Wow! This was a great experience. Beautiful scenery, so much history and alot of fun. Great day on the water for us was so clear and calm. Thank you ! Highly recommended.
Captain Jen and her crew were awesome. Made us feel like family. The brunch we had was delicious. The information we learned was amazing. Going through the locks was a super neat first time experience. 🥰🥰
The tour was most enjoyable, the Captain and crew were both personable and entertaining. The boat was nicely configured for comfort and convenience. The ride was smooth and there was an unobstructed view of all the points of interest. A great time out on the lake!
The captain, the staff, the boat, the history and the many sights during the tour made this an outstanding experience. Don’t miss it!
The Shipwreck tour was amazing.. We had a perfect day to do the tour.. Captain Jennifer was amazing lots of knowledge and friendly staff.. Will definitely do the tour again...
We had a great time with Rob and Captain Jen! They were very knowledgeable and entertaining. I would definitely take more friends on this tour.
Loved the tour! Very informative and captain Jen will keep you laughing! I recommend to everyone! Don't forget to shout out, TIMBER!
Scenery was gorgeous! Captain Jenn and first mate Maria were phenomenal! Made my grandson 2nd mate! He returned the favor by ducking Jenn's jeep!
Had my wedding on the boat and it was absolutely perfect. They were so accommodating with my plans. Captain Jenn was quick to respond to any requests. We all highly recommend that you check out the tour, wither it's a private tour or not. Simply amazing.
Captain Jen really went out of her way to make this a fun and special trip for everyone on board. The group we were in had a lot of young kids. I loved how interactive and engaging the captain made the trip for them, as well as the adults. Definitely recommend.
We went on the shipwreck tour and it did not disappoint! Beautiful views, spooky shipwrecks, and the tour guides were very funny and informative :) definitely stop here on your trip to Cheboygan!
I loved that the crew seemed to vibe so well together, and were upbeat and enthusiastic. They were great with the kids and kept it fun and interesting for them. Snorkeling over the shipwreck was an awesome experience!

It was neat seeing what we did see on the bottom but for a two hour boat tour there was maybe 10-15 minutes of viewing things underwater. Our tour only saw two spots which for a ship wreck tour I was expecting to see more and it was disappointing. There were two groups on the boat so one group viewed, then switched, then the second group. It let everyone see what was down there but if it wasn't your turn to view, you basically sit on the boat staring at the water. My opinion only, but they multiple groups and flip flopping viewing time is just a big waste of time. If your group isn't t viewing, you're wasting trip time sitting on the deck and trip time is wasted switching groups. One group on a smaller boat would have save switching/viewing time and maybe we could have seen 3-4 sites instead of 2. We did stop by an old light house and it was neat but it was a ship wrecks tour and would rather have seen more underwater features. The lighthouse and rocky shore is stuff I got to see on the pictures rocks lakeshore tour. All that being said the staff was friendly and knowledgeable and I felt safe out on the boat. The dog kennel are was clean and I had no worries or concerns leaving my dog there. Overall it was a neat trip but I probably wouldn't do it again. There wasn't enough ship wrecks and underwater viewing and too much time is spent flip flopping groups/waiting for the other group.
A group of us took this tour and it was pretty cool. The weather was bad when we got our tickets but we were told that we shouldn't worry about being out in the weather because there was enough seating for eighty people. There may have been enough seats for eighty but more than half were on top and while covered it was pretty windy and cold. Seating is first come and we were lucky enough to get a seat out of the cold. During this tour you get a chance to see two shipwrecks and a lighthouse. You can also see Pictured Rocks across the bay. There was some "pictured rock" on our side of the bay too but for whatever reason I don't think it is the "official" rock. My husband and I chose this tour in part because we would be able to see the rocks AND the wrecks.....and it was cheaper than the Pictured Rock tour. Our captain Kate knew her stuff and was very good at piloting the boat, however she sounded rather scripted and had a monotone. It would have been more fun if she could have loosened up a little and had fun with it. I realize she must get tired of repeating the same thing over and over again but as someone hearing it for the first time I would prefer a more fun rendition. You are encouraged to bring your own snacks and non alcoholic drinks with you however they do have cans of pop and small snacks available for purchase. My party was glad that we chose this tour over the other one in the area.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! An enjoyable 2-hour tour on Lake Superior. We visited 2 underwater shipwrecks, a small lighthouse, and a beautiful shallow sea cave that had sparkling turquoise water and incredible rock formations. The tour guides were super-friendly and knowledgeable, and definitely made the experience top-notch. TICKETS: We bought ours in advance online, which is recommended. However, tickets are also sold onsite in the gift shop/check-in area. GETTING ONBOARD: About 1 flight of outdoor steps down to the waterfront, then a short walk down the dock to hand over tickets. Then they take everyone's picture and try to sell it to you afterward. I usually hate when places do that, but these photos were nice, only $8, and they didn't pressure anyone to buy them. There are maybe 3 steps into the boat to board the main deck. Seating is available on this level, which is nice if you want to stay out of the sun. You can also go above deck, which has wraparound seating (in direct sun.) FOOD & DRINK: You are welcome to bring soft drinks or snacks aboard. We bought some from their gift shop after check-in. Once aboard, water & sodas are available for $2. BATHROOMS: There's a bathroom on the main deck of the boat. There's also bathrooms in the gift shop - and they were very clean. UNDERWATER VIEWING: The "glass bottom" windows are on the main deck. When you reach a shipwreck, everyone gathers around these windows to view what's under the boat. There's also 2 TV screens on the main deck that show what's underwater, which is convenient for anyone who may have mobility issues. GOOD FOR: All ages - but I personally wouldn't recommend children that are very young or have trouble sitting still.

Well worth the price of admission! The Captain and staff were helpful and knowledgeable .As a bonus,Captain is got us right up next to the rocks/cliffs! Would do again.
This tour is fascinating and piqued my interest in shipwrecks! The crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. Covid precautious were evident throughout the tour which put us at ease. Huge glass windows on the boat made it easy to see the wrecks, but it was also easy to view the wrecks through the clear water. We were glad we took the tour. I would recommend this tour for all ages.
This tour was beyond what I expected. It delivered everything advertised and more. The tour guide was excellent and the ships captain went back and forth over the wrecks as everything was explained. The tour of the bay was beautiful. This was a great value. Would highly recommend this to everyone adults snd children alike.
Interesting narration by Captain Theresa and Anne Marie, with quality speakers so we could actually easily understand what was being said. Captain handled the boat masterfully, smoothly gliding back and forth over the shipwrecks, allowing everyone a clear view. The bald eagle in its nest was a fabulous bonus. Highly recommend!!
Great crew and tour. Lots of fascinating information. Captain Teresa was knowledgeable and self-deprecating! The office staff was really helpful In rescheduling is a couple of times.
A two-hour tour of several shipwreck sites, and some of the shore and island around them. Having only passed through Munising before, I enjoyed some of the background of the area as well as seeing the shipwrecks through a glass-bottomed boat. My 17 year old loved it, and she pointed out that glass-bottom tours are common "throughout the world." This is the first one I was on, and found it entertaining. A tip is to decide where you want to sit on the boat, depending on the weather. There is the adults-only bow, where you are not supposed to stand. It is good if it is not too hot and sunny for your liking. It does have a lot of breeze to cool you. Being in back upstairs can be hot with little cooling if the sun is shining on you. If the weather is bad, you can sit below-deck (where the glass bottom is). There is also a front section below without a glass bottom where you can sit, and probably will if the weather is bad. My family made several purchases in the gift shop. Our dog was well taken care of in the free kennel at the side of the building. They provided a nice bowl of water for her.
The Shipwreck Tours are awesome. Me and my family went and we got into a glass bottom boat. Unluckily for us Lake Superior was having some rough tide and nobody wanted to be in a sunken ship of the tour so we only got to go into the Bay Area it was in. Although we only got to see on boat it was still amazing seeing and learning about the ship and it's sinking.

Experience Great Lakes History on Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tours in Michigan
Though Great Lakes waterways are picture-perfect on a calm day, rough seas and unpredictable storms have claimed many ships too, giving Michigan a rich shipwreck history . The best way to see that history up close is on glass bottom shipwreck tours in Michigan .
Because these waters have claimed so many ships, the lake bottoms are dotted with schooners, steamers, and barges, many of which are carefully preserved.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see those shipwrecks up close? If you have, you’re in luck because there are several opportunities in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula for you to see these beautiful relics.
Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tours on Lake Huron
If you’re seeking out glass bottom boat shipwreck tours in Michigan, start on Michigan’s Sunrise Side along the shores of Lake Huron in Alpena & Cheybogan.
Alpena Shipwreck Tours | Alpena MI
Alpena, and Lake Huron by extension, are home to the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary , which protects almost 100 shipwrecks.
Board the Lady Michigan and prepare for an unforgettable shipwreck tour in Lake Huron’s Shipwreck Alley, complete with friendly narration by your guide.
There’s something that’s equally fascinating and eerie about seeing these incredible ships at the bottom of the lake, and a tour guide is on hand to answer all your questions.
The Lady Michigan has plenty of room to explore and many of the wrecks are still intact, making for a great experience as you see Great Lakes history up close.
Unique tour to see wreck remnants, not really recognizable as intact ships. The glass-bottom boat is an easy way to glimpse what divers in the area scout out, and makes for a nice afternoon on Lake Huron. Be aware that getting to and from the actual shipwreck sites takes up the majority of the two-hour time frame. Crew was friendly and entertaining, and offered up some bits of history. – Walker H. via TripAdvisor
When you’re done with the tour, make sure you leave time to visit the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center in Alpena.
Admission is free and you can learn about and explore more of Lake Huron’s shipwrecks. There are lots of placards and exhibits to see and there are immersive exhibits as well. You can walk over the deck of a full-size schooner and feel what it’s like to be underwater by walking through dive tubes.
The visitor center is open year-round and is fun for all ages. It’s visited by nearly 100,000 people each year, so you know you’re in for something special when you visit.
Nautical North Family Adventures | Cheboygan MI
Continue your quest for glass-bottom boat shipwreck tours in Michigan by continuing up the Lake Huron coast to Cheboygan.
Board the Yankee Sunshine with Captain Jenn for a tour from Nautical North Family Adventures. The tour company, which began operations in 2018, offers an experience that’s equal parts educational, fun, and intimate. You can even borrow the company Go-Pro to document your awesome adventure!
Cast off from port and make your way down the Cheboygan River to Lake Huron. Once you’ve hit the big lake, you can see three different lighthouses as well as three different shipwrecks from as far back as 1891 and as recently as 2010.
If you really want a unique experience , try a sunset cruise where the shipwrecks are illuminated by underwater lights.
We had an awesome trip starting at the Marina and heading up the Cheboygan River through the Cheboygan lock and up to just a little past the confluence with the Black River. The weather was perfect and the fall leaf color was getting closer to peak. We didn’t realize there would be a luncheon, so that was a great bonus. The food was plentiful, unique, and delicious (and I’m a picky eater)! We also got to lock through both ways and learned about the history of the lock and the whole area. We don’t have to go all the way to Sault Ste. Marie to watch the boats in a lock. All-in-all, it was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend it. – Pat K. via TripAdvisor
Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tours on Lake Superior
Munising is adored by Michiganders and out-of-state visitors alike for its trips along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
But if you visit, Munising, you absolutely must leave time to do a glass bottom boat tour.
Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tours | Munising MI
Munising’s Shipwreck Tours are some of the oldest in the nation and offer visitors a chance to see the underwater wonders of Lake Superior. It’s one of the few places where you can see these turn-of-the-century wrecks on a glass bottom boat.
Trips are seasonal and last about two hours. Excited visitors can see two different shipwreck sites, including the remains of a fully intact wooden ship from the mid-1800s, the Bermuda . You can also see the remains of the Herman H. Hettler who wrecked when seeking shelter in Munising Harbor in November 1926.
Above water, there’s a chance to see Lake Superior’s sandy beaches, a historic lighthouse, and the beautiful shoreline along Munising Bay. All in all, it makes for a fun day of sightseeing and exploring!
This is a must-do! The main draw is, obviously, seeing sunken ships through the glass-bottom sections of the boat. But there are so many more things to see! The views above the water are absolutely beautiful, & our “all-girl Yooper-crew” gave us nuggets of knowledge along the way. Every single thing about this boat ride was just fabulous, & I strongly encourage everyone even mildly curious to DO THIS! – Kate S. via TripAdvisor
Experiencing Glass Bottom Boat Shipwreck Tours in Michigan
There’s no doubt about it: Glass bottom boat shipwreck tours in Michigan are memorable, exciting, and oh so thrilling.
Here’s what one of our writers had to say about their experience seeing Lake Superior shipwrecks in Munising Bay up close:
Three shipwrecks, one lighthouse, and close-up views of Munising Bay.
I departed Munising on a foggy morning around 10 am, excited for what I was going to see. I have to say that the fog added a little flair to the trip, as it brings this ominous illusion to the boat. I did hear that the shipwrecks are easier to see when it is bright and sunny out, but I had no problem seeing them in the fog. The first site on the trip is the wreck of the Bermuda , a ship that sunk in 1870 from excess weight and a leak in the hull. This shipwreck is less than 12 feet under the surface of the water, letting all the passengers on the glass bottom boat see the ship clearly. After this sight, the tour continues around Grand Island in Munising Bay and pulls up close to the East Channel Lighthouse for some photo opportunities and to tell a little history about the lighthouse. The lightkeeper raised his family on Grand Island making a great living of $400 dollars a year plus benefits (wood for his fire!). The second shipwreck comes shortly after a great view of the Grand Island shoreline. The Herman H. Hettler crashed into a rock reef during a storm in late 1926 and was slowly broken apart from multiple winter storms. While all 16 of the crew members escaped, nothing was salvageable and the steamer was left to be broken apart by nature. Today the wreck is scattered around the bay in varying depths. Still, plenty to see, including the captain’s bathtub and commode! On the way back to the Munising docks, the shipwreck tour shows one more shipwreck that is an unknown wreck . So far no one has been able to identify the story of this ship and there are no records of any ships of this style disappearing. Maybe you can help solve the mystery? This two-hour tour was interesting as well as being educational! The things that you can see from the glass bottom are amazing. History buffs and children will enjoy this ride – even the youngest children enjoy watching the fish under the surface.
Book Your Michigan Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tour Today

There’s something that’s just so peaceful about being out on the Great Lakes, but seeing a shipwreck up close takes the experience to a higher level. Shipwrecks in Door County
A world beneath the surface.
Shipwreck hunting and diving may not be the first activities you think of when you think "Door County," but they're easily some of the coolest. Today, there are around 240 known shipwrecks in the waters of Door County alone (Bermuda Triangle who?), and adventurers can explore about 25 of them in a number of ways, including shipwreck diving, clear-bottom kayak tours, boat rides, and local maritime museums.
Unearth Relics of Maritime History
The waters of Lake Michigan surrounding Door County's peninsula and islands are part of the Saint Lawrence Seaway, the 370-mile system of lakes, rivers, straits, canals, bays, and waterways that connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean.
Countless boats, schooners, and ships have traversed this important route as they transported wares to and from businesses around the region. This waterway is also how many Door County shipbuilders would deliver their products to customers in Chicago, Michigan, and beyond.
Over the centuries, thousands of vessels sank—usually thanks to high winds, thunder storms, on-ship fires, and engine/part failures but sometimes due to pirates or bootleggers, resulting in the hundreds of sunken ships and relics haunting these shores.

Many shipwrecks and their remnants can be seen from the water's surface just by looking from a kayak or boat, but many more can be seen with proper diving equipment.
A handful of shipwrecks are in less than 60 feet of water, so you'll only need basic snorkeling equipment. But there are many more wrecks in 100+ feet of water, which means you'll need specialized diving equipment and training to explore them.
If you're an experienced diver with the proper gear, the waters of Door County present an incredible opportunity for seeing shipwrecks up close. Even if you're not, you can learn about them at local museums or on a kayak, boat, or scenic cruise.

Cross Death's Door Strait if You Dare
Death's Door Strait (AKA Ports des Morts, AKA "Door of the Dead") is infamous for its narrow, rough, and unpredictably windy waters that are now littered with shipwrecks. Once the Sturgeon Bay Ship canal was built in the late 1800s, the number of sinking ships decreased as captains were now able to avoid the strait and protect their vessels from damage.
Today, you can cross Death's Door, but the safest way to do so is by boat or ferry. The waters remain choppy and unpredictable, and attempting to cross on a kayak or another lightweight sea vessel could spell trouble. You can also admire the strait from the safety of Washington Island or the shorelines of the peninsula's tip. Further Reading: How Door County Got Its Name

Guide to the Ships of Fleet Week New York 2024
By Andrew Gustafson
Our favorite week of the year has arrived—it’s Fleet Week! This year’s visitors will include 11 ships from the US Navy, US Coast Guard, and the German Navy, which will be docking on Manhattan’s West Side and at Staten Island’s Homeport pier. There is one important change to note: most of the ships in Manhattan will only be open to the public on Saturday, May 25 , so please view the full schedule of events . If you want to avoid the lines for future Fleet Weeks, consider becoming a member of the New York Council Navy League , which offers VIP tours to members, as well as a host of other great events to support the Sea Services.
And join us on Memorial Day, May 27 at 10:45am for our Fleet Week Harbor Tour with Classic Harbor Line , where we will cruise past all the docking locations, get a waterside view of the ships aboard a beautiful motor yacht, and discuss the rich naval history of the harbor.
Manhattan Pier 88
- Ships open for visitors Saturday, May 25, 9am–4pm
The big ship coming to town this year will be the Norfolk-based amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD-5) , which visited for Fleet Week in 2016 and 2022. Since its last visit, Bataan has seen a lot of action. It was deployed to the Red Sea in August 2023, alongside the dock landing ship Carter Hall , which visited New York in 2019. This was a scheduled deployment for the Amphibious Ready Group, but it meant that these ships were in the theater during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, the subsequent Israeli invasion of Gaza, and the region-wide violence that has erupted in its wake. Bataan was tasked with using its helicopters and aircraft to intercept barrages of missiles and drones fired by the Houthis in Yemen at commercial ships, and to launch strikes against the Houthis and other Iranian-backed militias attacking American bases in Jordan, Iraq, and Syria. They returned to Norfolk in late March.
Manhattan Pier 90
Last year, we were visited by ships from NATO allies Italy, Canada, and the United Kingdom, while this year the only allied ships visiting come from the Deutsche Marine , the German Navy. The frigate FGS Baden-Württemberg (F-222) is one the largest and newest ships in the German fleet; though classed as a frigate, its length and displacement approach the size of an American Arleigh Burke -class destroyer (though with far less firepower). It is also one of the most controversial.
Laid down in 2011, the ship was expected to be completed by 2016, but it encountered major construction problems. The German Navy refused to accept it from the builder as it was overweight and suffered a 1.3º list, so it had to undergo major modifications. It was finally commissioned in 2019, but was not ready for full operational deployment until 2023, 12 years after the keel-laying. And soon it will be replaced, assuming the next class of ships doesn’t run into the same pitfalls. The replacement F126 frigates have already begun construction and are expected to enter service starting in 2028.
Though lightly armed, the large frigate was designed with “long legs,” able to deploy for long periods at long distances from its homeport. This visit to New York represents the first leg of a round-the-world voyage ; after visiting New York, it will head to the Panama Canal and visit allies in the Indo-Pacific region until at least November. Accompanying Baden-Württemberg will be 21,000-ton replenishment ship FGS Frankfurt am Main (A-1412) , which will keep the warship fueled and supplied.
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
- Yard Patrol Boats open for visitors May 23–24, 10am–5pm, USCGC Sturgeon Bay open May 23–27, 10am–5pm
As is tradition, four of the Naval Academy’s Yard Patrol Boats will be joining this year’s festivities. These 119-foot vessels are used to teach midshipmen basic seamanship skills. Alongside them will be a local ship USCGC Sturgeon Bay (WTGB-109) , an icebreaker tug based out of Bayonne, NJ that is a regular participant in Fleet Week. If you want to learn more about what it is like to serve on one of these ships, watch our virtual program about Coast Guard history where we interviewed a crew member and former Turnstile guide Ramon Ortiz.
Staten Island Homeport
- Ships open for visitors May 23–27, 8am–5pm
Another local ship will be participating, the buoy tender USCGC Katherine Walker (WLM-552) , which recently came out of dry dock in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Named for the first female lighthouse keeper who tended the Robbins Reef Light (which will be featured on the tour), this cutter provides vital service maintaining the aids to navigation around the harbor. It will be joined by one of the newest ships in the Coast Guard fleet, the Legend -class National Security Cutter USCGC Calhoun (WMSL-759) , which has been in service for just over a month. Though homeported in Charleston, South Carolina, it is not named for South Carolina senator and arch-secessionist John C. Calhoun, but rather former Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Charles L. Calhoun. Built in Pascagoula, MS by Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding, this is the penultimate in a class of 11 ships that are the largest, longest-ranged, and heaviest-armed ships in the Coast Guard.
While the National Security Cutters likely have long careers ahead of them, the future of the Freedom -class Littoral Combat Ships is far more uncertain. Last year we had the honor of commissioning the USS Cooperstown (LCS-23) in New York City, the first Navy ship commissioning here is 14 years, and the latest model, USS Marinette (LCS-25) will be here for Fleet Week, named for the city of its construction, Marinette, WI, which is home to Fincantieri Marinette Marine. We have noted the problems with these ships every time one comes to visit, but the Navy has come to realize that they are under-gunned, under-armored, and prone to serious mechanical defects. Five of the 13 completed ships habe already been decommissioned, some after less than five years of service.
Waterfront Tours
Turnstile Tours offers several tours that highlight New York’s waterfront, past and present, including tours of the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Brooklyn Army Terminal. We also offer guided boat cruises with Classic Harbor Line about the military and industrial history of the harbor.

Fleet Week NYC 2024: See massive warships sailing around New York to honor service members
Fleet Week is setting sail in New York City from May 21 to May 27 to honor those who serve and protect the United States seas.
Nearly 3,000 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen will be honored at the Hudson River during Fleet Week, which began in 1988.
"Fleet Week New York, now in its 36th year, is a time-honored tradition for the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast team to visit New York City over the Memorial Day weekend,” Director of Public Affairs and Fleet Week New York, Beth Baker, said in a statement to USA TODAY.
“The week-long event provides us an opportunity for the citizens of New York City and the surrounding area to meet their service members and see firsthand the latest capabilities of today's maritime services," Baker said in the statement.
At the Hudson River on Wednesday morning, crew members were getting ready to kickoff the annual event.
Here are some of the things you should know about New York’s Fleet Week:

Fleet Week 2024 sails into the LA Waterfront with ship tours, live music, and galley fun
Battleship iowa will again be a bustling hub, but the "annual celebration of our nation's sea services" will feature several events around town., by alysia gray painter • published may 20, 2024 • updated on may 23, 2024 at 6:24 pm, what to know.
- Los Angeles Fleet Week 2024
- May 22-27; events will take place around the Port of Los Angeles and other Southern California locations
- Active duty ship tours are among the popular offerings of this "annual celebration of our nation's Sea Services"
Sound the trumpets and raise the masts: One of the biggest parties to sail into the Port of Los Angeles is on the horizon, with several tours, concerts, and special events in tow.
24/7 Los Angeles news stream: Watch NBC4 free wherever you are
It's Los Angeles Fleet Week 2024 , the "annual celebration of our nation's Sea Services," and while the yearly happening is focused on showing its gratitude to those who serve, the public is also invited to join the celebration. The USS Carl Vinson, Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, arrived Tuesday in a stunning sight off the Port of LA.
Or make that "celebrations": There are quite a few Fleet Week happenings, and while some will be open solely to veterans — Battleship Iowa tours will be reserved for veterans on the Friday ahead of Memorial Day — there are plenty of pursuits that anyone can join.

As with past Fleet Week festivities, the San Pedro landmark will serve as a busy hub. Active military members and veterans may tour the battleship for free, all weekend long, but other visitors must have a ticket, which should be purchased in advance at the Battleship Iowa site.
Other highlights include "military displays and equipment demonstrations," "aircraft flyovers," and a "Galley Wars" culinary cook-off, a tasty showdown that will find "Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force and Army teams" squaring off for top honors.

The Teddy Bear Picnic is possibly (definitely) LA Arboretum's most adorable event
Welcome Parties will also pop up in both San Pedro and Wilmington.
Visiting the active duty ships is always a major focus of the Fleet Week, so you'll want to review all that you need to know before heading for the Port of Los Angeles.
Military concerts will provide the stirring soundtrack to the long holiday weekend, which will conclude with a Memorial Day Evening Service at Battleship Iowa. Earlier in the day, a U.S. Navy march across the 6th Street Bridge near DTLA will take place from noon to 3 o'clock.
It's a reminder that while plenty is afoot, or rather "asail," around the port area, you'll want to look beyond the LA Waterfront for Fleet Week sights and sounds.

News | Unmanned Navy ‘drone’ ship scheduled to join LA Fleet Week lineup
The USS Sea Hunter — an autonomous, unmanned surface vessel that was christened in Portland, Oregon, in April 2016 — is scheduled to be docked near the aircraft carrier in the Outer Harbor. The aircraft carrier arrived on Tuesday afternoon, May 21. The Coast Guard cutter and USS Sea Hunter are tentatively set to arrive on Thursday, May 23.
The 132-foot-long Sea Hunter, which was built by Vigor Industrial, is an anti-submarine warfare and detection ship that’s designed to travel open seas for months at a time. It can also be used for counter-mine duties. The drone ship has several advantages, such as costing less to produce than manned warships and not putting lives at risk if attacked.
The vessel will be berthed near the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier — the area will be accessible only by trolley — while the Coast Guard cutter will be docked and open for tours Friday through Monday, May 24-27, at the Downtown Harbor next to the Los Angeles Maritime Museum, at Sixth Street and Harbor Boulevard.
The Terrell Horne, which was featured at Fleet Week last year as well, is based in San Pedro. The fast response cutters are replacing the 110-foot, 1980s-era Island-class patrol boats and are designed for multiple missions, including drug and migrant interdictions; port, waterway and coastal security; fishery patrols; search and rescue; and national defense. The cutters feature advanced command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment.
Chief Petty Officer Terrell Horne III, the cutter’s namesake, served as executive petty officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Halibut. He was killed while conducting maritime law enforcement operations near Santa Cruz Island on Dec. 2, 2012.

They were mercilessly mocked by “South Park” creators for their “Worldwide Privacy Tour” — but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be making national tours a part of their repertoire following the success of their recent trip to Nigeria.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now purportedly planning to tour another country following their 3-day visit to the African nation earlier this month.
Harry and Meghan were invited to Nigeria by Christopher Musa, the country’s highest-ranking military official, and were warmly received by locals and powerful politicians alike.
“It was undoubtedly a high-profile success,” royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Mirror on Saturday, saying there’s now whispers that the couple are looking at their next destination.
“Ghana has been mentioned,” he spilled, saying no plans were yet in place.
However, Fitzwilliams warned that the Sussexes should not overplay their hand by embarking on regular national tours — something that is usually done by working members of the royal family.
“Another quasi-royal tour might make the Sussexes objects of mockery,” he asserted.
“They only lasted less than two years as senior working royals. It was originally thought that they would be ideally suited to tours especially those with Commonwealth links and some of their patronages, bestowed by Queen Elizabeth, reflected this. However, they chose to walk away.”
Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior members of the royal family back in 2020, and currently reside in Montecito, Calif. Despite no longer working for The Firm, the pair have retained their royal titles.
Meanwhile, Fitzwilliams claims that the Nigeria tour may only have been such a success because Meghan has ancestral roots there.
“Returning on their terms, but without a purpose, would be meaningless,” he declared.
Additionally, the Nigeria tour purportedly enraged King Charles and Prince William.
Royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror that the monarch and his heir were upset that the Sussexes stint in Nigeria had all the trappings of a traditional tour.
“Everything you might expect from an official royal visit was there — the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled,” he said. “Charles is said to be angrier than anyone has ever seen him.”
“Meghan and Harry’s speeches and their whole attitude has been designed to give the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals,” said Quinn, adding that William and King Charles “don’t like that one bit.”
