What they say about us

TripAdvisor®  Traveler Reviews:

Nigel S, Australia “A cut above the rest” tour! If you come to Prague this is a “must-do”. We were visiting from Australia and George guided us and another family group through the tour. This is about much more than food. This an experience to really understand the Czech culture and connection with eating, drinking and socialising. George is an intelligent guide in the way he shared the food and the city with us through easy conversation and seamless logistics (one of our daughter’s has a gluten and dairy allergy which isn’t easy in Prague and yet George just sorted it out). The food and chosen venues were top quality and the cocktails at the end – just when you thought you could not possibly manage another thing – finished things perfectly. A passionate bartender who takes his craft so seriously and it shows through in the drinks he served. Really cannot speak highly enough of this – it is truly a cut above any other tour I have ever booked.

Anna M Fun food tour George George was funny kind and entertaining during our tour. He shared with us many amazing facts about the culture of Prague and the Czech Republic. Even though we were a large group of many kids, George made it his mission to make the experience fun for all ages.

Baseballdad, NYC Walking Food tour with Leona Leona was fantastic . It was the most memorable thing we did in Prague. Her knowledge of current and historic Prague and the Czech Republic was top notch. What we really appreciated was how she took the time to get to know us individually and help us with things we were interested in. Also, she took time at the end of the tour to help us plan the rest of our time in Prague. The places we visited were steeped in tradition and history in addition to being very good food and drink. You don’t get the basic food experience – you get the real flavor if the Czech people. If you only take 1 walking tour this should be it.

Experience the authenticity

We want our guests to experience authentic food that represents our culture at independent, locally owned memorable spots where food is thoroughly prepared and beverages are served with love. We want to show you that we love to eat more than just dumplings.

On our tours we take the guests to our own personal favourite places with the best quality of food and the hot spots with a special atmosphere. Along the way we take you for a walk off the beaten track, through tiny streets and secluded places. As your local guides we will definitely give you a lot of tips on the best hidden foodie highlights so you can enjoy your Prague food experience also after the tour.

We pace the food and drink servings so you can enjoy the walk, admire the city´s beauties and eat at the same time.

Our  Scrumptious Food Tour  takes place out of the busy city centre. The walk is about 2.5 km/1.8 miles long. Our aim is to show you also different facet of Prague and get you to the places where people live and love to eat.

I did this my first day in Prague. We did this food tour our first day in Prague to get to know the cuisine. Vladimir was our guide and he was fantastic! Not only did we get to taste some amazing food, but Vladimir also told us the history or Prague, different recommendations of what sites to visit, and what other treats to try later on in our trip. - Jenn L (TripAdvisor Review)

The 5 Best Prague Food Tours [2024 Reviews]

I first visited Prague around 5 years ago, and to be honest, I had absolutely no expectations at all. However, what I found was a city rich with timeless pubs, sleek bistros, traditional dishes, modern masterpieces, and everything in between.

If you really want to get to know Prague like a local and understand the culture in a deeper way, you have to try the cuisine. If there’s one activity you should participate in this impressive city, it’s a food tour.

Based on my own experience, I’ve crafted a guide featuring carefully selected, best Prague food tours currently out there. Let’s get started!

Best Food Tours in Prague

Quick answer: the 5 best rated prague food tours for 2024.

  • Prague Foodie Tour
  • Prague Food Tour With Eating Europe
  • SMALL GROUP / PRIVATE Prague Old Town Traditional Czech Food Tour
  • Secret Food Tours Prague Mala Strana w/ Private Tour Option
  • Delicious Food Tour by Prague Food Tour

Best Prague Food Tour Reviews

1. prague foodie tour.

  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Departure:  Haštalská 1077/16, Staré Město, 110 00 Praha-Praha
  • Departure Time: 12:00 and 4:00 PM
  • Includes: Alcoholic beverages, lunch, dinner, all fees and taxes, coffee and/or tea, soda, bottled water

I don’t know if I’ve ever had as much fun on a food tour as I did on this first one. The Prague Foodie Tour  is a no-frills, educational experience where you’ll follow your expert guide’s knowledge to see some of the city’s most valuable hidden gems.

Skip the tourist traps and traverse cobblestone streets and subway depths to try some of Prague’s most authentic dishes!

I’ll admit, that before this tour, I had no idea that Prague has such an amazing culinary scene filled with dishes I’d never even heard of before. This one was a treasure trove of insider knowledge about the city’s history as well as the food and drinks that make up a huge part of its culture.

Start out by meeting up with your guide and the rest of your small group, where you’ll head straight to the Karlin district (reminiscent of hipster Bushwick, Brooklyn).

In total, you’ll visit 5 different locations to learn about and try traditional Czech dishes, beer, cocktails, and plenty of wine! I loved the way our guide wove the history of the city into our food experiences, – many of the dishes date back to the time of Napoleonic wars or earlier!

Expand To See More See Less

Of course, many of the dishes’ interpretations have changed with the times, but many of them were very authentic. I really loved how between the food stops, we got to make various stops at important landmarks, complete with an educational narration by our guide.

We went by foot, tram, and Metro to the different places, which also made me feel more confident using these modes of transportation for the rest of our stay.

The stop at a lovely wine bar was a great way to chat with the guide and other participants, and I can’t wait to do this tour again.

Tour Information & Booking

  • Departure: Dvořákovo nábřeží Kotviště číslo 19, 110 00 Praha 1
  • Departure Time: 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM
  • Includes:  9 delicious tastings at 5 different locations, Svíčková (Czech National Dish), Wine and beer and much more!, The best food tour in Prague, Prague – A food lover’s guide, Local English speaking guide

Whether you’re a foodie, an art aficionado, history buff, or simply curious about Prague, check this next tour out. It covers the arts, architecture, science, history, and of course, the amazing local cuisine!

The Prague Food Tour with Eating Europe is one of the most supremely organized tours I’ve had the pleasure of participating in, and will surely change your perspective on this beautiful city!

This 4-hour tour will start out on a floating brewery right on the gorgeous river where you’ll get to sip on some Pilsners and enjoy the breathtaking views of the natural landscape and impressive architecture.

I found this to be a great way to get to get to know our guide while also learning about some of Prague’s history (and more specifically, beer history!). After, head through the old backstreets to the Gourmet Passage, where you’ll find one of the tastiest delis around.

The Czech dumplings and braised beef are something I crave all the time, and I’d likely go back to Prague just for that.

While strolling between the different stops, we also got to see famous landmarks like the Printing House and even enjoy meals in the same place as Franz Kafka and Albert Einstein once did!

Pass the main city square, where the guide regales you with a comprehensive yet fascinating history lesson on some of the major events that have happened here.

I know I have a sweet tooth so I may be biased, but the stop at the Cafe Platyz was my favorite! We got to try Custard and Apple Strudel, which was seriously one of the tastiest desserts I’ve ever had.

The typical pastry in Prague is the chimney cake, so if you haven’t given that a go, make sure to try it as well.

3. SMALL GROUP / PRIVATE Prague Old Town Traditional Czech Food Tour

  • Departure:  Náměstí Republiky 3/4, 110 00 Praha 1-Nové Město
  • Departure Time:  1:00, 4:00 and 5:00 PM
  • Includes:  8 food tastings of traditional Czech cuisine (all portions equal a full large meal), 4 beverage tastings (beer, soft drinks), Map with personalized food recommendations, Public transport tickets if needed, English-speaking local guide

While the other two tours we’ve covered so far are certainly a lot of fun, private food tours are also quite nice. The Small Group / Private Prague Old Town Traditional Czech Food Tour  is wonderful if you’d like it to just be you and your party participating in the experience.

I loved the fact that our guide asked us for our specific interests and preferences to design a foodie tour customized around them!

Traditional Czech cuisine isn’t known to be light and fresh, but rather cozy and hearty – and washed down with a delicious beer!

Upon meeting up with your guide, you and the other members of your party will be given maps filled with interesting landmarks to check out, as well as more food recommendations to explore after the tour!

Our guide was a local and knew probably every single eatery in town, so you can trust that these recommendations are grade-A.

Meet up with them at the Art Deco-style Municipal House, which holds the famous Smetana Concert Hall and plenty of delicious restaurants and wine bars inside (oh, and the country’s Declaration of Independence!).

After enjoying some traditional dishes and wine, you’ll take a walk on over to your next stop while seeing and learning about the stunning Prasna Brana Tower and Church of Our Lady Before Tyn.

Cross the Charles Bridge and enjoy the breathtaking views before arriving to eat at the oldest Prague neighborhood of Lesser Town.

What I loved about this tour, is that it felt like we had an old friend who was taking us around to the most noteworthy spots around Prague – not some tourist traps. Each location actually served us up the equivalent of a big meal, along with tastings of beer.

I couldn’t believe the value received, and if you’re looking for something fun to do, I just can’t recommend this tour enough.

4. Secret Food Tours Prague Mala Strana w/ Private Tour Option

  • Duration:  3.5 hours
  • Departure:  Malostranské nám., 118 00 Praha 1-Malá Strana
  • Departure Time: 11:00 AM
  • Includes:  Párek v rohlíku (Czech hot dog), traditional bohemian soup, special pancakes, homemade sauerkraut, Knedlo-vepro-zelo (dumplings-pork-cabbage), traditional cakes, Secret Dish

Next up is a slightly shorter tour, which takes you off the beaten path and into the heart of Prague’s dramatic culinary history. These hidden gems are where locals have indulged for years, with some of the eateries dating back hundreds of years!

If you’re looking to enjoy all kinds of traditional dishes from savory soups to fluffy pancakes and beer, the Secret Food Tours Prague Mala Strana w/ Private Tour Option is for you!

If you have specific dietary restrictions or needs, I understand that not every food tour out there can accommodate them. However, this tour does a great job of being aware of every participant’s needs while still giving you the opportunity to try delicious Czech culinary spots.

It perfectly melds history lessons, gorgeous architecture and landscapes, and applies them in a way that makes it relevant to the food and drinks you’re trying.

The Lesser Town or ‘Mala Strana’ sits right at the base of the majestic Prague Castle, overlooking the bridge and river down below. As you walk through the oldest district with your guide, you’ll get to learn about and see iconic sites like the impressive St. Nicholas Church.

Pass Kampa Park, which is one of the most well-respected dining establishments, and walk by the John Lennon Wall, which is filled with Beatles-related art.

This tour is a bit different from the others, as it starts out in the morning so instead of some of the more dinner-appropriate options, you’ll get to try breakfast  and  lunch!

I loved the opportunity to get to try both sweet and savory delights local to Prague, and follow it up with a trip to the local pub! The guide was friendly, knew just about everything related to Czech food, and gave us an experience we already want to repeat.

5. Delicious Food Tour by Prague Food Tour

  • Duration: 4.5 hours
  • Departure:  V Celnici 2079/7, 110 00 Praha 1-Nové Město
  • Departure Time: 3:00 PM
  • Includes:  Dinner, Coffee and/or Tea, Alcoholic Beverages, Soda/Pop, Bottled water, lunch, All Fees and Taxes

I can’t leave off the Delicious Food Tour by Prague Food Tour experience, which is an afternoon experience perfect if it’s your first time in the city. You’ll not only get a lay of the land, but get to sample authentic dishes and drinks that will surely enrich your time here.

With a maximum of just 9 participants, this small-group tour allows for you to ask your guide any questions you may have and have a more personalized experience.

Start off by meeting up with your guide and the rest of your group at 3:00 pm at the Hilton Old Town, where they’ll give a briefing of what you can expect throughout the tour.

This is yet another one that skips the tourist traps and leads you to some of the cool holes-in-the-wall and more “underground” spots alive with old Czech spirit and culture. This tour was one of the ones that solidified how much I love Prague.

As you could probably imagine, your tour starts off in Old Town, where you’ll learn about Czech history and how the traditional dishes came to be.

It’s a fabulous introduction to the Czech Republic in a non-intimidating, friendly setting that I’d recommend to anyone new here. In fact, I’d even say that it’s the best Prague food tour for entire families as it focuses more on the dishes rather than the pubs.

While it may vary, you can expect to try dishes like the Kulajda dill soup with poached egg, Prague Smoked Ham with whipped cream and horseradish, Marinated Cheese, Choux Custard pastries, coconut meringue with walnut cream, and much more.

Oh, and you’ll get to try (if you’re of legal age), 3 expertly-crafted cocktails based around traditional Czech ingredients and spirits.

Best Time of Year to Visit Prague

By far, the best time to visit Prague is either late spring or early fall. The city isn’t too hot nor too cold, and it still isn’t the peak season so you’ll avoid the vast majority of tourists.

The summertime is also very pleasant in terms of weather conditions, but there are a ton of crowds – for example, Charles Bridge will be packed full of people most days.

1. Tipping – You can tip anywhere between 5 to 15% percent of your bill if you’re in a restaurant or taxi. 20% and above is not expected.

2. Don’t expect people to smile at you – It’s not that locals aren’t friendly – they’re actually some of the kindest people out there. However, local culture isn’t too much on warm, affectionate behavior if they don’t know you.

3. They don’t use the Euro – Rather, you’ll need to get some Czech Crowns/Korunas which are about 22 to 1 USD. Make sure to always keep some cash on you as some places don’t accept cards.

4. Wear comfortable walking shoe s – While Prague has a solid public transportation system, it’s very walkable, and you’ll likely put in a lot of steps.

We selected Malá Strana as our tour location because it is one of the greenest and most historically interesting part of our city. Originally founded as "New Town" in the 13th century, it was created as a royal town and the King invited expelled German craftsmen and merchants to settle here. During its turbulent history this area was destroyed by Hussites in 1419, and burned to the ground again in the 16th century. What we have today is a city rebuilt from the ashes in the Renaissance style with some of the most stunning Baroque architecture in the world. This historic district set against the Vltava River is filled with hidden churches, palaces, narrow streets, and beautiful parks. Czech culture was literally created here, famous writers and composers lived in this district and used the area for inspiration to create masterworks that have stood the test of time.

what to eat in prague

Let’s not beat around the bush here, the city doesn’t have the best reputation when it comes to food in Prague.

Everyone thinks of big stews with dumplings. Meat meat and more meat. Oh, and lots of beer thrown in there for good measure. Like, lots of beer.

Yes, the food is like that, but it’s really delicious too. Hearty and warming, perfect for visiting Prague in winter .

Obviously I’m firmly flying the flag but I actually really like the food in Prague. I could eat goulash all day long.

That’s why I wanted to put together this little guide on what to eat in Prague. Trust me, you’re in for a treat when visiting here!

What to eat in Prague

1. trdelník (chimney cake).

trdelník prague

Trdelník actually originates from Transylvania in Romania , but this traditional pastry can be found on every street corner in Prague. Honestly, I actually think it was on every street corner and it’s no surprise that this a firm favourite among locals and tourists alike.

Trdelník can be made as a sweet and a savory pastry. It is prepared by wrapping some dough around a stick and then heating the stick over a flame until it the pastry becomes golden brown. The next step is to roll it in cinnamon sugar, brush it with a bit of butter, and spread different fillings inside. I have to admit that watching trdelník being prepared is weirdly mesmerising.

It is sold by numerous street vendors throughout the city and you can also find it in a number of bars and cafes. Usual price is around 60 CZK (€2).

2. Chlebíčky (an open-faced sandwich)

Chlebíčky prague

There are so many nice things to eat in Prague and chlebíčky is definitely one of them.

This open-faced sandwich is usually eaten for breakfast or lunch, and locals like to serve it during celebrations and other social gatherings. You will find this baguette-like bread with different toppings like cucumber, egg, salami, and ham at many deli shops across the city.

However, my favorite place where they serve chlebíčky is the Zlaty kriz deli , a local old-school deli packed with locals. There is also the Sisters bistro where you can try a different Scandinavian-influenced version of this sandwich.

lokal prague

It’s always easy to find a nice place where to eat in Prague, especially if you are in the mood for a big bowl of goulash!

There are many versions of goulash in this part of Europe and the dish itself probably originates from Hungary, but the Czech-style goulash is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Unlike the Hungarian version of Goulash where you have to eat it with a spoon because of its soupy texture, here in Prague they make it thicker, put fewer vegetable, and serve the dish with dumplings.

Keep in mind that goulash can be spicy because of all the dry paprika. There are many restaurants that offer bowls of this heavenly dish, but my favorite ones are Mlejnice and Mincovna restaurant. This is one of those traditional Czech food you just have to try in Prague.

4. Grilované klobásy (grilled sausage)

sausage prague

No Prague food guide would be complete without mentioning the fabulous grilované klobásy. It’s basically grilled sausages which are placed inside a roll and served with a bunch of different sauces.

Expect to find dozens of food stalls and beer gardens across the city selling these tasty sausages. Of course, there are a couple of varieties of grilované klobásy, but in most cases they include mustard and bread. They go perfectly together with a glass of a cold Pilsner beer (trust me on that one!)

5. Palačinky (Czech pancakes)

pancake prague

Let me introduce you to palačinky, thin Czech pancakes similar to the French crepes.

They are usually served as a sweet dessert and topped with a variety of fillings like jam, ice cream, nuts, sweet cheese, whipped cream, and fruits. There is also the savory version of these pancakes which includes toppings such as spinach, meat, or cheese.

Many cafes in Prague serve them, as well as numerous food carts in the Old Town Square. The locals here will probably tell you that the presentation of palačinky is very important and that they should be rolled up in the shape of cigars!

6. Svíčková (braised beef) with dumplings

Svíčková

Svíčková is probably one of the most famous dishes in Prague. No visit to the city is complete without trying this beef eye fillet which is cooked in a mix of vegetables. However, this dish is kind of difficult to make and it takes a couple of hours to prepare it.

Svíčková is made of thin slices of beef seasoned with a sweet sauce which is prepared from parsnips and carrots. It is usually served with boiled bread dumplings, a bit of cream, a slice of lemon, and in some places, even with a couple of cranberries.

The thing about svíčková is that everyone uses a different recipe which they think is the best. I liked the version of this dish at Café Louvre and at Smíchovské Vidličky a nože which was very traditional!

7. Gingerbread at Perníčkův Sen

Perníčkův Sen

If you are in the mood for some local gingerbread while visiting Prague, make sure to stop by Perníčkův Sen . This is a small shop that serves traditional Czech gingerbread in various shapes and sizes.

Whether you wish to try gingerbread covered in chocolate and filled with jams or wish to order it with almonds, nuts, and chocolate, Perníčkův Sen has it all and more.

Besides gingerbread, this lovely shop also sells aprons, cakes, cookies, and other popular Czech sweets. You can also arrange a custom order piece that includes names of your loved ones; perfect for a present.

8. Traditional Czech cuisine & beer at Lokal

lokal prague

Everyone will tell you that Lokal is the best place to go in Prague for authentic Czech style cooking and classic pub food. This chain of stylish gastro-pubs has 6 locations in the city and is popular both with locals and tourists. It’s also fantastic value for money too!

From Gothaj salami and chicken paprikash to Prague hams with creamy horseradish and Přeštice sausage, every dish prepared here melts in your mouth. What I really liked about this place is that all the smoked meats they serve and made at their very own butcher shop.

Alternatively, this is an amazing beer tour where you learn all about beer in Prague. It also includes a traditional Czech dinner at the end of it too which is a bonus!

9. Dumplings (both savory and fruit)

dumplings prague

Where to eat in Prague when you are craving dumplings? Fortunately, dumplings meals are pretty much everywhere in Prague. The most popular meals with dumplings are raiska, goulash, and svičková.

Since I’ve already mentioned goulash and svičková, it would be fair to say something about raiska omáčka. This is basically beef with sweet tomato sauce and dumplings. The soup is usually made by using chopped tomatoes and tomato paste, where you add the cooked beef, add a variety of spices.

There are also fruit dumplings which are sweet. From strawberry and apricot to blueberry and jam dumplings, there are plenty of versions to choose from. The only downside of dumplings is that if you eat too many of them, you’ll probably feel like you have a brick in your stomach for a couple of hours. Don’t even think about the number of calories these bad boys have.

10. Pickled cheese

pickled cheese

Looking for unique things to eat in Prague? Make sure to try some pickled cheese while staying in the city!

Nakládaný hermelín in Czech, pickled cheese is a classic bar snack found all around the city. It is often served with onions, peppers, and some dark bread. Obviously you have to have a beer with this snack (it is Prague) but I reckon this is the one dish that will really surprise you about Czech cuisine.

11. Pork knuckle

pork knuckle prague

Pork knuckle is probably the most famous dish in the Czech cuisine. It may not look pretty but the taste of this is fabulous. For me, this is what traditional Prague food is all about – it’s not pretty but it is damn tasty!

They usually boil the meat, marinate it in some herbs, pour some nice dark beer, and then let it roast. Here in Prague, pork knuckle is usually served with horseradish, mustard, and pickled vegetables. If you are thinking about what to eat in Prague then you’ve definitely got to try pork knuckle!

12. Moravian wine

prague wine

Although it may seem that everyone drinks beer in the Czech Republic, there are still many people who appreciate a nice glass of wine. And I’m not talking about imported wines from Italy or France, I am talking about the local Moravian wine that you can find in Prague.

An interesting fact is that more than 90% of Czech wine comes from Moravia, a traditional region with hundreds of lush vineyards just 150 miles away from Prague.

What’s also interesting is that some of the vineyards are located on castle grounds. So, if you fancy a glass of wine, go to the Vinograf wine bar near the Charles Bridge where they have the biggest selection of wines from the Moravia region.

When planning your trip here, don’t forget to check out my guide on where to stay in Prague . This is packed full of the best hotels and apartments in the city.

Which one of these Prague dishes would you most like to try? Let me know in the comments below!

We just came back from our trip in Prague… boy I was in love with this city. On the hop-on-hop-off tour around the city and with total eagerness and enthusiasm I have to say we have to come back again in the future. Orloj was remarkably awesome… dreamy ha ha. I could stare at those astronomical clocks like forever. Trdelnik yeah with pistachio um delicious… my daughter tasted the local goulash and I had the Svickova… boy… our very friendly waiter gave us a huge portion of it… those potato and bread dumplings were surprisingly tasty. The honey cake is also a local delicacy I gather… simple… unique… tasty. Its cheap in Prague… no complaints! Last week the weather was gracious… +33 degrees almost everyday… I did not expect though that they still use their own currency (koruna) well 24 to the euro… it’s ok. We usually hang out in the Historical Museum… people watching… ha ha. In front of King Wenceslas statue. Well.. Dekuju Prague.

Ha, I’m glad you had such a good time in Prague! It’s an amazing city with so much to see and do there – I think a lot of people are surprised at how much you can pack into just a few days!

So happy I found this! Thanks for all the research! (I’m sure it was a hardship lol.)

You’re very welcome! I hope you found it useful and I hope you enjoy eating through Prague as much as I did!

Avoid the ham vendors in Old Town Square. It is a “ham scam” for tourists; they list prices per 100g and serve obscenely large portions. You will pay $20-$40 per person for extremely poor quality meat and street food that you eat standing up (when you could easily eat a nice sit-down meal instead).

I love comments like this. Thank you so much for letting people know about the ‘ham scam’! Hopefully it’ll make people aware and avoid it!

Looking forward to the pork knuckle!!!

Thanks for a great article!!!

You’re very welcome! I hope you enjoy all the food, especially the pork knuckle!

Thanks a million. Looks good. We’ll give some of these a try and let you know 😉

Enjoy eating your way through Prague!

Trdelník is not a traditional Czech food: its basicly a tourist trap

I do say that in this article! I know it’s not traditionally Czech but it is solved everywhere in Prague and it is delicious, so that’s why I’ve included it as one of the top things to eat in the city!

As a Czech I have to step in when I see “Trdelník” (chimney cake) mentioned as a traditional Czech food. 😀 It is a few years, since this kind of food started to appearing on nearly every corner in every big city. It has nothing to do with the czech cuisine. Someone probably discovered food which is cheap to make and ripping the tourist off with it. If you are into some sweet pastry, try “moravský koláč” (moravian pie) instead. It is traditional and you can try it in many forms. Also, we don´t eat “chlebíčky” (an open-faced sandwich) for a lunch and definitelly not for a breakfest. Czech cousine is probably not the healthiest one, but even us would not have this kind of food for a breakfest. 😀

Hi Dominik! My name is Sonia. I will be visiting Prague this week .. February 20-24. Do you have recommendations on where I should eat for authentic food? I want to avoid the tourist traps . I eat everything ! Thank you !

Again chimney cake is Traditional Jim also Czech but Been in Canada for 40 yrs

Hello, following your suggestions in Prague for the next few days. Where did you go to have the pickled cheese I can’t seem to find it anywhere? Thank you

Good question! I found it in a specialist cheese shop while I was there as opposed to a restaurant, but I do think some restaurants have it too.

Not only do you get to try a ton of Czech food, but you get to learn about Czech traditions and a different way of life. The restaurants chosen were clearly carefully selected and the portions were more than I expected. All in all, I recommend this tour to anyone wanting to eat as much Czech food as possible.

Nikola was an excellent guide and curated a wonderful experience for us, satisfying even the picky vegetarian amongst our group. She was able to make several last-minute tweaks as she discovered some other dietary preferences in our group to ensure all fully enjoyed the experience.

Our food tour was a highlight of our trip to Prague. Not only was the food delicious and the sites beautiful but our guide, Misa, was delightful. She was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and attentive to all persons in our group. I loved seeing the city at night and feel I got more than our money...

The food tasting tour was excellent and our tour guide Nikola took us to some great restaurants where we had a table waiting and all the food ordered for us. She was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The tour was the absolute highlight of our time in Prague.

This experience was absolutely phenomenal. We shared great food, great stories, and started new friendships. The food was excellent, and Nikola was a gracious host with tons of insight into the city. I can't recommend it enough.

We were so pleased with our tour guide, Nikola, and the amazing food that was prepared for us. She made everyone feel welcomed and guided us to local restaurants that we would never have found on our own. Afterward, she even sent us recipes for our favorite dishes! One word of advice---Go Hungry! There is a lot of super delicious food!

Wonderful evening adventure at a number of very special Prague eateries off the beaten track that provided a glimpse of all types of excellent restaurants, food stops and wine bar that make up the Prague food scene. One got the feeling we were given an opportunity to truly discover and understand the Prague food scene. Definitely recommend!

Our guide Tereza was amazing!! She made our evening so memorable. All of the food was just incredibly delicious. This is a MUST DO!

Had a fantastic time with Johanka on the Prague Old Town Food Experience tour. Tried lots of traditional Czech Cuisine. Very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Would recommend!

Wonderful food tour with Teresa. She is a great guide and has both: passion and knowledge. There is no better way to get to know a city via food (and drinks, of course)

Fantastic Tour and Fabulous Guide Nikola!!!! Such a variety of food and terrific company. Highly Recommended!!!

Obscure European town is a ‘prettier’ Prague alternative — only without the stag dos

Posted: June 4, 2024 | Last updated: June 4, 2024

If you love European city breaks but hate the immense crowds that typically go hand-in-hand with them, a little-known scenic town in the Czech Republic could be just the tonic. With its 13th-century medieval castle, meandering cobbled alleys, and Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements, it’s safe to say that Český Krumlov looks like something straight out of the pages of a fairytale (Picture: Getty Images)

How to get to Český Krumlov

It’s worth pointing out that Český Krumlov might be small but it’s still mighty, as despite its compact stature it attracts around 800,000 tourists every year. Most visitors come during the main season – from April to October. During these peak summer months, you’ll find it rife with backpackers enjoying the scenic riverside picnic spots, as well as raft and canoe enthusiasts looking to take to the waters of the Vltava River. As a result, winter is considered a good time to head to Český Krumlov – with a Christmas market held in the main square and a snow-covered castle (if you’re lucky). However, while November to March sees fewer tourists, it’s worth pointing out that the castle interiors are closed during this period – an important point to keep in mind when planning a trip (Picture: Getty Images)

The best time to visit Český Krumlov

Summers in the town tend to be reasonable and comfortable. In July, peak season, Český Krumlov has an average high temperature of 21°C and an average low temperature of 11°C – the warmest of the year. Whereas in the winter months, from December to February, temperatures plummet to below freezing, averaging between -6°C to -4°C, and often covering the town in snow (Picture: Getty Images)

What is weather like in Český Krumlov?

As the location has such a rich history, there’s plenty to see and do. However, it’s worth pointing out that you can walk across the town in under 30 minutes. So it could be a good choice for those who enjoy slow travel and love taking their time to soak up a destination’s offering. Top attractions to tick off include Český Krumlov State Castle – as well as the castle museum, tower and garden – alongside the art centre, Egon Schiele. But don’t forget to simply take a stroll to immerse yourself in the magical architecture of the city, from the red-roofed houses and plaza fountains, to the striking Church of St Vitus. Not to mention the positively Disney-like cobbled streets, lined with pastel-coloured houses and shops (Picture: Getty Images)

Things to do in Český Krumlov

Four star hotel rooms on Booking.com in Český Krumlov in August hover at around £100 per night, based on two adults. Due to its smaller scale, a long weekend (or 2-3 days) is plenty of time to soak up the town’s offering (Picture: Getty Images)

SNYDE | Bruce Springsteen shares first personal update since postponing European tour

“Hey, this is Bruce Springsteen,” The Boss said in a video posted to Instagram on Monday. “I am in Marseille, [France]. Unfortunately, I could not sing for you . But we will be back — to Marseilles, to Prague and to Milan — to give you the show of your life. That I promise you.”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Bruce Springsteen (@springsteen)

On Sunday, Springsteen announced that doctors had ordered him to stop performing upon “further examination and consulting” after “vocal issues” postponed his Marseille concert on Saturday night.

Springsteen made his announcement two days before he’d been scheduled to perform Tuesday in Prague. Also postponed were his Milan dates this Saturday and Sunday.

The tour is set to resume on June 12 in Madrid, and Springsteen said Monday that was still the plan.

“In the meantime I’d like to thank our Irish fans, our British fans, our friends in Wales, for giving us a series of shows that was deeply memorable,” Springsteen said, alluding to the portion of the tour he had just finished. “We’ll be back — coming back to Madrid and Barcelona, where we plan to rock you into the ground.”

It was not the first time in recent months that health issues forced Springsteen to step back. In August, he postponed two Philadelphia shows due to an unspecified illness. The following month, he was sidelined with peptic ulcer disease , which ultimately forced him to cancel the remainder of his 2023 concert dates .

NATO ministers meet in Prague ahead of talks

Allies ease restrictions on ukraine’s use of arms.

PRAGUE — NATO foreign ministers were meeting in the Czech capital Friday to prepare for this summer’s leaders’ summit as the alliance boosts support for Ukraine and countries one-by-one remove restrictions on how Kyiv can use western-supplied weaponry to combat Russia’s invasion.

A day after U.S. President Joe Biden gave Ukraine the go-ahead to use American munitions to strike inside Russia for the limited purpose of defending Kharkiv, numerous ministers, including those from the Netherlands, Finland, Poland and Germany, expressed approval of the decision, saying that Ukraine has the absolute right to defend itself from attacks originating on Russian soil.

The chorus of allied voices backing greater leeway for Ukraine to use their weapons grew louder in recent weeks after Russia launched artillery strikes on Kharkiv from its territory, prompting appeals for help from Kyiv. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had hinted strongly this week that a change in Washington’s position was coming.

“This is a matter of upholding international law — Ukraine’s right to self-defense,” NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said. “Russia has attacked Ukraine, (which) has the right to defend themselves. And that includes also attacking military legitimate targets inside Russia.”

“If you look at the battlefield now, Russia is launching attacks on Ukraine’s soil from Russian soil with artillery, missiles, and massing troops,” he said. “And, of course, it makes it very hard for Ukraine to defend themselves if they are not allowed to use advanced weapons to repel those attacks.”
