Girls Aloud
Six reasons why going to gigs alone is the best.
So you want to go see that metalcore band you love but none of your friends like that “shouty” music? Or you REALLY want to go check out that new artist on TikTok you discovered but all your mates won’t go to a gig where they only know one song? Or worse, your group of friends cannot get themselves organized and work out which show and when to go on a tour, so you’re worried you’ll miss out on tickets. Let them be miserable and start living your best life by going to concerts by yourself. Trust us, it’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do!
Going to gigs alone can be daunting. What am I going to do with myself in between sets? Are people going to think I’m weird? Why would I not want to share the experience?
Listen, we are all for sharing the experience, but sometimes it’s either missing out or going alone, and in those cases we definitely recommend going alone. Here’s a few reasons why you’ll never regret it once you build up the courage to go through with it.
1 . See artists you really REALLY want to see
Imagine the FOMO of missing your favourite band on their new tour, hearing all those new songs live, seeing everyone post about it. Don’t let that happen, and get that ticket. Plus you then get to tell the pals who didn’t want to come how you saw that band or artist before they blew up or how they played that one B-side track that everyone loves – now who has FOMO?
2. Meet new friends
It’s no secret that music brings people together. That moment when everyone’s favourite ballad hits and there’s not a dry eye in the building, you turn to your left or right and suddenly you bond with a stranger over your favourite song. For the metalheads, we also recommend mosh pits, follow the rules of the pit but what a way to make new friends!
3. The freedom
Now hear us out – but going to a gig alone means you can get to the venue when you want, you can go to the loos when you want, you can stand in line at the merch for hours and no one will ask if you’re sure you want to wait. And no one will drag you home when you want to wait after the show has finished and find every piece of confetti or ask for the setlist.
4 . It’s a cult
You are not alone in going to gigs by yourself, you’d probably be surprised by how many people do the same thing. Some fan groups even have entire sub cultures of going to gigs alone (shoutout to Frank Turner’s solo armada, we see you!) – bringing us back to reason #2, new friends.
5. Confidence boost
Going to a gig by yourself will do wonders for your confidence. Sure the first time might feel a bit awkward and weird, but isn’t it always? Remember your first day of school? And then it was kind of okay after a while (let’s ignore our teenage years…) Once you’ve done it and experience all of the divinity of a solo gig you’ll feel free as a bird.
6. Experience the music your way
Whether you love hanging out by the bar, need to be front row, prefer seats or want to leave a bit earlier to catch the last train – the world is your oyster! The experience is yours, you don’t need to coordinate with someone else, rely on them to enjoy the show as much as you are and have as much of a good time as you are. And frankly, if you took a chance on a new genre or new artist and it isn’t your vibe, you can just go home. Glorious.
So there you have it – doesn’t sound too bad now does it?! At the end of the day it all comes down to you and your artist, a concert will always be a shared experience whether with strangers or friends. The most important thing to do is have fun.
Your next gig awaits
It all starts here.
Create memories to last a lifetime
Whether it’s your favourite band, an evening with friends, discovering new artists or the seventh show on the tour, we are your go-to home for all things live music.
Don’t miss out on the biggest announcement and keep checking back for latest news and last chance tickets.

The Eagles are one of the most legendary soft rock, country and folk groups to have ever existed, with a highly decorated career spanning more than 50 years, and they’re currently playing their final ever UK shows – including five right here in Manchester.
Currently on their ‘Long Goodbye’ tour around the world, the music veterans have been technically bidding farewell for quite a while now as they simply have so many places to visit before they sign off for good, but we’re hardly complaining.
The LA-based band have too many hits to count, from ‘Hotel California’, ‘Take It Easy’ and ‘Push It To The Limit’, to ‘Desperado’, ‘One of These Nights’ and ‘New Kid in Town’ (we really could be here forever), all we know is that this run of shows is your last chance to hear them be played in Manchester.
Rocking up Co-op Live Arena for the first time at the end of the month, they’re just the fifth act to play the brand-new arena. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know ahead of the Eagles’ last-ever Manchester gigs.

Are their tickets left for the Eagles’ final UK tour?
If you’re looking to come along to one of the Eagles ‘ last shows on our shores, you’re in luck; the best part about being big enough to do five nights is that the chances of you grabbing a ticket are always going to be pretty strong.
With the first of their shows kicking off on Friday, 31 May and a further four nights in early June, you can pretty much take your pick of which one works best for you, though there is obviously low availability for the gigs coming up the soonest.
However, we’ll warn you, these bad boys will set you back a bit, with the cheapest tickets starting from £87.08 including fees, and the most expensive (brace yourselves) clocking in at a whopping £442.70. Gulp. Nevertheless, whatever price range you fancy, you can grab yours HERE .
Who is supporting the Eagles in Manchester?
Well it was supposed to be soft rock icons Steely Dan supporting The Eagles here in Manchester, but they pulled out ‘due to unforeseen circumstances’.
Stepping in to fill their shoes will be The Doobie Brothers, a band who’ve released a staggering 15 albums over the five-decade-long career.
Their big hits include Long Train Runnin’, What a Fool Believes, and Listen to the Music – though there are obviously A LOT of great songs for them to get through in their support act slot.
They’re not just old favourites in the US but all over the world and you really are in for a treat getting to two Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in the same night.

Stage times
As for when you can expect to see all the above take the stage, neither Co-op Live nor Eagles have confirmed exact stage run times just yet.
The doors to the venue open from 6pm and the show will start with The Doobie Brothers at approximately 7.30pm, meaning you’ve got plenty of time to get in, find seats, sort a drink, some food and so on.
You can expect the headliners to appear around 9pm and since the venue’s standard curfew is 11pm, that means you’re in for at least a two-hour set of banger after banger. Speaking of…
The best part about a farewell tour (or five) is that it’s essentially going to be a greatest hits show and with two hours of tunes to play, the chances are you’re going to hear pretty much every song you’ll be hoping for.
On the other hand, these lot have been going for over half a century and there is a lot of music to get through, so it’s still worth taking a glance at what we think they’re going to play. Luckily, Setlist.fm usually has us sorted on that front and this looks to be the average from their shows so far:
- Seven Bridges Road (Steve Young cover)
- Take It Easy
- One of These Nights
- Best of My Love
- Take It to the Limit
- Lyin’ Eyes
- Witchy Woman
- Peaceful Easy Feeling (Jack Tempchin cover)
- New Kid in Town
- Tequila Sunrise
- In the City (Joe Walsh song)
- I Can’t Tell You Why
- Life’s Been Good (Joe Walsh song)
- Already Gone (Robb Strandlund cover)
- The Boys of Summer (Don Henley song)
- Funk #49 (James Gang cover)
- Life in the Fast Lane
- Heartache Tonight
- Rocky Mountain Way(Joe Walsh song)
- Hotel California
How to get there + travel info
Now, as for how you’ll get to shows at Co-op Live, luckily it’s right next door to a rather famous big blue stadium and its integrated Metrolink stop.
Head along the light blue or orange lines directly to the Etihad Campus or Ashton-under-Lyne and you can get off the tram literally spitting distance from the arena. You can find the full map HERE .
Trams run frequently on the Ashton-Eccles line to the Etihad stop, with services leaving every six minutes from the city centre and until 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you want to take another new and improved arm of Manchester’s public transport system, not only is there a whole host of routes that drop you off close to the venue but there’ll also be a free shuttle bus from the city centre to and from events between 20 April-30 June 2024.
You can find the full list of bus routes HERE , with the one in closest proximity to the venue being the 53 bus which runs from Cheetham Hill through to Higher Crumpsall, Old Trafford and Pendleton, leaving just a two-minute walk to Co-op Live. You also get free Bee Network travel with any valid event ticket.
Co-op Live and TfGM to offer FREE trams and buses to and from new arena for all event ticket holders
Getting there by car and parking
If you’re driving, there is limited parking available at the venue but this must be pre-booked ahead of time and there are designated drop-off areas.
The postcode is M11 3DU and you can follow the signs towards the wider Etihad Campus as you get closer; directions to the adjacent drop-off points will also be signposted.
Keep in mind that congestion on the roads close to the stadium is expected to gather around two hours prior to any event, so if you are travelling on the road, these are the suggested times they provide come event day – though estimates will obviously vary:
- Alan Turing Way (both directions): plan an additional 20 minutes into any journey by road.
- Hyde Road (eastbound): expect an additional 15 minutes to be added to your journey.
- Mancunian Way (westbound): plan for an extra 10 minutes of travel time.
There are also three park-and-ride facilities near Co-op Live but be advised that the Velopark and Holt Town stops will be closed post-event to help safely manage crowds:
- Ashton Moss (Ashton line) – 183 spaces and 12 disabled spaces
- Ashton West (Ashton line) – 184 spaces and 11 disabled spaces
- Ladywell (Ashton-Eccles line) – 332 spaces and 22 disabled spaces
Lastly, Co-op Live is only a half-hour stroll from Manchester Piccadilly and they’ve developed a new City Link walking route lined with light installations to help you find your way.
Greater Manchester now also offers the option to hire bikes through the Beryl , with riders able to locate, unlock, get to their destination and then safely lock up the boke all through an easy-to-use app. There are hire points just near the south-west corner of the Etihad Stadium on Ashton New Road.

A long-lost verse from an iconic local folk song is to be played for the first time ever at a free festival in Salford next weekend.
And it’s gearing up to be a “once in a lifetime opportunity” for those lucky enough to hear it.
Almost 75 years after it was written about the Greater Manchester city of Salford , ‘Dirty Old Town’ by legendary folk singer-songwriter Ewan MacColl is now the subject of a new BBC Radio 4 documentary.
During the documentary , an abandoned verse from the iconic song can be heard sung for the first time since 1951 – and next weekend, MacColl’s folk-legend widow, Peggy Seeger, is bringing that same abandoned verse to life in a one-time-only performance at this year’s We Invented the Weekend festival.
In a bid to reclaim the song back for the city it was originally written about, Seeger will be taking to the stage at the free-to-attend festival – which is back by popular demand at MediaCity and Salford Quays on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by We Invented The Weekend (@weinventedtheweekend)
Born in the Salford suburb of Broughton in 1915, MacColl came from a family with socialist roots, and started life as a young communist playwright.
He first released ‘Dirty Old Town’ in 1952, after originally using the melody and abandoned verse in a play in 1951, and the song quickly made waves in the UK’s burgeoning folk scene due to its emotive melodies and lyrics – which documentary host, proud Salfordian and broadcaster, Mike Sweeney, discovers as he follows along with Seeger’s recreation.
During the documentary, Sweeney explores the myths around the song, and hears from Seeger about how MacColl’s rigorous approach to songwriting resulted in the abandoned verse being cut.
Sweeney also traces the relationships that led to the song being covered several times, most-notably by bands like The Dubliners and The Pogues – who took it from 1960s folk clubs to audiences around the world, and subsequently led many music lovers to believing it’s an Irish song rather than about Salford.
Peggy Seeger said ‘Dirty Old Town’ is “more than just a song”, adding that it “speaks to those who live anywhere in dirty old broken down industrial cities everywhere”.
She continued: “Salford City FC fans bawl it out, thousands of them. It has been covered by hundreds of singers. Salford was in Ewan bones. He took me to his dirty old town within a week of our three decade partnership. It is a perfect song, a beautiful melody, four economical verses, and has been covered by hundreds of singers each in their own way.”
Seeger and her son, musician Calum MacColl, will take part in an ‘in conversation’ event with Mike Sweeney at the We Invented the Weekend festival to tell the story of the song in the city it was created in.
This will then be followed by an acoustic performance in front of a live audience – with Seeger singing the abandoned verse which never made popular renditions.

Manchester United's pre-season campaign includes some intriguing fixtures, as we look to prepare for 2024/25.
Victory for Erik ten Hag's side in last month's Emirates FA Cup final means a Community Shield appearance, for the first time since 2016. Jesse Lingard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored in a 2-1 win over Leicester City on that occasion.
The clash, against Premier League title winners Manchester City, is scheduled for Saturday 10 August, the weekend before the big kick-off.
United and adidas launch new training kit
Our first fresh look for the 2024/25 season is here, and available now on United Direct.
First up, is a trip to Trondheim in Norway, to face Rosenborg on Monday 15 July, the day after the Euro 2024 final in Germany.
The following Saturday (20 July), we have a friendly at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, for the second successive year, with Rangers providing the opposition in Scotland.
These two fixtures provide perfect preparation for Tour 2024, as the squad flies out to the United States.
Los Angeles is the first stop-off, as United meet Arsenal at SoFi Stadium on 27 July, before heading to San Diego on the last day of the month.
Snapdragon Stadium hosts a clash with continental opposition in the shape of Real Betis , which should provide another interesting challenge.
We finish with a match against arch-rivals Liverpool in South Carolina, on 3 August, for a first contest against the Merseysiders' new boss Arne Slot.

Liam Gallagher drove fans wild as he kicked off his Definitely Maybe anniversary tour that includes three huge homecoming gigs at the new Co-op Live Arena.
The former Oasis frontman launched his tour in Sheffield today (June 1) and will be heading to the Co-Op Live on June 15 and 16 before returning on June 27 and 28 for the two final gigs of his solo tour.
Lovers of Oasis have been eagerly awaiting the chance to see the iconic frontman again after he promised to perform all the songs from Definitely Maybe to celebrate 30 years since Oasis' debut album was released. Ahead of taking to the stage, Liam treated fans inside the arena to a countdown from 2024 to 1994, the Mirror reports.

Liam and his band, which includes original Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, kicked off the gig at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield with the anthem Rock 'N' Roll star. Taking to the stage, Liam in true form opted for a baggy coat. When the clock struck 1994, Liam appeared on screen in his Oasis days.
Having opened his gig, Liam later performed a second Oasis track, Columbia, for the sold-out audience.
Earlier in the evening before Liam had begun belting out Oasis classics, Liverpool band Cast had been the main support act, with the first band of the night on stage called Villanelle, who are the band of Liam's son Gene.
Going into the weekend, the Mirror told how singer Liam, now 51, has opted for a healthy diet and running sessions ahead of his Oasis anniversary tour kicking off. Liam and his long-term partner Debbie had relocated to the Cotswolds while their London house is being renovated and it has coincided with a change in attitude for Liam ahead of the epic tour.
A source close to the singer said: "He's getting lots of country walks with their rescue dog Buttons and eating healthily, cutting down on alcohol and going for bike rides and runs. He knows how quickly these Definitely Maybe gigs sold out and wants them to be epic shows."
"Rehearsals have gone really well and now he just can't wait to get on stage and have it." Liam himself had said rehearsals had been "SOUNDING and LOOKING BIBLICAL" and he now hopes to continue this on stage for a tour which will also play in Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, London and Dublin.
Tickets sold out almost instantly but those unlucky not to be going in the coming weeks may have a chance to see Liam singing Oasis songs next year, as the band's second album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? Will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025.
Earlier this year Liam vowed to celebrate all the albums, with or without brother Noel on stage. He told Mojo magazine: "It's down to the universe. It'll happen when it happens. It's not in our hands any more. Me, I love nostalgia, though. I'm doing the lot. Every album...."
"You never enjoy them the first time round, so I'll be milking the lot."

Nicki Minaj apologises to fans as Co-op Live show postponed at last minute after star's arrest
The US singer and rapper was released from custody just before 9pm on Saturday but she will have to pay an undisclosed fine for "illegally exporting soft drugs from the Netherlands to another country", Dutch police told Sky News.

Nicki Minaj's concert at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, attended by thousands of fans, has been postponed at the last minute after she was arrested hours earlier in the Netherlands.
The American singer and rapper, 41, was held at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on suspicion of possession of soft drugs.
Update: Fans blame venue - not arrest
She later apologised to fans after eventually landing in Manchester late on Saturday night.
She posted on X: "Thank you to everyone who prayed for me today. May God cover you and all that is connected to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination.
"Please please please accept my deepest & most sincere apologies."
Fans had been let into the indoor venue on Saturday evening despite the star's detention.

A post on the arena's X account said shortly after 5.15pm: "Please note that general admission and premium doors for tonight's Nicki Minaj show will now open at 19:00."
Minaj was later released from custody just before 9pm but she will have to pay an undisclosed fine for "illegally exporting soft drugs from the Netherlands to another country", Dutch police told Sky News.
Despite her release, she was not able to make it to Manchester in time, however, in the early hours of Sunday, Minaj posted a live stream on Instagram from central Manchester, showing a crowd of fans in the street below.
The gig will be moved to a later date with a statement from promoters Live Nation saying: "Tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performance which will be announced ASAP."
It added: "Despite Nicki's best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight's show happen, the events of today have made it impossible. We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused."
In a series of social media posts on X and Instagram, Minaj earlier claimed police said they found drugs in her luggage after items were checked by customs.
She wrote on X that "they said they found weed". She also claimed "they took my luggage without consent" and "they're trying to keep me from MANCHESTER".
The messages also included one where she wrote: "This is Amsterdam btw, where weed is legal."
The star, whose hit songs include Starships, Super Bass and Anaconda, also filmed what appeared to be an airport official asking her to have her luggage checked.
Minaj later wrote: "It's a 45 minute to an hour flight. So they're probably trying to stall for about 4 hours."
And she added: "Now they said I have to go 5 mins away to make a statement about my security to the police precinct."
Asked about Minaj, Robert van Kapel, a spokesman for the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee military police, earlier told Sky News' US partner network NBC News: "We can confirm that we have arrested a 41-year-old American woman at Schiphol Airport because of possession of soft drugs."

Concert-goers 'sobbing' after announcement
Fans of the singer expressed their dismay at the decision to postpone the concert.
"Die-hard Nicki fan" Charu, who had travelled from Liverpool for the show, said the evening was "so ridiculously disappointing".
"My sister and I had been looking forward to this for months. I'm in the middle of taking my medical school exams and I had been working around this day and was so looking forward to it," they said.
"People around us said they'd travelled from Ireland and Scotland, paid for hotels for the night in Manchester, which is not cheap.
"So the fact that tickets will be refunded or still valid for another concert doesn't really put into perspective the time and money that we have all spent on this night."

They added: "Her team surely would have known that the concert tonight was not going to be possible but to wait until 9.30pm to let us know feels disrespectful of our time and efforts."
Charu said that concert-goers were "sobbing" after the announcement, and they will not be getting their hopes up about attending the rescheduled concert.
"Whenever she may postpone it to, it isn't guaranteed that people can take time off work, be able to afford trains, flights, hotels to be able to make it to the show. It's just very disappointing and upsetting."
As part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, Minaj is due to perform in Birmingham on Sunday, followed by a concert at London's O2 arena next Tuesday.
Then on Wednesday, she is due to play in Glasgow followed by a gig on Thursday, again at the Co-op Live in Manchester.

The beleaguered £365m arena - the UK's largest indoor entertainment venue - opened earlier this month after it was plagued by a series of problems.
There had been weeks of setbacks, cancellations and postponements, before live music finally got under way there on 14 May when Manchester rock band Elbow took to the stage .
The problems included part of the building's ventilation and air conditioning system falling to the ground from the ceiling during a soundcheck in early May.
The 23,500-capacity venue was initially due to fully open with two Peter Kay stand-up shows on 23 and 24 April, but these dates were pushed back when problems emerged at a test event headlined by Ricky Astley.
The arena then planned for US rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie to open the arena on 1 May, but it was called off just over an hour before his performance and after doors had opened to fans - because the ventilation system became detached.
The ventilation issue meant scheduled performances by US pop star Olivia Rodrigo and British band Keane were postponed, while a series of shows by Take That were moved to the AO Arena in Manchester.

“We’re adding an additional day to our Home Days -- we only had Saturday and Sunday last year, and we’re bringing back Friday this year.
“The first event will be the 5K and Picnic in the Park on June 8. So we have quite a fun summer planned.”
Wetmore said the events are free to attend and will be entertaining for residents of all ages.

Why some major artists are suddenly canceling shows, and in some cases entire tours
A series of tour cancellations and changes by big-name artists has sparked questions about whether the post-pandemic live music boom could be cooling, as consumer spending fatigue meets elevated ticket prices.
On Friday, Jennifer Lopez announced she was canceling her 2024 tour , citing a desire to spend more time with her family. Meanwhile, the Black Keys announced they were abandoning a stadium tour in favor of a series of shows at smaller venues.
Both tours had recently become the subject of social media fodder, namely screenshots showing empty venues at select tour dates. (NBC News could could not directly verify their authenticity.)
Indeed, some of the evidence of a slowdown is anecdotal. SeatGeek said in an email that the average resale ticket price to attend a summer concert is down to $213 from $257 around this time last year. The company suggested some of the decline could be attributed to the absence of megatours on par with Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” and Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” outings last year.
For artists whose popularity has crescendoed, there appears to be plenty of demand — and high prices. The average resale price for Olivia Rodrigo’s “Guts” tour is $571, and the next-highest is $409 to see Morgan Wallen, according to SeatGeek data first reported by Axios .
Many of those tours are being sold through Ticketmaster and its parent Live Nation. And prior to facing landmark accusations that it is a monopoly , a claim it denies, Live Nation reported its biggest first quarter ever, with $3.8 billion in revenues. Its concerts business alone was up 26% to $2.9 billion, while “estimated fans” globally were up more than 20%, and up 42% in North America.
Yet official government data points to the makings of a return to a more normal pace for live music event sales after a post-pandemic boom. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last month that movie and concert admissions prices climbed just 3.4% year over year through April, the lowest reading since 2021 and the second-consecutive month showing a slowdown.
Dave Clark, editor of Ticket News, which tracks the live entertainment industry, said the period of explosive live music growth following pandemic reopenings may in hindsight be seen as an aberration: People were simply more eager — and more financially able — to go to as many shows as they could after months cooped up indoors.
This year, Clark said, a reckoning may be emerging.
“The days where there was enough demand to sell out arenas at top dollar just isn’t there in this live events economy — outside of people like Taylor Swift who can sell whatever they want wherever they want,” he said.
At a time when many consumers are struggling to pay for basic necessities, he said, “people are seeing some of the prices they’re asking and just saying, ‘Hard pass.’”
Another factor may be a supply issue, Clark added: too many acts trying to tour at once, or too many times. In the pre-streaming era, bands would go on tour as a way of marketing an album. These days, he said, it’s reversed, since the returns on recorded music have shrunk dramatically.
“Now they’re making records to sell the tour,” he said. “That paradigm has a lot to do with it. It’s just a very overloaded market.”
The Black Keys did just release a new album, and its debut single hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart in March.
Still, the rock duo announced it would cancel and reschedule its summer touring plans, switching from arenas to other venues that provide a more “intimate experience,” according to the band. The new dates have not yet been announced.
The Black Keys aren’t the only group that may be falling victim to costly concert fatigue.
Pop-rock band 311 announced it had canceled upcoming European tour dates due to the “rising costs of touring overseas,” which made completing certain portions of the tour “unfeasible.”
Other stars including Pink and Justin Timberlake have also recently canceled specific show dates, while the Jonas Brothers recently postponed their upcoming European tour , though none officially cited financial concerns as reasons for doing so.
“I think with all that competition for fan dollars, it was obviously natural that some artists were going to lose,” said Bill Werde, director of the Syracuse University Bandier Program for Recording and Entertainment Industries.
There are still plenty of large-scale tours planned for this summer that, so far, appear to be unaffected by flagging demand. Hootie & the Blowfish have 48 dates booked this year, while Dave Matthews Band is slated for 34. Other top acts hitting the road include Maroon 5, Zac Brown Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kenny Chesney and Chris Stapleton.
But experts say recent economic trends in the live-music industry, especially the type of consolidation the Justice Department is now targeting, have translated into fewer smaller-sized venues.
That’s made it more difficult for a given tour date to make financial sense for the artist, venue and promoter.
“Some shows, they can’t afford to drop prices; they can’t afford to wait to try to sell out the rest of the building,” Clark said.
If there is uncertainty about all stakeholders being able to at least break even, he said, the show might get canceled.
Such realities have collided with a more circumspect concertgoer. Brittney D’Mello, a 23-year-old K-pop fan from New Jersey who works in corporate marketing, posted to X about her frustrations with the current touring landscape.
“The tickets are too expensive,” D’Mello said. “There’s only a SMALL amount of people (10%) that will spend $500+ on vip/floor/premium,” she said. “The rest of us have budgets and won’t spend $100 on nosebleeds,” she said, referring to seats that are typically the farthest away from the stage.
“Everyone is touring this year … and we only have money for 2-3 concerts MAX,” she added.
In a follow-up interview with NBC News, D’Mello said she simply decided to cap her concert budget.
“I will only go see two artists that are my tried-and-true favorite artists,” she said. “But I won’t be casually going to concerts anymore. And after going to concerts twice, I think that’s where I stop.”

Summer is coming, and so are the outdoor concerts and festivals in Vermont
This article corrects a previous version that misstated the venue for the July 16 concert by Counting Crows.
We got a taste of the summer concert season in early May when the Waking Windows festival in Winooski dedicated a day mostly to alfresco shows. And what a taste it was: blue skies, fresh air and cool tunes have always been a classic combination.
Waking Windows was in mid-spring when Vermont is just starting to warm up. With summer on the verge of arriving, the real outdoor concert season is ready to explode.
We’ve picked a few outdoor festivals and standalone concerts for you to consider attending in Vermont in late spring and all summer, should you be one of those people who likes blue skies, fresh air and cool tunes. And if you’re not one of those people – what the heck is wrong with you?

Not happening - Backside 405
For the second straight year, the Backside 405 concerts presented by Higher Ground behind the Burlington City Arts studios on Pine Street will not be happening. Those outdoor shows were coveted by performance-starved music fans coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and continuing into 2022. Construction at BCA prevented the concerts from happening last year and will again this year. “We were hopeful but the timing of the construction back there effectively knocked out the season,” Higher Ground co-founder Alex Crothers told the Burlington Free Press in an email. He indicated it’s unclear if the series will return next year.

Billie Eilish fans shouldn’t expect three-hour concerts anytime in the near future.
Following the release of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft , the Grammy and Oscar winner took to the music app Stationhead to answer fan questions live.

While Eilish didn’t direct her comments at a particular artist, some Swifties questioned if she was throwing shade at the “Fortnight” singer, who is currently on the European leg of her Eras Tour that runs more than three hours. However, Eilish has previously praised Swift and Beyoncé for their ability to perform long shows.
“I find it really hard to play stadiums,” the “What Was I Made For?” singer told the Los Angeles Times in October 2023. “Beyoncé and Taylor [Swift] are untouchable superstars; the fact that they can put on a show that long, and it’s filled with so many incredible moments, is really amazing.”
Other artists have also been performing hours-long concerts for years, including music legends such as Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney. Last year, on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast , The Beatles singer even said he “blames” Springsteen for increasingly long stage times that artists are expected to play today, compared to back in the ’60s.
Eilish was also asked on the Stationhead app if she planned to include every song from Hit Me Hard and Soft on the set list for her upcoming world tour , which kicks off in September and wraps in July 2025. The “Lunch” singer said that she “can’t do that” because the show would be “like a million years long” due to popular tracks from her previous albums that she plans to perform.
