Port Everglades Parking Ship-side: The most convenient and expensive option

Here is a map of the cruise terminals and parking garages/lots at Port Everglades. For the latest updates, please study the online Google Map above!

Port Everglades Terminals and Parking Map (Midport = Palm, Northport = Heron)

Officially the parking garages open at 10:30 am for entry. In reality, you can arrive earlier but on busy days the attendants may direct you to wait elsewhere.  And if you arrive too early then you have to deal with vehicles slowly departing the current cruise meaning you may not get a spot near the elevators (yet)!

  • You drive up to the cruise terminal, drop your family and/or luggage at the porters, then
  • Drive around to park your vehicle in a nearby undercover or open parking lot, and
  • Walk back to meet your family.

No hassles, no crowds, and no waiting on shuttle buses especially after your cruise when the family is tired and a bit grumpy!

TIP – Please know there are many signs and attendants ready to direct you when you arrive at the cruise terminal. DO NOT BE WORRIED about a thing! Just get yourself to the correct terminal and the attendants will show you where to drop your luggage, where to park, how to pay, etc .

This convenience is not cheap ($20 per day – you must include your departure and arrival days). Credit cards only. Attendants are available in case you need assistance.

3 NIGHT CRUISE – $80 4 NIGHT CRUISE – $100 5 NIGHT CRUISE – $120 6 NIGHT CRUISE – $140 7 NIGHT CRUISE – $160 8 NIGHT CRUISE – $180

Oversized vehicles such as RVs must park in open-surface lots nearby. Special rates apply.

For the latest information please visit the Official Port Everglades Parking website

Specific Terminal Notes:

Port Everglades has installed new, colorful, driver-friendly wayfinding signs in the parking garages, parking lots, and throughout the Port’s roadways.

The signs feature Florida wildlife and fauna with illustrations of a bright orange heron (bird) in the port’s Northport section, a green palm (plant)  in Midport, and a blue snook (fish) directing customers to Southport.

When you arrive at any of the three port entry checkpoints, an electronic information board displays your ship name and cruise terminal. Then you follow the signs to your terminal and parking garage or lot.

Cruise Parking at Port Everglades - Port Entrance

We suggest:

  • Use the 17th Street (Eisenhower Blvd) Entrance for Terminals 2 and 4
  • Use the Eller Drive Security Entrance for Terminals 18, 19, 21, 25, 29

Terminal 2 – Carnival

Secure, Covered Parking in the 1,818-space Heron Parking Garage. An air-conditioned, elevated passenger bridge with moving sidewalks connects Terminal 2 and the Heron Garage and can be accessed from the 5th floor of the Heron Garage or the elevators on the outside of Cruise Terminal 2.

In the image below, see how you drive into Terminal 2 to drop off your luggage and passengers (ground level). Then you drive out and keep left up the ramp and into the Heron parking garage. Try to park on level 5 so you can easily get to the passenger bridge!

Port Everglades Parking Off-site Near the Port – Shuttle bus services at a lower cost

There are only two viable commercial off-site Port Everglades parking options – Park by the Ports and Park N Go as shown below.  There are also a couple of booking agents – online companies that offer parking via discounted contracts with local hotels and parking partners.

Park Port Everglades Offsite Map

If you drive up on the day of your cruise looking for discounted parking, off-site parking will save you money. You will use a shuttle bus to and from the cruise terminals – it is not as convenient as ship-side parking – but cheaper!

If you stayed at a hotel you will most likely park your vehicle at the hotel for the duration of your cruise. Generally speaking, the hotel security is not as good as the fenced & gated off-site parking facilities. So you have to consider more than just cost when comparing your parking options.

Booking Agents

When you search online for cruise parking at Port Everglades, you will see ads for several booking agents. These online agents don’t own parking lots (or transport vans in most cases). Instead, they have agreements with local hotels, parking facilities, and transport companies to sell parking spaces/transfers online – often at a discount to the consumer.

They change partners and rates quite often and it is hard to keep up with their parking options! Please visit their respective websites for the latest choices.

Typical hotels contracted close to the Port – Embassy Suites, Renaissance, Rodeway Inn, etc. There are many others but those are typically further away such as in Dania Beach near I-95.

How does it work? Typically (with exceptions – check your booking confirmation) – You will receive directions and phone numbers to call before arrival at the Parking Lots and after your cruise (wait in the shuttle area). These are on-demand services so be prepared to wait for drivers and/or representatives of the ground operators (Quick & Safe for example).

How safe is it to book parking with agents instead of booking directly with a parking facility? Agents come and go and change names and partners all the time. So it is impossible to generalize but you should be OK with established agents. Just know that you are not dealing directly with a parking facility/operator. Should something go wrong, you cannot address the problem in person at a parking facility. You must deal with an online agent who may be thousands of miles away from Fort Lauderdale! Here are two agents:

  • Rightway Parking – A nationwide agency with parking partners at many airports and cruise ports. At Port Everglades, they partner with hotels and shuttle companies (e.g. Quick & Safe, All Stars Transportation) – not with the two top parking operators. Daily rates vary considerably. See the locations on the Google MAP above.
  • Tropical Airport Parking – Partner with several hotels near Port Everglades, not with the two top parking operators. Daily rates vary considerably. You will probably use hotel shuttles and some of these cost EXTRA – please check carefully before booking.

Quick & Safe Parking

Cost Comparison

2024 rates. Always check the websites for the latest pricing because they change often. Book online for the best rates :

Ship-side parking  for 8 days, 7-night cruise –  $160

  • Park N Go . Cheaper to pay online instead of the gate = $93 for 8 days.
  • Park by the Ports . Best to book online = $94 for 8 days.

Generally speaking, the following rules apply when parking off-site:

  • Lots are secured behind a fence with security lights.
  • Port shuttles are generally free for up to 4 passengers. Extra charges apply to larger families.
  • Do not arrive before 9:30 am. The staff will be busy helping returning cruisers until then.
  • The first shuttle typically departs around 10:30 am to the ships. The last shuttle typically departs at 2:45 pm.
  • Unless valet parking is required, YOU drop YOUR passengers and luggage, then park the vehicle and walk back to the check-in point.
  • Shuttles run continuously every 15-45 minutes (depending on bookings and time of day).

Location considerations for off-site parking:

  • Park ‘N Go   – Close to the Eller Dr security checkpoint. Very easy to in and out once you figure out the directions! From I-595 east – Take the Port Everglades exit (the overpass). Make a 90-degree left at the McIntosh Rd intersection and drive 0.5 miles to the driveway on the RIGHT. (Just past the four-way traffic-light intersection). Very secure and certainly the most popular of the offsite parking operators.

Park 'N Go Entrance

  • Park by the Ports – Parking is in a back section part of the Casino parking lot in Dania Beach. The cheapest offsite option but much further away than Park N Go – about 5 miles, at least 15 minutes. While the Casino parking lot has surveillance, the vehicles are not parked behind gates. This operator offers a shuttle tracker online – a nice feature! No RV parking.

Park by the Ports Entrance

Port Everglades Parking At Hotels Near The Port

– Please look for an upcoming article about cheap hotel parking options –

We think you will find excellent parking deals at the hotels! You can expect daily parking rates starting around $6 including a return Port shuttle for at least 2 persons.

Many hotels near Port Everglades offer Park & Cruise packages with free (not really!) or discounted parking for the duration of your cruise. Park & Cruise Packages cannot be used with other discounts and there are limitations such as holiday blackouts.

TIP – Do not worry about parking until much later in the booking process. First, book the perfect hotel for your family, then start to think about your parking options.

For example, if you have young kids who like pools then pick a hotel with a fun pool design. If you want to watch the cruise ships come and go then pick another. Or do you want to overlook the ocean and beach, or just hope to stay as cheap as possible anywhere within 30 minutes or so from the port?

So how do you know if you are getting a good hotel deal?

A] ask the following questions:.

– Is breakfast included? – Are airport transfers included? You may not need this service. – Is the Park & Cruise Package available for your stay and cruise dates? – Cruise terminal shuttle transfers should be included but usually only for 2 persons (adult or child). How much will it cost for others in your family? On average expect to pay between $5 and $10 extra per person EACH WAY! – If you do not book the package, how much is parking per day for the duration of your cruise? – How long is the shuttle drive to the cruise terminal and how often do the shuttles run? Many hotels offer only one free shuttle to the cruise terminal per day – around 10:30 am – and a few return shuttles from the ships at specified times.

B] Use hotel booking sites to find the best rates for your hotel for your travel dates.

This will give you a good idea of the discounted room rate. Then you have to add the parking costs and shuttle costs to compare packages and deals.

Port Everglades Park and Cruise Hotels

Port Everglades is conveniently located for those traveling by air into Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood airport.   The cruise port is only 2 miles from the airport, which equates to a 8-12 minute drive depending on traffic.   Miami airport is about 30 miles away and will be a 40-55 minute drive for cruise travelers.

The port is the heart of Broward County on the southeastern coast of the Florida peninsula. It’s also accessible by car, taxi, bus and rail. Proper Identification for those 18 and older, such as state issued driver’s license or passport, is required and your vehicle may be subject to search.

Port Everglades has three entrances :

  • 17th Street Causeway, located at Eisenhower Boulevard
  • State Road 84, located just off of US 1

The Port is easily accessible from I-595, I-95, I-75, US 1 and the Florida Turnpike.

If you are using GPS to guide you to the port, its official address is 1850 Eller Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316.

The cost of parking at Fort Lauderdale’s cruise port depends on the duration of your cruise or how long your vehicle will need to be parked.   The rates begin the moment you pull the ticket from the machine when you first pull into the parking area.  Fortunately these prices are much cheaper than airport parking.

The parking rate prices are listed below:

  • $6 for up to 5 hours, and then $1 per hour thereafter up to daily maximum
  • $3 for 0-1 hours
  • $19 daily maximum for over-sized vehicles (those that exceed the standard width and/or height of a parking space).
  • $15 daily maximum

There are two main parking garages at Port Everglades that offer covered parking.   Heron Parking Garage is on the northern side of the port and is used for cruise terminals 2 and 4.    Terminal 2 is used by Princess Cruises and terminal 4 has recently been transformed into a 2 nd home for Disney Cruise Line, having also been used by Carnival Cruise Line.

Palm Parking Garage is in the southern part of the port and is used for cruise terminals 19, 21, 25, 26, and 29.   You should always check with your cruise line ahead of time to determine which terminal will be used the day of your cruise, and be mindful that sometimes terminals can change even the day of the cruise.

Terminal 29 does not have a dedicated parking lot, but a free shuttle service will transport travelers from Palm Parking Garage to the terminal directly.

princess cruise ships at port everglades with parking garage between

Parking for Princess Cruises

Princess cruise ships will generally berth just outside of cruise Terminal 2 which is used exclusively for Princess Cruises ships.  This is in the Northern section of the port.  Princess cruise ships will also often be berthed at Terminal 4 and Terminal 19.  Always check with your cruise line on the day of your cruise to see which Terminal will be used for your cruise.

Parking for Royal Caribbean

Terminal 18 is one of the largest cruise terminals in the world and home to Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class vessels like Harmony of the Seas.   These ships can carry over 6,500 passengers at maximum capacity so the terminal is specially built to handle large numbers of travelers.  Secure parking is available at Parking Lot #18 and #19 which offer 1,000 spaces between the two of them.

Parking for Celebrity Cruises

Terminal 25 was built for some of the innovative Celebrity Edge class ship and is used by Celebrity Cruises for other ships in their fleet.  The terminal was first unveiled in 2018 and was the first brand-designed terminal for the cruise line.  Cruisers can park at Palm Parking Garage for this terminal.

Parking for Holland America

Holland America’s exclusive terminal at Port Everglades is Terminal 26.   The parking area to use for this terminal is the Palm Parking Garage which has 1,966 parking spaces and a short walk to the terminal.

Can You Reserve Parking at the Port?

At this time, you cannot reserve a parking spot at Port Everglades or pre-pay for parking after booking your cruise.  With over 4,000 parking places available, though, this will not be a problem.    There are two parking garages on site and several open lots available for cruise travelers.

cruise parking at port everglades

Yes, absolutely.  And in compliance with Florida law any and all parking fees for the disabled will be waived for individuals operating vehicles with disabilities.

So, how do you know if you qualify for your parking fees to be waived?  You must have one of the qualifications listed below, as according to Port Everglades:

  • Display a Florida Toll Exemption Permit
  • Vehicle is modified with specialized equipment such as ramps, lifts, or foot and hand controls for use by a disabled person
  • Display the Disabled Veteran (DV) license plate issued from any state government. The DV license plate must be on the car parked in a Port Everglades lot or garage at the time of your cruise.

If you’re looking for the absolute cheapest options for parking before your Fort Lauderdale cruise then it’s hard to beat a park and cruise 3rd party company.  Keep in mind this will take some extra time in traveling to and from the port, so leave yourself a few extra minutes.  For the cheapest option of $8 per day, it’s about half the rate of staying at the cruise port parking garage.

If convenience and time is a bigger factor then simply leaving your vehicle at the port itself makes more sense.  As soon as your cruise is over you don’t have to wait for a shuttle and squeeze into a van with 10 other cruisers.  You simply walk to your car and drive off.  Still, a 7 day cruise will cost about $120 since you have to include the extra day when you get off the ship.

If you’re already planning on driving to your cruise and staying at a hotel then a park and cruise hotel package might be just what you’re looking for.  Even if you just want to use the hotel’s parking lot and take your own Uber or taxi to the port, using a hotel package saves a little on the cruise budget.

Parking at the Fort Lauderdale airport costs $15 a day, so it’s about the same cost to park your vehicle at the cruise port itself.

Do I have to leave them with my car keys to park my car or can I self park?

The decision to valet is made by local management, and is based on how full the lot is, or is expected to be. If the lot is very full, management may make the decision to valet, at no additional charge, in order to accommodate all reserved guests.

How early do I have to arrive to be at the airport by 8am on a Saturday?

We recommend that you arrive at least 15-20 minutes prior to the time you want to arrive at the airport, although many times it will take less time than that.

The service for this place was beyond Horrible!!!! If zero stars were an option, I would give this place a NEGATIVE 10!!!! We got back from our cruise (exhausted from all of the festivities), got off of the ship and stood in the area where you were supposed to go to be picked up. Other parking shuttles, taxi's, etc. came and went and everyone with that little yellow slip for Park 'N Go was still waiting. When they finally did come around (which was about a 30 minute wait for them to get there), they sent 2 little 8 passenger shuttles with about 100+ people waiting to get on! Are you serious? I'm sure you knew that you had a cruise ship coming at the time that it did.... Why weren't you there?! Why did all the other shuttles get there almost immediately?! What's so crazy about it, is that they added 2 more shuttle vans to the rotation as well after about 45 minutes of waiting. So my next question is that if you had 4 total shuttles to begin with, why did you only send out two to start off?! I guess you get what you pay for. For my next cruise or flight, I think I'll be willing to invest a few more dollars to avoid this drama, or just get dropped off. You couldn't pay me to park here again!

Super convenient and easy!! Pay online to save money and time. Will park here before parking at the airport.

Update 1/30/16 Rick/ General Manager responded directly to me. He was very open and easy to communicate with. They really do strive to make this a 1st class operation. Use these people when you travel- cruise lines or airport. Rick- thanks again for listening! RW Very easy to use. Pull right in and they either ask to pull up to valet, other times you park directly. This location is easy for the cruise terminal or Ft Lauderdale airport. Both locations are just minutes away. Every time we have used them, coming or going, they have been great. Nothing better after long trips then help handling your bags directly. Quick shuttle service right to the curb. Staff is usually friendly and helpful. Now for the bad which I hate to write. The guy in the booth when we pulled out/ checked out -Tues 1/26/16 around 9:30PM- You work for a great company with great employees. You were just rude, period! If being around the public bothers you, then don't be around the public.

I returned from Orlando only to find out that my car smells like mildew because they left my windows down!! Never again!! It rained all weekend in Florida!! When I tell the cashier he states "Oh the window must of been left down". *****update****** The owner left me a message apologizing and he offer to get my car detailed. I got my car back and not only was the mildew smell gone but they also took out some stains! I appreciate when companies go above and beyond to write their wrong!! Thank you for your quick response and I will be returning in the future!!

Two of two parking experiences here while on a cruise were delightful. Friendly service - they even provide free water bottles when leaving. Shuttle to/from the cruise port was very quick and convenient. Prices are reasonable, and if you book online you save about $4-5 / day. There's also a Yelp check-in offer for one day at around half price. Enjoy!

These guys were so excellent from start to finish accommodating our Class B RV(Sprinter Van) during our recent cruise on Holland America. Friendly and professional when we called and had questions when searching for a pace to park our RV. Then great valet service. Friendly drivers. Pickup and delivery right to our RV when we got back. We will ALWAYS use this service again. Fantastic!!!!!!!

We had prepaid on their website for 10 days cruise parking starting Dec. 20. It showed a higher rate if we were to pay at the parking site. Well, when we checked in, we noticed the rate at the parking lot was less than what we had prepaid online! The check-in staff was of no help when we questioned why our prepaid online rate was higher. When we got on our ship, I sent an email with an attachment of our parking receipt to Dave@bookparkngo. Rick, the manager, responded instead & said he would notify the cashier to alert him when we check out & he'll credit the difference. When we checked out, we told the cashier to hit the alert button as instructed on Rick's email. Cashier said he'd been notified & we were all set. It's been 7 days since we checked out & Rick has not responded to my emails asking about the credit. First of all, it's not true that you pay less when you prepay. Secondly, the management does not keep his word and ignores your emails. Update: Rick resolved the credit issue after reading my review

Takes too long for shuttles to show up at FLL or when they show up they are full. Otherwise they are not that bad.

Never thought I'd write a Yelp review on a parking lot, but here we are... I have zero complaints and tons of kudos for these guys. Nothing but praise from start to finish. Departing: We arrived well ahead of time, expecting to need a ton of time to park and get to the airport. It was quite the opposite. We checked in and parked instantly. Before I could pop my trunk open the shuttle bus was already at my car and the driver was helping put our luggage on the bus. He asked me how we were doing on time and I said I had plenty to spare, so he waited 2-3 more minutes to pick up the next family. Had I said we were running short on time he surely would have left for the airport right then. The bus was clean, a/c was cold and the trip from the parking lot to the terminal couldn't have been more than 3 minutes max. The drive helped us unload our bags from the bus and was nothing but nice. Returning: After grabbing our bags from the conveyer belt, we went outside and walked less than 30 seconds to the pickup point. Called the number on the ticket they provided to me at drop off and the shuttle bus was there in about 5 minutes. Same as our drop off, he helped with our luggage and quickly got us to our car. Our ticket had our exact parking spot on it so we were taken directly to our car and our baggage was in my trunk within 15 seconds. The drivers and ticket agents were all genuinely nice and accommodating. They even gave us free waters as we left. Small and cheap, I know... But it's the little things. Great experience from start to finish. I will be using this parking service every time I fly in and out of an airport. $8/day as opposed to $21/day at the airport? Yes please! And surprisingly very quick and convenient. Well lit, security cameras and 24/7 on site service. I felt my car was safe at all times

I am a frequent user of Park 'n Go. I love their service, they are quick to take me to the airport and quick to me pick me up when I return. I must give a shout out to one of their drivers, Evron, I hope I'm spelling his name correctly. He's picked me up a couple of times, remembers my car, helps me with my luggage and is very personable. Good people like him make a good service even better!

Testimonials

Very professional! They go above and beyond to make your stay the best. From the moment I clicked on their website to book, I was greeted by a friendly employee. When we were running late the day of our cruise, they called to make sure we weren’t lost or needed to cancel. The guys working the lot and the shuttle drivers made my 2 year old smile. We cannot recommend them enough! Looking forward to using them again!

This is a great location with lots of friendly, polite and helpful workers. Then you exit the ship terminal there are Park N Cruise shuttle buses waiting for you and when you arrive at their lot your car is waiting in line with the trunk open and you are ready to drive out.

Hands down the best parking experience we’ve ever had. Shuttle was at the terminal by 6:30 a.m., and our car was waiting right by it when we got to the parking facility. Very impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. Very reasonable rates too.

Very good app. Maps need improvement

Overall, I think this app is pretty well put together, and anyone visiting a National Park or NPS-maintained site should have this app downloaded. It is very nice that you can download individual parks for offline use. This is especially helpful for parks where there might not be cell service. However, there are a couple things that I would change about the app. First, there should be a way to link your park passes (daily entry, tours, A the B, etc.) to the app. That way you can have everything organized in one place. Second, the maps for individual parks, especially the larger ones, are way too cluttered. Using Yellowstone as an example, there are 515 unique markers on the Yellowstone map. Before it was shuttered, the old Yellowstone app had the PERFECT setup for the map. It would have large markers for the most used points of interest (Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, Mammoth Hot Springs, etc.), while having smaller markers for less used points (trailheads, vault toilets, picnic areas, etc.) Then, when you zoomed out on the map, you would only see the large, important markers. As you zoomed in, the smaller, less used markers would appear. This helped tremendously by keeping the map from being too littered with markers and by making it easy to find the famous points of interest that most people will be looking for.

Useful app but info not available from other devices

The information on the NPS Park app is very helpful. It contains detailed information about the parks, history, access, parking, lodging, and other amenities. A few areas of improvement would be: 1. to be able to retrieve information saved on one device from another device For example, if you save all the parks that you have visited over the years onto one phone, you can’t retrieve it from a tablet or laptop. On top of which once you get a new phone there’s no way to transfer the information. You have to enter it all over again since there’s no way to retrieve that history. 2. The app has a lot of good information but is not the most intuitive to navigate. Frequently you are told where you can locate information, but there is no link provided to let you go to that page. 3. A note to the NPS developers. While there are buttons on each page that ask whether the page was helpful, there is no place to provide general feedback so that the end-user could provide suggestions.

Awesome start. Hoping for many more features.

Honestly this is one of my favorite apps. Even if I’m not traveling, I like to load the app and explore parks from afar. I love how much love and energy went into this app. It’s obvious that the content comes from people who love the parks as much as we do. Here’s what I’d love to see: Improve offline access: being able to save parks for offline use is awesome. However, the app spends a really long time trying to load when you don’t have internet access before finally giving an error message and then loading after a delay. I wish the app would start in offline mode (offline is default) and then access the internet once the app is loaded. Sort by ability or activity level: I wish I didn’t have to load every single item in a list to see if a trail or thing is ADA accessible. Maybe add an icon to the items on a list… or add a filter. Passport stamp locations: I love this feature. Can the items on this list be clickable? Take me to the entry for that visitors center, so I can find info on accessing it. More pictures: I’m disabled and physical access can be an issue. It’s so cool to be able to see places I’ll never be able to visit. Show me the super advanced hikes I’ll never get to. And show us more wildlife we might have trouble seeing on our visit! I’ve got a million suggestions but you all are busy people. Thanks for making a cool app. Looking forward to updates.

15+ Best New Orleans “Park and Cruise” Hotels (Free/Discounted Parking)

Let’s face it — parking for your cruise can be expensive. The Port of New Orleans charges $25 per day . And while there are some cheaper options for parking, there aren’t many independent lots in the city.

However, that doesn’t you have to shell out hundreds of dollars to park for your trip. In fact, many hotels in the area offer free or discounted parking during your trip, as long as you stay at least one night with them. That’s a great deal if you plan to be in the area anyway.

Below, we’ve rounded up many of the most prominent hotels to offer parking packages while you cruise.

Given the number of hotels in the area (there are nearly 100 within a mile of the cruise port alone), this is by no means a list of every New Orleans hotel to offer park and cruise packages. If you find another hotel you’d like to stay, it’s worth a call to see if they offer parking during the cruise.

One thing to note is that the cruise port sits right near the popular French Quarter and entertainment district. While there are lots of hotels here, only a few offer cruise parking as space is at a premium. Instead, many of the hotels with parking sit farther from the ships.

For the sake of simplicity, we’ve left off hotels that offer discounts on parking, but that are still higher-priced than independent parking lots. (For example, some hotels in the port area offer 50% off parking for cruise guests, but it still comes in at more than $20 a night.)

New Orleans Hotels With Cruise Parking

Click on each hotel name to read reviews and see pricing. For hotels that offer parking through a package, you may have to book through the hotel website.

Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Convention Center Perhaps the closest hotel to the cruise port with parking, this Hampton Inn puts you just across the convention center from your cruise ship. While parking isn’t free, they offer a “Cruise Parking Package.” With this deal, you can get parking during your cruise for $17 a night. That’s $8 per night less than what’s charge at the nearby cruise terminal. In addition, there is a shuttle to and from the port included.

  • Price: $$-$$$
  • Distance to Port: 0.5 miles
  • Review Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Wyndham New Orleans French Quarter Wyndham offers close accommodations to the cruise port, at just a mile away. With their “Park & Cruise” package, you’ll have a one-night stay plus up to 7 days of parking with the hotel. A recent search showed the parking package at $70 more than the base nightly rate, so on a week’s cruise you’ll save about 60% off the cost of parking at the port.

  • Distance to Port: 1.5 miles
  • Review Rating: 4 out of 5

Maison St. Charles This hotel is located close to the port and the national WWII museum. Parking is normally a charge, but book their “Park & Cruise” package and you can park in their secured lot for up to seven nights. After that, it’s $15 per night. People looking for a spot that has the classic New Orleans architecture and feel will prefer a hotel like this one versus more contemporary styles elsewhere.

  • Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Federal City Inn & Suites Federal City sits across the Mississippi River near Algiers Point and just a couple of miles from where the cruise ships dock. According to its website, you can “park your car at the hotel during the cruise, included at no additional charge with your pre- and post-cruise stay.” Rates are relatively affordable and the hotel gets good reviews.

  • Distance to Port: 2 miles

Holiday Inn-Downtown Superdome This hotel is located roughly a mile from the port (as the crow flies), near the Superdome. Their parking package includes up to eight nights of parking in an indoor parking garage a prime spot in the French Quarter. Meanwhile, the cost was only about $60 more than the base rate, making it a great deal considering parking for a week at the port runs $175.

  • Distance to Port: 2.5 miles

Homewood Suites West Bank/Gretna Homewood Suites offers some of the highest ratings of any hotel near the cruise port. While you aren’t in the middle of the French Quarter, you can get an affordable stay and you are just a short distance away. Best off all, they allow you to leave your car for free (just let them know you’ll leave your car when you arrive). You will need to arrange your own transportation to and from the port.

  • Distance to Port: 3.5 miles

Holiday Inn West Bank This hotel is distinctive for its circular tower shape and its location on the opposite side of the river from the cruise terminals. In fact, if you have an upper floor room facing the port, you’ll be able to see your ship on cruise day. The parking package gives you parking during your cruise for up to eight days (additional days are $10 per day). No port transportation is provided with the park and cruise package, but it’s a short taxi or Uber/Lyft to the port. Rates for the parking package are roughly $30 more per night, giving you a big discount over parking at the port.

  • Distance to Port: 4 miles

Courtyard Marriott New Orleans Westbank/Gretna Located just across the river from the cruise port, this hotel is right next to the Holiday Inn West Bank. It’s fairly new and situated right next to the freeway, making getting to the port a breeze. It’s also near a shopping mall should you need any last-minute items for your cruise. The hotel lets passengers leave their car for free during the cruise (just let them know at check-in). You will need to arrange transportation back and forth between the hotel and the ship.

Hampton Inn & Suites Harvey/New Orleans West Bank This Hampton Inn sits south of New Orleans, about a 15-minute ride to the cruise ship. But it also offers one of the best deals for parking. We called and they allow you to park your car for free while you cruise if you stay the night before. In addition, they have a third-party shuttle to the cruise port for just $10 per person. All you need to do is let the staff know at check-in that you’d like to leave your car.

  • Distance to Port: 7 miles

TownePlace Suites by Marriott New Orleans Harvey/West Bank This hotel sits in a group of spots in the Harvey area, including the Hampton Inn mentioned above. Many of these hotels offer cruise parking packages and have high ratings. TownePlace Suites is relatively new with a pool and tucked back from the road. We called the hotel and parking is free, just let the front desk know you’d like to leave the car. You will need to arrange transportation to/from the port.

  • Distance to Port: 8 miles

Best Western Plus West Bank If you want a taste of New Orleans without the price or hassle of staying in the busy French Quarter, this might be it. It’s relatively simple accommodations but built with an inner courtyard that’s reminiscent of older hotels. Inside the courtyard is the pool and even wrought-iron balcony railings that would look right at home on Bourbon Street. The hotel offers a “Cruise Park and Stay” deal with parking included for 7 nights (extra nights are $10 each) and a one-way shuttle to the port. You will need to find a ride back to your car.

Comfort Suites Harvey New Orleans West Need a little more elbow room? Comfort Suites offers larger spaces with its suite rooms, making them ideal for those traveling with families. When we called the hotel, they said they offered a cruise package for $249 per room that included parking and round trip transportation between the hotel and the port.

Residence Inn New Orleans Metairie If you’re wanting to stay in the heart of the French Quarter and walk from bar to bar, this isn’t your top choice. If you simply want somewhere highly-rated and affordable, it’s a great option. It was recently renovated and earns high reviews. When we called the hotel, we were told that parking is free during your cruise, but there was no transportation to the port. An Uber or Lyft would be under $20 each way.

  • Distance to Port: 8.5 miles

Hampton Inn Metairie With Hampton Inn, you know that you’ll get an affordable place that’s comfortable and welcoming. That’s the case for this Hampton Inn in Metairie. Still about nine miles from the port, it’s ideal if you simply want somewhere comfortable and clean to sleep and don’t have to be in the middle of the action. Parking is offered for free, just let the front desk know first. Also, keep in mind there there is no transport to the cruise terminal.

  • Distance to Port: 9 miles

Ramada Metairie This hotel a few miles from the port, and not near as luxe as many of the hotels in the French Quarter. However, it’s a serviceable and relatively cheap place to stay, providing an option for those not wanting to pay higher prices elsewhere. You can park for free (just let the front desk know) but you’ll need an Uber/Lyft or cab to the port on cruise day.

  • Price: $-$$

Hilton New Orleans Airport One spot to find parking for your cruise is with hotels near the airport. These hotels cater to people flying out with parking offers, but there is no rule you can’t use them for a cruise. In this case, the highly rated Hilton New Orleans Airport has a “Park and Go” deal that includes parking for up to 7 nights. It’s priced at $35 over the base nightly right, meaning you save considerably versus parking at the port. You will need to arrange transportation between the hotel and cruise port.

  • Distance to Port: 13.5 miles

Holiday Inn New Orleans Airport North Another hotel situated near the airport, this spot has a “Cruise N Park” deal for passengers. With the deal, which costs about $65 more than the base room rate, you get parking for up to 10 days. In addition, breakfast is also included. (You’ll need to arrange transportation to the cruise terminal and back.)

You are a considerable distance from the port, but the hotel is highly rated and the parking offer would save you roughly $100 off parking at the port.

  • Distance to Port: 14.5 miles

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get to the cruise port if the hotel doesn’t offer a ride? You’ll notice that many hotels on our list don’t offer a transportation to the cruise terminals. No worries. You can call an Uber or a Lyft, or a local taxi. For most hotels on our list, it will cost about $15-$20 to get to the terminals. Considering how much you can save on parking, that’s a small price to pay.

Why don’t hotels closer to the cruise port offer parking? In a perfect world, there would be a ton of hotels right next to the port that offer cruise parking. In reality, the port is right near the French Quarter where parking is at a premium. Many hotels in this area charge upwards of $30-40 in parking for their guests each night. At that price, it’s much cheaper just to park at the port.

What about New Orleans hotels with airport and cruise shuttles? If you want a hotel with a shuttle to the cruise terminal and that can pick you up from the airport, we have you covered. Our list of New Orleans hotels with cruise shuttles can be found here .

Strangely enough, the Wyndham New Orleans French Quarter raised the price $168 from their website when I called to confirm the parking. At that rate, I’ll just park at the terminal. Looks like I’ll be scrapping my Wyndham rewards points if they are going to be lying that blatantly.

The federal city inn and suites allows free parking if you stay the night before your cruise

I just called the Wyndham to check on extended parking at the Wyndham New Orleans French Quarter on 124 Royal St. I was told they do not offer extended parking at that location.

According to their website ( https://www.wyndhamfrenchquarter.com/special-offers ) they have a Park & Cruise package that says:

“Set sail from French Quarter and enjoy 7 days of free parking! Book our Park & Cruise Package, stay the night and we’ll keep your car safe with 7 days worth of parking included in your rate.”

The Courtyard Marriott Gretna New Orleans does not allow “Park and cruise”. We are staying there one night then it’s $10 per day to park your car there during your cruise. This is a very misleading advertisement.

So it’s $10 per day? The port charges $20-22 per day. You’re saving about 50% on your parking. That’s a great deal.

Yes, after a couple of phone calls I just found out the same thing. I wish I had read your comment first, because prior to calling I spent 30 minutes looking for the info on their website.

Thanks for letting us know. We just called the hotel and updated the section. It’s $10 per day for parking and there is a $10 per person ride (third party) to the port. They have done away with their package deal.

Gandikap - all you need to know before you go (2024).

I was laid off one day before my 2nd child was born. I landed a job at Meta in a month thanks to 5 habits I practiced even before the layoff.

  • Vishwanath Eswarakrishnan joined Meta after being laid off from Cruise in December.
  • His second layoff occurred following a Cruise robotaxi accident in San Francisco.
  • Focusing on being a good engineer and what he could control helped him land a job within a month.

Insider Today

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Vishwanath Eswarakrishnan, a software engineer who joined Meta's Menlo Park, California office in March 2024. It has been edited for length and clarity. Business Insider has verified his employment history.

I have been laid off twice, both during crucial times in my personal life.

Two years into my software engineering career, I was impacted by a reduction in force at a data infrastructure company. I was laid off on March 1 and had 30 days to find another job that would sponsor a work visa .

I managed to get an offer from Oracle, and the company suggested I work from another country until they could sponsor my H-1B in a year. But it wasn't an option for me — I was about to get engaged to my now-wife and needed something secure.

I got another offer from a data storage startup days before my stay in the US expired. I worked there for close to five years and moved to eBay in 2020 and then to Cruise in 2022.

My second layoff came in December last year after a Cruise robotaxi was involved in a pedestrian accident in San Francisco. (The company laid off 24% of its workforce .)

I was up for a promotion, and the team was preparing my new package. But I was let go from Cruise, and I got the news one day before my wife had our second child. There were complications, and my job was the last thing on my mind.

Related stories

Once things started settling, I updated my LinkedIn to reflect "Open to work" and started receiving messages from recruiters.

Here are three things I did before my layoff and two steps I took after that helped me land a software engineer role at Meta within a month.

1. Maintaining relationships with recruiters

I never intended to be polite to the recruiters who reached out to me while I was employed just so they could help with jobs down the line. But, I always responded to their reach outs on LinkedIn and replied that I'm not looking for a role right now, and asked them to keep in touch. Being responsive and staying connected may have helped the fact that recruiters for AirBnB, Meta, Uber, and Snowflake reached out with opportunities right after my layoff and limited the companies that I had to apply to myself.

2. Focusing on being a good engineer

Throughout my career, I made it a priority to ask questions and not do my job like a mechanical task. Asking why things work, and why things are done the way they are made me a better engineer, and made it much easier for me to answer both technical and leadership questions at interviews even though my schedule was packed to the brim.

I was also able to reach out to an ex-manager from my time at eBay who moved to Meta and ask him to refer me, because he remembered me and was happy to vouch for my work.

3. Domain variety

Even after my first layoff, I never tested the market every few years to gauge my worth. Switching companies was always a last resort, and I only moved when I felt like I had exhausted my learning or when I no longer saw a work-life balance fit.

I asked for internal transfers and joined growing companies where I could hone various domains. I moved from security to core infrastructure and then to infrastructure for running simulations, which made me a good fit for many different openings and increased the chances of recruiters approaching me.

4. Not stressing over the big picture

One mindset that helped me stay calm during the process was focusing on what I could control, which was preparation for the interviews. Thinking about the thousands of other tech workers who have been let go would only have been demoralizing. Whenever thoughts of the layoff crossed my mind, I stopped thinking about it and focused on practicing my coding and system-design interviews.

5. Organizing

Having a calendar where I noted all my interviews, along with the names of the recruiters, was a lifesaver during that time period. Jotting down all my appointments helped me plan each day, especially since I gave a few interviews at the hospital during doctor visits for my newborn.

Writing down the names of the people I was interviewing with gave me context and jogged my memory about what had been discussed with the company or the hiring manager before.

park and go cruise

Who says you need to go out of state for a great vacation?

If you're looking to leave behind your daily grind for a week or a weekend, Iowa has plenty of memorable attractions. Here are some ideas to get you started as you look for your next great getaway.

Field of Dreams, Dyersville

The rural property where beloved baseball movie "Field of Dreams" was shot is located just outside Dyersville in northeast Iowa. The field and farmhouse shown in the film are open for guided tours.

In recent years the site has grown, hosting its first Major League Baseball game in 2021. In future years, developers plan to build a permanent, 3,000-seat stadium, surrounded by youth sports fields, an amphitheater, a hotel and other amenities.

More: Visiting the Field of Dreams? Here are things to do and restaurants to try in Dyersville

Riverboat cruises and National Mississippi River Museum

Iowa's history has always been closely tied to the Mississippi River, the second-longest in North America. Today, there are lots of opportunities to experience this famous waterways for yourself on a variety of cruises, ranging from short excursions to multi-day tours.

Of particular interest to history buffs will be those offered on two paddlewheel steamers. Celebration Belle sails from Dubuque and from Moline, Illinois, and LeClaire in the Quad Cities with a mix of lunch, dinner and daylong cruises. Riverboat Twilight offers two-day cruises from LeClaire to Dubuque and back, as well as a one-day cruise from Dubuque and a 90-minute jaunt from LeClaire.

While in Dubuque, you can also visit the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium , which combines history and biology to tell the story of the past, present and future of the great river.

Camping in Maquoketa Caves State Park

From old-growth forests to lakeside views, Iowa has many scenic locations for outdoor lovers to go camping in. A particularly memorable location is Maquoketa Caves State Park , where visitors can explore the park's famous cave systems.

Other popular campgrounds include Ledges State Park near Boone and Lacey-Keosauqua State Park near Keosauqua, all operated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, as well as other private- and county-owned campgrounds around the state.

Check out Iowa's many trails

Whether for mountain biking, hard-core hiking or just a pleasant evening stroll, Iowa has numerous options to get out on the trails.

Some of the top-rated trails, according to AllTrails.com , include the 1.7-mile Maquoketa Caves Loop, the 4.2 mile Wildcat Den Trail at Wildcat Den State Park, and the 6.3-mile loop through the Dozer Cut, Bunker Hill and Badger Ridge trails at the Hitchcock Nature Center.

Explore the lakes at Okoboji

Iowa has many scenic lakes, but few that draw as many visitors as the Iowa Great Lakes, primarily Big Spirit Lake and East and West Lake Okoboji.

In addition to the beaches and scenery, visitors can check out the Arnolds Park amusement park, several concert venues and Friday night firework displays throughout the summer.
