  • Why Should I book with Travel Allure instead of doing it myself? Travel Allure is the go-to place for all your travel needs. With a team of experts who have years worth experience in this industry, we can offer you advice on what destinations would be best suited to fit both budget and personal interests. We also offer free consultation services so that our customers are guaranteed quality service before they book anything else. In addition we have partnerships with global brand such as Secrets Resorts & Spa and Hardrock Resorts who offer our clients exclusive deals on all inclusive stays, amenities and more.
  • How much do you charge? Unlike many travel booking sites, we don't charge our clients a penny to design their itineraries or select the best vendors for their needs. Instead, we get compensated through commissions received from our partners, putting all our focus on creating the most personalized and enjoyable itinerary for each one of our clients, free of charge.
  • Do I have to pay for my vacation package in full? Depending on how far in advance you plan your trip and book your vacation, you may not need to pay for it in full. Many vendors, like American Airlines Vacations, offer payment plans with small deposits that help to break up the cost into more manageable chunks. Furthermore, some vendors even offer discounts if you book early or during particular times of year.
  • Do I need a passport? A passport is the best form of identification when traveling and a requirement for international travel. Domestic travel within the United States requires a state-issued driver's license or identification. Please note: Beginning October 1, 2021, any state-issued ID or license used as identification within the U.S. must be compliant with REAL ID. If you aren’t sure if your ID complies with REAL ID, check with your state department of motor vehicles or click here to view TSA’s REAL ID guidelines. U.S citizens can travel freely between the U.S Virgin Islands and other U.S territories without a passport – all that is required is proof of U.S citizenship such as a driver's license or birth certificate. The U.S virgin island consist of Saint Thomas, Saint John, Saint Croix, and Water Island, as well as several dozen smaller islands.
  • Do I need travel insurance? Traveling can be an exciting and rewarding experience, but it comes with its share of risks and challenges. From unexpected weather delays to flight cancellations, there are any number of situations that can interrupt or interfere with a trip. To help address these potential issues, we strongly recommend travelers to purchase travel insurance. Depending on the vendor, you will have the option to purchase a pre-departure waiver. A pre-departure waiver is an important document that is designed to protect your travel plans prior to departure. By signing this waiver, you are stating that you understand the terms and conditions of your trip, including all associated costs and risks. Additionally, if you end up canceling your trip for any reason, a pre-departure waiver can help to ensure that you will be fully refunded by a specified date before your departure date.
  • Do you offer transportation from the airport to my resort/hotel? We include roundtrip shuttle transportation to and from the airport in all of our packages. Whether you are traveling solo or with a group, we make sure shuttle transportation gets you to and from your destination easily and hassle free.
  • What Travel vendors do you work with? We work with world class vendors who offer our clients exclusive deals. Here's a list of our premier vendors: Funjet Vacations American Airlines Vacations Gogo Vacations Classic Vacations Pleasant Holidays Royal Caribbean Carnival Cruise Virgin Voyages Norwegian Cruise Line MSC Cruises
  • What does all inclusive mean? All inclusive vacations are an excellent option for travelers who want to have all of their accommodations and travel arrangements taken care of in advance. Typically, all inclusive packages include all meals and drinks, as well as transportation, accommodation, and activities. This type of vacation is great for those who value convenience and flexibility, allowing them to enjoy all the sights and sounds of a destination without having to worry about having enough money to cover all the costs. Furthermore, all inclusive vacations often offer a wide range of activities for travelers to choose from, leaving them free to explore all that a destination has to offer at their own pace. Majority of Caribbean islands and non U.S territory offer all-inclusive resort stays. Hotels and resorts within the U.S do not offer all inclusive amenities.
  • How early should I arrive to the airport for my flight? The generally recommended time of pre-arrival is two hours for domestic travel and three hours prior to departure when flying internationally.
  • What kind of vacations do Travel Allure book? We are passionate about creating unique and customized vacations to just about any destination in the world. Travel Allure specializes in destination weddings, honeymoon vacations, luxury group vacations, adults only vacations, solo vacations, cruises and more.
  • Should I get TSA pre-check? or Global Entry? TSA pre-check, also known as TSA screening, is an expedited security process that allows passengers to bypass the usual rigors of TSA screenings before boarding a plane within the United States. TSA pre-check utilizes information from trusted traveler programs or background records checks to determine who can benefit from the program. Global Entry, on the other hand, is a program to facilitate entry back into the United States when returning from other countries. This program uses similar information, such as travel histories or criminal records, to verify traveler identities and grant approved travelers faster entry into the US. Whether you're looking to take advantage of TSA pre-check or global entry, these two programs have become valuable resources for frequent flyers and international travelers alike.
  • Why should I work with Travel Allure for my destination wedding? As trusted destination wedding specialists, we act as a liaison and advocate between you and your wedding planner at the resort, helping to make sure that every aspect of your special day proceeds smoothly. Additionally, we also provide accommodations for your wedding party and out-of-town guests.
  • How much does a destination wedding cost? Planning a destination wedding can be an overwhelming and expensive process. The average cost of such a wedding typically ranges from $5000 to $35000, depending on the destination and the scope of the event. However, some resorts are able to offer destination weddings for free, or at least at a significant discount, in order to attract new customers and build up their brand. If you are considering having a destination wedding, it is important to do your research ahead of time. Look for resorts or venues with comprehensive packages that include all of the essential elements, including catering, decorations, and entertainment. Additionally, be sure to factor in any additional costs that may be associated with traveling to your destination and booking accommodations for your guests. With careful planning and by taking advantage of discounts or special offers when available, you can ensure that your destination wedding will be affordable and memorable for all those involved.
  • Do we have to pay for our guests or wedding party’s travel and accommodations? As the bride or groom in a destination wedding, you typically do not have to pay for your guests' hotel accommodations. Instead, your only costs will be for their attendance at the ceremony and reception. This is a major benefit of having a destination wedding, as it means that your guests will not have to incur extra travel expenses in order to attend your big day. Additionally, many destination hotels offer special rates and packages for destination weddings — some resort even offer free weddings (make sure to ask your Travel Allure agent), making it easy and affordable to accommodate all of your guests.
  • What are the benefits of having a destination wedding? If you're looking for a unique, memorable wedding experience, then consider having a destination wedding. First and foremost, destination weddings allow couples to have a one-of-a-kind ceremony in a setting that is truly special, whether that be on an exotic beach or in picturesque mountainside chapel. Additionally, destination weddings often offer more flexible guest lists, since guests who may not be able to afford long trips can still attend. Furthermore, destination weddings typically involve less planning stress for the couple and their loved ones, since the event is already planned out for them by professionals at the destination venue.
  • How can I ensure my guest can afford to attend our destination wedding? When it comes to destination weddings, planning ahead is key. After all, your guests need enough time to save and budget for such a big event, especially if it involves traveling to a different destination. Additionally, the destination and the season are important factors to consider when choosing your wedding destination. For example, if you live in Florida, a destination wedding in the Caribbean will likely be more accessible for your guests than one in Hawaii. On the other hand, if you live on the west coast, Mexico may be a great option. At hotels and resorts around the world, we understand that destination weddings can involve a variety of different budgets. That's why we offer an "Easy Payment Plan" to help break up payments for your wedding guests. Furthermore, by creating a group room block ahead of time, it's easy to lock in affordable rates for all of your guests.
  • How far in advance should I be planning my destination wedding? Planning a destination wedding is no small feat, and it's important to start thinking about all the details well in advance. The ideal timeframe for starting to plan a destination wedding is around 9-15 months before the big day, as this allows you to secure the best travel rates and have plenty of time to nail down all the logistics of your special event.
  • What places would you recommend for a destination wedding? At Travel Allure, we specialize in destination weddings and know the best locations for your special day. Our top recommendations are Caribbean, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Dominican Republic, St.Lucia, Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, U.S Virgin Islands, Barbados, Antiqua, Cancun, Tulum, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Hawaii, Bermuda and more.
  • How do I get a destination wedding marriage license? When planning a destination wedding, it is important to understand the different options available when obtaining your marriage license. Depending on where you are getting married, there may be several different methods of obtaining this important document. One option is to consider whether you want your destination wedding ceremony to be legal or symbolic in nature. For many couples, it is simpler to have a brief symbolic wedding ceremony rather than a more formal, legal one. This can help to minimize the paperwork and other logistical requirements involved with destination weddings, while still allowing you and your partner to celebrate your union in an idyllic location. Another factor to consider when obtaining a destination wedding marriage license is whether you will be doing so before or after your wedding day. Some couples choose to make their destination wedding official by obtaining the license in their home state before traveling for their ceremony, while others decide to do so afterwards. It is important to check with your Travel Allure consultant for guidance on the best approach for your situation and location. Regardless of how you obtain the license, however, it is essential that you follow all required
  • How should I travel on the plan with my wedding dress? When traveling to your wedding destination with a wedding dress, it can be tempting to worry about how your gown will handle the journey. The first and most important recommendation is to either pack the wedding dress in your carry-on or bring it on board the airplane with you in a garment bag. Many airlines will allow wedding couples to hang their wedding attire in the closet for them during the flight, so this is a great way to ensure that your wedding dress travels in style. Another helpful tip is to call ahead and speak directly with an airline representative. They can provide you with guidance on how best to safely transport your wedding dress, as well as any other special travel arrangements that might be necessary.
  • How do I travel with wedding gift bags and favors? Planning a destination wedding can be a costly endeavor, and it is important to keep costs in mind when selecting gifts for your guests. A simple way to save money on gifts is to forego traditional options like traditional wedding favors or expensive store-bought gifts. Instead, consider creating a honeymoon registry or including a few links to gift ideas on your destination wedding website. Additionally, be sure to check with your destination wedding venue to see what items they are able to provide and/or accommodate onsite.

How to spend a day in Philadelphia, finding nourishment for body and soul

With a burgeoning food and art scene, and diverse neighbourhoods to explore, there’s plenty to fill a day in Philly.

The East Coast city of Philadelphia is often overlooked in favour of its big-hitting neighbours – New York to the north and Washington, DC to the south. But visitors here are rewarded with fantastic food, whether at a market stall or high-end restaurant; strollable, mural-lined streets; and a lively cultural scene, from art galleries to jazz bars. Here’s how to make the most of your time in the city.

8am: Breakfast at Reading Terminal Market

As the market tends to be less busy first thing, it’s a great place for breakfast. Slide into one of the kitschy booths at Down Home Diner for country-style cooking like grits and eggs, or head to El Merkury for Central American street food such as Salvadorian pupusas : cornmeal pockets stuffed with meat, veg or cheese. Pick up a coffee and one of Beiler’s Doughnuts namesake pastries for the road — its 50 toppings include M & Ms and Fruity Pebbles cereal.

10am: Go on a mural art tour

The mural capital of the world, Philadelphia is home to over 4,000 public art works, created as part of Mural Arts Philadelphia. Initially an anti-graffiti initiative, the programme uses panels of wall-hung parachute cloth to channel the creativity of local people from all walks of life. Mural Arts Philadelphia’s itineraries include a 90-minute route through Center City’s ‘Mural Mile’. Don’t miss Saligman’s Philadelphia Muses, a modern interpretation of the classical muses, or contributions from artists Shepard Fairey and Amy Sherald, known for their portraits of the Obamas.

1pm: Browse and snack at Yowie

A sedate redbrick exterior on South Street conceals this colourful boutique hotel and lifestyle shop. Incense by upmarket brand Agaric Fly scents the small-but-considered space, where founder Shannon Maldonado curates a collection of work by independent artists and designers. Check out the clothing and interiors range before heading to Yowie’s all-day cafe, Wim. A seasonal salad — plus one of its signature rosemary orange espresso tonics — should see you through until dinner.

An old cobblestone street with a red brick house with red doors, and red window shutters.

2pm: Race through city history

Philadelphia’s Old City (part of its Historic District) is home to an extraordinary density of National Historical Landmarks, including the Liberty Bell, a hallowed symbol of US independence. Head 15 minutes east to stroll the cobbles of America’s oldest residential street, Elfreth’s Alley (1705): a picturesque row of Federal and Georgian houses that are still occupied today. Then take a cab to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, featured in the hit 1976 film Rocky . Every day, countless visitors copy Sly Stallone’s titular pugilist by racing up the 72 stone steps of its East entrance.

4pm: Explore Fishtown

Historically the centre of Philadelphia’s fishing industry, this neighbourhood on the Delaware River has become a hub for young creatives. Follow Frankford Avenue and you can’t go wrong — it strings together an apparently endless supply of cool small businesses. Pick up a coffee at premium roaster Persimmon , then disappear inside the cavernous Jinxed : a shoppable museum stocking everything from antique maps to Tiffany-style lamps. Head north past various vintage stores until you hit eclectic and super-friendly boutique Downerss , which sells women’s clothing and interiors objets .

( A guide to Philadelphia, the northeast US city stepping out of NYC's shadow .)

6pm: Drink Pennsylvania wine

Urban winery Mural City Cellars sources its grapes from a 300-mile radius of the city and commissions local artists to design the labels. Winemaker and sommelier Nicholas Ducos is often on hand to recommend a fresh new drop to go with a build-your-own cheese or charcuterie board. Its whites and rosé are particularly strong, as are bubbles like ‘pét-nat’ (‘Pétillant Naturel’, French for ‘naturally sparkling’). Its warehouse bar on Frankford Ave is buzzy on weekends.

8pm: Have dinner at Laser Wolf

One of the city’s most coveted tables is at this Israeli-style shipudiya (Hebrew for ‘skewer house’) in Fishtown that’s named after the butcher in Jewish musical Fiddler on the Roof. Its menu is packed with meat cooked over charcoal — plus flavour-packed vegetables like shawarma-spiced cauliflower and royal trumpet mushroom shishlik (skewers). An open kitchen adds to the convivial atmosphere, as do huge windows and high ceilings strung with paper lanterns and trailing plants. Don’t miss out on characterful cocktails like rum punch Charred for Life.

A glass platter with matching steel bowls around the edge with different food items in each, and is sitting on a blue houndstooth table.

10pm: Catch a show at Chris’ Jazz Cafe

Responsible for helping to create legends such as John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie and Billie Holiday, Philadelphia has serious jazz pedigree — so finish up with a nightcap at one of Center City’s best-loved live music venues, which this year celebrates its 35th year. Low-lit and wood-panelled, the space has a sense of reverential intimacy, with draught beers and old-school spirits served at the bar (as well as a stage-side set menu). Students from the city’s many music schools fill the audience, and the performers are often real raconteurs.

New translation device aims to help TSA agents, travelers communicate at PHL

G oing through the TSA checkpoint at the airport can be a stressful experience. Now, imagine that on top of that stress, you can't understand what the officers are saying to you.

Well, a new translation tool that fits in the palm of your hand is being tested at the Philadelphia International Airport with the hope of helping travelers who are not only limited speaking English but who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who are blind or have low vision.

Léelo en español aquí

"I meet people on a daily basis who do not speak English here at the airport," TSA officer Julio Rodriguez said as he explained why this new device is so critical.

A TSA officer or a traveler can speak into the device in their native tongue and it will translate that message into the selected language.

The device not only audibly reads the message out loud, but it also displays the message on its screen.

These devices are part of a TSA pilot program being tested out at ten airports across the country, including PHL.

"We need to be able to communicate with our travelers," Christine Assili, of the TSA, said.

It's a device that's smaller than a smartphone, but it can translate more than 80 languages.

“Many times there’s miscommunication which of course when there is miscommunication there is misunderstanding and that’s the last thing we want for the traveling public," Assili explained.

The TSA says they've seen some challenges while testing them out including mistranslations that make them rephrase what they're trying to say, but they've also seen the benefit.

“I think with this device it will make it more convenient for us and easier for the passengers," TSA officer Youssef Sabiri told NBC10.

The devices are wireless and run off of WiFi or data connection. TSA officials say that the devices do not need to be connected to anything so they can be moved to wherever they're needed.

Last year, 28 million people traveled through the airport and 3.6 million of those landed on international flights.

“It’s a great place just to hear the energy and the languages...but also even better to be able to help folks along their journey," Denise Bailey, of the Philadelphia International Airport, said.

The devices join several other language access programs at PHL.

Finally, Philly Gets Cheap, Non-Stop Flights to Copenhagen

Plus, the New York Post calls Philadelphia "a model of urban order."

If you, like me, have been trying to figure out your summer vacation plans, I have this bit of news for you: Nonstop flights from Philadelphia to Copenhagen launch next week. And you can get in for as little as $515 roundtrip.

American Airlines announced the new Philadelphia-Copenhagen flights last year, and service begins on Thursday, June 6th. The flights leave Philadelphia International Airport at 9:35 p.m. You will, let’s hope, fall fast asleep. And after a seven hour, thirty-five minute flight, you land at Copenhagen Airport a.k.a. Kastrup at 11:10 a.m. The return flights leave Copenhagen at 2 p.m. and arrive in Philadelphia 4:30 p.m. the same day.

I did lots of searching and found plenty of roundtrip fares for $650 to $850. And quite a few for under $600 and some as low as $515. For instance, if you want to spend August 12th through August 21st in Copenhagen, American Airlines will get you there for $515.60, carry-on bag and personal item included. And, yes, that includes taxes and fees.

some of the scenery you can expect if you book one of the new Philadelphia-Copenhagen flights

Lonely Planet called Copenhagen the world’s best city to travel to in 2019. Two years later, CNN dubbed Copenhagen “Europe’s new capital of cool.” And some have called Copenhagen the happiest city in the world , which sounds pretty good to me right about now.

Now before you go booking that flight, I should also tell you that, like most of Scandinavia, Copenhagen is among the most expensive places in Europe to visit. So do your research.

NY Post: Philadelphia Is a “Model of Urban Order”

Infamous New York Post ranter Steve Cuozzo is out with his latest rant about New York , a metropolis he complains about incessantly.

But in this case, the guy who hates bicyclists and once blamed Anthony Bourdain for the proliferation of food trucks (the horror!) uses Philadelphia as his point of comparison for New York. Historically, of course, New Yorkers have enjoyed looking down on Philadelphia. But Cuozzo praises Philadelphia as a “model of urban order,” which is probably causing more than a few Philadelphians to have a good laugh. He points out that while New York is littered with scaffolding tunnels (he’s right about that!), he couldn’t find one in Philadelphia. He noted our absence of “unlicensed junk sellers” on the sidewalks.”

But the biggest selling point to Cuozzo seemed to be Philadelphia’s “near-absence of bike lanes.” He explained that “Philly motorists are spared the havoc wrought by the lanes.” He noted that he was able to cross intersections “without a wrong-way cyclist bearing down on me.” And he loved, loved, loved that he would “stroll sidewalks without fear of being sideswiped by heedless, law-breaking jerks on wheels.”

Gave me a good laugh.

A Wild Weekend at the Jersey Shore

A stabbing in Ocean City. A state of emergency in Wildwood . And a shooting in Atlantic City . Not a great way to kickoff Unofficial Summer!

By the Numbers

$12.9 million: Asking price for the above Gladwyne mansion that was built in 2011 for the previous owner of some hockey team. Yes, $12.9 million is a lot of money. But when you consider that there’s a a tennis court, a basketball court, an indoor pool, a wine cellar, a cinema with stadium seating, and the fact that the asking price was $28 million in 2016, it’s a bona fide bargain!

0: Days of rain in the forecast for the next seven days. Highs will hover between the mid-70s and mid-80s. Down the Shore, a perfect week for bike riding and afternoon sun. But if you’re thinking of going swimming, just know that ocean temperatures are still in the low 60s.

Local Talent

The Roots Picnic rolls into town this weekend at the Mann Center with a lineup that includes local luminaries like Adam Blackstone, Jill Scott, Beanie Sigel, and, well, the Roots. Tickets are $135 for one day or $250 for a two-day pass. The top VIP pass costs $1,399 and includes the all important air-conditioned restroom trailer with attendants. The Roots Picnic not for you? Don’t worry, we have plenty of other suggestions right here .

And From the Freaky-Streaky Sports Desk …

On Friday night in Colorado against the lowly Rockies, Bryce Harper got his ass thrown out of the game in the first inning for grumbling about a called third strike. Could be worse, I guess.

Everybody but the ump agreed the ump was dumb, and Phillies shifted every which way, with Johan Rojas coming in for Harper but playing left field. Lefty Ty Blach was the Rockies starter, and he only allowed one hit — a Realmuto single — until the fifth, when Castellanos and Sosa both hit solo homers. Cristopher Sánchez, pitching for us, allowed one run in that same inning on a double and two singles, and Thomson yanked him in the sixth after he gave up a walk and a single, bringing on Orion Kerkering. Jeff Hoffman pitched a one-two-three eighth, and José Alvarado got two outs in the ninth before Jacob Stallings pinch-hit a homer to tie the game. Free baseball!

The Phils loaded them up with one out in the 10th, but Schwarbs and J.T. couldn’t bring the runners around. The Rockies didn’t score against José Ruiz either, though, so on to the 11th, when Gregory Soto gave up two walks to load the bases and a Tovar hit walked it off. Bummer. Euphoria gone. We suck.

Saturday night’s matchup saw the Phils take a first-inning lead on singles by Schwarber and Harper off Dak Hudson. Aaron Nola uncharacteristically walked two in their half, and a Brendan Rogers single tied it. The Rockies took the lead in the second, with a single, a stolen base, and one more single, and added another in the third on a single, a Marsh error, and a pair of ground-outs.

We got one back in the fifth on a Garrett Stubbs single and steal and a Schwarber sac fly. Nola, who’d retired seven straight batters, came out for Seranthony Domínguez, and he pitched up a single to Brenton Doyle, who stole second and then third before Stubbs made a nice play to end the inning. José Ruiz pitched the bottom half with no damage, and Marsh led off our last chance with a walk. Sosa hit a ball to the right corner, and Marsh hightailed it all the way home to tie it up! Sosa wound up at third, and Stubbs singled him around for the 4-3 lead. After a double play, Schwarber doubled, Stott walked, and then the murders began. Harper hit a three-run round-tripper.

Bohm promptly doubled, and Castellanos singled him in before getting thrown out trying to take second. So: 8-3 lead for Spencer Turnbull in the bottom of the ninth, and he kept it right there. Go team!

On Sunday, I was at the grandkid’s third birthday party all afternoon, which was a blessing, because Ranger Suárez lost for the first time all season, going six innings and giving up five runs, including a two-run homer by Ryan McMahon, in a 5-2 loss to the Rockies. We only lose to the Rockies. First series loss since March. Two of the runs came on a rather egregious throwing error by Alec Bohm.

The Rockies lead is 5-0 after this error from Alec Bohm: B-Rod gets credited for a RBI! pic.twitter.com/Ye75kUDMUO — Blake Street Banter ⚾🌮 (@blakestbanter) May 26, 2024

If he hadn’t been playing so well, we’d all be mad at him.

And Memorial Day? It was the opener of the Phils’ road series with the Giants, with Blake Snell on the mound for them and Taijuan Walker for us. In the bottom of the second, the Giants took off, scoring three runs on a walk, a single, a double and two more singles. But Schwarbs answered with a two-run homer after Rojas singled in the third, and still-hot Sosa tripled in the fourth and scored on a wild pitch. Merrifield reached first on a throwing error and stole second, and Rojas knocked him in with another single. Who says we only beat lousy teams?

In the bottom half, the Giants got a single and a double, then two runs as Bohm repaid the error. Walker let through another run in the sixth on a walk and a double: 6-4 Giants. Maybe we do only beat lousy teams. José Ruiz came in for Walker in the bottom half, and oh boy, another Bohm error. Whoops, and one by Merrifield, too! Crikey, and a single that scored two more runs. Matt Strahm got his job done in the eighth, but it was too late: an 8-4 loss. C’mon, guys, let’s get going again!

Any Doop News?

They were in Charlotte on Saturday night, in a stadium where they’ve never won — mostly because they’ve only played there twice. Julían Carranza had a number of credible shots in the first half, but none went in. It was a fast-paced, evenly matched game. The second half was somewhat less exciting, though Dániel Gazdag just missed what looked to be a huge opportunity in the 85th minute. That was it in the end: one point for us for a 0-0 tie.

We take home a point! ⚡️ #DOOP | #CLTvPHI 0-0 | @PennMedicine pic.twitter.com/cTk10KUovo — Philadelphia Union (@PhilaUnion) May 26, 2024

Oliver Semmle had several really good saves, but if having him in goal still makes you nervous, you’ll think Andre Blake is worth every penny of his big new Union contract.
