I hav been there at munnar along with my 13 frnz in search of peace,silence,calm n serenity n dis place is d best place to b. We went there on 25th evening at suryenili base camp from where they took us with a jeep to the camping sight which took around half n hour or so. Bt that road was really challenging and thats d beauty of a trek.it ws n adventurous ride fr us. After dat we reach der at camp sight where we have 7 tents waiting fr us. It ws a full moon n d way d mountains were shining n d clouds were moving accross d mountains with a very vold breezy wind touching d face ws jusss amazing. The tents were comfortable. Der was a bone fire also where we spent more den 2 hrs, singing , dancing, playing games,. N above dem al relaxing in such silence n serenity.

Nex morning it ws 5 o clock wen we hav 2 start our journey yo c d sunrise view from d top.. it ws my first trekking xperince so it ws a little hassled one..bt d sunrise view frm d mountain ws amazingly stunning. We hav been der fr 2 hr or so before coming down to camp sight. While coming back it ws a very panoramic view thru d tea estates. After having delicious brekfast whuch have 3 tyoes of fruits, grams,tea, bread slices, idli n all..it was really Delicious, After having brekfast v again started our journey to base camp..n in d mean while each n every sight r justs eye capturing. It ws really a nice experience.we r planning 2 visit again. Support staff r very nice.

Excellent Tour Company TMI/Manvendra were very responsive to our short notice request for an 8 night stay in Kerela. Unfortunately some important details were missed. One hotel was booked 50 minutes away from our destination, which was very difficult after already traveling 5 hours in the car with a baby. Our driver had excellent driving skills but poor English and customer service, which caused frustration. Be sure to specify rooms at hotels when confirming itineraries, otherwise its likely you'll get the lowest standard room option.

We had a consistent driver the whole trip making this smooth and easy as we got to know each other. He gave us lots of room to recharge between stops as we had a full schedule. loved the local elements as well as the various temples, palaces and forts.... I booked for this “small group tour” 4 or 5 days before its starting date. In 24 hours, my booking was confirmed. On my first day of the tour, it was revealed that because no one else has signed up for these days, I was the only member of the tour, the driver will be my mate for the entire trip. I called the driver a driver, not a guide, because you would expect storytelling, experience sharing, maybe some form of entertainment by the guide. But he speaks rather basic English, with heavy accent. Our conversation’s limited almost exclusively to driving and eating arrangements. A few times we went through phone calls with a friend of his who speaks decent English. The driver made stops at friends’ herbal medicine garden, antique shop, Jeep safari, ... etc. The friends are usually friendly and respectful, so as long as you feel comfortable haggling, you will likely enjoyed the experience. A few things about the four hotels I spent nights at. Only one of them had a working WiFi that I could use. One of them had water turning cold a few minutes into a shower, and occasional power outages. But otherwise they are good hotels. Most of places listed on the itinerary require separate entrance tickets. So be prepared. Overall, the experience has been interesting for me. I learned quite a bit about the places, the local people, the tourism industry. If you consider yourself somewhat adventurous, and have a little flexibility with budget, this could be a good experience.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM (India): From a father-of-two who planned to leave his job to a 29-year-old due to visit his family in August, two dozen Indians from the southern state of Kerala died in a fire that ripped through a labour-housing facility in Kuwait on Wednesday (June 12), leaving their families bereft.

Around 40 Indians died in the blaze, which also killed at least nine other people in Mangaf city, while more than 50 were injured, according to India's foreign ministry.

Most of the Indian victims came from Kerala.

Norka Roots, a government agency for Keralites living outside the state, put the number of the state's dead at 24 with seven others injured and their condition serious.

The federal government had arranged a special flight to bring the bodies, Norka Secretary K Vasuki said.

Among the Keralite victims was Muralidharan Nair, who had been working in Kuwait for 32 years, including 10 as a senior supervisor in the company that owned the housing facility where the fire broke out.

"He came on leave in December for two months with a plan to end his career in Kuwait. The company called him back," his brother, Vinu V Nair, told Reuters, adding that the family identified the 61-year-old from a list published by India's embassy.

His two roommates also died in the blaze.

Millions of foreign workers make up the majority of the labour force in Kuwait and some of its Gulf neighbours, and often live in overcrowded accommodation.

For decades, a disproportionately large share of Indian workers in the Gulf have been drawn from Kerala, a densely packed state along southern India's Arabian Sea coast.

News of the disaster spread quickly in Kerala.

The family of Saju Varghese, 56, found out about the fire from television and social media, and confirmed his death from friends and relatives in Kuwait.

Working in the Gulf nation for the last 21 years, Varghese planned to visit Kerala later this month to arrange his daughter's higher education.

"The family is in a state of shock," their neighbour, George Samuel, said.

Another victim, Stephin Abraham Sabu, 29, was an engineer in Kuwait since 2019 and called home almost daily.

He had visited his hometown Kottayam "two or three times" since he left, and had booked air tickets to return in August for the housewarming of his family's new home and to help them buy a new car, his friends said.

Sabu's father has a small shop in Kottayam while his mother is a housewife. His brother, Febin, also works in Kuwait but lived separately.

Authorities in Kuwait have not officially disclosed the nationalities of those who died.

The other dead included three Filipino workers, the Philippine migrant workers ministry said on June 13, adding that two others were hospitalised and in critical condition. - Reuters
