Small Town, Big Experience.

There’s something very special about this place..

You’ll sense it when you stand under the oaks at Toomer’s Corner. You’ll feel it when you’re greeted by your future classmates on the red brick sidewalks that snake through campus. You’ll know it when you hear “War Eagle” shouted across Samford Lawn.

Your campus visit to Auburn will feel both familiar and exciting: like coming home again for the first time.

Scheduling a Campus Visit

What to expect from your campus tour..

We start with a 30-minute information session, where you’ll learn about:

  • Academic offerings at Auburn
  • The admissions process
  • Scholarships
  • The Auburn community

Next, a 75-minute walking tour, led by a Student Recruiter, will focus on Auburn’s history, tradition, and student life. Don’t be surprised if current students say “hey” or “War Eagle!” as you pass. It’s in our DNA to be welcoming to all who visit campus.

How Can I Tour the White House in Washington, DC?

Everything you need to know about planning a visit to the country’s most famous house., requesting a white house tour.

Touring the White House requires some advance planning. Public tour requests must be made through your member of Congress ( find your member of Congress and contact information ) and submitted up to three months in advance and no less than 21 days prior to your visit. If you're an international visitor and wish to schedule a tour, please contact your home country’s embassy in Washington, DC.

You are encouraged to submit your tour request as early as possible as tours fill up quickly and a limited number of spaces are available. Tours are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. All White House tours are free. Please note tours are subject to last-minute cancellations based on the official White House schedule.

Public, self-guided tours are 45 minutes and are run between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays unless otherwise noted. For complete details on White House tours, visit the White House tours and events page or call the White House Visitors Office 24-hour information line at (202) 456-7041. The White House is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

Touring the White House - Washington, DC

Touring the White House - Washington, DC

What to expect on a White House tour

If there is a tour slot available during your visit to DC, you will be given a specific date and time to arrive and be instructed on where to check in. All guests over 18 years old will be required to present a valid, government-issued photo ID upon check-in. Foreign nationals must present their passport. Please bring as little as possible (avoid backpacks, food, large handbags, bottled water, etc.). Note that smartphones and compact cameras with a lens no longer than 3 inches are permitted on the public tour route, but video recording devices and flash photography are not allowed inside the White House. Visitors will go through security prior to entering the White House. There are no restrooms available at the White House. The closest restroom is located at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion nearby.

Public tours of the White House include the public rooms in the East Wing, which includes the Blue Room, Red Room and Green Room; the State Dining Room; the China Room; and a view of the White House Rose Garden. Secret Service members are stationed in each room and are available to answer questions about the history and architecture of each room.

You can also visit the White House Visitor Center   before or after your tour.

How to get to the White House

The closest Metro stations to the White House are Federal Triangle (Blue and Orange lines), Metro Center (Blue, Orange and Red lines) and McPherson Square (Blue and Orange lines). Please note there is NO PARKING near the White House. Public transportation is strongly encouraged.

@abroadwife - View of National Mall from South Lawn during White House Garden Tour - Free activities in Washington, DC

@abroadwife

How to tour the White House Garden

Another opportunity to visit the White House is to attend either its fall or spring garden tour. Check whitehouse.gov in early October and April. The announcement of the garden tours is usually made within a week or two of when they take place. Garden tours generally run for two consecutive days. They may be canceled due to poor weather. A ticket is required for all attendees (including small children). Usually, tickets are distributed by the National Park Service at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion on 15th and E streets NW on each tour day beginning at 9 a.m. Review the announcement for specific details.

Will I still be able to see the White House without going on a tour?

While visitors are not allowed entry to the White House without requesting a tour through your congressional representative, you will still be able to see the White House from Pennsylvania Avenue NW at Lafayette Square and view the White House and the South Lawn from the Ellipse. Please note that a new fence is currently under construction at the White House, as the current 6-foot fence is being replaced by a stronger, wider fence that will be 13 feet.

Where can I store my belongings during the tour?

It is important to note that security at the White House is extremely high. If your hotel is nearby, we suggest leaving your belongings in your room during the tour. If this is not possible, there are a few other options. You can designate one member of your tour group to hold everyone’s belongings. That person can take the self-guided tour once his or her group has finished the tour.

If you're a ticketed Amtrak customer, you may be able to check luggage in advance at  Union Station . These are located near Gate A. Lockers are available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. A photo ID is required and lockers must be paid for via cash or credit in advance. Rates are $3-$6 per hour per bag depending on the size of your bag. For questions on bag storage, please call 202-906-3000.

Catch up on White House history with the free podcas t The 1600 Sessions and enhance your trip with the  White House Experience app  from the White House Historical Association. The app offers three tour experiences, including a virtual tour of the White House (with rooms you normally don't see on the tour), a neighborhood walking tour and a room-by-room guide for visitors on an in-person tour of the White House.

Now that you have read up on the White House, explore DC’s other awesome  monuments and memorials .

What people love about usa tours.

The 7-day Southwest Highlights tour was amazing! Alex and Amber were terrific guides that helped to give us options to make the most of our time at each tour stop. They also took care of setting up camp most days and prepared great meals throughout the trip. The trip was well organized, and we stopped often during the drive. I recommend this tour to people who want an active vacation, checking a number of National Parks off their list, but don't want to do all of the research needed to make it happen.
Most Amazing Family Vacation Ever! The 7-day private tour of the Southwest National Parks (hotel version) Hard to put into words but this was the perfect way for our family to experience the dramatic sites and cultural experiences of the southwest National Parks! We had the most amazing tour guide (Thanks Marie!) and the agenda was the right balance of keeping us engaged while covering so much ground. Each National Park had its own unique and wonderful qualities and this 7-day tour gave us just enough time to soak up the natural beauty. Also, there are hikes and tours for all ages (we let the boys take on the more difficult hikes while Mom and Dad took the more accessible routes. The pick up and drop off in Las Vegas was very convenient and allowed us just enough time to enjoy a few nights in Las Vegas. Would HIGHLY recommend!
Everything was great. We enjoyed the pacing of our itinerary and our guide Gogee was excellent.

Joel is passionate about the Southwest and shared so much information on the region. We were entertained by his abundant knowledge of the culture, historical events and characters from the areas we visited. This definitely enriched our overall experience..

Neil Young and Crazy Horse cancel remaining 2024 tour dates due to illness

tour with a visit

Neil Young and Crazy Horse are hitting pause on their first tour in over a decade due to the band members experiencing recent illnesses.

On Wednesday, the musicians announced the cancellation of their upcoming North American shows, as well as their hope of making up for the missed dates in the future, in a post shared on Young's official website .

"When a couple of us got sick after Detroit's Pine Knob, we had to stop. We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break," the statement reads. "We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience."

The statement continues, "Thanks for your understanding and patience. Health is # 1. We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you.... and for us. With love and thanks to all of you from Crazy Horse..... Neil, Micah, Ralph and Billy."

Which Neil Young and Crazy Horse shows have been canceled?

Alongside seven dates in Canada, the following shows appear as canceled events on Ticketmaster : July 25 in Bend, Oregon; July 26 in George, Washington; July 29 in West Valley City, Utah. The July 31 performance in Greenwood Village, Colorado, is canceled, per AXS .

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Southern California's Ohana Festival, set to take place Sept. 27-28, confirmed on social media that Young and Crazy Horse will no longer be headlining.

The Bourbon & Beyond Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, also shared on Instagram that it's seeking a new headliner.

No information is available on their Hollywood Bowl date on Sept. 29, though the event page has been taken down on the venue's website.

The Love Earth Tour, initially announced as a 16-show jaunt and launched April 24 in San Diego, California, "has been a great experience for us so far," Young and the band wrote. "Great audience and music. We have had a blast!"

Before hitting the road, Young, 78, and Crazy Horse released a nine-track record in April.

In late May, a month into the tour, they announced a slew of shows were postponed "due to illness."

Talk about pocket aces.

Frank Bensel Jr. made history Friday morning at the U.S. Senior Open, carding back-to-back aces in the second round at Newport Country Club.

Bensel carded a hole-in-one on the par-3 fourth from 184 cards before stepping up to the tee on the par-3 fifth and rolling in another ace from 203 yards.

“So the first one was great, so that got me under par for the day," Bensel said after his round. "And then the second one, I just couldn’t believe it. To even think that that could happen was amazing." The aces marked the 13th and 14th aces of his career.

“It was like an out-of-body experience,” Bensel said. “I was more excited than I wanted to be.”

Bensel, whose career has included club professional stints in New York and Florida, opened with a 5-over 75. On Friday – despite the two holes-in-ones – he was 1-over for his first nine holes.

The Jupiter, Florida, resident has played six PGA TOUR events in his career including the 2009 U.S. Open at Oakmont and this year’s 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla, where he missed the cut.

The last time someone made two aces in a round on TOUR was Brian Harman in 2015 at Plainfield Country Club.

Taylor Swift brings Travis Kelce onstage in London for the first time at an Eras Tour show

If anyone thought singing " Karma is the guy on the Chiefs " was as public as Taylor Swift was going to go with her all-star boyfriend, Travis Kelce, think again.

On Sunday night, at the third of her London Eras Tour shows this weekend, Kelce graced the famed diamond walkway at Wembley Stadium in his first-ever onstage appearance. He performed alongside Swift during the intro for "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" in the newly added "Tortured Poets" era of the show .

Taylor Swift is joined on stage by Travis Kelce

As Swift transitions into the last song of the era, she typically acts out a short skit with two of her dancers, after she appears to "drop dead" during the penultimate song in the set, "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived."

One of the dancers carries her to a heart-shaped couch, and they then appear to revive a lifeless Swift, changing her costume from a white gown to a two-piece sequin set and applying her makeup to get her ready for the rest of the show so she can, well, do it with a broken heart.

Kelce proved to be a fearless lover Sunday, joining the trio onstage in full costume, showing off his acting chops as if he were auditioning to be a mainstay for the rest of the tour.

Videos posted to social media showed Kelce first carrying Swift to the couch, then brushing her face with a makeup brush once she was up again. He showed off some dance moves, too, all with a big, goofy smile plastered to his face.

The track, an upbeat pop banger on Swift's latest album, appears to be about the Eras Tour itself and how Swift has been able to put on one of the biggest and most successful concert runs of all time amid a breakup with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn last year, shortly after the tour began.

Swift herself gave high praise to her beau's performance, saying in a Monday post to Instagram that she was "still cracking up/swooning over" Kelce's stage debut on the Eras Tour.

It had already been a big Eras weekend for Kelce, who was at all three London shows. Swift posted a selfie on Instagram featuring Kelce alongside Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who attended the Friday night show .

Kelce and Swift have been linked for nearly a year now, as rumors swirled last summer about a potential relationship after Kelce boldly declared on his podcast, "New Heights," that he tried (and failed) to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it at one of her Kansas City shows.

They went public with their relationship in September when Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears, and they have been caught supporting each other and their very public careers ever since.

Nick dunlap, very much in rocket mortgage contention, admits pga tour life is 'a little lonely', share this article.

Nick Dunlap is now in his 15th event as a professional golfer since shocking the world by winning The American Express in La Quinta as an amateur last January. And while he’s more comfortable now with the professional life, Dunlap admits the pro game can be frustrating.

“Honestly, the most frustrating thing is that I’ve had to realize that I can’t attack pins with sand wedges sometimes,” Dunlap said. “I think (recent tournaments were) pretty eye-opening for me in realizing that sometimes you’re not going to hit the green, even if you are on the fairway.

“It’s taken me a little while to realize how to play some of these golf courses,” Dunlap added. “Even par is a great score. Most of the time on the weekends it gets even harder.”

Dunlap, still just 20, has faced plenty of questions since deciding to turn pro after winning The American Express in La Quinta, making him the first amateur to win on the PGA Tour in 33 years. Should he have stayed at the University of Alabama? Was his game ready for the PGA Tour, even though he had just beaten a field that included world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele?

The questions have grown louder as Dunlap’s year has continued. While he’s surpassed $1 million in earnings in his 14 starts — he won no money at The American Express — he has missed five cuts and has been in the top 15 in an event just twice. He missed the cut in all three major championships he’s played this year, and he was 66th in the most recent event he played, the Travelers Championship. He was a strong 12th the week before the U.S. Open at The Memorial.

This week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, however, Dunlap is in contention at the midway point, building off an opening-round 67. He’s 8 under through 36 holes, just five strokes behind leader Akshay Bhatia.

For Dunlap, it is all part of a learning process.

“I always kind of thought coming out here that I had a lot to learn,” Dunlap said. “I thought that my game was good enough. But these guys are so good consistently week in and week out. I knew I needed to do a couple things to be able to maintain my game, compete week in and week out. I’m three, four months into it. Kind of starting to get a grasp on it.”

One reason for Dunlap to turn pro was that his The American Express win makes him exemption for PGA Tour events through 2026, so he doesn’t have to worry about piecing together a schedule like a regular rookie. In addition, Dunlap was exempt in 2024 for all eight of the PGA Tour’s signature events, most of which do not have a cut and therefore provide a guaranteed paycheck for a player.

Lots of learning

2024 U.S. Open

But the change has been difficult, Dunlap said, with thoughts of his University of Alabama teammates during college golf season.

Despite being comfortable with the decision to turn pro after The American Express win, a one-shot victory over Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Dunlap said he still kept an eye on his Alabama teammates and their trip through the NCAA championships, a trip that ended well short of an NCAA title.

“I still in a way feel bad. I feel like I left them hanging,” Dunlap said. “I would have loved to be with them at regionals, NCAAs the week after.”

What Dunlap has found, though, is new supporters on the PGA Tour.

“Honestly, a lot of the guys out here have been very, very nice to me, always offering up support and help in anything they do,” Dunlap said. “It was a little bit of an odd situation, but I’m 20, and there’s not a whole lot of my peers out here currently.

“It can be a little lonely at times. Feel like you’re on an island a little bit,” he added. “A lot of the guys have been very gracious and reaching out, making sure that I don’t feel that way.”

Dunlap also recently had plenty of television time, not for his current play but for The American Express win. American Express is a major partner of the United States Golf Association and used some of its commercial time during the recent U.S. Open to replay highlights of Dunlap’s win in La Quinta.

For now, Dunlap is 93rd on the FedEx Cup playoffs points list, well short of the 70th-place finish he’ll need at the end of the regular season to make the FedEx St. Jude Classic, the first of the three playoff tournaments. That means Dunlap has just five events left on the regular schedule to reach the playoffs, starting with this week’s Rocket Mortgage.

News | ‘Most beautiful’ Italian tall ship open for tours next week in Port of LA

tour with a visit

The Amerigo Vespucci, a vessel in the Italian Navy, is stopping by San Pedro as part of its 15-country world tour as an ambassador of all things Italian.

The stunning ship, with 26 traditional canvas sails, was built in 1930 and launched in 1931. It has been continually active since then, except during World War II, mostly as an Italian Navy training vessel. The ship will be in San Pedro from Wednesday, July 3, to July 8.

Vespucci was twice the receipient of other ships’ adoration: once in 1962 in the Mediterranean Sea, when American aircraft carrier USS Independence signaled, “Who are you?” After getting a response, the Independence replied: “You are the most beautiful ship in the world.” More recently, in 2022, when Vespucci sailed near the American aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush, she was saluted again: “You are still, after 60 years, the most beautiful ship in the world.”

In addition to free tours of the nearly 100-year-old ship, there will be music, food, film, photo exhibits and more, all aimed at celebrating “La vita e bella,” Italian for “Life is beautiful.”

Madonna has the highest-grossing worldwide tour of 2024 thus far, according to Pollstar’s mid-year report , thanks to the success of her “Celebration Tour.” With average ticket prices of $208.85, the pop icon had an average gross of $2,794,007 with 13,378 average tickets sold, making for a total of 856,247 in ticket sales across 34 reported shows out of 65 dates.

Not all promoters or tours report their numbers, or all of their numbers, to Pollstar, which was acquired by Irving Azoff and Tim Lieweke’s Oak View Group in 2017, but its statistics certainly reveal a large number of trends.

Bad Bunny trails closely behind Madonna with $174.6 million from his “Most Wanted Tour,” while Luis Miguel follows him with $169.4 million, U2 ranks at No. 4 with $135 million from the band’s Sphere residency and Karol G rounds out the top five with $111 million. The top 10 continues with Bruno Mars ($102 million), Coldplay ($100 million), Seventeen ($74 million), Eagles ($69 million) and Nicki Minaj ($66 million).

On a macro scale, overall global gross in 2024 topped $3 billion for the first time, up from $2.83 billion in 2023. Last year had exponential growth over 2022, which touted a global gross of $1.87 billion. Average gross in 2024 was slightly down from last year, with $1.37 million versus $1.47 million, while ticket sales remained nearly the same (24.1 million in 2024 versus 24.3 million in 2023). Average ticket prices increased from $116 to $127 year over year, even though average tickets sold per show dipped from 12,655 to 10,767.

In North America, Bad Bunny topped the total gross tally with $174.6 million. Madonna sits behind him with $148 million, followed by U2 ($135 million), Luis Miguel ($100 million) and Eagles ($69 million). Overall gross in the region totaled $2.33 billion, a boost of 18.7 percent over last year’s $1.96 billion. Total tickets sold was up 17.6 million compared to 2023’s 16.32 million, while average number of tickets sold dipped from 2023’s 9,071 to 8,252.

The report comes amid a year of strong ticket sales contrasted by reports of major artists canceling their tours. In the past few months, the Black Keys nixed their international arena tour , while Jennifer Lopez followed suit in the wake of rebranding her tour from focusing on her new album to a greatest hits show.
