Generating detailed art in seconds

AI art generators are incredibly popular right now since they can generate detailed art after being given a written prompt. The prompt can be as long or as short as you'd like, but the more information a program has to go off of the more likely it is to create anything you imagine. Crazy right?

While there are several of these programs out there like Bing Image Creator and DALL-E 2 by OpenAI, Midjourney is one of the most popular since it can work with a lot of different styles and offers a free trial. However, it can be tricky to use if you aren't already familiar with Discord, the social chat program that hosts it. No worries. Here's how to set up Midjourney on Discord and how to use it.

Note: AI-art generators like Midjourney were trained by being fed actual artists' work without their permission. Because of this, some artists are suing AI art generator companies for stealing their work. You should keep this in mind when using Midjourney and note that rules regarding these programs might change in the future.

How to get started with Midjourney on Discord

NOTE: Midjourney has canceled its free access after several viral deepfakes were made using the software. At this point, it's unclear if free access will ever come back.

Midjourney can only be used within Discord, the popular social messaging and video call software. This means that you must have a Discord account before you can use Midjourney. Make a free Discord account now if you don't already have one. It can be used on your desktop computer or your phone.

  • Click on the command box at the bottom of the window and type " /imagine " (without the quotes) then select the box that pops up above it.

Type

  • Prompt example #1: Colorful illustration of a dragon flying through the night sky and roasting a marshmallow playful art style
  • Prompt example #2: Hyper-realistic portrait of a woman eating berries while on fire gothic art style, surrounded by red roses and black bats 8K, 16:9, depth of field

Type into the prompt box that appears in Midjourney.

  • The very first time you use Midjourney, the Midjourney Bot will respond and ask you to accept the terms of service. Read through it and if you're ok with everything select Accept ToS .

Accept Midjourney's Terms of Service.

  • Now Midjourney will work on the prompt you wrote earlier. Give it a few minutes . The more people actively using the Newcomer Room, the longer it can take to get to your prompt. After a while, Midjourney will generate four images based on your prompt. Scroll down to the bottom of the channel to see it.

Scroll down to see the latest art generated by Midjourney.

  • U1-U4: U stands for Upscale. Selecting one of these buttons generates a higher-resolution image of the thumbnail that it correlates to. There will be slight changes between the initial thumbnail and the upscaled image that gets made.
  • V1-V4: V stands for Variation. This makes four different variations that are similar to the image that the button corresponds to.
  • Refresh: Pressing this makes Midjourney generate four brand-new images based on the original prompt.
  • Make Variations: Makes four variations of the image. This can lead to very subtle differences that can change the feel entirely.
  • Light Upscale redo: Upscales the image to 1024 x 1024p and adds more details to the image.
  • Beta Upscale redo: Upscales the image to 1024 x 1024p while keeping it mostly the same.
  • Remaster : Reworks an image that was created in an older version of Midjourney by running it through the latest algorithm. Only shows up in some instances.
  • Web : Takes you to the official Midjourney website.
  • Favorite : This lets you indicate to others if you like the image that appears. You can also right-click on the art and select Add Reaction to mark it with an emoji.

You can continue to create prompts and get AI-generated art back for as long as the Beta trial is available to you. Note that if Midjourney is experiencing high volumes of users the free trial will not be available until demand calms down.

How to sign up for a Midjourney subscription

You'll have limited access to Midjourney's features unless you decide to actually pay for a subscription. There are three Midjourney subscription plans: A basic plan at $8 per month, a Standard Plan at $24 per month, or a Pro Plan at $48 per month when billed yearly. As you'd expect, the more you pay the more features you get. Here's how to get your subscription.

  • Go to the command box in one of the Newcomer Rooms and type in " /subscription " (without the quotation marks) then select the box that pops up above.

Type "/subscription" into Midjourney's command box.

  • The Midjourney Bot will respond. Select Open subscription page.

Select Open subscription page in Midjourney.

  • Select Yep!

Select Yep! to be taken to the subscription page.

  • You'll be taken to the subscription page. Read each plan's details, select Subscribe on the plan that works best for you, and enter your payment info.

MIdjourney subscription plans.

With a subscription, you'll have priority access to Midjourney over trial users and can have additional perks depending on what plan you chose. Have fun putting whatever prompts you can think of into the AI art generator and tweaking things to get everything just right.

As long as you include plenty of detail in your written prompt Midjourney should be able to pump out something like what you want. You might need to reword yourself or find more descriptive words to type. Look around at other users' prompts to get a better idea of what to type. Really, the possibilities are as endless as your imagination and your ability to describe things.

Since there are several well-founded lawsuits filed against AI-art generator companies, including Midjourney, it's hard to say what the rules surrounding AI-art generation will be in the next few years. At any rate, it's good to think about what the ethical implications are of using software that was fed artwork without the artists' permission.

People looking for an opportunity to dip their toe in art generation through artificial intelligence may have heard about Midjourney Beta and wondered how it works. Much like other AI image generators, it is designed to accept a design prompt or idea in the form of a phrase from a user and use it as inspiration to create captivating pictures. However, instead of running through its own website or mobile app, it is hosted through Discord , a popular chat app.

The addicting pastime of creating unique idea prompts for AI bots to use for art generation was popularized by DALL-E mini, an AI project that recently went viral because users started using the platform to produce hysterically funny concepts with a lot of meme potential. Many AI art generator apps offering additional editing features rose to fame. What seems to set Midjourney Beta apart is the air of exclusivity it seems to project since the AI bot can only be accessed through Discord. However, the community of users the project has amassed on the chat platform thus far takes center stage, along with the ease of use made possible by the app's simple command features.

Those interested in giving Midjourney Beta a whirl need to have an active Discord account. Using a computer or mobile device where they are logged into Discord, go to the Midjourney website and hit 'Join the beta.' This will pull up the Midjourney Discord channel — hit 'Join Midjourney' to gain access to the AI art generation bot — wherein newcomers are given 25 free creation credits to start. Once admitted into the community, find one of the Midjourney Discord #newbies channels available from the sidebar. These channels will contain the Midjourney Bot that does the actual AI image generation. If none are visible, restart the Discord app. Once in the appropriate channel, type '/imagine' into the text field. This should trigger a list of slash commands frequently used in the channel. Next, pick the '/imagine prompt' option. Do note that this particular slash command will only work in channels containing the bot (such as newcomer rooms), so users need to make sure they are in the right place. Next, start typing a string of descriptive keywords for the AI to use as a basis for the art to generate. Finally, press 'Enter' or send the message to finalize the image generation request to the Midjourney Bot. It will take the AI around sixty seconds to generate four image options using the design idea provided.

Midjourney Beta Features That'll Improve Your Art

Along with the four images, a set of buttons should appear. 'U1' through 'U4' are 'upscaling' controls that can resize the chosen image to around 1024 x 1024 pixels. Hitting one of the U buttons will provide additional edit options, such as generating new images, upscaling to a larger resolution, and redoing an upscale attempt. 'V1' through 'V4' are 'variation' buttons that can generate an additional set of four images using one selected from the original four as the basis in terms of composition and overall style . Do note that using any of these buttons will use up one of the 25 free creation credits each time. To check how many are left, type '/info' in the text field.

To pick and download a final AI-generated image, click on one to enlarge it to full size. Then on a desktop, save the generated art by right-clicking it and choosing 'Save image.' On a mobile device, tap the image, then hit the download icon in the top-right corner. The upscaled image, as well as the four grid images generated, will immediately be available to view on the user's Midjourney gallery, which will be accessible when they are signed in to Discord. Additionally, users can also get the Midjourney Bot to send any of the generated images via direct message by pressing the react button on one of the bot's messages that contains the finished product and using an envelope emoji. Simply type 'envelope' into the search bar after hitting the react button and pick the first option.

Some prompts and resulting images featured on the Midjourney website are incredibly detailed and can be used as a guide on how to string words together to create masterpieces. Unfortunately, the initial 25 free credits given to Midjourney newbies will not be replenished daily, so users are encouraged to be mindful of their image editing decisions. Users can type '/subscribe' in any Bot channel to purchase one of the membership plans . For a minimum of $10 per month, Midjourney Beta users can run around 200 image generations (including edits) within 30 days.

What's the best way to write a prompt for Midjourney?

To get the results you are looking for in Midjourney's generated art, you want to write several details in your prompt. You should indicate whether you want it to look realistic or have a specific art style. State what ratio you want the image to be in. Plus, add any other descriptive details like the mood you want the art to have. The more details you give, the more likely Midjourney is to generate the image you're thinking of.

If you have the paid version of Midjourney, you can choose Remix mode to generate additional images that are influenced from your first prompt. This will help you get the exact look you're aiming for.

Generating art for any prompt

If you've never used Discord before then getting started with Midjourney can be a little confusing. However, once you know what to do, you can start issuing AI art prompts and allow Midjourney to handle art generation based on your words.

The varied art styles and uses of color are some of the reasons why Midjourney is considered one of the best AI art generators out there. You can literally give Midjourney any prompt and it will make something out of it that looks like it was created in one of the best drawing apps . Just remember that it is due to the program being fed actual artists' work that it is able to generate the art that it does. Laws surrounding AI art generation might change going forward.

How to use Midjourney to generate AI images

The era of AI-generated artwork is upon us, and the internet is filled with users trying to create the perfect prompts to lead AIs to create just the right images – or sometimes, just the wrong ones. Sound like fun? One of the more common AI tools is Midjourney, which people use to create dreamlike landscapes and subjects with just a few words.

What You Need

Discord account

If you’d like to experiment with Midjourney, we’ve got good news: It’s free to sign up, and you can start trying out the AI generator in just a few minutes. Here’s everything you need to know about using it for the first time.

How to start using Midjourney

Step 1: Make sure you have a Discord login . Though there is a dedicated site now, it is invite only. For the vast majority of us, Midjourney works entirely on Discord, so you’ll need an account there to use it. Signing up for Discord is also free if you haven’t done it yet.

Step 2: Visit the Midjourney website . Here, choose Join the beta . This will automatically take you to a Discord invite.

  • Microsoft says 75% of office workers already use AI at work

Step 3: Accept the Discord invite to Midjourney. Choose to Continue to Discord .

Step 4: Your Discord app will automatically open. When it does, select the ship-like Midjourney icon on the left menu.

Step 5: In the Midjourney channels, locate the Newcomer rooms. There will typically be a number of newcomer rooms open, with names like “newbies-108.” You can select any of these to begin.

Step 6: Now you’re ready to begin creating AI art. Before you get started, note that you only have a certain number of prompt options available as part of your free trial. You can create around 25 free images. After that, you’ll have to purchase a full membership to continue. If you would rather not spend any money, it’s a good idea to take some time and think about just what you want to create on Midjourney. If you want, you can type “/help” to get a list of tips to peruse.

Step 7: When ready, type “/imagine” in the Discord chat for your newbies room. This will create a prompt field where you can type the image description. The more precise that you can be with your description, the better the AI will be able to produce good results. Be descriptive, and if there’s a particular style that you are looking for, include it in your description. There are terms of conduct to follow here, but if you keep things clean, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

When finished, select Enter to send your prompt.

Step 8: Give Midjourney a minute to generate your images. Typically, the AI will create several different versions based on your description. You now have a number of options to continue.

Look below the images, and you’ll see a section of U and V buttons labeled 1 through 4. The numbers correspond to the four images that Midjourney produced. Choosing U will upscale that particular image into a larger, more defined version. Choosing V will create an all-new image based on the present image that you choose. You will also see a refresh button to the side to request a new set of images. Keep in mind that each of these choices will use up some of your available free prompts, so only do it if you are sure you want to proceed.

Step 9: Once you look at a single image, you'll still have some more options about how to alter it: * Vary — Creates four more images that will look somewhat like the selected image. * Zoom Out — Will shrink the image and generate more context-based imagery around it. * Arrows — Will "pan" the image and fill in newly exposed areas with context-based imagery. * Heart Symbol — Will favorite an image, to allow you to find the image easily in your Midjourney Gallery . * Web — Allows you to open the image directly in your Midjourney Gallery.

Step 10: If you plan on using a lot of Midjourney, you can use any bot channel in Midjourney’s Discord and type “/subscribe.” This will create a link that you can follow to pay for a subscription. Those who are really serious about using Midjourney in the long term will also want to take a look at the manual , which will provide you with a greater list of commands and some advice about how to create images.

Midjourney’s enthralling AI art generator goes live for everyone

Mark Hachman

One of the more evocative platforms for AI art, Midjourney, has now opened to everyone in beta mode.

This is the second time that the platform has opened to all as a beta. On July 18, the platform opened up for 24 hours. In an email sent out to Midjourney beta testers on Tuesday, however, founder David Holz wrote that the “Midjourney beta is now open to everyone.”

Midjourney is one of the more interesting entrants in the small but growing field of AI art , which takes user-generated queries, runs them through an AI algorithm, and lets the algorithm pull from its source images and apply various artistic techniques to the resulting image. Midjourney’s images look somewhat similar in quality to those outputted by Latitude’s Voyage , though Latitude charges $14.99 for 20 image credits as part of its paid plan.

For now, beta users will receive about 25 free images as part of the Midjourney beta. After that you’ll have to pay either $10/mo for 200 images per month, or a standard membership of $30 per month for unlimited use. Midjourney will allow corporate use of the generated images for a special enterprise membership. Otherwise, the images belong to you.

On Sept. 29, the “godfather” of AI art, DALL-E, also went “free” on a similar, credit-based plan. DALL-E, however, seems far more literal than Midjourney. If you’re hoping for a more photo-realistic prompt, stick with DALL-E; however, if you prefer more artistic creations, Midjourney seems like the better bet. Meta also showed off Make-A-Video , which takes AI art and interpolates them to create GIFs and small video clips.

There’s only one catch with Midjourney: prompts and the resulting images are generated via Discord, the social networking/chat app. To be part of Midjourney, you’ll need a free Discord membership. (PCWorld’s beginner’s guide to Discord can help you get settled if you’re new to the service.) The following link will sign you up for the Midjourney service: discord.gg/midjourney .

While Midjourney does provide a user manual , using it boils down to this. Within Discord, you’ll need to join one of the quickly growing number of “#newbies” channels — it doesn’t matter which one. Once inside the channel, simply type “/imagine” and then the text prompt. Remember, even though there’s AI generating the output, guiding the style is up to you. It’s worth scrolling up and down the various “newbies” channels to see what prompts generate which responses, and which styles you can apply.

Midjourney

Mark Hachman / IDG

Some results will amaze you; others will disappoint. There’s a bit of luck in it all. I wasn’t nearly as impressed with my “a kraken appears from beneath San Francisco Bay,” but the resulting image from “a castle on an asteroid floating through space” at the top of this story is pretty awesome.

Each time you enter a request, you’ll receive an almost immediate result, in a matrix of four images that are all variations of the theme. Below each image you’ll also see several buttons. Each button has a meaning: the “U” buttons upscale a particular image, for 1 to 4; the “V” buttons ask the AI to provide a variation the theme on the particular image. The circular arrow is a “do over” for the entire array. Be careful! Simply tapping each button generates the command, and charges you an image credit in return.

Midjourney

Don’t be discouraged by the sheer volume of requests, either. Because of the nature of Discord, you’ll see your query and results quickly zoom off the page. To solve this problem, click the inbox item in the upper right-hand corner. (It actually looks an RJ45 Ethernet port on a computer.) That will open up a list of the relevant messages from the Midjourney bot. Click the “jump” button to take you to the actual message in Discord, where you can interact with the image.

Midjourney

You can also find your own personal galley of images simply by visiting your “home page” within Midjourney . You can click the small “ellipsis” menu next to the image to “open [it] in Discord.” That will open Discord and allow you to apply the modifications above.

How to get more Midjourney image credits for free

By default, all of the prompts that you generate are “fast,” or immediate. You can get more image credits, for “free,” by switching to the “/relax” command. This puts your request in a queue, rather than processing it immediately. It’s unclear how long this additional queue time actually is, but Midjourney won’t charge you a credit for using it.

Unfortunately, this loophole only works as a subscriber. On the other hand, if you do end up signing up for the $10/mo plan and get hooked, but can’t justify spending $30 per month on cool images, you might try this option!

How to use Midjourney

Create anything you can imagine when you know how to use Midjourney

A dinosaur on a skateboard created via midjourney

You need to know how to use Midjourney if you want to create some of the most exciting AI art possible. As a self-described “independent research lab exploring new mediums of thought and expanding the imaginative powers of the human species,” Midjourney lets users create anything they can imagine from just text and can now also create text prompts from existing images using the "describe" function.

You might be a little confused as to how to go about using Midjourney to create those awesome AI-generated pieces of art you see — this may be because you need to use Discord instead of a standalone app or webpage. Don't worry though, it's all simple enough to do, and this guide is here to show you how.

Before we get started, make sure you sign up on Midjourney’s website , then sign into Discord . We’ll talk you through the rest, so get your imagination whirring because if you can picture it and describe it, Midjourney can probably draw it.

Midjourney used to other a free limited trial but now it is accepting paid members only, membership starts at $10 for the basic plan, which will get you around 200 image generations a month.

Simple, right? Da Vinci never had it this easy. Make sure to remember, however, that Midjourney is currently only in Beta so don’t expect it to be perfect every single time. Being able to see everyone else’s creations is a great source of inspiration and the Midjourney community even has daily themes to experiment with.

Midjourney now accessible via new website for some: Here’s how you can sign up

Midjourney launches new website for easier ai image generation, but access is limited - for now..

mid journey join beta

Midjourney’s robust text-to-image generator can conjure up virtually any image with remarkable quality. But access was limited to those with Discord accounts, creating a barrier to entry for many users. Midjourney is now eliminating that pain point with a dedicated website.

Initially launched in alpha mode, the new site is currently only available to those who have amassed over 10,000 images through Midjourney on Discord. Per Midjourney’s CEO David Holz, the platform will open up to more users over the coming months.

mid journey join beta

For existing users itching to try the new website, first check your lifetime image count by typing /info in your Midjourney Discord channel. Unless you’ve made Midjourney a full-time job since its July 2022 debut, you probably haven’t make the cut yet. But Holz does promise expanded access down the road.

Several Midjourney geeks with access to the site have taken to social media, sharing videos of how it feels – and it does appear to be a major step up over its former, very limited Discord interface. There’s a lot less coding involved since sliders do the job now, although features like rerolling and face-swapping are currently missing.

Just explored the new Midjourney alpha website – clear UI, amazing search & scroll! My images in a whole new light, so much better than Discord. "Use prompt" & "Use image" features are game-changers for quick experimentation with public prompts & references. #Midjourney pic.twitter.com/cpdDSc5M0I — Ann (@AIFinity76) December 14, 2023

User Nick St. Pierre on X has shared an excellent video highlighting unique features that demonstrate the advantages over Discord. The sliders let you tweak images on metrics like stylisation, weirdness, and variety. The site also simplifies functions like adding a past image into a new prompt and outputting properly sized image formats. There’s also a feature that lets users drag and drop URLs to incorporate images instead of typing out long-form URLs character-by-character.

Midjourney Alpha is officially here!! If you've generated 10k or more images you should have access. This is still the alpha, so things may change a bit. But here is a quick look at image creation on the web. BYE BYE DISCORD 👋 pic.twitter.com/JbS9L7e59P — Nick St. Pierre (@nickfloats) December 12, 2023

Festive offer

For creatives yearning to try Midjourney, its new website does away with the barriers standing in the way. While access remains restricted currently, the AI tool plans to open up its site to more users in early 2024. The platform is also reportedly working on a mobile app for iOS and Android , which will support image generation through both voice and text.

How to sign up for Midjourney

As already stated, unless you’ve used Midjourney more than a dozen times daily since its debut last year, you probably haven’t made it to the access list. If you’re an existing Midjourney user, enter the /info command to check the number of images you’ve generated so far. If you qualify, head over to the Midjourney website and click the button to join the beta. You’ll need to sign in with your Discord account and will need to subscribe to one of the plans.

Midjourney: DALL-E competitor enters open beta

Midjourney: DALL-E competitor enters open beta

With Midjourney, another image AI enters open beta shortly after DALL-E 2. The beta comes with a new algorithm for image generation and further improvements.

DALL-E 2 from OpenAI is currently the top dog among image AIs, and by a wide margin, as the prompt guide from MIXED editor Maximilian Schreiner shows. Last week, OpenAI announced the start of the open beta and the prices .

Now Midjourney, the strongest competitor so far, is following suit with an open beta.

Midjourney starts open beta

From now on you can test Midjourney in open beta. Testers get 25 prompts for free. If you have already tried the Midjourney beta and used up your credit, you will get the 25 free image commands again. This way you can test the new algorithm. My first impression is that it's significantly improved.

Check your inbox or spam folder to confirm your subscription.

Midjourney's price is slightly cheaper than DALL-E 2's: for $10 per month, you get 200 prompts (DALL-E 2: $15 for 115), with each prompt providing four designs that you can then vary or scale up. That means you can create about 800 different motifs. For $30 per month , you get unlimited access.

You can use the images commercially as you wish , with one exception: if the images are created for a company with annual sales of more than $1 million, the unlimited "Corporate Membership" plan will apply for $600 per year .

With this plan, the images created also remain private, meaning they are not uploaded to a publicly viewable gallery by default. Midjourney plans to make this feature available to private users in the future.

New algorithm for image generation

Along with the open beta, Midjourney is launching the third generation of its image algorithm , which the startup calls a "huge, huge change" to the core system. New is the "stylize" argument, which lets you give the AI more or less creative freedom along with your input.

"The stylize argument sets how strong of a 'stylization' your images have, the higher you set it, the more opinionated it will be. If you set it high enough it will get so opinionated it will start ignoring your words," the company writes.

"ChatGPT with no ethical boundaries": WormGPT fuels AI-generated scams

mid journey join beta

The quality argument shortens or lengthens the machine's creative process. Lower levels of quality incur less cost and the generation process is faster. Higher levels can provide more detail, but are more expensive and take longer - up to five minutes in experimental level 5.

In addition to the new algorithm, Midjourney says it has also improved its upscaler, which is now supposed to have "significantly less" distortion and artifacts.

Midjourney is currently only available via Discord. You can access the beta program via this link. In the channel #newbie you can generate your first images with the command "/imagine prompt". After the trial phase, you will be offered a paid membership.

MidJourney V6 Direct Comparison

Now, let’s do a direct comparison between V5.2 and V6. A prompt like “defeated Batman Kodak feature film Ultra HD chaotic cinematic depression heartbreaking Unsplash” in V5.2 yields some cool results.

mid journey join beta

But, in V6, things get even better. For example, Robert Patterson now embodies Batman. Note that prompting in V6 requires a bit of a learning curve, so we’re all in this together!

Cool Examples

Try prompts like “portrait of an Instagram model old Hollywood style” and watch the stunning results unfold. Add the word “unsplash,” and you’ll be amazed by the burst of color in your photo shoots.

Get creative with themes like “gorgeous nautical pirate style” to witness Midjourney’s versatility.

Stylize Test

Experiment with different values to observe the impact on your prompts. Seeds are now more consistent, allowing for simulated photo shoots of specific characters.

More Prompts

Get ready for the cool stuff! From Tom Cruise as a Sith Lord to action scenes featuring Batman versus Superman, the possibilities are endless. Embrace the challenges – V6 isn’t perfect, and sometimes, the prompts need fine-tuning, but the results are worth the effort.

How Many Details Can You Include?

Prepare to be blown away by the power of details. Start small, add one detail at a time, and witness Midjourney’s ability to bring your imagination to life. Go from a “man with blue glasses” to a detailed scenario involving a yellow sports car, a fat cigar, and even a white Siberian tiger.

New Upscaler

Now, let’s upscale our images. V6 introduces two options: upscale subtle and upscale creative. Subtle maintains the original image, while creative adds a touch of Midjourney’s artistic flair. Experiment and find what suits your vision best.

Enter the remix feature. Type “prefer remix” into the prompt box and explore the possibilities. From night scenes to erasing the entire prompt, the remix feature opens up a whole new dimension of creativity. Strong variations can give your images a unique touch, making each creation truly one-of-a-kind.

How-To Geek

Midjourney now has web interface, here's how to use it.

Finally a civilized way to make MidJourney images.

Quick Links

What is midjourney’s web interface, who gets access to the new interface, getting to know the web interface, tips and tricks for generating images the new way, key takeaways.

  • MidJourney now has a user-friendly web interface in alpha development, eliminating need for Discord commands.
  • Initially, users needed 1000 images to access the new interface, now lowered to 100 and soon to be open to all subscribers.
  • The web interface offers easy image generation with settings adjustments, variations, remixed options, and quick access to past creations.

Since it's inception, MidJourney has used the Discord chat platform as an interface for its AI image generation technology. It's not the most elegant solution, but most users have adapted and learned the commands you type in to get the pictures you want. Those times might soon be behind us, as MidJourney now has a web interface in the alpha stages of development.

While it may soon fancy, the new web interface for MidJourney is simply a custom website designed to act as the front end of MidJourney. It's user-friendly, designed specifically for MidJourmey, and doesn't require you to learn any special commands or know how to operate a Discord Bot. It also offers a single destination where you can both browse your own creations and those of other users.

This has been long overdue for MidJourney, which has become incredibly popular in spite of the relatively arcane Discord interface it's used so far. if you have access to

When the alpha version of the website was first unveiled, only MidJourney users who had already generated at least 1000 images using the Discord interface were eligible to try it out. Since then, that number has been lowered way down to only 100 images, and I expect that open access to all subscribers won't be long after the publication of this article. Even so, 100 images isn't much, and if you're a new user you'll blow through that halfway through your first month's allocation of images.

Most people who've been subscribed MidJourney for at least one month will already be eligible, so simply head to Midjourney Web and log in using your Discord credentials.

Assuming that you've got those 100 images in the can, you'll be greeted by the "Explore" page.

To get started making your images, switch to the "Create" tab.

Here you'll find all of your previously created images, with the prompt, and other useful information about that generation to the right.

To start a new image generation, type your prompt into the text field marked with "Imagine..." and press Enter.

Your latest generated images will appear at the top of the "Create" feed.

If you already know how to use MidJourney then just about everything you already know translates to the new web interface. The major difference is that you can now see what your options are rather than remembering them or looking them up in a list. The first thing you'll want to do before submitting your prompt is to click on the three horizontal lines to the right of the prompt field. They look like little setting sliders.

Here you can change some important settings with the click of a button:

  • Under "Image Size" you can change the aspect ratio either with a preset button, or with a slider that has all the most common aspect ratios.
  • Under "Aesthetics" you can adjust how stylized, weird, or varied your generation will be.
  • Under "Model" you can pick one of the older MidJourney image generation models, or switch over to the Niji model for anime-style art .

If you click on any of the images that you've created, you'll also see a set of options for that image.

Here you can:

  • Do subtle or strong variations of the image you've selected.
  • Do a subtle or creative upscale of the image using AI.
  • Remix the image.
  • Pan or zoom the image .
  • Vary one region of the image that you're not happy with, such as a deformed hand.
  • Run the same prompt again.
  • Reuse the image, image style, or prompt as the basis for a new image.

All of these functions were already available using the Discord interface, but now it's easier to use than ever.

The last important tip you'll need is that you can still use most parameter commands in the prompt window. So you can still specify custom aspect ratios or use negative prompts . It really is the best of both worlds.

It has been quite the journey since our first gameplay tease of Lords of the Fallen at The Game Awards last year. We were overwhelmed by the positive response from players around the world who hungered for more details — today we’re more than willing to meet your craving with new details and an all-new gameplay trailer featuring the lords of metal themselves, Iron Maiden.

The newest trailer will take you deeper into the realm of Mournstead, a world split between the land of the living, and the hellish world of the dead, and the malevolence awaiting those brave enough to step into.

A Dark Fantasy Narrative

One of our main pillars in creating Lords of the Fallen has always been the dark world of Mournstead — we want you to become enveloped and engorged by the dark fantasy narrative, a world dripping with atmosphere and history. To ground this, our religious thematic encompasses both gameplay and narrative, spurring the actions of all the characters involved in the grim events depicted in Lords of the Fallen .

In the opening cinematic you’ll meet one of the three faiths, the Dark Crusaders, who who kneel before the First Luminary Casilium. Just as any religion in Lords of the Fallen , Casilium demands utmost faith from his disciples, none more so than from his war dogs, the self-righteous and indomitable aphotic war priests. Here you can see the reverence they hold for their better, accepting the boon of red sanctifying their future bloodwork in holy accordance of the Orian church.

A Vast, Interconnected World

Right from the beginning, you will soon come to realise that not all is as it seems in Mornstead; As an Umbral revenant, they are trapped between two co-existing but opposite worlds, one of the living, and the other a hellscape of corruption made manifest. The linchpin of this dual existence is the Umbral Lamp, which fuels an array of dark abilities, allowing you to exist with one foot in each world — transition between realms or flay the souls of the living. Mastering these dark powers and peeling away the Umbral layers will take you on a grim and heroic journey of seething conflict and dark revelations.

Explosive Combat

Lords of the Fallen expands on the predecessor with an array of ranged attack options, from spells, bows, crossbows, throwable axes, bombs, javelins, and banners. The combat is also faster and smoother, cut from the same medieval grim fantasy cloth as all the other elements in the game world.

We have made combat feel fluid and intuitive starting from your first playthrough, allowing for an accessible pick and play experience. Those of you who are willing to master the combat system fully can become gods of death in this world, seamlessly switching mid-swings between stances or charge attacks, to utilizing Umbral Lamp abilities on the fly, all without the need to switch weapons.

Gen.g wins the ‘league of legends’ mid-season invitational.

MSI has come to an end after an epic few weeks.

Gen.G Esports has won the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational tournament in Chengdu, China, beating Bilibili Gaming in the grand final.

Gen.G took a 3-1 win in the grand final of MSI, with Bilibili Gaming struggling to match them despite being in front of a home crowd in China. However, the result was not a massive surprise given how strong Gen.G had been all tournament.

Entering the event as the top seed from the LCK, Gen.G were a favorite to win the event from the start. The roster is seen as something of a super team in League of Legends and has lived up to that billing. In the opening round of the MSI bracket stage, they took down European side Fnatic 3-0 before beating Top Esports 3-2 in the next round.

Then they matched up against Bilibili for the first time in the winner's bracket final and took a reasonably convincing 3-1 win to secure a spot in the final. However, many expected Bilibili to learn from this defeat and come back stronger if they could make it to the final.

Bilibili had a slightly harder run to the final, taking out PSG.Talon and world champions T1 in the upper bracket before being sent down to the lower bracket for a rematch with T1 to see who could make it to the final. They again took them down in a close 3-2 series to set up the rematch with Gen.G in the final.

The final started out very one sided, with Gen.G taking a convincing victory in the first two games where they rarely looked troubled. Game three did go Bilibili’s way where they took an early lead and never let it go, and then game four turned from what should have been a simple Gen.G win to an epic game off the back of a big Baron steal from Bilibili. In the late stages either team could have won but it was Gen.G who took the win to win MSI.

In game two of the grand final, Gen.G’s Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan set a new all-time kill record in a single game at a top level international event with a total of 28, smashing the previous record of 18. It was a dominant performance, although was stalled out with one big play from Bilibili in the final stages which helped Peyz achieve such a high kill count in what was a fairly one-sided match.

The win at MSI sees Gen.G take home the $50,000 first-place prize but more importantly automatic qualification to the League of Legends World Championship which is due to culminate in London, England at the end of the year. Bilibili take home $40,000 for second with T1 getting $30,000 for third. European side G2 Esports round out the top four with a $25,000 prize.
