Essay on “A Visit to A Mall” for Students and Children, Best Essay, Paragraph, Speech for Class 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 in English Language.

A Visit to A Mall

I love visiting malls. The mall is a place where people shop, eat, hang out and just have fun. With the coming up of malls in different cities of the country, days of picnicking with family and friends are almost gone. As they do not have much time, people look for entertainment, food and shopping mall at one place. Malls make a suitable outlet to shop and pass time.

Our family recently visited the Heerabai Mall. It is amongst the most happening malls in the city. As we entered the mall, I was amazed. It was by far the largest shopping mall I had ever seen. The mall was packed with people. Kids ran all around the place. There was a big line at the center of the mall, filled with parents and their kids. Later, we found out that the line was formed for the kids that wanted to get their picture taken with Santa Claus.

There were so many stores of different kinds. People wandered around. We went from store to store of our interest. It was quite noisy inside but it all just seemed remarkable to me. Everyone there was dressed well, since it was about Christmas time. There were multi-cuisine food centres and a large movie theatre with several separate rooms with screens. It was known as multiplex cinema. Thus, everything was under one roof. My mother shopped eagerly for monthly rations. We now moved onto shopping for some decorative items and clothes for Christmas.

Shopping always makes me hungry. Thus, we moved towards the food centres. My sister and I ate pizzas. Our parents preferred diet cokes with chicken sandwiches and fruit salad. Food usually makes one lazy and we needed to rest for a while. Still shopping had to be done. Therefore, we chose to see Chhota Bheem movie showing at the multiplex in the mall. It was an adventurous movie.

After the movie was over, we decided to take on another round of shopping. Shopping had just begun to get better. This time we shopped for sports shoes and some accessories for dad. We also saw a sweet store that had assorted range of toffees and chocolates. They were in the shapes of dolls and animals.

Soon enough, it was the time for us to return home. Until now, we had so many carry bags. We had to go down to the parking to put them into our car. We happily headed towards home. Visiting such a mall was an enjoyable and wonderful experience.

Paragraph on My Visit to a Shopping Mall – By Anand

visit to a mall paragraph

Introduction:

A visit to a shopping mall is always exciting for someone who has resided in a rural area all his life.

I was always excited about tall buildings, shopping malls and big restaurants. I happen to have a chance to visit my aunt, who stays in the city.

I had already told her beforehand that the moment I reach, she would take me to a shopping mall to which she had readily agreed.

The shopping mall we went to was not far from her residence and was one of the biggest malls in the city. I was left with my jaw hanging when I looked at the enormity of the structure. It spanned the length equivalent to ten houses in my district. As we were nearing the entry, I felt a gush of cold air coming from inside. Not being very used to air-conditioning, it was a new experience for me. My aunt told me that she would buy new clothes and a bag for me. There was a huge crowd inside the mall and loud music played. At one particular corner, there was a music event in progress.

Shopping At the Mall:

ADVERTISEMENTS:

We entered one of the stores inside the mall and I was astounded to find so many varieties of clothes at the same place. It looked so colourful from a distance. We went from one rack to another looking through t-shirts and jeans. My aunt bought me a pair of jeans and t-shirts. I had never seen the usage of an ATM card before.

Everything was a new experience for me and I was elated the entire time. We then visited a shoe store because even my aunt had to buy new shoes for herself. She couldn’t find her preference in that store. We then visited almost ten different stores. After getting the shoes we went to have lunch.

Lunch at Shopping Mall:

The eateries at the mall were all big and enticing. Food items ranging from burgers, sandwiches, pizzas to Indian, Chinese, continental, etc. were available. My aunt took me to a Chinese eatery where she ordered haka noodles and ginger chicken. It tasted delicious, better than any other fast food I had before. We then had ice-cream for dessert.

Conclusion:

The visit to the shopping mall was a new and exciting experience for me. I saw many new things which I don’t usually get to see at my place. I was brimming with joy holding my new clothes and wearing new shoes. I expressed my desire of visiting the mall again to my aunt to which she smiled and agreed.

500 Words Essay on Shopping Mall

Introduction to shopping malls.

Shopping malls are large buildings filled with many different stores. These stores sell a variety of items, like clothes, shoes, toys, electronics, and food. Shopping malls are a popular place for people to shop because they offer a wide range of products under one roof.

Structure of Shopping Malls

Shopping malls are usually multi-storied buildings. Each floor has a number of shops or stores. There are also escalators or elevators to help people move from one floor to another. Most malls have a food court, where there are many different types of food stalls. Some shopping malls even have movie theaters, play zones for kids, and other entertainment facilities.

Shopping malls offer many benefits. First, they save time. Instead of going to different places to buy different things, you can find everything you need in one place. This makes shopping easier and more convenient. Second, shopping malls offer a wide variety of products. You can compare prices and quality before making a purchase. Lastly, shopping malls are a great place to socialize. You can meet friends, have a meal together, or just spend time browsing the stores.

Challenges of Shopping Malls

Despite the benefits, there are also challenges with shopping malls. One of the main challenges is that they can be very crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. This can make shopping stressful and tiring. Another challenge is that items in shopping malls can be more expensive than in local markets or online stores. This is because the shops in the malls need to pay for their rent and other expenses.

Impact of Shopping Malls on Society

Shopping malls have a big impact on society. They have changed the way people shop and spend their leisure time. Many people prefer to go to shopping malls because they offer a comfortable and convenient shopping environment. They also create jobs for many people, from shopkeepers to security guards. On the other hand, shopping malls can also lead to increased consumerism. People may buy things they don’t really need just because they are available and easy to buy.

In conclusion, shopping malls are an important part of modern life. They offer a convenient place to shop, eat, and have fun. Despite the challenges, they continue to be popular with people of all ages. It is important to be mindful of our spending habits in malls and make wise choices. Shopping malls are more than just places to shop – they are also places where we can spend time with friends and family, and enjoy our leisure time.

Shopping Mall Setting Observations Essay

  • To find inspiration for your paper and overcome writer’s block
  • As a source of information (ensure proper referencing)
  • As a template for you assignment

Introduction

Setting of the mall, choreography of movement of people inside the mall, developments of hierarchy of space, reactions of people while i move into a different place.

This essay is mainly about a shopping mall I visited recently. It includes the setting of the mall, choreography in the movements of people in the mall, developments of hierarchy of space in the mall etc. I have also included a description of reactions of a few people while I was walking in a beach.

There are two entrances to the mall. First one is near the car parking area in the left side of the building and the large entrance is in front of the mall. This large entrance is beautifully decorated to attract people who pass through the road. There are two exits also; one on the right side of the building and the other one in the entrance near car parking area. Security guards have been placed near the entrances and exits.

The shops are arranged in a circular shape inside the mall. There is a wonderful statue at the center of the circle. Six floors are there in the mall and each of them is specially arranged for selling different kinds of articles. Four elevators are arranged around the circle.

First floor is particularly arranged for selling food items. The right side corner is reserved only for ATMs. Second floor locates clothe stores. Different brand names have been advertised on the walls of these stores. Ornament shops are arranged on the third floor. There are separate shops for ornaments from different countries. One side of this floor consists of shops for selling antiques. There are four such shops on this floor. Fourth floor is specially designed for kids. Some of the shops are for kids’ wears and some others for toys. The last floor is for selling electronic goods like mobile phone, computer, etc.

The walls of the building are painted with different dark colors. Small and big advertisement boards are hung on the walls. But the advertisement of a telecom service provider is larger than all others. It is placed opposite to the main entrance. All shops have more than one security staff.

There are significant changes in the movement of people inside the mall. Number of youngsters is very high compared to other age groups. Only very few people come to the mall with intention to buy something. They purchase whatever they want and go back. But most people talk each other and visit shop by shop. Their intention is not only to purchase something but they also want to enjoy the place. Some people come with kids and they make use of the baby carriers which are available in the mall. The crowd is comparatively big on the first and second floors. Visitors walk through these floors very carefully and slowly to avoid collision.

The arrangement of floors of the mall is made with certain intentions. The first floor is allowed for supplying food items for the convenience of the customers. This is the space where large number of customers can be expected. As the shops are arranged around a circle, it is possible to view all of them standing in the middle of the circle. So, it is very easy for the customers to locate the shops that they want to visit.

I observed a few people while I was walking in the beach. The reactions of people were quite different from people in the mall. In the beach the people concentrated in interacting with each other. They did not want to purchase anything. Some people just looked at me for a moment while they were chatting with each other and they continued their activities after understanding me as an unfamiliar face.

Setting of shopping malls and hierarchy of spaces in the mall are something which should be done carefully. It should be in such a way to satisfy different kinds of customers. Behavior and movement of people inside the shopping mall is quite different from other places.

Essay on “Visit to a Mall” for Kids and Students, English, Paragraph, Speech for Class 8, 9, 10, 12, College and Competitive Exams.

Visit to a Mall

Gone are those leisurely picnic days with the budding of malls all over the country. People have lesser time and seek entertainment, food and shopping mall at one place. Malls make a convenient outlet for us. Our family recently visited the Hyderabad Central. Hyderabad Central is amongst the most happening malls in the city. There are multi-cuisine food courts, multi-plex cinema and of all kinds under one roof. Mother enthusiastically for monthly rations. We now me shopping for clothes for Diwali. There were so many bags we had to go down to the parking to put them into our car!

Shopping always makes me hungry. We now moved on towards the multi-cuisine food courts whilst my sister and I preferred to gorge on pizzas, our parents preferred diet coke with sandwiches and cold salad. Now food usually makes one lethargic and we needed to rest. Still shopping had to be done. So we opted to view the Harry Potter movie showing at the multi-plex. It was a lovely movie. My sister slept through half of it.

The time was apt for tea before we could take on another bout of shopping. This time we shopped for shoes and accessories. The sweet mart had an assorted range of toffees and jujubes. Very artistically molded chocolates and peppermint were in shapes of animals and dolls. Shopping had just begun to get better. I love visiting malls.

English Essay/Paragraph/Speech on ‘Visit to a Shopping Complex’ for Kids and Students for Class 8, 9, 10, Class 12 and Graduation Examination

Visit to a Shopping Complex

My mother and I took the lift from the second level of the underground car-park to get to the ground floor of the shopping complex. The moment we stepped out of the lift, we were greeted by a blast of cool air and the blare of music from a music shop nearby. I could see a goldsmith’s shop, two music shops, a pharmacy, two book stalls, a video shop, an optician’s shop and a large super-market.

Two very old guards sat in front of the goldsmith’s shop. They were nodding off. I wondered if they could cope if robbers were to come to the shop.

A “cheap sale” of clothes was going on in the middle of the foyer. The crowd there was so thick that it was impossible to get near the clothes. We walked past the mad crowd and entered into the supermarket. We picked out the things we wanted and put them in a trolley. When we had finished, I pushed the trolley to the check-out counter where my mother paid for the things we took.

Fortunately, there were few people in the supermarket. The cheap sale had attracted the crowd. So, it did not take us long to buy what we came for. We came out of the supermarket and passed the mad crowd. I noticed that one of the old guards at the goldsmith’s was actually snoring! Anyhow, we proceeded to the lift and left the shopping complex.

A walking tour of Washington, DC’s National Mall

Get to know Washington, DC, with this walking tour along the National Mall. Getty Images

This article is adapted from the most recent Pocket Washington, DC guidebook written by Karla Zimmerman.

Folks often call Washington, DC ’s National Mall “America’s Front Yard.” It is indeed a lawn, unfurling 2 miles of scrubby green grass from the Capitol west to the Lincoln Memorial. It’s also where citizens come to protest their government and connect with the nation’s most-cherished ideals writ large in monuments and museums. Iconic monuments dot the grounds to the west, hulking Smithsonian museums to the east, and at the northern edge, the White House.

Exploring each of the Mall’s museums, monuments and memorials would take days, and museum fatigue will hit quickly if you try to do too much.  This is a hit parade of DC’s most celebrated sights. Start early, especially in summer, to avoid the crowds and the heat.

How to get to and around the National Mall

Take the Metro to Smithsonian (Orange, Silver and Blue Lines) and L’Enfant Plaza (Orange, Silver, Blue, Green and Yellow Lines) for most sights. Get off at Foggy Bottom-GWU (Orange, Silver, Blue Lines) for the Lincoln and Vietnam Memorials – though they’re about a mile from the station.

Most visitors choose to walk between stops . The DC Circulator National Mall bus leaves Union Station and travels around the Mall and Tidal Basin, stopping at the main sights.

Where to eat on the National Mall

The Mall is lacking in eating and drinking choices. The best option is to head to the cafes in the National Museum of African American History & Culture, National Museum of the American Indian or the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden at the start of the lunch period to score a table and have first dibs at the dishes in the bains-marie.

Start: Vietnam Veterans Memorial Finish: White House Distance: 4 miles, 1.5 hours without stops

Now that you have your bearings, let’s begin our walking tour of the Mall’s top sites. This is a packed itinerary, so if you want to linger longer at each stop, split it up over a couple of days.

Sunrise is reflected in "The Wall", a large memorial listing names of those lost in the Vietnam War. A large stone obelist-shaped monument is in the background

1. Vietnam Veterans Memorial

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial reflects a roll call of the war’s 53,000-plus American casualties. The wall lists soldiers’ names chronologically according to the date they died (and alphabetically within each day). Check the symbol beside each name. A diamond indicates "killed, body recovered;" a plus sign indicates "missing and unaccounted for." There are approximately 1200 of the latter. If a soldier returns alive, a circle is inscribed around the plus sign. To date, no circles appear.

Top tip: Paper indices at each end of the wall let you look up individual names and get their panel location. Or you can look electronically via the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund , which also provides photos and further info on each name.

A vast white-stone sculpture of a man sat on a chair in a space with decorative columns. Text engraved into the wall above says "In this temple as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever."

2. Lincoln Memorial

Follow the masses to the Lincoln Memorial . Whatever the lure, a visit here while looking out over the Reflecting Pool is a defining DC moment. Commune with Abe in his chair (his face and hands are particularly realistic since they are based on castings done when he was president), then head down the steps to the marker where Martin Luther King Jr gave his "Dream" speech. From here, the view of the Reflecting Pool and Washington Monument is one of DC’s best. The Reflecting Pool was modeled on the canals at Versailles and Fontainebleau.

Top tip: For an even better experience, v isit the memorial at night. It’s well-lit and particularly atmospheric once the sun sets (plus there’s less crowd jostling).

3. Martin Luther King Jr Memorial

Mosey to the Tidal Basin; the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial stands by the water. Opened in 2011, this was the first Mall memorial to honor an African American. Besides Dr King’s striking, 30-ft-tall image, known as the Stone of Hope, there are two blocks of granite behind him that represent the Mountain of Despair. A wall inscribed with King’s powerful quotes about democracy, justice and peace flank the piece.

4. National WWII Memorial

Stop at the end of the Tidal Basin, and you’ve arrived at the National WWII Memorial . Dedicated in 2004, this grandiose memorial honors the 16 million US soldiers who served in WWII. Groups of veterans regularly come here to pay their respects to the 400,000 Americans who died as a result of the conflict. The Freedom Wall is studded with 4048 hand-sculpted gold stars, one for every 100 Americans who lost their lives in the war (the stars are replicas of those worn by mothers who lost their sons in the fighting). Bas-relief panels depict both combat and the mobilization of the home front. There’s also an information kiosk where you can look through the registry of war veterans.

5. Washington Monument

As you approach the Washington Monument  look a third of the way up. See how it’s slightly lighter in color at the bottom? Builders had to use different marble after the first source dried up. Rising on the Mall like an exclamation point, this 555-ft obelisk embodies the awe and respect the nation felt for George Washington, the US’ first president and founding father. It’s DC’s loftiest structure, and by federal law, no local building can reach above it.

If you want to go inside the monument, an elevator takes you to the sky-high observation deck that provides grand city vistas. On the way back down, the elevator slows so you can glimpse some of the 195 memorial stones that decorate the shaft’s interior. You’ll need a ticket to get in. Same-day passes are available at the kiosk by the monument, but during peak season, reserve tickets in advance. Allow an hour for your visit from start to finish.

Top tip: Don’t bring food, drinks or large backpacks. You’re not allowed to take them up to the observation deck, and there are no storage lockers to put them in at the entrance.

6. National Museum of African American History & Culture

On the other side of the Washington Monument, this sensational museum covers the diverse African American experience and how it helped shape the nation. Start downstairs in the sobering "Slavery and Freedom" exhibition and work your way up.

On the 2nd floor, look for the stools from a segregated Woolworth’s lunch counter at Greensboro, North Carolina – the site of a 1960 sit-in that led to the company's removal of its policy of racial segregation. The community and culture galleries on the 3rd and 4th floors celebrate African American achievements in sports, music, theater and visual arts.

Top tip: This museum is very popular, and daily visitor numbers are capped; it’s best to book online months in advance or try for one of the same-day tickets released online at 6:30am daily.

7. National Air and Space Museum

Cross over the lawn, step inside the Air and Space Museum and gaze up. Lindbergh’s Spirit of St Louis and Chuck Yeager’s sound barrier-breaking Bell X-1 are among the history-making machines that hang from the ceiling. The Wright Brothers get their own gallery (2nd floor), and its centerpiece is the 1903 biplane they built and flew at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903. That’s right: the world’s first airplane is here. On the same floor, Amelia Earhart’s natty red Lockheed 5B Vega shines in the Pioneers of Flight gallery (2nd floor).

Other highlights include the Apollo Lunar Test Module (resembling the module that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped out of as the first men on the moon), Skylab (America’s first space station, and How Things Fly, an interactive, kid-friendly exhibit where you can find out your weight on the moon and see a wind tunnel in action.

Top tip: Download the museum’s free GO FLIGHT app, either before you arrive or on-site using the free wi-fi. It provides extra content about popular items in the collection.

8. National Gallery of Art

Walk across the Mall to the neoclassical west building of the National Gallery of Art , home to an extraordinary collection of art spanning the Middle Ages to the present. It’s one of America’s greatest cultural institutions.

The neoclassical West Building showcases European art through to the early 1900s; highlights include works by Manet, Monet and Van Gogh, with the western hemisphere’s only Leonardo da Vinci painting on display in Gallery 6. The IM Pei-designed East Building displays modern and contemporary art – don’t miss Pollock’s Number 1, 1950 (Lavender Mist) , Picasso’s Family of Saltimbanques and the massive Calder mobile specially commissioned for the entrance lobby. An underground walkway connects the buildings and is made extraordinary by Leo Villareal’s light sculpture, Multiverse .

Top tip: If you’re short on time, take the free, multilanguage “Director’s Tour” audio guide, which introduces the gallery’s highlights. It’s available from a desk near the main entrance.

9. National Archives

Enter the rotunda at the National Archives. The Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights unfurl on parchment under glass. The star documents are laid out chronologically from left to right in the rotunda. Don’t expect to linger over any of them – guards make you keep moving.

Top tip: In spring and summer, reserve tickets in advance on the website for $1.50 each. This lets you go through the fast-track entrance on Constitution Dr, rather than the general entrance, where lines can be lengthy.

Exterior of the White House -- a large symmetrical colonnaded property with an American flag flying above it

10. White House

Stroll up Pennsylvania Ave to E St NW and the White House and snap pictures across the South Lawn. The White House stuns visitors with its sense of pomp and circumstance, yet it also charms with little traces left behind by those who have lived here before, which includes every US president since John Adams. Icon of the American presidency? Yeah. But it’s also someone’s home. Bonus points if you capture a helicopter landing on the grass.
