ATLANTA (November 7, 2022) – The Royal Comedy 2023 tour, featuring Sommore, Bruce Bruce, Lavell Crawford, Special K, Bill Bellamy, and JJ Williamson,   is coming to the award-winning State Farm Arena at 8 p.m. on Feb. 17. Showcasing a star-studded lineup of world-class comedians, Royal Comedy 2023 officially kicks off in Feb. 3 in Orlando before making its way to Atlanta. Tickets go on sale to the general public 10 a.m. local time on Friday, Nov. 11 at Ticketmaster.com .  Ticket prices start at $59 plus additional taxes and fees. In less than two years of launching his stand-up career, Bellamy earned a spot on HBO’s DEF COMEDY JAM where he notoriously coined the phrase “Booty Call.” The now famous late-night rendez-vous moniker became the name for his first comedy special for Showtime; “Booty Call” and it was instantly one of the network’s top-rated specials.

Bellamy became a staple on MTV as one of the first “VJs” on the network. He hosted several of their programming blocks, including MTV JAMS and MTV BEACH HOUSE, while interviewing everyone from the late Kurt Cobain to Janet Jackson. ‘i love florida:’ comedian bill bellamy to take the stage in orlando, former mtv vj, stand-up comic talks spending summers in florida as a child.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Bill Bellamy is kind of a Florida boy. The comedian said although he spent a large part of his childhood in Newark, New Jersey, his parents are from the Sunshine State and he spent most of his summers growing up here too.

“I would always spend my summers between Miami, Tallahassee, and Marianna, Florida, then we go to Tampa. So all those little areas, all the alligators, I know all that stuff,” Bellamy said.

He said when he stayed with his grandparents, they would put him to work.

“I used to have to feed the hogs on my on my grandparents’ farm,” the comedian said. “And one morning very early, I was out there and I was like, ‘That’s not a regular cat’ and I look and I ran in the house and my grandmother, I told my grandmother, I said, ‘Grandma I think there’s a big cat.’ She said, ‘Oh, that ain’t nothing but a panther.’”

Bellamy said he was not interested in going back outside to feed the livestock after that.

“When I saw that, I was like, ‘These hogs gonna be hungry today. I am not gonna stand out here and get taken away by a panther,’” Bellamy said. “I didn’t even know y’all had your own cats, the panthers.”

He has grown up a lot since his childhood on the farm in Florida and is now better known for his acting, VJ days on MTV and stand-up comedy act.

Bellamy will bring his comedy tour to the Orlando Improv Friday for 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows and Saturday for 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. shows.

The 21+ shows are a special engagement and include admission, priority seating and an exclusive meet-and-greet with Bellamy.

“We did a lot of choreography. For all the guys out there that are strippers, my hat goes off to you. I did not know it was that hard. I did not know your abs hurt, your back hurts, your shoulders hurt, your quads hurt, from dancing. We would dance every single day, it was bananas,” he said.

With Paolo Banchero's selection in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic at No. 1, Duke now boasts five top overall picks in draft history (since 1947) — the most of any NCAA school.

Banchero joins Zion Williamson (2019), Kyrie Irving (2011), Elton Brand (1999) and Art Heyman (1963) as Blue Devils to hear their names called to start off draft night.

After Duke, Kentucky has the next most top picks with three — Karl Anthony-Towns (2015), Anthony Davis (2012) and John Wall (2010).
