  Our 2.5 hour Málaga La Bella Coast Tour is the perfect introduction to the capital of the Costa del Sol!* Enjoy panoramic views of the city and coastline as your tour leader entertains you with stories and anecdotes of the local culture and famous landmarks.

From the city centre, we’ll cycle through the modern marina of Málaga and enjoy views of the city’s spectacular skyline. Riding alongside the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean coast, we’ll arrive at the quaint fisherman’s neighbourhood of Pedregalejo with its charming houses and colourful wooden fishing boats.

On the way back to the city, we’ll retrace the city’s ancient coastline stopping off at some of the city’s most impressive monuments along the way. The tour includes a stop at the Atarazanas Market where you can sample local olives and almonds from Málaga La Bella!

Detailed Program – Bike Tours Malaga

The tour starts at the specified bike shop in Malaga . From the Malaga bike rental , we will go to the historic city center, where you will be amazed by the famous Malaga fortress known as Alcazaba, and the historical Roman Theatre ( Teatro Romano ). Then we’ll proceed to Plaza de la Merced , the former town market, which nowadays is a square full of atmospheric cafes and pubs.

Afterward, we’ll head to the Lagunillas neighborhood, Malaga’s street art district, and one of the religious brotherhood’s buildings called Cofradía de la Sangre. To conclude our tour, we’ll reach Puerto de Malaga , Malaga’s port with all the hustle and bustle, as our last stop.

Europe’s highest and longest road bike ascent. (2430m)

Going from glorious sunshine to freezing temperatures in just a few kilometres riding into the thin air, one for the cyclists bucket list!

We will collect you from your holiday accommodation and drive to the village  of Güejar Sierra, which is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the Granada Province of Andalucia.  After breakfast in the village we will set off on the bikes and climb the famous hill of  “El Duque” which was used in the Vuelta a España 2017.  The El Duque climb zig zags on a narrow tree lined road for 7 kilometres climbing just over 550 metres.

LA RUTA DE LA CABRA (THE GOAT TRAIL)

If you are a cyclist and live in Spain you will have heard of the “La Ruta de la Cabra (The Goat Trail)”. Climbing up to 1360 metres above sea level from the coastal resort of Almuñécar, the road is know for its blind curves, sheer drops and hairpin switchbacks, words can’t describe the road and pictures don’t do it justice.

We will collect you from your holiday accommodation and drive to the village of Algarrobo.  From here we will start the famous Ruta de la Cabra.  Passing 40 kilometres along the coastline through the coastal towns of Torrox, Nerja, La Herradurra and arriving at Almuñécar.

From Almuñécar. the climbing begins, all 40 kilometres of it! You will be going from sea level up 1360 metres on the Andalucian mountain road once used by traders moving their goods by mule to and fro the inland city of Granada and the coastal town of Almuñécar

EXPLORE THE ALPUJARRAS

Las Alpujarras is a 70km stretch of valleys and gorges on the southern flank of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Granada. Framed by snow capped mountains, there are lots of challenging climbs,  jaw dropping descents surrounded by some of the most stunning mountain scenery that Spain has to offer. The roads are in great condition and extremely quite.  A camera is essential!!!

We will collect you from your holiday accommodation and drive to the village of Velez de Benaudalla (70 Metres), which is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the Granada Province of Andalucia.  After breakfast in the village we will set off on the bikes and gently climb towards the town of Orgiva (450 Metres) . A traditional mountain town known for its bohemian atmosphere! A magnet for for those seeking an alternative lifestyle!

-Duration: 3 hours 

-Route: It will start in the historic centre, passing through the Central Market, the exotic gardens of El Parque, the bullring, continuing along the promenade and culminating in the spectacular skyline.

Alternative Malaga Route.

-Duration: 4 hours

-Route: It will start in the Soho district and will continue through the Alameda and its main mansions, the Contemporary Art Centre, the Guadalmedina river, the industrial area of the port and ending in the Natural Park of the Guadalhorce river.

Service where all you need is your Malaga transport card and to register on the malagabici website. The first 30 minutes are free, after which the corresponding fares will be applied. 

The stations are located at the main bus stations and most frequent traffic areas. Each station has several bicycles, and these have ergonomic saddles, tyres with reflective strips, 3 speeds, light and a front basket.

It is very simple to operate, just remove a bike with a green light, bring the transport card close to it and then just release it from the anchor. The same as when returning it, choose a green pole, bring the card close and anchor it.

They offer various types of bikes, such as urban and mountain bikes, from €5 . They also have electric bikes , both urban, mountain and trekking, from €15. The lock, helmet and lights are included in the price. A child seat is about €5.

This company also offers a service of routes around the city. One of them goes to the Historical Botanical Garden of La Concepción, in the north of the city; to the Desembocadura del Guadalhorce Natural Park and through the Montes de Málaga.

Bike Philosophy

They have all kinds of bicycles from 1 5€ per day . Both touring, mountain and road bikes, as well as having recently incorporated electric bikes . All of them include air pump, spare inner tube, detachable and bottle holder.

They offer several routes in the province of Malaga and Andalusia of varying difficulty:

Pico Veleta Route 

Duration: 6 hours

Route: The village of Cenes de la Vega in Granada will be the starting point, following the Quéntar reservoir, the Dornajo Visitor Centre, the Salinas road, Prado LLano and finishing at the summit of Pico Veleta.

Grazalema Route

Duration: 5 hours

Route: It will start in Grazalema, taking us through the Natural Park of the Sierra, also along the route of the White Villages and Villaluenga del Rosario. 

Puerto Galiz Route

Route: It will start in the mountain of San Roque, following the route through the Natural Park of Los Alcornocales, ending in Jimena de la Frontera.

El Torcal Route

Route: This route starts near Álora, at the restaurant Los Caballos, arriving at Valle de Abdalajís, going up to the Torcal de Antequera, up to the top of the mountain.

I was able to make a reservation the night before! Yes, I know it was in the off-season, but thank you! Sometimes we just do not know which day we want to do these things. The tour was great, and our tour guide was so very interested in our stories, too. It was that personal touch, she spoke to all of us, that made me feel even more welcomed into this great city! When it was done, I rerceived recommendations for great tapas and even better paella.

Rented a bike from Malaga Bike today- excellent, efficient service. Rented a hybrid bike which was perfect for bike path and the sometimes-rough roads. They were helpful giving directions and advice on where to ride. Was a great way to spend an afternoon in Malaga.

Cycling is a wonderful way to see an area. We rented bikes from Kay and rode east from Malaga along the beaches. It is easy riding mostly on paved cycling/pedestrian paths. We chose to do some streets and backroads also for variety. Malaga Bike Rentals is very convenient (very close to the visitor center), affordable, and welcoming. I highly recommend renting a bike or taking a tour!

We had a great experience with Annette on our city bike tour. She made it fun and interesting and had a great sense of humor. We highly recommend this tour because it gives you a great sense of the city and it's landmarks.

Just finished the city bike tour with Sjars, excellent way to start off my Malaga vacation. Highly recommend for the first day in the city, you get a great idea of how the city is laid out as well the history of the area. They really make you feel welcome, and Sjars is amazing at his job and is exceptionally friendly and kind. I will recommend this little bike tour to my friends and colleagues. Very inexpensive for what you get!!

On my honeymoon travelling around Andalucia we stayed a few nights in Malaga and rented a bike for the day. I highly recommend this - you can cycle all the way along the coast for maybe about 10 miles (I am bad at estimating distances, but basically a nice long bike ride). This route, which we did, takes you beyond the big malagueta city beach to some smaller, prettier beaches and a long line of fantastic beach front bars/restaurants. It's a very long walk to get to those parts, but an easy and pleasant bike ride (we didn't do anything like the full 10 miles), so cycling is the ideal way to get to some great places that would otherwise be inaccessible to tourists. I had a great experience with Malaga bike rentals - my bike was a dutch style/cruiser type of bike (the one where you sit upright) which is my favorite, it had a bunch of gears and best of all it was PINK and named "Frank Sinatra"! I was sad to say goodbye to Frank at the end of the day. The place itself is in a convenient location right at the start of the beach route I mention above. And the lady working there the day we went in was very nice and friendly, and gave us some good tips for restaurants to eat at - some of which I may be reviewing on yelp soon!

Okay didn't take the tour BUT did meet Kay, who was amazing. Me and a friend were cycling through Malaga, trying to get to Gibralter, when we bumped in to her. It was her only day off but she took us to the bus station anyway, booked our tickets for us (we didn't speak Spanish) and made sure we knew exactly what we were doing. Then, some weeks later we had to fly our bikes back to England from Malaga so I paid her a visit to see if she had any bike boxes. She didn't, but spent the next few hours ringing bike shops/sports stores/shopping malls to track some down for us, even went out asking people in the shops nearby for boxes. I honestly don't know how we would have got the bikes home without her. She's a good craic, super-friendly and really made me wish I'd have taken the tour before I had to leave. Cool lady

What gearing do the rental bikes have.

When you rent a bike, the days of use are counted from the day of collection to the day of return. On special request you can collect your bike the evening before the start of a rental but this is subject to availability & we cannot guarantee this.

WHAT DAY AND TIME CAN I COLLECT AND RETURN MY BIKE?

Bikes can be collected during our Hub opening hours – please check your booking confirmation for the opening hours.

You can request early collection of your bike (for example the evening before to ride early) however we can not guarantee that because another customer has until the end of the day to return the bike.

In Girona, please return your bike by 17:00 on the final day of your reservation or a €20 late fee will apply.

How long is a day? (Rental Period)

What tools and accesories come with the bike.

Every bike is supplied with an inner tube, tyre levers & mini-pump.

We do not supply multi-tools – please make sure you are comfortable on your bike before leaving.

We do not supply gas canisters or bidons – these are available to purchase.

We recommend that you bring your own pedals, saddle & helmet, however these can be added to your reservation for a small extra charge.

What is the range of the e-bikes?

The range of the e-bike depends on many different parameters (weight of the rider, terrain, tires, tire pressure, temperature etc.) Please refer to the information listed for each model in the bike hire form for the manufacturer specified ranges.

Is a lock provided with the rental bikes?

We do not supply a lock with any of our rental bikes. We do not recommend leaving the bikes unattended. If a bike is stolen during your rental period you are held responsible for the cost of replacing the bike.

Guests are welcome to store the bike at the Eat Sleep Cycle Hub overnight.

Can you deliver and collect rental bikes?

Yes – from Girona we deliver bikes to all over the Girona, Costa Brava and Pyrenees region.

From Málaga we deliver bikes to all of Andalucia.

Simply provide your delivery address & ask us for a quote.

Do you provide insurance for rental bikes?

We do not offer insurance for damage or theft to rental bikes. Unfortunately insurance companies do not offer these types of policies so Eat Sleep Cycle would need to assume the risk and we do not believe in selling a fictitious product and covering damage.
