If the idea of conversing in a foreign language intimidates you, then this is the country to visit. It's pretty similar to the United States in a lot of way, and you'll be unlikely to experience culture shock.

10. The Netherlands. Amsterdam is a fantastic first-time solo travel destination, because it is just so dang easy to navigate. Given its small size and well-connected public transportation system, getting from point A to point B couldn't be easier.

Iceland is absolutely, hands-down, one of the safest place on earth. You'll likely meet several solo female travelers, as well as LGBTQIA+ travelers, because of the country's inclusive and equitable societal standards. Downtown Reykjavik has a booming LGBTQIA+ scene.

12 Florence, Italy. People might not think of an Italian city as an easy trip. However, Firenze is a famous option for college students studying abroad, and for a good reason. First, people in Florence speak at least sufficient English to get people comfortable enough. Second, the city is little and manageable.
