Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet

Seven seas grandeur, seven seas splendor, seven seas explorer, seven seas voyager, seven seas mariner, seven seas navigator, review of regent seven seas cruises.

Regent Cruises (officially RSSC-Regent Seven Seas Cruises, rssc.com ) is a top-luxury cruise line and trademarked travel brand (fka "Radisson Seven Seas"). RSSC's current owner is NCLH (Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings) - also the owner of the subsidiaries / sister-brands NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line  and Oceania Cruises . RSSC's headquarters address is "1000 Corporate Drive, Suite 500, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33334 USA".

The RSSC ships are medium-size top luxury passenger ships, with a capacity of up to 700 guests each, all 6-star rated all-suite all-balcony vessels. Regent offers a generous space-to-guest ratio of over 70, and a staff-to-guest ratio of 1/1,6 - some of the best ratios in the industry. Regent cruise ships offer some of the world's best, all-inclusive luxury cruise deals. These are also among the most expensive cruise vessels in the world.

All Regent ships are named with the prefix "Seven Seas", connotating all the world's oceans. The name is a most proper one, especially for the Voyager - an ex-USSR's Navy ice-class ship-to-be. Bought as a hull, she is now one of the most recognizable top luxury passenger ships, sailing all the Seven Seas of the World.

The Regent brand serves a clientele of predominantly affluent, middle-aged and older travelers, who expect a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and sophistication on board. The brand line is the epitome for impeccable service of the highest standards. RSSC's all-inclusive vacation packages offer care-free world cruising in an ambiance of luxury, quality, and value.

RSSC is well-appreciated also as one of the best cruise brands for families celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. The top-luxury RSSC ships enjoy some of the highest passenger loyalty rates.

On June 6, 2022, NCLH announced an expansion of its fleetwide sustainability program "Sail & Sustain". Extending its animal welfare policy, the shipowner is now fully committed to responsible animal food sourcing practices (regarding pork, chicken, eggs, and seafood) within the global fleet's supply chain. The goal is by the year 2025, fleetwide (NCL, Oceania, Regent) to be sourced only cage-free eggs, crate-free pork, certified sustainable seafood, and chicken purchased from American and Canadian suppliers who meet GAP (Global Animal Partnership) standards.

In late-June 2022, RSSC announced a new Italian menu to be introduced in November 2023 (on the newbuild Grandeur ) and later rolled out fleetwide. The new menu (developed for the Italian restaurant chain Sette Mari) includes items like Bruschetta al pomodoro (tomato), Cavatelli ai frutti di mare (filled pasta), Zucchini alla poverella, Insalata di Panzanella (bread salad) alla Masseria Salamina (17th-century castle in Fasano), Cozze gratinate al forno (stuffed mussels), Branzino in agrodolce (spigola in sweet-and-sour sauce), Pasticcini alla mandorle (Sicilian baked sweets), Chef Nino's Cioppino (fish stew), focaccia con pomodorini (Italian flat bread made with olive oil and flavoured with herbs).

Since January 2023, RSSC's President is Andrea DeMarco, who succeeded Jason Montague. Regent's and Oceania's Presidents both report to NCL's President (currently Harry Sommer).

In 2023 was launched the "Epicurean Perfection" culinary program grouping specially curated "Epicurean Spotlight Voyages". On select sailings, RSSC schedules food & wine-themed shipboard and land-based events like culinary-themed land tours and onboard cooking classes, tastings and food & wine pairings hosted by celebrity chefs and held at the ship's specialty restaurants.

Ship refurbishments

In January 2016, an USD 125 million drydock refurbishment plan was revealed for 3 ships in the RSSC fleet. The aim was to bring the vessels in line with the new Seven Seas Explorer (launched in 2016). The 2-year fleet upgrade plan started with the smallest 490-passenger Seven Seas Navigator (April 2016). Seven Seas Voyager was next (2016), followed by Seven Seas Mariner (2017).

The list of numerous onboard renovations included refurbishing of most public spaces, a complete redesign of all staterooms, ship technology, and equipment upgrades. After the fleet renovation program was completed, RSSC started offering free unlimited Internet and Wi-Fi to all cruise passengers (regardless of cabin categories).

As a top-luxury, all-inclusive cruise line, RSSC provides deals inclusive of beverages (including fine wines and premium spirits) and all-inclusive cruise fares (with roundtrip airfare, shore excursions, gratuities included). The line's newly expanded shore excursions program offers complimentary 3-night land tours in new locations (Cape Town South Africa, Hong Kong, and Beijing China, Angkor Wat Cambodia). The experience features African safaris, China's Great Wall, an elephant camp in Thailand.

On February 11, 2019, RSSC announced its partnership with Vero Water (eco-friendly bottled water supplier) to eliminate all single-use plastic bottles fleetwide. In the period April-June 2019, all Regent cruise liners were outfitted with Vero Water (onboard purification) systems eliminating ~2 million plastic bottles annually. Project's implementation schedule for 2019 included the ships Voyager (April 5), Explorer (April 8), Mariner (June 5) and Navigator (June 18). All RSSC cruise customers are provided complimentary with re-useable Vero Water bottles (Regent-branded, 1 per person) to be used ashore and after the voyage to take home as a souvenir.

In 2019, RSSC introduced fleetwide an innovative plant-based menu items. Naturally, the upgraded shipboard menus target mainly vegetarian and vegan passengers. The new dishes include:

According to statistics, 9 of 10 plant-based meals are eaten by no-vegans, and luxury travelers are increasingly interested in plant-based fare. RSSC's 200 plant-based food selections are integrated into ship's daily menus, instead of listed on separate menus. The offerings were developed by the company's VP of Food and Beverage - Bernhard Klotz, in cooperation with celebrity chef Christophe Berg.

RSSC cruises to Cuba

RSSC was the only North American luxury travel brand that was granted permission to offer cruises to Cuba. More visits to the unique Caribbean island country were added for season 2020, but the schedule was canceled due to the pandemic.

Note: According to the current Cuban law, US citizens of Cuban origin (born in Cuba) are not allowed to visit the island country (including on cruise ships). Regardless of their US citizenship status, Cuban-born Americans were denied booking on cruise itineraries visiting ports in Cuba. However, the situation changed in April 2016, after Carnival Corporation negotiated with the Cuban government for allowing ships with Cuban-born passengers, as such US citizens are allowed to visit the country on USA-Cuba charter flights. The Carnival-fathom line started Miami to Cuba cruises in May 2016.

Alaska Airlines offers regular nonstop flights to Havana from Los Angeles (California USA). An 80-min ling JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale (Florida) to Havana costs less than USD 100. Previously, air travel from the USA to Cuba was thought charter flights only.

  • You will receive cruise documents, including e-tickets, approximately 45 days prior to your ship's departure date.
  • Ships begin boarding at noon on the scheduled day of departure. If you are traveling from a U.S. port, you must board at least two hours prior to sailing time; if you are leaving from a port outside the U.S., you must board at least 90 minutes prior to departure.
  • Guests are required to bring the appropriate travel documents; passport, visa and vaccination requirements vary by itinerary. The cruise line requires all guests have passports that are valid for six months after the cruise ends, regardless of ports of call. For more information about entry requirements for various countries, visit the  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  and World Health Organization websites.
  • Passengers can book shore excursions up to 300 days before the start of their cruise (or up to 365 days in advance for guests eligible for the Concierge Amenities) by visiting Regent's My Account page . Dinner reservations can also be made through the My Account portal beginning 75 days before the ship's departure date (or 90 days before embarkation for travelers in Concierge Suites or higher). If you desire additional reservations, you may speak with the restaurant's maître d' once on board. Any dietary restrictions must be sent to Regent Seven Seas via email at least 120 days prior to departure for sailings embarking in the U.S. and 150 days before all other trips.
  • Regent Seven Seas does not enforce weight, size or quantity restrictions for baggage. However, the cruise line suggests travelers check with their airline and pack accordingly.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship’s Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship’s Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line. All ship Traveler Ratings are based on ratings provided under license by Cruiseline.com.

Accessibility

Regent Seven Seas Cruises, voted one of Travel + Leisure readers' favorite midsize-ship ocean cruise lines in our 2023 World's Best Awards , is well-known for incredible service and an all-inclusive rate that includes everything from business-class flights to unlimited shore excursions. The luxury cruise line's sixth ship, the Seven Seas Grandeur, set sail for its inaugural season at the end of 2024. The ship was named one of T+L's best places to travel in 2024 , and I was on board the ship’s three-night christening sailing for a first look inside the stunning new vessel.

It was clear from the moment my mom and I stepped on board that one of the ship’s greatest luxuries — beyond fine dining, a multimillion-dollar art collection, and gorgeous common areas — is space. With a maximum of 746 guests per sailing, Grandeur is a far cry from mega-ships where pool crowds and buffet lines are the norm. With spacious all-suite, all-balcony accommodations and intimate specialty restaurants, the ship felt lively but never crowded. Designed by Studio DADO, the ship's dazzling common areas are decorated with a 1,600-piece art collection including multiple Picassos and the first-ever Fabergé Egg to be permanently installed at sea. (Sarah Fabergé, founding member of The Fabergé Heritage Council and great-granddaughter of Peter Carl Fabergé, is the ship’s godmother.)

Elizabeth Rhodes/Travel + Leisure

  • All-suite, all-balcony accommodations provide thoughtful touches and ample space to spread out.
  • Seven dining venues — including signature restaurant Compass Rose, Asian-inspired Pacific Rim, and more — offer 130 new dishes, including many plant-based options.
  • A 1,600-piece art collection includes “Journey in Jewels,” the first Fabergé Egg to permanently reside on a cruise ship.
  • Regent is an all-inclusive cruise line, so everything from flights and unlimited shore excursions to alcoholic beverages, valet laundry service, and dining at specialty restaurants are included in the rate.

While cruises are often about the ports of call, the Seven Seas Grandeur — sibling ship to RSSC's Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor , is a destination in itself. In fact, although my mom and I were tempted by the unlimited included shore excursions at our port in the Bahamas, we opted to stay on board to experience every amenity the ship had to offer.

Here, my review of the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur .

On Grandeur , 373 guest accommodations range from the entry-level Veranda Suites to the one-of-a-kind, 4,443-square-foot Regent Suite. Deluxe Veranda and Veranda Suites offer up to 361 square feet of space, outfitted with upscale finishes and, of course, their own balconies. I stayed in a Concierge Suite, of which there are 140 on board. With a super-comfortable Elite Slumber bed facing the balcony, a very spacious walk-in closet, and a bathroom with two sinks, a shower, and a separate tub, this suite offered plenty of storage and lots of room to spread out.

Besides the bright and open design in ocean-inspired hues of blue and cream, I loved the attention to detail in my suite, down to the field glasses sitting in the cabinet, ready to help you spot wildlife or faraway islands. The two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath Regent Suite, priced at $11,000 per night, offers spectacular amenities including its own hot tub, unlimited spa services offered in-suite, and private dining in a room hidden between two of the ship’s specialty restaurants.

There are seven unique dining venues and several bars located throughout the ship, and specialty restaurants are included in the rate. Over 130 new dishes were added to the menus on Grandeur , and there are more than 200 plant-based options served across the ship for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Compass Rose, Regent’s signature restaurant, received a gorgeous transformation by Studio DADO for Grandeur ; behind a metal waterfall-like sculpture, guests will find an illuminated dining room that resembles a magical forest.

Prime 7 is the ship’s steakhouse, redesigned with influences from New York City’s classic 20th-century steakhouses. Chartreuse celebrates classic French cooking and glamour with a dining room inspired by the Parisian metro’s art nouveau stations and Coco Chanel’s designs. The entrance to Pacific Rim, a pan-Asian specialty restaurant serving sushi, dim sum, and more, is marked by an impressive bonsai cherry tree sculpture by Savoy Studios.

La Veranda is the ship’s main buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch; during our sailing, we enjoyed sushi, lobster, paella, salads, and a very delicious cronut during casual meals here. In the evening, La Veranda becomes Sette Mari at La Veranda, a table-service restaurant serving Italian food. If you want a classic cheeseburger, lobster nachos, or a Korean fried chicken sandwich — or even just a milkshake by the pool — the Pool Grill has you covered with relaxed al fresco eats. And the baristas at Coffee Connection are ready to make your espresso drinks just the way you like them. On our third day, the barista actually had my mom’s coffee ready as soon as she sat down — she didn’t even have to order, he just remembered how she liked it.

Of course, if you’d rather take your meals in your beautiful suite, you can also enjoy included room service 24 hours a day.

There are several bars and lounges on board, too: The Meridian Lounge, where you’ll find daily afternoon tea service (a personal favorite) and live entertainment in the evenings; the lively Grandeur Lounge located across from the casino; and the Observation Lounge, with incredible ocean views during the day and live piano at night.

Where Regent Seven Seas Grandeur Sails

Regent Seven Seas Grandeur will spend its nearly sold-out 2024 sailing the Caribbean, Central America, North America, and Europe; itineraries range from seven to 16 nights. This summer, a seven-night Mediterranean Sea cruise will visit ports in Italy, Malta, and Spain, for example.  Later in the season, a 10-night roundtrip cruise from Miami will include stops in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Barts, Antigua, and the British Virgin Islands.

Regent includes unlimited shore excursions on every sailing so guests can take full advantage of what each port has to offer. On our cruise to Freeport, Bahamas, excursions included swimming with the pigs at a local beach, relaxing at a nearby resort, snorkeling, touring Grand Bahama Island on a Jeep safari, and more. You can find a list of shore excursions on the Regent website for each port before booking, and you can book them online starting at 365 days before your cruise if you booked a suite with concierge amenities or 300 days in advance without concierge benefits. While there are typically several free options for every port, Regent Choice Shore Excursions are also available for an additional charge.

Amenities and Entertainment

With a turquoise pool surrounded by dozens of sun loungers, several hot tubs, outdoor sports courts, and a host of daily activities ranging from trivia to live entertainment, there’s plenty to do on board the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur . Starting at the top on Deck 12, a bocce court, pickleball court, shuffleboard, a golf net, and a putting green with holes inspired by famous golf courses around the world offer fun ways to soak in the ocean views on a sea day. The Observation Lounge, Card Room, Connoisseur Club, and Library (with countless travel books stocked so you can read all about your next destination) on Deck 11 are cozy spots to unwind.

The Culinary Arts Kitchen — Regent’s cooking school at sea — is a gorgeous space where guests can learn how to make dishes inspired by the places they’re sailing to — without having to do any of the prep work or clean up. I took a class and learned how to make pasta al limone and crepes; I loved the hands-on instruction and picked up a few helpful tips to use when I cook at home.

The Serene Spa and Wellness section of the ship on Decks 5 and 6 includes a number of treatment rooms (including one with an amber and quartz bed), a gym with workout classes and fitness consultations, and a hydrothermal suite with a sauna, steam room, chill room, and experiential showers. There’s also an outdoor relaxation area with three whirlpools looking back over water; this was one of my favorite places to spend time admiring the ocean during our three-night cruise.

Split between Decks 4 and 5 is the Constellation Theater, the main entertainment venue where guests can watch four Broadway-style shows. I was thoroughly entertained by the "Marauder’s Ball," a pirate adventure told through pop songs and classic swashbuckling tunes. Also on Deck 4, guests can shop around the boutiques, play slots or table games at the glitzy casino, or hang out in the Grandeur Lounge.

Guests can also learn about some of the works in the ship’s 1,600-piece art collection through a digital art tour offered through the Regent app.

Family-friendly Offerings

While not strictly an adults-only cruise line, Regent cruises are best for adults traveling without small children. The Club Mariner children’s program (for ages 5-17) is available on select sailings, but with many adult-focused spaces and entertainment, this ship is better suited for travelers without little ones. Under-16s are not allowed in the spa or fitness center.

There are a couple of handicap-accessible suites available on Grandeur featuring roll-in showers and other accessible features. There are elevators and ramps located throughout the common areas on the ship; I saw several guests navigating the ship using various mobility devices during my voyage.

Insider Today

I vacationed how the "other half" vacations — aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises' newest ship, the ultra-luxury Grandeur .

Unfortunately, I loved it.

After three nights aboard the $525.4 million vessel during its non-revenue "christening" sailing, I now understand why wealthy travelers are shelling out over $4,000 for one week on the floating resort.

Cruises have never been my preferred vacation option.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

But after Regent invited me to sail on its new Seven Seas Grandeur, I realized my problem: I just hadn't experienced an ultra-luxury ship yet.

While many cruise giants are cutting back on expenses, Regent Seven Seas is splurging big.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Picture free-flowing champagne, caviar at every dinner, and cabins that could rival a five-star hotel.

With a guest capacity of 746, the 735-foot-long vessel was smaller than what I’m used to.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Before this, I feared traveling on small cruise ships — I assumed there would be a lack of amenities.

Despite my early concerns, the Seven Seas Grandeur quickly became one of the best ships I’ve traveled on.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Unlike most mass-market family friendly cruises , there were no loud water slides, busy arcades, or amenities designed for children.

Instead, the ship's quiet nooks, upscale ambiance, and attentive service made me feel at ease.

The Grandeur facilitated a peaceful three-night break from the hustle and bustle of my life on land.

But peaceful doesn't mean boring. To keep the interior from feeling too dull, the neutral walls were decorated with an extensive art collection — worth $6 million, Regent Seven Seas touts. This includes several original Pablo Picasso pieces and a custom — but shockingly small — Fabergé egg.

On this note of excess luxury: During a 10-night sailing, the Grandeur will carry 1,200 pounds of lobster, 1,000 pounds of filet mignon, and 20 pounds of caviar, according to its operator.

Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean rolled back its unlimited "lobster night" in 2022.

And unlike the larger operator— which offers a cheaper base fee but upcharges on drink, food, and WiFi packages — Regent Seven Seas is all-inclusive.

No need to pull out your wallet unless you want more expensive wines or excursions. Flights to and from the ship, other excursions, drinks, and food are all included in the fare.

Yes, this includes dinners at specialty restaurants. No need to pay extra for the foie gras-topped beef tenderloin or the whole lobster.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Besides the less-than-mediocre sashimi platter, the food aboard the Grandeur was the best I've had on a ship.

Every menu had black truffles, foie gras, or caviar.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Remember the Picassos? Three of them were hung up in the steakhouse, Prime 7.

If steaks aren’t your thing, the ship also also two buffets and pan-Asian, French, and Italian restaurants.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

In the largest dining room, Compass Rose, every diner had two Versace plates and a customizable menu that let guests pair proteins and pasta with various sauces and sides.

The Versace plates were admittedly over the top — the larger of the two were just for show, removed before the food came.

At French-influenced Chartreuse, I dined on mushroom soup and steak tartare topped with a layer of sturgeon caviar.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

And at Pan-Asian Pacific Rim, I gnawed on soft-shell crabs fried to crispy perfection and glutinous char siu-inspired ribs.

Even the poolside buffet was a decadent feast.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

During the one-day Italian-themed afternoon buffet, diners were greeted with raw oysters, various focaccias, and fresh tuna.

Other than the cured meats and cheeses table, this buffet wasn’t very “Italian.”

regent seven seas cruises 2023

But I'm not complaining — it was the best cruise meals I've had so far.

It wouldn’t be a cruise without some booze. The Grandeur did this a bit differently.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Unlike most ships, alcohol wasn't the main attraction. Instead, bars served as a backdrop to venues like the lounges, pool deck, and even the coffee shop.

I spent most of my time at the latter, which became my remote office while working at sea. (I spent most of my time complaining about the slow WiFi).

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Instead of a typical grab-and-go coffee counter, patrons seated themselves at the surrounding tables. Waiters then came to take their coffee and espresso orders.

But for afternoons when I craved sunlight, I found the pool deck to be a quiet and calm workspace as well — that is until the DJ arrived.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Rows of lounge chairs, many shaded or located on the upper deck, surrounded this small pool deck. Again, instead of ordering at the bar, waiters approached sunbathing guests for their drink orders, this time boozier.

The pool deck was never too crowded.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

While this could have been a product of my non-revenue sailing, it made this open-air space a peaceful destination.

Travelers seeking a quieter reprieve can head to the stocked library or one of the three lounges.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

At night, some of these lounges adopted a club-like atmosphere.

During afternoons at sea, the Grandeur also hosted classic cruise programming like live music, a corn hole competition, and trivia.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Like other premium cruises , there was an afternoon tea service with desserts and sandwiches. It was one of the only activities I felt compelled to attend.

Unfortunately, the typical nighttime cruise show wasn't my favorite.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

As expected, "Marauders' Ball" — a song-and-dance performance that covered popular hit songs — was a hard watch. While the costume designs were fun, the plot was confusing and the songs were predictable and cheesy.

But I’ll overlook this show for all the other complimentary amenities, of which there were plenty.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Access to spa amenities like the humid aromatherapy room, beverages in the cabin, and laundry were included in the fare.

Dispel whatever stereotypes you may have about cruise ship staterooms: All of the 373 cabins had a balcony.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

My 322-square-foot concierge suite — which had an additional 83- to 132-square-foot balcony — was so large, I had no idea what to do with the extra space.

There was even a walk-in closet, though it was quite narrow.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

For what it's worth, I never thought I'd be complaining about a walk-in closet in my cruise stateroom.

But at a steep 2024 starting price of $5,455 per person for a seven-night cruise, wouldn't you want your concierge cabin to be faultless?

However, the rest of my cabin picked up the closet’s slack.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

The balcony was unnecessarily spacious, the espresso machine was stocked with Illy coffees, and the marble-detailed bathroom had both a walk-in shower and a bathtub.

My cabin also came with a complimentary bottle of Monopole champagne and a plate of fruit.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

If you regularly sail on premium cruise ships , you're probably already used to the free bottle of booze.

After non-revenue sailings like this, I always ask myself: could I stay here an entire week?

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Many new giant cruise ships have fun amenities like rock climbing walls, exhilarating slides, and even virtual reality arcades. While they're obviously designed for children, I'll admit I enjoy these onboard activities — they help pass the time.

The closest the Grandeur had to these was the sports deck complete with a mini-golf course, running track, and the expected pickleball court.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

I couldn't kill a few hours here like I could in an arcade.

But for once, I didn’t care: The ship was so peaceful, all I wanted to do was relax, take it slow, and enjoy the warm weather.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

And now that I've had a taste of what a true luxury cruise is like, it'll be hard to go back to the other ships. How will I ever survive a vacation without endless truffle and foie gras again?

Caviar just seems to taste better when it’s served on a swaying boat.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

And a quiet afternoon just seems more palatable when you're spending it in the complimentary sauna.

These bottomless luxuries don’t come cheap: Grandeur’s 2024 itineraries and cabins range from $4,115 to $84,000 per person.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

While these costs do include flights, almost $600 per person per night may seem unreasonable to most cruisers.

But if it’s within your budget, the Seven Seas Grandeur could be a great all-inclusive option.

regent seven seas cruises 2023

If you're someone who loves great views of the ocean, bottomless caviar tins, unlimited wines, and a peaceful ambiance, you'd probably love the Grandeur.

The wealthy sure know how to cruise in style.

If you can afford it, why not try it out?

regent seven seas cruises 2023

Even if you don't like the ship, at least excursions are included in the fare. The Grandeur will spend 2024 sailing around the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

All-Star Amenities: The tasting menu at the onboard restaurant S.E.A., crafted by the Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg in Germany’s Michelin-starred chef Sven Elverfeld

Its 298-passenger ship, Evrima , marries a yacht-like experience with access to even more amenities (six restaurants, four pools, suite-style sea-facing cabins, salon, spa, fitness center and more). Ultimately, the feel here is of a true luxury hotel at sea.

Guest room on Osiris

Viking Osiris

Recommended Itinerary: 12-Night Pharaohs & Pyramids
Departure: From August 21, 2024
All-Star Amenities: The sheer knowledge of and access to the crew

Time spent on Viking River Cruises’ Viking Osiris is not only a retreat, but an enlightening experience. Known for its educational programming, the ship features lectures and informative guides that highlight seemingly endless knowledge on everything Egyptian (ancient to modern). Paired with the Nile as a backdrop, you’ll find yourself absorbing more than you can have possibly imagined. Built for just 82 passengers, the intimate ship is a modern vessel built specifically for the Nile, with intentional Scandinavian design details. It has a light and bright feel, encouraging outdoor exploration of the riverbanks through plenty of outdoor decks. Guests must be 18 years or older, which makes this a great option for couples or older families who can truly appreciate the experience.

Umi Uma on the Crystal Symphony.

Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony

Recommended Itinerary: 10-Day Venice to Athens on the Crystal Symphony
Departure: From November 14, 2024
All-Star Amenities: The only Nobu restaurant at sea, Umi Uma by Nobu Matsuhisa Restaurant and Sushi Bar

After a brief hiatus in 2022, Crystal Cruises made a comeback in 2023, setting sail as Crystal—Exceptional at Sea under guardianship of the Abercrombie & Kent travel group. Along with the new name, Crystal refreshed its two ships, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony , and reintroduced them to the world of luxury with more spacious suites, a revamped spa and refreshed entertainment and events programming. The real star of the show, however, is Crystal’s exceptional dining, anchored by the only Nobu restaurant at sea, Umi Uma by Nobu Matsuhisa Restaurant and Sushi Bar, which can be found on both ships. One meal at Umi Uma is included with your sail (per person, on sailings 11 days or shorter) with each additional visit available for a charge of just $50 per person—incredible value to experience fan favorites like the miso-marinated black cod. Aside from a night at the most luxurious specialty restaurant you can find on a cruise ship, the rest of Crystal’s dining offerings are equally superb, from seasonal dishes at Waterside to classic Italian fare at Osteria D’Ovidio.

With an elegant design that reads yacht-like, Pursuit includes fine dining options for a true luxury cruise experience.

Seabourn Pursuit

Recommended Itinerary: 21-Day Antarctica, South Georgia & Falkland
Departure: From December 15, 2024
All-Star Amenities: Two custom-built submarines, 24-person expedition team

Setting sail in August, the 264-passenger, 132 seafront-suite-only Seabourn Pursuit is the newest ship to join the Seabourn fleet. With an elegant design that reads yacht-like, Pursuit includes several fine dining options and formal supper nights, as well as complimentary caviar and Champagne on-demand, for a true luxury cruise experience. The crowd is well-traveled and skews older; you won’t find many late-night revelers here, in part because the ship doesn’t offer any onboard youth programming (although children are still welcome). That said, the ship does include entertainment that’s worth experiencing—singers, pianists and more.

White-gloved butlers and complimentary caviar are just a few elements that make Silversea’s Silver Ray perfect for a stress-free getaway.

Recommended Itinerary: 8-Day Cartagena to Lima
Departure: From December 27, 2024
All-Star Amenities: The onboard dining scene, specifically S.A.L.T. Kitchen, La Dame and Kaiseki

The second in Silversea’s Nova class ships sets sail this summer when the 728-guest Silver Ray makes a splash in the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic to winter in warmer climates. Mirroring her sister ship, Silver Dawn , she boasts the same level of service you expect from Silversea. White-gloved butlers, suite-only accommodations, complimentary caviar and Roman baths are just a few of the elements that make Silversea’s Silver Ray perfect for a stress-free getaway for couples in need of pampering. Beyond the ship, Silver Ray’s itineraries immerse her guests in authentic experiences that showcase the beauty in the world. Passengers tend to be in the 55-and-over age range and you won’t find many children onboard, which for couples, might just be what the doctor ordered.

Owner's Suite on MSC World Europa

MSC World Europa

Recommended Itinerary: 7-Night Western Mediterranean
Departure: From July 1, 2024

Plus, it boasts the tallest dry slide at sea in the world—a must-do for families. There’s also a Family Zone that caters to every age range, from infants to teenagers, with dedicated sections per group.

Best Yacht-Like Luxury Cruise: Four Seasons, Four Seasons Explorer

The exquisite 128-foot luxury catamaran set sail in Palau in late-2023 and provides her guests an experience that’s out of this world.

Four Seasons Explorer

Recommended Itinerary: 6-Day King George Island
Departure: From November 27, 2024
All-Star Amenities: Speedboat transfer, PADI 5-star dive center, international dining

In addition to the attentive service onboard, everyone can dive into the clear Micronesian waters to visit the undersea world that’s filled with manta rays, sharks, orcas and, of course myriad fish. Back onboard, relax in the lounge, library, or sundeck, and enjoy indoor and outdoor dining while enjoying all the special touches for which Four Seasons is known, including checking in and out on your schedule.

Sylvia Earle Suite on the Sylvia Earle

Sylvia Earle

Recommended Itinerary: 14-Day Antarctic Explorer featuring the Chilean Fjords
Departure: From March 1, 2025
All-Star Amenities: The availability of so many amenities—restaurants, bars, hot tubs—that aren’t as typical on expedition cruises

Sailing on Aurora Expedition’s Sylvia Earle is nothing short of an adventure. Founded about 30 years ago by climber Greg Mortimer and inspired by the female marine biologist after whom it’s named, the 132-passenger Sylvia Earle has exploration ingrained in its DNA. It’s no surprise, then, that the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and eager with an up-for-anything attitude (remote seas, some of the world’s highest peaks, you name it). Plus, the onboard amenities rival any luxury cruise—a rarity on expedition ships.

Owner's Suite Living Room on Star Pride

Recommended Itinerary: 10-Day Comprehensive Iceland Cruise Tour
Departure: From August 20, 2024
All-Star Amenities: Join the yacht’s culinary team to shop provisions for meal service at local markets

A 312-passenger, all-suite vessel, Star Pride feels large enough for small groups where they won’t feel too-close-for-comfort and can have their own privacy, but intimate enough where they can welcome outside connections. And thanks to its size, it’s able to access less-traveled routes and ports that make for an even more memorable experience to enjoy among a group. Plus, there are plenty of dining options (five restaurants including a top-notch Spanish tapas concept that’s a must-try) to enjoy as a group or split up on different evenings.

From sailing past icebergs and rugged mountains to spotting whales, there is plenty to keep you busy throughout the duration of the cruise.

Recommended Itinerary: 15-Day Wilderness from Greenland to the East Coast of Canada
Departure: From August 25, 2024
All-Star Amenities: Single supplement waived on more than 100 voyages; spa with hammam; fine dining

Solo travel is becoming more popular amongst travelers, so it’s nice when you find a luxury cruise line that welcomes independent cruisers by waiving the single supplement. French cruise line Ponant does just that on more than 100 of its voyages, including the brand new 15-day Wilderness from Greenland to the East Coast of Canada itinerary. From sailing past icebergs and rugged mountains to spotting whales, polar bears and muskox, and excursions along the way, there is plenty to keep you busy throughout the duration of the cruise.

Time aboard Le Lyrial is filled with guest lectures, fine dining in two onboard restaurants and exceptional, personalized service. With just 122 staterooms and suites and 244 guests, and plenty of space for everyone, the ship never feels overcrowded. After days of exploration, retreat to the spa for complimentary access to the hammam and a full menu of services in partnership with SOTHYS Paris, including massages and facials.

Best Luxury Cruise For Book Lovers: Avalon Waterways, Avalon Artistry II

Onboard, enjoy wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows that convert Panoramic Suites’ living spaces into open-air balconies.

At press time, cruise fares for the “Formula 1 Spotlight Voyage” started at $8,449 per person, double occupancy. If interested in this motorsport-themed cruise, talk with a  Pavlus Travel personal travel planner right away, as this Formula 1 cruise will likely sell out quickly.

Good to know? Regent Seven Seas offers a choice of up to 101 included shore excursions. That said, some shoreside experiences will carry an additional cost and have limited capacity.

Motor-Racing Themed Land Programs

But there’s more! Regent Seven Seas has curated new pre- and post-cruise land programs that are motor-racing themed. Guests can e xplore famous racetracks and view exceptional private car collections.

Important Note to Readers : At press time, the cruise line had not yet revealed prices or other details for these land programs. So, we’ll lay out below what we know about the pre- or post-cruise packages. But check with a personal travel planner about getting updates for this voyage and the motorsport-related land programs.

Pre-Cruise in Barcelona

Guests might opt for the three-night pre-cruise journey in Barcelona. First, they’ll set out on a walking tour, followed by a delectable dinner at a traditional Catalan eatery.

Then, they can “rev up” their excitement with a thrilling drive at Montjuic Historical Street F1 Racetrack . That’s complemented by a scenic helicopter tour.

Guests will also indulge in a sumptuous lunch paired with Catalan wines and discover iconic landmarks. This pre-cruise adventure will conclude with a memorable dinner before guests board the ship the following day.

Post-Cruise in Bologna, Italy (from Rome)

How about a four-night journey through the heart of Italian automotive excellence? After traveling from Rome via Bologna, travelers will explore the legacy of Enzo Ferrari at the museum in Modena. Then guests will also visit the iconic Imola Racetrack.

That’s followed by vineyard tastings and visits to Lamborghini and vintage mechanic shops. The land program will conclude with a farewell dinner after a day of Pagani and Ferrari experiences.

Post-Cruise Highlight! Aston Martin Aramco Race Weekend

One incredible motor racing post-cruise option for the Formula 1 Cruise is Regent Seven Seas’ four-night Aston Martin Aramco Race Weekend Experience ” in Hungary.

“Guests will take a flight from Rome to Budapest to enjoy all the action,” says Shelby Steudle , president, Pavlus Travel . It’s expected to be a fabulous way for fans to end their Formula 1 cruise with a hotel stay and much more.

Parting Thoughts

Again, Regent Seven Seas says that full details and pricing of the three above land programs will be confirmed at a later date. But for more information on the Formula 1 cruise itself, check out this Regent Seven Seas’ website page.

Prefer a different type of ultra-luxury cruise? Regent Seven Seas has great promotional deals on select Exotic Collection cruises for bookings made by June 30, 2024.

So, call your personal travel planner to discuss your vacation dreams, whatever those entail. If they center on Formula 1, though, do it sooner rather than later (given what’s expected to be strong demand for the newly announced racing-themed voyage).

VRrroooooom! Racing fans get ready to hit the Formula 1 circuit!

The 12 Best All-Inclusive Cruises for 2024

When it comes to all-inclusive cruises, there are a few different options:

  • Luxury cruise lines: All-inclusive cruise rates are available on luxury lines like Regent Seven Seas and Silversea. While more expensive than traditional cruise rates , the fares cover nearly everything, including door-to-door transfers, luxurious suite accommodations, specialty dining , premium alcoholic beverages and excursions. Plus, you don't need to show your cruise card every time you order a latte or a pre-dinner cocktail. You'll disembark the ship with very few, if any, additional charges on your final bill.
  • Cruise lines with inclusive pricing: Alternatively, you can consider an upscale cruise line like Viking, which offers fares with more-inclusive pricing and some of the amenities found on board the fully inclusive lines. However, you'll still have to budget for a few expenses, such as immersive excursions and alcoholic beverages beyond wine or beer at lunch and dinner.
  • Packages and add-ons: Other cruise lines like Oceania, Windstar and Norwegian offer add-on drink packages and other promos so you can create a more all-inclusive experience.

After comparing the costs between a truly all-inclusive cruise and a sailing with package pricing for the extras, the total price may be closer than you think.

More-Inclusive Cruises

Cruise fares with these lines include many of the amenities and perks that you'll find with the all-inclusive cruises. However, you'll still need to budget for some expenses, such as alcoholic beverages, excursions and specialty dining, depending on the line.

Viking's ocean fleet of nine 930-passenger all-veranda ships offers a nearly all-inclusive experience for guests. The upscale Scandinavian-inspired ships feature king-bed staterooms and suites with many amenities, including luxurious linens and plush robes, 24-hour room service, and free Wi-Fi – plus an in-room minibar with soft drinks, water and snacks. Higher-category staterooms on Viking Ocean Cruises come with additional perks like priority dinner and spa reservations, early stateroom access, and a welcome bottle of Champagne.

Select excursions, pre- or post-dinner cocktails, spa treatments, special bottles of wine, and other optional purchases come at an additional expense.

Azamara's four upscale boutique ships carry a maximum of 702 guests and offer immersive experiences around the world, calling on many smaller, lesser-known ports. The line also boasts more than 380 overnights and 850 late nights in port, so guests can have dinner in town and experience more of the destination's local culture and cuisine.

Azamara's cruise fares include all meals (other than the specialty dining restaurants) with water, tea and coffee. A selection of complimentary wine, sparkling wine, beer and spirits is available throughout the voyage. Cultural evenings ashore or on board the ship and gratuities are also included in the basic cruise fare.

If you'd like to enhance your onboard experience, Azamara offers inclusive "Experience More" packages that are discounted and based on the length of the voyage.

For example, on a seven-day or shorter sailing, solo travelers can add a package for $799 that's valued at $1,114 (a savings of 28%). Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity offers special rates and packages throughout the year that save money over a la carte pricing – and elevate your onboard experience to be more inclusive. You'll be able to access the best deal on the added perks if you book the upgraded package before you sail, saving up to 40 to 50 percent of the actual cost.

The line's "All-Included" package bundles the most popular add-ons for cruisers: a standard beverage package for alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, unlimited basic Wi-Fi, and gratuities for the staff and crew. Pricing depends on the stateroom or suite category and sailing.

There are other options when booking a cruise with Celebrity to create a more upscale and all-inclusive experience. Guests staying in all-suite The Retreat have exclusive access to a sundeck (on select ships), a lounge and Luminae – a private restaurant that features Global Culinary Ambassador Daniel Boulud at the helm. Guests of The Retreat booking the "All-Included" package receive a premium beverage package, premium unlimited Wi-Fi, gratuities and an onboard credit.

If you book AquaClass accommodations, you'll also have access to complimentary amenities and perks, such as unlimited access to the SEA Thermal Suite, discounts on spa treatment packages and complimentary fitness classes. In addition, you'll also find a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival (by request) and two bottles of water refreshed daily in your room. AquaClass guests also have exclusive access to the restaurant Blu. You can add the "All-Included" package to your booking, which will include the Classic Drinks Package, basic Wi-Fi and gratuities.

Passengers who want to book this "All-Included" package and are sharing a stateroom or suite will need to book the same package.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team announced the next phase of their exclusive partnership, the new Spotlight Voyage sailing the Mediterranean in Summer 2025, according to a press release.

The Spotlight Voyage, hosted by former Formula 1 driver Pedro de la Rosa and members of Aston Martin Aramco including engineers and executives, will be onboard the Seven Seas Splendor’s July 22, 2025, 10-night sailing.

Representatives from Aston Martin will also participate in the exclusive journey through workshops around innovation and design.
