European Tour of Texas

tour de paris texas 2022

Are You Ready for the Challenge?

The European Tour of Texas is a bundle of 4 small community bike rides that share a European Theme. They live up to their European Heritage with challenging routes, a variety of distances and blend it all with Texas Hospitality. We’ve ridden these rides for decades and know that they are all committed to providing an excellent ride experience.

The best part of this series is that you get to pick the size challenge that you want. A variety of route distances makes it possible for cyclists of varying ability levels to pick the challenge that fits their legs, lungs and saddle muscles. You also have the option on riding all 4 OR selecting a 3 ride package.

Some rides have made their T-shirt an optional item with an additional cost. During our registration process, you can ADD those items and cost if you like.

Here are the rides and dates in addition to route distances offered:

Muenster Metric Ride           April 27, 2024              Muenster, TX                Routes of 22, 40 and 63 miles

Bosque Tour de Norway       May 18, 2024               Clifton, TX                      Routes of 16, 37, 45, 55 and 72 miles

Tour d’Italia                            June 15, 2024               Italy, TX                          Routes of 12, 29, 41, 50 and 63 miles

Tour de Paris                         July 20, 2024                 Paris, TX                        Routes of 20, 24, 35, 57, 68 and 80 miles

This is our jersey design for 2024.

tour de paris texas 2022

Here’s how it works. Click our registration link and you will land on our registration page with BikeReg.com

You may select the 4 ride bundle, or the 3 ride bundle. If you select the 3 ride bundle, you will be asked to select the rides you want during the process.

You will be signing waivers for all your rides. You will also select the T-shirt size for each ride and the route distance (you can decide later to ride a longer or shorter route). The T-shirt for some rides will be an additional cost, but you do not have to order  T-shirt if you prefer not to.

Please note that your jersey order is NOT included in the process with Bike Reg.

Once registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation. Within the confirmation is an explanation for the jersey ordering process. We will provide a link and code that will allow you to order your jersey, with shipping to your address included, at no additional cost. Please make sure that you use the sizing chart provided on the store site so that you order the proper size.

Please note that our jerseys are Custom/Made To Order. We do not have an inventory on hand.

Your jersey will arrive in time for the Muenster Metric Ride.

Additionally, as we approach the ride dates, you will receive a ride confirmation from the individual events.

Registration for our ride bundle closed on March 1, 2024

You can still register to ride in the individual events. Click the links above to visit each ride website.

Founded in 1973, Lone Star Cyclists is an organization of road bicycling enthusiasts who are interested in recreation, safety, and spending time with our fellow club members.  We ride because the open road beckons us. Because after 5 minutes on a bike, our cares fall away and are left behind. We ride because there’s no better way to spend a sunny day than on a bike with our friends. We ride for exercise, for freedom, and to recapture the simple joy of being on two wheels. Nothing else makes us feel like kids again the way being on a bicycle does. www.LoneStarCyclists.org

When I showed up for TDP last year it was my first one.  There was no instruction, no worksheet, no nothing.  So I set up at my assigned spot and listened and tried to mimic what everyone else was doing.  This year I propose a worksheet.  It will explain what people are to do and not do and be as comprehensive as it can be.  Please add to the list, comment, etc., and approaching TDP I will convert it all into a PDF that can be referenced in the field or printed out and taken to the event.

Tour de Paris Worksheet

Participants are chiefly there to observe and assist.  Observations that can be passed along include the first and last rider to pass through the location, if EMS is needed due to injury and any resupply that the various locations need.

Your call sign:

The first rider (try and include the number on their jersey):

Supply/EMS needs:

As day is wrapping up report the very last rider we are tracking has passed your location.

Handy to have: Water, sunshades, spare batteries if operating a portable along with binoculars or a monocular.

tour de paris texas 2022

You didn’t come and pick up info in town… you went to rest stop with out… I will also let mark Know he can put the word out earlier when the pickup shirt’s the can get list.

Ah…so there was some kind of info.  LOL  Well, I didn’t know it.  But this year we can have a worksheet right here on the site and people can use it at their assigned location.  From a smart phone or printed out, whatever.  LOL  Sorry if I stepped on your toes.  I just winged it last year and thought everyone else was too.  Thanks for the follow up!

More for your “personal kit” – food and maybe an icebox for keeping stuff cold.  Including your insulin if you are a diabetic.  What else?

tour de paris texas 2022

I used to send out an email when I got the T-shirts for TDP and most would pick them up at my house after work.  Others would pick up the T-shirts at our station at the event site around 7am.

The maps on https://www.tourdeparis.org/ under Routes are the up to date maps for 2022 TDP.  I should have the composite map of all routes posted in a couple of days.

tour de paris texas 2022

Jerry’s hybrid map has distances on it, a very handy feature.  This link to the TDP site is to the page where they have individual maps of each route in case anyone is interested.  Mark Johnson (W5PTX) tells me that he is six operators short .  Two weeks ago we were three operators short and now we are six operators short.  If you have not signed up please contact Mark right away and sign up to help.

Texas Bike Rides and Races

Looking for a list of organized cycling events, bike rides, bicycle rallies, century rides and bicycle races in Texas? You’ve come to the right place.

I’ve put together this list of all the organized cycling events and bicycle rides that I could find.

Each ride or race clicks through to a post with more information, including a map. And the post links through to the original event organizer’s web site, when I could find it.

If I missed a ride, leave a comment at the bottom of the page and let me know so that I can add it. Please include a link to the organizer’s web site so I can verify the information.

And if you see any errors, please point them out so that I can correct them. No one wants to show up at an event to learn that the time has changed or that it has been canceled!

You forgot the Dublin Dr Pepper bike ride in Dublin, TX on June 11, 2011

Thanks! Added it.

The Wurst Ride is always a great ride on 11/12/11 this year from Austin to New Braunfels.

The Paluxy Pedal is October 1 in Glen Rose.

I am looking for 3 of my favorite rides but can’t find the current websites for the rides in 2011: 1)Garner State Park in Leakey; 2)UT Burnt Orange ride in Blanco; and 3)Marble Falls.

Thanks for checking here! I found 2 out of the 3, and posted everything but Marble Falls, which I couldn’t find.

Would you please post our ride this year… Thank you

Done! Thanks for letting me know about it.
