Billboard Music Award winners, Dove Award winners and 12-time Stellar nominees Maverick City Music embark on their first-ever tour this fall, with eclectic shows that will feature electrifying performances with collective members Dante Bowe, Chandler Moore, Naomi Raine, Joe L. Barnes, Aaron Moses and more. CDC-suggested COVID-related protocols will be observed. Due to popular demand, new arena dates and cities have been added, with select dates set to feature GRAMMY® Award winner Lecrae.

The new dates include a visit to Charlotte’s Spectrum Center on Friday, November 5.  Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, June 18, at 10 a.m. at  tourlink.to/maverickcitytour ,   spectrumcentercharlotte.com  or ticketmaster.com . Tickets start at $30, and there is a $5 discount for group sales of 10 or more tickets on standard general admission. Fans can also gain access to a presale, which is available now, by texting “Tour" to 404-737-0975. 

In the two years since releasing their debut EP,  Maverick City Vol. 1 , the group has already notched multiple Billboard No. 1 albums and singles, earned a pair of Dove Award nominations, racked up more than 300 million streams across platforms, and amassed more than a million subscribers on YouTube. 

Maverick City Music was launched in 2018 (founded by Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay), after hosting 17 songwriting camps which brought together over 100 Christian artists and songwriters and the result being the creation of over 100 songs. Maverick City Music released their first extended play,  Maverick City, Vol. 1 , on July 29, 2019. The EP debuted on  Billboard 's Top Gospel Albums Chart at No. 10. In 2020, Maverick City Music released their debut album,  Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1  - the album debuted at No. 6 on Top Christian Albums and No. 2 on Top Gospel Albums Chart. Maverick City Music: Story of American Band Set to Hold Concert in Kenya

Maverick City Music, a popular American contemporary Christian band is set to hold a Kingdom Tour concert in Kenya.

The band known for their uplifting songs will perform in Nairobi on August 17 before moving to Mombasa on August 18, 2024.

Maverick City was founded in 2018 by Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay.

The band which started as a group of songwriters working together has since grown into one of the most revolutionary music collectives in contemporary Christian/gospel music.

The Grammy award-winning gospel group is currently comprised of eight members namely, Alton Eugene, Naomi Raine, Chandler Moore, Brandon Lake, Maryanne J. George, Aaron Moses, Harold Brown, and Joe L Barnes.

According to Maverick City Music founders Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay, their initial plan was not having a full-on music group.

The duo had planned on having their song writers compose songs for other artists as opposed to singing themselves.

Naomi Raine, one of Maverick City Music’s first members, said in a past interview that they would write the songs, sing and record them but then send them to other artists. 

“We got together in a room, sang the songs and recorded it to send out to artists for if they wanted to sing them,” Raine said. “It ended up being this really beautiful music.”

Maverick City Adoption and Growth  

Naomi also spoke of how the name Maverick came to be.

She highlighted that Tony had texted her the name Maverick City and came into the epiphany of having his writers sing the songs they write instead of having other artists singing them.

“A week later, I got a text from Tony with the name Maverick. ‘What do you think of Maverick City Music? Why do we need to get someone else to sing when we are already singing for it?” Naomi informed.

Years later, Jay and his team have brought together over 100 Christian artists and songwriters — and that effort birthed hundreds of songs.

Jonathan Jay, described Tribl, the force behind Maverick City Music, as an amplifier to the world of worship.

“The heart of Tribl is to be an amplifier to the world of what worship sounds like,” he stated.

Maverick’s Success and Awards

The Jireh hitmaker released their first EP, Maverick City, Vol. 1 in 2019 which was ranked in the top 10 of Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums.

Their first full-length album, Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1, was released in 2020. That album garnered even more success, landing at No. 6 on Top Christian Albums and No. 2 on the Top Gospel Albums Chart.

The band is mostly known for singles such as “Man of Your Word” ‘Jireh,” and “Promises.”

In 2022, they were nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best Gospel Album, and Best Gospel Performance/Song.

According to Raine and another member of the band, Lizzie Morgan, winning was surreal to them for they had never expected to create as many albums as they did, let alone earn one of the most prestigious accolades in music.

“We started in such small spaces, so to see something small that we had no idea was going to be as big as it was really, really special to celebrate all together,” Morgan said.

Raine added that the success could also be attributed to the impact worship music has in the world adding to the great work God is doing through Maverick City and in the church.

“It’s also evidence of the effect that worship music has had on the world in the past few years and what God is doing through Maverick City Music and in the church,” Raine said.

The Kingdom Tour Concert taking place in Kenya, will also feature renowned gospel artist Kirk Franklin who is known to join Maverick City on World Tours.

1. June 5: Randy Travis, his original band and James Dupré

"The Randy Travis: More Life Tour" is headed to Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on June 5.

The show features Travis' original band alongside vocalist James Dupré , who will sing the country singer's hits; Travis has been largely unable to sing or speak since suffering from a stroke in 2013 .

Alongside Dupré's rendition of his hits, Travis will also make a special appearance at the show.

Travis recently released his first song in over a decade with the help of artificial intelligence to recreate his voice, a single called "Where That Came From."

2. June 6-9: CMA Fest

CMA Fest is back in downtown Nashville from June 6 to 9.

The four-day-long concert series will feature hundreds of artists on multiple stages downtown , including Nissan Stadium and Ascend Amphitheater.

It includes Luke Bryan, HARDY, Jordan Davis, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson and Keith Urban, among many others.

Last year, nearly 100,000 country music fans flooded the streets of downtown Nashville.

3. June 12: James Taylor

James Taylor and his band are headed to Bridgestone Arena on June 12.

The singer-songwriter and guitarist known for songs "Fire and Rain," "You've Got a Friend" and "Carolina in My Mind" is stopping in Nashville on his 2024 summer tour.

Taylor kicked off the tour on May 29 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and will travel around the U.S., performing everywhere from Maine to Colorado.

4. June 13-16: Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival 2024

Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is back from June 13-16 in Manchester, TN.

5. June 21-22: Blackberry Smoke

Country rock band Blackberry Smoke will perform at the Ryman Auditorium from June 21-22.

The Georgia band, known for songs "One Horse Town," "Waiting for the Thunder" and "Good One Comin' On," will be playing two shows in Nashville with special guests Elvie Shane and John R. Miller.

In 2024, they released "Be Right Here," a 10-song record with lead track "Dig A Hole."

6. June 23: Alanis Morissette

The "Ironic" singer is headed to Bridgestone Arena on her "Triple Moon Tour" on June 23.

Her tour with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Morgan Wade follows Morissette's 2022 album "The Storm Before The Calm."

7. June 23: Bryson Tiller

R&B and hip-hop singer Bryson Tiller will hit the stage at Ascend Amphitheater on June 23.

2024 Music Festivals: Where to Get Tickets

Austin City Limits Music Festival — The 2024 Austin City Limits Music Festival will be held on Oct. 4-6 and Oct. 11-13).

Bonnaroo Festival — Post Malone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fred Again, Reneé Rap, Megan Thee Stallion, Malanie Martinez, Diplo, Jason Isbell, Dominic Fike and T-Pain are some of the performers on the bill for Bonnaroo 2024. The festival will be held from June 13-16. Get tickets here and here .

When it comes to seeing your favorite bands and artists live this year, there’s a good chance they’re playing at a music festival in a city near you. Aside from well-known events like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza , there’s no shortage of other multi-day fests around the country, from BottleRock in Napa, to a relatively new fest in Iowa with some of the biggest acts in music.

Whether you’re looking for the best in country music at Stagecoach , or an afternoon of stellar tunes in the middle of Sin City, these are some of the best music festivals fans should know about this year (along with where to score tickets in advance).

Governors Ball Music Festival (Gov Ball)

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival

Lollapalooza

When: August 1 – 4, 2024 Where: Chicago, Illinois What to Expect & Lineup: On the heels of its own docuseries , Lollapalooza is still having a moment all these years later. This year sees a stacked lineup, including Tyler, the Creator, SZA, The Killers, Future and Metro Boomin, Blink-182, and Melanie Martin. When: August 2 – 4, 2024 Where: Saint Charles, Iowa What to Expect & Lineup: Some of the hottest names in music performing about a half hour south of Des Moines, from Noah Kahan and Lizzy McAlpine, to Hozier and Vampire Weekend. If you have some extra time, walk a block over to the Farmer’s Market in the morning, grab a cocktail at Bartender’s Handshake for happy hour, then book a reservation at Harbinger for dinner. Outside Lands

When: August 9 — 11, 2024 Where: San Francisco, California What to Expect & Lineup: Outside Lands returns once again to San Francisco for its 16th year, with headliners that include Tyler, the Creator, The Killers, and Sturgill Simpson. Life Is Beautiful

When: September 2024 Where: Las Vegas, Nevada What to Expect & Lineup: Blocks and blocks of live music in downtown Sin City. While fans will have to wait a little longer for this year’s lineup, the 2023 Life Is Beautiful bill included huge names from Yeah Yeah Yeahs to The Killers, Kendrick Lamar to Odesza. Where to Stay: The sleek Fontainebleau , the Venetian , or anywhere near the Vegas Strip – after all, the fest is right in the middle of the action. Austin City Limits Music Festival

When: October 4 – 13, 2024 Where: Austin, Texas What to Expect & Lineup: It might not be as spread out over the city as SXSW, but the Austin City Limits Music Fest is no doubt another treasure for any music fan looking for a great time in a city that’s never short on live tunes. This year’s lineup includes Chris Stapleton, Blink-182, Leon Bridges, Norah Jones, and that’s only the first night. Where to Stay: There’s no shortage of hotels near the festival – or within walking distance across the bridge from the grounds. BottleRock Music Festival

When: May 23 – 25, 2025 Where: Napa Valley, California What to Expect & Lineup: It’s a wine-lover’s dream music festival. Why? Right in the middle of Napa, you might spot music fans sipping on some of the hottest wines in the area, from Jam to Realm Cellars. The 2024 lineup will be tough to top: Pearl Jam (with surprise guest Bradley Cooper) , Norah Jones, Stevie Nicks, and Ed Sheeran , along with celeb appearances from Cameron Diaz to Guy Fieri, and even a secret DJ set in a speakeasy from the manager of local rock-loving Cliff Lede winery. When: April 11 – 13 & April 18 – 20, 2025 Where: Indio, California What to Expect & Lineup: The music festival season kickoff has its share of parties, amazing weather, and incredible tunes. The 2025 lineup hasn’t been revealed yet, but 2024 featured Lana Del Rey (with a surprise appearance from Billie Eilish), Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, and No Doubt , to name a few. Where to Stay: Coachella weekend can be competitive when it comes to booking your stay, but sites like Hotels.com , Booking.com , or Airbnb are good places to check availability. Stagecoach Music Festival

When: April 26 – 28, 2024; 2025 Dates TBD Where: Indio, California What to Expect & Lineup: One of the best country music festivals in the world, Stagecoach 2024 treated fans to performances from Eric Church , Miranda Lambert, and Morgan Wallen. It’s safe to say the 2025 festival will be just as fun. Where to Stay: Driving back to Palm Springs? Try Casa Cody , the Ace Hotel , Korakia (because you’ll want to extend your stay), or anywhere that’s available. If you really want to have the Stagecoach experience, you could head over to the Joshua Tree area and stay at the Pioneertown Motel .
