Hints and tips for improving your chances of getting Ed Sheeran tickets during the day of the general sale

What can you do to help secure those tickets? Notepads at the ready! Check out these top tips to improve your chances of getting Ed Sheeran tickets when they become available.

1. Open your account and log in now

Get the details out of the way before tickets are available by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. We recommend checking passwords, delivery address and billing information now, to reduce any stress when processing your order later. Head to  Ticketmaster.co.uk  and log in to your account to get started.

2. Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window when you’re being pushed through the virtual queue and always resist the urge to refresh. Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen is actually doing something and will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.

3. Check when tickets are available – even once they’re on sale

Keep up to date with news at  Twitter.com/TicketmasterUK . If anything changes regarding Ed Sheeran tickets – anything at all – our social followers will be the first to know about it. We send real-time updates as the general sale happens, including any technical difficulties that might occur (remember there are a lot of Ed Sheeran fans) and alerts on when new tickets become available. When we have popular shows and tours going on sale, we try our very best behind the scenes to secure as many tickets for you as possible and here’s where you’ll know if we’ve been successful.

4. Don’t oversleep on the date of the general sale

That would be disastrous!

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: Tickets for Ed Sheeran’s four newly announced dates go on sale from 09:00 on Tuesday 28 September 2021 via Ticketmaster.co.uk . All other previously announced dates are on sale now. Plus, remember to have your mobile/smartphone with you during the purchase process.

Ed Sheeran Announces His Mathematically Named ‘+-=÷x’ Tour, Which Kicks Off In 2022

Derrick Rossignol

Ed Sheeran is gearing up to release his upcoming album = in October, the title of which continues his theme of albums named after mathematical symbols. On a related note, Sheeran announced his next concert tour today, and it’s appropriately titled the “+-=÷x” tour. For those who don’t want to say “plus minus equals divide multiply” tour, the tour is also known as “The Mathematics Tour.”

So far, Sheeran has only announced dates for Europe and the UK, which include a handful of shows per month from next April to September. There are surely more dates to be added, though, especially since in an Instagram post teasing the announcement, Sheeran noted, “Announcing something 8am tomorrow U.K. time that is basically the start of the next 3 years of my life, excited to be back at it.”

  • 17:39, 17 SEP 2021

Ed Sheeran's brand new 2022 European tour has officially been released

Calling all Ed Sheeran fans.

Your boy is back and he's got some real treats in store for you over the coming months.

After taking a well deserved-break from his record-breaking 'Divide Tour' in 2018/19, Ed's brand new tour will see him return to the stage with a bang.

By the time his last tour ended, it officially became the most attended and highest grossing tour ever, so great things are being predicted for the next one.

His brand new album is set to be released in October of this year, and the first leg of his ' + - = ÷ x Tour' (pronounced 'The Mathematics Tour'), has been announced for 2022.

Taking place in stadiums throughout 2022, this magnificent show will kick off in April of next year.

The tour will see Ed play shows across the UK, Ireland, Central Europe and Scandinavia. With two nights at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, and three nights at London’s Wembley Stadium in June and July, us Brits are being truly spoilt by the star.

In 2022, excited fans will get to see Ed perform an array of new tracks from his upcoming album, ‘=’, live for the first time.

In addition, an immersive new production has been crafted to ensure that all fans get the most out of the show.

Designed to be surrounded by the crowd in each and every stadium he visits, Ed has set up his staging in the round.

Ed’s highly anticipated new album ‘=’ will be released on October 29 through Asylum/Atlantic Records.

Ed performed his new single ‘Shivers’ for the first time at last weekend's MTV VMA’s . Later today, he is expected to replace himself at No.1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart.

This great achievement follows his colossal comeback track, ‘Bad Habits’ , which has received monumental critical acclaim after spending eleven consecutive weeks at the top of the same chart.

In addition to this already impressive set of accolades, last week Ed became the first British Solo Artist to claim 52 weeks at No.1 on the Official UK Singles Chart. The only two artists to achieve more weeks at No.1 were Elvis Presley and The Beatles, worthy contenders indeed.

Keep reading to find out the nearest tour dates to you.

Ed, having been at No.1 for 11 weeks, is expected to take his own place with his new single, 'Shivers'

In December 2021, Sheeran’s “The Shape of You” was the first song in Spotify’s history to reach the three-billion stream mark.

“I’ve just heard ‘Shape of You’ has reached 3 billion streams on Spotify, which is absolutely insane. I remember this song hitting a billion and thinking that that was weird,” Sheeran remarked. “The first song to hit 3 billion streams and I’m really, really chuffed with it.”

Check out Ed Sheeran's amazing career so far:

Career beginnings.

Ed comes from a very creative family - his parents are in the art world and his brother is a composer, so it's no surprise that Ed was encouraged towards music from a young age. He began singing at his local church from the age of four, and learned to play the guitar at 11, even writing songs whilst still at high school. He made it into the National Youth Theatre in London and also performed with Youth Music Theatre UK in 2007. (Pictured at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk' gallery exhibition in 2019.)

2004: First record 'Spinning Man'

In 2004, Ed started recording his music and independently released his first collection of work, 'Spinning Man'. In 2005, he released 'The Orange Room' EP which featured four tracks - 'I Love You', 'Addicted', 'Misery' and 'Moody Ballad Of Ed'. Ed once revealed that fellow singer-songwriter Damien Rice had been a huge inspiration for him, saying in 2015, "I was only about 11 or 12 years old when I saw Damien play at Whelan's, and that night literally changed my life. The time he spent talking with me after the show made all the difference. It inspired me in a way that I only hope to do for someone else." (Pictured in 2010.)

2008: Britannia High

In 2008, he moved to London to pursue his music career, playing small venues and busking. In the same year, Ed auditioned for Britannia High at the age of just 16-years-old! The auditions were shown on the telly, with Ed auditioning alongside the likes of Pixie Lott and Skins star Mitch Hewer, to take part in a show all about a fictional theatre school. Although he impressed the judges with his voice, Ed didn't quite have all the skills they were looking for, and did not progress.

2010: SBTV performance of 'You Don't Need Me'

2010 was a fantastic year for Ed - he recorded a studio session for Jamal Edwards' SB.TV, and his live performance of 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' went viral. Off the back of that, rapper Example invited him on tour, leading Ed to release his critically-acclaimed EP 'Loose Change', which featured his debut single, 'The A-Team'. Watch his incredible SBTV performance on YouTube. 'Loose Change' was certified Gold by the BPI in June 2024, translating to over 100,000 sales in the UK alone! Ed's career was picking up by now and the internet loved him. He was gaining celebrity fans in the form of footballers, fellow musicians, and even national newspapers. Within that year, he was invited to perform at The Foxxhole, a club run by actor Jamie Foxx, who also invited him to stay at his home.

2011: 'No. 5 Collaborations Project'

On 8th January 2011, Ed released yet another independent EP, 'No. 5 Collaborations Project', featuring UK grime artists such as Wiley, JME, Devlin, and Ghetts which gained mainstream attention. At its peak, the project reached Number 2 in the iTunes charts with over 7,000 first week sales. Within that month Ed had signed to Asylum Records. Ed's international success began on 26th April 2011 when he appeared on Later... with Jools Holland, where he first performed his debut single. 'The A-Team' served as the lead single from his debut studio album '+' and the single sold 58,000 copies in the first week, becoming a top ten hit in eight countries. His debut album reached Number 1 on the UK albums chart in 2011, selling over 790,000 copies, and became the second best-selling debut album. Today, the album is 6x Platinum and has sold over one million copies. Later in 2011, Ed shared his talents and co-wrote the song, 'Moments', on the debut album by the boy band One Direction. This was the start of Ed Sheeran's hugely successful songwriting career.

BRIT Awards: British Breakthrough Act British Male Solo Artist Ivor Novello Awards: Best Song Musically and Lyrically for 'The A Team'

2013-14: The Hobbit soundtrack and follow-up album

From March to September 2013, Ed played at arenas and stadiums across North America as the opening act for Taylor. He then went on to headline three sold-out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden a month later. He debuted 'Tenerife Sea' and 'I See Fire', the featured song for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Ed was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2014 Grammy Awards. He teased the follow-up album to '+' and by early June 2014 he released 'Sing' which earned his first Number 1 single in the UK and announced his next album would be titled 'x'. 'Thinking Out Loud' was released as the album's third single. Unlike his previous videos, Ed took the lead role where he performed a ballroom dance. It became his second single to reach number one in the UK. Watch the music video here.

2015: Ivor Novello songwriting award

In 2015, he won British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year for 'x' at the BRIT Awards. He also received the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year. The album was named the second best-selling album worldwide, debuting at Number 1 in the UK albums chart in 2014 and selling 180,000 copies in its first week. Ed released five songs from 'x' including number 1 hits 'Sing' and 'Thinking Out Loud'. Ed also set up his own record label in 2015, Gingerbread Man Records.

2016: Social media break

After an extremely successful few years, Ed ditched his phone and decided to take a year-long hiatus and social media break. In a post on 13th December 2015, he announced he would be back 'next autumn'. That was the last we saw of Ed Sheeran until 13th December 2016 when he changed his Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram handle to a light blue, implying the release of a new album. On 1st January 2017, Ed uploaded a video which showed him holding a piece of paper with the words 'New Music Coming Friday'.

In January 2019, Ed Sheeran broke a YouTube record for 'Shape Of You' , becoming only the second video ever to reach four billion views. The album was named the best selling album of 2017 in the UK and the US.

Ed was originally announced to receive an MBE back in June 2017, for the Queen's birthday honours list. At the time of collecting his award Ed said, "... my grandfather... he died on this day four years ago, so it's actually quite a nice full circle thing, I guess he'd be pretty proud".

The Darkness were not my thing but they engaged with one particular guy called “Rick” in the crowd, who also sang his heart out for an appreciative audience.

The main man Ed appeared on stage around 8.30pm with a huge smile on his face, to an immense welcome from the Ipswich crowd, he was born not too far away, so was nice to see him finish this huge 2 year world tour at home.

Also he gave hundreds of free tickets to the pupils of the school he attended when he lived there.

His vocals were simply incredible, loud, strong, smooth and steamy, just beautiful !!

Screen graphics and timings were perfect too.

His guitar playing was awesome to watch and I have no idea how he concentrates on so many things at once with the loop, that is pure talent and the build up and sound in some songs ie Eraser, Bloodstream and the awesome You need me,I don’t need you gave me goosebumps.

Ed was joined for Galway Girl by Beoga which was brilliant.

Special guest Stormzy for “Shape of You” was the icing on the cake and I’m so pleased I bought the tickets last year, they were worth every penny.

Only complaint was the rude and miserable guy behind the official merch counter!! Spending £50 on a hoodie for my daughter meant I had to save for it and it would have been nice to have had a “hello” a “thank-you” or any kind of a smile!!!

Luckily the bar staff were friendly, smiley and helpful as were the local people.

Would 100% recommend ED SHEERAN as someone to see live, he is INCREDIBLE.

Let me just start off by saying Ed Sheeran is an amazing performer and speaker. He is comedic and doesn't require thousands of lights and a massive stage to impress thousands. He stayed interactive with the crowd very well. This is my 3rd concert ever and it was both the best and worst I have ever.

Ed Sheeran did amazing, he isn't the issue. As people know in concerts you stand and dance to most songs and sit (under circumstances) when ballads are playing or the performer is speaking. So- I was standing during one of Ed Sheeran's many sings along/dancing songs. I am a 6 foot tall 13 years old there for my birthday. In the area, I was in many people asked me to sit while he talked which I happily obliged to then learning the rules.

It was all fine until one man yelled in a very rude/angry voice yelled at me (during a dancing song) "SIT DOWN IDIOT IN THE BLACK HAT." Which at the very moment I didn't recognize as myself until my father went to lash back (as any protective super concert dad would do). This is something I had never experienced. So for the rest of the concert, I sat having an emotional/mental breakdown.

I'm not sure if it was the music or the people that made me cry so much. This was an experience I will learn from. Unfortunately, it is (probably) because Ed Sheeran reins in a large age group as an audience. This means sometimes people will be cranky, rude, or just plain snarky.

I understand if someone handicapped asked me to sit because they couldn't stand. But this man that yelled at me was about 50 or younger. I hope he ended up enjoying his concert because by halfway through my whole 6' or taller family stood and danced. He sat and everyone around him was asking him to join.

Sorry for my rant. Ed Sheeran is an amazing performer. I just thought you should know that people that (I know) will be everywhere (and we cant do much about them). But it was rude.

Great show! I bought my wife and I tickets as a gift for her (she was a huge Ed Sheeran fan even before he was famous) and we had a great time. My wife had never been to the venue, and while I had been to shows at Consol Enery Center before this was the first show I saw there since it became PPG Paints Arena. Everything about the production and performances (lights, audio, visuals, crew, musicians etc) went off with nary a hitch and was executed in a very timely manner. Props to all involved.

James Blunt opened, and like many people there (as he joked) I only knew one of his songs: "You're Beautiful". He was funny, charismatic, a good showman, and a good sport. He put on a high quality emotion filled performance, and despite his music being on the sadder side still managed to pump everyone up for Ed Sheeran. "Don't Give Me Those Eyes" was a highlight. He hung out in the Captain Morgan lounge after his performance and invited anyone interested to come hang with him. I came in not really knowing who he was and left checking out his latest music and regretting not grabbing a beer with him.

Than Ed came out (my wife had a pinch me I'm dreaming moment). He was noticeably quieter and a bit more reserved than Blunt when addressing the audience, but quickly dove in. I was always aware Ed was a talented solo artist, but you really appreciate his talent on a different level when you actually hear him perform outside of a studio live with just him and a guitar. Most of his songs were studio quality. A few songs dipped in quality but for charming and understandable reasons like audience involvement and impressive sped-up improv (i.e. the "Don't" and "New Man" mashup). He played nearly all the songs my wife and I were looking for ("Perfect", "A-Team", "Galway Girl", "Nancy Mulligan", "Thinking Out Loud", etc.). Since this was the "Divide" tour he played almost every song off that album (but not all: no "Barcelona", "Bibia be ye ye", etc.) He also played a lot of his older songs, including an audience request for "Cold Coffee" (he stated it was the first time he performed it live since 2010-2011). I also liked how he put on a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey during his closing song "You Need Me and I Don't Need You".

TLDR it was one of the best shows I have seen.
