Blink-182 have announced their biggest ever tour, with Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker reuniting for the first time in almost 10 years.

The colossal globetrotting tour will arrive in Australia and New Zealand in February 2024. Beginning in Perth on February 9th, the trio will then visit Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, before heading to Aotearoa for shows in Auckland and Christchurch (see full dates below).

The iconic pop-punk band have also confirmed stellar supporting artists for each leg of the world tour, with acclaimed punk rockers Rise Against set to back them up in Australia and New Zealand.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, October 20th at 1pm local time. The blink-182 fan club pre-sale begins on Thursday, October 13th at 12pm local time, running until Wednesday, October 19th at 12pm local time.

Both the Live Nation and Spotify pre-sales then commence on Wednesday, October 19th at 1pm local time, concluding on Thursday, October 20th at 12pm local time.

After forming 30 years ago, blink-182 have become one of the most beloved rock bands to emerge from the US. As The New York Times once wrote, “no punk band of the 1990s has been more influential than blink-182.”

And with DeLonge back on guitar duties for the first time since 2015, the “classic” blink-182 lineup should ensure tickets for the forthcoming tour sell out quickly. The band are also set to share their new single “Edging” this Friday, October 14th, marking the first time in a decade that Hoppus, DeLonge, and Barker have worked in the studio together.

Blink-182 reunite for massive world tour including two New Zealand show dates

They’re getting the band back together!

It's good news for fans of multi-award-winning band Blink 182, as they have announced this morning that they are coming to New Zealand in 2024 and releasing a brand-new single.

For the first time in nearly 10 years, Blink-182 fans will see Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker reunite for their biggest tour ever.

Having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and securing a loyal following, Blink-182 became a defining rock band for children of the 90s who will no doubt be dusting off their distressed denim in anticipation.

Playing in America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Kiwi fans will be treated to not one but two shows - Auckland on March 2, and again in Christchurch on March 4, 2024.

It comes amid news the band are releasing their latest single, Edging, this Friday, October 14. The song will mark the first time the trio have been in a studio together in over a decade after singer/guitarist DeLonge left the band twice – first in 2005 and again in 2014.

He will reprise his position as singer/guitarist alongside drummer Barker and singer/bassist Hoppus.

The exciting news comes after Hoppus revealed last year he had been writing new music for the band.

One month before announcing his cancer diagnosis , the star appeared in a Twitch live stream where he was asked if new music was on its way and he said: "I recorded literally yesterday.

"So upcoming recording is happening as we speak. It was new Blink, not Simple Creatures or anything else."

After being diagnosed with unspecified cancer, the star said he wasn't letting his health get in the way of him working on new music and said: "I'm blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this."

Drummer Barker recently married reality star Kourtney Kardashian, and it's unknown if the star will join him on the lengthy tour.

Concertgoers were thrilled to see Rise Against take the stage and kick off the night with their signature punk rock sound. The band’s politically charged lyrics and high-energy performance got the crowd pumped up and ready for the wild show to follow.

Opening with Anthem Part Two, the Blink-182 boys: Travis, Tom & Mark launched straight into delivering their nonstop rock/punk/pop fusion that so irreverently punctuated the 90s and early 2000s. Spark Arena’s packed-out space of flailing mostly 30-something adults regressed to emo-kidulthood, resuming buried teenage angst and anti-establishment thrashing. Blink-182 mustered something of a fully necessary musically regressive therapy session for Auckland last night.

Casually wandering out, Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker took centre stage to a roaring crowd. The hits and the bangers came with equal intensity and reverence from the crowd. Blink’s naughty little interludes reminded the crowd that once upon a time, laughing at the things a 14-year-old might find funny felt less like a sign of immaturity than it was a noble search for identity at the expense of eye-rolling adults.

They even peppered in a bunch of newer tracks from their latest album ‘One More Time’ to which the crowd jammed. Ultimately Spark Arena warmed most to those familiar and generationally loved Blink-182 anthems – nostalgic, raw, singalong-perfection excellence.

Tracks they played from their latest 2023 album, included ‘More Than You Know’ and the suggestive ‘Edging’. Party tracks like ‘Dance With Me’ brought that nonstop American rock with punk undertones, through even stronger with the crowd dropping their best dance moves. Our show encore was the slower, ‘One More Time’, which, in my opinion, was the most perfect and beautiful way to send the buzzing crowd off into the rest of their weekend.

At one point early in the evening, Mark mentioned being nice to Tom as he “ hadn’t had a very good day today ” but was trucking on with his best jokes and performance for us. The crowd, of course, cheered as loud as they possibly could for the guy to let him know we heard, and we were there.

The band’s accompanying visuals were some of the best and most visually engaging seen recently, well-drawn comic and Saturday morning cartoon styled with vibrant colours and intentionally puerile subject matter. These included a liberal sprinkling of references to UFOs & Aliens, DeLonge’s second or first love after music depending on who is asked. As well as live audience captures, photos of the band, profanities and even an animation of Janine Lindemulder, the nurse costume-wearing model from the controversial cover of their 1999 album, Enema of the State.

The visuals were equal but surpassed by the audio quality, both the band’s music performance and their audio were so massive and crystal clear in ways not always seen in Spark with big international acts, that even a casual fan couldn’t help but embrace the hype. As Tom jokingly said, “ Our band is not as cool without the 60 people behind the scenes making us look good. “

During the middle of the show, Mark announced that the “ Emo part of the show was happening now “. We were instructed to grow out our long fringes, dress up in our best My Chemical Romance gear and enjoy tracks like ‘Stay Together For the Kids’. Witnessing a large group of Blink fans recklessly throwing themselves into nostalgic tracks is truly an indescribable experience. For some, it may have been a challenging time in their lives as they tried to make sense of all that teenage angst.

I adored hearing the track ‘Down’ from the self-titled 2003 album – another nostalgic track from my early teenage years. Along with ‘Miss You’ which was dubbed ‘a singalong track’. We were all told jokingly not to sing over Mark’s verse, but to sing over Tom. You don’t need to tell me again and I belted out “ Don’t waste your time on me, you’re already the voice in my head ” all in that signature twangy whingey emo tone we all perfected way back when along with the sold-out crowd. I found myself giggling like a schoolgirl along with Mark and Tom’s humorous banter throughout the night. They truly exude that energy of your friend’s teenage big brothers who never quite grew up, in a way that now more than ever feels surprisingly innocent in a modern context. Even if it was just for a couple of hours, they provided the perfect escape from everyday life.

At this point in the night, I was starting to lose my voice from singing and the slightly inebriated guy next to us had gone from joyfully belting out tunes to falling asleep in his chair… Having earlier proudly professed he’d “ purchased these tickets more than two years ago! ”. Bless him, the emo portion of the show was too much for his heavy heart.

Towards the end of the show, Blink brought out the tracks we all know so well, as Mark mentioned “ Is it time? ” to which Tom replied, “ Yeah it’s time ”. What’s My Age Again, First Date, All the Small Things and Dammit ensued. The regression was complete, apparently, that thing that “only 90s kids will remember” was growing up with Blink-182 scoring your life.

This was the first time I’ve seen Blink-182 live and hopefully not the last. When everything feels like it’s falling to pieces, at least we have Blink-182, right? They brought Auckland a truly special show and I can’t fault a single thing, except my sore vocal chords.

Blink-182 to play live in New Zealand in 2024 as part of major global tour

  • Darren Bevan

Blink-182 is coming to New Zealand.

But there's going to be a bit of a wait for the All The Small Things band - they won't be on these shores until 2024.

The band's announced overnight (local time) they'll be carrying out a global tour, with the original line-up of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker reuniting for the first time in nearly 10 years.

The world tour kicks off in March 2023 in Latin America and will conclude in New Zealand in February 2024.

More from Newshub

Blink-182 will play Auckland's Spark Arena on February 23, before going to Christchurch to end the tour at the Christchurch Arena on February 26.

After a series of pre-sales, tickets will go on sale to the general public from Thursday, October 20 at 1pm.

Blink-182 has sold over 50 million albums worldwide.

The band has also announced they'll be releasing a new single, called 'Edging', this Friday, marking the first time in a decade that Mark, Tom and Travis have been in the studio together.

Blink-182: Australian and New Zealand Tour 2024

'I Miss You' isn't just the name of a beloved blink-182 song. It isn't just a track they're busting out on their 2024 tour Down Under , either. It's also the vibe being felt around the band in general, based on how popular tickets to its 2024 Australian and New Zealand tour have been proving — but there's still seats available.

In 2022, blink-182 revealed that they were reforming their classic lineup of Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, then hitting the road — and that Aussie fans would get their chance to see the end result live in February and March 2024. Auckland's dates, at the Spark Arena with Rise Against in support: Saturday, March 2.

For three decades, blink-182 have been the voice inside punk and rock fans' heads, especially in the late 90s and early 00s thanks to albums Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket . Accordingly, expect to hear everything from 'Dammit' and 'The Rockshow' to 'What's My Age Again?' and 'All the Small Things' live.

Now that they're back together after DeLonge left the band in 2015, blink-182 are also recording new music together, with single 'Edging' out now — and on the setlist.
