No refund for cancelled tour

I cancelled 5 days in advance of my tour, well in advance of their cancellation policy. I received and automated response acknowledging my cancellation. One month later I noticed a credit had not been applied to my account. I called and emailed several times and never got a response. I finally had to dispute the charge with Citibank who has now give me full credit. If a business won't communicate with a customer and return funds that are due, they are not reputable.

We are a couple from Barcelona that spend 26 days road-tripping around the west coast. We were very exited to do this tour. We were 9 people on the tour 4 Americans and the rest were foreigners. The old woman that did this guided tour treat us awful, she would only explain and take care of the 4 Americans and underestimate the rest of the group. She would only take their cameras to help them to take good pictures. I asked her a couple of times if she would help me out and she responded very rude and with a lot of underestimation. We got so angry and made the tour an awful experience. I'am myself a guide in Barcelona and I work with different nationalities of clients. I would never ever treat anyone differently or give a preferential treatment depending on where they are from. I suggest her to take some classes on tour guiding would be good not only for her but for the possible future guest. The Tour Guide is absolutely the key to make your experience unforgettable or the worst of you life (as this was for us). Laura, Tour Guide in Barcelona

We had a great experience with Chief Tsosie's Antelope Canyon Tour (upper canyon). Our tour guide was great! He pointed out the best places to take photographs and put a lot of effort into giving us a great experience. The tour was shorter than we expected but definitely worth the trip.

The upper canyon tour was simply awesome and I am so happy that we saw both the upper AND lower canyon tours. The staff was polite and helpful with photographing skill help. So happy we went!!

Antelope Canyon Tour Itinerary

Journey to antelope canyon.

From the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, our route takes us through the Sonoran Desert up into the picturesque mountain town of Flagstaff. This historic Route 66 town lies at the base of the largest mountain range in Arizona, the San Francisco Peaks, which we will be able to gaze upon as we continue to travel north to the Lake Powell region. Along our way, we will enjoy a visit to a Navajo Trading Post and explore Navajo culture and their intricate crafts. Upon arrival to Page, Arizona, we will begin our tour of spectacular Lower Antelope Canyon.* Here, we will tour Lower Antelope Canyon with a local Navajo guide who will lead you through the amazing natural formations of this world famous slot canyon. The photo opportunities will be second to none! You will also enjoy views of Lake Powell and time in Page for a casual lunch.

Horseshoe Bend Overlook

After our time in Antelope Canyon and Page, we will embark upon a scenic one-mile walk to Horseshoe Bend Overlook which is highlighted by awe-inspiring views into this deeply carved channel and the Colorado River below. Photos from the edge of this natural beauty are widespread across the world and are nothing short of amazing.

Physical Requirements for the Tour

*To participate in this tour, guests must be able to perform the following movements: For Antelope Canyon – Can you walk on slanted, uneven sandstone and loose sand? Can you climb up and down steep metal ladders/stairs – some with railings? Antelope Canyon is not strenuous but does require agility, balance and grip. There are also some narrow sections of the canyon that may not be suitable for those with claustrophobia. For Horseshoe Bend – Visiting this overlook requires a 1.5 mile round trip walk on a dirt path with no shade.

*Additional notes for Antelope Canyon – Service animals are not allowed, purses/backpacks are not allowed, tripods are not allowed, hiking poles are not allowed.

***In rare occasions, Lower Antelope will close due to unforeseen weather events. Although we closely monitor the weather, sometimes the closure is beyond our control and happens last minute. If this occurs, we will try to get tickets for UPPER Antelope but this will incur an additional fee of up to $50/person. You will be able to opt out of the Antelope portion if you do not wish to pay this extra fee but you will NOT be refunded for the overall tour, except for the $73/person Lower Antelope ticket.

Upper Antelope and the History of Antelope Canyon

Upper Antelope Canyon, which is also known as “The Crack,” is the most popular of the two slot canyons that make up Antelope Canyon. It is also the most-visited slot canyon in the American Southwest and the most-photographed in the world. The radiant sun beams that shine through its walls in the spring and summer are one of its main claims to fame, while its changing colors in the fall and winter are another mesmerizing sight to be seen. The Upper Canyon’s ease of access and lack of climbing also make it extremely popular with the family set as well as visitors who may require easy travel but still want an exciting experience in nature.

Antelope Canyon was formed over many hundreds of years by water that ran through sandstone, giving it its unique geography. Upper Antelope is called Tsé bighánílíní in Navajo, which can be translated to “The place where water runs through rocks” in English. Antelope Canyon got its name from the belief that Antelopes once grazed along the canyon in the winter.

Closed end shoes are recommended and are required for our 3 private canyons. We discourage skirts and dresses due to the ladders and the terrain. We ask our guests to dress modest because we do accommodate families. Canyons can be up to 10 degrees cooler than the external temperature, so layers are recommended for your comfort. The temperature is usually five to ten degrees cooler, all year around in the canyons. Dress in layers to accommodate changing temperatures.

If it is windy, we do recommend a hat and handkerchief to cover your nose, mouth, and ears. Sand enters the canyon in all directions, so photographers please bring a cover for your camera, a plastic shower cap works best.

LOWER ANTELOPE CANYON TOUR

And horseshoe bend, experience culture, explore arizona’s lower antelope canyon, availability.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday

9.5-11.5 Hours

Your day begins with a scenic drive up Oak Creek Canyon (Sedona departures only) and views of Arizona’s highest mountains, the San Francisco Peaks. Next, we leave tall pine forests and travel onto the Navajo Nation for a stop at historic Cameron Trading Post with its impressive collection of souvenirs and Native American arts and crafts. Along the way, you’ll have views of the colorful Painted Desert cliffs in the distance as well as the Little Colorado River. Your guide will share information about the surrounding scenery, the Navajo people and their culture as you travel.

The day continues with a 1.5 mile round trip hike to Horseshoe Bend where you can view a unique meander of the Colorado River far below. Afterward, enjoy a delicious lunch and a view of the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. With over 1,200 miles of shoreline, the lake is a spectacular site.

The crown of the day is a visit to Lower Antelope Canyon with a 1 mile hike with a Native American guide. This lower section of this corkscrew canyon requires a bit more effort but the reward is fewer visitors and a more intimate experience. The unique water and wind carved sandstone walls change color as the angle of light changes throughout the day. This portion of the canyon has a north/south orientation so light strikes some portion of the walls during most of the day. Your guide will talk about the formation of the slot canyon and offer suggestions for taking the best photos along the way.

Highlights include visiting two of the most stunning Southwest vistas, both Horseshoe Bend and Lower Antelope Canyon. You will walk out to Horseshoe Bend, which sits above the winding Colorado River, to get amazing photos and see why this vista got its name. In the afternoon, you will be astounded by the views in Lower Antelope Canyon, which change constantly as the sun moves across the sky, filtering lights softly across the stone walls. You will experience the beautiful color palette on the sandstone walls at the best time of day. Complimentary lunch included.
