Good place!

This review is about the Habana Sports Bar as we didn't visit the Safari Club. This place is really handy if you're staying at the Grand Hyatt and looking for somewhere with a different atmosphere. It's actually part of the hotel complex so 1 minute walk will get you there. Good atmosphere in the air conditioned bar which really could be anywhere in the world. Good mix of sports memorabilia around the place and an excellent choice of beers. Happy hour is 6-9 pm with 40% off drinks. Full price is a bit more expensive than were used to in the UK. Pretty good food available too - the bagels and nachos went down well. We went 3 nights in succession and felt very comfortable in the place

Habana sports bar on the ground floor of the Hyatt hotel is a good, honest bar with decent drinks and OK food. Its lively and full of many different characters! Staff very good here. Safari bar on the next level is a brothel full of unclean looking men and women. Unless you like this sort of thing don't even go there! I really fail to understand how an hotel like the hyatt allows this to go on. Its a sleazy, dark, dirty place. Go to Habana though it is one of the best bars in Muscat.

The sports bar is a nice place for people into sports and like to have a beer over a soccer game. It is not my type of bars though. One good thing is that they have a good variation of beers. The Safari which is the other part of the place just on the upper floor, is much better in terms of music and atmosphere. Always crowded, and very beautiful design. One drawback however is that it is always full of prostitutes, mainly Philippines. They do not come to you and bother you while having ur drink, but they try to attract u by smiling or touching you as you pass by.

Good pub food, good deal beverages... the reason why I always drag my friends here. And I haven't even mentioned the music and the service... It is nicely located at Grand Hyatt Muscat, easy access from anywhere in the city. The theme is Safari, but downstairs at the sports bar is another story. Cheers!

Well we are talking two totally different places: Habana Sports Bar: Pool table, plenty of screens with sports, soccer, triathlon, cyclism, motorbikes, mixed clients, omani and western, nice environtment, I haven't tried the food. Club Safari, it's not a regular club, only for man I would say, plenty of professional ladies and man looking for the same, I wouldn't recommend that enviroment for a mix group of friends or couples.

The Club Safari and Habana sports bar are a two storey club in a separate building in front of the Grand Hyatt hotel in Muscat. The sports bar is downstairs, the Safari club upstairs. It is decorated in an lush African style. In the Safari club, there is also a dance floor. It is th home of th supporters of Musct Rugy club. there is an interesing mix of Western exPats and Omani men. There are several pool tables and plenty of TV s coverng several Games. After 11 the dance floor is busy, frequented by Phillipino and Chinese ladies. All in all a lively sports Bar!

The Safari Bar

Recently, an Oman Forum member, Samsquatch, had convinced some of us to go and see his band, Earth Beat , play at the Grand Hyatt's Safari Bar. I had stopped attending this bar a year or so ago because of the number of ladies of the night (or whatever you want to call them) that work the venue. On a Monday night, myself and a group of friends decided to go and watch the band - and had a thoroughly great time! The band members know how to play their instruments, and were able to fulfil a bunch of our requests, some of them being a touch obscure. Perhaps next time I'll hit them with a request to play the Cure's Close to Me track, and see how they fare with that one! What was entertaining about the night (other than the band and the company) was my rather weird interaction with a man in a mustard dishdasha. I was standing at the bar doing my best to attract the attention of one of the barmen, when I caught two eyes staring at me from across the bar. Admittedly I was feeling the effects of enjoying a few drinks and probably did a squint so that I could focus on who this person was that was staring at me so intently. I then realised it was a man staring at me. I just shifted my view, and thankfully a barman had finally decided to serve me. Two minutes later, as I'm putting my change back in my wallet, and getting ready to take the drinks over to where my group of friends were sitting, I became aware of a man standing *very* close to me. It's the mustard man again. "Hello" he says, grabbing my hand (I thought he was going for my wallet) "how are you"? And so went the polite conversation I find myself having with various people all too frequently here. Finally, when I thought the conversation was over, after he had told me he works in the interior on rigs for PDO and only gets to spend half his time in Muscat, he drops this clanger on me: "Do you like Arab pussy"? Excuse me?! "Arab girls - you like? You like Arab pussy?" At which point this guy whips out his phone and promptly starts showing me pictures of women he's claiming to have bedded in various states of undress. I must admit the sheer shock of where the conversation went did take me by surprise but after 30 seconds or so I remembered why I was standing there in the first place, and wanted to go and return to my friends, so I politely said bye, and left. Mustard man follows me to the table where my friends were (who had rather inconveniently decided to go dancing) and kept asking me for my number. I'd already given the guy a false name (par for the course for me I'm afraid, I never usually give my real name to weird people in bars), and was now struggling to remember the same fake number I had just given him. Finally he left me alone and went back to the bar. And now for the real clanger. Half an hour later, I was in the toilets and thinking about going home, when again, I feel someone next to me. Mustard man, again. This time he's standing next to me at the next urinal, except he's not using it. He's staring at me, more specifically, my groin. I got out of there straight away, grabbed the wife and friend still left and legged it out of the bar. So, just watch out for men in Mustard Dishdashas! Have a nice weekend everyone, and have a great New Year's celebration. le fin.

I will certainly watch out for him in Al Fair and Carrefour, thanks!! The worst thing that has happened to me so far in Oman are the men who stare at my breasts in grocery stores...I'm afraid that I don't have any stories as tittilating (!) as yours!

I think I hav seen the guy at another nightspo, not in mustard yellow, but same behaviour... Should be reported. By the way, I agree, Earthbeat is a top band, beats anything else in Muscat. Rock on!

You have not been on Kamenjak if You didn′t visit Safari Bar! The story goes like this: a man decides to buy a own piece of land far away from people and crowds to live peacefully and in harmony with nature. After some time friends start to visit him, and little by litle, piece by piece, he opens a bar and, now, over 20 years of making and living it, Safary bar is the best beach bar I ever visited so far. Safari bar, in past 20 years became a sort of institution – a cult beach bar located in one of the most beautiful piece of land on our planet Mala Kolombarica beach on Cape Kamenjak , Premantura, Croatia. The safari bar that looks like it came from a fairy tale … The ‘walls’ and ‘ceiling’ are made up of live plants and bamboo canes that serve as dividers between one table and another. The tables and benches are simple cut logs or stones stacked, the “floor” is a bed of straw. Scattered throughout the bar then, there are the bizarre rides like a big slide made of ropes and wooden wheels, swings hanging from the branches of the trees that create the structure, large swivel wheels and so much more, the games are used but the signs experience “at their own risk and peril.” And then again, lanterns, tools sailor … A real robinson paradise! Safari bar is located southermost spot of  Cape Kamenjakalso known as Mala Kolombarica beach. When You enter Kamenjak just drive straight and follow the directions and You will find it!

  What to eat and drink in safari bar?

Safari bar Kamenjak Premantura offers:

Oman’s largest zoo in Ibra ready to welcome visitors

With more than 350 animals from across the globe and with a plethora of activities, Oman’s largest Zoo in Ibra will open its doors to public on Thursday, the second day of Eid.

Named the ‘Safari World’, the zoo features animals of various nature including lions, tigers, deers, gazelles, reptiles and birds from different continents of the world.

Speaking to the Observer, Khalfan bin Saeed al Maamari, the chief promoter of the zoo said the entry fee has been fixed at RO 5 for adults and children below 12 will only be charged RO 3 while kids below 4 will enter free. The Zoo is open from 8 am to 10 pm everyday.

Spread over an area of 286,000 square metres, the ambitious zoo will also have a water theme park and a compete family entertainment avenue, animal feeding area, family boating facility and the like, part of offering a complete day full of entertainments.

“We will also have family packages and group packages where they will pay less for the entertainment and we will also have days dedicated to school children,” Al Maamari said.

“We are happy to announce the opening of the zoo which will house animals, reptiles, birds and the like in Ibra which has ambitious growth plans to mark Oman in the global tourism map,” he said.

Most of the animals are locally sourced while many are from the GCC and other Asian countries and some others are from Africa and other European countries and Asia.

Al Maamari believes that Safari World is going to be a major attraction for tourists visiting the Sultanate as a large line up of animals, alligators, birds and the like are all set to enthral the visitors and will be a sureshot to bring in more tourists to the country.

Small scale zoos are already in operation in the country with a wide range of animals with the one of its kind habitat, thanks to the individual efforts in maintaining such havens for wild animals. However, Safari World will be the largest of its kind by far.

Al Maamari said nearly 30 members of the Oman Bikers will visit the zoo on April 19 at 11 am which is open to all.

“In addition, we will have an exclusive Birds show 10 am on April 20 where exclusive birds will go on display for the spectators throughout the day,” he added.
