In the realm of cruiser bikes, where the allure of the open road meets laid-back riding and classic styling, two models stand out: the TVS Ronin and the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise . These bikes embody the essence of the cruiser lifestyle, offering a unique blend of modern features and nostalgic charm. This comparative review aims to delve into the nuances that set these models apart, providing insights to help potential buyers make an informed decision based on their preferences and priorities.

Bikes Overview

The TVS Ronin, launched in 2022, marks TVS Motor Company’s entry into the cruiser segment. With its distinctive design, blending elements of a cruiser and a scrambler, the Ronin offers a fresh take on the traditional cruiser aesthetic. The bike’s modern features, such as the LED lighting and the digital instrument cluster, set it apart from its competitors.

On the other hand, the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise has been a popular choice among cruiser enthusiasts since its introduction. The bike’s classic styling, with its low-slung stance and chrome accents, pays homage to the iconic American cruisers. The Avenger 220 Cruise has undergone updates over the years, refining its engine and features while maintaining its core character.

Styling and Visual Appeal Comparison

When it comes to styling, the TVS Ronin and the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise take different approaches to the cruiser aesthetic. The Ronin’s design is a departure from the traditional cruiser look, with its scrambler-inspired elements like the upswept exhaust and the dual-purpose tires. The bike’s LED headlight, muscular fuel tank, and clean lines give it a modern and aggressive stance.

The Avenger 220 Cruise, on the other hand, stays true to the classic cruiser design language. The bike features a long, low-slung profile, with a wide handlebar and forward-set footpegs. The chrome accents on the exhaust, mirrors, and headlight add a touch of nostalgia. The Avenger’s styling is reminiscent of the iconic American cruisers, making it appealing to riders who appreciate a more traditional look.

Engine and Performance Comparison

The TVS Ronin is powered by a 225.9cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that delivers a peak power of 20.4 PS at 7750 rpm and a maximum torque of 19.93 Nm at 3750 rpm. The engine features a 4-valve, SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) configuration and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

The Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise employs a 220cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine with Bajaj’s DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark Ignition) technology. The engine produces a peak power of 19.03 PS at 8500 rpm and a maximum torque of 17.55 Nm at 7000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Both bikes offer a smooth and responsive riding experience, with the Ronin having a slight edge in terms of peak power and torque figures.

Comfort and Ergonomics Comparison

The TVS Ronin offers a comfortable and upright riding position, with a saddle height of 795 mm. The bike’s single-piece seat provides ample cushioning and support for both the rider and the pillion. The Ronin’s suspension setup, with 41 mm USD (Upside Down) forks at the front and a mono-shock with 7-step adjustable preload at the rear, ensures a plush ride quality.

TVS Ronin vs Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise: A Comprehensive Comparison of Cruiser Bikes

The Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise, with its low saddle height of 737 mm, offers easy access for riders of different heights. The bike’s single seat is wide and well-padded, providing comfort during long rides. The Avenger’s suspension, with telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers with 5-step adjustability at the rear, offers a smooth and composed ride.

Both bikes prioritize rider comfort, but the Ronin’s slightly taller saddle height and more advanced suspension setup may appeal to riders who prefer a more engaging riding experience.

Ride Quality and Handling Comparison

The TVS Ronin’s shorter wheelbase of 1357 mm and higher ground clearance of 181 mm contribute to its agile handling and maneuverability. The bike’s 17-inch alloy wheels, shod with tubeless tires, provide good grip and stability on various road conditions. The Ronin is available with both single-channel and dual-channel ABS options, ensuring confident braking performance.

The Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise has a longer wheelbase of 1490 mm, which enhances its straight-line stability and provides a more planted feel on the highway. The bike’s ground clearance of 169 mm is adequate for navigating through most road conditions. The Avenger comes equipped with a single-channel ABS, offering enhanced safety during braking.

Both bikes offer a comfortable and confident ride quality, with the Ronin being more nimble in city traffic and the Avenger providing better stability on long stretches.

Customization and Aftermarket Support Comparison

The TVS Ronin, being a relatively new model, has a growing aftermarket support. Owners can find a range of accessories and customization options, such as crash guards, saddlebags, and seat covers, to personalize their Ronin according to their preferences. TVS also offers a selection of official accessories to enhance the bike’s functionality and style.

TVS Ronin vs Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise: A Comprehensive Comparison of Cruiser Bikes

The Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise, with its longer presence in the market, has a more extensive aftermarket ecosystem. Riders can choose from a wide array of accessories, including windshields, backrests, and chrome add-ons, to give their Avenger a unique look. Bajaj’s own accessory range provides further options for customization.

Both bikes offer scope for personalization, allowing riders to express their individuality and tailor their rides to their specific needs.

Weekend Getaway Suitability

When it comes to weekend getaways, both the TVS Ronin and the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise are well-suited for the task. The Ronin’s fuel tank capacity of 14 liters, combined with its impressive fuel efficiency of 42.95 kmpl in the city and 40.77 kmpl on the highway, ensures a good range for long rides.

The Avenger 220 Cruise has a slightly smaller fuel tank capacity of 13 liters, which is still sufficient for weekend trips. While the exact mileage figures for the Avenger are not provided, its fuel-efficient engine ensures a decent range for leisurely rides.

Both bikes offer a comfortable and relaxed riding position, making them ideal for long hours in the saddle. The Ronin’s upright stance and the Avenger’s laid-back posture cater to different riding styles, but both prioritize rider comfort during extended journeys.

Value and Ownership Comparison

When it comes to value and ownership, both the TVS Ronin and the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise offer compelling propositions. The Ronin has a price range of Rs. 1,49,200 to Rs. 1,72,700, with four variants to choose from. The bike’s modern features, fuel efficiency, and unique styling justify its price point, making it an attractive option for riders seeking a fresh take on the cruiser segment.

The Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise is available in a single variant, priced at Rs. 1,44,346. The bike’s affordable pricing, coupled with its classic styling and proven reliability, makes it a value-for-money choice for budget-conscious buyers. The Avenger’s low cost of ownership and Bajaj’s extensive service network further add to its appeal.

TVS Ronin vs Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise: A Comprehensive Comparison of Cruiser Bikes

The choice between the two bikes ultimately depends on the buyer’s budget, preference for modern features, and the desired level of customization. The Ronin offers more versatility and a distinct style, while the Avenger provides a more traditional cruiser experience at a lower price point.

The TVS Ronin and the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise are two compelling options in the cruiser bike segment, each with its own strengths and character. The Ronin’s modern design, feature-packed offering, and agile handling make it an attractive choice for riders who want a cruiser with a twist. Its comfortable ergonomics, fuel efficiency, and scope for customization further enhance its appeal.

On the other hand, the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise remains true to the classic cruiser formula, with its timeless styling, relaxed riding position, and affordability. Its simplicity, reliability, and low cost of ownership make it a favorite among cruiser purists and value-seekers.

Ultimately, the choice between the TVS Ronin and the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise boils down to personal preferences and priorities. Riders who prioritize modern features, distinct styling, and a more engaging ride may gravitate towards the Ronin. Those who value the authentic cruiser experience, affordability, and a more laid-back riding style may find the Avenger more appealing.

Regardless of the choice, both the TVS Ronin and the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise offer a satisfying and enjoyable cruiser experience, allowing riders to embrace the freedom of the open road and the joy of cruising in their own unique way.

2021 Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 review, test ride

The bigger Avenger 220 Cruise is the one that stays true to the brand’s tag line, but has its own little flaws.

2021 Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 review, test ride

Unlike the Avenger Street 160 that debuted only in 2019, the Cruise 220 has been around for a while. Sitting at the top of the Avenger line-up, the Cruise differs from the Street in some functional aspects that make a world of a difference.

FEEL LIKE GOD

It’s a pretty bold tag line, but this Avenger Cruise 220 does make an impressive attempt at living up to it. For someone looking for a proper taste of what a cruiser has to offer, there isn’t an entry-level motorcycle that does it as well as the Cruise 220. The Cruise model is characterised by its wire-spoke wheels, generous amounts of chrome and long, low stance. The ergonomics, as well, are in line with what you’d expect from a cruiser – your feet are set forward, and a wide, swept-back handlebar enables you to manoeuvre the bike with very little effort. My only issue with this setup is that the handlebars will make contact with your knees while making sharp U-turns, or while filtering through traffic at slow speeds.

bajaj avenger cruise 220 competitors

Just like with the Street, the Cruise also gets a tank-mounted secondary console with some tell-tale lights, but the fuel gauge is part of the primary handlebar-mounted fully digital unit. A tall, non-adjustable windscreen is part of the package as well, but I found that it does more harm than good for my 6-foot frame. A shorter rider will likely face less wind buffeting.

CRUISE CONTROL

Just like the Street 160, the Cruise 220 also gets an engine that first debuted on a Pulsar, but has a reduction in power here. This 220cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine is capable of peak output figures of 19.03hp at 8,500rpm and 17.55Nm at 7,000rpm. In application, this engine is notably calmer than the unit on the smaller Avenger and feels much more adept at maintaining highway speeds without too much stress. Performance is, unsurprisingly, better as well, and by a fair margin. The Cruise 220 gets to a 100kph nearly 10sec quicker than the Street 160.

The Cruise 220 costs about Rs 23,000 more than Street 160, at Rs 1.27 lakh. It’s a fair margin between the two, but if you’re looking for more performance, the ability to take your bike out on long highway rides, and the visual appeal of a cruiser, it’s a stretch you should consider making.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Street Is Coming Back - Here Are The Quick Details

Bajaj Avenger 220 Review

Detailed review by maxabout team.

The Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 has established itself as one of India's most reasonably priced cruiser motorcycles. One of the most distinguishing features of the Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 is its comfortable seating posture and powerful yet reliable engine, which is backed up by Bajaj's extensive service network. Bajaj recently updated the Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 with a BS6 avatar to comply with India's strict emission norms. Except for mechanical upgrades, the BS6 version of the Avenger Cruise 220 has brought some significant changes to the cruiser bike.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise Design and Style

2024 Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220's styling is inspired by large cruisers such as Harley Davidson. It has a vintage Cruiser vibe to it and has a symmetrical body. Its large windscreen is appealing and because of its telescopic fork at break angle, it has a cruiser appearance. The radiator, horn, exhaust, front and rear turn signals, mirror, and area near the pillion seat all have a lot of chrome on this Avenger Cruise 220. It's so shiny in the sunlight because it's made of so much chrome. The fuel tank contributes to the cruiser look; the way it flares out forms a teardrop shape, and it is topped with a large chrome piece that includes a tell-tale light, a fuel filler cap, and a minimalistic instrument cluster that is fully digitally situated above the chrome piece. It has a single-piece long seat with a backrest for the pillion seat, which is comfortable and adequate.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise Engine and Gearbox

2024 Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220's engine is comparable to that of the well-known Pulsar 220F. The Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 is powered by a 220cc DTS-i engine with fuel injection that produces 19.03 HP at 8500 rpm and 17.55 Nm at 7000 rpm. The Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220's BS6-compliant engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox, which is the same old five-speed unit gearbox. It travels in a straight line with ease, but it does not lean quickly or change directions smoothly.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise Suspension, Brakes and Tyres

The tubular double-cradle frame supports the new Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220. It has telescopic forks with double anti-friction brushes at the front and hydraulic type 5-step adjustable twin shock-absorbers at the rear for suspension duties. The Cruise 220 has a single-channel ABS system with a 280mm disc in front and a 130mm drum in the back. The travel of the rear suspension has been increased by 12% for 2018, resulting in better ride quality on Indian roads. The 17-inch front and 15-inch rear spoke wheels are fitted with 90-section and 130-section tyres, respectively.

Instrument Console of Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise

The instrument cluster is a fully digital unit that displays the speedometer, odometer, trip metre, and a slew of other useful data. The Avenger Cruise 220 lacks a few features for a motorcycle that looks as poised as this one. The primary instrument cluster is circular and fully digital, and it contains a wealth of data that allows the rider to make informed decisions while on the road or at a stop. The lack of a tachometer makes it impossible for the rider to determine which RPM he or she is currently at, which is inconvenient. There is also a secondary display panel with warning lights (indicators, high beam, neutral, ABS, and low battery warning). However, its functionality is jeopardised due to its disorganised placement on the fuel tank.

Key Features of Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise

2024 Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise is designed in the same manner as the other members of the Avenger bike family. Because this is the Cruise model, it has a large windshield, a lot of chrome, and spoke rims. Unlike the Avenger 160, the Avenger 220 Cruise has a fully digital instrument cluster with an odometer, trip metre, clock, fuel gauge, and service due reminder. There are a few telltale lights on the tank's panel. Even though it has LED DRLs, the headlight is still a bulb unit. However, the included braking mechanism works well and gives the rider confidence. For improved stability and control, there are front disc brakes with single-channel ABS, anti-friction tubeless tyres, and a wide rear radial tubeless tyre.

Top Speed and Mileage of Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise

2024 Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise has a top speed of 120 km/h and a mileage of 40 km/l. In terms of performance, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h within 5 seconds approximately and 0 to 100 within 13 seconds approximately.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise Colour Options

Bajaj offers the new Avenger 220 Cruise Bike in 2 different colours namely Moon White and Auburn Black.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise Competitors

The Top competitors for Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 are Royal Enfield Bullet 350, Bajaj Avenger Street 160, JAWA Forty Two, Kawasaki Z650 RS, BMW R NineT Scrambler, Benelli Imperiale 400, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Honda Hness CB350, and JAWA Perak.

2024 Avenger Cruise 220 is the ideal motorcycle for a daily city commuter who enjoys getting out on the highway on the weekends. In the city, however, this motorcycle is not the easiest to manoeuvre in tight spaces, but the comfort it provides more than compensates. The Avenger Cruise 220 is also a capable family motorcycle with excellent pillion comfort. The low cost of service and ease of maintenance add to the appeal of purchasing this motorcycle. This motorcycle's generously slathered chrome and impressive fit and finish give it a premium look that's sure to draw attention wherever you go.

Totally Actual Review About Best Cruiser Bike Under 1 Lac Budget

Version Reviewed - Avenger street 150 Purchased As - Brand new (01-01-2016) Distance Covered - 5538 Km till date (26-28-2016) Fuel Economy - 50 kmpl (Totally run in city traffic) Good - Looks, performance, handling, comfort, safety. Bad - No rear disc brake. No kick. I purchased my brand new avenger 150 street in 1st jan 2016 and till date I already clocked It around 5500 km done total running in Kanpur city Only. Exterior Aggressive front look and cool side look although rear tyre is small but decent could use a day light running lamp. Engine Performance: 14 PS power is good you can feel it when you accelerate it easily takes pick up (Not great as Apache, Gixxer) but even after you have reached triple speed figure effortless easy to drive in traffic and fun to cruise on highway. I tested the top speed of my avenger 150 twice on highway. at first it clock 112 km/hr and after second service it clocks at 115 km/hr. Fuel Economy: This is the best feature of this bike. and the only reason to submit my review also. before 1st service I got an average of around 35 kmpl in city. after 1st service mileage increased to 40-45 kmpl. But after 2nd service it reached to 55 kmpl in the hard city traffic. Guys believe me currently it giving me a healthy 55 kmpl mileage in a tight city traffic. I also tested mileage 3 times after 2nd service from reserve to reserve I take 100 rs fuel each time and my bike covered 78km, 81km, 80km on the three testing while the price of petrol in Kanpur is 65 Rs/ltr. Ride Quality & Handling: Ride Quality is very good you don't get tired even after long city driving. Handling is very good very reactive and cornering can be done with confidence. only the turning radius is too large compare to other. it creates some problem in city traffic. Final Words: Overall a very very good package for a fair price deal under the 1 lac segment.

Best Features: Look, comfort, mileage, uniqueness

Pros: Looks, ride comfort, mileage

Cons: No disc brake in rear wheel, no kick, no storage

Solid & Hardcore

I bought the Avenger 150 model last week. The bike as a whole is absolutely fantastic. I found the short pick-up to be a bit less, but that's not what you are looking for in this bike, & in no way that is a disadvantage. Comfort level, top notch .. balance, top notch. Also, the problem with a big turning radius owing to much wider handle-bar for the Cruise model has been largely taken care of in the Street models. In short, if you want to go for speed, you have the Pulsars .. for everything else, you have the Avengers.

Best Features: Suspension, comparatively lighter chassis, back wheel-base.

Pros: Power, comfort, balance.

Cons: Absence of kick.

Totally very good. But only colour where I disappointed. Bike has amazing seat comfort and looks. While riding the bike really I feel like king.

Best Features: Seating Position

Pros: Amazing Looks

  • A leaked photo of the Bajaj Avenger Cruiser 220 shows that a new wine red colour is also in the works and will probably be introduced later, following the addition of the desert gold colour.

Introduction of Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220

The Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 is a member of the Avengers family. To meet the most current emission standards, Bajaj Auto redesigned their flagship cruiser motorcycle, the Avenger Cruise 220. With a low-slung saddle, a rear-swept handlebar, a windscreen up front, and an extended chassis, the Avenger Cruise 220 BS6 maintains the classic cruiser bike look.

Moon white and auburn black are just a few of the stunning colours offered by the Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 BS6. The bike’s comfortable riding position is one of its most distinctive features. The engine gearbox combination is fantastic, and the fuel efficiency is unmatched.

The Bajaj model has also received praise for its beauty and vibrancy. This bike is popular because it has tube tyres and disc brakes.

The journey itself is more rewarding than the final destination on an Avenger! With its rounded edges and chrome accents, this vintage cruiser honours the time when riding was simple.

Avenger Cruise 220 has excellent performance, a charming appearance, and outstanding mileage, making it a good bike to invest in.

What’s new in the Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220

With some cosmetic changes, the bike has a massive amount of chrome.

The Avenger Cruise 220’s BS6 update only involves technical improvements. The Avenger Cruise 220 BS6 maintains a traditional cruiser bike design with a low-slung saddle, rear-swept handlebar, a windshield at the front, and a long chassis. On the contrary, the stylistic cues haven’t yet changed.

The wire-spoke tires, chrome finish on specific segments, and 3D branding give the whole thing a luxury feel.

A 280mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum brake provide gripping force. Solitary ABS is part of the motorcycle’s safety net, and its sturdy, hefty, and classic design are factors that draw customers to it. So if you’re seeking a motorbike like that, this is for you.

Highlights of Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220

Design of bajaj avenger cruise 220.

The styling of the Avenger Cruise 220 BS6 continues to feature a typical cruiser motorcycle design with a low-slung saddle, rear-swept handlebar, a windscreen at the front and a long wheelbase. The massive amount of chrome on the motorcycle makes it eye-catching; however, this chrome may be an overdose for some riders.

A telescopic front has double anti-friction brush suspensions with 90/90 R17 front tyre and 5-step adjustable twin shock absorber suspensions with the rear tyre. It came with a tubular double cradle type frame and spoke wheels.

The bike is a classic cruiser with smooth curves and chrome higlighights, thus making it stand out in the crowd.

The low-slung and wider seat accompanied by upright handlebars provide a laid-back riding position to the rider. The cushioned backrest offers a comfortable ride on the highway to both the rider and the pillion.
