on the  Billboard Hot 100 , the soundtrack for Netflix's  The Ice Road  and a John Dutton scene in  Yellowstone,  the song 80 million streams. Following an early career of local performances in his hometown, Jackson has joined bills with superstar acts like Toby Keith , Miranda Lambert , Brantley Gilbert , Kane Brown , Jake Owen , Brooks & Dunn, Lee Brice and Brothers Osborne and found himself on the bill for credible events like Austin City Limits and Stagecoach. Visit  jacksondeanmusic.com  for more information and upcoming tour dates.
