  • Depeche Mode

Aussie Depeche Mode fans are an incredibly patient bunch. The last time the British synth-pop titans toured the country was in 1994, meaning nearly three decades have passed since they last paid us a visit. But good things come to those who wait, and it seems there is a glimmer of hope for those hoping to catch the band Down Under.

  • READ MORE: Depeche Mode: every single album ranked and rated

In March 2023, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan told an Italian blog that the band were eyeing “as-yet-unannounced dates in Asia and Australia” as part of a touring run that would lead into 2024. The band have toured the world in support of their latest album, ‘Memento Mori’ , and a trip to Australia to cap off the jaunt seems more likely than ever.

Adele Says Her Most Intimidating Concert Was At Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, Which Is Um… Unexpected

Adele

Saskia Morrison-Thiagu

The ‘Hello’ singer confessed the tidbit as part of Vogue’s 73 questions series. You know those videos that are supposed to be candid but often feel extraordinarily planned and stiff?? Yeah, those.

In the video, Adele was asked: “Which venue was the most intimidating or terrifying to perform in?”

“I would say, the ANZ stadium in Sydney. It was sitting something like 100,000,” Adele replied.

@sweetlittlefreak2010 #greenscreenvideo Not Adele finding my concert in Sydney the most intimidating on Vogue’s 73 Questions 🥺. #loveher #adele #sydney #vogue #73questions ♬ Easy On Me – Adele

For context: throughout her career Adele has performed at a multitude of venues like, Maddison Square Garden, Wembley Stadium, Greek Theatre and festivals like Glastonbury, plus award shows like The Grammys.

Now, for me personally I’d find ANZ stadium much less daunting than The Grammys… but hey, each to their own.

But fun fact: That 2017 concert actually broke records for being the most attended event since the Sydney Olympics… so go off, sis.

Also, imagine being at a stadium with 99,000 other people? My COVID mush brain literally cannot comprehend. On one hand, I can’t wait to be smushed amongst hundreds of sweaty strangers just for the pure novelty. But on the other, gross.

Can you believe it’s been six years since Adele’s last album, titled 25??? Now, at age 33, she’s given us the ultimate divorce album and I’m honestly obsessed.

Her albums are are famously named after the age in which she records them—e.g. 19 and 25. While she’s 33-years-old now, her third studio album has been in the making for a long time.

The anticipation was so hyped, that earlier this month hints started dropping all around the world that an album was coming. Funnily enough, one of those places was in Sydney’s Circular Quay on Alfred street.

Adele Sydney concert: Brit superstar has Sydneysiders wowed after epic performance

SYDNEY delivered Adele two Olympic sized crowds as almost 200,000 adoring fans packed ANZ Stadium over two nights.

Don't miss out on the headlines from NSW. Followed categories will be added to My News.

  • Adele and Justin Bieber to attract 250,000 fans at ANZ Stadium

Last night’s show, her second in two nights at ANZ Stadium, is possibly the biggest the British superstar has performed for, with speculation close to 100,000 fans sang, cheered, laughed and cried with the Rolling In The Deep singer. A total of 95,544 packed into the stadium on Friday night.

The emotion of the two performances, including Adele stopping during a song on Friday night to make sure a woman could be helped by paramedics, was evident as she appeared to tear-up as she left the stage at the end of her show last night to the cheers of her legions of fans.

She had earlier dedicated a song to the fan who is believed to have suffered from a cardiac issue at the previous night’s concert.

“I’d like to sing this song for her tonight,” she said, before launching into her ballad Take It All.

“We don’t know if she’s OK yet, we’re trying to find out.”

A record 95,000 packed into ANZ Stadium last night to see the superstar.

Sydney makes singer Adele its Queen at her concert at ANZ Stadium

Fortunately, last night’s performance went off without a hitch with the star hitting a lighter note by urging the whole crowd to sing happy birthday to one fan who was celebrating her 50th birthday at the concert.

Penrith woman Debbie Leishman took to Facebook this morning to share her happy moment.

“What a thrill, most amazing 50th birthday present ever. Thank you to the wonderful people who joined in,” she posted.

“Bigger than the Olympics”.

Adele also showed why she’s captured the hearts of millions of fans worldwide — from 50-year-olds to five-year-olds, sweetly accepting a present from a young fan who presented her with a Smiggle gift card on stage. It was for her son.

Thank you for the best night. Hope you love your gift and flag. WE LOVE YOU @Adele ❤ @Htsbbb @theonewithelly pic.twitter.com/bgrYky4RJV — Traci (@DaydreamerTMZJ) September 20, 2016

She was in trademark form from the moment she said “Hello”, keeping the packed stadium in the palm of her hand with down-to-earth wit, wisdom and, of course, supreme talent.

“Everyone ready for a good time?” she asked, with the audience responding with a loud cheer. Then joked: “Tough shit, my songs are all sad!”

In a touching show, Adele even got the entire crowd to sing Happy Birthday to one fan.

Adele also admitted that she swears she’s nervous, dropping the F-bomb and apologising with a cheeky grin as she talked about the inspiration behind her songs.

‘Bigger than the Olympics’: Adele arrives at Olympic Park for first gig of double-header

Crowds didn’t let a little traffic chaos get in the way of seeing Adele , either. Packed trains to the stadium caused significant delays as thousands headed towards ANZ Stadium.

On Friday night, an electrical fault also caused a signal failure at Olympic Park Stadium. Commuters faced delays of up to 20 minutes.

Adele will head to Adelaide next week before finishing up her tour with two dates in Melbourme.

Adele takes a dig at Channel 7 and sticks up for Justin Bieber during first Sydney concert

WITH a massive sold-out crowd of more than 90,000 in attendance, Adele’s first-ever Sydney concert was never going to be an intimate affair — and yet, the insanely popular singer-songwriter managed to make it feel like she was singing in your living room.

Adele, traditionally wary of playing arenas let alone stadiums, embraced the oversized setting, delivering a show that managed to juggle songwriting intimacy with showy bombast.

“I started doing bars, then theatres, then they convinced me to do arenas ... Stadiums were just bewildering but I had to come, because I’m so blessed that so many of you wanted to see me,” she told the adoring crowd.

Adele: Bar room banter and stately ballads. Picture: Getty

The singer’s debut Australian tour has been a mammoth affair, with intense media interest, and she had a sly dig at Channel 7 during the show, noting that she was forced to do her soundcheck under the stage because of “keen” hovering Seven News helicopters.

The songs were gold-plated throughout, from stunning early hits Hometown Glory and Chasing Pavements to her latest single, the brilliant pop of Water Under The Bridge .

But as great as the hits are, 90,000 people were also here to spend an evening with one of the funniest, most charismatic people in the music business: A woman who could start a career in stand-up tomorrow if she got sick of singing.

“I don’t look like this in real life — there’s a lot of makeup, a lot of contour and a lot of contrast to get me look like this,” she told the crowd, explaining that the Australian climate had forced her to add industrial fans to her stage.

A massive crowd for Adele’s first Sydney show. Picture: Getty

“I’d go on stage and after three songs my face would be down on my dress,” she cackled.

During another of her frequent between-show chats, she introduced the country-soul of Don’t You Remember with a warning: “Beware, there is a key change — and sometimes, I burp.”

She even got feisty with the crowd, chiding them when her question about whether any of those in attendance were also going to Justin Bieber’s tour was met with boos.

“He’s only a kid, f**king hell. I can’t say you’d do much better if you were famous at 12 years old, shut up. I don’t know him, I just feel bad for him most of the time, because everyone boos him.”

Yes, some parts of Adele’s show were cheesy — she broke up two similarly lovelorn ballads by repeatedly firing a T-shirt cannon into the crowd. The ubiquitous pre-show Mexican wave and kiss-cam added to the sports ground feel.

It’d be hard for any Adele fan present to deny how great it would’ve been to see her five, seven, 10 years ago, when she would’ve been playing those intimate pubs and theatres she reminisced about on stage tonight. But she’s the biggest star in the world with the songs to match — and she’s absolutely owning the spotlight.

Info: Adele has the following dates still to go on her Australian / New Zealand tour. Limited tickets available from livenation.com.au

ANZ Stadium, Sydney — March 11

Adelaide Oval, Adelaide — March 13

Etihad Stadium, Melbourne — March 18, March 19

Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland — March 23, March 25, March 26.

Taylor Swift has been filmed stopping mid-song during her Eras Tour to help a distressed fan get immediate help.

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion broke down in tears at her latest concert, after calling out a “fake a**” explicit video circulating on social media.

A gang of big celebs – including a couple of Aussie A-listers – managed to party near-unnoticed in the crowd at Coldplay’s latest concert.

The venue in which Adele will perform will be created exclusively for her residency – the singer said in her statement it’ll be ‘a one-off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on’. Who knows what that will look like, but it’s pretty much guaranteed that the pop icon will put on a belter of a show. Prepare to sob through the ballads and laugh along with her trademark banter.

Where is Adele doing her residency?

Adele will be taking up a ten-night residency in Munich this summer, but until then she’ll continue with her Las Vegas residency.  ‘Weekends with Adele’ had  a wildly successful premiere in November 2022, and late last year it was announced that the singer’s Vegas residency will run until the summer at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace, with the final show scheduled for June 15, 2024.

Is a world tour on the cards?

Other than her current Las Vegas residency and upcoming Munich shows, Adele has no further tour dates scheduled. The ‘Easy On Me’ singer said in her statement that she ‘hadn’t had any other plans’ and that playing in Munich is ‘a bit random, but still fabulous’. It doesn’t sound like she’ll be heading out on a world tour anytime soon, but never say never.

Adele Hits Back at Audience Member Who Says 'Pride Sucks': 'Don't Be So F---ing Ridiculous'

“If you've got nothing nice to say, shut up. All right?” the singer said during her June 1 show

adele sydney tour 2024

Adele has no time for hate.

During a show part of her Las Vegas residency on Saturday, June 1, which marked the first day of Pride Month , the singer-songwriter, 36, took a moment to call out an audience member who made a negative comment about the celebration dedicated to LGBTQ+ community members and their rights .

Though the heckler’s comment was not caught on-camera, Adele said in a fan-captured clip that she heard them say, "Pride sucks."

“Did you come to my f---ing show and just say that Pride sucks? Are you f---ing stupid?” the "Hello" singer asked the audience member.

Adele was then met with cheers from the crowd at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

“Don’t be so f---ing ridiculous,” she added. “If you’ve got nothing nice to say, shut up. All right?”

The Grammy winner has never been afraid to express her opinion — and showcase her signature wit — at her Weekends with Adele shows.

Last month, after a break from performing due to a vocal rest , the singer raved about Sabrina Carpenter’s hit track “Espresso" in between songs.

Kevin Mazur/Getty

Adele spoke about how switching back to Las Vegas' time zone after her break has impacted her body, telling the audience, "I nearly pissed myself because my whole body clock was out of sync.”

"So being on stage at 11:30, I was desperate for a pee,” she told the crowd. “But I'm always, you know, [going] back to the hotel, in the hotel, whatever, by, sort of like, 11:10 at the latest. And then I have to warm my voice down, then I have a steam shower and things like that."

Then, referring to Carpenter’s chart-topping track, she continued, "As I got into bed last night — 'cause that's a very late night for me, normally I'm in bed by 9 p.m. — I found myself singing, 'I'm working late, 'cause I'm a singer.’ ”

Added Adele: "That Sabrina Carpenter song! 'I can't relate to desperation.' That song is my jam!"

This weekend's show of support for the LGBTQ+ community wasn't the first time that Adele has spoken out against unruly audience members.

In July 2023, the star spoke out about concert etiquette , calling out individuals who had been "forgetting" how to behave after stars including Bebe Rexha, Kelsea Ballerini and Billie Eilish  were hit by flying objects on stage.

In fan-captured footage , Adele said, “Have you noticed how people are forgetting f---ing show etiquette at the moment? People are throwing s--- on stage. Have you seen that?"

“I f---ing dare you — I dare you throw something at me," the musician, who was holding a T-shirt cannon, joked, adding, "I’ll f---ing kill you.”

Il tabarro Music by Giacomo Puccini Libretto by Giuseppe Adami

Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi Music by Giacomo Puccini Libretto by Giovacchino Forzano

Desperation. Despair. Deception.

Il Trittico is an operatic treat: a rare chance to see three one-act operas performed together. Here is a brilliant composer reaching for greatness. Always seeking human stories, Puccini wanted to explore contrast, pouring his talent into the gritty melodrama of Il tabarro , the intimate tragedy of Suor Angelica and the surprising satire of Gianni Schicchi.

The audience is the winner, with a triple helping of Puccini’s sumptuous orchestral writing, famous arias (‘O mio babbino caro’ is so famous you know it even if you think you don’t) and the witty, tight ensemble singing of the best comedies.

With each opera presenting its own significant demands, Puccini’s triptych is rarely performed together. This is your chance to revel in everything opera has to offer, all at once.

See a new generation of Australian creative talent take their turn at Puccini: three outstanding directors with stories to tell. Constantine Costi, Imara Savage and Shaun Rennie are all making names for themselves in the Sydney opera and theatre scene. Thrilling young conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya makes her Sydney Opera House debut.

You’ll see a feast of Australian operatic talent, including Opera Australia regulars and singers returning home from successful seasons overseas. Soprano Lauren Fagan makes her Opera Australia debut singing the title role in Suor Angelica . Simon Meadows plays the conniving Gianni Schicchi, along with Il tabarro’s Michele. And Stacey Alleaume appears across all three operas and sings the timeless ‘O mio babbino caro’ as Lauretta.

Gianni Schicchi

A thrilling drama set on a barge in Paris, where a miserable marriage ends in murder. Filled with secrets, escalating tensions, desire, and betrayal.

Suor Angelica

Suor Angelica

A tale of a woman forced into a convent. An emotional journey where she confronts her troubled past and experiences a poignant moment of redemption and sacrifice. It is renowned for its heart-wrenching music of cinematic intensity.

Il Tabarro

Gianni Schicchi

Sparkling music meets controlled comedic chaos: a rollicking opera about greed, cunning and youth. With hidden identities, a contested will and one of opera’s most famous pieces of music, this is a clever, consistently funny hour of opera with unexpected twists.

Rolling stone writer says taylor swift is the 'better adele' after new album, rolling stone writer catches backlash ... says taylor is the 'better adele'.

Adele fans are voicing their frustration with Rolling Stone after a writer for their German edition claimed Taylor Swift is the better artist between the two.

As Taylor's new album, "The Tortured Poets Department," hit shelves and streaming services Friday, writer Ralf Niemczyk penned a review for Rolling Stone Germany -- with a headline that read, "Taylor Swift: 'The Tortured Poets Department' - the better Adele."

You can read the review for yourself to understand his larger point -- but the gist is ... he believes Taylor's new project, all about heartbreak, is on the level with Adele's work.

He writes, "In their mega stew of all modern pop ingredients, the quality of the songwriting continues to beat the material of their colleagues from the R&B Champions League, like Adele." This is translated from German, BTW ... but his argument is crystal clear.

Unsurprisingly, this has left fans of the British songstress thoroughly pissed ... who called out the random comparison between Taylor and Adele -- as the 2 singers have totally different sounds, voices and themes ... even if "lost love" is a vague shared connection they have.

Most fans have accused RS of doing Adele dirty by putting her in a juxtaposition with TS,  highlighting how the Brit's vocals are far superior to Taylor's. One fan wrote on X ... "they have the audacity to say that she’s the 'better adele' but she in fact cannot do this."

Another fan called out how the Rolling Stone writer was pitting the female artists against each other ... when they've never had beef before.

Remember, Taylor and Adele's social circles overlap ... since both hitmakers are pals with Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence .

‘THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT’ by Taylor Swift is set to become just the second album by a female artist in history to open with over 2 million units in its first week in the US. It would join Adele’s ‘25,’ which debuted with 3.48 million units in 2015. pic.twitter.com/9I5TZOQSbD — Pop Crave (@PopCrave) April 19, 2024 @PopCrave

Worth noting ... the motive for the Rolling Stone comment may have something to do with the projected sales for 'TTPD.' Taylor's new album is predicted to sell 2 million units in the U.S. ... something she's never done before in her career.

Do You Think Taylor Swift's Better Than Adele?

Adele famously sold over 3 million units in a week after the release of her album, "25." But it doesn't seem Taylor will be beating this record ... further proving the "better Adele" comment was kinda unwarranted.

With that said, we suppose we'll pose the question ... is Taylor, in fact, "better" than Adele???

G-flip teases second wedding ceremony, baby plans with ‘most beautiful princess’ chrishell stause.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

It sounds like wedding bells are ringing again for Chrishell Stause and her partner, G-Flip.

The “Drummer” artist, 30, — who uses they/them pronouns — made their Governor’s Ball debut on Sunday where they caught up with Page Six and exclusively teased their plans for a second wedding with the “Selling Sunset” star, whom they first wed in May 2023 , and potential baby plans for the future.

After celebrating one full year together, G-Flip called their first year of marriage “amazing.”

G-Flip and chrishell Stause selfie

“Chrishell is the greatest, most beautiful princess human being that has ever graced the planet,” they gushed. “She’s just so fun and easygoing and makes my life so much better having her in my life. It’s been absolutely fun.”

In June 2023, the couple revealed they planned to celebrate their love by hosting a wedding every year . In keeping with those plans, G-Flip teased they’re already planning their “cheeky” second ceremony in Australia this summer.

“My family’s in Australia, she’s got family in Saint Louis — everyone’s all over the place. Our friends are on tour and all over the place. So we like doing a little ceremony every year,” they continued. “That way we eventually can have everyone attend a wedding.

“I’m so excited for my Aussie family to be there,” they said.

The musician also tells Page Six they would “definitely” love to start expanding their family.

“Obviously being queer, there are a few more challenges,” the “Get Me Outta Here” hitmaker said, adding that they’re currently “working through” some of those issues.

“But it’s definitely on the cards. We would love to be parents and we’d be good parents,” they continued.

G-Flip and Stause have been vocal in the past about creating a family together.

The reality star realtor told her followers last year that she and G-Flip were looking to have children together last August as she shut down any fans’ hopes of her rekindling her romance with her boss, Jason Oppenheim.

“I met my forever partner with G and we are planning a family,” she wrote at the time. “Everything happened the way it was supposed to.”

ICYMI: J.Lo's cancelled tour, Thom Yorke is coming to Australia and what really went down on The Apprentice

J.Lo points to the crowd as she sings with wind blowing her hair back from her face, wearing a bedazzled sheer outfit.

It's that time again!

Here's what you may have missed in entertainment news over the weekend.

  • J.Lo cancelled her entire tour to 'spend time with family'???
  • An ex-Apprentice producer did a tell-all on his time working with Trump
  • Thom Yorke is coming to Australia and this is the Eras Tour for Radiohead fans
  • Steve Miller is very happy Eminem interpolated Abracadabra in Houdini
  • Adele had a go at an audience member she thought yelled "Pride sucks"

J.Lo says This Is Me…Never, cancels US arena tour

Jennifer Lopez is having a nightmare of a year. First, she was forced to spend $US20 million ($30 million) of her own cash to make her quasi-autobiographical film that critics rushed to call " bonkers " and a " bizzaro trainwreck ", then everyone made fun of her suspiciously vague bodega order (ham and cheese on a roll, orange drink — IYKYK — and a small bag of chips), and now she's had to go and cancel her entire US arena tour!

The This Is Me…Live tour was slated for 30 dates, hitting massive arenas all around the US — but now they are no more.

The first signs of struggle appeared in April, when seven dates were quietly cancelled amid reports of struggling ticket sales. The tour was also rebranded from "This Is Me… Now" to "This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits" in an apparent attempt to broaden its appeal.

But despite the reports of lacklustre sales, team J.Lo told fans the cancellation was due to the star wanting to slow down a little.

"Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends," representatives told fans in an official newsletter.

The statement also included a short message from Lopez herself.

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…" she said.

But Jenny from the Block isn't the only established artist struggling to fill arenas. Indie stalwarts The Black Keys announced last week that they were cancelling their September US arena tour, promising to reschedule dates for a more "intimate experience for both fans and the band".

And fans of Wallows the pop-rock trio — fronted by 13 Reasons Why actor Dylan Minnette — are stressing out on social media that their faves will be doomed to the same fate, citing lots of cheap tickets still for sale.

Even the powerhouse team-up of Troye Sivan and Charli XCX doesn't seem to be enough to convince American audiences to head down to the arena.

Former Apprentice producer dishes on time with Trump as NDA expires

Donald Trump was already a household name when he ran for US president in 2016, and the reality TV show The Apprentice had a lot to do with that.

The show — which sees people compete for the chance to get a one-year starting contract to promote one of Trump's properties — ran for 15 seasons from 2004, with the man himself hosting 14 of them.

But a former producer on "the show that changed everything" has written a tell-all essay about what really went down behind the scenes of the show, now that his 20-year non-disclosure agreement has expired .

In the essay, Bill Pruitt writes that The Apprentice "elevated Donald J. Trump from sleazy New York tabloid hustler to respectable household name". While he was shown to demonstrate "impeccable business instincts and unparalleled wealth" on the program, in reality Pruitt says Trump had "barely survived multiple bankruptcies", his ramblings were carefully edited and he made comments that were "misogynistic as well as racist", most of which were caught on camera but not aired.

"By carefully misleading viewers about Trump — his wealth, his stature, his character, and his intent — the competition reality show set about an American fraud that would balloon beyond its creators' wildest imaginations," Pruitt writes.

Pruitt says when deciding between two finalists – Kwame Jackson and Bill Rancic – Trump said in a recorded conversation: "I mean, would America buy a n***** winning?" in reference to Jackson. Rancic won that season of the competition.

ABC News has contacted Trump's team for a response and is yet to hear back, but a spokesman for Trump's 2024 campaign issued this statement to Slate, which was published in the essay: "This is a completely fabricated and bullshit story that was already peddled in 2016."

In an MSNBC interview with the Reverend Al Sharpton, Jackson says the comments are "water off a duck's back" given Trump didn't make them to his face, which he says would have played out very differently.

But Jackson goes on to say the comments would have potentially swung the election had they come out in 2016, and therefore Pruitt is "a day late and a dollar short".

He told Rev Sharpton: "Trump has made it OK to be racist in America."

Thom Yorke is coming to Australia for the first time in 12 years

A musician who needs little introduction, Thom Yorke is best known as the creative, angel-voiced force out front of Radiohead — one of the most culturally significant and critically acclaimed bands of their generation. But he's never done a solo tour to Australia before, until now.

Yorke has announced a solo Australian tour, playing two dates each at Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt through October and November. Find dates and ticket details here.

"I will be alone on stage trying a new kind of solo show thing, playing versions of songs from my recent and not so recent past," Yorke said in a statement.

It's his first show on our shores of any kind since Radiohead toured back in 2012.

This is welcome, if surprising, news for fans, given they were anticipating a visit from The Smile – Yorke's new band alongside Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, and drummer Tom Skinner.

What's in store? Expect Yorke to re-imagine material from Radiohead and The Smile, as well as his various solo and soundtrack projects — ranging from 2006 album The Eraser through to Confidenza, the score to the 2024 Italian drama of the same name.

Here's a possible taster: Yorke performing Radiohead track Bloom, the opening track from 2011's The King of Limbs, in solo piano mode.

Eminem's 'new' era gets kudos from a classic rock icon

Eminem has a new song out called 'Houdini', and there are a couple of striking things about it.

First, it's an unapologetic throwback to the rapper's big, early hits. It sounds like an updated version of his 2002 smart-arse anthem 'Without Me', and the video – which features guest spots from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Pete Davidson and Shane Gillis – also directly references that hit.

Second, its chorus is an interpolation of the Steve Miller Band's 1982 classic rock anthem 'Abracadabra'. And that song's writer couldn't be happier.

In a letter posted to Facebook over the weekend , Steve Miller gushed about Eminem's artistry and respect for those who came before him.

"You are one of those timeless originators building something new on a long musical legacy of original artists," Miller wrote.

"There aren't many artists who take the time or make the effort to stand up for themselves and credit and respect their influencers at the same time. Marshall Mathers you are an exception and on my short list of people who respect the art. To be included in your process feels good while I'm still singing and playing the music I love."

Without being too cynical, we reckon the esteemed Mr Miller might also be very much looking forward to his next royalty cheque.

Adele claps back at heckler, Katy Perry takes on Butker's speech

Adele caused a bit of a social media stir over the weekend.

On Saturday night, the first night of Pride Month in the US, an audience member at an Adele show in Las Vegas reportedly decided they needed to tell the singer their feelings about the longstanding celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride. It didn't go well.

In a fan-posted Instagram clip, Adele is seen barking back at an audience member who apparently yelled out "Pride sucks" while the singer was addressing the crowd at a show as part of her Las Vegas residency.

"Did you come to my f***ing show and just say 'Pride sucks'?" the singer snarls. "Are you f****ing stupid? Don't be so f***ing ridiculous. If you've got nothing nice to say, shut up, all right?"

Social media has applauded Adele's ferocious rebuke, with countless comments praising her allyship.

However, other videos and accounts from the night suggest the heckler actually yelled out "Work sucks", which seems a lot more on brand for an Adele audience and makes sense considering what Adele was talking about.

At least it's good to know she's willing to fight back against homophobia, even if this was a misunderstanding. And seeing Adele swear her head off is always entertaining.

In related news, fellow pop star Katy Perry celebrated the start of Pride Month by posting a doctored version of NFL player Harrison Butker's infamous commencement speech from last month.

"Fixed this for my girls, my graduates, and my gays," Perry wrote on Instagram. "You can do anything, congratulations and happy pride."

The edit of the video makes Butker's message pretty different to the divisive comments he offered around LGBTQIA+ movements and women in the workforce when addressing the Benedictine College graduating class.

"I would venture to guess the women here today are going to lead successful careers in the world," he now says.

"I say all of this to you because I have seen it firsthand: how much happier someone can be supporting women, and not saying that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."
