- Top Selangor Attractions
![tourist spots in selangor tourist spots in selangor](https://www.malaysia-traveller.com/images/airbnbmelakaad3.jpg)
I have compiled this list of my favourite Top Selangor Attractions based on my travels and family outings over the past 10 years or so.
Selangor, or Selangor Darul Ehsan to give it its formal name, is the most developed and heavily populated of Malaysia's 13 states (estimated population as at January 2012 is over 5.5million). It is also the richest with a large share of the nation's industry and commerce concentrated here.
Selangor completely surrounds the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya which were built on land which once belonged to Selangor.
Selangor bears the scars of more than 100 years of development. Tin mining has left its mark but many of the resulting excavations have been converted into lakes for recreational or other uses. In much of the state, there is little trace of the original primary rain forest which was cleared long ago, firstly for rubber plantations which have since been replaced by oil palms or for development.
However it is still a very green state with plenty of parks and forest reserves and, along its eastern fringe there are still huge swathes of jungle covered hills to explore and enjoy.
My list of Top Selangor Attractions is a mix of urban and nature activities and, if you live or are staying anywhere within the Klang valley, they are all easily reachable within an hour or two's driving so very suitable for a weekend outing or day trip.

To tell the truth, I am so glad that I came across your article because I really like discovering new places and I think Selangor is a truly incredible place. I would really like to visit Kuala Selangor Beach because I think that it is the best opportunity to get aesthetic pleasure and unforgettable emotions because this place has a truly unique concept. Of course, it is one of the best places to take gorgeous pictures and enjoy the beauty of nature. Also, I think that Kajang Heritage Centre is the best way to get closer to the art and delve into the history, being filled up with special feelings. I think that it is the best opportunity to expand your mind and discover new interesting facts about the Kajang town & Hulu Langat District. It is really tough to be indifferent to Selangor Fruit Valley because this place can immerse you in a special atmosphere and, in my opinion, it is the best way to look at nature from a different angle.

Malaysia in the lead for complimentary places of interest
Malacca, kuching, george town listed as top 5 places in asia for free-entry tourist attractions.
- 16-06- 2024 01:19 PM
![Malaysia in the lead for complimentary places of interest Malaysia in the lead for complimentary places of interest](https://thesun.my/binrepository/the-best-places-in-asia-for-free-entry-tourist-attractions_4270463_20240616141112.jpg)
MALAYSIA has dominated the first five spots in the best places in Asia for free-entry tourist attractions category, according to a recent study by online lender CashNetUSA.
In terms of availability of free attractions, Malacca was ranked second (9.79%), Kuching stood at third (9.30%) while George Town was placed fourth (7.87%).
Free-entry attractions in Malacca include Jonker Street, the Dutch Square or Red Square, St. Paul’s Hill and A Famosa Fort. These attractions also have their own internal mini free-entry attractions or nearby attractions, such as the Malacca Heritage Centre and Cheng Hoon Teng Temple on Jonker Street.
In Kuching, free-entry attractions consist of the Waterfront Esplanade, Mount Santubong, Carpenter Street and more.
For George Town, attractions include Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang Botanic Gardens, the graphic art on many streets, Penang Hill, Goddess of Mercy Temple and various other temples, among many more attractions.
In Asia, Macau boasts the highest proportion of free attractions (10.06%). For high-quality free attractions in Asia, nowhere beats Nepal, with 76.32% of its free attractions getting 4.5 stars or above.
There is no escaping how going on a vacation is costly. Even after factoring in the cost of travel, accommodation and food, tourist attractions and activities can be notoriously expensive. But look past the long lines and currency signs, you will find that every tourist destination has something to offer for no cost at all.
Even the most popular destinations have free things to do. For example, Paris is a leading travel destination for tourists across the globe and just a short walk away from the busy Louvre is the free to enter and just as Instagram-worthy Petit Palais art museum.
In the context of travel, free does not necessarily mean a lesser-quality experience. After all, a common saying is that the best things in life are free. Other than these examples, there are other tourist destinations across the world that boast some of the best quality, free attractions.
The study by CashNetUSA analysed publicly available traveller reviews for free attractions on offer at nearly 1,000 vacation destinations to uncover the tourist spots with the best availability (and best quality) of free attractions.
