Cruising from Port Canaveral

Port Canaveral is a prime departure point for cruises, located roughly halfway down the Florida peninsula on the east coast. Its strategic location allows ships to quickly reach popular ports of call in the Eastern and Western Caribbean and the Bahamas.

Due to its proximity to the Bahamas, many itineraries departing from Port Canaveral often stop at one of the cruise lines’ exclusive private islands.

Popular private island destinations frequently featured on itineraries from Port Canaveral include:

Ground Transportation at Port Canaveral

PORT CANAVERAL SIGN

Given that Port Canaveral is not a major city, your transportation options to and from the area might be limited. Yet, the region is a major tourism destination, and transit options abound.

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is less than an hour away, and the Beach Line Expressway (SR-528) connects the airport to the cruise port.

Cruise Line Shuttle

Each of the major cruise lines offers a shuttle service, which can be expensive compared to other modes of transportation. However, it does ensure timely arrival and departure and is easy to use since cruise line staff will handle your luggage. Pricing may vary, but it tends to cost between $35 and $45 each way, depending on your cruise line.

Rental Cars and Driving

A car rental is your best bet if you prefer to drive yourself or have planned activities before or after your cruise. With plenty of attractions in the area, this is a very popular choice for cruisers who sail out of Port Canaveral.

Remember that renting a car for your entire trip means paying for parking at the port or in a remote lot.

Some car rental companies offer one-way car rentals to and from the airport for an additional drop-off surcharge. However, the ability to rent the car only for your vacation time on land and not while you’re at sea could make the surcharge worth it. It’s likely cheaper than paying to rent and park a car you’re not using.

Independent Shuttle Services

Independent shuttle services offer one-way transportation between the Orlando airport and the cruise port.

It is best to book these in advance, especially if multiple ships are in port. Don’t assume you can find a shuttle to the airport when you walk off the boat. Though possible, it can lead to a stressful start to your journey home. I’ve seen these shuttles available debarkation morning to the airport for as low as $25 per couple.

Ridesharing Services

Another option is ridesharing services, such as Uber or Lyft. If you’re flying into Orlando, the ride to Port Canaveral will cost approximately $60-$100+ one way (depending on traffic).

However, the per-person rate can be reasonable if you split the fare with others in your party. Compare the price to that of a shuttle; it sometimes works out cheaper, plus it’ll only be your group in the vehicle.

Drop-off is right at the terminal. Pickup is at designated areas on Level 2, at each end of the curb; look for signs marked “TNC Pick-Up.”

How Far Is Port Canaveral From the Orlando Airport?

ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 1

Port Canaveral is about a 45-minute drive from Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Consider looking at flights to nearby airports as well. Tampa (TPA) and Jacksonville (JAX) airports are about a two—to three-hour drive from Orlando but often offer cheaper flights.

Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) is another option to consider. It’s located about 40 minutes south of Port Canaveral and can offer more affordable airfare, especially for those looking for a closer alternative to MCO.

Sanford International Airport (SFB) is also around an hour from Port Canaveral and is known for offering low-cost flights with Allegiant Air.

Port Canaveral Parking Options

PORT CANAVERAL PARKING TERMINAL

On-Site Parking:

  • Cost : Parking at cruise terminals costs $17 per day, plus tax. This includes the day of arrival and departure, making it a convenient but more expensive option for those who prefer proximity to their ship.

Off-Site Parking Options:

Several off-site parking facilities near Port Canaveral offer more affordable rates and include complimentary shuttle services to the cruise terminals:

  • Park N Cruise is about 3 miles from the port and charges $12.99 daily. They offer discounts to veterans, public service workers, AAA members, and AARP members.
  • GoPort offers a unique package in which parking is free, but you pay for the shuttle to the port. Rates start at $60 for a week-long cruise, about $7.50 daily.
  • Cruise-time  Parking is 8.5 miles from the port. It costs $10 per day and includes a complimentary shuttle service.
  • Park Port Canaveral : This facility is about 3 miles from the port and charges $12.85 daily if you reserve in advance. They provide a free shuttle to and from the cruise terminals.

When Should I Arrive at the Cruise Port?

CARNIVAL LIBERTY

You should arrive at the port about 60 minutes before your assigned boarding time. This extra time allows you to:

  • Find Parking: If you’re driving, this gives you time to locate a parking spot at the terminal or nearby off-site parking.
  • Check Luggage: Drop off any checked luggage with porters before heading to the terminal.
  • Complete Security and Health Screenings: Proceed through necessary security checks and any health screenings your cruise line requires.

Note: If parking at an off-site lot, add additional time for the shuttle ride from the parking lot to the cruise terminal.

Boarding Deadline: All passengers must be on board no later than 90 minutes before the ship’s scheduled departure time. This ensures enough time for all pre-departure procedures, such as mandatory safety drills.

This is especially true if you are sailing one of the giant mega-ships in Port Canaveral, such as Utopia of the Seas or Carnival Jubilee .

Hotels Near Port Canaveral

Several major hotel brands have convenient locations close to Port Canaveral, offering a range of accommodations to suit different budgets and preferences:

  • Popular options such as Hilton , Marriott , Hampton Inn , Holiday Inn , and Radisson are within a mile or two of the cruise terminals. These hotels typically offer nightly rates ranging from $150 to $350 , depending on the season and room availability.
  • Many hotels provide amenities like complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and shuttle services to the cruise terminals, making them convenient for travelers.
  • If you prefer to stay at a beachfront location, you’ll find hotels and vacation rentals starting about two miles from Port Canaveral. Options include major hotel chains and private rentals, with prices starting at around $175 per night .

Stay and Cruise Packages: If you’re driving to the port, inquire whether your hotel offers a “stay and cruise” package. This package often includes a one-night stay, parking for the duration of your cruise, and shuttle service to and from the cruise terminal, providing a convenient and cost-effective option for cruise passengers.

If you have time before your boarding appointment or shuttle, enjoy a meal at one of the many waterfront restaurants near the terminals:

  • Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill : Known for its delicious food at reasonable prices, Fishlips offers scenic views of the cruise ships from its second-floor deck.
  • Grills Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar : A lively spot for fresh seafood, live music, and cold drinks, Grills is perfect for enjoying the sail away experience with a great port view.

Visit Exploration Tower

Head to the Exploration Tower for panoramic views of Port Canaveral and the Atlantic Ocean . Located on the west side of the port property, this tower features interactive exhibits, a gift shop, and a top-floor observation deck offering spectacular views.

Nature and Parks

Manatee Sanctuary Park is a peaceful 10-acre park just minutes from the port. The park often hosts its namesake manatees, turtles, seabirds, and sandhill cranes. It’s a great spot to relax, take a walk along the waterfront, or let kids play on the playground.

Cocoa Beach and Shopping

Best Sail Away Spot at Port Canaveral

CARNIVAL MAGIC 764 1

Many folks like to watch the cruise ships sail away, whether they have friends or family on board. It’s truly a majestic experience as these huge ships glide through the water out to sea.

Port Canaveral has considered this by constructing the Jetty Park and Pier just east of the port area along the seafront.  The park’s admission fee is $16 per car, and it includes boardwalk access, sandy beaches, and showers.

You’ll also find parking areas, a bar and grill, and a long pier jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean, which is the perfect spot to watch cruise ships sail away.

Port Canaveral cruises: A guide to cruising from the Orlando area

Megan duBois

Sailing out of Port Canaveral might not be as picturesque as cruising from PortMiami , but don't underestimate the experience. Lucky passengers might witness a rocket launch from the neighboring NASA complex or see dolphins playing in the wake as the ships sail past the shoreline of Jetty Park on the way out to sea.

And while you might be more familiar with the Miami and Fort Lauderdale departure ports, you are as likely to sail from the Orlando-area, Central Florida port as you are from one of the East Coast ports. In 2023, the bustling port brought in 6.8 million cruise passengers , served as the home port for 13 ships and scheduled 906 ship calls.

From Port Canaveral, you can sail to the Bahamas , the Caribbean , Bermuda and even across the Atlantic on cruises of two to 14 nights. Seven major cruise lines currently sail from Port Canaveral: Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises and MSC Cruises.

The port is (or soon will be) home to some of the newest and most popular cruise ships, including Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas and new Utopia of the Seas and Disney Cruise Line's Disney Wish and new Disney Treasure .

Getting to the port is easy as it's accessible from Interstate 95 and close to three airports — though it's nearly an hour's drive from Orlando International Airport (MCO) . Whether you want to overnight by the airport or close to the port, you will find a range of hotels to suit every budget and loyalty program affiliation.

Airports near Port Canaveral cruise port

Three airports serve the Port Canaveral cruise port. The most popular is Orlando International Airport (MCO), which is about 50 minutes away. Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) is also about 50 minutes away, and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) is about an hour from the port.

Most major airlines, including Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, American Airlines, Air Canada, British Airways, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines, fly into MCO.

If you're flying into MLB, current carriers include Allegiant Air, American and Delta.

At SFB, the main option is Allegiant.

Depending on which airport you're flying into and which airline you've booked, you might be able to cut costs with companion passes. Southwest offers this deal to travelers who earn 135,000 qualifying points or take 100 qualifying one-way flights in a calendar year. Those traveling with Delta can also get a companion ticket with a few of the Delta and American Express cobranded credit cards .

Because no one likes waiting around in a chaotic airport terminal after a cruise, you might want to bring a credit card that provides you with lounge access. MCO offers seven different lounges, including a Priority Pass lounge called Club MCO. Priority Pass membership starts at $99, or you can get access as a travel perk from a credit card such as the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve® .

American Airlines passengers can access The Admirals Club with a Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® (see rates and fees ), which includes a complimentary Admirals Club lounge pass. The Delta Sky Club is open to travelers with paid lounge access via a subscription or one-time paid visit, or those who have select Delta-branded American Express cards.

How to get to the Port Canaveral cruise port

norwegian cruise port canaveral address

Whether you're headed straight from the airport or from a pre-cruise hotel, you have several options on how to get to the Port Canaveral cruise port. If you are headed straight to Port Canaveral from the airport, be sure to give yourself at least three hours. Your plane should land no later than 10 a.m. to ensure you can claim any luggage, get your ride and get to the port before the boarding time ends in the afternoon without feeling rushed and flustered.

Cruise line transfers

Many cruise lines that sail from Port Canaveral offer transfer services from the airport or a hotel directly to the terminal. Talk to your travel agent to be sure it's part of your overall travel package, and if it's not, ask if you can buy the transfers individually.

For example, Disney Cruise Line can offer ground transportation from local airports to the embarkation port and back to the airport when the cruise is over. The transfer is a per-person flat fee that must be added to your cruise reservation in advance through the Disney Cruise Line app. The round-trip cost is $90 per person. If you only need one-way service, you have to call Disney Cruise Line to reserve.

Related: Should I book my flight through my cruise line?

Independent airport shuttles

Cruisers looking for a transfer to and from the airport, hotel or cruise terminal can do so with independent airport shuttles. Consider companies like Airport Canaveral , where shared shuttle rides in a minibus start at $20 per person and a private van starts at $125 a ride for up to five people. If you need more room for larger parties and still want a private ride, you can rent a private Sprinter shuttle starting at $220. Airport Canaveral currently serves MCO and MLB.

Prices for these services are one-way.

You'll want to consider a few criteria when deciding between a cruise transfer or an independent shuttle. The first is how big your party is. Cruise-branded transfers are often per-person costs, while individual transfers are one price for a set amount of customers.

For example, if four people are taking a Disney cruise, the total cost for a cruise-run transfer would be $360 for round-trip service from the airport to the terminal and back to the airport at the end of your trip. For the same group, Airport Canaveral can supply a private van for $300 round-trip (the price for up to five people).

It often makes more financial sense for solo travelers or small groups of two or three to take a cruise line transfer, but larger groups can save money with independent transfers.

Beyond party size and total cost, consider time and accessibility. On a cruise-run transfer, you might have to wait for an entire busload of guests to arrive and get loaded onto the bus before departing the airport. With a private transfer, you can leave when you're ready and not have to wait for anyone else.

Additionally, most of the cruise-run transfers are on large buses, which might not be the most accessible option for folks who have trouble with stairs. If you're traveling with someone with mobility challenges, a private transfer can offer more flexibility in the type of car or shuttle you book.

Independent car services

Travelers who want a private transfer can also book an independent car or van service. Prices for car services from MCO to Port Canaveral can start around $200 for a one-way trip in a luxury car that can accommodate three people. If you need a larger vehicle, a van or SUV can start around $225 and has seats for up to six people.

Orlando Luxury Transportation is a highly rated black car service that offers airport-cruise port connections. You can book a luxury SUV from MCO to Port Canaveral for five people for around $230 or a Sprinter van seating up to 14 people for around $300.

Taxis and ride-hailing services

Getting a taxi to Port Canaveral is fairly easy. Taxi stands are on Level One of Terminals A and B at MCO. If you're flying into the new Terminal C, curbside arrivals are on Level Six.

Four cab companies serve MCO: Diamond Cab Company, Quick Cab, Town & Country Transport and Mears Taxi Yellow/City Cab. The cabs can carry up to nine passengers and charge the same fare no matter how many people are in the car. Fares are determined by a meter, but the average fare to Port Canaveral is about $115.

For a ride-hailing service like Uber or Lyft , head to Level Two at Terminals A and B or Level Six at Terminal C. The average route price is $69 for an Uber X and $94 for an Uber XL from MCO to Port Canaveral. Be aware that it can occasionally be challenging to get a driver to actually show up because some don't want to drive all the way to Port Canaveral from the airport if they think they won't be able to get a fare back to MCO.

Hotel shuttles

Many of the hotels near Port Canaveral offer shuttle service to the port. Free transfers or rental car parking can be a challenge to find, so contact the property to inquire about options before making a reservation. Hotel shuttle transfer costs can vary based on the location and type of hotel, but many cost around $10 per person.

Port Canaveral cruise port parking

norwegian cruise port canaveral address

On-site parking

Port Canaveral has a mix of parking garages and surface lots where you can park at your assigned terminal. On embarkation day, the parking facilities are open starting at 10 a.m. Parking costs $17 per day, plus tax, for standard vehicles and recreational vehicles. All payments are made with credit cards, and cash is not accepted. If you are parking at the Terminal 3 parking garage, E-PASS and SunPass are also accepted as payment.

You can drop your luggage off with the porters at the terminal before parking. Security makes the rounds through garages and surface lots daily.

Park-and-cruise

If you're driving to the port, but want a cheaper alternative to parking on-site, consider a park-and-cruise option. These lots offer secure parking with a cruise shuttle for a set fee.

Park N Cruise Port Canaveral offers a parking lot 2 miles from the port for $10.95 per day. The parking fee includes a free shuttle for up to four people, and additional passengers cost $5 per person. Shuttles depart every 30 minutes for the terminal.

If you plan on spending the night at a nearby hotel, look for ones that offer a park-and-cruise package that includes a hotel stay and parking for the duration of your cruise. The Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral offers a "Park, Stay, & Go" deal where you can book a room for one night and get included parking for up to seven nights, plus shuttle service to Port Canaveral.

No matter where you park, give yourself plenty of time to get to the terminal. For convenience, park at one of the on-site lots or garages. To save some money, check in to a nearby hotel or park in an off-site lot.

It's about 15 minutes away and a straight shot down state Road A1A from the cruise terminals. Since Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach are on the same barrier island, you'll find everything from beachfront hotels to basic accommodations near the cruise terminals, though you'll have more options the deeper into Cocoa Beach you're willing to travel.

For those who want to or need to stay in Orlando because of a late arriving flight or better points options, there are some good options near the airport in the cool Lake Nona neighborhood.

Hilton hotels near Port Canaveral

Two hotels that offer clean stays and quick overnights are the Homewood Suites by Hilton Cape Canaveral-Cocoa Beach and the Hilton Garden Inn Cocoa Beach Oceanfront (50,000 and 46,000 points per night, respectively).

Both are in convenient locations about 10 minutes from the cruise terminal and are walkable to nearby restaurants. The Homewood Suites by Hilton offers free breakfast , while the Hilton Garden Inn has breakfast for a fee. Either way, don't fill up on hotel pancakes when there's an incredible lunch waiting for you on the ship.

Marriott hotels near Port Canaveral

If you're traveling with a large or extended family, consider staying at the Springhill Suites Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach (32,000 points per night, so you could use a Marriott 35k free night certificate on some dates of the year).

The all-suite hotel has a port shuttle that costs $10.80 per person one-way, and you must call the hotel to reserve a transfer. Additionally, the hotel offers complimentary breakfast to get your day going.

Another all-suite option is the TownePlace Suites Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach (31,000 points per night). The new hotel offers free breakfast and has two bars, including one out by the pool so adults can enjoy a cocktail while kids swim.

If you're planning to spend a few days in Orlando before your cruise, consider staying at the JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes (42,000 points per night). The 500-acre property is just a short drive to the theme parks for families but far enough away that it feels like an adult retreat if you don't have kids. The resort just completed a multimillion-dollar renovation, including upgrading all of the rooms and suites and adding a new water park and poolside burger bar.

Hyatt hotels near Port Canaveral

If your flight into MCO is late, consider the Hyatt Place Orlando Airport for a pre-cruise stay (9,500 points per night).

The hotel offers free breakfast, a pool and digital check-in, the latter of which is great for late incoming flights. After a good night's rest, hop on the hotel's free airport shuttle to get a ride to Port Canaveral from MCO, which will be easier to book than a ride from the hotel itself.

Non-points hotels

The Cocoa Beach area is rife with boutique hotels and accommodations that don't participate in the three major loyalty programs.

One of our favorites is The Inn at Cocoa Beach, which is right on the water. The inn has 50 rooms and is adults-only. The hotel offers a full breakfast, complimentary wine and cheese hour, beach chairs, a pool and free on-site parking.

If you're looking for a high-end hotel in Orlando to spend the night, consider the Lake Nona Wave Hotel in the heart of the booming Lake Nona neighborhood. The hotel is only 6 miles from the airport and offers luxurious suites that start at 875 square feet, with separate living room and bedroom sleeping quarters, plus a whole bath and half bath. The hotel also has one Michelin-recommended restaurant, Bacan, where the whole truffle roasted chicken is not to be missed.

Restaurants near Port Canaveral cruise port

If you need to grab breakfast or dinner during your pre-cruise stay, you'll find plenty of dining options in Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral, including beachfront seafood and great burgers. State Road A1A and state Road 520 are the main routes through the city, and that's where you'll find most of the restaurants.

For a great drink right off state Road A1A, try Ellie Mae's Tiki Bar, where you can score half-off cocktails every Wednesday through Friday from 2 to 5 p.m.

If you want to wave at departing cruise ships before or after you set sail yourself, head to one of the port-facing restaurants on Glen Cheek Drive. Most of the restaurants have spacious outdoor patios where you can dine and bid bon voyage to the ships as you eagerly await the start of your own vacation at sea. A local favorite is Seafood Atlantic, which has been working with local fishermen to bring in the freshest seafood in the area since 1984.

Things to do in Port Canaveral before or after your cruise

norwegian cruise port canaveral address

Since Port Canaveral is right in the middle of the state of Florida, the cruise port can be a central hub for an extended stay. If you only have a few days to extend your vacation, here are the best things you must do.

Explore the beaches

Florida is known for its beautiful beaches. If you're looking for a sandy shore right next to Port Canaveral, Cocoa Beach is the spot. If you're willing to travel a bit farther, Daytona Beach has plenty of shoreline. Just be sure to skip the beach during the busy spring break season since both areas are known for an influx of college parties.

Related: What to do on Florida's Space Coast when you need a break from the theme parks

Hit a theme park or 2

Going to an Orlando theme park is a rite of passage for many families with kids. If you're cruising out of Port Canaveral, consider adding a few days to the front of your trip to explore Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort (featuring The Wizarding World of Harry Potter ). Both have multiple parks, on-site hotels and transportation options to and from the airport. If your family wishes to explore Disney, you can also book transfers to and from your Disney hotel to Port Canaveral.

NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Just 30 minutes from Port Canaveral is the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where you can learn about NASA and space exploration. Don't miss taking the bus tour of the facility, which is about two hours long and includes a stop at the Apollo/Saturn V Center.

If you think rockets are cool, you will want to check the rocket launch schedule for Cape Canaveral before leaving home. If you're lucky, you might be in Port Canaveral or Cocoa Beach to watch a launch. Depending on the time of day, you might already be on your cruise ship, in which case, the entire ship will start to shake as a rocket lifts off.

If you're not on your ship, the best places to watch are either from the beaches or the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier.

Shopping near Port Canaveral cruise port

If you left something at home by accident or need to stock up on supplies like bottled water for a cruise, you'll want to head to one of the major shopping centers near Port Canaveral.

The Avenue Viera is about 30 minutes from the port. The open-air mall has retailers like Kohl's, Belk and Old Navy if you need to grab a new outfit or swimsuit. The Merritt Square Mall is about 15 minutes from Port Canaveral and has large department stores like JCPenney and Sears, plus specialty stores.

If you need to bring snacks or water onto the ship, you'll find a Publix grocery store about 10 minutes from the port. You'll want to familiarize yourself with your cruise line's policies regarding carrying on prepackaged snacks, soda, alcohol and bottled water, as many limit what you can bring.

If you're looking for a souvenir shop, Cocoa Beach's North Atlantic Avenue is dotted with cute places to find T-shirts and tchotchkes. Favorites include Alvin's Island, The Funky Mermaid Cocoa Beach and Ron Jon Surf Shop.

Very disappointed in this cruise line. Booked a 7-day cruise to Alaska well in advance, rep inform us if prices were reduced, we will receive a credit for the difference. Well 50 days now before cruising and now they're singing a different song. We have paid well over $3,600.00 including our protection and excursions. Booked my brother the same exact cruise to accompany us and now it has been reduced down over $260.00. I called 08/30 and sat on the phone with Rep: (S) for over an hour to be informed they can't do anything for us. Stating if we were to cancel and rebooked, we are subject to cancellation fees. I didn't ask to cancel, asked for a difference in a credit on our account now that we can use towards excursions or something else. Honestly, I think she had me on hold for over an hour hoping I would hang up. First time and last time I cruise with Norwegian. It's pretty sad for them to give you false info in order to get you to book then lie later on. Very disappointed new cruiser on Norwegian (Bliss)

I have been on multiple NCL cruise ships: NCL Breakaway, NCL Escape (2x), NCL Bliss and now the latest ship, the NCL Prima. I have traveled out of Port Canaveral on Disney, they have the check in process down. NCL, The Prima is a larger ship so the check in took a little longer but we have no complaints. What I've noticed over the years, NCL has been listening to their customers. From my first NCL cruise in 2010, I can see there have been changes and its mostly directed for a more pleasurable experience. The latest ship, the Norwegian Prima has the largest cabin I've been to on a cruise line. The updated bathroom is evident on the new ship. Pools? There is the standard pool along with the addition of infinity pools. The restaurants are also updated, there is no set time to dine. When you're ready to dine? Come on down! I'm not a buffet guy, I like to have my breakfast in one of the main dining rooms. If you want the buffett, its open early and closes late. The specialty restaurants are very good. I ordered a broiled lobster at the seafood restaurant that would rival any New York City restaurant. **I must point this out to anyone who cruises and goes to a speciality restaurant. The speciality restaurants are high end restaurants. Are you tracking? I know you're on vacation, do not wear shorts to dinner! I have seen someone be turned away on this cruise for wearing shorts. Don't be that guy, wear slacks or go to the buffet. If you enjoy going to different ports, I have to give a shout out to their private island at Great Stirrup Cay. Norwegian Cruise line invested heavily in this port. I would rather spend two days at this port than going to Cozemel. Beautiful sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It was a joy to just relax, I even slept for 90 minutes on the beach chair! Did I burn? I'm Italian, I came off that beach looking like a bronze statue. I highly recommend the drink package. It's so nice to walk up to any bar, grab two pina coladas with a dark rum floater and sip my drink in the sun. During dinner at any restaurant, I can order wine while dining. At the cigar bar, I discovered a new Scotch, The Macallan Quest Single Malt Scotch. Mmm mm! That's right, I said cigar lounge. I brought a few stogies, talked to a cool bunch of smokers and just chilled. The shows? I have seen some amazing shows over the years, from Jersey Boys to the latest Donna Summer musical. You have to make reservations before you cruise! I loved the Price is Right in the main theatre, lots of fun to see. Parking is easy breeze with no reservation needed. NCL, it was a pleasure to cruise on the Prima and to sail out of Port Canaveral.

Staff at the Port were fantastic! We had no issues getting on or off the ship at the port. We were even able to bypass the long line because a staff member walked us the bough the priority line to get our luggage.

Crusade Spring Break week 2004. #1* I don't let little things ruin my cruise!!!!! Despite the ship being full capacity!!!!!!!!! The staff was great, the room steward always kept our room sparkling! Our meals were all above and beyond, we tes our pool time around others' schedules and found the pool available as often as we wanted. We took our time and met other people and had the time of our lives. Booked two other cruises with NCL

Norwegian Escape 7-Day Caribbean from Orlando (Port Canaveral) February 23 - March 2, 2024 Several things rendered this the worst cruise I have ever taken. 1. I feel we were excessively nickled and dimed during the planning process. Everything was an extra charge. 2. There is a strong smoke order anywhere near the casino (floor above, floor below, and on either side. 3. We upgraded our cabins to be able to get 2 specialty restaurant meals. That upgrade also gave us access to early reservations at specialty restaurants. This turned out to be a bait and switch however. We called on the first day permissible to make reservations but since NCL only allows early reservations to 25% of each restaurant's capacity, we were only able to secure one reservation (all booked) and only ate at one specialty restaurant. The upgrade was not worth what we received. 4. We saw 2 shows in the Syd Norman theater. Both were great but one had standing room only so we stood for the entire show (plus the 30 minutes prior to the start of the show). We were unable to get in to see another show (even though we showed up 45 minutes early). 5. Although we tried several times, we could never get into the piano bar. There was always a large line of people out the door waiting to get in. 6. Both pools were so crowded that chairs were unavailable. Chairs saved with towels or other effects with no one on them for hours. 7. Even though we paid for the unlimited Wi-Fi, we still had to pay an additional $9.95 so that we could text others in our group that didn't get the upgrade. I feel NCL should include that feature in the expensive upgrade. 8. Prior to sailing, we purchased customized magnets with our name and ship name for our doors and were mandated to remove them as they were a fire hazard (we have always done this on other cruise lines). 9. Meals were very mediocre and consistently chaotic with staff running around like ants without direction. Breakfasts were especially disorganized, tables not always stocked (no butter, no salt), toasts/English muffins cold. The good 1. The live music in the Manhattan room is a nice touch, but was too loud to hold conversations at dinner. 2. Rooms were nice with decent storage space. 3. The bath room was a nice size with a double sink and vanity, storage and a nice shower. The shower operation was a bit difficult to figure out but once understood, was nice with multiple shower heads at different heights. 4. The shows we were able to get into were very well done and entertaining. 5. The Escape Theater is a large, nice venue. It's rising elevation makes it easy to see over the people in front of you.

I love Norwegian cruise line. The entertainment is so good compared to other lines. The food is also top notch. So many food options and specialty restaurants. The service is also amazing.

I cruised on the Norwegian Escape on December 16, 2023. Although this was not my first cruise on Norwegian, it will be my last! I was disappointed with so many aspects of the service provided, that I'm sure I'll forget to mention something. 1. The guest-to-crew ratio was not conducive to great service. I had a party of 7 and meals in the main dining room were at least 2 hours for each meal. We only had one attendant servicing our table. Therefore, there were very long lag times between courses, water was not replenished often and drinks from the bar were slow. 2. As part of our Free at Sea, we received WiFi. That was a joke! The WiFi package only allowed you 150 minutes. However, those minutes were used up quickly because NO instructions were telling you to turn off the WiFi when not using it so that the minutes would not continue to accumulate. I ended up having to purchase another package. 3. I purchased a spa treatment that was a special on board. It was for a 1 1/2-hour massage/facial. A couple of others in my group also purchased the same package. I and one of my travel mates had an appointment at 4:30pm. We were sent to the wait area for our technician to come get us. My travel mate's technician came shortly after we got to the room. A short time later I was told my technician was running late and would be there shortly. Two others in my group who had a 5pm appointment joined me in the waiting room as they waited for their technician. Finally, at approximately 4:50 pm, my technician came to get me. She took me to the treatment area discussed my services and left me to get undressed for my massage. When I last looked at my watch before taking it off, it was 4:59pm. The technician came in and performed my massage. When she said my time had ended, she left me to get dressed. I looked at my watch and saw that it was 6:01pm. I didn't think anything of it then, but realized when I got dressed and left, that I was short 30 minutes of my treatment! I guess the technician was making up the time for HER BEING LATE? The next day I went to the spa to discuss this problem and was begrudgingly offered a day pass to the thermal room. However, because it was an at-sea day, I was told I would only be able to access it during off-peak hours. 8am - 11am and then 8pm - 10pm. These may not be the exact times, but close enough. I did not go because the times did not suit my schedule. 4. The excursion in Jamaica was TERRIBLE!!! We purchased the Dunn's River Falls/Bamboo Beach VIP trip ($149). The trip was to include time at Dunn's River Falls followed by time at Bamboo Beach which included drinks and meals. The excursion was to begin at 9:30am. We were instructed to meet in one of the theaters on the ship. This was the meeting point for most excursions and, therefore very crowded. We were called slowly by excursion to leave to go outside to meet the transportation. We did not get called until after 10am. At that time we were sent outside where numerous people waiting for other excursions were all standing around. It was exceptionally unorganized once outside when trying to determine what line was for your particular excursion. Everyone was counting on the people around them to figure out what line to stand in. After standing at close quarters with everyone around me in an enclosed waiting area, I felt claustrophobic and waited outside. It was not approximately 10:45am. When I asked why the a long delay to get going, I was told they were waiting for the bus which was stuck in heavy traffic. I would have thought the bus would have been waiting at the pier at the departure time. Frustrated, I found a Norwegian staff member to ask how to cancel the excursion and get a refund. He didn't have a definitive answer and somewhat indicated that we would not get a refund at this point. I explained our frustration and gave the names of all in my party (which he wrote down) so that I could address the issue with Guest Services once back on board. The bus finally arrived, and we were on our way AFTER 11am! This delayed departure meant we had already lost over 1 1/2 hours of beach time. We got to Dunn's River Falls and were only able to spend 45 minutes there. Once back on the bus and the long ride to Bamboo Beach, we found it once again unorganized. We waited outside the entry for our guide to get admissions for our group. We were ushered to the section of the beach where our chairs were set up. The food was served by 2 individuals carrying out plates to where we sat in our chairs. Again, with no organization to the pecking order for service. Not sure if we even got all the courses that came out. The watered-down cocktails were also served, which resulted in you spending money to get a REAL drink, not the fruit punch with MAYBE a DROP of alcohol in it. My group finally got their meals 20 minutes before it was time to get back on the bus to return to the ship. By the way, we were late getting back to the ship that was waiting to depart Jam

We just finished a 12 day transatlantic cruise from Port Canaveral to Lisbon on the Getaway. Pros: Nice balcony stateroom for the money Our stateroom steward was fantastic! The kids clubs were good for keeping our boys entertained for a while each day Thermal Spa (extra$) is very relaxing and a nice refuge from the crowds Meals at the specialty restaurants (extra$) were excellent Cons: Food in the complementary restaurants was mediocre at best Internet speed and access was atrocious. DO NOT UPGRADE TO IT. The way they manage the disembarkation for excursions is incredibly disorganized and confusing. Plan extra time just to figure out what they expect you to do. If you have children, there is no way to place a cap on their spending. Mine rang up $300 in overpriced arcade games (again, extra $) Notes on cost: Even after you pay for the cruise, they tack on a $20 per-guest per-day service charge. I'm sure they mention it somewhere when you purchase the ticket, but be aware of that if you consider sailing with them. All the ship-board charges we racked up almost doubled the cost of the original tickets.

Photo of Amanda W.

After spending thousands of dollars, months of preparation, and traveling across the country to get here, they denied me sailing because I had 2 shots not 3 of the Pfizer vaccine. I also had proof of a negative COVID test within 24hrs. No refund as they stated it was my responsibility to know I need all 3. Extremely rude staff, wouldn't help, simply pushed a paper with a number to call, which also didn't help. Wouldn't give their supervisors information to us. They were extremely condescending, cold, and had no idea what the other staff were saying or doing. Additionally, on the site it says the vaccine won't be required to travel in less than 2 weeks. It's a technicality. So disappointing. This line and the staff have no empathy. I am heartbroken over this.
