Family Trip of a Lifetime - Tanzania Safari.

I planned this trip for a year. Based on narrow timeframe it turned out a safari in Tanzania was the best choice for us. Our accommodations were outstanding. Special kudos for the KubuKubu Tented Lodging!! Watching and listening to the lions roar from the deck and our lodge was unbelieveable. Each day was an adventure and each day was better than the day before. If I could give our guide Moses 10 stars out of 5, I would. He was fabulous! Everyone we dealt with was friendly and professional. Highly recommend Kensington Tours.

Cascais Beach and Lisbon City

My tour thru Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon was truly special. Our guide, Anabella was extremely knowledgeable and fun to be with. The hotels chosen for us by Kensington were perfect, first in a beach town with a spa, then to the city with a great location. Every driver was great, everyone was on time (including us). Highly recommend. :)

High caliber company, appropriate pricing, priceless experience

Honestly, words cannot express how amazing my experience was with Kensington Tours from my first trip to Croatia. I took my 18-year-old niece for her high school graduation gift and we spent eight glorious days touring Croatia from top to bottom. We were absolutely stunned at how beautiful the accommodations were, and how meticulously planned the itinerary was from start to finish. Our drivers were professional, our tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly, all of our excursions were perfect and always exceeded our expectations. My travel representative is named Monika. She is now on my speed dial. After only a few communication exchanges during my trip planning exploration, Monika already had a sense of the types of activities my niece and I would enjoy. she completely nailed it! She is very quick at both following up with me and responding to me. She was and continues to be completely available for my travel inquiries. I will also admit that when I first reviewed the itinerary Monika built for me, I had a little sticker shock - but once I realized everything included and the quality of the accommodations and travel logistics- it was completely worth every single penny. There’s no way I could have put the trip together myself with the same level of attention to detail and care as Monika did. I’ve honestly never used a tour company such as this for any of my travels, but I knew the moment I walked into the first hotel on the itinerary that I would never use any other tour company again. This is a high caliber tour company with an affordable price tag and they genuinely care another their clients. I am officially a loyal Kensington Tours client.

Magical Moroccan Adventure

Moe at Kensington arranged the best Moroccan 8 day itinerary. Hotels and nightlife in Marrakesh were top notch. Fez was unforgettable with our personal cooking class and tour of the tile factory! Took a camel ride and enjoyed a luxury night of camping in the desert upon Moe's suggestion. Highly recommend working with this company for your trip to Morocco!

Kensington tours for Kenyan Safari takes away the stress of planning

Kensington accommodated our pickup and dropoff points as well as extra early arrival plans. Tour guides were flexible for city touring, and acted as a concierge service with our own hotel bookings before and after our safari to 3 different wildlife areas. (They also book pre- and post- safari hotel for you if you don't have plans, based upon your flight arrival and departure). The safari guide was quite knowledgeable and worked diligently to ensure our comfort, timing wishes, and safety. We are not major shoppers, so traveling on our own with our private guide ensured our long-haul flight and expense were well spent, meeting 100% of our wishes. (Shoppers, have no fear, you have time for that as well!)

We had an amazing trip to Croatia

We had an amazing trip to Croatia. When I contacted Kensington Tours my representative Dario was so helpful. He put together a fun trip. We went to Zagreb, Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik. We felt we got to see so much. I have used Kensington a few times. It really is a great way to travel. They take care of everything!! When I use them again I will be sure to use Dario. I would have given Kensington a 5…

I would have given Kensington a 5 except for our experience with their air division and our disappointment in the ship on the Nile cruise part of our trip. Our guides were great as were the hotels. Moe, our agent was terrific and I would recommend him to everyone. He was informative and so responsive and helpful; just what you would want.

Egypt May 2024

Our trip to Egypt was fabulous. Moe Sami helped create a perfect itinerary that was tailored to our interests and budget. I had to cancel an extension to Jordan, and he was incredibly helpful. Frank was great in arranging flight and making the changes I needed. The Sonesta St George was a great Nile cruise - the food and staff were wonderful! All of our guides - Randa, Hussein, Marwa - were amazing. They were so knowledgable and helpful. We were blessed to have private guides - we got so much more out of the trip. Hossam was very helpful as our POC in Cairo. Ahmed was our Cairo driver and was great. Our other POCs and drivers were great as well. I would definitely choose to use Kensington again.

If I could give a zero I would

If I could give a zero I would. Very over priced, ( $500 more for airline tickets) no communication,( takes days to get an answer) no confirmation of tours. Nothing is ever their fault. We have answers back from the hotel immediately. They claim no one answers The calls. I finally had to forget Kensington and book it all myself.

Croatia Expert Plans Perfect Trip!

Now, I know I just covered quite a bit and you might be thinking, “What did I just read again???”. So, to give you a little refresher on all that Tahiti has to offer , here are the essential details of each Tahiti tour I discussed.

🏝 PRO TIP : Turn your phone sideways if you are viewing on a mobile device. Changing the orientation so you’re reading on the long side will increase readability!

What to Bring for Tours in Tahiti

Alrighty, so you’ve booked your tour and you may be wondering what you need to pack . This will likely depend on the type of tour you signed up for. But, there are a few items I recommend bringing for pretty much every tour to ensure a pleasant experience.

• 💧 Reusable Water Bottle : Stay hydrated throughout the day by bringing at least a big water bottle or two smaller ones. Tahiti is very humid, so expect to sweat a LOT.
• 🌞 Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen multiple times a day, even if the sun isn’t out. I swear the sun is just more intense in Tahiti, especially when you’re out on the water. And, if you’re going to spend time in the water…please bring reef-safe sunscreen! We want future generations to be able to enjoy the beautiful coral reefs.

✅ 🧴 This is the reef-safe sunscreen we used and I recommend it because I’ve triple-checked the ingredients!

• ☔️ Umbrella or Raincoat: With Tahiti being a tropical destination, you can the weather change on a dime! Come prepared with a travel-sized umbrella or raincoat.
• 💵 Local Cash : Even though most areas in the world are becoming cashless, that’s not exactly the case with French Polynesia. I recommend carrying a bit of XPF currency with you in case you want to buy anything or tip your guide! ( tipping culture is different in French Polynesia!)

Where to Stay in Tahiti

Around Tahiti, there are tons of different housing options, accommodating practically any budget you may have. So, if you’re looking for a place to stay around the island, here are my recommendations.

Low-Cost Stays

• Manaeva Lodge — Family-run place with free shuttles & spa access | ⭐️ 9.3/ 10

Mid-Range Stays

• Vanira Lodge — bungalow style housing near Teahupoo on Tahiti Iti | ⭐️ 9.2 / 10

Fancy Stays

• Also, it’s the only place in Tahiti with overwater bungalows!
• Hilton Hotel Tahiti — Luxury hotel with 3 restaurants, 2 bars, and spa | ⭐️ 9.0 / 10

Getting From the Airport to Your Hotel

As you plan your stay in Tahiti, don’t forget to secure transportation from the airport to your housing accommodations. Some of the hotels above include free shuttles to and from the airport. But, if your hotel doesn’t, I recommend renting a car. Just make sure to reserve your rental car WELL in advance because there is quite a limited supply. My friends and I booked through Hertz and had no problems with the company. Now, if you’re staying on the island of Tahiti only for a day or two and don’t want to go through the hassle of renting a car, I recommend booking separate transportion from the airport to your housing. This is because there’s no Uber or Lyft in French Polynesia and public transportation is not exactly reliable or easy to use. And if you’re thinking of just grabbing a taxi, I would carefully consider the costs. French Polynesia can be quite expensive in some areas, and one of these areas in the price of taxis. You can easily end up paying $25 to go a single mile, which just isn’t worth it. Thus, if you aren’t going the rental car route, I recommend booking private transport between the airport and your hotel. This way you to don’t end up stranded at the airport, waiting for an overpriced taxi. 🫠🙅🏽‍♀️

Tahiti Tours: FAQ

Tahiti is known for its stunningly beautiful landscape, pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and impressive waterfalls . It’s also the gateway to the 118 other islands in French Polynesia, each of which has its own unique culture and experiences!

In my completely biased opinion, Tahiti is well worth visiting. Even if you’ve been to Hawaii, Guam , or some other island destination, it just feels like a completely different world in Tahiti. But, for more information on what to expect, check out this post explaining whether Tahiti is right for you .

Since French Polynesia is such a remote destination, I do recommend staying at least 5 days. And, if you plan on visiting other islands aside from Tahiti, such as going to Moorea or Bora Bora, try to carve out at least 3 days in your schedule for Tahiti! I stayed for 8 days during the dry season , and it was delightful! French Polynesia is easily one of my favorite places in the world…I’m even actively planning a trip back for later this year because I want more time to discover its islands 🙈!

In Tahiti, there are all kinds of activities to partake in: snorkeling, surfing , 4×4 tours, swimming with whales, swimming with sharks, visiting wreck sites in the nearby waters, food tours, walking tours, etc. You’ll find even more excursions available on Moorea !

Again, this depends on what you want to accomplish and what your interests are! But, since I know that’s the answer that most people despise… I would say the best tour is the sea snorkel tour or the Tahiti boat tour !

Founded by the son of local Tahitian legend and pioneer of surfing and boat driving the mythic Teahupoo break (“Timothée”), Teahupoo Adventure offers tours to Teahupoo wave and activities and is a small, local, and family-owned enterprise.

Born in Tahiti, raised playing and surfing in the Teahupoo area, it is natural that making people discover the place where I grew up became my passion. We are now so happy and proud to share a piece of our homeland with you.

Our guide was amazing. Right on time and away we went to the Wave known as Teahupoo. Very cool shots with the video cam. Then we went around the edge of Tahiti where there are NO roads, no cellphone service and no electricity. Talk about living on the edge of nowhere! The water was incredible. Saw a beautiful grotto and we stopped in a lagoon for a swim and had some coconut that was shredded and added to banana for a Tahitian take on a smore. Delish!

This has to be one of the most fun and adventurous trips ever. It would be a loss for anyone to be here and miss this trip. Fun, adventure and great hosts. Make sure to take water sandals and a waterproof camera. Loved every second of it.

Haunui and Maruia offer a very adventurous tour including a hike through the jungle to a hidden cave with a freshwater pool and trips to the base of a waterfall and a hidden ocean pool as well as snorkeling on the reef. They are super nice and exciting tour guides!

From here, continue to the House of Lena Museum, a great example of 19th century middle-class Mykonian life. End the afternoon with a stop at a local tavern for a sampling of Greek “meze”, including various traditional Greek dips and olives, feta cheese, and tomatoes. Enjoy a wine tasting with your guide, and learn about the history and terroir of Greek wines. Conclude this awe-inspiring tour with a return transfer to your cruise ship.

Leaving the city of Rhodes behind, you'll head south along the coastal road, passing several small villages before arriving to Lindos, the most important settlement on the island in antiquity, and where Apostle Paul stopped after he left Jerusalem to preach in Europe. Set out on foot for a walking tour through the labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, and past the colorful courtyards and mosaics for which Lindos is famous. Visit the the Acropolis of Lindos, an ancient citadel overlooking the coast, perched at an impressive 535 feet above sea level. Here you'll have a stunning view over the island, and up-close encounters with the ruins of ancient temples and structures, including that of the Temple of Athena Lindia, dating back to 300 BC. Inside the temple you can see the table of offerings and the base of the cult statue of Athena. After making your way through the archaeological site, you'll conclude your tour with a transfer back to the port in Rhodes.

One of Barcelona's must-see sites, Sagrada Familia is the largest unfinished Roman Catholic church in the entire world.
