With the help of expert and traveler input, U.S. News determined that these tours in Ireland (and a few in Northern Ireland) are the best on offer. While the tours take differing approaches, ranging from boats and buses to horse-drawn carriages, they all have guides well-versed in local history and lore. Indeed, the guides' storytelling skills are often cited as highlights of these outings, which may last as little as an hour or as long as an entire day.

Price: Adults from 85 euros (about $92); kids from 42.50 euros (about $46) Duration: 12 hours

Blarney Castle, which dates back to the 1400s, ranks as one of the most popular attractions in Ireland. The medieval stronghold, which stands approximately 5 miles west of Cork, houses the legendary Blarney Stone – purported to bestow the gift of eloquence on those who kiss it. In addition to visiting the famed castle, this tour stops at another highly popular destination, the Rock of Cashel and its cluster of medieval buildings, including Cormac's Chapel (which contains Romanesque frescoes) and the Hall of Vicars. The trip also includes a visit to Cahir Castle, a 13th-century defensive structure constructed on an island on the River Suir. Those who've taken the tour report enjoying the impressive castles, as well as the guides' amusing commentary. Many reviewers said this was a long day, but worth it to see and hear more about Irish history.

Tours depart daily from Dublin at 6:50 a.m. and return to central Dublin around 7:30 p.m. Irish Day Tours offers a variety of day trips, including excursions to Wicklow, Connemara and more.

Another highlight is the Ladies View (named in honor of Queen Victoria and her retinue) at the Killarney Lakes. Tour-takers sing the praises of the witty, attentive guides and the many photo stops. Others were pleased they opted for tour instead of trying to drive the Ring of Kerry themselves.

Britain & Ireland Tours

Why not add England and Scotland to your Irish tour experience? A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compare and contrast these unique but interconnected cultures. Experience a rich and overlapping history, told from three singular perspectives. Three distinct outlooks, three separate national identities — one friendly welcome. Compare the royalty and pageantry of London with the very different majesty you will find in the rolling glens, lochs and highlands of Scotland. Of course, we think that Ireland holds the crown, with a landscape, a culture and a heritage that puts the Emerald Isle among the jewels of all European travel.

Our small groups guarantee Never more than 26 guests per tour

We always keep our tour group sizes small. That's because we want every guest to get the comfort, space and service they deserve. Although many other companies squeeze in groups of up to 50, even the largest of our tour packages are strictly limited to just 26 guests. That leaves empty seats on the coaches. So why do we limit our tours to such small group sizes? Here are six reasons.

Superior Service

Guests consistently list our small group sizes as a top reason why they would book with us again. See our reviews...

More focus on you

With a smaller group, our tour guides have more time to get to know you and your interests.

We deliberately leave empty seats on our coaches, so you can relax and spread out.

Experience each attraction up-close and personal, with more time to ask questions and see what interests you.

Speedier Check-Ins

Compared with many of our rivals, our smaller group sizes make checking in and out of the hotels a breeze.

More Relaxed Pace

Experience Ireland at your own pace. No rushing to keep up and no waiting around for large groups to assemble.

Editor’s Take

Things to Look for in Ireland Travel Reviews

Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary. Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.

When reading Ireland tour reviews, it’s important to bear in mind that it’s very common for not all meals or activities to be included in the base price of the trip . This is beneficial for travelers who enjoy having some free time, and like having control over their spending. However it can be a bit affronting for travelers who would prefer to have all activities and meals included, which means a higher upfront cost.

Negatively reviewed Ireland tours mostly lament that too much time was spent on the bus and not enough time at each destination. This is especially noticeable for tours that also visit Scotland, England, and Wales.

There is a lot to see and sometimes tour itineraries for the UK can feel stretched. Be sure to read the itinerary thoroughly to make sure the tour spends enough time in the places you’re most excited to see.

Favorable reviews for Ireland  often comment on the tour guides ability to bring history alive, and the chance to enjoy local Irish culture in an authentic way.

See what some of our customers had to say about their Irish experience. It’ll help you understand what to expect. Then, when you’re ready, please get in touch and we’ll start planning your tailor-made adventure.

“Just a quick note to thank you, Eva, and our amazing Colin , for a remarkable and memorable journey touring Ireland. We thank Colin, for making our trip absolute perfection!

First, let me say that Colin was just incredible. He made us feel like family. And now we are! Colin took great care of meeting all our needs. And of course, answering a million questions I had (LOL.)

Our accommodations and service were superb, and the beauty of Ireland was astonishing. Finally, we do plan to see the rest of Ireland (with Colin off course) and perhaps visit you in Donegal.”

“Words can't do it justice. We had an amazing time. Eamon was great! We all had an emotional goodbye when he dropped us off at the Castle.”

“Let me say right out that the journey you prepared was fantastic trip in virtually every respect... my daughter said it well as “exceeded all expectations!”

“Thanks Shaun. Fantastic trip!! Lifelong memories for us and the kids.”

“We loved every single moment and Kieran was not only an amazing guide and driver, but he went above and beyond to make sure our trip was so special. He knew lots of little things to see and places to go that are not in the guidebooks and this made our trip very unique. We couldn't thank him enough for all he did for us and his calm, patient, gracious nature. We truly enjoyed his company throughout our trip.

Thank you and Kieran for giving us this unbelievable experience on the beautiful Isle of Ireland. We didn't want to leave and we will be back (Gary wants to get a golf trip together) and will contact you when we have dates.”

“I just wanted you to know how much we (myself and my friend, Kate) enjoyed our time in your beautiful country in May. Everything was perfectly arranged, and our driver/guide extraordinaire Eamon was absolutely wonderful. He’s incredibly reliable, professional and knowledgeable, which made the journey so much better. Believe me, when I return to Ireland I will be in touch with your business and certainly insist on making plans around his availability. Thank you again for perfecting our trip with your service.”

“Our Driver, Eugene O'Brien, was an excellent match for us. He was very professional and helpful in all aspects of the trip. Very clean and well-presented car and Eugene has a very diverse and entertaining collection of music that kept us entertained on the longer drives. A bit of a squeeze getting all our luggage in (3 x 20kg check-in bags and two x 10kg carry-on bags) but Eugene managed it all with no fuss. Eugene is a great guy and quite unflappable and had some great local suggestions for 'secret' spots to visit (e.g. the Ringfinnan Garden of Remembrance at Kinsale ... a stunning must see site). We could not have enjoyed our time with Eugene any more than we did or recommend him more highly.

It is now clear that although we visited many of our highlights we need to do another tour (maybe 2025) to spend more time in a few areas. Perryville House in Kinsale was a favourite and we'd use that for a base to do SE Ireland and Tipperary on the next visit. Also reckon we could easily spend another day in Dublin, 2 days in Derry and surrounds, another day in Belfast and see more of the NW area and some of Central Highlands. Could not have fitted more into this trip and it's clear that we need to return to pick up specifics that we missed this time.”

"Before any more time goes by, I want to thank you for planning such a lovely trip for Edward and myself. There were many highlights of the trip, but the walking tour we had with Ronan was outstanding. We learned so much about the history of Ireland and it made our trip to Kilmainham Goal more meaningful. We are in love with Irish brown bread and searching for recipes to re-create at home."

“Thank you very much for arranging and conducting our wonderful inaugural trip to Ireland. The organization, accommodations, sights and the people were all wonderful. We felt safe, comfortable and well taken care of. Bill Coyne was the perfect shepherd. He was attentive, kind and funny. He is a wise and wonderful man and we miss him already.”

"I am dropping a note to give you a huge THANK YOU for the amazing trip we just had in Ireland. My family was so appreciative and impressed with the details of the trip and I'm not sure if there was ever a family more satisfied with their tour guides than we were. Dermot Kelly with Irish Chauffeurs was absolutely incredible and every stop and tour throughout the week was the best. You made excellent hotel stops and each location was amazing. Thank you so much for working with us on this bucket list trip- we are already planning our next one and will absolutely be using Luxury Tours as our guide."

"It is so hard to explain how amazing Irish Luxury Tours has been! From the first minute that we booked our tour, Shaun and Eva have been unbelievable! So professional and responsive! They listened to our needs and they delivered! Now, let me heap some praises on our guide, Kieran Doherty… do we feel like he is family to us, now?? Yes! What an awesome person and guide- he went over and above for us every single step of the way! He found my Irish grandmother’s address and all the information on her family. I was BLOWN AWAY!!! He knew my husband loves soccer, so he obtained authentic jerseys for he and our son-in-law- he took us to all his favorite pubs and we got treated like royalty! This trip was just so amazing in so many ways, and we couldn’t have done this without our guide and the planning that Irish Luxury Yours did for us. Every single detail was 100% perfect! Our accommodations were incredible as well. Please do yourself a favor and plan your next trip with Irish Luxury Tours and ask for our Irish buddy Kieran to be your faithful guide- you will not be disappointed!! I promise!!"

Des was an awesome driver! We hired Irish Luxury Tours as my Dad was golfing and Mom and I were sightseeing. Des knew the local sites and provided history and background. He went above and beyond for us! My mom worked with Claire on the booking and appreciated the options and input during the planning process.

"Excellent tour. Our guide was Peter. Excellent sense of humor, knowledgeable, acquainted with the features of the land. He often made suggestions on revising our trip to improve efficiency and interest. He was always on time, and patient with our group of six people. He picked excellent restaurants, and was always accommodating for each individual. He quickly learned the needs of a disparate group. Excellent social intelligence. The trip was fantastic."

"My husband and I spent 11 marvelous days on the “Dublin, South, and Southwest Tour” of Ireland. We can’t say enough about how wonderful our experience was. Our driver (and now friend), Tony Byrne, guided us through a beautiful journey full of laughs and discovery. We loved every minute we spent with him listening to his stories. The accommodations were indeed luxurious and the pace was perfect. Our trip was customized to incorporate sightseeing and relaxation. It was truly a memorable trip and we would highly recommend this company."

"Shaun Rogers made our hopes become reality with an itinerary that included everything we requested. Our family of 7, including 3 teens, had a delightful experience for two weeks in the Republic and Northern Ireland. Tony Byrne, our God-sent driver/guide was fun, thoughtful, knowledgeable and flexible. Each member of our family connected quickly with Tony and we are ever-grateful for his wit and wisdom. Don’t tell him I said so, lest his ego becomes over inflated! We all highly recommend Irish Luxury Tours and Tony."

"We had two tours with Kieran during our vacation in Ireland. Both were fabulous! Kieran was an amazing guide, and had a vast and impressive knowledge of history. He even went out of his way to research sites having to do with our ancestry – taking us to places off the regular route. We definitely appreciated all he did for us. We learned so much, and definitely recommend him. We had six in our group, from ages 21 – 80 years old, and everyone loved him. Thank you Kieran from the mcnamara clan!"

"My husband uses this service while on business multiple times a year, and we use them when on holiday as a family and they are top-notch. We have always had friendly, kind drivers who have a great deal of information to share and are timely when minding a schedule. Whether for trips to and from the airport, or driving tours covering several days, this is a wonderful way to travel if you can. Highly recommended."

"We just returned from a wonderful 9-day tour of Ireland arranged by Shaun Rodgers of Irish Luxury Tours. It was a great trip! Four of us saw most of Ireland with the expert guidance of driver/guide Kieran. Kieran made the trip so special. From Dublin, to Kinsale, Cork, Killarney and Galway, our trip was extraordinary. We felt in capable hands with Kieran all the way. Thanks, Irish Luxury Tours for the trip of a lifetime. If we are lucky enough to get back to Ireland, we will definitely use your services again."

"Our family of seven, ranging in age from 7 – 76, spent 8 glorious days vacationing in Ireland. With Shaun Rodger’s help, we mapped out an itinerary to please each member of our family. Our trip could not have gone better. From the moment we were greeted at the airport by our driver and guide, Tony, we had an incredible time and were able to sit back and relax and know we were in good hands. We were truly sad to leave Tony at the end of the trip – he was full of information, good humor and gave as good as he got. We sincerely hope to return again in the near future and have Tony escort us through another adventure in Ireland!"

"I won a trip to Northern Ireland with Irish Luxury Tours. It was one Of the best trips I’ve ever been On! The man who organised my trip was called Shaun Rodgers and he was an absolute angel! He was on call and constant contact each and every step of the way! He met and organised the trip according to everything We wanted to see and do. Myself and my fiancé stayed in two amazing hotels two nights each… the Bushmills inn in Antrim near the giants causeway & the merchant hotel in Belfast city in the heart of everything. Sean recommended the hotels and organised our tours for titanic and giants causeway he included dinners and room credit to make our trip that extra special. It truly was an incredible unforgettable luxurious experience. I can’t thank Shaun enough and I would 100% recommend booking tours and trips through him and luxury tours Ireland as a whole! Amazing!"

"I used Irish Luxury Tours for a 10 day Ireland visit late April-early May 2017. And it was worth every penny! First of all, working with Shaun through email was very easy and he always responded very quickly to my questions. I just had to tell him what things we were interested in and he came up with a great itinerary. The hotels they picked for us was really a great treat. They all had great positives (the location in Dublin, the view in Killarney, historic castles) and all were 5 star. If you get a chance to visit Ireland you have to stay at Ashford Castle- it’s a once in a lifetime experience. And we loved our driver- Kieran. Everyday he showed up in a sparkling clean BMW with water and newspapers for us. Then he would do all the work while we were able to relax in the backseat and enjoy the beautiful Irish scenery. Because it was just us and Kieran we were able to tailor the trip as we went. We could spend as much or as little time as we wanted at any stop; we didn’t have to wait for a bus load of people. Obviously this trip cost more than your standard “big bus tour” but it was worth it! It was a stress free, relaxing time and we got to visit some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world."

"My daughter and I took a 14 day tour with Irish Luxury Tours and it was fantastic. Shaun Rogers helped us plan the tour before we left – going back and forth with email until he had a plan that suited us. Our driver/guide was Kieran D. I had a little reservation about spending two full weeks with one drive/guide. However, in the end, we could have taken Kieran home with us! All of the arrangements were perfect. We stayed in some beautiful hotels and castles, first class all the way. In addition to all the major attractions in Ireland, there were a couple of out of the way places we wanted to visit (The Quiet Man Bridge, etc.) and Shaun and/or Kieran fit them all in. The driver/guide understood that we wanted to shop, shop, shop and he delivered, taking us to some really nice stores and allowing us time in several villages to shop. There was no hunting for him or time limits – he found us every time, I don’t know how.. He also made sure we knew about several entertainment activities and would recommend the most wonderful pubs and restaurants and some other extras!. I cannot say enough about our excellent driver/guide. I recommend Irish Luxury Tours to anyone traveling in Ireland, whether it is for a weekend or two weeks. One other thing about Shaun Rogers: I told him we were taking a short trip to Scotland after our Ireland trip just to see the Royal Tattoo and have a quick trip to Isle of Skye. He planned that for us as well. So nice to not have to worry about a single thing for three whole weeks of traveling in Europe!"

"We had an amazing experience using Irish Luxury tours – and had a magical 10-day visit to Ireland. We started in Dublin and toured the south and west counties before returning to Dublin for a final night. Working with Shaun Rodgers was tremendous. He was extremely accessible via emai and we were able to tweak, change, add, subtract items from our itinerary. We traveled as a party of four – two adults and two children ages 12 and 19 – so the fact that this was a completely custom tour just for us (not part of a larger tour bus/tour group) was important. We stayed at the four hotels suggested by Shaun they were all five-star, first-rate places. On a trip like this you want the accommodations to be superb – we would go back to any of the hotels in a heartbeat. (We stayed at the Shelbourne in Dublin, the Perryville House in Kinsale, the Aghadoe Heights Spa and Hotel in Killarney and the Ashford Castle in Cong.) But – the thing that made our trip so special was our driver Sean McBride. Sean picked us up in Dublin in our private luxury minivan and we had an extremely comfortable drive around the Country. Sean was so professional, courteous and friendly – always checking to see how our children were doing and whether we needed anything, etc. Sean was completely flexible when we decided to change things up on a day – always there to support us however we wanted our vacation to be. Sean shared so much of his knowledge about and love for Ireland. Because of Sean, we now feel like experts in Ireland’s landmarks, farming and even athletics. Sean felt like part of the family and without a doubt was the primary reason we came back from Ireland feeling like this was a trip of a lifetime for our family. We were so glad we chose Irish Luxury Tours and encourage others to use this amazing service."

"We had the perfect trip. Everything was great, the hotels were wonderful, the service was excellent everywhere, We loved the Hotels you selected, And Tony our driver could not have done a better job. We enjoyed being with him and he handled everything perfectly. We are already planning a return trip for next August."

"We recently had the trip of a Lifetime with this incredible company. Our amazing driver, Kieran Doherty, was over the top fantastic. He was more than just a driver. He took care of our every need and provided so much history of our family. He was so incredibly thoughtful and kind. We are already planning our next trip!!!! Thanks Doc!!!!!"

"We recently had the pleasure of having Peter Maloney as our driver for 6 days. My 87 yr old mother and I so enjoyed the experience. Peter was extremely helpful in allowing us to locate some of our ancestral homes with only minimal information from Ancestry.com. Not only did he assist us with research and communication, he was willing to take us to those towns spontaneously. He also was wonderful with all of the regular touring that we did, providing helpful suggestions and tips. From Dublin, to Ardmore, to Killarney, to Dromoland Castle to the Cliffs of Mohr and places in between, it was a grand adventure! Peter was punctual, polite, patient and the most pleasant driver I have ever had. He has a manner which is so relaxed and kind. He is highly professional and organized as well. Peter is perfect! I am so grateful to have had the good fortune to be under his gentle guidance and felt extremely safe as did my mother. Please pass this along to the owner of the company with the highest praise possible. We will be requesting him in the future!"

"I can’t say enough about how fantastic Shaun was in helping us plan our Irish Luxury Tour around a family reunion in West Ireland. My husband and I traveled with our 11 year old twin daughters. Our Irish Luxury Tour was broken into two parts and Shaun was very willing to plan an itinerary that worked with us for before our family reunion and after the reunion! Shaun was instigative in helping plan our trip to Northern Ireland, a part we had not considered visiting before but fell in love with. From the hotel selection to visiting a traditional Aran woolen shop and the windy back roads less traveled, Shaun was spot on with his recommendations, even helping with suggestions of places to visit while we were doing our own thing on the reunion portion of our trip. Many highlights but his advice to visit The Glens of Antrim, Giants Causeway, The Dark Hedges, Dunluce Castle and arrange for a private walking tour of Derry as well as Hennigan’s Heritage Centre near Swinford, Achill Island and Keem Beach were just some of the fabulous places he suggested. I would not hesitate to recommend Irish Luxury Tours to help plan a trip to Ireland, we left enough to temp us back for a return trip."

"Kieran did a wonderful job explaining Ireland to the four of us. We ask & he delivered 110%. Our two weeks were full with good food, pubs & brews, and many new places to visit & explore."

"I want you to know that this was the best trip I have EVER taken. It was a true learning experience and I have told everyone I know to book with you."

"THANK YOU so much for such a terrific experience. You really wowed us with everything, all the special surprises. I can’t tell you how impressed I was with everything you know how to go the extra mile."

"We would like to thank you for making our trip to Ireland so memorable. We had a great time and enjoyed your choice of sights and towns. We saw and learned so much about Ireland and hope one day to come back with our kids."

"Just a note to say a huge thank you from our group of pensioners who experienced a lovely musical pub tour with yourself and the team. Everyone in the group was delighted with the content of the tour, the friendliness of the people involved and were all exhausted by the time they reached home – which is always the sign of a great holiday. All are now asking 'when is the next trip?'"

"I can’t tell you how wonderful we all think you are. You made the history LIVE for us and helped to show us the HEART of your beautiful Ireland. Your wit, your incredible knowledge, your love of music and your passion for Ireland have touched our loves forever. Thank you thank you."

"Thank you so much for your thoughtful and knowledgeable guidance on our vacation through Ireland. Your country is truly beautiful; it’s very easy to appreciate Donegal and the wild Irish Coast."

"Our experience in Ireland will remain with us a lifetime. Thank you so much for sharing your beloved country. The beauty of the 40 shades of green, the sun shine and rain, the history from the Vikings to the Normans, Strongbows and that Damned Cromwell, The Irish hospitality and the passion you express in your heritage. You have made Ireland so much more than just a place to visit; a return trip is a must. Your enthusiasm and love of Ireland has surely made a lasting impact in our hearts."

About Booking This Tour

Travel Documents

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally, you will need a passport valid for six months beyond the completion of your Tauck journey for entry into Ireland; however, you do not need a visa for the short duration of this tour.

If you are a citizen of another country traveling internationally, you should contact an embassy or consulate of Ireland to determine what travel documentation is required.

Please note that longer stays abroad for any purpose may require additional travel documentation.

We recommend that you make at least two photocopies of all the travel documents that you bring with you. Include copies of the photo page of your passport that contains the date of issuance, the date of expiration and your citizenship. Secure one set of copies in the safe in your room while traveling and leave one set behind with someone at home who will assist you in the event your documents are misplaced, lost or stolen.

To facilitate Travel Requirements, destinations are increasingly utilizing online forms that require digital proof that you've successfully completed your submission (via an email, QR code, etc.) To ensure smooth travels and peace of mind, we strongly recommend all guests carry a personal smart phone and sign up for international data plans before traveling overseas.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN AS A GUARDIAN: If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident. For travel abroad, many foreign countries have specific entry requirements for children under 21 who are traveling internationally without BOTH parents. (These requirements are in response to the increased incidence of children being abducted and taken abroad.) PLEASE NOTE THAT TAUCK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.

Travel Requirements For This Tour

Air Information and Luggage Restrictions

AIRFARE: Airfare to and from this destination is not included in the journey cost. If purchasing your air elsewhere, it is very important to provide us with your confirmed arriving and departing flight information no later than 3 weeks before your arrival date. Flight information can be submitted to Tauck (or verified, if you've already provided it) in the My Account section of Tauck.com.

TAUCK AIRPORT TRANSFERS are included at the start and end of the journey between the airport and the Tauck hotel. Airport transfers are available for any pre tour or post tour hotel stays immediately consecutive to the tour, providing flight information is received in the Tauck office no later than three weeks in advance. Details on locating your transfer upon arrival to the tour start city will be included in your final documents.

AIRLINES and CHECKED LUGGAGE: Due to space limitations during your Tauck journey, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one average-size suitcase per person. Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and are free to revise luggage policies without notice. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies. PLEASE NOTE that if you are booked on a tour that includes on-tour flights, the checked luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be lower than the weight restrictions for your international flights.

Checked Luggage – General

Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm).

Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and luggage exceeding airline standards for size or weight may result in expensive overage fees or other consequences.

Airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice, and certain airlines have different baggage allowances for different classes of service. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies.

Tauck luggage tags will be provided by your Tauck Director on Day 1 of your itinerary. Please do not attach a Tauck luggage tag to any carry-on items, as the Tauck tags designate luggage that is to be handled and transferred by ground operators and hotel staff during your journey.

Carry-on Luggage - General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel or for many on-tour flights. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and that you bring only those items you need handy during the day such as make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel.

Health, Safety and Mobility

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

While drinking water is generally safe at all our hotels, bottled water will be available wherever the local water is not fit to drink. We also provide bottled water on the motor coaches.

If you are interested in sporting activities, many opportunities await you on this particular journey. Golfing is available at Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa, and Lough Erne Resort. You may rent clubs and purchase golf balls but you will have to bring your own footwear. Experience has taught us that the earlier you book your tee time the better – even ahead of your departure! If you decide you would like to play once you have arrived, your Tauck Director will endeavor to honor your request. Tennis facilities are available at several hotels including Aghadoe Heights Hotel. Horseback riding is available at Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa. You will have the opportunity to swim in the pool at several of the hotels used on this tour. Any expenses incurred in conjunction with these optional activities are at your own expense.

Ireland has introduced a ban on smoking in all enclosed places of work in Ireland. This includes all bars, night clubs, restaurants and hotels. Although the public spaces within the hotel are non-smoking, you may request a smoking guest room at your hotel.

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine whether you are covered while traveling. If you will not be covered under your current policy, we strongly suggest that you arrange for adequate coverage while on tour.

If you have a medical condition which might limit your participation in activities, please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice and notify us as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. We will advise your Tauck Director accordingly.

  VACCINATIONS

If you are a resident of the U.S., no vaccinations are currently required for travel to Ireland. For complete vaccination and inoculation information please contact your physician, the public health service in your area, or the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to obtain information regarding vaccinations that may be required for your journey. The Travelers' Health Section of the CDC operates a 24-hour "Travelers' Health Hotline" at 800-232-4636 (toll-free in the U.S.). You may also log on to the CDC website by clicking here.

If you are a resident of another country, please contact an embassy or consulate of Ireland to determine what vaccination(s) may be required for your travel.

  SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS

The restaurants, hotels, caterers and numerous other partners we work with all do their best to accommodate special dietary requests from Tauck guests. However, given the diverse nature of those food providers (from small wineries to grand hotels to world-famous restaurants in more than 70 countries worldwide), some of our partners are better able than others to accommodate such requests. We therefore cannot guarantee that all dietary requests can be accommodated at every meal. Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited.

The Best of Ireland involves a considerable amount of walking. To enjoy this tour, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances, often over unpaved and uneven surfaces. Some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. The amount of walking you do, however, is at your discretion. The visits to the Cliffs of Moher, Kylemore Abbey and Giant's Causeway are challenging due to the steep climbs and long walks involved in the sightseeing.

Most hotels do not have special handicap access rooms.

PLEASE NOTE: We regret that this Tauck itinerary cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters. Likewise, we regret that we're unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs. The responsibility of the Tauck Director who accompanies your trip is to ensure that the larger group enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest. Guests requiring such individualized assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

Reading List

We have compiled a reading list of recommended books to give you more information about the destinations you will be traveling to on your upcoming journey!

You can view the reading list  here.

The weather in Ireland can be variable, alternating between wet and cool days, and sunny and mild days. The climate is generally moderate throughout the country, tempered by the Atlantic Ocean Gulf Stream. Average high temperatures from April through October range from 55 to 65˚F (13 to 18˚C) and the average low temperatures range from 40 to 55˚F (4 to 13˚C). Ireland, like other European countries, has experienced unusually warm spells in recent summers. Ireland's greenery owes its notoriety to the frequent rainfall.

To read about current weather conditions, we suggest you log on to the Internet website by clicking here.

What To Pack

Bringing the right clothing for your trip is important – we've partnered with New Headings who provide an "easy-to-use, one-stop shop" for your Tauck travel needs, specifically selected for this trip. Click here to visit their site .

The weather in Ireland is moderate. Your journey is designed with leisure in mind. Dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is adaptable and allows for layering. Generally, during the day, casual, comfortable, cotton clothing is recommended. Cool weather at higher elevations or at night will require warmer, layered clothing. The Emerald Isle owes its name to its precipitation, so rain is to be expected anytime.

In Europe, especially in finer restaurants, it is generally customary to dress somewhat formally. Slacks or a dress for women and a jacket and tie for men are acceptable dining attire, although it is not required. It is advisable to avoid wearing jeans, sneakers or shorts for dinner. You may also wish to dress up a bit for the welcome reception and the farewell dinner, but by all means be comfortable.

You will find a hair dryer located in your hotel guest room. Irons and ironing boards are available upon request. Valet laundry and dry cleaning services are also available for a fee.

We recommend that you pack an adequate supply of your prescription medication in its original container to last through your entire journey, together with a copy of your doctor's prescription or a letter from your health-care provider on office stationery explaining that the medication has been prescribed for you, a list of the generic names of your medication, your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bag to avoid any inconvenience in the event that your flight or luggage is delayed.

Following is a list of recommended items to pack for your trip to Ireland:

  • Casual daytime wear – shorts, slacks, long and short-sleeved shirts
  • An optional jacket and tie for men
  • Casually elegant evening wear for ladies
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat
  • A light sweater or jacket for higher elevations or a breezy night
  • Binoculars (7x50 preferably)
  • Insect repellent
  • Camera, lenses, batteries, memory cards and chargers
  • Lightweight, comfortable, sturdy walking shoes that have already been broken-in
  • Travel alarm clock/cell phone with alarm functions (many hotels do not have clocks in the rooms)
  • Rain poncho and collapsible umbrella
  • Reusable zipper-lock bags or other waterproof bags
  • Daypack for camera equipment
  • Sundries and toiletries that may be difficult to find en route
  • Copies of your travel documents that should be secured in the safe in your hotel room while traveling

A well organised tour with excellent tour director and very safe driver.
Was an excellent trip. Rose, our tour guide was awesome! She was very personable, funny, knowledgeable about all things UK and had great suggestions for free time. Jason our coach driver, was an excellent driver, extremely helpful and all around nice. Even our one day driver Daniel was great. Jason was required to take a day off. I would recommed this trip to anyone looking to go to the UK. Also, I would recommend Trafaglar to anyone looking to take a tour of another country.

The guide were very good at getting us to events tour and making the trip as smooth as possible
Really wish they spelled out that the Ireland trip is just a portion of a larger trip - most of the people have already travelled together for two weeks, so that was kinda awkward. Great trip for 18-24 year old Australians.

Excellent itinerary despite no group time in Dublin.
The tour was wonderful. Enjoyed all of the places that we visited. Only exception was the day that Antony treated the whole bus as if we were children, and told us that he would not tolerate a situation that came up.

Globus

  • Excellent - 74,902 reviews for Ireland tours
I could not say enough goid things about Janette. She was well organized, kept us all awsre of what we could expect, extremely knowledgeable, and well informed of yhe history of thevplaces that we went to. The only complsint was one of the side events that we went to was very hard for my wife to climb and we were not made aware of that ahead of time when it was too late to do anything about it. Also the schedule was a bit hectic on older people and several of us were complaining to each other about being worn out about the fifth day. The bus driver was very good at driving but not very friendly at all.
Had to call Globus three times before trip to get the final travel packet. Each time I called ,was told that someone would take care of this. Bus driver Glenn and tour guide Clive were great. Mic on bus kept cutting out and the people in the back of the bus could not hear. Would have like to have spent a day in Belfast and seen the Titanic museum ,All that Belfast was just a bathroom break and all I saw of Belfast was the washroom inside City Hall. If we had spent a day in Belfast I, wouldn't been so tried by the time we got to Scotland. Also would have like to have another in York. When we returned to London, somewhere from the time the bus arrived at the hotel till they unloaded the bags and put them on the luggage cart and bought them to the room, the porter broke my bag and the wheel came off. When I reported this to the hotel was told " these things happen", too bad, so sad " have your insurance company buy you a new bag". I had to try to get back home with a big with three wheel.

We really enjoyed our time on this trip!
We saw alot over the time. However the itinerary could be tightened up to allow more time in Glasgow and Belfast. The first day has nothing scheduled and the London tour could have been done then. We took our own tour to Stonehenge. Day 7 has a couple hour free in Belfast but not enough time to even visit the Titanic museum. The last day was a 1.5 hour tour of Dublin. I saw this as more a 6 day tour and no time in Glasgow. Some days were very late, arriving at after 7 or 8 which made for very late dinners. We enjoyed what we saw.

Greg Colgin was our travel director and made the trip memorable. He is knowledgeable, caring, extremely organized, and concerned about our wellbeing. He made the trip fun with his little extras. The itinerary was good. We saw a lot in the amount of time we had.
Greg was positive, knowledgeable, fun, and very organized. He provided creativity, kept our time as very fun and informative. Wanted to make sure he was available to answer questions and to meet everybody’s needs.

We had an amazing experience travelling Ireland. Our tour guides were very entertaining and helpful, and our fellow travellers were lots of fun to hang out with. We saw so much, but would love to back again and see even more. RIT picked experiences that really helped us understand Irish history and culture so much better than before. It is a truly stunning county visually, and people there so fun and helpful.
Starting with our tour driver's, Rob and John, they were a major part of the success of this tour. Friendly, knowledgeable and kind, both men made each part of the journey relaxed, safe and enjoyable. The destinations of our tour were perfect...from historic sites to natural beauty spots, everything was well chosen and well-organized for us. The fun spots along the way, distilleries, pubs, Celtic shows, sheepdog displays and walking tours, were wonderful showcasing Ireland. Thank you for making it all easy, fun and rewarding.

Everything was organised great and hotels good with an excellent tour guide! What more could we want? Everyone so helpful and knowledgeable
This tour was grand! Our guide, Marcus, was thoughtful, engaging, and knowledgeable of Irish language, culture and history. A great source for local sightseeing and spot on with recommendations for food and entertainment. Margaret, the host of my bed&breakfast could not have been more accomodating and my room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was nice and the dining room was very pleasant. As for the tour of the Irish coast and countryside it could not have been more beautiful, made even more spectacular with the very fine weather. Especially on our visit to the cliffs at Slieve League. I hope to join you for a future tour to see more of the enchanting emerald isle.

The communication/paperwork could use a little fine tuning, but overall the value was definitely there. This tour brings you through absolutely spectacular areas of Ireland, with enough downtime to not feel too rushed. The hotels/food was nicer than we expected for the price.
Just finished this great tour of Ireland with Indus Travel. Eddie, the tour bus driver, and Marian, our tour guide, were amazing. Great info about the areas we traveled, history and local stories.

Quilters Journey of Ireland Highlights

One must be 21 years of age or older to participate on this tour.

Our circle Ireland tour begins and ends in Dublin and takes us north to Belfast, then west to the beautiful Irish coast, then south giving you a first hand glimpse into all that makes this beautiful island so magical.  In Dingle, you will have an option to enjoy a quilt class with one of Ireland's most beloved quilting instructors.  The tour is an Emerald Isle dream you won't want to miss.

In addition to multiple quilt and fabric shop stops, some of the other stops on our tour include (but are not limited to):

Dublin : Enjoy the vibrant pubs, eclectic markets, and numerous cultural attractions that make Dublin one of the most interesting small cities in the world. Founded as a Viking settlement at the mouth of the River Liffey, Ireland’s capital city is rich with history and filled with storytellers. Major landmarks include: Christ Church Cathedral (the oldest building in Ireland), the Dublin Castle (which has stood since the 12th Century), the Spire of Dublin, the statue of Molly Malone, Trinity College, and the Guinness brewery. Here  you’ll find cobbled streets, lit with the ruddiness of pubs ringing with Irish folk tunes.

Belfast : Compact and easy to explore on foot, Belfast is known for its pubs and an attitude that values having a good time. There are hundreds of pubs in Northern Ireland’s capital, but The Crown is something special and a must for any visitor, located just across the street from the Grand Opera House. Belfast has something to offer everyone, from an international selection of restaurants, bars, and cafes, to a rugged natural splendor that surrounds the city. Also, the birthplace of the Titanic!

Ulster Folk Art Museum : Step back in time and uncover a way of life from 100 years ago. Discover cottages, farms, schools, and shops as you wander through the beautiful parkland of the Folk Museum chatting to costumed visitor guides demonstrating traditional crafts. Climb on and off majestic steam locomotives or experience the sensation of flight in the Transport Museum bursting with horse drawn carriages, electric trams, motorbikes, fire-engines, and vintage cars.

County Kerry : A county in the South-West Region of Ireland, Kerry is one of the most mountainous regions of Ireland. It faces the Atlantic Ocean and features many peninsulas, inlets, and islands, resulting in a breathtakingly picturesque landscape. Kerry is as close as one can get to the mythical Ireland: A Celtic kingdom of misty mountains promised by glossy brochures and Hollywood films. **

Dingle Peninsula : Located in County Kerry and comprising Europe’s westernmost point, the Dingle Peninsula features stunning views, natural wonder, and extensive archaeological monuments dating back 6,000 years. This is the sort of fairytale place that one might imagine when reading Celtic folklore and mythology. Many Hollywood movies have been filmed here.

Slea Head Drive : A circular route, beginning and ending in Dingle, which takes in a large number of attractions and stunning views on the western end of the Dingle Peninsula. Slea Head is a well-known and recognized landmark and very scenic viewpoint, with a dramatic view of the Blasket Islands.

Ring of Kerry:  Rolling green hills and sparkling lakes. Sheep and cows grazing in patchwork fields. Unspoiled golden beaches giving way to jaw-dropping cliffs. You will find each turn brings a new treat, from lakes, rivers, waterfalls and castles. This treasure on southwest coast of Ireland really has it all.

Sheepdog Trials: Enjoy up close and personal viewing of sheepdogs and the sheep they guard.  See how they work, obey commands and take care of their flocks.  This is a rare treat that has been well received by our guests.

Blarney Castle : A medieval stronghold in Blarney, near Cork, Ireland. At the top of the Castle lies the Stone of Eloquence, better known as the Blarney Stone, which legend tells us is a magical stone upon which Irish kings were crowned.

Waterford Factory :  A manufacturer of crystal, the factory is named after the city of Waterford, Ireland. The origin of crystal production in Waterford dates back to 1783, when George and William Penrose started producing extremely fine flint glass that became world-renowned. Today, skilled craftsmen are on display demonstrating their trade of making the Waterford Crystal. Experience the meticulous process of molding, blowing, cutting, sculpting, and engraving that goes into producing this fine crystal.

17 Best Neck Creams for Firming Skin, Tested and Reviewed

GH Beauty Lab scientists analyzed 901 data points to find the neck creams that really work.

We've been independently researching and testing products for over 120 years. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission. Learn more about our review process.

Restore & Renew Face & Neck Multi Action Serum

Best Overall

No7 restore & renew face & neck multi action serum.

Multi Correxion 5-in-1 Restoring Night Cream

Roc Multi Correxion 5-in-1 Restoring Night Cream

Retinol Skin-Smoothing Body Treatment

Best Retinol Neck Firming Cream

Paula's choice retinol skin-smoothing body treatment.

To find the neck creams that actually work, Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab scientists evaluate neck creams and treatments both in the Lab using technical instruments and on consumer testers over 12 weeks to find the best formulas proven to work. We parsed through 1,711 data points to find the best anti-aging neck creams and treatments that really work.

"Neck skin is super thin because it has less oil glands, meaning it needs more moisture than the face," says Neda Mehr, M.D., a dermatologist and founder of Pure Dermatology Cosmetic and Hair Center in Newport Beach, California. "Since dry skin leads to fine lines and wrinkles, hydration is key for the neck area." In addition, she says, "neck skin becomes crepey quicker than the face because the collagen layer is thinner."

No7 Restore & Renew Face & Neck Multi Action Serum

The winner of the GH Beauty Lab's neck cream test, this lightweight No7 serum with collagen-boosting retinoids and peptides was a heavy hitter for firming, outperforming the others. Before-and-after images taken with high-resolution professional photography showed the most improvement in tightening and lifting neck skin over 12 weeks.

Testers voted the drugstore buy the fastest-absorbing and most appealing in texture as well as least irritating. “This made my neck more firm,” one said. A heads up for those with sensitive skin: a few users noted that it didn't react well with their skin and caused inflammation.

GH Beauty Lab testers loved the lightweight texture of this great value firming night cream from RoC, which can be used on the neck. Noting its quick absorption and fruity scent — which a few users didn't love — they felt it left their skin feeling smooth and refreshed . "I noticed a difference in just three days," a tester marveled. "My skin looked firmer, smoother and brighter, with wrinkles decreased."

While not designed exclusively for the neck, Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Reviews Analyst Chiara Butler uses it from her chin down and loves that the rich body cream contains retinol, a top anti-aging ingredient, at a gentle but effective concentration of 0.1% . "I found that it made my skin feel softer and smoother with regular use," she says.

"It has a very emollient texture, thanks to the included shea butter, grapeseed oil and evening primrose oil, which are super moisturizing and help counteract the dryness that retinol may cause." The one element that Butler doesn't love is that it's fragrance-free, "so it smells like its ingredients which I don’t prefer."

SkinBetter Techno Neck Perfecting Cream

Techno Neck Perfecting Cream

If you have that telltale skin crepeiness and looseness known as "turkey neck" or even a double chin, turn to this SkinBetter Science neck cream, recommended by both Dr. Mehr and Dr. Brauer. "It not only improves the appearance of laxity and crepeiness, but also hydrates the skin , increasing its suppleness," Dr. Mehr explains.

Revision Skincare Nectifirm Advanced Neck Firming Cream

Nectifirm Advanced Neck Firming Cream

Made with eight types of firming peptides , this Revision Skincare neck treatment is recommended by Dr. Brauer. "Ingredients like peptides can help improve skin's structure and support collagen," he explains. While it boasts some top notch ingredients, it is a pricier pick.

Fresh Black Tea Firming Corset Cream

Black Tea Firming Corset Cream

A winner of the GH Beauty Lab’s neck cream test, this luxurious Fresh cream made with exotic botanical extracts like black tea, goji berry and lychee as well as hydrating hyaluronic acid was the most loved among testers. They gave the formula top points for making skin look and feel hydrated, and it scored well for visibly smoothing neck lines in before-and-after photo evaluations. “I definitely see a difference in my neck,” one said. “My skin looks much more even and brighter,” a second commented. While many users love the rich, creamy texture, a few noted it was too thick for daytime application.

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Night Cream

Lift & Luminate Triple Action Night Cream

A winner of GH's Best Anti-Aging Skin Awards , No7's drugstore buy was one of the best-performing anti-aging creams tested that can be used on both the face and neck. Testers loved its long-lasting hydration, firming power and texture . "I've received compliments from friends, family and coworkers," one raved. Another reported: "I noticed particular improvement in skin texture on my neck." While some testers loved the fragrance, others reported that it was too potent and "perfume-y."

Caudalie Resveratrol-Lift Firming Night Cream

Resveratrol-Lift Firming Night Cream

In GH Beauty Lab testing, Caudalie's moisturizer made with plant-based natural ingredients was one of the most hydrating formulas, with reviewers noting its quick absorption and subtle scent, although a few felt the scent was strong. In Lab measurements with the Corneometer device, which measures hydration, it increased skin's moisturizaton by an impressive 43% over six hours. Nervous about creams feeling thick or greasy on the neck? Testers said it has a "light and fluffy" texture.

Idsin Hyaluronic Concentrate

Hyaluronic Concentrate

While definitely a splurge, this Good Housekeeping Beauty Award winner can be used on the face and neck and has great instant and long-term benefits to the skin. It absorbs quickly and our Lab data evaluations found that the serum delivers immediate plumping and smoothing effects and will improve skin’s texture over time, thanks to the hyaluronic acid and peptides in the formula.

Mary Kay Timewise Volu-firm Night Treatment with Retinol

Timewise Volu-firm Night Treatment with Retinol

With a powerful combination of retinol, peptides and plant stem cells, this Good Housekeeping Seal holder helps smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles and keeps skin — on the face and neck — hydrated for 12 hours. According to a four-week independent consumer study, a majority of women agreed that their skin texture was dramatically improved and that lines and wrinkles in the neck area were visibly softened . More specifically, 82% of testers said that their neck area looked noticeably smoother.

Olay Regenerist Ultra Rich Face Moisturizer

Regenerist Ultra Rich Face Moisturizer

This cream from Olay (which can be used on the face and neck) does more than just moisturize. O ver 70% of testers said it "visibly improved skin's firmness and appearance." Testers also liked that it felt rich but not greasy (73%) and agreed that it improved skin's texture (70%). Plus, it's fragrance-free so it's ideal for anyone who doesn't like or can't tolerate fragrance. One thing to watch out for: a reviewer noted that it can pill after applying.

RoC Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Anti-Aging Daily Face Moisturizer

Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Anti-Aging Daily Face Moisturizer

"Protection and prevention from future damage, like limiting sun exposure and using sunscreen daily, is the best way to keep your skin bright, plump, and firm," says GH Beauty Lab Senior Chemist Danusia Wnek . A winner in the Beauty Lab's anti-aging day cream testing, this moisturizer from RoC, which can be used on the neck too, protects skin with broad spectrum SPF 30 and ranked the highest within the study at softening, firming and reducing wrinkles . Testers loved that it absorbed quickly and had a nice scent, but a few found that the applicator occasionally got clogged. "It made my skin feel plump, smooth and glowing and it smells so good," shares one reviewer.

NEOSTRATA Triple Firming Neck Cream

Triple Firming Neck Cream

Tackle even stubborn neck lines with NeoStrata’s amino acid cream, a winner of the GH Beauty Lab’s neck cream test that earned the highest marks for smoothing wrinkles . It was the best of all products evaluated at minimizing the look of testers’ neck lines and wrinkles in standardized digital imaging, although may not give as much lift as some other products. Users also gave it high marks for making skin feel moisturized. The rich formula “improved my neck — I love it!” a fan said. “Both my neck and my décolletage looked smoother,” another reported.

SkinMedica Neck Correct Cream

Neck Correct Cream

Packed with smoothing peptides, SkinMedica's neck treatment is a new GH beauty editor holy grail. "This cream has actually noticeably reduced the band-like lines around my neck and made the skin feel tighter in a few weeks of use," GH's beauty director notes. "The gel-like formula is gentle and even feels soothing so I look forward to using it, plus the bottle lasts a very long time." Grace Wu , a product analyst at the Good Housekeeping Institute is also a fan, especially of the texture. "I love the gel consistency — my skin almost feels instantly hydrated and softer when I use this neck cream," she says. The one thing she doesn't love: the fragrance.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Neck and Decollete Firm and Repair Cream

Prevage Anti-Aging Neck and Decollete Firm and Repair Cream

One of Dr. Engelman's favorite neck creams, Elizabeth Arden's formula is packed with peptides, plant oils and shea butter to fortify lax skin on both the neck and chest area. It "does take away the crepiness in the lines," a reviewer reported. A rich cream, some users commented on the thick consistency.

Alastin Restorative Neck Complex

Restorative Neck Complex

This anti-aging neck treatment recommended by Dr. Brauer is hypoallergenic and made with ingredients to replenish sensitive skin . To treat redness and sensitivity in the neck area, "look for ingredients like niacinamide and ceramides ," he suggests. The formula also contains peptides to help firm slack skin. "It makes my neck look smoother and less obviously horizontally lined, maybe a little tighter," says Stephanie Dolgoff , GH Deputy Health Director. "It is not thick and goopy so it doesn't build up, and has no scent, which is a plus for me.” The only downside: some complained that the pump in the container didn't work and they had to open the product to use it, potentially reducing its efficacy.

StriVectin Peptight Tightening Neck Serum Roller

Peptight Tightening Neck Serum Roller

Packed with peptides, this tightening neck serum claims to visibly tighten skin and smooth lines on the neck . Plus, it has a super application method: you turn the applicator on, squeeze to release the serum and roll it in an upward motion on the neck and jawline. "The formula was extremely moisturizing and I loved the cooling massage roller — it felt so nice on my skin," says Good Housekeeping Beauty Assistant Catharine Malzahn . While most reviewers noted the speedy results, a few felt they didn't see results for a while.

How we test the best neck creams

linebreak

In the Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab's neck cream test, experts measure each product's ability to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles on the neck and lift and tighten neck skin over 12 weeks of use. Consumer testers use the label-masked products at home and evaluated them on factors like texture, irritation, scent, absorption, moisturization effects and the look and feel of skin after application.

In the Lab, GH Beauty Lab scientists analyzed over 200 images taken with high-resolution professional photography to gauge changes in neck lines and skin laxity before and after 12 weeks of neck cream use, as pictured below. In total, Lab experts tallied 1,711 data points to find the winning neck creams.

a side by side photo of a woman's neck before and after our neck cream test

A side-by-side photo of a woman's neck before and after our neck cream test.

Do neck firming creams actually work?

linebreak

Yes — to an extent. "The purpose of neck creams and treatments is similar to those for skin of the face, to maintain healthy and youthful-looking skin, including the integrity of the skin's barrier function and moisture, all while attempting to protect against and repair environmental damage," says Jeremy Brauer, M.D. , clinical associate professor at the New York University Department of Dermatology in New York City.

In GH Beauty Lab tests, users apply neck creams daily for twelve weeks to see changes in skin . "Neck creams are typically thicker than facial creams and are formulated with specific ingredients to help lift and tighten the loose, crepey neck and décolleté skin that occurs as we age, due to collagen and elastin loss," Dr. Mehr explains.

That said, there's no such thing as a neck lift in a bottle: "You shouldn't expect miracles from topical neck treatments," advises GH Beauty Lab Chemist Danusia Wnek . "If you are looking for a drastic change, you may want to visit a dermatologist or plastic surgeon." And remember, daily habits can have an effect too: Laxity of the neck skin is happening earlier than ever thanks to "tech neck" from looking at our phones repeatedly, Dr. Engelman says.
