The cost for this tour is normally $45 per seat for this 3 hour tour.  However, your group’s size and other consideration may effect the actual cost.

If you don’t have a Military ID Card – You MUST purchase your tour tickets at least 14 days in advance to ensure time for your military clearance to be obtained for the tour.  If clearance is not granted, a full refund will be given.  Military ID Card holders can book a tour up to the day of the tour.  While SA Flight, Inc. will submit passenger names for clearance, each individual passenger is responsible for military clearance for installation access.

An air conditioned motor coach tour to Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Tour begins and ends at Veterans Memorial Plaza on Auditorium Circle by the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.  Fort Sam Houston is part of Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), the largest military complex in the United States (maybe the world).  Tour includes visits to the Historic Quadrangal, the Fort Sam Houston Museum and the Army Medical Command Museum. There will be an audio-visual history presentation during travel.  Points of interest on historic Fort Sam Houston and other points of interest will be seen. Since 1718, when the armed Presidio de Béxar was established to defend the Spanish missions, the military has played a key role in San Antonio’s development, and it remains one of the largest employers in town today. The 3,434-acre Fort Sam Houston, which currently hosts the Army Medical Command and the headquarters of the Fifth Army, affords visitors an unusual opportunity to view the city’s military past; the first military flight in history took off from the fort’s spacious parade grounds, for example. Most of the historic buildings are still in use and thus off-limits, but two are open to the public. Located in the Quadrangle —an impressive 1876 limestone structure centered on a brick clock tower and enclosing a grassy square where peacocks and deer roam freely—is the Fort Sam Houston Museum, Building 16 (tel. 210/221-1886; free admission; Mon–Fri 10am–4pm, Sat noon–4pm). Its six rooms, containing some 8,200 artifacts, highlight the history of the armed forces in Texas, with a special focus on San Antonio. On 7 acres, the U.S. Army Medical Department Museum, 2310 Stanley Rd., Building 1046 ( www.history.army.mil/museums/fieldMuseums/ameddmuseum/index.html ; tel. 210/221-6358 or 210/221-0015; free admission; Mon–Sat 10am–4pm), displays army medical equipment and American prisoner-of-war memorabilia. The main building is a restored hospital train car. • Gift Chapel. So named because it was built with donated funds, the chapel was constructed in 1907.
• Fort Sam Houston Museum. Here visitors learn everything about the Army's 9 the oldest installation, from its imprisonment of Apache chief Geronimo to the birth of military aviation here in 1910. Exhibits chronicle 10 major periods of development from the 1840s through the present day, including the events, uniforms, weapons and equipment of each era.

• Pershing House. This residence once housed General John J. Pershing, the only soldier to attain the rank "General of the Armies," and commander of the American expeditionary forces during World War I. Today, the Pershing House is the home of the post's senior Army officer.
• Fort Sam Houston Cemetery. Memorial pathways dedicated to the nation's veterans lead visitors through 154.7 acres where over 100,000 Army veterans are buried.

About this event.

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,000 local people and organisations, and thousands of volunteers. Every year in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.

Join one of our special tours of some of the behind-the-scenes places at Fort Nelson not normally open to the general public.

This year we are offering a special opportunity to visit the stores followed by a guided tour of the Artillery Hall.

Tours last 60 minutes (30 minutes in the stores and a 30-minute tour of the Artillery Hall).

Capacity is limited to 20 people per tour, split into two groups of 10.

Tours must be booked in advance.

Dates: Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September 2024

Tour times: 11 am, 1pm and 3 pm

Proof of ID required: To gain admission to the museum's stores you must complete a registration form and provide photographic ID (passport or driving licence). Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of your tour to in order to complete the paperwork.

Suitable for ages 14+. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Bags are not permitted in the stores. Visitors will need to leave their belongings in a designated area.

Howie Mandel, Marlon Wayans bringing laughs to Fort Myers

Get ready to laugh, Southwest Florida: Comedians Marlon Wayans and Howie Mandel are bringing their stand-up shows to Fort Myers.

B.B. Mann Hall announced both shows Monday morning. Tickets go on sale later this week.

Movie and TV star Wayans performs at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. Tickets are $42-$92.

He'll be followed by actor and TV personality Mandel, who performs at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. Tickets are $35-$70.

Wayans' movies have grossed more than $736 million at the box office in the United States and $1 billion worldwide, according to a B.B. Mann Hall news release. He's an actor, producer, comedian, writer and film director.

Wayans starred for two seasons on the NBC family sitcom “Marlon." His hit movies include "White Chicks," "Little Man" and "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood."

Mandel is best known as a judge for 11 seasons on the TV competition "America's Got Talent." He previously played ER resident Wayne Fiscus on the NBC medical drama "St. Elsewhere" and voiced the adorable character Gizmo in the hit comedy-horror movies "Gremlins" and "Gremlins 2: The New Batch."

He's also hosted the TV game show "Deal Or No Deal" and Nat Geo Wild’s ​"Howie Mandel's Animals Doing Things" (co-hosting with his son Alex).

Tickets for both shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28. Prices are subject to change and exclude applicable taxes and fees.

Pre-sale tickets for most Mann Hall events are available to the venue’s Email Club members one to three days before the general sale.
