외국 여권 소지자이면서 한국에서 거소신고를 한 재외동포는, 한국에 입국할때 ‘대한민국 여권’ 줄에 서서 입국심사를 받을수 있습니다.

유럽연합(EU)이 2024년부터 외국인을 대상으로 시행할 계획이었던 온라인 입국 허가제(유럽여행정보인증제도: ETIAS)의 도입을 2025년으로 연기하였습니다

ETIAS는 EU 회원국 30개국을 여행하려는 외국인은 사전에 ETIAS 사이트에 들어가 개인정보와 보안과 관련한 항목 등에 정보를 입력한 뒤 입국 허가를 신청하고, 심사 후 특별한 문제가 발견되지 않으면 입국 승인이 이뤄지도록 하는 시스템입니다.

한국여권 소지 영주권자 해당…캐나다 시민권자는 예외

쿠바를 방문했던 사람들이나 쿠바 복수국적자는 미국 방문시 전자여행허가제(ESTA) 적용대상에서 제외돼 여행비자를 발급받아야 미국 방문이 가능해졌다.

미국 관세국경보호청(U.S. Customs And Border Protection)은 홈페이지를 통해 2021년1월이후 쿠바 방문 이력이 있거나 또는 ESTA 신청 시점을 기준으로 쿠바 복수 국적을 보유한 사람들은 ESTA 적용 배제 조치 시행으로 인해 입국이 거절된다고 밝혔다. CBP는 이번 조치가 대상자들의 미국 방문을 차단하는 것은 아니며 대상자들은 반드시 여행용 비자를 발급받아야 입국이 가능하다고 설명했다. 이번 조치는 미국의 비자면제프로그램(VWP)에 의해 ESTA 적용을 받는 국가 국민을 대상으로 한 것이다. 미국 비자면제 프로그램 강화법에 따르면 VWP 해당 국가는 한국을 비롯해 호주, 프랑스, 일본, 영국 등 40개국이 포함되어 있다.

캐나다는 VWP에 포함되어 있지 않다. 미국과 캐나다는 양국간 별도 협정을 통해 비자면제프로그램이 적용되며 이에 따라 유효한 캐나다 여권을 갖고 있는 시민권자들은 이번 조치에 해당되지 않고 비자 없이 미국 방문이 가능하다.

하지만 캐나다 영주권자들은 이번 CBP 조치로 인해 최근 쿠바 방문 전력이 있다면 미국 방문시 비자를 받아야 입국이 가능하다.

주한미국대사관도 이같은 내용을 지난 6일 한국 정부(외교부)에 통보하면서 다만 공무상의 이유로 쿠바를 방문한 군인이나 공무원은 예외라고 덧붙였다. 이에 따라 한국 외교부는 쿠바 방문객 및 쿠바 복수 국적자들이 ESTA를 통해 미국을 방문할 경우 입국이 거부될 수 있다며 각별한 유의가 필요하다고 10일 발표했다.

외교부에 따르면 이미 ESTA를 발급받아 유효기간이 남아있더라도 위 요건에 해당하면 ESTA가 취소될 수 있으며 이 경우 미 당국이 당사자에게 별도로 통지할 예정이다. 쿠바는 지난 2021년1월12일부터 테러지원국으로 지정됐으며 이날 이후 쿠바를 방문한 사람들에게 이 조치가 적용된다. 미국이 지정한 테러지원국은 쿠바를 비롯해 북한, 이란, 시리아가 포함되어 있다. 따라서 이들 국가 방문자도 ESTA 배제 대상자가 된다.

이같은 미국의 ESTA 배제 조치는 지난 2023년 7월 6일 자정(캐나다 동부시간)부터 적용되기 시작했다.

미국 방문비자(B-1/B-2)는 일반적으로 3일 정도 소요되지만 인터뷰 일자나 신청자의 상황에 따라 추가 서류가 필요할 수도 있어 입국 예정일로부터 약 3개월 전에 신청할 것을 전문가들은 권하고 있다. 

캐나다 시민권자는 앞으로 관광 비자 없이 90일 동안 튀르키예를 방문할 수 있다. 튀르키예는 자국을 방문하려는 캐나다 관광객들의 비자 요건을 최근 해제했다. 이전에는 캐나다에서 온 방문객들이 튀르키예 입국을 위해 관광비자 신청시 미화 60달러를 지불해야 했다. 이번 변경 사항은 지난해 12월 23일 터키 관보에 발표되었으며, 미국, 바레인, 아랍 에미리트 연합국, 오만, 사우디아라비아 및 캐나다에서 입국하는 관광객이 대상이다. 튀르키예 대사관은 “이번 변경 사항은 12 월 26일부터 캐나다인에게 적용된다”고 발표했다. 공지에 따르면 이번 발표는 레제프 타이이프 에르도안 터키 대통령이 유럽 연합과의 협정의 일환으로 서명한 포고령에 따른 것이다. 그러나 튀르키예를 방문하는 목적이 취업, 사업, 학생, 의료일 경우 반드시 비자를 신청해야 한다.

Canadians scaling back summer travel plans due to cost of living: CIBC

Summer travel season is upon us, but a good number of Canadians say they’re cutting back on their plans over the next couple of months because they just can’t afford to spend as much.

More than a quarter of the Canadians who responded to a CIBC summer spending poll say they are scaling back summer travel plans as they grapple with the high cost of living.

Of those who say they’ve already booked time off, almost two-thirds say they’re taking a budget-conscious approach to summer fun. Four-in-10 shared they intend to spend less than $2,000 on travel.

To stretch those dollars further, most plan to keep travel within Canada. Half are choosing more affordable options like road trips, and one in five are camping to reduce expenses.

Outside of travel, many Canadians indicate they are also cutting back on day-to-day expenses and forgoing big purchases this summer. Another poll, actually done for a major auto manufacturer, suggests more than half of us are dealing with the current economic climate by delaying or cancelling at least one major purchase.

Regionally, B.C. residents are among the most likely to delay travel plans, the survey found.
