The Memorial picks 2024: Best bets for PGA Tour golf this week

By cody williams | jun 3, 2024.

the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday

Few events on the PGA Tour schedule get the blood flowing quite like the Memorial Tournament. Jack Nicklaus' hosted event at Muirfield Village in Ohio is an immaculate setup that truly offers a great test every year, and this will be no exception with Scottie Scheffler headlining the 2024 field as the favorite with the likes of PGA champion Xander Schauffele and defending Memorial champion Viktor Hovland entering seemingly having found his form, among others.

Canada was none too kind to our best bets and expert picks and we're hoping that a change of scenery to Dublin, OH will help our Memorial picks. After all, it's hard to get more of a gut punch than two solid bets coming up a stroke short of hitting. Not to mention a collapse from Mac Meissner hurting us as well. But alas, we move forward.

These are our expert picks and best bets for the Memorial Tournament this week, and boy do we ever need a good week heading into the U.S. Open the following week.

Golf betting record in 2024 through Canadian Open: 15-124-0, -38.93 Units (1-51 on outrights and longshots | -4.6 units at Canadian Open) | One and Done Total for 2024: $6,897,527 (Aaron Rai at Canadian Open, $152,750)

The Memorial Tournament expert picks: Winner, Top 10 and One and Done

Top 10 pick for the memorial tournament: keegan bradley (+450, draftkings).

We need to appreciate both how well Keegan Bradley has been playing of late and, more importantly for this week, how well he should fit what we're going to see at the Memorial. Bradley comes in having finished T21 at Wells Fargo, T18 at the PGA and then T2 at the Charles Schwab in his last three starts. While his last two starts at Muirfield Village have been a T30 and T37 finish for Bradley, the form right now suggests better things coming. He's seventh in this field on SG: Approach over the last 20 rounds, Top 15 on approach from 175-225 yards, sixth in Par 5 scoring over the last 20 rounds, and has been a slight gainer with the putter over that span. Top 10 is aggressive but I love the way he could pop this week.

Winner pick for the Memorial Tournament (0.5 Units): Viktor Hovland (+1800)

Obviously, Viktor Hovland is the defending champion as he essentially started a torrid finish to his 2023 season at Muirfield Village. He was lost to start the season as he tried to make some swing changes but a reunion with Joe Mayo has yielded quick positive results. He was a middling T24 at Wells Fargo but then was in contention at the PGA Championship until the 72nd hole before finishing solo third. Hovland gained a little more than 10.5 strokes ball striking but also with his short game at the PGA. He's also best in this field over the last 20 rounds on approaches from 200-225 yards and fourth from 175-200 yards. The big concern would be his short game but the reunion with Mayo seemed to fix that instantly, so I'm buying in when Hovland's odds could be even shorter if he hadn't struggled earlier in the year.

One and Done pick for the Memorial Tournament: Viktor Hovland

Even if Hovland isn't holding the trophy for the second straight year, it's going to be a good week for him. It feels like he found the special sauce we saw at the end of last year and that makes him a perfect fit for Muirfield Village this week.

The Memorial picks: More best bets for PGA Tour this week

Si woo kim and billy horschel to finish top 30 at the memorial tournament (+200, draftkings).

Si Woo Kim has been stellar at the Memorial Tournament historically with no finish outside the Top 20 in his last four starts, including finishing solo fourth at this event last year. He's also sixth in SG: Approach over the last 12 rounds and third in Good Drive Percentage over the last 20 rounds in this field. So asking for a Top 30 isn't a huge task for him, nor is it for Billy Horschel. The 2022 champion at this event, Horschel has found his groove again of late. He comes in finishing T8 and T24 at the PGA and Charles Schwab, respectively. He's gained more than 3.0 strokes putting in each of those events but has also gained on approach. More importantly, he also has two more Top 15 finishes in his last five starts at the Memorial, so I love for him to get it done with a nice showing this week too.

Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Åberg and Patrick Cantlay Top 20 Parlay (+399, DraftKings)

When it comes to Morikawa and Cantlay, this is banking on their history at this course. They finished 1-2 at this event in 2021 while the latter is a multi-time winner at this event who also finished T3 in 2022. Morikawa has gotten things rolling again, so I have no worries. And while Cantlay has looked out of form, a place like this could awaken one of the most talented players in the world. As for Ludvig Åberg, the knee issue worries me. Having said that, the fit remains stellar. He's first in SG: Off-the-Tee, sixth in SG: Approach, first in putting on bentgrass, second on approach from 175-200 and 200-225 yards, and 10th in Par 5 scoring over the last 20 rounds. He could contend this week if the knee holds up but we'll play it somewhat safe in this Top 20 parlay.

Lee Hodges to finish Top 20 at the Memorial Tournament (+330, DraftKings)

I'm eyeing Lee Hodges as a huge sleeper this week. He finished T12 at the Memorial last year and comes in with a pair of T12 finishes and a T24 in his last three starts, including being Top 15 at the PGA Championship. Over the last 20 rounds, he's 17th in SG: Approach in this field and is 12th in SG: Putting over the last 16 rounds. It's not necessarily the perfect profile but his recent run of strong finishes combined with how he played the Memorial last week is enough to fully catch my eye.

Longshot pick to win the Memorial Tournament (0.1 Units): Lee Hodges (+22000, FanDuel)

If we're going to pick a longshot, let's go really long with Hodges. Look, it's a loaded field at the Memorial but everything I just said about Hodges suggests he could be live to make some noise this week. Getting him at 220/1 odds feels like a misprice that we have to sprinkle on in hopes of taking advantage of it.

How it works: Each week, our experts from PGATOUR.COM will make their selections in PGA TOUR Fantasy Golf. Each lineup consists of four starters and two bench players that can be rotated after each round. Adding to the challenge is that every golfer can be used only three times per each of four Segments.

Aside from the experts below, Golfbet Insider Rob Bolton breaks down the field at the RBC Canadian Open in this week's edition of Power Rankings .

Betting picks

WILL GRAY (Lead, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Sahith Theegala (+2000) – Hamilton is going to be tight off the tee, even after the recent renovation. Anyone that can win at Silverado and contend at Harbour Town has the game to hang here.
  • Top 10: Robert MacIntyre (+600) – The lefty has found his footing in recent weeks, with three top-15s in his last five starts including a T8 at the PGA Championship.
  • Longshot: Erik van Rooyen (+5500) – T20 here five years ago and coming off four straight cuts including a T4 finish at the Myrtle Beach Classic. The South African is top 20 on TOUR this season in both SG: Total (15th) and SG: Putting (17th).
  • Head-to-Head (H2H): Alex Noren (-130) over Cameron Young – I’ve backed Young multiple times this year, but he has seemed a little off in his last three starts since the Masters. Not sure Hamilton will be the best fit for his brawny game, while Noren is quietly surging.

BEN EVERILL (Senior writer, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Corey Conners (+2200) – I am a big believer in the theory that Nick Taylor smashing the Canadian curse at their national open will bring the local boys to the forefront of the leaderboard this year. With a huge month of golf ahead some might be looking ahead but Conners and crew will be VERY focused on what’s in front of them.
  • Top 10: MacKenzie Hughes (+320) – Sticking with the Canadian theme it is important to know Hughes is a true Hamilton local. He also has extra motivation to catch his fellow Canadians on the Official World Golf Rankings for a potential Olympic berth and is on the outside looking in for an International Presidents Cup team berth. Huge week for Hughes.
  • Longshots: Nick Taylor (+6000) – The defending champion and hero of the nation is at disrespectful odds here. I know his only top 10 since winning the WM Phoenix Open in February was at the Zurich Classic but if you think this guy won’t get up for this week you’re kidding yourself. He will be FIRED up.
  • H2H: MacKenzie Hughes (+100) over Keith Mitchell – Plus money for a Canadian over an American… look for these opportunities everywhere this week! You can be sure anyone with the maple leaf on their bag will fight till the absolute last shot.

CHRIS BREECE (Senior content manager, Golfbet)

  • Winner: Alex Noren (+2500) – I’ve recently ridden the Noren train to some smaller victories. He has eight straight Top 25s. That’s a sign that a win could be only a matter of time.
  • Top 10: Davis Thompson (+400) – Gains strokes in every aspect of his game. He was T17 last week and T2 at Myrtle Beach.
  • Longshot: Doug Ghim (+8000) – Ghim has been strong on Thursdays and Fridays. If he can figure out the weekend he can be in the mix. He also had a string of five straight Top 20s a few months back- so he has proven his game can stay consistent.
  • H2H: Sahith Theegala (-105) over Tommy Fleetwood – Theegala has been hungry (and consistent). He stays hungry this week.

MATT DELVECCHIO (Social content manager, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Mackenzie Hughes (+4000) – I’ve had his name circled all year for this week. Hometown kid growing up ride outside of Hamilton in Dundas, Hughes is ready for this moment. T14 last time the RBC Canadian was here in 2019. His putting is in a really good place to get him back in the winners circle in front of a crowd that wants nothing more than to see their own raise the RBC Canadian Open trophy.
  • Top 10: Adam Scott (+300) – Seriously considered him for outright but I don’t know if he’s ready to win just yet. Has played really well at comparable courses of Colonial and TPC River Highlands. Scott should be around on Sunday.
  • Longshot: Adam Hadwin (+5000) – Maybe Taylor’s performance last year has me thinking about Canadians more than I should but hey, that’s why he’s my longshot.
  • H2H: Corey Conners (-105) over Shane Lowry – You need to manuever around Hamilton so take the better ball-striker in Conners. I’m not sold on such a high price on Lowry this week which is entirely dependent on his performance here in 2019 and his play at the PGA Championship. Outside that and Zurich Classic, Shane hasnt been great the last two months. Take the Canadian.

California sheriff quips he’s ‘changing teams,’ urges support for ‘convicted felon’ trump.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

A well-known conservative California sheriff joked that he was “changing teams” ahead of the 2024 election and urged people to support a “convicted felon.”

“I think it’s time we put a felon in the White House,” Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco said in a video posted to social media Saturday.

Bianco’s comments come after former President Trump was convicted last week on 34 felony counts in New York , making the former president the first president to be convicted of a felony.

Bianco, who has openly teased the possibility of running for governor of California, said in the video that he has done all he could over three decades in law enforcement to “keep our community safe by arresting criminals and putting them in jail,” but lamented that leaders and California have become seemingly pro-criminal in recent years.

“For the last five years I’ve been very critical about our governor for slashing our budgets from corrections, for letting prisoners out early, for closing our prisons,” Bianco said. “I’ve been critical of our state legislature for passing laws to make it harder to put people in prison. I’ve been critical for their changing laws that let prisoners out early. And I’ve been critical of our attorney general for seemingly not caring about crime.”

Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco.

The sheriff went out to lament the “love affair” the state’s leaders “have with criminals,” which he argued is based on a “belief that criminals are not responsible for their own actions.”

“They’re a victim of society,” Bianco said. “It’s society’s fault. It’s businesses’ fault. It’s cops’ fault. It might be my fault.”

Bianco noted that the state’s leaders blame the judicial system, laws and law enforcement for being “systemically racist,” leading to criminals being put in jail as a result of “bias.”

Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco.

But now they “let them out,” the sheriff continued, saying that they give criminals “housing, they give them money, they give them drugs and alcohol now.”

Bianco added that he was “tired” of the problem before a tongue-in-cheek admission that maybe he had “been wrong.”

“I think I am going to change teams,” Bianco said.

“I think they’re on to something, but I don’t think they’re doing enough,” the sheriff quipped, before revealing that he thought putting a felon in the White House would be a good idea.

“Trump 2024, baby, let’s save this country and make America great again,” Bianco concluded.

2024 Memorial Tournament Tournament preview

The Memorial Tournament is this week, and the PGA Tour is back at Jack's place for a Signature event. Nicklaus has really enjoyed making Muirfield Village tough the last few years, so expect it again.

2024 Memorial Tournament Tournament rankings: Top 10 teams

1. Scottie Scheffler : There's no debating who is the best player in this field. It's just a debate of whether Scheffler will finish higher than third, as he has two of the last three years.

2. Xander Schauffele : Whoa, a little curveball here! Xander gets into the top 15 here quite a bit, but it's tough for him to crack into the top 10.

3. Rory McIlroy : Rory just does not have the kind of record here that can support putting him second on the list.

4. Collin Morikawa : Morikawa has been striking the ball so well the last few months, and he has done well here in the past -- including that random COVID double Memorial event.

5. Max Homa : I have Homa here somewhat by default, based on the last three years in this event. However, he was off by a million miles a Colonial, which is a concern.

6. Patrick Cantlay : Cantlay has a thing for Muirfield Village, but he's otherwise been a relative dud this year -- save for Riviera.

7. Viktor Hovland : I'm not really sure which Hovland we're going to get this week, but my hope is it's the guy who was great at the PGA Championship.

8. Shane Lowry : I think Lowry could be quite a pick this week, as he was great at Valhalla and played well here a couple of years ago.

9. Billy Horschel : Horschel is a winner here, and he's been having a really strong season. Was great at Valhalla and solid at Memorial.

10. Denny McCarthy : Denny has been close here the last two years, losing to Viktor Hovland in a playoff in 2023.

Uswnt vs. south korea odds, picks and predictions, share this article.

The USWNT welcomes South Korea to Allianz Field in Saint Paul Tuesday. Kickoff in the international friendly is set for 8 p.m. ET (TNT/truTV/Max). Below, we preview FanDuel Sportsbook’s  lines around the USWNT vs. South Korea odds , and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions .

The USWNT is starting its latest round of friendlies. It beat South Korea 4-0 Saturday at DSG Park in Commerce City, Colo. Prior to that, it hadn’t taken the field since winning the SheBelieves Cup over Canada April 9. The USWNT has won its last 6 games but did lose 2-0 against Mexico Feb. 26. It has won 8 of 9 games in 2024 and sits 4th in the FIFA Women’s World Ranking.

South Korea sits 20th. It hasn’t had quite as busy of a 2024, having played 5 games and winning 3 of them. Its lone other loss was a 5-1 defeat against Portugal Feb. 27. Although South Korea lost 4-0 to the USWNT, it didn’t give up its 1st goal until 34 minutes in and did allow just 15 shots in total. It has wins over the Philippines and the Czech Republic so far this year.

USWNT vs. South Korea odds

Provided by  FanDuel Sportsbook ; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 10:57 p.m. ET.

  • Moneyline: USWNT -1800 (bet $1,800 to win $100) | South Korea +2700 (bet $100 to win $2,700) | Draw +1100
  • Over/Under: 3.5 (O: -116 | U: -122)

USWNT vs. South Korea picks and predictions

USWNT 3, South Korea 0

Moneyline  (ML)

Unfortunately, there’s no value here however one paints it. South Korea lost 4-0 and didn’t even really catch sight of goal Saturday, and the USWNT should again showcase that type of dominance Tuesday.

Couple that with the fact that South Korea was dominated by Portugal, which sits at No. 21 in the FIFA Women’s World Ranking, and there’s no real reason to assume anything other than a USWNT win will be the outcome of the match.

Avoid taking the home side at -1800 though.

Over/Under  (O/U)

BET UNDER 3.5 ( -122 ).

The USWNT did manage 4 goals Saturday, but it did that on just 9 shots on frame and just 15 shots in total.

The high-level scoring just isn’t there like it used to be, and fans were given a real look at the lack of potency in the SheBelieves Cup. In the 8 games prior to Saturday that the USWNT played this year, it scored 3 or fewer in 6 of them.

South Korea didn’t seem too interested in scoring Saturday and has tallied just 4 shots on frame against Portugal, its only other quality opponent this year.

Considering those trends, expect fewer goals, and back UNDER 3.5 ( -122 ).

I was born and raised in Peru and have 21 years of experience in the tourism industry. I'm passionate about traveling and being able to create memories by showcasing my country. I consider myself lucky to have traveled the world on a cruise ship for over 10 years, giving me the opportunity to explore different destinations and learn about countries' customs, food and cultures. I love to bake, barbecue, visit the beach and, of course, travel and explore new destinations. I was born in Lima, Peru, but my mom is from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and my dad is from Lima. I can speak fluent English, Spanish, and Portuguese! Travelling has always been my passion, and learning about different cultures and trying new experiences is my favorite thing to do. Because of this, I studied Hotel & Restaurant Management at the University of Houston. After graduating, I found an opportunity to learn more about the tourism industry while customizing & crafting trips to South America! When I'm not working, I love to visit new restaurants, coffee shops, nearby bars, spend time with family and friends, take dance lessons, and discover new music and movies. My favorite food is Nikkei, which is a fusion between Peruvian and Japanese or Peruvian-Italian cuisine. One of my favorite drinks is coffee & Pisco Sour too!

2024 RBC Canadian Open predictions, expert picks, odds, field rankings, golf best bets

The pga tour travels to the great white north for one of the best events of the season.

sahith-theegala-2024-pga-championship-round-4-g.jpg

How do you follow up an all-time great tournament? Well, the 2024 RBC Canadian Open is about to find out. Hamilton Golf & Country Club will host this year's Canadian Open, and it has the unenviable task of playing sequel to what may have been the best finish of the 2023 season.

Last year, Nick Taylor became the first Canadian since 1964 to win his home country's open, and he did so in the most dramatic fashion. Holing a 72-foot eagle putt on the third playoff hole against Tommy Fleetwood, Taylor tossed his putter in the air and immediately jumped into rarified air when it comes to Canadian sports lore.

He'll attempt to go back-to-back while being joined in the field by a number of his fellow countrymen, including Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, Mackenzie Hughes and Adam Hadwin. You may remember Hadwin as the man tackled by security during Taylor's celebration, but it was Rory McIlroy who tackled the field the last time the Canadian Open was held at Hamilton Golf & Country Club.

Firing a final-round 61 where he flirted with the possibility of a sub-60 performance, McIlroy ran away from the field for a seven-stroke victory over Webb Simpson and Shane Lowry in 2019. The four-time major champion aims to get back into the winner's circle for the third time in his Canadian Open career and grab his third trophy of the year just as the summer months roll around.

While McIlroy stalks the path towards 30 PGA Tour wins, players like Fleetwood, Cameron Young and Maverick McNealy are still in search of their first. Fleetwood experienced an especially painful defeat at the hands of Taylor last year and hopes to play himself back into contention as does Young who has already notched a runner-up result in 2024.

Sahith Theegala, Sam Burns and Lowry all have eyes on getting back into the winner's circle with others such as Adam Scott, Tom Kim and Keith Mitchell all potentially factoring over the weekend in Canada.

2024 RBC Canadian Open schedule

Dates:  May 30 - June 2 Location:  Hamilton Golf & Country Club — Ontario, Canada Par:  70 |  Yardage:  7,084

2024 RBC Canadian Open field, odds

  • Rory McIlroy (4-1): Post-Masters McIlroy is finding his groove. A winner in two of his last three starts, the Northern Irishman returns to a comfortable spot on the calendar and will put his affinity for national opens to the test. Driving the golf ball perhaps as well as ever, McIlroy can thank an uptick in his iron play for his uptick in hardware. While he did not break his decade-long major championship drought at Valhalla, he performed adequately and should be in the mix late on Sunday.
  • Tommy Fleetwood (16-1): It is not a matter of "if" but "when" Fleetwood will breakthrough for his long-awaited win on the PGA Tour. Last year's tournament had all the makings of it as the Englishman stood on the tee on the accessible par-5 18th needing birdie to secure victory in regulation. Unable to succeed, Fleetwood fell short once again and will try to make amends this week following a string of mixed results highlighted by a podium finish at the Masters and top-15 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship.
  • Corey Conners (20-1): The top Canadian on the board is doing everything we expect from Conners. One of the most accurate drivers on the PGA Tour and a lethal approach player, the 32-year-old is in need of a massive week with his short game if he is to contend. After missing five cuts across his first six Canadian Opens, Conner has found his footing in his home country's open with a sixth-place finish in 2022 and top 20 last year.
  • Sahith Theegala (20-1)
  • Shane Lowry (22-1): It has been a memorable month for Lowry as he snatched his first PGA Tour victory since his Open triumph and added to major championship record books with his third-round 63 at the PGA Championship. Contending at Valhalla, the Irishman leaned on an unusually hot putter and could be a sign of things to come this summer. He ranks third in this field in strokes gained tee to green and strokes gained approach over the last six months.
  • Sam Burns (22-1)
  • Cameron Young (22-1)
  • Alex Noren (22-1): The former top-10 player in the world is quietly playing some of the best golf on the PGA Tour. It has been nearly three months since Noren has finished outside the top 25 on a leaderboard highlighted by a podium result at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and T12 finish at the PGA Championship in his last start out. He is doing just about everything right as he ranks third in total strokes gained over the last six months.
  • Maverick McNealy (30-1)
  • Adam Scott (30-1)

Mark Latham rejected $20,000 settlement offer from fellow MP Alex Greenwich

A controversial MP refused a hefty offer to settle his lawsuit with a fellow politician over a “vulgar” tweet, court documents have revealed.

Mark Latham rejected an offer to settle his lawsuit with fellow MP Alex Greenwich for $20,000, court documents have revealed.

The Sydney MP launched defamation proceedings against the controversial and then newly independent Mr Latham in May last year following a graphic and homophobic tweet.

In a statement of claim, Mr Greenwich alleged Mr Latham painted him as “not a fit and proper person” to be in parliament because he “engages in disgusting sexual activities”.

Mr Latham defended the lawsuit, with his barrister telling the court that the ex-One Nation MP was defending himself and the comments needed to be read in context of an attack from Mr Greenwich.

In April last year, Mr Greenwich’s lawyer Nicholas Stewart sent a concerns notice – the first step in defamation action – to Mr Latham, Mr Greenwich said in an affidavit that was released by the court on Monday.

The legal letter contained a settlement offer and said Mr Greenwich would not proceed with the lawsuit if Mr Latham issued a public apology.

The legal letter, which was contained in a bundle of documents released by the courts, demanded that Mr Latham post a public apology saying: “On 30 March 2023, I posted a tweet about Alex Greenwich. I made further statements about Mr Greenwich that were published in the Saturday Telegraph on 1 April 2023.

“I unreservedly retract and withdraw both that tweet and those statements. I unreservedly apologise to Mr Greenwich for the hurt and distress caused to him by my communications.”

The settlement offer also included the condition that Mr Latham cover Mr Greenwich’s legal expenses up until that point and pay $20,000.

Mr Latham’s lawyer Danny Eid responded by saying the settlement offer was rejected.

Mr Eid said in his response that the tweet was not defamatory, nor was it defamatory to accuse someone of engaging in a homosexual sexual act.

In his closing submissions to the court last week, Mr Greenwich’s barrister Matt Collins KC said Mr Latham’s tweet ignored Mr Greenwich as an MP with a “proud legislative list of legislative achievements” and reduced him to a “filthy sex act”.

“It caricatured him, it exposed him to ridicule,” Dr Collins said.

“It led in the real world to people saying that they think about him every time they go to the toilet.”

Mr Latham’s barrister Kieran Smark SC, in his closing remarks to the court, reiterated that Mr Latham was “defending” himself by publishing the “crass and vulgar tweet”.

Mr Smark said his client was responding to comments made by Mr Greenwich to the Sydney Morning Herald in which he called Mr Latham a “disgusting human being”.

He asked the court to consider the “context” in which the tweet was made.

“His tweet is not just what’s below, it’s the whole thing and the context … The context is a political one, where this very strong attack is made (referencing to Mr Greenwich’s comments calling Mr Latham ‘disgusting’),” he said.

Following a trial last month, Justice David O’Callaghan has reserved his decision on the matter.

A colourful US traveller will stand trial over allegations she tried to smuggle a 24-karat gold firearm into Australia in her hand luggage.

An alleged killer has denied he gave Charlise Mutten his schizophrenia medication before she was fatally shot, telling a jury he “never touched her”.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do your group trips compare to other travel companies.

Look beyond the price tag and you'll find that compared with most of our competitors: 1) our groups are smaller (rarely more than 16 travelers, very often fewer), 2) our itineraries are more comprehensive,  3) our pricing is inclusive and fair, especially considering the expertise that goes into creating the trips, and 4) small group travel allows for the best possible pricing. The price of our group trips also include emergency medical evacuation and medical expense insurance for each traveler, as well as flight-booking services and the nearly round-the-clock support of our state-of-the-art safety network. Every detail of each group trip, from accommodations and activities to trip flow and transport options, is carefully researched and selected by our destination experts, who travel in the field each year.

How do your Group Trips compare to your Custom Trips?

Our Group Trips treat you and a small group of travelers to exceptional travel experiences at the best possible pricing. Our Custom Trips are private journeys tailored to you and your travel companions or built for you completely from scratch, filled with personalized details, special-access visits, and imaginative touches (the sample itineraries you see online and in our catalog are just meant as starting points and sources of inspiration).

How hard are your trips?

Every trip is different, but here are some general guidelines to help you understand the comfort level. We rate our trips from Easy to Moderate to Rigorous, and include the overarching activity (e.g., Touring, Hiking, Trekking, Safari). Trips called Active include a number of physical activities, such as kayaking and biking. Unless noted, our Touring trips are cultural journeys that do not include hiking, trekking, or other physical activities (though we do a lot of walking in villages, cities, museums, bazaars, etc.). And, with a few exceptions, we don't camp but stay in hotels and lodges—the best accommodations available, wherever we go. We also line up the region's best guides, vehicles and routes, experiences, and cuisine. Rigorous Touring will entail some long drives, often on dirt roads. We classify any tour that involves going to more than 10,000 feet as rigorous. Some of the hotels in remote areas might be basic, and in some places the meals may be inauspicious, hot water inconsistent, and the toilets balky (on long drives there may be no toilets at all, if you don't count a strategically placed boulder). Moderate Touring will be somewhat smoother and richer in modern conveniences; bathroom facilities on drives may be scarce, but hot water more dependable. Easy Touring will compare favorably with tours in Europe.

How hard are your treks?

We use this rule of thumb: if you've ever backpacked you should have no trouble with our treks. In fact, we've taken more than a few people on trek who have never slept in a sleeping bag! The key is a commonsense level of physical conditioning: are you a strong hiker-walker? Can you do a five-hour hike with a couple of thousand feet of gain and loss? Beyond being in good shape, very little is demanded on our treks. On most treks, you'll enjoy deluxe camping, with top-notch gear and support—even cooking impressive meals on the trail. We rate our treks from Easy to Moderate to Rigorous. The differences have to do with length (a long trek is usually called rigorous) and altitude (treks that spend much time over 10,000 feet are classified as rigorous). If trekking doesn't sound up your alley, but you'd like to do some healthy hiking or reach places that vehicles can't, check out the trips in the interest category called Active, which generally include hiking and hotel stays. Our destination experts are happy to talk with you about your wishes and help you find the right adventure.

What precautions do you take for high-altitude trips?

We've taken thousands of people to high altitudes (above 10,000 feet). We're successful with these trips because we stress carefully measured increments in altitude gain (sleeping altitude being the key number); we train our leaders and staff to monitor our clients and keep them from overexerting in the first few days at altitude; and we emphasize hydration and other simple techniques to aid acclimatization (our pre-trip materials go into great detail on this subject). Our most rigorous, high-altitude treks go out with satellite phones, Gamaw bags, and oxygen. Click here for more information on altitude sickness .

How do I book a trip?

The quickest way to make a reservation is to call us at 888-570-7108. We accept check, wire transfer, VISA, and MasterCard for payments. Early reservations are recommended, since Group Trip size is limited and some trips require extra preparation time. For more information, see our Terms of Service .

2024 RBC Canadian Open expert picks, odds: Rory McIlroy favored to win it again

LOUISVILLE, KY - MAY 17: Rory McIlroy watches his shot during the second round of the PGA Championship, May 17, 2024, at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.(Photo by Matthew Maxey/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images)

Rory McIlroy has teed it up at the RBC Canadian Open only three times, but he’s twice won the crown. Will he make it three for four this weekend?

This week, the PGA Tour heads north to Canada for the RBC Canadian Open. The 2023 RBC Canadian Open was one for the history books as a native son, Nick Taylor, won dramatically in a playoff over Tommy Fleetwood. Taylor’s winning putt has been immortalized as part of the RBC Candian Open’s logo in 2024. Taylor will defend his title at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, which last hosted the Canadian Open in 2019.

Rory McIlroy won here in 2019, but he will be facing a different golf course than he did that day. Since the 2019 edition, Hamilton Golf and Country Club has been redesigned by architect Martin Ebert. Bunkers have been removed and the greens have been enlarged with the collars taken out while featuring shaved runoff areas. The golf course only measures 7,084 yards.

In 2019, the leaderboard was packed on Saturday, with Matt Kuchar, Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, and Webb Simpson all poised to push for a title while Adam Hadwin had his best shot to capture a Canadian Open. McIlroy overpowered the golf course on Sunday to win by 7 strokes over his good buddy, Shane Lowry, and Webb Simpson. While the golf course has changed since then, I’m not sure it has been Rory-proofed when it comes to length off the tee being able to overpower it.

How I’m building my projection model this week: Course history and historical statistics are taking a backseat. Current form takes center stage, and I’ve built two different models to come up with the best scenario for DFS lineups. The first model will feature driver distance, while the second will weigh accuracy off the tee a little more. Both models will feature strokes gained on approach, strokes gained from 100-125 yards, and strokes gained from 150-175 yards. The old setup of the course seemed to bring out the best in the short-game specialists, so I will include putting in the models.

Course information

Course: Hamilton Golf and Country Club — Ancaster, Ontario, Canada

Designed by: Harry S. Colt, Redesigned by Martin Ebert

Yardage: 7,058 Yards

Average green size: 6,000 square feet

Features: Martin Ebert’s redesign took out 16 bunkers on the golf course and enlarged the greens while changing the areas around the greens. The greens are bent grass while not allowing the Poa annua to creep in. The golf course has continued to take out trees that changed the landscape while also cutting down the rough a bit. The weather was wet early in the week, so I expect the rough to be lush. The routing through the West and South courses should work well, and I am excited to see the changes to the golf course.

Betting Slip

Rory McIlroy (+400) was a cold putter away from contending at the PGA Championship. A T12 isn’t too shabby when you consider he lost strokes on the greens. He won the Zurich Classic alongside Shane Lowry and the Wells Fargo Championship leading up to that PGA Championship. He gained over 11.5 strokes off the tee and 9.5 strokes on approach combined over his last two tournaments. The field is weak, and Rory has won two of the last three RBC Candian Opens contested. I don’t love taking short favorites, but Rory outclasses this field by a landslide.

Alex Norén (+2500) is playing some of the best golf of his career with eight straight top-25 finishes, including a T12 at the PGA Championship, where he gained over 4.7 strokes on approach. Noren won’t overpower this golf course, but he can use his iron play and excellent around-the-green game to contend.

Cameron Young (+2500) struggled with his approach shots at the PGA Championship more than he has in his entire PGA Tour career. He lost over 5 strokes on approach on the weekend. I expect him to bounce back from those numbers this week and use his off-the-tee game to set himself up for success. He has gained over 4 strokes on the field off the tee in three of his last five tournaments.

Keith Mitchell (+4000) has gained strokes off the tee and on approach in ten straight measured tournaments. He has been cold with the putter so his name falls a little lower than it should in my model this week. He’s been slightly better around the green since the Zurich Classic and is a hot putter away from contending.

Davis Thompson (+5500) has gained over 2.5 strokes off the tee in four of his last five measured events and three straight. He backed up his T2 at the Myrtle Beach Open with a solid T17 at the Charles Schwab Challenge last week.

Rory McIlroy ($12,100) See above.

Sahith Theegala ($10,500) has four top-12 finishes in his last eight events, including a T12 at the PGA Championship, where he gained more than 4 strokes ball-striking for the week. He has been inconsistent around the green, but he has popped with his putter in three of his last six measured events.

Alex Noren ($9,900) See above.

Cameron Young ($9,800) See above.

Maverick McNealy ($9,200) has gained strokes off the tee in nine straight measured events. His price is a little steep this week, even with his improved form. He was only $7,700 last week and finished T17. I’m a big fan of his game and am so happy he is healthy, but I will be underweight on him this week.

Adam Scott ($9,000) has gained strokes off the tee in six of his last seven measured events and has gained strokes on approach in four of his last five measured events. He bounced back from a missed cut at the PGA Championship with a T12 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Aaron Rai ($8,900) has two straight top-13 finishes at the RBC Canadian Open. He likes life north of the border. He has gained over 12 strokes combined on approach in his last three tournaments. His putter has gone cold, losing over 6 strokes combined in his last two tournaments, but his ball-striking numbers can’t be ignored.

Keith Mitchell ($8,700) See above.

Tom Kim ($8,600) has found his swing off the tee, gaining over 7.5 strokes combined off the tee in his last two tournaments. He still hasn’t been able to string four consecutive rounds together, as he only has two top 25s in his last 10 tournaments. I think this could be the week he finally puts four rounds together and contends.

Adam Hadwin ($8,500) has two top-12s in his last three RBC Candian Open tournaments including a 6th place here in 2019. He has six straight-made cuts and three top-six finishes in 2024. I’ll use Adam Hadwin this week, but his numbers don’t look great.

Davis Thompson ($7,800) See above.

Taylor Pendrith ($7,600) missed the cut on the number at the PGA Championship but was playing unreal golf before that. I can forgive him for that and take him at this low price, hoping he can overpower the golf course a bit.

Doug Ghim ($7,400) has two straight top-18 finishes at the RBC Candian Open, and he has made four out of his last five cuts on the PGA Tour. His T35 at the PGA Championship was a nice surprise as a $5,500 play that week.

Adam Svensson ($7,300) has made seven straight cuts and has gained over 3 strokes ball-striking in three straight tournaments. I think he’s a sneaky play as a low Canadian this week after posting his first top 25 since his T10 at the Genesis Invitational.

Séamus Power ($7,200) hasn’t teed it up since his T16 at the Wells Fargo Championship, where he gained over 8.3 strokes ball-striking.

Ryo Hisatsune ($7,000) gained almost 7 strokes on approach at the PGA Championship and is always a decent play if a tournament becomes a putting contest. You have to like his upside at this price.

C.T. Pan ($6,700) gained more than a stroke off the tee at the Charles Schwab Challenge for the first time since the Mexico Open in February. He finished 3rd in 2023 at the RBC Candian Open.

Kevin Tway ($6,700) has five straight made cuts on the PGA Tour and is coming off a T24 at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He is doing a lot of his damage with his short game, so he won’t pop in my models where ball-striking is weighed heavily.

Mac Meissner ($6,500) has six top-26 finishes in his last nine events. He has gained over 9 strokes on approach in his last two events combined. He gained strokes across the board last week, finishing T5 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Bud Cauley ($6,400) is coming off of two straight missed cuts, but he is the type of ball striker I am targeting this week. He will need to fix his putter to pay off, but he has produced decently when he is priced this low in weak events.

Patton Kizzire ($6,300) has four straight top-28 finishes. He has gained over 10 strokes combined on approach in his last two tournaments. He has gained over 2.4 strokes putting in two straight tournaments as well.

Gary Woodland ($6,200) has four straight made cuts in regular non-team events. He is finally putting well, as he has gained over 10.7 strokes putting combined in his last three tournaments. He has the length to make this course very small.

Ben Martin ($6,000) gained over 4.2 strokes on approach at the Charles Schwab Challenge. The last time he hit the ball that well he finished T7 at the Valero Texas Open the following week.

Pierceson Coody ($5,700) had his first top-5 finish on the PGA Tour last week at the Charles Shwab Challenge, where he gained over 3.3 strokes on approach. He struggled with his putter on Sunday.

Richard T. Lee ($5,500) is a decent dart throw at this low price with how well he has played on the Asian Tour. He has two top-13 finishes on that tour in his last three starts.

One and Done

Each week, we will pick in reverse order of the standings, and we can’t duplicate picks in the same week. Reference  this spreadsheet  tracking who we have used.

  • Hugh Kellenberger: $7,250,018.63
  • Brody Miller: $6,439,921.16
  • Dennis Esser: $2,480,211

Dennis Esser: I’m currently riding a three-week streak of WDs and Missed Cuts while using some of the biggest names in the professional golf world. I need a little bit of luck, and what better place to look for luck than the Irishman, Shane Lowry .

Brody Miller:  Tom Kim is simultaneously not quite what we wanted him to be (yet) and still playing some consistent golf and hanging around leaderboards most weekends before falling off. In a relatively weak field, I like Kim to have a big week.

Hugh Kellenberger: A second-straight week where a renovated course has me downplaying course/event history, which I’ve leaned on the most so far this season to some success. So I’m looking for someone with a good body of work that’s gone undervalued — how about Alex Noren , who has a top 5, two total top 10s and eight top 25s in his last eight starts?
