Table of Contents
Paris, France
One of the most romantic destination in Europe, Paris has a lot of historical landmarks to visit. Well, who doesn’t know the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, right? And the not-as-famous but equally crowd-drawing houseboats along the Seine River, and more. Paris is never too cold in winter, and not too hot in summer. Light rain showers, however, come and go during the day.
The best time to visit Paris is from March, April, to May. Or from June to August.
France is known as the “wine country”. The Louvre (there’s a Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi, by the way) in France is a hit among art enthusiasts. It houses some of the world’s most expensive and famous artworks. The marble statue of Venus de Milo; and Monalisa – the most controversial half-body portrait by Italian painter Leonardo da Vinci.
MusĂ©e d’Orsay on the other, houses the largest collection of classical masterpieces by Monet, Renoir, and other impressionist artists of their time.
Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica
Raring to go on a romantic getaway that’s far from the city buzz and nightlife scene? How about a short vacation to Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica? The Osa Peninsula has in recent years become a center for eco-tourism and conservation. Corcovado National Park is a rich and highly diversified habitat. It’s home to hundreds of thousands caimans, crocodiles, and bull sharks.
Osa Peninsula is a secluded and unspoiled paradise with a scenic view. Its sandy beaches and the diversity of its marine life offer once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for snorkelers and deep divers. Its rolling hills, lush rainforests, mangroves, jungle landscapes, and wildlife provide a breathtaking backdrop for kayaking, horseback riding, and eco-tours. Visit Costa Rica during the dry season (January to April) when it’s reliably sunny.
San Camp, Botswana
San Camp is a cluster of seven white vintage-style canvas tents built beneath the towering gaze of palm trees. Each tent is complete with all the amenities any 5-star hotel room in the city can offer. Except that San Camp isn’t in the city. It’s a campsite where a group of modern “nomads” is gathered on the edge of Makgadikgadi Pan in northeastern Botswana.
The Pan was once a lake that dried up centuries ago and turned into one of the world’s largest salt basins. It’s this very place that provides San Camp guests with a unique desert experience. Through the tents, guests can have a panoramic view of the vast desert.
Makgadikgadi Pan is home to cheeky meerkats, brown hyenas, lions, and ostrich. At the end of a day trip, delicious food is served in the dining pavilion. Or you can opt for an extremely romantic dinner for two under a moonlit night sky. San Camp operates and is available only during the dry season (April to October).
Kerala, India
Kerala is known for its distinct geography – wildlife sanctuaries, mountains, backwaters, pristine beaches, all the canals, and sturdy houseboats cruising along the lagoons. Not to mention the oldest lighthouse (Alappuzha Lighthouse), cave paintings, murals, spices, and other artworks. Such as the kalaripayattu – a centuries-old martial art form that originated from Kerala, which is believed to have influenced modern-day karate.
Idli Sambar is an Indian breakfast meal. It’s a combination of steamed cakes (idli) and sambar – a vegetable stew made of mixed veggies, lentils, herbs, and spices.
Puttu is a breakfast dish made of steamed ground rice and coconut shavings and served with either bananas, palm sugar, chutney, or curried dishes.
Best time for honeymooners to visit is between October to March – when there’s hardly any rain, and the weather isn’t that hot.
Los Cabos, Mexico
Los Cabos is the country’s top destination for tourists. It’s home to Mexico’s award-winning golf courses, state-of-the-art spas, nightclubs, luxury hotels, and resorts. People (even Hollywood celebrities like the Kardashians and the Biebers) who just want to have a quiet relaxation time would choose Los Cabos. For its sandy beaches wide enough for beach lovers to surf and sunbathe, crystal clear waters that are perfect for whale-watching, and plenty of sunshine all year round.
Los Cabos is home to 18 golf courses. No other place in Mexico has the most golf courses – some of which are designed by prominent names in the sport. Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus designed Club Campestre.
High-end hotels and restaurants in Los Cabos offer haute cuisine – crabs, blue marlin, fresh oysters, and other expensive seafood harvested right off Los Cabos’ rich marine resources. But don’t forget to try some of their traditional food: tacos, tamales, tortillas, and enchiladas. The best time to visit is November. The dry season (November to March) however, gives tourists extended time to experience the wonders of Los Cabos.

Best couples' vacations
1. sonoma, ca.
Majestic, lush landscapes, glorious weather, fantastic dining, and the country’s best wineries make California Wine Country not only one of the most romantic getaways in America but also the world over. While many gravitate to Napa, the county and town of Sonoma offer a quieter luxury and maintain a local feel. For the most romantic of accommodations, book a stay at the luxurious Lodge at Sonoma , which offers a spa, pool and several on-site restaurants. It is also within walking distance of the charming shops, tasting rooms and restaurants surrounding Sonoma Plaza. Overall, this Northern California destination is perfect for anniversaries, honeymoons or just some couple-time.
2. Kauai, HI
Of all Hawaiian islands, Kauai gets top billing for its remote setting, secluded beaches , and local feel. While Oahu and Maui may be more cosmopolitan, couples come to Kauai for a more laid-back and rural—not to mention the stunning scenery. For true luxury and romance, book a stay at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay on the North Shore. Romance is around every corner here.
3. Hunter Mountain, NY
Upstate New York has some of the best and most beautiful countryside on the eastern seaboard. The summers are sensational, the fall foliage is fantastic...and come the holiday season, it offers a winter wonderland of snow-coated shenanigans. The adjacent town of Hunter offers a warm, small-town feel, and while it's a far cry from any nearby city, it reminds you of a time when you actually went to local stores to buy essentials and didn't order them through a website. A bygone era indeed. The locals are quite used to visitors, strangers from 'out of town' and 'city folk', so they're friendly and extremely helpful. There are several great places to stay, but we believe the best is the Hunter Mountain Sanctuary , where you can enjoy a roaring open fire, a glass of wine and gaze back at the mountain, be it covered in lush, green vegetation or a smooth blanket of pure white snow. Here you can well and truly switch off...if you want to.
4. Aspen, CO
Snow bunnies who love hitting the slopes for fresh powder in the morning and cuddling up by a raging fire in the evening will find all their winter wonderland dreams come true in Aspen. Couples love Gant Aspen’s luxurious condominiums. Each condo comes with a full kitchen for making romantic meals and a heated outdoor pool. Located at the base of Aspen Mountain , daily skiing and leisure time in historic downtown Aspen are easily within grasp.
5. San Francisco, CA
With its hilly streets, waterfront views, and charming Victorian homes, the City by the Bay is a great place to stroll hand-in-hand and embrace romance. Traverse the famously hilly landscape for stunning views of the bay and skyline while taking delight in all the ways that the city’s history collides with its futuristic, tech-driven present. For a splurge-worthy meal, book a table at a Michelin star restaurant. While there are plenty to choose from, our top pick is Lazy Bear (Two Stars), an iconic San Francisco experience showcasing creative, innovative takes on nostalgic American fare using seasonal Bay Area ingredients. Book a waterfront room at the 1 Hotel San Francisco and end your evening watching the sparkling Bay Bridge in the distance.
6. Savannah, GA
Horse-drawn carriages, Spanish moss, cobblestone streets and antebellum architecture make Savannah one of the South’s most romantic destinations. Lounge on the sandy beach on Tybee Island , then visit the ruins of Wormsloe , Savannah’s oldest standing structure and the 18th-century home of carpenter Noble Jones. A photo together on its oak-lined, moss-shrouded boulevard is the only souvenir you’ll need to bring home.
7. Cape Cod, MA
The eastern peninsula of Massachusetts is one of the East Coast’s finest summer destinations. In Cape Cod , harbors with darling lighthouses, chowder shacks, historic architecture, boats of all varieties, cranberry bogs, windswept beaches and small towns make for a relaxing trip enjoying each other’s company. Head into town for upscale seafood (with generous portions) at Impudent Oyster . Consider booking at Chatham Bars Inn Resort & Spa , which offers 25 acres of ocean-front property as well as amenities like a private beach and a heated oceanfront pool.
8. Woodstock, VT
Escape to Woodstock , an idyllic pastoral haven at this quintessential New England village. A fresh-off-the-fields farmers' market, a general store that dates back to the 1850s, town suppers and some of the most colorful, crisp fall foliage around make this tiny town (population just over 3,000) an off-the-beaten-track destination. For a breakfast or lunch that even locals swear by, grab a rustic table at Mon Vert Café . Here, the coffee is almost as good as the homemade baked goods and the sandwiches are savory delights.
9. Jackson Hole, WY
Whether you can’t get enough skiing in the winter, want to hike across a beautiful Western landscape or are just looking for a nice place to stay and eat before you venture into Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole is for you. With an ultra-modern domed ceiling, romantic lighting, chic decor and a menu heavy on fresh fish, The Kitchen is a favorite date spot in Jackson. Seeking the rustic feel of a cabin but really need modern amenities and accommodations? Book a stay at Spring Creek Ranch , where you’ll enjoy unparalleled views of the mountains in rooms with wood-burning fireplaces and cable television.
10. San Diego, CA
Everyone has heard of San Diego, but not everyone has actually visited. And you should. It's a small city, relatively speaking for the USA, but it's all about location...and it doesn't get much better than this. Situated on the glorious Pacific coast, there are beaches plenty to choose from and the Old Town makes for a fun place to explore to find somewhere good to eat. America's finest city didn't just give itself that moniker and for a significantly slowed-down pace, Southern California's mini-metropolis is hard to top.
11. Scottsdale, AZ
Just twenty minutes outside of Phoenix, Scottsdale beckons couples with an endless number of resorts and spas that invite you to relax and take in the desert sun. For the most romantic resort in the area—Jay Z and Bey's choice on their honeymoon–book a stay at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain . When not lounging or getting pampered, stroll Town, go on a horseback ride, or even book a wine tasting (Arizona wine is up and coming!).
12. New Orleans, LA
New Orleans is particularly fantastic for lovebirds. Partners who can’t agree on what is most important on vacation—sightseeing, excellent food, adventure, or relaxation—will find their perfect compromise when indulging in live jazz music, riverboat rides, strolls through the French Quarter, Cajun food, and ghost tours. Splurge on a stay in the French Quarter at the splendid Audubon Cottages . The private, gorgeously decorated cottages come with plenty of amenities, including butler service, while the shared Tuscan-style courtyard boasts a fabulous salt pool.
13. Charleston, SC
Founded in 1670, Charleston is as historic as it is gorgeous: streets lined with pastel antebellum architecture and an exquisite French quarter. Make sure to stop by the Battery Promenade for views of the Charleston harbor. While appreciating the oozing-with-charm downtown Charleston, stop at the Peninsula Grill . Located off Marketplace, this renowned eatery serves some of the finest elevated Southern food in town.
14. Nantucket, MA
Nantucket , a tiny island off the coast of Cape Cod, positively drips in history. A favorite holiday location for many that could be considered US royalty, including the Kennedys and the Bidens. The island also played a significant role during the age when whaling was common: Moby Dick begins here. And while that doesn't seem like a particularly pleasant period of history, you should remind yourself that at least it wasn't en masse , like it is today. Visit the Egan Maritime Institute & Museum for undoubtedly the best insight into the island's rich history. It also boasts the biggest single collection of work by celebrated marine artist Rodney Charman . The streets have that quaint, colonial feel to them and it truly feels like you've found tranquility. Enjoy the freshly-caught seafood and have a hearty laugh at the property prices.
15. New York City, NY
The Big Apple is not the quietest or most serene city in the world, but that might not be what you're looking for. If you're looking for adventure with your nearest and dearest, this is the place to come. From exploring Manhattan on foot or braving the subway to choosing from a near-infinite number of bars and restaurants that cater to every single conceivable taste. From sauntering through Central Park to strolling alongside the Hudson River. There is a ton of stuff to do here, and let's face facts, with London and Paris taking the number two and three spots, respectively, New York City is the most Christmassy place you can visit on the planet, with the only exception being Santa's actual grotto in the North Pole.
16. Los Angeles, CA
The City of Angels is actually a sight to behold. It's as unique as every other major metropolitan city in the U.S., and the palm trees, blue skies, wide open spaces, and beautiful, endless sandy beaches make it a fun place to check out. If you're a movie or TV buff, then so much the better, but...you don't have to be. Explore Santa Monica and Venice, where there are a lot of great restaurants and bars, plus shopping in Beverly Hills, walking in the hills, cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway or along Mulholland Drive, or hiking up to the Hollywood sign and gazing down upon the city lights below.
17. Miami, FL
While many destinations in Florida are reputed tourist-heavy, there’s something to be said about Miami ’s vibrant art scene. Worry not: Plenty of beaches and fantastic pools will satisfy your hunger for some tanning time. Ready to splurge on dinner ? Tropical plants, twinkling lights and so much romance , Komodo Miami is a sexy choice for enjoying high-end Asian fare.

27 Best Vacation Spots for Every Type of Couple
By Siobhan Reid
The best vacation spots for couples are steeped in timeless romance. Whether itâs a cruise down the Nile or a saunter through sultry Buenos Aires, some places have simply mastered the art of seduction.  Â
Still, no vacation is one size fits all, and while some couples want to escape to the golden sands of the Caribbean, other peopleâs idea of romance might look like a getaway to South Africaâs wine country, or seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland.
So, how to plan a romantic getaway tailor-made for two? âMy favorite piece of advice is to leave room for spontaneity,â says luxury travel advisor Amina Dearmon, the founder and owner of Perspectives Travel . âOur lives are already so over-scheduled, itâs important to have the freedom to do absolutely nothing and enjoy each otherâs company, no matter which destination you choose.â Â
For domestic trips , she loves the wellness-focused resorts in Arizona like Canyon Ranch Tucson  and the soon-to-reopen Mii Amo . As for international destinations, she recommends the Caribbean islands of Anguilla, Dominica, and St. Lucia, as well as Venice, Italy. And if youâre going to splurge, Dearmon suggests balling out on your accommodations (âItâs your home away from homeâ) and opting for extras like VIP meet and greets at the airport (âItâs a service that makes up a small percentage of your total trip cost, but it can make the biggest difference in your travel day.â).
To get a jumpstart on your planning, here are the 27 best vacation spots for couples, whether you crave a blissed-out spa getaway, a culinary vacation, or an adventure-packed itinerary.Â

Poolside at Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel, Anguilla
Ballotine de coÌte de veau au foie gras, mousseline de carotte des sables at La Co(o)orniche, Pyla-Sur-Mer
For stretching out on the sand
Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel, Anguilla
For beach bliss, cookbook author and âTop Chefâ judge Gail Simmons recommends a romantic getaway to Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel on Anguilla. âCap Julucaâs beach is as pristine as it gets, with its long strip of powder-white sand, crystal clear water, and views of St. Maarten in the distance,â she says. âPlus, you never have to fight for a beach chair or show up super early, since thereâs plenty of room and the staff always has an umbrella set up before youâve even arrived.â When Simmons and her husband werenât lounging on golden sands, they went paddleboarding, hit the tennis court, enjoyed massages at the spa, and even went on a snorkeling excursion. The highlight was all the quality time the pair spent together: âI loved how private and remote Cap Juluca felt,â says Simmons. âAt times it felt like we were on our very own island.âÂ
La Co(o)orniche, Pyla-Sur-Mer
What could be more romantic than waking up to views of Europeâs biggest sand dune? At this Philippe Starck-designed hotel in the seaside resort of Pyla-sur-Mer, couples enjoy panoramic views of Arcachon Bay and the mesmerizing Dune du Pilat from their beachy-chic guestrooms. Most visitors flock to the area to climb the magnificent dune, which rises 374 feet above sea level, but we wonât blame you for lazing on the sandy beach, breathing in the head-clearing scent of the pine forest.
Fernando De Noronha, Brazil
Brazil is spoiled for choice when it comes to beautiful beaches. But youâd be hard-pressed to find a place more blessed with natural beauty than Fernando de Noronho, a volcanic archipelago about 220 miles off the northeast coast of Brazil. Perhaps the dreamiest spot to spend the day with your significant other is Baia do Sancho, on the archipelagoâs main island. The protected cove is the picture of earthly paradise, with forest-covered cliffs and azure waters home to colorful fish, dolphins, and sea turtles. Â
Con Dao Archipelago, Vietnam
Looking for beachside seclusion? Skip Vietnamâs over-trammeled Phu Quoc and head to the isolated Con Dao archipelago instead. The remote islands are perfect for privacy-seekers: 83 percent of the archipelago is protected by the Con Dao National Park. The most luxurious place to lay your head is the Six Senses Con Dao , an eco-resort backed by the Lo Voi Mountains and located on a mile-long private beach. Itâs worth peeling yourself away from your seaside villa for a guided hike along the coast to Dam Tre Bay, arguably the archipelagoâs most photogenic beach, with forested hills and dramatic granite cliffs.
Tofino, Canada
For couples seeking rugged natural beauty and mist-shrouded coastal landscapes, itâs hard to top Tofino on Vancouver Island. The windswept town has no shortage of beaches primed for romance: Stroll hand in hand along the 10-mile Long Beach, enjoy a picnic with views of Clayoquot Sound at Tonquin Beach, or take a coupleâs surf lesson at Cox Bay Beach. And while there are plenty of beautiful Airbnbs available to rent, the oceanfront Wickaninnish Inn âone of Canadaâs most legendary hotelsâepitomizes bucket-list romance.Â
 Anse Source dâArgent Seychelles
Thereâs a reason Prince William and Kate Middleton honeymooned in the Seychelles. The Indian Ocean archipelago offers island romance par excellence, with luxurious resorts, off-the-grid adventures, and, of course, stunning beaches, the most famous being the Anse Source dâArgent on La Digue. It really doesnât get more photogenic than this iconic stretch of sand, known for its shallow waters, imposing granite boulders, and swaying coconut palms. For a less-crowdedâbut no less picturesque optionâhike three hours to Anse Marron, a remote beach on the southern tip of La Digue. Â
The Retreat at Blue Lagoon, Iceland Â
For spa treatments and meditative moments
The Retreat at Blue Lagoon, Iceland  Â
By Paris Wilson
By Mary Holland
By Juliet Izon
By Kyler Alvord
There are few destination spas as singular as this 62-suite hotel , built into an 800-year-old lava field on the southwest side of Icelandâs famous lagoon. Itâs an otherworldly place to spend a few days, kicking back in the Scandi-chic guestrooms, soaking in the thermal hot springs, and indulging in a seven-course chefâs tasting menu at the lagoon-level restaurant. You and your partner will feel weightless as you float in the mineral-rich waters, looking out at the surreal moss-fringed landscape. If youâre lucky, the Northern Lights may even dance across the sky.
One&Only Mandarina, Mexico
Author and interior designer Athena Calderone fell head over heels for One&Only Mandarina , a destination resort on Riviera Nayaritâs wild Pacific Coast. âThe spa was an absolute dreamâthe entire experience was luxurious and elegant,â she says, referencing an all-natural Tata Harper facial that left her glowing. She also loved the treehouse accommodations and the resortâs intimate dining options, like the open-air Alma restaurant helmed by French-Mexican chef Olivier Deboise. âThe property is the perfect respite for couples,â she says.
Six Senses Fort Barwara, Rajasthan Â
Give your loved one the royal treatment at this 14 th -century fort turned 48-suite hotel . Commanding a hilltop perch above Barwara Lake, the thoughtfully restored complex channels the glamor of a bygone era. Splurge on the Raja Man Singh Pool Suite, which features a pool and garden enclosed within a turret and views of the Chauth ka Barwara Mandir Temple and the Aravali hills. There are daily wellness activities like sunrise yoga and traditional puja  ceremonies at sunset. But for the ultimate indulgence, retreat to the 30,000-square-foot spa for stress-relieving shirodhara treatments and cutting-edge biohacking therapies.
Troutbeck, New York
At this sophisticated country manor in New Yorkâs Hudson Valley, itâs all about communing with nature while enjoying luxe amenities (deep-soaking tubs, fireplaces, and Frette linens). Robust wellness programming rounds out the itinerary, with activities like pilates classes in a high-ceilinged barn, private tennis lessons at the food of Oblong Mountain, and cycling adventures along the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. Itâs the perfect weekend getaway for active couplesâbut the 38-room hotel is just as suited for relaxation. Stroll through the formal gardens, sign up for acupuncture treatments or massage, and if the weatherâs nice, hang out by the swimming pool under the shade of sycamore trees.Â
Capella Ubud, Bali Â
This riverside jungle camp in Baliâs lush Keliki Valley is a favorite destination among honeymooners , but trust us, itâs far too special to only visit once in your lifetime. The setting is truly sublime, with 23 tented rooms spread over a terraced hillside flanked by paddy fields and dense rainforest. At the Auriga Spa , treatments draw on ancient Balinese and Hindu healing traditions and are accompanied by the sounds of the rainforest. More adventurous couples can go trekking through the Keliki rice paddies or sign up for a G.I Jungle outdoor training session.
A cruise down the Nile RiverÂ
For more than one adrenaline rush
Glacier treks and hair-raising hikes in Patagonia, Argentina
End-of-the-world landscapes and out-of-this-world adventures are all part of the experience in Argentinian Patagonia. Thrill-chasers should strap on their ice shoes and trek along the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier, a vast shield of ice whose surface is slightly larger than Buenos Aires, while wildlife lovers can glimpse giant Humpback whales, penguins, and sea lions in Ushuaia, South Americaâs southernmost city. For the ultimate bonding experience, attempt the 13-mile Laguna de Los Trek hike in El Chalten, which will bring you to the foot of the mighty Mount Fitz Roy.Â
Wildlife sightings and outdoor adventures in Arenal Volcano National Park Costa Rica
The beauty of Costa Ricaâs Arenal Volcano National Park is that you can do as muchâor as littleâas you want and still have a great time. This is especially true of couples who choose to bed down at the adults-only Nayara Springs , a collection of luxurious private villas with plunge pools, gardens, outdoor showers, and show-stopping views of the Arenal Volcano. Off-property adventures include white-water rafting expeditions down the Sarapiqui River, visits to the 195-foot waterfall in the Arenal Hanging Bridges Park, and a photo tour of the lava fields.
A luxury train âsafariâ through Namibia Â
The best way to explore the vast, sun-baked desert of Namibia? By train, of course! On a nine-night safari journey with the ultra-glamorous Rovos Rail , you and your partner will traverse some of the countryâs most dramatic landscapes, including the Succulent Karoo desert, the red dunes of the Sossusvlei dry lake, and the Walvis Bay tidal lagoon. Youâll make plenty of stops along the way, so you can fully appreciate the wide-open views and snap photos of the wildlife. To travel in style, splurge on the wood-paneled Royal Suite sleeper coach.
Dude ranch adventures in Utah
Studies show that couples who actively try new things together are less likely to fall into a rut. Well, we donât know about you, but we canât think of a better relationship-building exercise than learning the âart of cowboyingâ at Utahâs Lodge at Blue Sky, Auberge Resorts Collection . Set on a 3,500-acre private working ranch a half-hour from Salt Lake City, the hotel offers a range of equine adventures suited for amateurs and experienced riders alikeâinstruction in English riding, rides through the flower-covered meadows of the Wasatch Mountains, and even a breathwork session in the stable.Â
A road trip along Australiaâs Great Ocean Road Â
The open road offers complete spontaneity and freedom of choiceâthe perfect option for couples who like to leave extra room for scenic detours. For the ultimate road trip itinerary, set your sights on Australiaâs Great Ocean Road, a 150-mile stretch that winds around the countryâs scenic southern coast. Says Stuart Rigg, owner of Southern Crossings Australia : âThe Great Ocean Road offers captivating landscapes, charming seaside towns, fabulous food and wine experiences, and great opportunities to get outdoors with the one you love.â While he notes that the route is best known for its iconic limestone rock formations like the iconic 12 Apostles, he notes that there are plenty of other photo ops and attractions along the way. Among them: towering Californian Redwoods in Otway National Park, the Kennett River Koala Walk, and the highly-award Wickens restaurant at the Royal Mail Hotel.Â
A cruise down the Nile River Â
Egyptâs Nile River is so mythical, even Cole Porter crooned about it in his love songs. To cruise it in style, opt for a six-day itinerary with Nour el Nil on a traditional flat-bottomed dahabiya  sailboat. As you journey from Esna to Aswan, you and your sweetheart will float past reed-covered banks, the dunes of the Sahara, and ancient monuments like the Gebel El Silsila Temple that other large ships canât reach.Â
A heirloom and beetroot variation at OdetteÂ
For unforgettable meals (and wine lists)
Napa Valley, California  Â
Wine tastings, hot-air balloon rides, pilgrimage-worthy dining, chic boutique hotels. No place does romance quite like Napa Valley. And while you could easily spend weeks discovering the regionâs wineries and restaurants, there are a few spots that couples shouldnât miss. At Sullivan Rutherford Estate, enjoy a private Cab Sauv tasting and tour of the sculpted gardens before settling in for a nine-course tasting menu at Thomas Kellerâs lauded French Laundry. Or swing by Gottâs Roadside to pick up a milkshake and old-fashioned burger before catching the sunset at Skyline Wilderness Park. The recently reborn Poetry Inn is probably the regionâs most swoon-worthy stay, with just five rooms boasting vineyard views, sweeping private terraces, and soaking tubs.
The Lake District, England
The English Lake District has long attracted outdoor enthusiasts who come to scale the U.K.âs highest peaks But in recent decades, the verdant region in northwest England has emerged as a gastronomic hotspot. It all started in 2002 when British chef Simon Roganâone of the pioneers of the farm-to-table movementâopened his now-famous LâEnclume in the quaint village of Cartmel. The three-starred Michelin restaurant is known for putting inventive spins on classic dishes using organic produce from Roganâs 12-acre farm. Since then, plenty of other high-end restaurants have set up shop, like the acclaimed British-Asian Blackbull  in Sedbergh and the Old Stamp House in Ambleside. Now the region has become somewhat of a food pilgrimage, popular among couples craving haute cuisine and gastronomic-centered hotels like Linthwaite House and Our Rooms by LâEnclume .Â
Emilia Romagna, Italy
Every corner of Italy has something to offer from a culinary perspective. But only the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna can lay claim to 44 DOP food products including Parmigiano Reggiano, tortellini, and ragĂč bolognese. Begin your eatathon in the regionâs capital, Bologna. With only one Michelin-starred restaurant in the entire city (yes, really), couples will have to do their own research, strolling the cityâs grand porticos in search of the best osteria and trattorias. From Bologna, the options are limitless: visit family-run vinegar producers in Modena; try Culatello, the most prestigious of all cured meats, in Parma; and develop a taste for Lambrusco in Reggio Emilia. And for a no-expenses-spared date night out, thereâs only one place to know about: Massimo Botturaâs renowned Osteria Francescana in Modena.Â
As a melting pot of Chinese, Malay, and Indian cultures, Singapore is one of the worldâs great food citiesâand a real feast for travelers hungry for food and  culture. And sure, there are temples of fine dining galore (weâre looking at you, Odette ), but some of the cityâs best bites come from unassuming local vendors at the cityâs legendary hawker centers. At the Chinatown Complex Food Centre, sample everything from fragrant laksa soup and Chinese steamed buns to piping-hot clay pot rice. For date night, make reservations at the renowned Atlas Bar , a vaulted space with Art Deco flair and the worldâs largest gin collection. Even the cityâs Jewel Changi Airport is a culinary wonderland with 100+ eateries, allowing couples to make the most of their every meal in the food-obsessed city.Â
South Africaâs Wine Country Â
From stunning Cape Dutch-style architecture and world-class restaurants to luxurious wine country hotels, South Africaâs wine country is truly suited to all tastes. After checking in at Delaire Graff Estates , a boutique hotel and winery near Stellenbosch, toast to your romantic getaway with a bottle of mĂ©thode cap classique (South Africaâs version of Champagne). Youâll want to set aside a few days to go wine tasting in Stellenbosch and the neighboring regions Franschhoek, Paarl, and Constantia, where the grape to seek out is Pinotage, South Africaâs flagship variety. For a vacation memory thatâll age like fine wine, splurge on the tasting menu at Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia . Â
For art and culture around every corner
Itâs no secret that the French capital is a cultural powerhouse. But itâs not always easy to escape the crowds and enjoy the cultural treasures for yourselfâor is it? According to the uber-stylish Parisian hoteliers Anouk and Louis Solanet of Orso hotel group, there are plenty of lesser-known gems even in popular neighborhoods like Montmartre (you just need to know where to look). One of the coupleâs favorite spots is the MusĂ©e de la vie Romantique , a literary museum situated at the base of Montmartre and set within the former house of Dutch painter Ary Scheffer. âWe love to sit in silence in the hidden garden, which smells of roses and lilacs,â says Anouk. Afterwards, they recommend grabbing a drink at Hotel Rochechouart âs rooftop, which offers dead-on views of the SacrĂ© Coeur. On the Left Bank, the couple loves strolling through the Jardin du Luxembourg and on to Rue Notre-Dame-des-Champs, one of the streets that inspired Woody Allenâs Midnight in Paris,  and finally to the Giacometti FoundationââA jewel of Parisian museum,â says Louisâwhich is dedicated to the life and work of the famous Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti.Â
Lausanne, Switzerland
Switzerlandâs fourth-largest city is straight out of a fairytale, with a medieval Old Town and vertiginous streets that rise above the shimmering waters of Lake Geneva. Itâs also one of the countryâs most underrated arts hubs, thanks to the recent opening of Platforme 10 , a striking new art district home to three of the cityâs major art museums. For couples who prefer to see art en plein air, go on a cultural scavenger hunt to locate 82 works scattered throughout the hillside city (donât miss Clelia Bettuaâs sculptural weather vane at the Port of Ouchy). To cap off a perfect day, catch a show at the newly modernized ThĂ©Ăąre de Vidy before retiring at the HĂŽtel Royal Savoy Lausanne , a grand castle-like property that wouldnât be out of place in a Wes Anderson flick. The hotel has a sublime spa, a rooftop terrace overlooking the lake, and an unbeatable location near all the top cultural spots.Â
Buenos Aires
Is there a city sexier than Buenos Aires? Thereâs something sultry about Argentinaâs capital, from its dimly-lit tango bars and balmy weather to its heady mix of South American and European influences. After catching a tango performance at the cityâs best-known milonga, La Catedral , continue your cultural immersion at the Teatro Colon âone of the worldâs most beautiful opera housesâwhere Igor Stravinsky has performed, Rudolph Nureyev has danced, and Maria Callas has sung. From there, itâs a short walk to El Ateneo Grand Splendid , a bookstore occupying a former theater and featuring century-old ceiling frescos. But to really feel the spirit of the city, couples should spend an afternoon in the colorful La Boca neighborhood, where there are vibrant murals, live music, and views of the Riachuelo River.
Venice, Italy Â
âVenice is pure magic,â says Amina Dearmon of Perspectives Travel. âI love being able to wander the streets, stop at an osteria for an Aperol Spritz, and watch the sunset from the Accademia Bridge.â Like so many Italian cities, Venice is like an open-air museum, brimming with art and culture at every turn. Its narrow streets and atmospheric squares are packed with heavy-hitting institutions, too, like the Peggy Guggenheim Collection , the Dogeâs Palace , and the Palazzo Caâ Pesaro . First-time visitors shouldnât miss a side trip to Murano, the second-largest island in the Venetian lagoon, to learn about its long tradition of glassmaking at the Venice Glass Museum .Â
The former imperial capital of Japan is home to more than a dozen UNESCO World Heritage Sites and some 2,000 Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. In any other city, the sheer volume of culture would be head-spinning. But in Kyoto, itâs a pleasure to stroll around the peaceful temple gardens, traditional teahouses, and ancient storefronts, feeling transported to an earlier time. Top landmarks include the famous orange torii gates at the Fushimi Inari shrine, the celebrated Kiyomizu Temple, and the impressive Nijo Castle. If the budget allows, spend the night at the new Aman Kyoto , a sanctuary-like retreat set on 80 acres of hilly woodland in the north of the city, a stoneâs throw from the golden Kinkaku-ji Temple. Â

Best Travel Destinations For Couples Who Love Nature
Covering nearly 4 million square miles, and unifying 50 different states, the US has lots to offer travel loving couples, especially those who love nature.
There are 58 National Parks across America, some more famous than others, but all are stunning and beautiful in their own rights.
Whether you choose to visit one of the most well known parks like Yellowstone, Grand Canyon or Yosemite, or some of the lesser known ones, such as Great Basin in Nevada or the Volcano National Park in Hawaii , youâre sure to escape into a world of incredible natural beauty wherever you go.
Similarly to the USA, Canada is also vast in size and home to over 45 National Parks.
Some of the most spectacular nature spots in Canada include popular Niagara Falls in Ontario, stunning Banff National Park in Alberta and practically anywhere throughout British Columbiaâs coastal and mountainous regions.
Be sure to look out for moose, bears and the Northern Lights throughout your Canadian adventure!
Whether you enjoy relaxing beach trips, underwater adventures or day hikes, Croatia in the Baltics is home to a lot of natural beauty.
Perhaps one of the most popular (and beautiful) natural spots in Croatia is UNESCO World Heritage Site, Plitvice National Park. Here, youâll find gushing waterfalls, woodland walks and tranquil lakes.
Other top nature spots in Croatia include Krka National Park, which is also home to magnificent waterfalls, as well as the Southern Dalmatian islands and the coastal city of Split.

The tiny Portuguese archipelago of Madeira is not most travellerâs first choice when it comes to nature travel, or any type of travel when it comes to it.
And yet – with year-round spring-like temperatures , mountainous viewpoints, volcanic rock pools and an interesting culture – itâs hard to understand why.
Some of the best nature spots and top things to do in Madeira include the Laurissilva forest, Queimadas Forest Park, the volcanic rock pools at Porto Moniz, Pico do Arieiro and the levada walks.
At just 309.3 square miles, itâs really easy to see the best of Madeira in just 1 or 2 weeks by car. However, it can be quite challenging to drive in Madeira. The good news is that there are plenty of ways to get around Madeira , such as frequent coach tours and an easy to use bus network.

Home to towering waterfalls, sprawling volcanic fields and bubbling hot springs , Iceland is swiftly becoming one of the worldâs most popular nature travel destinations.
The most popular spots can usually be found within Icelandâs Golden Circle , which makes them easy to see and get to by car or as part of a group tour.
These include Thingvellir National Park , Gullfoss and the Geysir Hot Spring Area.
But you should also make an effort to head to the south coast in search of incredible waterfalls and black sand beaches.
6. New Zealand
Covering two large islands and over 100,000 square miles, New Zealand is quite possibly one of the most heavily sought after destinations for outdoor adventures and nature travel.
While you can explore glow worm caves, heavenly beaches, natural hot springs and New Zealandâs largest lake on the North Island, the South Island is home to New Zealandâs best wine regions, as well as glaciers, epic mountain ranges and even a ‘Dark Sky Reserve’.
Although youâll need several weeks to see the best of New Zealandâs nature, this is one adventure youâll be unlikely to forget any time soon!
Found near the Eastern coast of Africa and close to Mauritius, RĂ©union island isnât often considered by travellers.
But for those of you who venture off the beaten path in search of the islandâs best nature spots, will be met with dramatic waterfalls, sparkling lagoons, pristine beaches and tropical jungle treks.
One quick search on Pinterest or Google Images for photos of Bali presents endless reels of lush green rice fields, tropical jungles, bright blue oceans and endless blue or pink skies.
The epitome of exotic nature, Bali in Indonesia is most known for its volcanic mountains, tropical jungles, rice paddies, sandy beaches, colourful coral reefs and incredible underwater adventures. It’s a total bucket list destination !
Not to mention the nearby Gili Islands are ridiculously beautiful too – especially the honeymoon island of Gili Meno !

Often overlooked in preference of far flung and far more exotic locations, itâs often forgotten just how much natural beauty there is right here in the UK .
From the seemingly bottomless meres, tarns and waters of the Lake District , to the mountainous peaks of Scotland and Wales, beautiful Cornish beaches , shaded canopies of the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks and even the northern part of the âEmerald Green Isleâ itself, youâre sure to find somewhere in the Great British Outdoors well worth exploring.
Just come prepared for unpredictable weather year-round!
10. Tanzania
No list of the best nature travel destinations would be complete without mentioning an exotic safari.
Africa is – by far – one of the most popular destinations for animal lovers, and while the continent is home to many safari parks, Tanzania along the East coast is home to some of the absolute best.
From the classic savannah destinations of the Serengeti, to chimpanzee trekking in the tropical rainforests of Gombe, big five safari experiences in stunning Ngorongoro Crater and even the colourful coral reefs of nearby Zanzibar island, a Tanzanian safari is sure to be the most magical.
Best Travel Destinations For Couples Who Love Culture
Thanks to its multiple millennia of history, as well as Buddhism and Shintoism influences, Japan has one of the richest cultures in the world.
The country is home to exquisite and highly detailed temples of worship, traditional Geisha performers and exemplary calligraphy artwork.
While Tokyo presents a more modern front, the old capital of Kyoto is where to go if you truly want to experience some of Japanâs best and most authentic culture.
France has been at the forefront of the art world for centuries.
Some of the worldâs most well-known painters and sculptors have come from France including Monet, Degas and Van Gogh to name just a few.
Today, France (particularly Paris ) continues to be the perfect destination for art lovers. Its capital city is home to the infamous (and sprawling) Louvre museum, as well as MusĂ©e d’Orsay, Centre Pompidou, Paris Museum of Modern Art and Palais de Tokyo.
Greek history spans millennia. Particularly the Ancient Greek era from 1100 BC to 146 BC is one of the most talked about in history lessons across the world.
Greeceâs history has been a key influencer in many modern-day notions including democracy, the Olympics and even Disney movies, which have so often been based on Greek myths and legends.
Today, you can marvel at where it all started, thanks to the preserved ruins of the Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens, Temple of OIympian Zeus and many more tourist hotspots throughout the country and on neighbouring islands like Cyprus .
Similarly to Greece, Italy and the Ancient Roman period of history is a well versed subject in schools.
Responsible for the concept of aqueducts, bathing and cleaning rituals, and wrapped up in Roman mythology, thereâs no denying that venturing to Italy where it all began is the perfect trip for couples who love history.
Although youâll find Italyâs history built into cities throughout the country, some of the best ones to visit include Rome , Pompeii, Verona and Florence .
Having once been home to many settlements, not least the Vikings, Romans and Anglo-Saxons, the UK has so much history ingrained into its towns and cities.
Also, the UK has experienced many interesting periods of history since those earlier times as well, such as various monarchies and regencies, as well as industrialisation.
For those of you who are interested in ancient history, you should venture to towns and cities ending in either âcesterâ, âcasterâ, âceisterâ, or âchesterâ, as these were all originally built as Roman camps. Some of the best examples include Gloucester, Chester , Leicester and Doncaster, while you canât possibly miss a day trip to Bath to see the original Roman baths and pump rooms.
For those interested in royal history and the regency period, visits to London, Cheltenham and Brighton are not to be missed.
You should also make it your mission to drive around the Cotswolds as you can see quaint villages, thatched cottages and stone ruins synonymous with the Middle Ages here.
This 10 day UK trip itinerary should give you a good idea of where to go! >>>
The Chinese culture spans over 5,000 years. Thereâs such a richness when it comes to the countryâs heritage that this alone is one of the many reasons why the country frequently attracts over 90 million visitors every year.
From marvelling at the myriad temples of worship and spiritual rituals, to learning more about the various dynasties in Chinaâs history, as well as its porcelain, pottery and art influences, China is an incredible place to visit for culture lovers.
For a glimpse into Chinaâs historic past, Beijing, Xiâan and Pingyao will be calling out to you, while a trip to Shanghai uncovers Chinaâs future.
17. Austria
Thanks to world famous Austrian composers like Strauss, Mozart and Beethoven, Austria has really been put on the map when it comes to classical music and the opera.
Cities like Salzburg and Vienna are awash with opera houses, while a trip to the opera or to see a classical music performance frequently top tourist lists everywhere.
Alongside music, Austria is also great for architecture. Vienna, in particular, is full of neoclassical and baroque-style buildings and palaces , which are both grand and opulent in their appearance.
Many extraordinary and traditional dances have sprung up in Spain over the years.
Among the most popular and well-known is flamenco, while other dances like the paso doble, bolero and fandango have frequently been included in worldwide dance competitions and movies.
Alongside dancing, Spain is also home to an interesting architecture scene. The medieval city of Seville and the gothic and other worldly city of Barcelona are two cities in particular that call out to architecture lovers.
Although Cuba is slowly becoming more modern thanks to the car import ban being lifted in 2013, it remains one of the most extraordinary places to visit if you love culture.
For a start, itâs like stepping back in time as the island is still full of 1950s vintage cars. These are juxtaposed against bright and colourful architecture, making for perfect Instagram shots and memories.
Music also plays a key part in the Cuban culture. Many of the sounds youâll hear around the country today have been adapted from other musically-rich cultures, such as Spanish guitars or Afro-Cuban jazz.
Walking the streets of Cuba will often present itself with extraordinary dancers and street festivals centred around music and dance.
From temples and places of worship associated with Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism, to elaborate wedding traditions and rituals , as well as world-renowned festivals like Diwali and Holi, a trip to India (even a short one) is sure to uncover its rich heritage and culture.
Whether youâre marvelling at its intricate architecture, watching uplifting music and dance performances, or immersing yourself in the varied religions, India really knows how to open up and allow you to embrace their way of life⊠regardless of where you choose to visit in the country.
Of all the countries to visit for history lovers, Egypt just has to be up there.
The Pyramids of Giza are known the world over, as are the treasures that lie (or used to lie) within them.
Thereâs a reason why so many of our ancestors ventured inside the pyramids in search of gold, hieroglyphs and mummified Pharaohs. Although they may have been risking the wrath of curses placed on the tombs, they allowed us all to get a glimpse of the wonders inside.
Today, most visitors head to either Cairo or Giza (or both), which are conveniently located near to each other. But the city of Alexandria is also well worth a visit as itâs often considered to be the birthplace of literature and philosophy.
Best Travel Destinations For Couples Who Love City Breaks
The French capital of Paris is frequently referred to as the âCity of Lightsâ or the âCity of Loveâ, making it the very essence of romance for couples who love city breaks.
Whether you have one night, three nights or an entire week to explore Paris, pretty Parisian patisseries , the majestic Eiffel Tower, educational museums, sprawling art galleries and serene gardens are just some of the things that will be calling to you during your trip.
Vienna, Austriaâs capital is the epitome in stunning architecture and is one for the history-loving, architecture-admiring, fairy-tale loving couples among you.
Everywhere you look, the incredible baroque and neoclassical architecture will be gazing down on you, making your mind wander off to fairy tales, castles and magical kingdoms.
Check out our 3 day Vienna itinerary for tips on what to see! >>>
Found within the northern Veneto region in Italy and considered to be the birthplace of Shakespeareâs Juliet, Verona is so synonymous with romance that itâs a must visit for city break-loving couples.
A trip to Verona so often involves delicious Italian food, historic Roman ruins and romantic walks along the many rivers and canals.
Although this might be more of a slow paced approach to travel, youâll enjoy every minute!
25. Amsterdam
The quirky city of Amsterdam, found in the Netherlands, is an enjoyable city break for couples intent on visiting interesting museums and art galleries together, while taking full advantage of Amsterdamâs relaxed approach towards erotica and drugs.
And when you can also combine this with romantic walks along the 31 miles of canals and a few historical and cultural exhibits, your city break to Amsterdam is bound to be unforgettable.
As one of the major cities in Ireland, Dublin offers a lot of variety to its visitors.
From drives and hikes out in the neighbouring countryside, to walks around historic Dublin, and epic half day trips from Dublin , thereâs a lot on offer here.
And when you can also combine this with a naughty sip (or few) of Guinness, then youâre bound to have lots of fun with your travelling partner during this fun and relaxed city break .
Rome is a very popular city break option as itâs a place of great food, interesting history and offers plenty to see and do – whether you have one weekend to spare or just one day.
Weâd recommend staying in Rome for at least 3 days in order to see the best of it.
Top tourist highlights include the Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City and Palatine, while the various âPiazzasâ like Piazza Navona are perfect for whiling away a couple of hours people watching and eating gelato in the sun.
Berlin is one of Germanyâs hippest and trendiest cities, but has an astonishing and gruesome history.
During this city break, youâll both enjoy learning more about this extraordinary city and its various histories, including that of WWII and the fall of the Berlin Wall .
And at night, youâll also enjoy visiting some of the many bars and clubs on offer here. Thereâs a reason Berlin is so popular with young 20-somethings!
Have fun dancing the night away, followed by more subdued and respectful sightseeing during the day.
The UKâs capital city is great to visit in its own right with lots of interesting museums, art galleries, theatre shows, palaces and gardens to explore.
However, itâs also a great base for anyone interested in seeing the âGreat British Countrysideâ as well.
Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Essex and Kent are all reachable within an hour or two from London in case youâre after an interesting day trip during your London city break.
30. Barcelona
Barcelona in Spain brings something a little different to a coupleâs city break.
Not only can you marvel at interesting architecture, such as Gaudiâs Sagrada FamĂlia, and visit contemporary museums and art galleries, but you can also chill on one of the cityâs many beaches.
So if sun, sea and sand coupled with Sangria and sublime architecture is your bag, then Barcelona is the city break for you.
31. Brussels
Weâve recently discovered the wonders of Brussels, Belgiumâs hip political gem, and we loved our city break so much that it just had to make it onto the list.
You can easily see the cityâs many highlights in a long weekend as they are frequently found close to the city centre and the infamous gilded buildings of Grand-Place.
During your visit, you should make an effort to try original Belgian chocolates and head out on a street art walking tour .
And if you have a little more time, try visiting one of Belgiumâs many other nearby cities such as Bruges , Antwerp and Ghent by train.

You may notice that these first city break recommendations are all in Europe. While the best city breaks are often in Europe due to the continent having lots of small cities that are easy to get around in, there are plenty of other cities around the world that can be enjoyed as a city break too.
32. Los Angeles
Found on the West Coast of the USA, Los Angeles is most famous for its connection with Hollywood and the movie industry.
Admittedly, many of the cityâs hotspots focus around this such as the boardwalk stars , Universal Studios and iconic Hollywood sign.
But perhaps lesser known to some first time visitors is LAâs stunning beaches, pretty canals and quaint marina.
Aim to spend 3 days here venturing out on both the well beaten and not so beaten track.
33. San Francisco
Another of the USAâs popular West Coast cities is San Francisco.
Whereas LA is closer to what you think of when you imagine California, San Francisco is like the black sheep of the family.
Often witnessing a bizarre fog that descends over the city – locals fondly nickname it âKarl the Fogâ – San Francisco isnât where youâll come for sunbathing but is where youâll come when in need of a trendy city break in the US.
Just like LA, youâll want to spend at least 3 days exploring all the sights at a leisurely pace.
Did you know? Both Los Angeles and San Francisco are great stopovers on your way to or from Hawaii. We actually did both to help break up the long flights out to Oahu and The Big Island!
Although not the capital city of Australia, Sydney is – by far – one of the countryâs most popular cities to visit.
A long weekend in Sydney means you can spend a few days exploring its bustling harbour, stunning beaches and myriad parks and gardens.
Afterwards, you could choose to see more of Australia or venture further afield such as to New Zealand, Bali or the Philippines.
35. New York City
Found right across the other side of the US from Los Angeles and San Francisco is New York City – aka âThe Big Appleâ.
Although youâll need more time to see the best of New York – four or five days is the ideal city break here – you wonât be disappointed by just how much you can see and do.
Wander through sprawling Central Park. Traipse around huge museums like the MET and Natural History Museum. Cross the infamous Brooklyn Bridge. Cruise past the Statue of Liberty on your way to Staten Island.
These are just some of the amazing things you can do when in New York City.

36. Hong Kong
Hong Kong is frequently used as a stopover by airlines flying to Asia, but you could try staying for a long weekend in order to make this stopover more interesting.
If you do, a serene harbour, beaches, parks, gardens and temples will be waiting for you.
From here, many couples go on to discover the wonders of China, Japan, Bali and the Philippines.
37. Saint Petersburg (currently not recommended)
Note: We wrote this blog post before the current situation with Russia, so you’ll probably want to avoid this one for now. We decided to keep the following information in this blog post, so we can remember how travel has changed over the years.
Although Moscow usually draws in the crowds in Russia, Saint Petersburg is a fantastic option for a city break and is easy to get to from many European countries, especially Scandinavian and Eastern European countries.
By spending a few days in Saint Petersburg, youâll discover a myriad of interesting museums, grand palaces, sacred cathedrals and interesting architecture.
Why not combine a city break in Saint Petersburg with a trip to Helsinki or even Lapland to see reindeer and the Northern Lights?
Japanâs capital city of Tokyo is extraordinary in its own right but is also the perfect gateway to explore more of the country and culture.
A long weekend in Tokyo can uncover some of its most interesting hotspots such as Ueno Park, Tsukiji Market, the district of Harajuku and Shibuya Crossing to name just a few.
Plus, a Tokyo city break can also easily be followed up with a longer stay in Japan by visiting the countryâs old capital, Kyoto, the deer parks at Nara and day trips to Mount Fuji via one of Japanâs rail networks.
Similarly to Hong Kong, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is also often used as a short stopover by major airlines flying to Asia, Indonesia or islands in the Indian Ocean.
But have you ever considered spending longer in Dubai such as 2 or 3 days?
This is ample enough time to see some of the cityâs highlights including its beaches, marina, modern architecture and luxury shopping.
Best Travel Destinations For Couples Who Love Food
40. belgium.
Whether you choose to visit the political hotspot of Brussels, historic Ghent , or the diamond district of Antwerp, thereâs no denying that Belgium is the most epic chocolate destination in the world.
Known for creamy chocolatey flavours and pralines, many tourists flock to Belgium intent on trying as many different kinds of chocolate as they can during their trip.
Some of the most sought after Belgian chocolate shops include Neuhaus (the inventors of the praline), Chocolatier Dumon , Mary , Godiva and Leonidas .

France frequently tops foodie destination lists and itâs easy to see why.
Whether you love cheese, wine, bread or pastries, youâll often find some of the best in France.
For cheese lovers, make it your mission to visit the largest cheese production regions such as Roquefort, Comté, Camembert and Cantal.
Love wine? The stunning wineries in Bordeaux, Champagne, Loire Valley and CĂŽtes du RhĂŽne will be calling your name.
While Franceâs capital, Paris, is flush with superb bakeries and patisseries ⊠macarons, choux pastries, eclairs and croissants are just some of the must-eat Parisian foods.
While France dominates the sweet end of the food hierarchy, Italy rules the savoury.
Fresh doughy pizzas, homemade pasta dishes, locally caught seafood and olive side dishes are just some of the Italian delicacies you can expect.
That said, it should be every travellerâs destiny to eat genuine Italian gelato at least once too. Florence has – by far – the best selection in our humble opinion.
Naples is perfect for pizzas, Rome is great for pretty much everything and coastal towns like Catania and Positano are ripe with seafood dishes.
43. Thailand
Thereâs a reason why Thai food has arrived in many Western countries.
Aromatic spices, healthy noodle dishes and Thai green curries with a bit of a kick are just some of the foods you can look forward to when on a foodie holiday to Thailand.
Thailand is also world-renowned for its street food and the variety on offer at market stalls and tourist hotspots is superb. You can also discover some of the cheapest Michelin Star food here as well.

44. Morocco
Most travellers visit Morocco for souks, haggling and the bustling atmosphere of Marrakech.
However, weâve said it once, and weâll say it again: there is so much more to Morocco than just souks and Marrakech.
If you venture out of town, youâll find beautiful valleys , clean beaches, an interesting culture and deserts that seem never-ending.
But youâll also find incredible food.
Fragrant spices, tropical fruits, sweet mint tea and succulent meat dishes cooked in a tagine are just some of the amazing foods you can expect.
The Spanish culture is heavily linked with its food and eating habits.
While lunch times are a heavily involved affair lasting for 2 or 3 hours and split over several courses, dinners are light and eaten late. And you can bet that tapas dishes will make their appearance!
When in Spain, you canât resist trying paella or gazpacho washed down with some delicious red wine from the Rioja region.
Just whatever you do – take your time with it. A foodie holiday in Spain means eating slowly and spending time with your loved ones.
46. Denmark
While Denmark is most well-known for its simple and sweet Danish pastries, thereâs much more to this foodie destination than meets the eye.
SmĂžrrebrĂžd, a dark brown rye bread topped with various toppings is eaten as a snack throughout the day, while roast pork (aka FlĂŠskesteg) is also a local delicacy.
Plus, cheese lovers canât possibly miss out on a strong and pungent Danish blue!
Indian cuisine has made its rounds the world over. And weirdly enough, an Indian curry now seems to be the nationâs favourite dish right here in the UK.
But travel to authentic India, and youâll discover a whole new world of Indian cooking.
Fragrant spices, curries with a kick, fluffy rice, crispy samosas and soft flatbreads will be even more flavoursome than what youâll find at a takeaway.
Furthermore, the actual process of eating in India is something to be enjoyed and shared with others.
So⊠just like in Spain, take your time, try lots of different dishes and get to know one another again through deep conversation.
48. Germany
Iâve often joked that I should have stayed in Germany after I was born there. Germany truly is a meat loverâs paradise with lots of variety of succulent sausages and pork dishes on offer.
Some of our favourites include Bratwurst, Currywurst, Wiener and Frankfurters.
But thereâs also more to German cuisine than just meat.
Other local delicacies include Black Forest Cake, Berliner doughnuts, Pfannkuchen pancakes and beers, ales and lagers.
And at Christmas time, Germany really comes into its own with tempting treats like Stollen, Lebkuchen, Christmas cookies and GlĂŒhwein.
49. The Netherlands
Although some travellers wonât consider the Netherlands to be a foodie destination, others know that thereâs more to this little country than meets the eye.
Both Gouda and Edam cheese originated here and that fact is celebrated across the Netherlands.
While sweet Stroopwafel and Pannenkoeken (Dutch pancakes) are well worth discovering – especially as simple street food dishes.
The UK is a highly multicultural country so youâll find all kinds of cuisines available throughout, ranging from Italian, Indian, Chinese, Thai and even Caribbean.
But traditional British food is also well worth travelling for.
While our food is often described as âstodgyâ or âunhealthyâ, this is simply a misunderstanding of what British food is all about.
For most Brits, food is about comfort, which is why so many of our classic dishes involve warm custard or hot gravy.
Some of our best dishes include the humble roast dinner, fish ânâ chips, hot apple crumble, sausage and mash, quaint afternoon teas and, of course, the Full English Breakfast.

Frequently asked questions, will we have alone time.
The amount of free time you have on your tour is largely up to you. No tour activities are mandatory as such, so if you prefer to opt out of an included dinner or walking tour, that choice is yours. Having said this, many tour itineraries factor in some 'free time' to explore on your own, so if you choose to break away on your own during these times, that's fine too.
Is it possible to get a double/queen bed?
If you have bedding preferences, please make this clear at the time of booking. It is, however, important to note that bedding arrangements in double hotel rooms vary around the globe. Many 4-star hotels in Europe have a twin bed standard, where they will either push together or separate the beds, depending on the guest request, so don't be surprised if this is what you encounter while exploring the world.
I am travelling with my partner, can we share a room?
The standard accommodation arrangement for tours is twin share, so in almost every case, you'll be in a private twin or double room by default. The only tours where this may not be an option is if the standard accommodation is in dormitories. If you're interested in a tour with dormitory accommodation, simply ask if a twin share room upgrade is available at an additional cost before booking.
I am travelling with my partner but we are booking separately, is that ok?
Absolutely. Please notify your booking agent of your travel partner's name if you'd like to share a room.
It will be our wedding anniversary while on tour, can we organise something special to celebrate?
While this cannot be guaranteed, it's always helpful for your tour operator to have this information in advance of your departure. At the time of booking, please let our Travel Experts know and we can pass it along to the tour operator. Then it's up to the operator of your tour, or to your tour guide to arrange something should it be possible.
Do many couples travel on tours or is it mainly single travellers?
Touring is equally popular with solo travellers, couples, and friends! The travellers that will join you on your tour are completely dependent on who else books spaces for the same tour and departure date. If you're curious to get an idea of other travellers that will be on your tour, you can always ask!
Tips for travelling as a couple
You’re in a relationship. Maybe it’s new. Maybe it’s long-term. Maybe you’re celebrating your ruby anniversary! One thing’s for sure: no matter the duration of your coupling, travelling together is worth a little extra preparation. Practice these tips and tricks, written by travelling couples themselves, and enjoy a travel experience that’s as stress-free as possible. Set your expectations You wouldn’t expect a flawless holiday when travelling solo, so why should travelling together be any different? Unexpected problems are a fact of life after all, and one not exclusively reserved for travelling. You might have imagined your time in Paris would be all romantic walks along the Seine, but instead ends up being food poisoning alone in your hotel room. That’s why it’s critical that each party sets some realistic expectations before the trip begins. If you’ve already mentally prepared yourself for inevitable disruptions to your plans, you can spend your energy being there for one another instead of spiralling into a dual serving of frustration and despair. Be willing to disagree Strangers fight. Friends fight. You will fight. The key takeaway here is that everything from simple bickering to full-on arguments is a normal facet of any human relationship. Spend enough time with someone and you will find something to fight about. It’s how you fight (or avoiding fighting) that matters. When you’re sharing something as important as a holiday together, emotions can run high. This could be the trip of a lifetime for both of you, and neither want to squander it. Maybe you prefer leaping out of bed first thing in the morning while your partner enjoys sleeping in. Things that might be quirky or unimportant back home can seem impossibly frustrating while on vacation. The solution here is to slow down and accept that it’s ok to disagree. You aren’t incompatible if you fight. You haven’t ruined your trip if you argue. Simply try to hear one another’s concerns, take a moment (or an hour) and move on. Embrace solo moments Even if you’re on a group tour, you can and should embrace moments for exploring your destination on your own, separate from your partner. After all, many healthy relationships strike a balance between couple time and alone time, so don’t be afraid or feel guilty about keeping this balance in place on your trip. This can also eliminate room for resentment between you both, as you’ll have to compromise on fewer aspects of your personal itineraries. Really want to go shopping while your partner is desperate to check out another museum? Take the free time you’re given on tour to agree to enjoy your must-have experiences separately! It will also provide an opportunity for more colourful conversation later that evening.

Bonding activities for couples on tour
Pushing past your limits.
Taking on new challenges together is an excellent way to build or strengthen the bond you share. Spend the months or year leading up to your trip training and preparing to take on the Himalayas or Mount Kilimanjaro together on a group tour.
Uncovering new sights
One of the biggest reasons we travel is to see the things we can't in our own backyards. Whether your bucket list includes the Eiffel Tower, the Swiss Alps, or the Serengeti, touring is the perfect way to uncover new sights together.Â
Experiencing local life
Leave your old way of life behind and choose a tour that provides unique insights into local culture. Together, and alongside your tour group, you can enjoy everything from unforgettable homestay experiences to cooking classes taught by local residents!Â

UPDATED March 24, 2022 by Allan Childs
You’re a new couple, young and full of energy. You spontaneously ask your partner to have a trip with just the two of you. Now, you are in a pinch because you don’t know what to consider along with the top trips for young couples. No need to fret as this article will help you with all of those problems.
Things to Consider
1. what do you want to see.
You can research the type of environment you want to go in your trip! Do you want something tropical? How about hiking? Are you focused on historical events? These things can help you limit the trip destinations that you want to go to with your partner.
2. Always be in the loop of current events.
Always look upon the things that are happening in your dream destination. You need to take note of any health and political climates that can pose a risk to you and your partner. This is very much needed, especially when you are planning to travel to a third-world country.
>> Going on a road trip with your partner? Make sure you have a pair of stylish sunglasses .
3. Factor in the vibe type.
Consider the vibe that you and your partner are looking for in a trip. Do you want your trip to be action-packed? Relaxing? Have a sit-down talk with your loved one about it to have a decision that favors you both. This makes sure that both of you can enjoy the trip as we all know that this trip won’t be your last trip.
4. Look up some travel blogs.
Do you and your partner have a destination in mind, but you don’t know what’s in store for you? You can research some travel blogs or some travel itineraries about that place. It will help you on figuring out what to do on your next trip. These blogs and itineraries do not only show what adventures await. But these also recommend the best place to stay, to eat and many more!
5. Look out for hidden spots.
Always think outside of the box. Besides considering the top destination that is probably popular according to your friend, try to look out for more! Do not be limited by what others are saying about the must-visited areas. Do your own research. You will never know – you might discover a rare spot that is not that popular but is trip worthy for you and your loved one!
- Best Vacation Spots

If you’re looking to surprise your significant other with the ultimate trip, take a look at our best vacation spots for young couples on a budget .
Who doesn’t love to travel? Especially if you decide to travel with your partner. Couple traveling can be so fun and also a great way to test your relationship. You can use that time for learning more about your partner and making some unforgettable memories. However, if you’re young and still getting started with your career, some cheap vacation ideas for couples might be your best bet, if you both have dreams to travel and explore. If you’re on a budget, that doesn’t mean traveling is off limits for you. What’s important is that you find some cheap getaways for two that are also very popular for young couples because you don’t want to hang out at a place full of senior citizens, where everything closes early. An affordable getaway for two is one of the best ways to refresh your relationship, and it won’t bring the stress of breaking the bank. Some resorts even offer cheap vacation packages for couples, which takes a lot of the hard work and planning out because everything is included in the price. So why not take some time off, explore someplace new, and spend quality time with the one you love?

However, if you’re smart (and romantic) and if you find the best vacation spots for couples on a budget, you’ll have someone else by your side to help you navigate. Also, the two of you will have some unique memories and experiences to share. Many people can confirm that you are best acquainted with a person if you travel with her somewhere far away. There is a lot to factor in when it comes to planning a vacation. The major components are transportation, lodging, and food. There are many places, around the globe, that may cost a lot to get to, but on the other hand, they’ll cost you next to nothing each day you are there. For this list of best vacation spots for young couples on a budget, we compared hotel prices, hostel prices, average food costs for one day, and transportation (as far as getting around the location, not plane tickets) prices, using sites like TripAdvisor , Travelocity and BudgetYourTrip . Once we averaged out what it would roughly cost you per day, per person, in U.S. dollars, we ranked our list according to that average price. The cheaper the destination per day is, the higher is on our list.

A husband and wife were arrested on Sunday, accused of sex trafficking two 17-year-old girls, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said a sheriff's deputy was patrolling near Watt Avenue and Winona Way in North Highlands around 8 p.m. when he observed two young girls wearing lingerie near a vehicle. The deputy spoke to both girls and discovered they were victims of sex trafficking, the sheriff's office said.
Officials said detectives learned the two girls were being trafficked by family friends, later identified as 46-year-old John Cheso and 35-year-old Shannon Powell. The girls referred to Cheso and Powell as their "street parents," the sheriff's office said.
Cheso and Powell were arrested on felony human trafficking charges.
The sheriff's office said both remain in custody on Monday. Cheso is held on a $2 million bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 26. Powell is held on a $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 25.
Detectives believe there may be additional sex trafficking victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 916-874-5115.
The sheriff's office said the deputy who found the two victims had just rescued another young girl who was also being sex trafficked. KCRA 3 Investigates spent a year talking to sex trafficking survivors, advocates, lawmakers and law enforcement about the problems they're seeing on the streets and what they think needs to change. Why a young family decided to move to a tiny Maine island on a whim
By Steve Hartman
June 21, 2024 / 8:12 PM EDT / CBS News
Isle au Haut, Maine — If you take a ferry to Isle au Haut, an island community way off the coast of Maine, you can visit a gift shop and general store. And that's it, because there are no other businesses on the island.
"People who live out here are resilient, they're creative," Bob Olney, president of the Isle au Haut Community Development Corporation, told CBS News. But there aren't enough of them, Olney said.
The island's population fluctuates between 45 and 50 people. "It's essential that we continue to attract families," Olney said.
Last year, this community put a post on social media and on the island's official website hoping to woo a new family. They were careful not to oversell the place.
"Though it's not everyone's cup of tea, who knows, it may very well be yours," the post read.
And they got a taker: a young family from central Massachusetts.
Dakota and Hannah Waters, and their children Flynn and Amelia, moved here a few months ago.
"Our whole family thought we were psychotic," Hannah said. "They're like, 'A remote island in the middle of the ocean?'"
And yet here they live, the newest members of a dying breed. At one point, there were about 300 communities out here on Maine's most isolated islands. Now there are just over a dozen. And keeping the communities alive will require attracting people who seek a different lifestyle, people who value solitude over Starbucks, and really don't mind a little adversity.
"People have traded the good life for a convenient one," Hannah said. "And convenience isn't always the best."
To that point, the Waters raise some of their own food and work multiple jobs. Dakota does plumbing, lawn maintenance and even works on a lobster boat. As for the children, Flynn was one of just two students attending school on the island's K-8 schoolhouse.
The place is just that small. But Dakota says the tininess is more blessing than curse.
"We have so much more bonding time with the kids," Dakota said. "It's indescribably wholesome."
Hannah plans for the family to stay.
"I'm not moving my stuff off this rock again," Hannah said. "It was too hard to get it here."

12 Affordable Vacations for Couples on a Budget
From the U.S. to Mexico, these getaways come at a price you'll both love.
Kent Nishimura/Getty Images
Sharing experiences as a couple can make travel more enjoyable, whether itâs your first trip together, a honeymoon, or a babymoon. Sometimes, however, the motivation is there, but the budget doesn't allow for a lavish getaway.
With some strategic planning and calculations, itâs possible to create an affordable vacation. You might look for off-season or less popular destinations, or choose cities known for great free attractions. Shop for the best airfares on sites like Hopper or Skyscanner . It also pays to be flexible on timing or travel days.
Travel experts advise putting together a budget and itinerary to estimate costs for hotels, activities, transportation, food, and other purchases. They also suggest booking a hotel with a kitchen, so you can prepare some of your own meals instead of dining out. Consider all-inclusive hotels, too, but only after evaluating what is actually included and how much you would take advantage of the amenities.
Recognizing that âaffordabilityâ is a relative term, weâve aimed for places in North America where couples can have an enjoyable vacation while staying within the budget they create for themselves. We looked for free or low-cost activities and took into account the availability of less costly lodging. With that in mind, here are some of the most affordable vacations for couples.

Couples can also take the subway to Long Island Cityâs Gantry Plaza State Park , which offers gorgeous views of the NYC skyline, or ride the Roosevelt Island Tramway (about $3 each way) for an aerial view of the city.

Rooms at The Twin Fin , a surf-inspired beachfront hotel, start at $199, and nightly entertainment includes DJs, live music, stargazing, and more.

Touring the White House is also free, but you'll need to request a reservation at least 21 days in advance. The public transit system, including its easy-to-navigate Metro, offers a convenient, low-cost way to get around. For an affordable meal, head to a fast-casual spot like chef José Andrés' vegetarian restaurant Beefsteak or try the famous chili half-smoke at historic chain Ben's Chili Bowl . Hotels in the capital might be pricey, but staying in nearby Alexandria, Virginia , can save you some money and allow you to explore another charming city.

Mexican cartels offering $15k vip ‘travel agency’ packages to help illegal immigrants sneak into us.

Mexican cartels are now offering VIP âtravel agencyâ packages worth as much as $15,000 to help illegal immigrants sneak into the United States via a stream of underground tunnels.
The so-called VIP smuggling has become so lucrative that the cartels are now focusing roughly 70% of their criminal activity on getting migrants across the US-Mexico border — instead of their usual drug trafficking, USA Today reported.
The La Linea cartel, for example, has allegedly been shepherding roughly 1,000 VIP migrants from Ciudad JuaÌrez, Mexico into El Paso, Texas every month, a senior Mexican official told the outlet.
âCriminals have shifted from their primary business, which was drug trafficking. Now 60-70% of their focus is migrant smuggling,â Arturo Velasco, the head of the Chihuahua attorney generalâs office’s anti-kidnapping unit, said.
âA kilo of cocaine might bring in $1,500, but the risk is very high,â he continued. âThe cost-benefit of trafficking a person is $10,000, $12,000, $15,000.â
The migration travel agency packages can range between $6,000 to $15,000 per person, according to both smugglers and migrants.
The VIP migrants are given a code, which identifies what cartel they’ve paid to help them, so they can avoid being harassed by local cops or rival syndicates as they traverse through the tunnels, according to officials.
Mexican National Guard members and immigration bureaucrats, as well as local cops, are allegedly in on the VIP ruse and have been accepting bribes from cartels, officials claimed.
In some cases, cops are even kidnapping migrants and keeping them in safe houses until they can find the money to pay a cartel for a VIP package.
âThey load people onto their trucks, and they care for them, so that another cartel doesnât abduct them,â one smuggler, identified only as Ricardo, said.
The cops then bring the VIPs to tunnel entrances and, in some instances, provide cover for the smugglers and migrants as they head to the border, he added.
Ricardo said he forks out nearly $600 per migrant for the police protection service.
âItâs millions of pesos in extortions and everyone is in on it,â Tony Payan, director of The U.S.-Mexico Center at Rice University, said of the VIP scheme.
âIn other words, itâs an extortion force.”
Meanwhile, Juårez municipal police chief Cesar Omar Muñoz Morales denied allegations of corruption, insisting his department was clean and efficient.
âWeâre doing the best we can,” he said.
News of the cartel’s VIP migrant operation emerged after it was revealed some 42,000 migrants have illegally crossed the border from Mexico in the days since President Biden issued a âcrackdownâ executive order earlier this month.
The June 4 order threatens to halt asylum processing at the US border if the average number of illegal arrivals crosses 2,500 per day in a week.
The average number of crossings each day has been roughly 3,200 since the order began, internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data leaked to The Post shows.
Border Patrol sources said most of the migrants are still being given court dates and released into the US â despite the Biden Administrationâs claim the new measure would stem the flow of illegal immigrants.
