Routes North - Nordic travel guide

5 of the best Scandinavian road trips

One of the best ways to enjoy the dramatic landscapes and sensational scenery of Scandinavia is on a road trip.

Here are some of our favourite long-distance journeys, plus a couple of shorter drives that allow you to see the best of the Scandinavia’s scenery as a quick and easy day trip.

So, whether you’re heading out on a full-length road trip or just doing a dramatic short jaunt, buckle up and enjoy the ride.

You can enjoy dramatic scenery along Norway's mountain roads

Oslo to Helsinki

Total distance: 1000km

The Åland archipelago, halfway between Finland and Sweden

Three capital cities, two time zones and one ferry – the car journey from Oslo to Helsinki lets you squeeze in a lot of sights in a relatively short space of time.

This trip follows the fast E18 highway as it sweeps east of Oslo, across Sweden to the port of Kapellskär, on Sweden’s east coast, then continues to Turku in Finland, then finally onto Helsinki.

The first leg of the road trip, from Oslo to Stockholm, is a 600km journey that takes around seven hours. After around 220km you’ll reach the elegant lakeside town of Karlstad , which makes a good place for a lunchtime break.

Alternatively, you can carry on to another pretty lakeside town, Örebro, which is home to a 13th-century castle. The road continues east, running just north of Stockholm , but you’d be mad to miss out on visiting Sweden’s beautiful capital, which makes a great first-night stop.

The next day, it’s a 90km drive to Kapellskär, where you can catch a ferry (8–9 hours) in Finland. The ferry goes via the attractive Åland archipelago, a cluster of Swedish-speaking islands that belong to Finland and lie roughly half-way between the two countries.

Once docked at Naantali, it’s a short (15km) drive to Turku, Finland’s oldest city and former capital, and a great place to spend your second night.

The following day, it’s a 165km drive to the lively but laid-back seafront capital Helsinki , where you can enjoy boat trips galore and some great free attractions .

Renting a car in Scandinavia

Scandinavia is relatively easy to explore using public transport, but if you want to tackle any of these road trips you’re going to need some wheels.

Renting a car is easy and you can almost always take vehicles from one country to another without any hassle or extra charges – but be sure to double check this at the time of booking.

We recommend Rentalcars.com, which lets you compare rental prices from all of the main providers. Search below to find a car for your trip!

Copenhagen to Oslo

Total distance: 600km

The Øresund bridge from Denmark to Sweden

Short on time and want a quick intro to Scandinavia? This road trip takes you through three countries and two capital cities – plus you’ll get to drive across that iconic bridge.

This trip starts in Copenhagen and ends in Oslo , but much of the journey is spent following the Swedish coastline. From Copenhagen, it’s just a 45-minute drive across the Øresund bridge ( a rather hefty toll is payable ), to the likeable city of Malmö in Sweden. Here, you can pick up the E20 to Gothenburg , then the E6 to Oslo.

You can do the whole trip in around seven hours, but it’s better to take your time to stop en route and enjoy the scenery. If you have more time, the sleepier towns of Helsingborg and Varberg make for good places to break the journey.

If you’re not sure about driving, this guide shows you how to get from Copenhagen to Oslo with public transport.

Bergen to Trondheim through Norway’s fjordland

Total distance: 920km

Driving down to the Geirangerfjord is one of the highlights of the Scandinavian road trip

There are several different routes from Norway’s second city (Bergen) to its third (Trondheim).

The fastest and most direct tours sticks to the main roads, but where’s the fun in that? A more spectacular route heads north via Geirangerfjord , zig-zagging up mountains passes and over ferries, taking in gushing waterfalls and some of Norway’s most dramatic scenery.

You could do the whole journey with two long days of driving, but this is not a route you’ll want to rush – you’re best off taking a few days to make the most of landscape, and give yourself plenty of time to stop off for some walks.

Good stopping points along the way are the pretty fjordside villages of Balestrand and Geiranger, the attractive Art Nouveau town of Ålesund and the coastal town of Kristiansund.

Höga Kusten, Sweden

Total distance: around 100km

The High Coast road in Sweden is home to some dramatic scenery

Running along the ‘world’s highest coastline’, this stunning scenic drive may be short, but what it lacks in distance it makes up for in drama.

In the province of Ångermanland, in north eastern Sweden, the E4 highway heads north from the town of Härnösand to Örnsköldsvik, though a landscape formed during the Ice Age and now protected by Unesco heritage status.

The Höga Kusten (or ‘High Coast’) drive passes through pine forests and deep valleys, plus high red granite cliffs and rock formations, with dramatic views over the islands and coastline of Gulf of Bothnia.

If you fancy stopping off en route, it’s a just short detour off the E4 to the Skuleskogen National Park, where there are some awesome hikes and trails to enjoy.

The Atlantic Road, Norway

Total distance: 65km

The Atlantic Road, Norway

Frequently dubbed ‘the world’s most beautiful drive’, and not without reason, the Atlantic Road runs from Bud to Kristiansund along Norway’s west coast.

The route connects the island of Averøy to the mainland, via a series of eight bridges and islets that run for more than 8km – a serious feat of engineering.

The road zigs-zags and switchbacks along the coast, crossing the mouth of a fjord, with waves often crashing alongside the cars.

Make sure you take time to stop at some of the scenic viewpoints along the way! The Askevågen viewpoint juts out over the sea about 10km north of Bud, while the Eldhusøya viewpoint, another 20km or so further along, includes a 700-metre path that runs along the top of the visitor centre out around a rocky headland for fantastic sea views.

Our top 10 road trips in Scandinavia and Finland

Terhi Runnalls

Against the backdrop of COVID-19, road trips are one of the best ways to keep travelling. Explore our top 10 road trip suggestions for our region.

If you’re planning on travelling in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic, road trips are the safest, most controlled way to do so due to the fact that you won’t be sharing a space with an undefined number of strangers. Road trips are also a fantastic option due to the fact that you see a more authentic side of any destination. Driving through the countryside allows you to see more up-close what life looks like in the quiet heart of a country, away from the trendy, fashionable capital cities.

However, despite the image of freedom and the open road, road trips actually take a significant amount of planning, particularly if you’re travelling for several days and cover hundreds of kilometres. With this in mind, we have taken the need for planning out of the equation by listing our top 10 road trip packages and itineraries in Scandinavia and Finland. Note that most of our accommodation options are charming, hand-picked boutique hotels and lodges instead of major chain hotels.

7. Go on a Havila or Hurtigruten cruise

Best Scandinavian tour for:  seeing the fjords and taking in the sea air.

We could not, in all good conscience, write a list of the best Scandinavian tours without covering a cruise along the Norwegian coast and into the fjords of Norway. If you’re looking for a guided tour in Scandinavia, you can’t do much better.

On this classic itinerary, you would spend about 10 days bobbing along the undulating coastline of Norway, past sites such as Sognefjord , the Seven Sisters and the Bridal Veil . Best of all, you can hop on and off and experience treasures on shore like the city of Ålesund .

Oh, and did we mention there's train travel as well? That's right, on this route you also enjoy a trip on the wondrous Flåm Railway.

What is the best itinerary for a tour of the Norwegian fjords?

Day 1:  Arrive in Oslo and enjoy a walking tour of the city, covering the Royal Palace, Akershus fortress, Oslo City Hall and the Oslo Opera House .

Day 2:  In the morning, hop on a train to  Trondheim , which takes you over the Dovre mountain plateau. When you arrive, don't miss the Nidaros Cathedral and the Ringve Museum and botanical garden.

Day 3:  Embrace the maritime pastime of Norway by setting sail along the scenic Trondheim Fjord. You’ll pass Hitra Island, Kristiansund and Molde , before docking in the historic city of Ålesund.

Day 4:  Take some time to explore Ålesund  and discover its Art Nouveau architecture. You could pop by the Atlantic Sea Park and the Fjellstua mountain viewpoint.

Day 5:  On this day, the fjords truly take centre stage. As you sail towards Geirangerfjord , you’ll be able to see the soaring mountains and dramatic waterfalls of the region, including the famed Seven Sisters and Bridal Veil. In the evening, return to Ålesund.

Day 6:  From Ålesund, head down to Bergen. You can spend time by the old wharf of Bryggen, an important heritage site in the city.

Day 7:  You have another day in Bergen. Head to the Edvard Grieg Museum or take in the spectacular panoramic views from Mount Fløyen.

Day 8:  Depart from Bergen travelling all the way to Voss. Then you'll embark on a short fjord cruise to Flåm, and see the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, the narrowest fjord in all of Europe.

Day 9:  In Flåm you can explore and hike around the village. Later, you'll take on the glorious Flåm Railway trip, a 900-metre (3,000 feet), picture-perfect ride up to Myrdal Station. Here, you’ll change trains, and be taken over the magnificent mountainous terrain of Norway, all the way to Oslo.

Day 10:  You’ve arrived, and there’s nothing more to do except enjoy a Norwegian smørrebrød  (an open-faced sandwich invented by the Danes) before departing for home.

Three-week Scandinavia itinerary

  • Route: Copenhagen -> Gothenburg -> Stockholm -> Oslo -> Trondheim -> Bodø -> Lofoten Islands -> Tromsø

Planning to spend three weeks travelling around Scandinavia? Lucky you! This itinerary will take you through the region’s capital cities before heading to Northern Norway for a glimpse of the country’s wild, unspoiled wilderness and (hopefully!) the northern lights.

You could follow this itinerary any time of the year, but Northern Norway is especially magical during the winter months — and, of course, it’s also the best time to see the northern lights .

Speaking of the northern lights, Tromsø — a small city located 350km north of the Arctic Circle — is renowned for being one of the best places in Europe to witness the remarkable phenomenon that is the aurora borealis. If you have your heart set on seeing those otherworldly celestial lights dancing in the night sky, plan to spend at least a few days here to increase your chances of spotting them.

Can’t-miss sights and experiences in Scandinavia

Now that you’ve got your itinerary sorted, it’s time to start planning the most exciting part of your Scandinavia sojourn: everything you’re going to see and do in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

Fuel your wanderlust and get even more amped up about your trip with these can’t-miss attractions and experiences.

  • Sail Norway’s fjords. It’s no secret that Norway has some of the most astonishingly beautiful fjords on the planet. There are more than 1,000 fjords dotted around the country’s coastline, but Geirangerfjord and Sognefjord are two of the most famous.
  • Visit Copenhagen’s famous landmarks. The colourful facades at Nyhavn, the famous Little Mermaid statue, and Tivoli Gardens are a few musts when you’re sightseeing in Denmark’s laid-back capital.
  • Go island-hopping around the Stockholm Archipelago. Made up of roughly 30,000 islands, this is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle and go hiking, sea kayaking, or cycling alongside fields of wildflowers and sweeping views of the Baltic Sea.
  • Try an open-faced sandwich. Smörgås in Swedish, smørrebrød in Danish, smørbrød in Norwegian — the pronunciation of this traditional Scandinavian sandwich may change depending on which country you’re in, but one thing they all have in common? They’re delicious (and you have to try one while you’re in this part of the world).

  • See the stunning landscapes of the Lofoten Islands. You’ve probably seen photos of the Lofoten Islands’ craggy mountains and idyllic fishing villages on Instagram, but nothing compares to seeing the rugged beauty of this remote archipelago in person.
  • Explore Denmark’s fairy tale castles. Frederiksborg Castle (which can be visited on an easy day trip from Copenhagen) is a highlight for any castle fanatic, but there are plenty of grand palaces scattered throughout the country.
  • Celebrate Midsummer in Sweden. Thinking of heading to Scandinavia in June? Try to plan your visit to coincide with Swedish Midsummer, an annual festival that celebrates the start of summer with traditional food, music, and a whole lot of pickled herring and schnapps.
  • See the northern lights . Head to Tromsø — Norway’s gateway to the Arctic — for the chance to cross this once-in-a-lifetime experience off your bucket list.

Getting around Scandinavia

Thanks to an extensive network of train, ferry, and bus services, travelling between Scandinavian countries is both easy and convenient.

Express trains are available between popular destinations (like Copenhagen and Stockholm, for example) and overnight trains are ideal for longer journeys. However, like almost everything else in Scandinavia, train tickets are expensive. Booking ahead and buying an Interrail or Eurail pass will help to keep costs down.

Buses are surprisingly comfortable in Scandinavia, and they offer a viable alternative to the region’s rail network. It’s also worth noting buses are the best transport method of choice when travelling to remote destinations or around the northern reaches of Sweden and Norway.

Mountains and a waterfall in Geirangerfjord, Norway

If you’re short on time — and if you’re planning to travel to the far north — hopping on a flight with a local carrier is your best bet.

Ferries are also an essential part of the Scandinavia travel experience, so don’t forget to pack your motion sickness remedies.

Keep in mind that it may be more difficult to get around the northern part of Sweden and Norway during the winter — especially if you’re planning to rent a car or travel by bus. It’s entirely possible to run into service disruptions or road closures due to inclement weather, so extra planning and preparation is necessary for a Scandinavian holiday in winter.

What do our customers say?

The reviews speak for themselves. See what Nordic Visitor travellers said about their experience with us.

Relaxing and fun journey

The Scandanavian winter tour package and it's connections made it very easy to see the 4 capital cities and Bergen. There were plenty of suggestions for things to see and do. There was a great mix of cruise and rail segments between cities giving us a chance to see other parts of each country. Staff reserved an extra rail and overnight for us as soon as we asked about it. All in all a very relaxing and fun journey.

Just what we wanted

The plan was just what we wanted and the actual trip delivered just that. Nice balance of scheduled events and free time in the cities visited. Hotel locations were excellent and our tour guide was always available and helpful for additional questions and suggestions.

First class

Communication was first class. Selection of accommodation was perfect. Great hotels in good locations.

Very easy process

We found the whole process very easy. The instructions and information provided was clear and made it easy to find hotels and transport links. The hotels were centrally located, close to transport links but were not noisy. Our personal travel consultant was very helpful and friendly. We liked the recommendations suggested in the daily itinerary.

Thoroughly recommend Nordic Visitor

We would recommend Nordic Visitor to anyone considering an introductory tour of Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo. Basics of logistics where well-stated. It was easy to commute from one capital to the next. Itineraries were clear yet flexible. We thought moving from one country to the next would be a challenge - it was not. Nordic Visitor arranged all that was needed, yet gave us the flexibility to do more or otherwise should we want. Again, we thoroughly recommend Nordic Visitor. We look forward to our next excursion in Scandinavia through Nordic Visitor.

Fantastic tour that included the highlights for each country we visited. I really feel like we have seen the best of the countries with the time we had. The activities were terrific. I felt supported by my tour planner, Irja, as we travelled.

Excellent vacation

We had an excellent vacation through Nordic Visitor. The expertise of our tour guide and small group size of 16 enhanced our experience. We had a good blend of free time and tour related programs. We did arrive 2 days early to Stockholm and stayed an additional 2 days in Bergen. We found this time beneficial to explore the areas more.

A pleasure to work with

Working with Nordic Visitor, and specifcally Irja, was a pleasure. She did an excellent job presenting the information. It was nice to see her enthusiasm as she discussed activites the staff liked in each city. She responded to our questions promptly and in detail. The paperwork, itinerary, written day-by-day descriptions, vouchers, and tour info was all very well-thought-out and presented.

I would definitely recommend Nordic Visitor!

I was so happy during this entire trip. I wanted to travel to Norway before but I didn't understand how Norway in a Nutshell worked so the itinerary prepared by Irja was just perfect. She was always available to answer all my questions and the hotels and activities planned were perfect and easy for me as a solo traveller. I just had to enjoy each city. I would definitely recommend Nordic Visitor!

Very well planned

The tour was great and very well planned. We had enough time to explore the cities and the Swedish countryside. It was fun to drive and take the ferries as well.

The best vacation we've ever had!

This was the best vacation we've ever had and I'm planning a Norway trip for August 2024 as we speak. Thanks for a phenomenal time!

An amazing trip

We had an amazing trip in Swedish Lapland and the Scandinavian cities. Nordic Visitor's assistance helped us to have scheduled activities, but also free time to pick and choose what we wanted to do. It was a great balance of planning, with the inclusion of spontaneity!

Getting to Scandinavia

Many of Nordic Visitor’s tours of Scandinavia begin in Stockholm, Sweden’s capital and largest city. Stockholm Arlanda Airport is the main gateway for international air travel in Sweden and is served by dozens of airlines. Furthermore, it serves as a major hub for SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) and Norwegian Air.

Here are examples of other airlines that fly to Stockholm Arlanda: United Airlines, British Airways, Air France, EasyJet, Lufthansa, KLM, Icelandair, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways

We recommend checking airline websites directly for flight availability and timetables. You can also use an airfare search engine, such as Skyscanner, Dohop or Kayak, for example.

Flights are not included in Nordic Visitor packages, but all of our itineraries can be customised with extra nights in Stockholm, or another arrival city in Scandinavia, if you’d like to rest up after your air journey.

Different ways you can experience Scandinavia

We have tours for all varieties of travel styles and interests. See our options for exploring Scandinavia below.

Guided Small Groups

Independent cruise, independent train, scandinavian triangle, what to see on a 7-day tour of scandinavia.

The countries that traditionally constitute Scandinavia include Sweden , Denmark and Norway . It’s ideal to visit these countries in one holiday as they all share similar a cultural heritage and are well-connected via modern motorways, railways and waterways.

With 7 days in Scandinavia, it’s possible to travel to the capital cities of Scandinavia -- Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm -- on an express tour. With comfortable travel by train and ferry, you can enjoy a blend of Scandinavian countryside scenery and city sightseeing.

  • First time in the Nordics? See our 7 amazing Scandinavia tour ideas for first-time visitors

Here’s our suggestion for a 7-day Scandinavia itinerary, including Sweden, Denmark and Norway:

Day 1 - Arrive to Stockholm, Sweden Fly into Stockholm Arlanda Airport and head to your hotel in the city centre. Spend some time walking through Gamla Stan (The Old Town) and enjoy a real Swedish coffee break , with a nice pastry of course, at one of the local cafes in this medieval neighbourhood. Or, hop on a city sightseeing tour by bus or boat to get a relaxing overview of this sophisticated city.

Day 2 - Take the train to Copenhagen, Denmark Head to Stockholm Central Station after breakfast and board the train for Copenhagen. Enjoy views of southern Sweden’s idyllic countryside, with colourful little timber cottages, on the way. Once in Denmark’s capital, take a walk down the city’s popular Strøget  shopping street for some good people-watching. Or, take part in the fun and games at the 19th-century Tivoli Gardens, one of the world's oldest amusement parks.

Day 3 - Overnight cruise to Oslo, Norway Spend the day exploring Copenhagen. Take a canal tour to see the sights from the city’s waterways, or be like the bicycle-happy Danes and rent a bike to get to the attractions. Make sure to check out the beautiful Amalienborg Palace and Christiansborg Palace, as well as the colourful Nyhavn harbour and the Little Mermaid. Save room for  the delicious Danish food , too! Later you'll head to Oslo on an overnight cruise.

Day 4 - Explore Norway’s capital city After your ship arrives early in the morning, the whole day is yours to roam Oslo. Take a walk to the bustling Aker Brygge waterfront area and visit the Akershus Fortress. Or, head to the Bygdøy peninsula to learn about the country's seafaring history at a handful of maritime museums. Are you an art lover? Walk through the beautiful Vigeland Sculpture Park to see the artworks by Norwegian artist Gustav Vigeland.

Day 5 - Oslo to Stockholm by train In the morning after breakfast, take the train from Oslo Central Station to Stockholm. Back in Sweden’s charming capital, take some time to check out attractions you missed on day one. Why not stroll over to see the stately City Hall, where the Nobel banquets are held, before finding a nice place for dinner.

Day 6 - Extra day in Stockholm Fun fact: Stockholm is a city built over 14 islands! Today is a great opportunity to explore some of them. One we recommend in particular is Djurgården, a tranquil green oasis that’s home to numerous attractions, including the popular Vasa Museum, the ABBA Museum, the Gröna Lund amusement park and the Skansen open-air museum.

Day 7 - Depart from Stockholm Fly back from from Stockholm Arlanda Airport and make your friends jealous with all your great vacation photos!

  • Find out why Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo are 3 of the top Scandinavian cities to visit

Want to add a Norway in a Nutshell tour to your Scandinavian trip to see the fjords? This journey between Oslo and Bergen in Norway is -- at minimum -- a full day trip, not to mention all the extra time you’ll want for exploring the gorgeous city of Bergen and the nearby natural attractions. So factor in a few extra days if you want to spend some time on Norway's west coast. It's also possible to customise a 7-day Scandinavia itinerary to focus just on Norway if the fjords are on your bucket list.

Are you planning to spend 7 days in Scandinavia in winter? For great northern lights viewing opportunities, see our winter travel packages in Northern Norway and in the Lapland region of Sweden and Finland.

Want to take a 7-day Scandinavia road trip?

On a summertime  self-drive tour in Scandinavia , you’ll have the freedom to pull the car over at whatever attractions catch your interest. The best part? You won’t have to worry about where you’re going or sleeping, because your Nordic Visitor travel consultant has already sorted those local arrangements for you. You’ll also have access to our 24/7 emergency helpline if you find yourself in a spot of trouble on the road.

Mind you, a 7-day road trip in Scandinavia may not be enough time to experience more than two countries in one trip, but you would be able to enjoy the countryside between two of the major cities -- for example, a road trip from Stockholm, Sweden to Copenhagen, Denmark. If you want to slow down the pace and take in more than one Scandinavian country, we highly recommend extending your Scandinavia self-drive tour to 9 days or more .

What’s more, all of Nordic Visitor’s  Scandinavia tour packages  can be tailored by our local experts with extra nights at select locations or modified driving routes if you have any particular attractions in mind. Just  contact us  to ask.

  • Travelling on your own? Find out why Scandinavia is perfect for solo travellers

Want to join a guided tour of Scandinavia?

To see Scandinavia from a local’s point of view… and make some new friends along the way, a guided small group tour of the Scandinavian cities  in summer is a great option! To fully appreciate the top attractions of Denmark, Sweden and Norway, we recommend extending your travel time to at least 10 days . This extra time will allow you to travel at a comfortable pace and enjoy Scandinavia’s number one attraction -- the Norwegian fjords.

Five Things to Know: Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed

The innovative Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed returns this week to Sweden as talent from both the DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour come together again. Here are your five things to know.

Välkommen till Vasatorps Golfklubb

A trailblazing event

Now into its fourth edition, and fourth to be held in Sweden, the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed exemplifies inclusivity on the global stage.

Co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour, the tournament features a field of 78 men and 78 women playing in the same groups for one prize fund and one trophy.

After Northern Ireland’s Jonathan Caldwell won the inaugural event in 2021, history was made a year later when home favourite Linn Grant became the first woman to win a DP World Tour event, before Dale Whitnell won his maiden Tour title 12 months ago.

Ten-time Major champion Annika Sörenstam successfully hosted three editions of the innovative mixed event but takes a step back from those duties as she concentrates on inspiring the next generation with the ANNIKA Foundation.

A new host venue with history on the DP World Tour

As in keeping with previous editions, the tournament is being taken to a new venue once again.

After last year’s edition on the bank of Lake Ullna, Vasatorps Golf Club in southern Sweden is the scene of the latest staging in the event’s history.

Formed in 1973, the club is located 20 minutes from central Helsingborg in Skåne County and has a history of hosting professional golf tournaments.

Back in 1978, the late, great Seve Ballesteros won the first of three Scandinavian Enterprise Opens at this venue, which has since formed part of the European Challenge Tour schedule and featured on the Ladies European Tour, including the 2002 Compaq Open won by Hall of Famer Sörenstam.

Seve Ballesteros wins at Vasatorps Golfklubb in 1978

Whitnell defends

After 14 years as a professional and 106 events, Dale Whitnell claimed his maiden DP World Tour title with a three-shot victory in last year’s event.

The Englishman set the tone for his week at Ullna Golf and Country Club with a closing 96-yard hole-out eagle on day one and carried that momentum into a second-round 61 that handed him a six-shot lead at the halfway stage.

While Whitnell saw his advantage cut to just two by American Sean Crocker at one point on the final day, he birdied the 17th to ease the pressure and finished on 21 under.

The former Walker Cup player, who found work off the course while playing mini-tour events after struggling to make an impact in the paid ranks, comes into his title defence on the back of missing four of his last five cuts but with memories of his win still front and centre.

Strong Swedish challenge target home success

With 25 Swedish players across both men and women in town, the crowds will not be in short supply of home players to cheer on.

Leading the men are a host of DP World Tour winners, including PGA TOUR dual member Alexander Björk, Vincent Norrman, Sebastian Söderberg and Jesper Svensson.

On the women’s side, they will be joined by past champion Grant’s Solheim Cup teammates Caroline Hedwall and Madelene Sagström along with 2023 Ladies European Tour Player of the Year Johanna Gustavsson.

Official World Ranking points will be on offer for both Tours, as well as Race to Dubai points for the men and Order of Merit and Solheim Cup points for the women.

Array of initiatives planned

The Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed is a tournament that puts sustainability at the forefront with initiatives celebrating the environment, as well as supporting social aspects.

Among a raft of activities planned, local pre-school children will join two Swedish players from both the DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour in a beach clean, raising awareness of sustainability and environmental issues in everyday life.

As part of the European Tour group’s Green Drive pledge, water refill stations will be dotted around the fan village at Vasatorps, there will be no single-use plastic at catering options across the site, and title partner Volvo are providing a fully electric courtesy car fleet.

Teenage local children will also take part in a Careers in Golf workshop, benefiting from a behind the scenes tour to hear about the various career paths in the sport.
