KTO announces new selection of ‘Outstanding Incentive Tour Programs’

kto incentive tour 2023

19 programs selected as winners of ‘Korea Outstanding Incentive Tour Program’ Competition.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Park Bo-Gyun) and the Korea Tourism Organization (Acting President Shin Sang-Yong) selected the winners of the ‘Korea Outstanding Incentive Tour Program Competition’ and held an Awards Ceremony on July 20th at Coex in Seoul.

The competition was held in June with the purpose of selecting and fostering excellent incentive tour programs. A total of 55 entries were submitted, and the final 19 were selected through a 2-part screening process. The selected programs were chosen for their ability to reflect the latest trends, including K-contents, K-pop and beauty, ESG tourism, and wellness tourism. The selected finalists offer new incentive tour programs which are set apart from those offered in the past.

KTO will provide a reward of 10 million won to the winning entries, support for up to five Fam Tours for program promotion and evaluation, and various support for marketing and commercialization of the programs.

Meanwhile, the Awards Ceremony held at COEX in Seoul on July 20th was attended by Seo Young-Choong, Executive Vice President of the International Tourism Division of KTO, and about 60 representatives from the finalist travel agencies.

Moon Sang-Ho, Director of the MICE Marketing Team at KTO, said, “Inbound incentive groups to Korea in the future will have the joy of selecting from a wide variety of new programs selected through this competition.” He continued, “We will continue to strive to make Korea a top incentive travel destination through various promotional activities.”

With The Rising Popularity Of Korea Amongst Indians, KTO Hosts Travel Mart, Korean Festival 2023!

Photo of Tanvi Shah (travelstoriesbytan)

Korea’s popularity has been on the rise in India! KTO recently organised the Korean Tourism Festival 2023 which kicked off with an enchanting gala night, celebrating cultural connections and vibrant experiences. The festival’s success underscored Korea’s rising popularity among Indian travellers.

This festive event not only strengthened cultural bonds but also marked 50 years of harmonious diplomacy between Korea and India. The event saw the presence of Younggeun Lee, Executive Director of the Korea Tourism Organization, and Roshan M Thomas, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, underlining the importance of this cross-cultural collaboration.

Keeping in mind the driving points for Indian tourists visiting Korea for K-culture, K-drama and K-Pop, KTO is developing tour programmes with multiple collaborations with many travel agencies in Korea and India aimed at understanding the interests of both sides with an aim to promote tourism to the country!

Aim of The Korea Culture And Tourism Festival:

KTO is looking at working with the Indian partners to actively promote MICE tourism to the country. They are building a network of companies and introducing their programmes to be used as an incentive tour. At the same time, also offering financial support to the visiting tours.

Main Benefits of The Incentive Scheme:

Earlier in June 2023, KTO had announced a special incentive scheme at an event in Mumbai held in collaboration with OTOAI. The main benefits include providing travel agents with prizes of INR 2,500 per passenger and support for quick, simple and hassle-fee tour visas for visitors to Korea between June and December 2023! Perhaps, Korea could consider ease of travel for subsequent visits by Indian travellers or open it to those holding Shengen visa and look at introducing more flights to improve connectivity!

KTO data reveals that Indian visitors to Korea had surpassed 49,580 by June 2023, with projections reaching an impressive 120,000 by December 2023!

To further strengthen the connection, KTO has appointed Indian television actress and model, Anushka Sen, as the Honorary Ambassador of Korea Tourism from India.
