To stare at some inexplicable old stonework, inexplicable and impenetrable, at any view, instantly seen and always, always delightful? Oh, must we dream our dreams and have them, too? And have we room for one more folded sunset, still quite warm?” Elizabeth Bishop

“Suddenly I came out of my thoughts to notice everything around me again-the catkins on the willows, the lapping of the water, the leafy patterns of the shadows across the path. And then myself, walking with the alignment that only comes after miles, the loose diagonal rhythm of arms swinging in synchronization with legs in a body that felt long and stretched out, almost as sinuous as a snake…when you give yourself to places, they give you yourself back; the more one comes to know them, the more one seeds them with the invisible crop of memories and associations that will be waiting for when you come back, while new places offer up new thoughts, new possibilities. Exploring the world is one the best ways of exploring the mind, and walking travels both terrains.” Rebecca Solnit

“The beckoning counts, not the clicking latch behind you.” Freya Stark

“They say the sky is the same everywhere. Travellers, the shipwrecked, exiles, and the dying draw comfort from the thought.” Virginia Woolf

“I don’t know how many years it was before I arrived at a formulated philosophy that the happiest thing to do, always, when visiting an individual or a country, is to admit, by word or manner, how much I’m finding there that my life had lacked hitherto.” Clara E. Laughlin

“Come to think of it, maybe God is a He after all, because only a cruel force would create something this beautiful and make it inaccessible to most people.” Raquel Cepeda

“To me, travel is more valuable than any stupid piece of bling money can buy.” Raquel Cepeda

“If Aphrodite chills at home in Cyprus for most of the year, then Fez must be the goddess’s playground.” Raquel Cepeda

“I walked down Paseo del Prado, losing myself to the sights, sounds, and dense magic of the city. There’s something weirdly calming about being alone in a big city. It made me feel like the universe was hugely generous, and that my species was so damn smart to have constructed such a beautiful city.” Kate Klise

“That’s because true travel, the kind with no predetermined end, is one of the most selfish endeavors we can possibly undertake-an act in which we focus solely on our own fulfillment, with little regard to those we leave behind. After all, we’re the ones venturing out into the big crazy world, filling up journals, growing like weeds. And we have the gall to think they’re just sitting at home, soaking in security and stability. It is only when we reopen these wrapped and ribboned boxes, upon our triumphant return home, that we discover nothing is the way we had left it before.” Stephanie Elizondo Griest

“The natural tenderness and delicacy of our constitution, added to the many dangers we are subject to from your sex, renders it almost impossible for a single lady to travel without injury to her character. And those who have a protector in a husband have, generally speaking, obstacles to prevent their roving.” Abigail Adams

“When life gives you twists and turns, Chique Yourself Up in Italy!” Barbara Conelli

“What gives value to travel is fear. It breaks down a kind of inner structure we all have.” Elizabeth Benedict

“I suppose that every wanderer started in a garden somewhere. So few of us are born into motion.” Candas Jane Dorsey

“The secret to youth is to fill your mind with beauty! Amen” Linda Ballou

“I know I am planning to visit a “land” that is not entirely foreign, only foreign to me. As an adventurer, I am on a journey that I believe will last me my whole life. A new relationship, discovery, or awareness excites me.” Marilyn Barnicke Belleghem

“Statuettes of drunken sailors, velvet pictures of island maidens, plastic seashell lamps made in Taiwan. What contempt the people who think up souvenirs have for other people.” Diane Johnson

Navajo Girl

“It takes time to see the desert; you have to keep looking at it. When you’ve looked long enough, you realise the blank wastes of sand and rock are teemming with life. Just as you can keep looking at a person and suddenly realise that the way you see them has completely changed: from being a stranger, they’ve gradually revealed themselves as someone with a wealth of complexities and surprising subtleties that you’re growing to love. ” Annie Caulfield

“People dream. They talk about escaping from it all. Their friends and family diligently listen and politely ignore it when the ruminations fade into oblivion. So quite a few eyebrows went up when I made this trip a reality.” Kristine K. Stevens

“I was 8,569 miles away, 37 butt-numbing hours of travel across seven time zones in the last two days, or was it three? Amelia Earhart, eat your heart out.” Kristine K. Stevens

“Wanderer, there is no road, the road is made by walking.” Martha Barron Barrett

“Every journey has its own traveler. Every dream has its own dreamer. We are all belonged to a specific journey and dream. Some people are currently looking for it, some people are just figuring it out, some people are still lost, and to some they have finally found it.” Happy Positivity

“It’s hard to go. It’s scary and lonely…and half the time you’ll be wondering why the hell you’re in Cincinnati or Austin or North Dakota or Mongolia or wherever your melodious little finger-plucking heinie takes you. There will be boondoggles and discombobulated days, freaked-out nights and metaphorical flat tires. But it will be soul-smashingly beautiful… It will open up your life.” Cheryl Strayed

“Home is where the backpack is.” Savannah Grace

“You must go on adventures to find out where you belong.” Sue Fitzmaurice

“These Aussie girls are free to set their own courses in the world, to meander and experiment. Their travels are not bumps along the road – they are life itself. See the world and then come home and decide who you want to be in it, not the other way around, as seems the general trajectory in the U.S.” Rachel Friedman

“For me, writing stories set, well, wherever they’re best set, is a form of cultural curiosity that is uniquely Scottish – we’re famous for travelling in search of adventure.” Sara Sheridan

“One of the great joys of traveling through Italy is discovering firsthand that it is, indeed, a dream destination.” Debra Levinson

“I want my heart to be the thin place. I don’t want to board a plane to feel the kiss of heaven. I want to carry it with me wherever I go. I want my fragile, hurting heart, to recognize fleeting kairos, eternal moments as they pass. I want to be my own mountain and my own retreat.” Anna White

“When you’re (traveling) with someone else, you share each discovery, but when you are alone, you have to carry each experience with you like a secret, something you have to write on your heart, because there’s no other way to preserve it.” Shauna Niequist

“Butterflies have always had wings; people have always had legs. While history is marked by the hybridity of human societies & the desire for movement, the reality of most of migration today reveals the unequal relations between rich & poor, between North and South, between whiteness and its others.” Harsha Walia

“I find having your own car is like a passport to the world.” Gloria Whelan

“You can go everywhere, but in the end you run back into yourself.” Constance A. Dunn

“It’s something rebellious about picking up and leaving buying a one way ticket and not knowing when you want to return.” Turcois Ominek

“I wondered why it was that places are so much lovelier when one is alone.” Daphne du Maurier

“Eleanor was all apologies, but Sarah enjoyed seeing a bit more of the Czech countryside. You probably couldn’t say that you had really seen a country if all you had seen was a city or two. You had to see where the food was grown, what the riverbanks looked like, and what the highway manners of the inhabitants were.” Magnus Flyte

“A hotel room all to myself is my idea of a good time.” Chelsea Handler

“You thought too hard. Same with travel. You can’t work too much at it, or it feels like work. You have to surrender yourself to the chaos. To the accidents.” Gayle Forman

“Travel is the best teacher. The only way to an open mind is by taking a plane out into the open world.” JoyBell C.

“Travel opens your mind as few other things do. It is its own form of hypnotism, and I am forever under its spell.” Libba Bray

“Though most tourists accepted the occasional comic misadventure, it was important to them that overall their vacation should be pleasant. When you spend money on a holiday you are essentially purchasing happiness: if you don’t enjoy yourself you will feel defrauded.” Alison Lurie

Traveler with Local Woman

“A traveller moves among real people in their own milieu and learns from them, soaking up their wisdom and philosophy, their way of being in the world. A tourist simply hops from one tourist highpoint to another, skimming across the surface, cramming in quantity rather than quality, and comes away with his soul and imagination unchanged, untouched by the wonder of a life lived differently.” Roxanne Reid

“How you live your life is up to you. You have to go out and grab the world by the horns. Rope it before it ties you down and decides for you.” Sarah Reijonen

“While National Geographic magazine had given me a taste of the world, the three-dimensional details of this moment – the tickle of the rain drops, the suck sound of my feet in the mud, the challenge of getting photographs of the monkeys, my immature urge to make the driver wait even longer because he was annoying – would feed me for years to come.” Kristine K. Stevens

“We are torn between a nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not, we are homesick most for the places we have never known.” Carson McCullers

“I ease into the idea of letting go of control and simply let life take the reins. And when I don’t hold it so tightly, it doesn’t thrash against me so wildly. It calms to a trot and allows me to take in the scenery, experience love, and learn what is important in this world: people, places, memories–not things or perceptions.” Sarah Reijonen

“If I were flying, I would travel to a perfect place. A place with frosted cakes and beautiful flowers and excellent trees to climb and absolutely no doldrums.” Kyo Maclear

“Why is it that when Robert Redford-cum-Denys Finch Hatton flies away in the golden glow out of Africa, he is pursuing his destiny? And when I walk away I’m just a chick who’s scared of commitment and on the run, who’s weird for ignoring Glamour magazine’s predictions of my eggs drying up? Learning is an underrated form of liberation.” Holly Morris

“Adventure should be part of everyone’s life. It is the whole difference between being fully alive and just existing.” Holly Morris

“While she was in transit, being unattached was exhilarating, but the moment she stopped, so did the high.” Whitney Otto

“The Chinese say that there is no scenery in your home town. They’re right. Being in another place heightens the senses, allows you to see more, enjoy more, take delight in small things; it makes life richer. You feel more alive, less cocooned.” Jane Wilson-Howarth

“Traveling in a third-world country is the closest thing there is to being married and raising kids. You have glorious hikes and perfect days on the beach. You go on adventures you would never try, or enjoy, alone. But you also can’t get away from each other. Everything is unfamiliar. Money is tight or you get robbed. Someone gets sick or sunburned. You get bored. It is harder than you expected, but you are glad you didn’t just sit home.” Meg Jay

“You’re not traveling if you already know everything.” ― Erica Bauermeister

“See it, learn it, do it ALL.” Jamie McCall

“Travel is a joy, full of surprises. Perhaps some of the most enjoyable times are those where one comes close to disaster: the risks add spice, and make for great stories when you are safely back home again.” Jane Wilson-Howarth

“Travel experiences are emotionally loaded. Often there is excitement and stimulation. The tingle-factor though comes partly from the fact that we’re stressed, just a little.” Jane Wilson-Howarth

“Adventure can be an end in itself. Self-discovery is the secret ingredient…” Grace Lichtenstein

“The best thing about flying first class….was that you could be as nutty as a fruitcake and were still treated like the Queen of Sheba.” Sarah-Kate Lynch

“Soon you catch your first glimpse of a vineyard basking in the sun, its broad leaves silently turning sunlight into sugar, ripening vitis vinifera, the European grapes that make the world’s finest wines. For a moment you might imagine you’ve been mysteriously wafted to the French countryside, but no, this is the East End of Long Island, the most exciting new wine region in North America. You’ve reached your destination, but your journey of discovery has barely begun” Jane Taylor Starwood

“I wonder if the ocean smells different on the other side of the world.” J.A. Redmerski

Woman in Brunswick

“I don’t know what I’m doing, or where I’m going, but I do know that I want to do whatever it is and get there soon.” J.A. Redmerski

“There are people in this world so rich that when it rains they simply fly away on private jets in search of sun.” Peggy Kopman-Owens

“If the landscape of human emotion were to exist in country, it would be in Italy.” Lisa Fantino

“They hadn’t much faith in travel, nor a great belief in a change of scene as a panacea for spiritual ills; they were simply glad to be going.” Zelda Fitzgerald

“Every journey is personal. Every journey is spiritual. You can’t compare them, can’t replace, can’t repeat. You can bring back the memories but they only bring tears to your eyes.” Riana Ambarsari

“To shut your eyes is to travel.” Emily Dickinson

“Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.” Anita Desai

“You have not traveled enough,” she said. “Or you’d know that every journey makes its own map across your heart.” Sharon Shinn

“The explorer who will not come back or send back his ships to tell his tale is not an explorer, only an adventurer; and his sons are born in exile.” Ursula K. Le Guin

“One of the great things about travel is you find out how many good, kind people there are.” Edith Wharton

“Twelve thousand miles of it, to the other side of the world. And whether they came home again or not, they would belong neither here, nor there, for they would have lived on two continents and sampled two different ways of life.” Colleen McCullough

“To live is to travel, on a voyage more epic than the odysseys of myth – not from place to place, but through the poignant strangeness of time.” T.L. Rese

“A subject to which few intellectuals ever give a thought is the right to be a vagrant, the freedom to wander. Yet vagrancy is a deliverance, and life on the open road is the essence of freedom. To have the courage to smash the chains with which modern life has weighted us (under the pretext that it was offering us more liberty), then to take up the symbolic stick and bundle and get out.” Isabelle Eberhardt

“You have to taste a culture to understand it.” Deborah Cater

“Anticipation. In love and travel, getting there is half the fun. The lustful impatience, the passionate daydreams, the nerve-wracking waiting… lovers and travelers are all alike when they find themselves on the brink of a new adventure.” Vivian Swift

“The perfect journey is never finished, the goal is always just across the next river, round the shoulder of the next mountain. There is always one more track to follow, one more mirage to explore.” Rosita Forbes

“Forbes did, in fact, break new ground for women…She was an irrepressible and independent traveler who took risky and difficult trips, braved the hostility of the colonial officials and bureaucrats of the British empire, and invaded the male sphere of exploration, using charm, chutzpah–and her extensive network of establishment connections–to get where she wanted to go. (From the Sahara to Samarkand: Selected Travel Writings of Rosita Forbes, 1919-1937)” Margaret Bald

“We rode through a three-thousand-year-old country, saw the ruined capital of the Queen of Sheba and the underground red-rock city of Lalibela, fraternized with a tribe of leaden-skinned troglogytes living among the mountains, scrapped with brigands, outwitted crocodiles, and eventually emerged battered and in rags with a book of adventures and 1,000 feet of film.” Rosita Forbes

“The curly red lines across the African deserts had the fascination of a magnet, and I hoped fervently that the pioneers who were writing their names over the blank spaces, would leave just one small desert for me.” Rosita Forbes

One of my fiercest passions is traveling. I’m sure you can relate if you’re part of the Wanderful community.

And, it turns out, this is nothing new.

Looking for travel inspiration? Wanderful is a global community for travel-loving women. Connect with us:

Let’s delve into their words, which you might even recognize as something you would say…

Top Travel Quotes by Women

Travel quotes to inspire wanderlust.

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of the living.” – Miriam Beard

I have yet to find one single person who says that traveling did not change them. Many people agree that traveling challenges our preconceptions and is sort of humbling, yet empowering.

Because, oddly enough, getting away from all that makes you be you, is usually where you really get to find yourself.

“Traveling is like flirting with life. It’s like saying, ‘I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station’.” – Lisa St. Aubin De Teran

You know that feeling at the very beginning of a relationship?

When life is fresh and fun and you are glowing with confidence? When everything about that person seems interesting and charming?

That’s exactly how setting foot in a new place feels like, isn’t it?

“To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.” – Freya Stark

Is there anything more delicious than opening your eyes one fine morning and, for one split second, not knowing where you are?

That sweet realization that you could be anywhere in the world… it’s magical.

“So much better to travel than to arrive.” – Margaret Atwood

Destinations are endings. What’s interesting is on the road (or up in the air, or in the deep blue sea…)

Quotes About Finding Home

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” – Maya Angelou

Those of us who travel for life are at times accused of or pitied for not having a home.

But this is an utter misunderstanding! It’s not that we don’t have a home… we actually have too many of them!

“If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad.” – Jane Austen

There is no use in living a life unfulfilled and without purpose. And, sometimes, purpose does not come to you…

You need to chase it in foreign lands.

“As a woman I have no country. As a woman my country is the whole world.” – Virginia Woolf

What an invigorating sensation it is! Not feeling like a stranger in anywhere, but feeling part of something much greater than borders and languages and belief systems.

Women connect with each other across these barriers in spaces all around the world. Our experiences are as universal as they are unique.

Quotes for Women Who Travel

“Now more than ever do I realize that I will never be content with a sedentary life, that I will always be haunted by thoughts of a sun-drenched elsewhere.” – Isabelle Eberhardt

Living in the present is key to living a happy life, but it’s a skill that is, from time to time, hard to master.

Who hasn’t looked longingly through the window and sighed thinking of an unfulfilled bucket list?

“I’ve not ceased being fearful, I’ve gone ahead despite the pounding in my heart that says: turn back, turn back, you’ll die if you go too far.” – Erica Jong

As wanderers, we seek what is outside of our comfort zone. Sometimes we do so even in spite of ourselves.

Fear is a minor sacrifice, knowing the reward that follows: the adventure, the discovery, the overcoming.

“I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads. Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel it.” – Rosalía De Castro

What an unseasoned life it would be if we knew exactly what every day would look like.

Nobody truly knows what awaits, but travelers, more than anyone, seek that extra pinch of salt.

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, ‘This is what it is to be happy’.” – Sylvia Plath

There is nothing more energizing than nature.

Even for urbanites, a breath of fresh air and the scent of greenery now and then are revitalizing.

Inspiring Quotes for an Adventurous Life

“I do not want to get to the end of my life and find that I just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.” – Diane Ackerman

Getting to know different landscapes, gastronomies, architectures, languages, faunas… we travelers pack our lives with the experiences of a dozen.

We squeeze the juice out of our time here.

Isn’t that exhilarating?

“Loving life is easy when you are abroad. Where no one knows you and you hold your life in your hands all alone, you are more master of yourself than at any other time.” – Hannah Arendt

The freedom of the impermanent, the relief of the anonymity, the opportunity in the lack of expectations.

Traveling offers the chance to embrace your most authentic self in a way that may be constrained in day to day life.

“Adventure should be part of everyone’s life. It is the whole difference between being fully alive and just existing.” – Holly Morris

I’m positive that we travelers will all look back down the road and smile, satisfied and content.

We lived a life worth living.

We knew our world was big and gorgeous so we saw it, we tasted it, we experienced it, we shared it, we felt it.

“I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.” – Mary Anne Radmacher

And we circle back to that first quote that travel does, or should, change you.

Because we, ourselves, cannot stay static as we move around this world.

As travelers, we are not mere spectators, we are not watching a documentary on TV. We partake, we engage, we become.

The journey outside prompts the journey inside, and vice-versa.

This was just a tiny sample of all the travel quotes by women out there. They are certainly relatable for women who love to travel!

These women writers are fellow travelers with whom we can identify and confirm, once again, that we are not alone .

My pick from the above list of quotes is this one:

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” – Maya Angelou

It’s the beauty of every trip if we can find the place as our sweet home. When we embrace the nature, culture and the people of the place, it’s a feeling that no words can explain but the experience will.

I’m a professional full time nanny and currently working in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in a domestic workers service providing government agency known as Housekeeping Co. I find it hard to travel during these pandemic days but things are getting better in UAE, especially in the city of Dubai as the people are now getting back to normal activities.

For any kind of travellers, I would like to suggest you that, Dubai has many destinations and attractions to quench your thirst of craving the beauty of travelling.

15 Mar 100 Inspirational Travel Quotes To Brighten Your Day

I have a love hate relationship with inspirational travel quotes. Sometimes I wonder why inspiration has given way to cliche.

Sometimes they make me all teary-eyed and uplifted, but there are days when I just want to roll my eyes and scream: “Enough!”

inspirational travel quotes girl vs globe

If you try to have a conversation about travel online you’ll notice certain travel quotes pop up on an hourly basis. You know the ones I mean.

The world is a book and those who don’t travel read only a page. Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.

While there’s nothing inherently wrong with these, I’ve decided to feature slightly lesser known inspirational travel quotes… and one hundred of them while I’m at it! Go big or go home, am I right?

If you follow me on Instagram  ( do it! do it! ) you may have already read a few of these, but the majority are all as new to me as they will hopefully be to you.

Inspirational travel quotes

If I'd learnt one thing from travelling,-2

  • “But that’s the glory of foreign travel, as far as I am concerned. I don’t want to know what people are talking about. I can’t think of anything that excited a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything. Suddenly you are five years old again. You can’t read anything, you have only a rudimentary sense of how things work, you can’t even reliably cross the street without endangering your life. Your whole existence becomes a series of interesting guesses.” -Bill Bryson
  • “A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” -John A. Shedd
  • “Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.” -Maya Angelou

Quotes that prove solo travel makes you stronger

Solo travel often starts with taking a leap of faith. If it’s your first solo trip, you must actively work on believing in yourself and trusting your instincts.

Sometimes in travel (and in life), the only certainty is uncertainty. Things won’t always be easy, things wont’ always go to plan. Barriers and hurdles are almost guaranteed – but these experiences are likely to make you stronger and more resilient.

These travel alone quotes are all about testing your limits.

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”

– Neale Donald Walsch

“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s OK. The journey changes you; it should change you.

“It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.”

“Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively, unless you can choose a challenge instead of a competence.”

“Life is a journey with big rocks to climb, little ones to trip over, and milestones to mark where we have been.”

– David Cuschieri

Quotations that prove solo travel changes your perspective

I’ve never met anyone who decided to solo travel and came back the same person. Travel changes you – that’s undeniable – and often travel alone can shape you in ways you never could have anticipated.

One of the greatest lessons travel can teach you is to be humble. Travel helps you find your place in the world. A solo trip can give you the tools you need to tackle all of life’s adventures – and misadventures, too.

These solo travel quotes refer to self-discovery, breaking through your comfort zone, and seeing travel as a motif for the journey of life.

“A person susceptible to ‘Wanderlust’ is not so much addicted to movement as committed to transformation.”

– Pico Iyer

“Adventure can be an end in itself. Self-discovery is the secret ingredient.”

– Grace Lichtenstein

“I have traveled many roads in my life. Some were imbued with pain and I needed to avert my gaze. Others were so beautiful that I would have remained there forever. But always, at some point in these routes, I reached a place where I encountered myself.”

– Pablo Holmberg

A person walks across a barren landscape.

• Mark Twain Travel Quotes

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one’s lifetime.

It is the loveliest fleet of islands [ Hawaii ] that lies anchored in any ocean.
No alien land in all the world has any deep strong charm for me but that one [ Hawaii ], no other land could so longingly and so beseechingly haunt me, sleeping and waking, through half a lifetime, as that one has done. Other things leave me, but it abides; other things change, but it remains the same.   For me the balmy airs are always blowing, its summer seas flashing in the sun; the pulsing of its surfbeat is in my ear; I can see its garlanded crags, its leaping cascades, its plumy palms drowsing by the shore, its remote summits floating like islands above the cloud wrack; I can feel the spirit of its wildland solitudes, I can hear the splash of its brooks; in my nostrils still lives the breath of flowers that perished twenty years ago.

Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread. — Edward Abbey

girl who loves to travel quotes

Once a journey is designed, equipped, and put in process, a new factor enters and takes over. A trip, a safari, an exploration, is an entity, different from all other journeys. It has personality, temperament, individuality, uniqueness. A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless.   We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. Tour masters, schedules, reservations, brass-bound and inevitable, dash themselves to wreckage on the personality of the trip. Only when this is recognized can the blown-in-the glass bum relax and go along with it. Only then do the frustrations fall away. In this a journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it. — John Steinbeck
What is that feeling when you’re driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? – it’s the too-huge world vaulting us, and it’s good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies. — Jack Kerouac
A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for. — J.A. Shedd
Do not follow where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and make a trail. — Ralph Waldo Emerson

girl who loves to travel quotes

It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any. — Hugh Laurie
Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the Earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white. — Mark Jenkins

girl who loves to travel quotes

The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. — Christopher McCandless
Adventure is allowing the unexpected to happen to you. Exploration is experiencing what you have not experienced before. How can there be any adventure, any exploration, if you let somebody else – above all, a travel bureau – arrange everything before-hand? — Richard Aldington
Be careful because Cambodia is the most dangerous place you will ever visit. You will fall in love with it, and eventually it will break your heart. — Joel Brinkley

Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. — Unknown
I can’t think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything. Suddenly you are five years old again. You can’t read anything, you have only the most rudimentary sense of how things work, you can’t reliably cross a street without endangering your life. Your whole existence becomes a series of interesting guesses. — Bill Bryson
The true fruit of travel is perhaps the feeling of being nearly everywhere at home. — Freya Stark

girl who loves to travel quotes

When you’ve managed to stumble directly into the heart of the unknown – either through the misdirection of others, or better yet, through your own creative ineptitude – there is no one there to hold your hand or tell you what to do. In those bad lost moments, in the times when we are advised not to panic, we own the unknown, and the world belongs to us. The child within has full reign. Few of us are ever so free. — Tim Cahill
No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow. — Lin Yutang

If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go.
Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life — and travel — leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks — on your body or on your heart — are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.
It’s an irritating reality that many places and events defy description. Angkor Wat and Machu Picchu , for instance, seem to demand silence, like a love affair you can never talk about.   For a while after, you fumble for words, trying vainly to assemble a private narrative, an explanation, a comfortable way to frame where you’ve been and what’s happened. In the end, you’re just happy you were there — with your eyes open — and lived to see it.

girl who loves to travel quotes

Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown.
I’m a big believer in winging it. I’m a big believer that you’re never going to find the perfect city travel experience or the perfect meal without a constant willingness to experience a bad one. Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I’m always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary.
Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds? … I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.

It seems that the more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be. The more I become aware of, the more I realize how relatively little I know of it, how many places I have still to go, how much more there is to learn.   Maybe that’s enlightenment enough – to know that there is no final resting place of the mind, no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom, at least for me, means realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go.
I think food, culture, people and landscape are all absolutely inseparable.
Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It’s inseparable from those from the get-go.
Southeast Asia has a real grip on me. From the very first time I went there, it was a fulfillment of my childhood fantasies of the way travel should be.

girl who loves to travel quotes

I wanted adventures. I wanted to go up the Nung river to the heart of darkness in Cambodia . I wanted to ride out into a desert on camelback, sand and dunes in every direction, eat whole roasted lamb with my fingers. I wanted to kick snow off my boots in a Mafiya nightclub in Russia. I wanted to play with automatic weapons in Phnom Penh, recapture the past in a small oyster village in France, step into a seedy neon-lit pulqueria in rural Mexico. I wanted to run roadblocks in the middle of the night, blowing past angry militia with a handful of hurled Marlboro packs, experience fear, excitement, wonder.   I wanted kicks – the kind of melodramatic thrills and chills I’d yearned for since childhood, the kind of adventure I’d found as a little boy in the pages of my Tintin comic books. I wanted to see the world – and I wanted the world to be just like the movies.
At this point I think my body is like an old car. Another dent ain’t gonna make a whole lot of difference. At best it’s a reminder that you’re still alive and lucky as hell. Another tattoo, another thing you did, another place you’ve been.

girl who loves to travel quotes

Without experimentation, a willingness to ask questions and try new things, we shall surely become static, repetitive, and moribund.
If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food, it’s a plus for everybody. Open your mind, get up off the couch, move.
Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.

Not all couples travel quotes have to be serious. Here are some entirely terrible travel-inspired pick-up lines and super cheesy quotes to roll your eyes at. (Note: Ryan hates puns more than anything and wants to make it clear that he did NOT approve of including these.)

“I’d fly in the middle seat to get to you.”

“Did you overstay your visa? ‘Cuz you got ‘fine’ written all over you.”

“A romantic getaway? Alpaca the bags!”

“Are you a pilot? ‘Cuz you look pretty fly to me.”

“The only baggage in this relationship is our suitcases.”

“If you were a TSA agent, I’d be happy to get a body scan.”

Here are a few more of the best couple travel quotes to inspire you and your loved ones.

“I want to travel the world with two things in my hands: your hand in one and a camera in the other.”

“Happiness is planning a trip to somewhere new, with someone you love.” – Marie Cribaillet

“In life, it’s not where you go. It’s who you travel with.” – Charles Schulz

Charles Schulz Travel Quote: In life, it’s not where you go. It’s who you travel with.

“I would like to travel the world with you twice. Once, to see the world. Twice, to see the way you see the world.”

“I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m going. Are you coming with me?”

“No road is long in good company.” – Turkish proverb

“Never go on trips with anyone you do not love.” – Ernest Hemingway

“I would gladly live out of a suitcase if it meant I could see the world with you.”

About Jen Ambrose

Jen Ambrose was born and raised in Montana, but has lived on both coasts and abroad. She and Ryan got married in 2016, and promptly got rid of their stuff, quit their office jobs, and left their Boston apartment to travel long-term. HARRIETT Blackmore has been accused of having a secret boyfriend ahead of entering the Love Island villa.

The 24-year-old dancer from Brighton is among the new group of sexy singletons starring in the upcoming series of Love Island .

Harriett has been accused of having a secret boyfriend

After the line-up was revealed, many fans rushed to social media to insist Harriett has a famous former Strictly star pal and that she isn't totally single.

One person wrote: "She's one of Saffron Barker's best friends and I always see her with her man. Like literally recently I've seen a story of her and her man, so I'm confused."

And another said: "She had a boyfriend who she put on her IG story very recently."

As well as being a dancer Harriett works as a personal shopper and has revealed that one of her most recent jobs involved shopping for a well-known musical artist.

Harriett also confessed that Saffron - who starred on Strictly in 2019 - is "one of her best friends".

Shortly after it was announced Harriett would be taking part in this year's show, a video emerged on social media showing her having a row and defending a mystery Premier League footballer after he was accused of allegedly attacking a group of women.

Footage of the aftermath shows the group of women accusing the men of “beating them up”

The new Love Island line-up was announced over the weekend and fans instantly noticed something was missing .

Viewers were taken aback when they saw that there wasn't a single blonde woman OR man present.

Several people took to social media to comment on the distinctive lack of different physical types in this upcoming season of the reality dating show.

One person giggled: "Not a single blonde,  Love Island  you’ve outdone yourselves."

Another triumphantly exclaimed: "Wait… there are no blondes this season??? We fcking won!!!"
