Don’t worry; we’ll guide you through the process and help you choose your trip.

When planning your adventure from Rio to Iguazu Falls, consider factors such as budget, time constraints, and personal preferences to find the best transportation option for you.

  • Read: 4-Day Iguazu Falls Itinerary
  • Stay online with an eSIM during your trip.

Travel Preparations

Before embarking on your journey from Rio de Janeiro to the Iguazu Falls, preparing adequately is essential. In this section, we’ll cover important aspects like visa requirements, the best time to visit, and budget considerations.

Visa Requirements

When traveling between Brazil and Argentina, make sure to check if you need a visa for either country. Passport holders of most European and American countries do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days in Brazil or Argentina.

However, verifying the visa requirements for your specific nationality is always recommended before planning your trip.

Best Time to Visit

The Iguazu Falls can be visited year-round, but the experience may vary depending on the season. The best time to visit the falls is during the months of May to September, when the weather is relatively dry, and crowds are thinner.

However, if you prefer a more majestic view of the falls, opt for the wet season (December to February) when water levels are highest. Keep in mind that the wet season also brings soaring temperatures, higher humidity, and larger crowds.

In our case, we visited Iguazu Falls in April, the weather was perfect and there was not crowded.

Budget Considerations

Your budget will play a significant role in determining your travel choices. Here are a few factors to consider:

  • Transportation : The most popular and quickest way to travel from Rio de Janeiro to Iguazu Falls is by flying. Flight prices may vary, and booking early for the best deals is advisable. Alternatively, you can opt for a more budget-friendly option like a bus or car, but these will take considerably longer.
  • Accommodation : Both Brazil and Argentina offer a wide range of accommodation options near the Iguazu Falls, including luxury hotels, hostels, and bed & breakfasts. Research and book in advance to get the best deals and ensure availability.
  • Activities and Entrance Fees : To fully enjoy your visit, set aside funds for activities such as guided tours and adventure experiences (e.g., boat rides, hiking). Also, remember to account for entrance fees to access the Iguazu Falls parks on both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides.

Travel Insurance

When traveling to Brazil and exploring the mesmerizing Iguazu Falls, it’s essential to have travel insurance by your side. This ensures peace of mind and protects you from unexpected mishaps.

From flight cancellations and lost baggage to medical emergencies, travel insurance provides financial assistance and support in times of need.

With travel’s unpredictable nature, comprehensive coverage safeguards your investment, health, and belongings. Don’t let unforeseen circumstances ruin your adventure – travel with insurance and explore Brazil and the magnificent Iguazu Falls worry-free.

We always travel with Heymondo Insurance ; take a look and get a quote; with this link, you have a 5% OFF.

By carefully planning your trip and considering these aspects, you’ll be well-prepared for a memorable journey to one of South America’s most stunning natural wonders, the Iguazu Falls.

Day trip from Rio de Janeiro to Iguazu Falls

We stayed in Rio for one week and wanted to see the falls. We took a flight at 0950 arriving at 1205. We took a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport to the park entrance. We did not buy a tour because we really only wanted to see the falls. We were not disappointed. As you walk down the steps you see some smaller falls but as you approach the main falls the experience is amazing.. The sheer volume of water is astounding and the sound of the water is incredible. The walk out to the middle of the Devil's Throat is very wet. The spray from the falls will make you wet. I recommend buying a waterproof mac from the shop before you go down to the falls. Our flight departed at 1900 so we also had time to take a taxi to the town of Foz de Iguazu then a taxi back to the airport. Overall it was an amazing experience.

Google

The views from the Brazilian side are spectacular. The feeling of being in the falls, appreciating and experiencing the negative ion charge is on the Brazilian side. FOR MOBILITY CHALLENGED PERSONS - the entire walking trail, despite having a few elevators (lifts) is not easy. Trails are crowded, terrain uneven, and distances between points where buses can pick up and drop off are long. You can enjoy the falls, you just won't have the same experience as your more ambulatory counterparts.

We have visited Niagara and Victoria Falls and seem many spectacular waterfalls in Iceland but Iguazu is the most stunning of all. We saw the falls from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides and would stronger recommend doing both.

We did not like it. It is expensive and gives little to do. Badly organized. Old and not maintained. Small passages and stairs for a lot of people

Thank you for your visit and review on TripAdvisor! We care for good service and we are providing improvements to offer an ever better experience to our visitors. We appreciate your understanding.

Highly recommend a visit to Foz do Iguazu. Very organized. Also a visit to the Itaipu Dam. You can purchase at the Foz do Iguazu entrance a three attractions package to visit both the Foz do Iguazu, Itaipu Dam and Three Fronteras for a lower price than paying for each one separately.

Iguassu Falls are something I've wanted to see for years, and they were well worth the wait. They were also so much more than I was expecting in so many ways

What people love about iguazu falls tours.

A great experience. Intrepid leader Javier Buchnann is excellent
This is the best G adventures tour I have done in terms of itinerary and people I was traveling with. I had a fantastic time with a great group of people. The only feedback I will give G is I feel the CEO guides are pressured to get 9s or 10s in their reviews and hence transmit that to us which made me not leave a review on the G website as I felt I could not be completely honest without harming the tour guides' rating. This culture should change if you want constructive feedback. I loved all 4 of my CEOs on my tour but 2 of them were outstanding (10/10s) and I felt as a result of above, I could not give them the credit they were due without causing harm to the other 2 who were also good but more 7/10s.

"Loved the tour with Iguazu Falls being the highlight. Ipanema Beach was our favourite and enjoyed being buffeted by the waves. Our guide Javier did a really good job and the whole group was very appreciative of his efforts. Also got to see the resting place of Evita and Christ the Redeemer close up!

Do you offer group tours?

Sadly no, this tour can only be arranged in private.

But if you can find more people that wants to join in the tour, the price for everyone will be less.

Can I book my own flights?

Sure! No problem! We will suggest you the best flight for this tour based on your timings and date.

Can I do this tour on the same day I arrive?

It is possible to arrange this tour on the same day you arrive to Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo, but we will have to check the flights available for that day.

Is there a maximum for this tour?

Not at all, we can organize a tour for any amount of passengers. If needed, we can suggest adding another guide and divide the group in two.

From which city is better to do this tour?

If somewhere in your trip to South America you visit Buenos Aires, we strongly suggest to make this day tour from this city and not other like Rio de Janeiro,  because from Argentina the flights are a lot cheaper than from Brazil .

Does it worth to hire a guide?

We suggest hiring a guide (we have an english, italian, french, and spanish speaking guide available) during the whole day because he/she  will arrange the visit to make the best use of your available time , and you will not lose any time looking, for example. on how to visit the park and where to lunch.

How much does the ticket entrance to the parks cost?

The ticket entrance to both national parks (Argentinean and Brazilian) cost around USD 30 per passenger. But we suggest to add them in your tour with us to don’t worry about using your credit cards or bringing cash.

What should I bring to this tour?

Bring confortable shoes and clothes , because in Iguazu is very hot. We also suggest to bring water (you can also buy at the park), bug spray. and sunscreen. Your clothes have to be light and easy to dry under the sun.

If you plan to do the boat navigation (Great Adventure) bring a change of clothes  or bath suite, because after this tour you will end all soaked.

Pack a light bag! You don’t need a lot of things to visit Iguazu on a day tour, and you can leave some of your stuff in the lockers if you want.  Remember to bring your passports (you can also wrap them in a plastic bag to cover them from the mist).

Is this tour suitable for childrens?

Keep in mind that this tour can be a bit hard for young children. We suggest bringing enough water and comfortable clothes for them.  You can also bring your stroller  if you want (ask us if you want us to rent one for you in Iguazu), there are some parts that you have to bring it with you due to the stairs, but at the devil’s throat and the upper circuit you can use it without a problem.

Do you have other suggestions?

We strongly suggest taking a very good breakfast before going into this day tour, because you will spend a lot of energy walking. If your flight is very early in the morning, the guide in Iguazu will ask you if you want to take breakfast before going to Iguazu.

Obviously, don’t forget to bring your camera with enough battery for a whole day. You will be constantly taking photos of this beautiful destination. If you have some waterproof cover for them we suggest to bring it to this tour.

Seeing iguazu falls made easy.

"Many thanks to the company for making this trip so easy and enjoyable for us! Walter was in constant contact with us from the start. Questions were always answered within 24 hours. The driver who picked us up from the cruise terminal in the morning and brought us to the airport and the driver who brought us back to the cruise terminal from the airport at night were on time, courteous and professional! The flight reservations both ways were perfect. Paola, our Iguazu guide, picked us up at the airport right on time. She was amazing! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the park, constantly explained what we were seeing and made our Iguazi Falls experience memorable. When we were dropped off at our cruise terminal at night, our driver would not leave until he saw that we were safely inside. All promises regarding this trip were delivered! We absolutely recommend this company to all!

Fantastic trip.

"The arrangements made by Mauro went perfectly well without a hitch. The pickup was on time and airline booking was done well. The tour guide Paulo was excellent. He received us at Iguazu airport and dropped us off after the tour on time. The tour itself was well done except for the really hot weather which Paulo couldn’t do anything about. Overall the trip was excellent.

"Wow! Amazing tour and so well organized from start to finish! Our personal guide through the park, Lorena was so knowable about so many things. She was patient and helped us make the most of our experience at Iguazu Falls. Thank you to Walter for being so very responsive to all my questions & even tracking our delayed flight to let our taxi driver know when to pick us up & take us back to our hotel. We had a fantastic day!

Alande brezault, best tour ever.

"Only had a day to visit Iguazu during a short trip to Buenos Aires with wife and 2 children. Minute after booking, I was contacted by Walter regarding details for the tour. From transfers to and from the airport, airline tickets, park fees and activities, tour guide, everything was handled professionally and flawlessly. Walter was always an email away and made a rather complicated day trip very easy to manage. Happy and comfortable to recommend their services for a day adventure to Iguazu. They will take care of you.
