Dubai: If you are one of the lucky few who have secured a Qatar World Cup 2022 ticket, you can now take advantage of a multiple-entry tourist visa to the UAE for just Dh100.

The scheme was announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) on August 30, 2022 and comes into effect from today - November 1, 2022.

But what is the Hayya Card and how can you get the multiple entry tourist visa to the UAE? Here is all you need to know.

What is the Hayya card?

According to the official Qatar World Cup 2022 website - www.qatar2022.qa – you need the Hayya Card to enter the State of Qatar and access the stadiums. It is also important to have the card to access free public transport within Qatar during the World Cup. However, in order to apply for the Hayya card, you need to be a ticketholder.

How can I get the Hayya card?

To get the Hayya card, follow these steps:

1. Visit https://hayya.qatar2022.qa/ and click on ‘Apply for Hayya’ on the menu on the top right of your screen. 2. Click on ‘sign up’ and enter your email and full name and create a password for your account. Enter the text verification code and check the box indicating that you have read the terms and conditions. 3. Click on ‘Sign up’. You will receive a one-time password (OTP) on your email address, which you need to enter to proceed with the process. 4. You will then again need to click on ‘Apply for Hayya’ and select your category as an applicant – - Match ticket holder - Match voucher holder - Match hospitality - Accredited personnel (FIFA) If you choose the option of ‘Match ticket holder’ you will be asked to enter the ticket application number, after which your ticket will be validated. You then need to enter your passport details, personal information and home address to complete your registration. Once you have the Hayya card, you can then also apply for the multiple entry tourist visa to the UAE.

How to apply for the multiple entry tourist visa to the UAE

To apply for the visa to the UAE, follow these steps: - Visit https://smartservices.icp.gov.ae/echannels/web/client/guest/index.html#/dashboard - Click on ‘Public services’ and select ‘Hayya card holders’ visa. - Fill in the application form with details of your passport and Hayya card. The visa will allow you to enter the UAE and stay for up to 90 days, starting from the date the visa is issued. The cost of the visa is only Dh100 and allows for multiple entries during its validity. Also, this visa can be extended for an additional 90 days, according to the ICP.

This visa is only for citizens of countries that need to apply for a visa. According to the ICP, citizens of visa-exempt countries  can continue to enter the UAE and stay in the country according to the current procedures.

GDRFA Dubai issues first multiple-entry tourist visa for ‘Hayya’ card holders

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai today issued the UAE’s first multiple-entry tourist visa for ‘Hayya’ card holders, allowing the first World Cup fan to enter and stay in the UAE for up to 90 days.

Mohammad Jalal, a Jordanian citizen, was the first visitor to be granted a tourist visa, with a strong expectation of more visas to be issued over the next few days as substantial numbers of fans are likely to visit the UAE.

The move comes as part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to support Qatar in hosting the World Cup 2022 by allowing fans into the UAE. The new visa will enable Hayya’ card holders to freely enter and exit the UAE many times during its validity.

H.E. Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, said: “With the World Cup in Qatar only a few weeks away, the GDRFA has made all necessary preparations to support the international sporting event through a package of unprecedented services tailored for travellers desiring to have a top-notch and distinctive travel experience that goes along with their plan to attend the most popular world championship competitions and the 2023 New Year's Eve celebrations.”  

According to early figures and projections, Al Marri stated that during the World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, more than 1.4 million tourists from various nations may travel there. “As a result, we have accelerated work capacity while still maintaining the highest levels of security. In addition, certain delegations and visitors would frequently go to Doha and back to Dubai on the same day, thus we will make sure that 100% of UAE visitors from Qatar get pre-entry permits (before their arrival).”

Al Marri reaffirmed that Dubai will offer visitors a fantastic travel experience owing to its unmatched attractions, initiatives, and top-notch surprises for tourists, particularly as the World Cup will fall during the optimum weather conditions that many people from all over the world would love to enjoy.

"With that in mind, the GDRFA Dubai has formed a team to issue these particular types of visas and will continue to work around the clock to provide tourists with exceptional experiences and high-caliber services. We will distribute brochures on the most prominent landmarks that can be visited while in Dubai. We will also strengthen our cooperation and coordination with strategic partners, including Dubai Department of Economic Development, Dubai Airport, and tourism companies, to ensure that tourists are provided with an unparalleled travel experience," Director General of GDRFA said.

Starting today, the UAE will start accepting applications for multiple-entry tourist visas from fans attending the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) welcomed holders of the 'Hayya' card - a personalised document required by people to attend any of the World Cup matches – to the UAE.

The Fifa World Cup will be held from November 20 to December 18.

International fans holding the Hayya card can apply for the visa on the ICP website. They have to browse through public services on the website for ‘visa for Hayya card holders’, fill their data and pay the fees.

With the visa, World Cup fans can enter the Emirates multiple times over a period of 90 days. The visa fee has been reduced to a one-time charge of Dh100. It can be extended for another 90 days, with regular fees applied.
