Brothers Osborne Plot Extensive North American Summer Tour

By Jon Freeman

Jon Freeman

Brothers Osborne have confirmed a lengthy U.S. tour set to launch in mid-summer. The We’re Not for Everyone Tour, named for a track on their arena-ready third studio album Skeletons , will take the sibling duo to nearly 50 locations beginning in July.

The trek gets underway July 29th in Philadelphia, with stops including Nashville, Houston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Many of the venues are open-air locations, such as Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater and the Santa Barbara Bowl in California.

TJ and John Osborne will lead their band through a tour that wraps up November 20th in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. “After a Few” singer Travis Denning and 2020 ACM New Female Artist of the Year winner Tenille Townes will alternate opening duties throughout the tour.

In February, singer TJ Osborne publicly came out as gay, making him the only out man signed to a Nashville major label. “It’s been a really wild experience to have come out to very few people — although a lot of my friends and family knew already — and then to come out publicly in one big fell swoop,” he told Ellen DeGeneres during an appearance on her talk show. “In some ways, it’s nice, but it’s made for a very emotional day.”

Brothers Osborne 2021 Concert Tickets Available, Tour Dates And Cities Revealed

' data-src=

Osborne-penned song “Younger Me” on April 17 2021.  Then, the country music singers will hit the road starting from July 29, 2021, to November 20, 2021, when they embark on the We’re Not For Everyone Tour in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Brothers Osborne lengthy US tour will hit 50 locations, including Atlanta, Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York. From the tour plans, they will visit Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater on September 16 and will welcome Travis Denning and Tenille Townes for the tour’s opening slots.

Brothers Osborne Tour and Covid-19 Rules

Interestingly, many of the venues for the summer tour like Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater and the Santa Barbara Bowl in California are open-air locations. So, following the Covid-19 directives from the government won’t be such a big deal for the tour crew.

The Brothers Osborne will guide their band through a tour for the next 4 months and will wrap it up in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Our favorite “After a Few” singer Travis Denning and 2020 ACM New Female Artist of the Year winner Tenille Townes will shuttle the opening tasks throughout the tour.

TJ Osborne’s Shocking Ellen DeGeneres Appearance

In  February, singer TJ Osborne publicly came out as gay, and the news was shocking to many fans of the Osborne brothers. While clearing the air on his sudden announcement, TJ Osborne told Ellen DeGeneres during an appearance on her talk show, “It’s been a wild experience to have come out to very few people although a lot of my friends and family knew already. However, coming out publicly in one big fell swoop. In some ways, it’s nice, but it’s made for a very emotional day.”

Brothers Osborne announce 2021 tour, 'We're Not For Everyone,' includes Nashville date

brothers osborne tour 2021

They might say they're "Not For Everyone," but it's safe to assume Brothers Osborne will easily fill amphitheaters across the country this summer on their just-announced headlining tour.

The country duo's "We're Not For Everyone" tour kicks off July 29 in Philadelphia, Pa. and runs through mid-November with opening acts Tenille Townes and Travis Denning.

The 45-date trek includes a stop at Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater on September 16.

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. CT Friday, April 23 via Ticketmaster. The duo's fan club "The Family" has access to a special presale starting at 10 a.m. local time on April 20.

The tour will finally give brothers John and T.J. Osborne the chance to bring songs from their 2020 album "Skeleton" to the stage. On "Skeleton," their third album, they brought their full live band into the studio for the first time , and cranked up the tempo on songs like the Z.Z. Top-leaning “All Night."

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

“As soon as we started playing, it sounded like we were playing a live show,” John Osborne told The Tennessean last year. “It added a whole new intensity and excitement to our playing, because it felt like we might as well just be out on the road.”

The band also made news earlier this year when T.J. Osborne came out as gay  — making him the first male country artist to be out while signed to a major country label.

This Sunday, Brothers Osborne is up for Duo of the Year and Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

brothers osborne tour 2021

What’s in a family name? Sometimes, telling insights into musical eras and attitudes. In country music, you’ve got your Osborne Brothers, famed Nashville bluegrass band whose ‘60s hits include classic “Rocky Top.” Then you’ve got Brothers Osborne, the rock-fueled country band from the new Nashville by way of Maryland, who broke into higher public circulation starting with the major 2015 hits “Stay a Little Longer” and “It Ain’t My Fault.”

Naturally, both big, hooky career-launching songs were audience favorites when the band paid a return visit to the Santa Barbara Bowl last Friday. Needless to say, no “Rocky Top” in this set.

As it happened, there were Santa Barbara angles in the margins that night, once removed. Brothers Osborne’s young bassist, Pete Sternberg, hails from here, and impressive opening act Madeline Edwards spent her early childhood here, before the family hightailed it to Houston, Texas. After coming on strong at concert’s opening, with her bold, whiskey-toned voice making its soulful commanding presence known over her band Painkillers’ swamp-rocking foundation, her Santa Barbara love and lore became a running theme of her set (a generous one, by opener standards).

For one, she sang the praises of not only this city but of this storied stage, where she remembered hearing Norah Jones and Chick Corea around the ripe-eared age of 7. Late in her set, drawing heavily from her debut album, Crashlanded , she let loose with a well-placed expletive, then half-jokingly added, “When I come back here, I can tell I’m from the South, because I’m crass, tatted, and classless.” And musically ripe and ready to move up the roots-country-rock ranks.

As Brothers Osborne kicked into gear and the brothers appeared in heroic form on the top tier of a layered stage setup, the band came on strong and stayed that way, built around the rich tones and range of singer TJ and the limber country-into-rock-and-back guitar prowess of John. For starters, they leaped into the energized hits “Might as Well Be Me” and the every person empowering “Nobody’s Nobody,” from their third and latest album, last year’s eponymous-titled Brothers Osborne .

brothers osborne tour 2021

Twang factors were in the mix, in varying degrees, though the night, but just as often, the brothers draw energy from a post–Southern Rock source, and while there is a pedal steel guitar in the mix, the classic sound is barely discernible in the guitar-based sound stew. Well-versed in the rock trade, they didn’t skip a genre beat when launching into a ripe cover version of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” (triggering instant memories of the night when Petty played on this stage many years ago).

We get a sense of self-recognition of the Osbornes’ code-switching in the course of a diverse set, or in a clever song like “I’m Not for Everyone,” a concert highlight cut on their 2020 album Skeletons . With tongue only partly in cheek, TJ belts out the self-examining chorus: “I’m like scotch and zydeco bands / I’m like B-side Townes Van Zandt / I’m always speaking my mind / When I’m better off biting my tongue / I’m a bad joke at the wrong time / Hell, I’m a legend in my own mind / I’m good for some but I’m not for everyone.”

The song, which was controversially pulled by country radio gatekeepers, is now a rallying cry of independence, warranting the sudden one-song appearance of a giant flying middle finger prop on the stage for extra defiant measure.

Ping-ponging between subgenres and historical touchpoints within the country-music landscape is a feature of this band’s operation. For encores, the band kicked into the country classic made famous by Don Williams, “Tulsa Time,” but they closed the show with a whole ‘nother kind of song, the introspective ballad “Younger Me,” which earned the band its first Grammy Award, in 2022. The tune, a gentler, kinder concert-capper, represents a very different deviation from old school country norms, as part of the inner reflection of TJ’s coming-out as gay in 2021. He was the first major country artist to do so, and this song is about the suppressed impulse to flee the closet in his “younger days.”

Suffice to say, Brothers Osborne ain’t your father’s country, although there are plenty of buried and repurposed roots in the garden.

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
