Ella Henderson is a singer and songwriter hailing from Tetney, Lincolnshire, England who was born on January 12th 1996. Since starring in the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012 she has released one Platinum certified studio album and four singles, including the world-wide smash hit “Ghost”.

Some people can apparently sing before they can talk, and chances are that Ella Henderson was one of those lucky people. She developed a passion for singing when she was three years old, and the rest of her childhood was spent performing as much as she could, either to her family every Christmas or at her secondary school Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. She left the school at the age of sixteen, and pretty much directly afterwards auditioned for the 2012 series of The X Factor. She was succesful and became one of the most popular contestants on the show, hailed by presenter Dermot O’Leary as the most talented performers they’d ever had. However, in one of the series’ most shocking moments, she was eliminated halfway through to a mass audience outcry.

Fortunately, the notoriously fickle public were still enamoured with her once she began her singing career in earnest, and she ended up being a much bigger name than anyone else competing against her on that years X Factor. Her first single “Ghost” was a worldwide smash hit, hitting number one with a bullet in the U.K when it was released in June 2014 and enjoying strong showings in charts all over the world. Her debut album “Chapter One” enjoyed similar success, topping the U.K album charts and barely missing the top ten of the Billboard 200, peaking at number 11. She saw in April 2015 supporting Take That on their U.K arena tour, and the sky seems to be very much the limit for her, for that, she comes highly recommended.

It was a huge shock in the UK media when fan and bookies favourite Ella Henderson left the X Factor in fifth place when she was assuringly destined for the final. It would seem the curse of the winner befell James Arthur whilst Ella used the platform successfully to raise her profile without surrendering her creative freedoms to Syco. In doing this she returned in 2014 with an album titled 'Chapter One' and the international hit single 'Ghost'.

It was always noted during the process of X Factor that Ella was one of the most naturally commanding live performers of those on the lineup and she attains this similar confidence tonight as she steps out tonight to open for pop royalty Take That. Performing a selection of material from the debut, the arenas seem to be familiar with the likes of 'Glow' and 'Mirror Man' which further enthuses Ella to throw herself into the performance. When you have a vocal of such soulful power and sheer velocity, your confidence would be rightly internal. Finishing on the huge hit 'Ghost' lifts the spirits of the venue and places Ella in a strong place moving forward in her career.

She's some artist I loved every minute of it she could have sold out in the hydro 10 times over what a voice listened to her album all the way to Glasgow and back after the gig just absolutely amazing couldn't get any better she is right up there with Adele

Ella was absolutely wonderful! She sounds as great as she does on her album. This was a plus since I was a way back and couldn't see her. I can't wait for her new music. I would go see her again for sure.

I am a massive fan of you, Ella Henderson! You are my absolute favourite and I will always love you! I listen to your songs, play them on piano and what I do no matter what I like you!

After what has been a momentous 2015 already; Brit nominee Ella Henderson will embark on her debut headline UK tour for October and November.

Since the release of her debut, million-selling single ‘Ghost’, Ella has received two BRITs nominations for Best British Female and Best British Single, seen her debut album‘Chapter One’hit #1 in the UK and reach platinum status.  Plus Ella has released three further smash hit singles including ‘Glow’, ‘Yours’ and the recent ‘Mirror Man.’

In the US her album ‘Chapter One’ also hit #11 on the Billboard charts with ‘Ghost’ selling over a million copies.

Ahead of her own highly anticipated dates Ella will be performing as the special guest on Take That’s mammoth arena tour this Spring and Summer. Ella said:

‘Everything I Didn’t Say’ Ella Henderson Tour

Ella Henderson  announces her first headline tour in seven years. Spanning eight dates throughout October, the ‘Everything I Didn’t Say 2022 Tour’ will begin in Newcastle on Saturday 15 th , followed by shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Oxford and Cardiff. The tour then concludes at London’s prestigious O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Tuesday 25 th  . See below for full itinerary.

Ella Henderson announces UK tour dates

Ella Henderson has unveiled details of her debut headline tour. The former X Factor star will play 11 shows across the UK in October and November.

Kicking off in Birmingham on October 25, Ella will visit eight more cities before closing the run with a two night stint at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on November 8 and 9.

“I'm so excited to have my first headline tour coming up,” says Ella, “After taking my time to write this record, I now feel ready to finally get these songs up on a stage & bring them to life with my band!

“Performing live is what I feel I was born to do! There really is no better feeling that could match up to the adrenaline rush of a real, live, buzz of an audience.”

Cian Ducrot and Ella Henderson have teamed up on a reimagined version of the Irish singer-songwriter’s latest single, “All For You.”

The pair became friends after Henderson invited Ducrot to join her on her upcoming UK tour, which kicks off in October. In return, Ducrot asked the singer to help him write a new verse for the track, adding to its themes of love, lust, and heartbreak.

“Working with Ella is a dream!” Ducrot said in a press release. “She’s not only an incredible artist and performer with the most beautiful voice, but she is one of the kindest people I have ever met and worked with. To be going on tour and also having a collaboration together is really special to me, and I am so grateful to Ella!

“Working on this new version was very surreal to me as I used to sing some of Ella’s songs back in Ireland when I would busk and gig on the weekends, so I am still very much in a pinch me moment! We put a lot of love into this version to make it as authentic and real as possible and to maintain the original essence of the song! I’m so excited for everyone to hear it!”

Henderson added: “For me, Cian is the real deal. He is such a talented musician & authentic artist, which is why I chose him to join me on my UK tour later this year in October! It’s been a lot of fun getting in the studio and rewriting our new version of ‘All For You’ together. My favorite thing about working with Cian is he is a storyteller, which is so important to me when I write a song. We definitely connected the dots on this record to find a way of making the duet feel truthful, raw, and honest. I love this song so much, and I can’t wait for our fans to hear it!”

The original version of “All For You” was previewed on the hit reality series Love Island earlier this year and achieved phenomenal success on TikTok, where it scored more than 150,000 views in just 20 minutes. It also entered the Top 10 of the Official Irish Singles Chart and peaked at No.49 on the Official UK Singles Chart.

Ducrot will support Henderson on her UK tour in October, but before that will head out on his own headline tour. The dates kick off in Manchester on September 15, and include a stop at London’s Lafayette, tickets for which sold out in less than 24 hours, and a homecoming show in Cork. Lincolnshire singer and songwriter Ella Henderson finished sixth in the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012, despite being a strong favourite to win. She was subsequently signed to Syco Music reaching no.1 in the UK Charts with her debut single, "Ghost", which was certified platinum for sales in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

While her debut album, Chapter One , also topped the charts in 2014, spawning the Top 20 hits "Glow" and "Yours", it wasn't until 2022 that she followed it up with her second album,  Everything I Didn't Say , which reached no.8 and included the Top 10 hit "Let's Go Home Together" (with Tom Grennan).

She has also featured on Top 10 hits "Crazy What Love Can Do" (with David Guetta and Becky Hill), "Glitterball" (with Sigma), "This Is Real" (with Jax Jones), and "21 Reasons" (with Nathan Dawe).

• Watch Ella perform her fantastic set for approximately 45 minutes after racing.
• We’re opening the music only gates on the penultimate race at *5pm. So there’s no rushing to get ready!
• Whilst you’ll only be with us for a short amount of time but during that time you’ll have full access to the Open Course and the facilities it offers.
• On arrival to the racecourse, head up onto Nun’s road where you’ll find gate 9. A quick ticket check here and you’ll be in the racecourse in no time.
• Oh and remember your dancing shoes!

LIVE Blackpool Illuminations switch-on as Spice Girl Mel B and Ella Henderson star

The festivities will kick off this evening as the switch-on starts this year's blackpool illuminations.

It's a huge night of the year for family fun, with the annual Blackpool Illuminations switch-on kicking off this evening.

The festivities started around 5pm with performances from some of Blackpool's most promising young musicians. The Upbeat Rock Academy will present a 90-minute showcase of local talent, titled 'Blackpool Introduces'.

After that, the main event will begin: a two-hour show hosted by Leanne and Joel from the Hits Radio's breakfast show. The line-up features the Massaoke show by Rockstar Weekend, a unique mass participation production where lyrics from popular hits are projected onto giant LED screens, turning the audience into the stars of the show.

American pop singer Kimberly Wyatt, formerly of The Pussycat Dolls, will then take to the stage for a high-energy DJ set featuring Noughties hits, dance tracks and pop classics. Headliner Ella Henderson will perform an extended set from her extensive catalogue of hits.

The evening will conclude with Spice Girl Mel B pulling the famous switch to light up Blackpool. Mel will be making a nostalgic return to the resort where her career first started as a 16-year-old dancer in the Mystique show at Blackpool.

The entire event will be free to access with no tickets required.

80,000-strong crowd out for the lights this evening

And that’s it for another year! Mel B has turned on the lights in a rather glitzy fashion and the signal to autumn and shorter evenings has begun. The 80,000-strong are still chanting Mel’s name, but we imagine most people have started to make the journey home - we hope the traffic is light tonight!

'A legendary experience'

“It’s built for families! There’s so many funfairs and the experiences are everywhere. We’ve just had the best day moseying about. I took them to the pier funfair, we went on rides, and had hot dogs," said former Pussycat Doll and DJ Kimberly Wyatt.

“Now getting to perform on stage for the big illuminations - it’s such a legendary experience.”

'Blackpool is like Santa Monica pier on steroids!'

Performer and former member of the Pussycat Dolls, Kimberly Wyatt will be performing a DJ set before the switch-on. Although the American had to do some prior research on the illuminations themselves, she’s no stranger to Blackpool.

“I have been to Blackpool a couple of times, mainly for dance competitions. It is definitely the place to be for big dance competitions and is quite legendary in that aspect.

“Having come and spent so many hours inside, it’s nice to actually experience it with the family, I’ve been wanting to do that for many years."

Asking about her first visit, Kimberly struggled to remember how old she was when she first set foot in the seaside town. However, she did liken it to another famous pier across the pond.

“I just remember being in awe. We have Santa Monica Pier in LA, which is a pier and there’s rides and funfairs and everything else. This is like that on steroids.”

Britain's Got Talent star makes a splash in Blackpool

Winning the seventeenth series of BGT earlier this year, Sydnie says calling the last few months a whirlwind is an understatement. “It’s been nuts, but it’s been a lot of work in the studio and with management, but there has been a lot of saying hi and then singing in front of everybody. That’s all I want to do.”

'Party central'

Sydnie says she knew of the spectacle of the illuminations, but has never visited the seaside town before. She added: “This is exciting. I’ve got my mum here and my brother and his family are here, they’ve all come down.”

When asked what her first impressions of Blackpool are, Sydnie looked out on to the crowds forming at the Festival Headland down below, adding: “Well this just looks like party central! I’m quite excited to witness all of that and be a part of it, obviously. “I can’t wait, it’ll be such a good end to an absolutely wicked day because so far it’s been absolutely brilliant.”

Britain's Got Talent winner gets candid about her nerves - on her first ever visit to Blackpool

Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas is joining the switch-on line-up tonight and we managed to squeeze in a quick word with her before she headed for the stage. Hailing from Kent, this is the 29-year-old’s first visit to Blackpool.

“I’m nervous, really nervous. I think this is the biggest crowd I think I’ve ever played for! Not I think actually, I know I’ve never performed in front of a crowd this big. This is something. Something for the books I’m sure."

New displays have been made for this year, with designs by Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and Leigh Francis. Laurence, best known for the BBC programme Changing Rooms, has designed the 'Disco Donkey Cavalcade' including twelve donkeys all decked out in 70s-inspired swimwear on a 16-foot high platform.

Leigh, also known as Keith Lemon, has designed 'Light Around the World', a brand new tableau inspired by his childhood memories. This includes a 12 foot high dinosaur, space ship, astronaut and airborne BMX bike, with Leigh himself flying through the skies to Blackpool Tower .

Singer Mel B, perhaps better known as Scary Spice, has arrived for her big moment later tonight.

'Blackpool coming together'

Carmen Howarth (far right) has come to the switch on event with her daughter Courtney and grandson Alfie. Although Carmen has lived in Blackpool for over 10 years, work commitments have meant this is the first time she’s ever been to the much-anticipated event.

“I’ve got my grandson now,” Carmen told LancsLive. “It’s a gorgeous day and I thought I would make an effort. It’s lovely, the sun is shining and it’s nice to see Blackpool coming together.”

Britain's Got Talent star set to join

Britain's Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas joins the line-up too, a performer who began her career in musical theatre and appeared in various productions before entering the seventeenth series of Britain’s Got Talent. Sydnie is about to release her debut album, My Way, and embark on her first national tour.
