Paul Merton , Richard Vranch , Suki Webster , Mike McShane and accompanist Kirsty Newton are back on the road in 2022 to visit some of their favourite parts of the UK with another evening of mind-blowing improvisation. The collective improvisational experience embodied in the Chums is a joy to behold. They flex their improvisational muscles to delight and entertain audiences in this country and abroad.

Paul Merton's IMPRO CHUMS Announces UK Tour

The tour is set to begin on March 25th.

Mick Perrin Worldwide in association with Mandy Ward Artist Management will present Paul Merton 's IMPRO CHUMS. Paul Merton , Richard Vranch, Suki Webster, Mike McShane and accompanist Kirsty Newton are back on the road in 2022 to visit some of their favourite parts of the UK with another evening of improvisation. The collective improvisational experience embodied in the Chums is a joy to behold. They flex their improvisational muscles to delight and entertain audiences. The tour begins on March 25th. Paul Merton is a founder member of The Comedy Store Players, and he still appears at the Comedy Store in London most Sundays. He is a resident guest on BBC Radio 4's Just A Minute and is an established face on TV shows such as the hugely popular Have I Got News For You, Room 101, Paul Merton Looks at Alfred Hitchcock (BBC4/2), Paul Merton 's Birth of Hollywood (BBC 2) and his travel series for Channel Five, Paul Merton 's Adventures which covered his travels in India, China and Europe. His Autobiography, Only When I Laugh reached the Sunday Times bestseller Top 10 and in the summer of 2021 he co-starred with Suki in Motorhoming with Paul Merton and Suki Webster a six part travel documentary series for Channel 5.

Mike McShane has been lucky enough to live by improvising with friends and making friends by improvising. He appeared at the Menier Chocolate Factory in Little Shop of Horrors and Stephen Sondheim 's Assassins. TV work includes Doctor Who, Bluestone 42 (BBC) , NCIS LA (CBS) and Wayward Pines (FOX)Currently he can be seen in the webisode western, Red Bird. Richard Vranch improvises comedy in The Comedy Store Players and provides voices for documentaries and adverts. He also works as a writer, stand-up comic and actor. He's presented a science series on Channel 4 and has appeared on BBC Radio 4's Infinite Monkey Cage with Prof Brian Cox . Richard has toured the world from Mexico to Palestine acting in sketch shows and appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe since 1979.

Suki Webster is a regular guest of The Comedy Store Players and has toured the world with Paul Merton 's Impro Chums. In 2021 Suki co-starred with Paul in Motorhoming with Paul Merton and Suki Webster a six-part travel documentary series for Channel 5. My Obsession, a comedy drama series, which she wrote and starred in was aired on Radio 4 in June 2019. Other TV work includes Giles Wemmbley Hogg (BBC 2) and Ross Noble 's directorial debut The Catchment (Sky.) She has also written five documentaries for the BBC TV. Her own improvisation show Suki Webster's Guest Speaker continues to grow in its success.

Kirsty Newton is a regular musical guest with The Comedy Store Players and has toured with Arthur Smith , Rich Hall, Phil Nichol , Mitch Benn and Jonny & The Baptists amongst many others. She was the musical improviser for Whose Line Is It Anyway? at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019 and her solo show Life Begins At Party! won critical acclaim in 2016.

Kirsty Newton is a regular musical guest with The Comedy Store Players and has toured with Arthur Smith, Rich Hall, Phil Nichol, Mitch Benn and Jonny & The Baptists amongst many others. She was the musical improviser for Whose Line Is It Anyway? at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019 and her solo show Life Begins At Party! won critical acclaim in 2016.

The collective improvisational experience embodied in the Chums is a joy to behold. They flex their improvisational muscles to delight and entertain audiences in this country and abroad.

Paul Merton  is a founder member of The Comedy Store Players, he still appears at the Comedy Store in London most Sundays. He is a resident guest on BBC Radio 4’s  Just A Minute  and is an established face on TV shows such as the hugely popular  Have I Got News For You, Room 101, Paul Merton Looks at Alfred Hitchcock  (BBC4/2) , Paul Merton’s Birth of Hollywood  (BBC 2) and his travel series for Channel Five,  Paul Merton’s Adventures  which covered his travels in India, China and Europe. His Autobiography,  Only When I Laugh  reached the Sunday Times bestseller Top 10 and in the summer of 2021 he co-starred with Suki in  Motorhoming with Paul Merton and Suki Webster a six part travel documentary series for Channel 5.

Mike McShane  has been lucky enough to live by improvising with friends and making friends by improvising. He appeared at the Menier Chocolate Factory in  Little Shop of Horrors  and Stephen Sondheim’s  Assassins.  TV work includes  Doctor Who, Bluestone 42  (BBC) , NCIS LA (CBS) and Wayward Pines (FOX)Currently he can be seen in the webisode western, Red Bird. Richard Vranch  improvises comedy in The Comedy Store Players and provides voices for documentaries and adverts. He also works as a writer, stand-up comic and actor. He's presented a science series on Channel 4 and has appeared on BBC Radio 4's Infinite Monkey Cage with Prof Brian Cox. Richard has toured the world from Mexico to Palestine acting in sketch shows and appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe since 1979.

Suki Webster  is a regular guest of The Comedy Store Players and has toured the world with  Paul Merton's Impro Chum s. In 2021 Suki co-starred with Paul in  Motorhoming with Paul Merton and Suki Webster a six-part travel documentary series for Channel 5.   My Obsession , a comedy drama series, which she wrote and starred in was aired on Radio 4 in June 2019.  Other TV work includes  Giles Wemmbley Hogg  (BBC 2) and Ross Noble’s directorial debut  The Catchment  (Sky.)   She has also written five documentaries for theBBC TV .   Her own improvisation show  Suki Webster’s Guest Speaker  continues to grow in its success.

Kirsty Newton  is a regular musical guest with The Comedy Store Players and has toured with Arthur Smith, Rich Hall, Phil Nichol, Mitch Benn and Jonny & The Baptists amongst many others.  She was the musical improviser for  Whose Line Is It Anyway?  at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019 and her solo show Life Begins At Party! won critical acclaim in 2016.

Maroon 5 will keep the “Memories” coming into 2022 with a new set of North American dates this summer. This year, the band will also celebrates the 20th anniversary of their breakout smash debut album, Songs About Jane , as they continue to tour the globe in support of their 2021 effort Jordi .

What Is Maroon 5’s Next Tour?

Maroon 5’s new North American leg follows a career-defining performance at Egypt’s Great Pyramids of Giza on May 3rd and concerts in Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv as well as a previously announced stop in Sacramento on June 3rd. The tour officially kicks off in Toronto on June 11th and treks through Canadian cities including Quebec City, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton before returning stateside to Billings, Montana on August 8th. They travel along the northern US to the likes of Fargo, South Dakota; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Green Bay, Wisconsin before returning to Canada to wrap in Montreal on August 20th.

Who Is Opening for Maroon 5 on Tour?

No supporting acts have been announced so far for the latest North American leg, but the band was joined most recently by blackbear and Ava Max during their 2021 outing.

How Can I Get Tickets for Maroon 5’s 2022 Tour?

Members of Maroon 5’s S.I.N. Club will have first access to pre-sale tickets starting April 26th at 10:00 a.m. local time. The stories that matter on money and politics in the race for the White House

Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich has appeared in a Russian court to stand trial in a secret proceeding on charges of espionage amid US efforts to secure his release in a prisoner exchange. 

Video footage published by state media showed Gershkovich standing in a glass cage at a district court in Ekaterinburg, a city in Russia’s defence-industrial heartland in the Ural Mountains, ahead of the hearing on Wednesday.

Gershkovich faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison if he is found guilty of espionage.

Officials have not provided any evidence of Gershkovich’s alleged guilt, despite the Kremlin’s claim to have caught him “red-handed”, or given any information on the scope and duration of his trial. The next hearing will be held on August 13.

US officials are negotiating with Russia for a potential prisoner swap involving Gershkovich and Paul Whelan, a US marine veteran jailed for 16 years on similar charges in 2020, in exchange for Russians held in the west.

The US embassy in Moscow on Wednesday said Gershkovich “has done nothing wrong and never should have been arrested. His case is not about evidence, procedural norms or the rule of law. It is about the Kremlin using American citizens to achieve its political objectives.

“Russia should stop using individuals like Evan Gershkovich or Paul Whelan as bargaining chips. They should both be released immediately.” 

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has said the Kremlin is open to an exchange involving Gershkovich through a “quiet, calm professional approach and dialogue between the secret services”.

Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, said the trial was “an important element of examining the case” but said he would not “predict any kind of time period in which some further steps or other will be taken” over an exchange.

Ryabkov said the US needed to “take a serious look at the signals Washington has received through the appropriate channels”, according to Interfax.

Prosecutors claimed Gershkovich was in Ekaterinburg on an assignment for the CIA to obtain “secret information” about production and repair efforts at Uralvagonzavod, a large tank factory, when he was arrested in March 2023.

The WSJ vehemently denies the charges against Gershkovich, while the US has declared that he has been wrongfully detained.

Emma Tucker, the WSJ’s editor-in-chief, said the proceedings would “not be a trial as we understand it, with a presumption of innocence and a search for the truth”, in a letter to readers published on Wednesday.

“We already know the conclusion,” she added. “This bogus accusation of espionage will inevitably lead to a bogus conviction for an innocent man who would then face up to 20 years in prison for simply doing his job.”

The WSJ also released a statement from Gershkovich’s family, who said: “These past 15 months have been extraordinarily painful for Evan and for our family. We miss our son and just want him home.”

Gershkovich is one of several journalists arrested in Russia after Putin promptly banned all dissent following his full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

They include Alsu Kurmasheva , a US-Russian dual national journalist at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty who was arrested while visiting family last year. She faces up to 10 years in prison on charges of not registering as a “foreign agent” and “disseminating false information” about Russia’s armed forces, which she denies.

Gershkovich’s probable conviction is likely to be a prelude to a potential prisoner swap that could involve other US citizens jailed in Russia.

The US has previously swapped high-profile Russian prisoners for Americans in Russian custody, including arms dealer Viktor Bout who was traded for US basketball star Brittney Griner following her sentencing on drug charges in 2022.

Putin strongly hinted in February that he was demanding in exchange the release of Vadim Krasikov, a hitman sentenced to life in prison in Germany in 2021.

Efforts to swap Krasikov for Gershkovich, Whelan and jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny, however, collapsed when the dissident died in a remote Arctic penal colony months later.

Navalny’s supporters have accused Putin of murdering him to scupper the deal. Putin said in March he had agreed to an informal proposal to release Navalny on the condition that he never returned to Russia but denied any involvement in his “tragic” death.

People briefed on the talks say the Russian president is fixated on releasing Krasikov, who murdered a former Chechen militant in broad daylight in a Berlin park in 2019.

Russia has jailed several more Americans in recent months, including Gordon Black, a US soldier who was arrested on theft charges while visiting his girlfriend in the eastern city of Vladivostok in May and sentenced to nearly four years in prison last week.

Ksenia Khavana, a US-Russian dual national, went on trial last week in Ekaterinburg on treason charges for sending a pro-Ukrainian group $51.80 on the first day of Moscow’s invasion. Judge Andrei Mineyev, who is also overseeing Gershkovich’s case, ordered proceedings to be held in secret in that trial too.
