For most newlyweds, the honeymoon is the trip of a lifetime. While you may end up taking longer or more far-flung vacations down the road (maybe with your growing family) this first post-wedding getaway—no matter how long it is or how close to home—is an experience unlike any other. It allows you the time to embrace your brand-new marriage, with all the planning and stress of the big day behind you. It also sets the tone for the epic adventures you’ll have in your future. And most importantly, it provides memories that you'll cherish for the rest of your lives.

To help couples make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime trip, we’ve rounded up the top honeymoon destinations of 2024. Whether you’re lie-on-a-beach-with-a-coconut people, adventure-chasers, snow bunnies , or foodies on the hunt for many meals to remember, there is something on this list for everyone. Sure, classic honeymoon destinations like Hawaii , Fiji , and Italy make the cut, but we've also included of some more unexpected destinations, like South Africa and Montana .

Here, find this year's list of the 51 best honeymoon destinations around the world.

Turks and Caicos

Courtesy of COMO Parrot Cay

Southeast of the Bahamas in the Atlantic Ocean lies Turks and Caicos, not two islands as might be assumed, but a whopping 40. The coral islands (the most popular of which is Providenciales) are the epitome of a tropical escape, with fewer people than many neighboring island nations to keep the countless stark-white beaches free of crowds.

Book your trip at COMO Parrot Cay , a five-star resort on a private island with world-class amenities and awe-inspiring views of the crystal-clear waters. For the ultimate escape, infused with relaxation and luxury, reserve a one-bedroom beach house steps away from the ocean, complete with a heated private pool, an expansive sundeck, and chic furnishings. Here, you can also engage in numerous wellness-focused activities, such as meditation and fitness classes. Another option is the uber-private Amanyara , an exclusive luxury resort perched along the coast of an 18,000-acre nature reserve. You'll be greeted by private infinity pools, ocean-facing villas, a wellness program that could fill at least a week, impeccable service around the clock, and unforgettable meals.

Taormina, Sicily

Federico Scotto / Getty Images

In Sicily , you can experience island and Italian vibes—truly the best of both worlds. Hanging right off the toe of Italy’s boot, Sicily straddles the divide between Europe and Africa and is the largest isle in the Mediterranean. Appropriately, the out-of-this-world food isn’t the only thing that’s diverse—there’s architecture, art, and ancient ruins to be explored. Post up in Taormina; we recommend literally any room at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace , where White Lotus Season 2 was filmed. Use this luxurious escape as your home away from home as you explore this legendary pocket of the Mediterranean, an ideal honeymoon destination. Don’t miss a day trip to Noto, a charming Baroque UNESCO World Heritage site also featured on the show.

Dominican Republic

Courtesy of Eden Roc Cap Cana

The Dominican Republic promises paradise—1,000 miles of coastline and all—just two hours south of Miami. The second largest Caribbean country, the island is known for its world-class beaches and romantic resorts, so it's no wonder that it's one of the top honeymoon destinations in the world. You just can't beat the proximity to the continental United States, the clear blue ocean waters (the Atlantic Ocean on the north end and the Caribbean Sea on the south), and next-level sunsets.

As for the best time to go? Book your first-married trip between November and April to take advantage of consistently good weather and avoid the rainy season—and when you do make the trip, make sure to stay at Eden Roc Cap Cana . With just a quick jaunt from the local airport, you'll have unlocked your own personal oasis. Stay in one of the secluded, ocean-front bungalows (which come with private pools and golf carts), dine in one (or all!) of the property's award-winning restaurants (the salt-baked fish at La Palapa shouldn't be missed), and play a round of golf on the resort's 18-hole golf course, which hugs the shoreline. Though returning from your honeymoon is a challenge no matter what, this property makes it all but impossible to leave.

Greenough, Montana

Stuart Thurlkill

While many couples may opt for a full-on ranch-style honeymoon in Montana, we recommend booking accommodations at The Green O , an adults-only, all-inclusive, high-design hideaway owned and operated by The Resort at Paws Up . Located conveniently just down the road from Paws Up, guests at The Green O have access to all the outdoor activities (think horseback riding, paddling, sound baths, and guided fly-fishing) on the staggering 37,000-acre swath of land. It’s like having your own national park to explore! But this cozy upscale property is also the best of both worlds: You and your spouse can snuggle up in one of the 12 intimate, design-forward "hauses” on property. They feature floor-to-ceiling windows, modern fireplaces, and serene soaking tubs in Scandi-chic accommodations.

A sure highlight is dinner at the Social Haus, where foodies can relish the nightly eight-course meal by a James Beard-nominated chef. Whether you're at the Green O for five days or two weeks, there will be no shortage of things to do in all four seasons—plus, top-tier dining experiences and romantic relaxation indoors and out. Pro tip: Don’t miss the tented Spa Town, just a quick jaunt via the private, complimentary Lexus vehicle provided for each couple. From start to finish, this honeymoon destination is a superb mix of adventure meets luxury.

You don’t have to be obsessed with Outlander or The Crown to think Scotland is a prime honeymoon destination. Start in the lowlands, with the diverse, walkable city of Edinburgh. As home bases go, a luxurious hotel like The Balmoral , with its Michelin-starred Number One restaurant, is pretty epic. Don’t miss the world’s first vertical distillery , a brand new offering in the Port of Leith. Then, head up to Loch Lommond, the largest body of water in Scotland, for a couple of nights at Cameron House . This five-star haunt is an old family lake home (er, palace?) and makes a perfect gateway to the highlands. Hit the Isle of Skye next for otherworldly views of land and sea. Dine at Loch Bay , another Michelin-starred spot, hike the Old Man of Storr route, and lay your head at the upscale Kinloch Lodge .

Pro tip: For an extra posh escape, use Brendan Vacations' Private Chaffeur option, which is the best way to enjoy Scotland’s gorgeous countryside and avoid driving on the wrong side of the road.

Natural beauty, sake, sushi, history, culture— Japan balances rich ancient heritage with the modern in its awe-inspiring cities and maintains a vast network of hikes and walks for those more inclined to nature. There’s skiing and shrines, cat cafes, and a stunning coastline. Tokyo is a city that lights up all the senses (consider the deluxe ryokan-style Hoshinoya Tokyo ), while Kyoto boasts more than a dozen UNESCO World Heritage Sites (plus the brand-new and breathtaking Aman Kyoto ). The country boasts a trending chain of tropical coral isles, too—Okinawa, where Hoshinoya Taketomi Island gives a peek into traditional Japanese island life, and the new resort Halekulani Okinawa celebrates authentic culture and nature immersions.

Mexico City, Mexico

Getty Images

The World Design Capital of 2018 speaks to aesthetes, art lovers, and couples for whom food is a big deal. Mexico’s capital city has only increased exponentially in appeal over the last few years as its foodie, nightlife, and gallery and museum scenes have all exploded. Strategizing (and scoring reservations) in advance is key to enjoying world-renowned restaurants like Pujol, Sud 777, and Merkavá. Top luxury hotel brands like St. Regis and Four Seasons have outposts that are glamorous and grand, and the beautifully boutiquey Las Alcobas also provides the perfect place to snuggle up after long days of indulgence.

Is there a more classic island honeymoon destination than Fiji ? It’s hard to imagine something better than hopping between five-star resorts on the South Pacific’s 300-plus islands, filled with white sand, palm trees, mountains, and blue lagoons. For a dose of heaven on earth, visit Tokoriki Island Resort Fiji , an adults-only retreat that epitomizes romance in this far-flung destination. Guests can feel right at home in the heart of this South Pacific paradise, nestled into one of 36 free-standing beachfront villas (complete with ocean-facing infinity pools), each with immaculate attention to Fijian design. Nightly champagne and fresh seafood, ample opportunity for romantic experiences (like dinner on the property's own jetty), and an award-winning immersive spa make for the honeymoon of a lifetime. More interested in diving, snorkeling, and an authentic taste of Fiji’s rich, hospitable culture? Head to remote Savusavu Island for a stay at Jean Michel Cousteau Resort .

Do you and your partner share an intense curiosity about the world? If so, a simple beach holiday won’t do. Think about exploring somewhere exotic like Morocco . In Marrakech, a Berber-era medieval walled city, you’ll dine on mouthwatering dishes, navigate the maze-like souks holding hands, watch storytellers and musicians perform, and feast your eyes on spectacular architecture and design. You can stay like kings at the palatial pink Amanjena , or go a bit more traditional in the beautiful city of Fes, at chic Riad Fes . Richard Branson’s Kasbah Tamadot is a gorgeous home base for hiking the Atlas Mountains, and Essaouira is the most charming seaside village with camels on the beach and plenty of twisting cobbled paths to explore.

The Amalfi Coast, Italy

There are many reasons the Amalfi Coast continues to be at the top of honeymooners’ bucket lists. It’s hard to picture a more classically romantic scene than Positano’s steep village streets, Moorish architecture, azure water, and colorful loungers and umbrellas lining the sandy beaches. Glamour comes easily, especially at the five-star Le Sirenuse , where the formula for a sexy, sophisticated getaway is tried and true. Italy’s “Divine Coast” lives up to its name as one of the world’s best classic, and divine, honeymoon destinations.

Courtesy of Asilia

An East Africa safari is surely a bucket list endeavor—and one of the world’s ultimate honeymoon destinations. Home to the world’s largest game reserve, honeymooners can see it all in Tanzania: the big five, cheetahs, giraffes, the Great Migration, and so much more. Do it right with multiple Asilia properties in one trip. Tackle the Serengheti two ways: first, with the all-female staffed Dunia Camp , and then spend the next few days at the luxurious Namiri Plains Camp . If you stay more than seven nights with Asilia, you earn free inter-camp travel, which is an incredible perk!

Courtesy of Bisate Lodge

If the adventure of a lifetime is your honeymoon goal, gorilla trekking in Rwanda—with overnights at a completely heavenly lodge—should be at the top of the list. Wildlife safaris are almost always life-changing, but seeing gorillas up close in their habitat is a whole different proposition. Bisate Lodge and Singita Kwitonda Lodge are right next to Volcanoes National Park’s ancient rainforest and offer pampering plus more active experiences than a newlywed duo could possibly take in. In Akagera National Park, Magashi Camp offers the chance to gaze at lion prides and black rhino. And in Kigali, The Retreat at Heaven is the place for resort-style digs and enlightening artisanal and cultural tours.

Paris, France

Talk about a no-brainer. Paris is the City of Lights, but it might as well be called the City of Love. If you appreciate a great romantic walk hand-in-hand, you’ll love the French capital, which offers culture, architecture and art alongside, of course, incredible food and wine. From iconic luxury stalwarts like the Four Seasons George V and Le Royal Monceau—Raffles Paris to impeccably designed new boutique hotels such as Hotel Providence Paris , you can tailor a honeymoon to your style, whether it’s classic and fancy or more boho and artsy. Extend your French honeymoon with some time in a quieter region. The alpine lakes and rich food scene of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alps region is a perfect addition to any Parisian honeymoon.

Bali, Indonesia

A honeymoon in Bali is pure magic. The Indonesian island—the only one in the huge country that’s Hindu—is a perfect place for passion. With a bit more of an exotic feel than the tropical islands closer to the US, Bali doesn’t only offer unspoiled beaches, surfing, snorkeling and massages, it’s full of culture, art, music, rice terraces and temples, many, many temples. Nature is celebrated here, and it’s easy to get into the spirit at unbelievably lush properties such as Four Seasons Bali at Sayan and Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve for jungle vibes, and Uluwatu Surf Villas or Mulia Villas for coastal bliss.

For an active honeymoon, Canada’s cool seaport of Vancouver and nearby Vancouver Island have a lot to offer. The destination's unique setting, surrounded by mountains and also water, makes it popular for a number of outdoor adventures, but it’s also known for its lively art and music scenes. Whatever you choose to spend your days doing—from the confines of the chic city-centric Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel or Tofino’s romantic, forested Wickaninnish Inn —the natural beauty can’t be topped.

If off-the-beaten-path is your couple style, this South Asian gem is the way to go. Sandwiched between India and China, it’s a magical country with its own identity and topography, although anyone who’s been to one of those spots knows natural beauty is a sure thing. The miniature kingdom in the Himalayas is epic for trekking and has retained quite a sense of culture thanks to its remoteness and subtle Western influence. Explore Buddhist monasteries, jaw-dropping panoramas, and fortresses as you make your way from one valley to the next.

Cape Cod and Nantucket, Massachusetts

If you're craving a coastal getaway but want to stay domestic, Cape Cod and Nantucket will most certainly fit the bill—and exceed all of your expectations. Spend a few nights cozied into the Chatham Bars Inn , a legendary property that boasts sumptuous, waterfront accommodations, an incredible spa, and multiple seafood-centric restaurants. After a week of exploring all the Cape has to offer (don't forget to take a day trip to Provincetown and post up for a day at Nauset Beach!) take the ferry 30 miles out to sea to Nantucket, arguably the chicest island in the U.S. Tuck into the five-star Wauwinet and spend your days biking around this 14-mile-long island, dining on the daily fresh catch, and strolling the cobblestone streets of historic downtown (replete with trendy restaurants, amazing sunset views, cute shops, and endless art galleries).

Buenos Aires, Argentina

If you venture to Argentina for your honeymoon, prepare to do the super sensual tango. The nightlife in the capital city is famously fabulous, and people come from all around the world to dance. Enjoy all the vibrant culture, local grill-focused cuisine and vivid, photogenic surroundings from a bicycle—bike lanes cover most of the city—or your temporary home in a sexy, well-designed place like Faena Hotel Buenos Aires or deluxe Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires .

South Africa

With the US dollar stronger than the South African rand, your dollars stretch a bit farther in this city at the southernmost point of Africa. Beautiful hotels and intimate guesthouses—some of the most epic include design-forward The Silo and resort-y One&Only Cape Town —provide impeccable service and serve as home base for exploring Cape Town’s gorgeous peaks and mountains, coastline, and wildlife, from penguins to baboons. Enjoy fantastic wine (hit La Residence in Franschhoek) and adrenaline-pumping adventure (cage diving with great whites!), to name just a few draws. Be sure to plan for a safari while in South Africa, too. The ultimate honeymoon splurge is a private villa (complete with your own butler and sommelier) at Cheetah Plains in the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve near Kruger National Park. Schedule an in-room massage and elevated multi-course wine pairing dinner to add a dose of romance to a traditional safari experience. Bonus: This carbon negative property is a sustainability leader, too, with super quiet EVs that let you get close to the animals without disturbing them.

Cartagena, Colombia

What is now Cartagena was colonized by Spain in the 16th century. Today it is a vacation destination on Colombia’s Caribbean coast with cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and live music at every turn. There’s romance all around, especially at night when it’s salsa time. Stay in one of the gentrifying port city’s best boutique hotels—lush Casa Lola or the beautifully restored Hotel Casa San Agustin —and make it a point to visit the surrounding islands. Casa San Agustin’s new ACASĪ Experience takes lovers on a private boat charter to paradisiacal Isla Barú for lunch on a white sand beach fringed by turquoise water and palms.

The appeal of Colorado is simple: It’s stunning in the winter, blanketed in super-romantic snow, and it’s stunning in the summer when the white stuff has melted and left behind verdant, bucolic scenes. Active types have no shortage of fun to get into, especially if basing themselves at Vail’s Hotel Talisa, a ski-in/ski-out property where the service is so great they’ll actually bring the chapstick you left in the room to the top of the mountain for you. In Breckenridge, you’ll find the sleek and social new ski-in/ski-out Gravity Haus , complete with a Japanese-style onsen. Meanwhile, Beaver Creek boasts the five-star mountaintop getaway Trappers Cabin , where honeymooners can hike, bike, and hot tub in style.

For a classic city break, stay at the posh Clayton Hotel & Members Club in Cherry Creek. It offers upscale accommodations, plus a walkable location in the heart of Denver’s cutest neighborhood. For a more old-school hotel pick, head south to the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. This grand dame hotel has a storied history, gorgeous rooms, a lovely spa, and multiple on-site eateries. Pro tip: Don’t sleep on the burgeoning wine scene on the Western Slope. Stay in Grand Junction at the Hotel Maverick , the perfect base for exploring nearby Paonia and Palisade, the two cutest “wine country” towns. Colorado offers so much as a honeymoon destination!

It may be a struggle to pronounce most of the words in Denmark’s capital, but that's half the fun. The gorgeous Scandinavian home of the Little Mermaid sculpture, grand castles, and tons of hyper-influential design is easily navigable and intimate. Beyond the city take day trips to hike in wooded Edens, and by night cuddle up at a top hotel like the iconic Hotel d’Angleterre with your one true love in hygge style, with an excess of candles, wine, sweets, and a fire roaring in the background.

The Pacific side of Costa Rica has everything for nature and adventure enthusiasts. Santa Teresa is a tiny beach town with plenty of surfing to mellow the vibe. There’s wildlife everywhere, the ocean is warm, the waves are perfect and the rainforest above the beach is home to creative kitchens and boutique hotels such as Florblanca Resort and Milarepa . Farther north, on Peninsula Papagayo, is Hyatt’s Andaz Costa Rica Resort , with a full slate of activities and a profusion of ways to get into the wild and connect with each other and nature. Up on a quartz mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean is The Retreat Costa Rica , a go-to for all things spa, healing, and organic gardens.

Whether you want to explore magical crystalline terraced lakes and waterfalls, check out historical sites and ruins, sail around on a yacht, tour cathedrals or even go wild partying, Croatia is the place to do it. The country that stretches down the Mediterranean offers a Greek Isle-like flavor but with its own unique culture and look. Superbly designed sea-view spots like Villa Dubrovnik are what this authentic, unspoiled destination is all about.

Cyclades, Greece

This group of islands in the Aegean Sea includes favorites like Santorini (where Grace Santorini is fresh off a gorgeous renovation) and Mykonos, home to the new swoon-worthy, entirely farm-to-table Nesaea restaurant. There are also important archaeological ruins, stunning sunset vistas, and up-and-coming islands like Paros and Folegrandos, where you can experience the beauty of your surroundings with fewer faces around. Even better, explore the whole region by 104-foot luxury yacht with Entre Cielos .

Baja California, Mexico

For West Coasters, especially, there’s no simpler honeymoon destination than Baja California , the peninsula representing some of the best of Mexico. There you’ll find all the hallmarks of an authentic Mexican village in San Jose del Cabo, paired with dozens of pristine beaches for above and underwater activities, and divine resorts such as elegantly minimalist favorite Las Ventanas al Paraíso , shiny new Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal or Viceroy Los Cabos , and rooftop-studded The Cape . The less-traveled East Cape, with somehow even more spectacular seascapes and a major escapist vibe, is now home to the just-debuted Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas and Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve . Just over the border in bougainvillea-laden Valle de Guadalupe is some of the best wine and food imaginable, not to mention cool accommodations (see Cabañas Cuatro Cuartos and El Cielo Winery & Resort ), with very reasonable price tags.

There are rivers and streams, waterfalls, hot sulfur springs, and a boiling lake, not to mention the Caribbean Sea, in Dominica, making it a water baby’s playground. The region’s longest hiking trail is also an option. Eco-resorts are hitting big after Hurricane Maria devastated the island, and it’s now a haven for jungle-y adventures (like canyoning in Titou Gorge), relaxation (see the mud pools of Wotten Waven Hot Springs), whale watching, and beautiful new hotels including  Jungle Bay ,  Secret Bay , and  Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski .

The hurricanes that devastated much of the Caribbean left this under-the-radar little paradise known as Spice Island totally untouched. The timing was good, as there are quite a few luxe resorts in the works, with the first major resort opening on Grand Anse Beach for decades last year. The  Silversands Hotel  has the longest pool in the Caribbean, but don’t expect to spend all your days there—the isle is packed with promise in the form of picturesque beaches on which to lounge, colorful culture and cuisine to try, and rainforests to explore. This Caribbean gem is only getting sparklier, with the addition of the unreal Six Senses La Sagesee , coming in May 2024.

guenterguni

There’s something to be said for the simplicity of a beach resort honeymoon, but if you’re a duo who seeks something more, there may be nothing more epic than a Galapagos adventure . The favorite destination of Charles Darwin’s offers outdoorsy types the ultimate opportunity to soak up an exotic dose of nature. There are several options for an island experience off the coast of Ecuador, one being a cruise, ideally on a small ship or mega-yacht like Ecoventura’s brand-new luxury-meets-eco-friendly Theory, which sails around the northern or southern islands for a week at a time, with snorkeling, standup paddleboard and kayaking gear, and naturalists on board. There’s also Pikaia Lodge , a bucket-list luxury destination with a sustainable culinary program, coffee they grow themselves, an infinity pool, spa, and carbon-neutral hotel rooms.

The debate between Sydney and Melbourne is like the one between Los Angeles and  New York —but there are so many other parts of this great island nation, too. In the former stay at the  QT Bondi  to work on your golden tan, or the newish  Old Clare Hotel  for an urban adventure. After checking out foodie mecca Melbourne’s divine restaurant scene and mural-filled laneways hit the artsy  Jackalope Hotel  for wine-country immersion on the Mornington Peninsula. Western Australia has a lot to offer, with buzzy Perth giving honeymooners bang for their buck, Rottnest Island offering up adorable quokkas and Chris Hemsworth–approved glamping at  Discovery Rottnest Island , and the outback and ocean adventures in the Kimberley and Ningaloo Reef. And it’s hard to find more idyllic beaches than those in the Whitsundays, of course.

Parts of Guatemala resemble Antigua with cobblestone streets and colorful buildings, and other areas are thick with rainforests and layered with volcanos. Explore the land's history by visiting ancient Mayan ruins as well as several museums in Guatemala City, which buzzes with nightlife after the sun sets. Get away from civilization at Casa Palopó on Lake Atitlan or in casitas on stilts at Francis Ford Coppola’s lakeside La Lancha , where friendly howler monkeys will lull you to sleep—or wake you up for a beautiful day in the rainforest.

Iceland  is for adventurers. Its lengthy list of attractions includes the spectacular Northern Lights in the wintertime (stay at  Ion  for an impeccable viewpoint), seemingly endless opportunities for trekking, riding the country’s famously tiny but strong horses, exploration of caves, volcanos, ice fields, and glaciers; and steamy hot springs and lagoons—the new  Retreat at Blue Lagoon  is the place to sleep and play at the most iconic of them all, with a spa built into the volcanic earth and a five-star restaurant. The land of fire and ice may be cold, but there’s enough adrenaline and romance to keep you hot.

Lanai, Hawaii

M Swiet Productions

It’s part of Hawaii , of course, but the landscape on Lanai is so otherworldly in parts it’ll make you feel like you traveled to another planet. Options abound: Ride horses up to the pines, or spend the day tooling around the rugged roads in a 4x4 Jeep, snorkeling around spinner dolphins, picnicking with super fresh poke, swimming in the cerulean sea and posing amid the lunar-like rocks of Garden of the Gods. Beyond the famous poke, there’s plenty of goodness to eat and imbibe at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai . And now the all-inclusive wellness-oriented Four Seasons Lanai at Koele , a Sensei Resort, has opened, adding a deluxe new way to relax and rejuvenate mind, body, and spirit.

This underrated African island makes for a truly spectacular honeymoon destination. There is everything from whale watching to deserted white sand beaches and lemurs to luxury lodges. The terrain is hugely varied and includes rainforest, open savannah, highlands, and desert, with lots of cultures to explore in between. The ultimate stay is at Miavana by Time + Tide , an ultra-luxe retreat on picture-perfect Nosy Ankao, where you can explore the depths of the Indian Ocean while diving, get high above it in helicopters, and track down translocated crowned lemurs in the forest, all while overnighting in dreamy digs and dining on five-star cuisine.

Hear about the Maldives and you instantly think of a honeymoon. The tropical South Asian nation is made up of 26 coral atolls in the Indian Ocean, which means unlimited beaches, turquoise waters for miles, extensive reefs, and plenty of fresh fish and seafood. You’re pretty secluded at whichever of the luxurious resorts you choose—such as the Four Seasons dream collection and pioneering, super-private Soneva Fushi —so expect a vacation filled with intimate meals, spa treatments, underwater adventures, and just plain relaxation.

Ph. Francesco Ciccotti

Tall sand dunes, a ridiculously expansive desert, and the world’s largest free-roaming black rhino population: Namibia represents a world of both grandiosity and serenity. The southern African nation isn’t your typical safari stop, it’s so much more. New lodges and camps like the hyper-luxe and relaxing Omaanda , remote beachfront Shipwreck Lodge , and authentic in-the-bush Hoanib Valley Camp provide experiences you literally won’t be able to forget.

Napa Valley, California

Sonoma’s buzz overtook its Northern Cali neighbor for a while, but  Napa  is experiencing a moment once again, with a slew of beautiful boutique boltholes—the intimate, experiential Ink House and stunning  Las Alcobas —and even a beer-tasting trail. The most known American wine country is full of charm, not to mention game-changing vino and iconic restaurants (anywhere by Thomas Keller), such as those at  Calistoga Ranch .  Four Seasons Napa Valley  recently bowed, as did  Vista Collina , a resort with its own Food & Wine Center, bringing couples who love the culinary arts options beyond imagination. Beyond the wine, you can relax at plentiful spas, or if you’re feeling outdoorsy there are hikes through redwoods and near lakes. For the contemporary luxe new kid on the block, couples should consider Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection . Its massive spa complex makes for a beautiful honeymoon backdrop, and it’s perfectly situated in the southern reaches of the county, making it a prime base to explore both Napa and neighboring Sonoma.

North Island, New Zealand

New Zealand ’s adventure hub of Queenstown is beloved in the south, but its massive North Island has equal if lesser-known opportunities to discover jaw-dropping scenes and sights. Waiheke Island, close to Auckland, is one charming option. Another is Northland, with lush green landscapes and cliffs over the Pacific and Tasmanian Seas. Go for 6,000 acres of farmland in the Bay of Islands with award-winning golf, ancient kauri forests, and private beaches at The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs . The Farm at Cape Kidnappers further down the island in Hawke’s Bay puts you smack in the middle of primo wine country, not to mention natural beauty.

Domestic getaways can run the risk of feeling less exciting than international, but in and around Oregon, there’s so much going on that’s not a problem. With countless parks and bike paths, gardens, a hip music-and-art scene, a major airport, and trendy microbreweries and restaurants, Portland is a great spot to kick off an Oregon escape. Base yourself at the sophisticated The Nines in Portland to start. Or, for a fancier stay, check out The Ritz-Carlton , a brand new offering in the city. In the Gorge area, there’s the natural beauty of snowy Mount Hood, countless waterfalls and wildflower hikes, and the cutest B&B, Sakura Ridge . Make sure to dine at Hiyu Wine Farm near Mt. Hood for farm-to-table goodness with Michelin star roots. In wine country, stay at the Tributary Hotel in McMinnville, a luxury boutique spot with an awesome on-site eatery. Check out nearby Humble Spirit for another delightful locally-sourced meal, Durant for wine and olive oil tasting, and Remy for a rad queer-owned winery.

Puerto Rico

Megan Vazquez / EyeEm

Puerto Rico has come back even better than ever. The spirit of Puerto Ricans shines bright in the island paradise, known as the island of enchantment. Resorts are reopening at a rapid pace, with the birthplace of the piña colada, Caribe Hilton , coming back online on an exclusive, lush peninsula with views of San Juan’s shore. After a $60 million renovation, St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort bows again, the first ultra-luxury resort on the island, and one surrounded by sea, sand, and foliage with private bird sanctuaries, an on-site marine biologist, ocean-front Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf course, plenty of activities (think kayaking, windsurfing, fishing, hiking and SUP), and several dining outlets.

Rajasthan, India

Known as a vibrant destination for Holi, the ancient Hindu festival, Rajasthan is a dynamic place to visit anytime. Experience contrasts the likes of which you’ve never seen by visiting both rural villages and cities such as Jaipur, the capital, known as the Pink City. Go tiger trekking in the desert and tour striking architecture. And live like queens and kings at the pink palace hotel Amanbagh , the one-time Mughal royal retreat. Along with the usual luxury trappings, you can even learn the most exotic of sports, camel polo.

Sacred Valley, Peru

Courtesy of Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba

Nestled in Peru’s Andean highlands, the Sacred Valley comprises gorgeous valley towns like Urubamba and Aguas Calientes, where one travels to ascend Machu Picchu. Understandably, a honeymoon in this unique destination is for those who live to enjoy nature in all its glory. Both Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba and Tambo del Inka are flawless resorts that marry an eco-aware spirit with thrilling activities, cultural traditions, and pure luxury. Make sure not to have too many pisco sours—alcohol doesn’t exactly help altitude sickness.

Switzerland

Between Zurich’s excess of chocolate, flowers, and lingerie—not to mention art, Michelin-starred food, and supreme TLC at The Dolder Grand —and the Swiss Alps’ extreme beauty, world-class skiing, and year-round natural attractions, Switzerland has plenty attracting newlyweds. The UNESCO-protected Lavaux wine region is another major crowd-pleaser, looking over Lake Geneva and showcasing not only incredible vino but also epic hikes, floating restaurants (see Le Montreux steamboat ), chocolate houses, and Europe’s only overwater hotel. Hotel Palafitte channels Tahiti but on Lake Neuchatel, with ladders from the bungalows plunging you directly into the water.

Give credit to Crazy Rich Asians , or don’t, but Singapore’s steady rise does seem tied to everybody’s favorite romantic comedy of 2018. Still, what’s crazy about the land of insanely good eats is the hospitality boom and the number of amazing new hotels that have opened recently. There’s the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach , designed by Philippe Starck, a Hotel Indigo , a Sofitel on the beachy island of Sentosa, an Andaz near Chinatown, and M Social , also conceived by Starck. Four Seasons just renovated their rooms, and increased flights mean ever easier access from America.

Taha’a, French Polynesia

Bora Bora , just in the distance, tends to get all the attention, but there’s something special about Taha’a, too. The French Polynesian isle is known for not only vanilla—that seductive spice that also scents the air in the most amazing way—but also produces rum and black pearls, all of which are attractive propositions.  Le Taha’a Island Resort & Spa , a Relais & Chateaux property, is the top choice for either a dreamy and expansive overwater bungalow or beach perch and has the best access to the ultimate drift snorkeling destination of Coral Garden.

If you’d thought about Georgia, last year’s trending destination, this year consider Slovenia, the Central European country of castles, verdant fields, snow-capped peaks, thermal springs, and the continent's greenest city, Ljubljana. It’s a place that’s still not overburdened by tourists, meaning you’ll enjoy getting to make your way through it a bit like pioneers. Slovenia makes its debut in the Michelin Gastronomic Guide, proof of its blossoming and widespread foodie scene. In the Julian Alps, sleep at the just reopened digital detox retreat Sunrose 7 , or near an organic chocolate factory overnight in the glamping units of Chocolate Village .

Courtesy of Tri Lanka

Rainforests, beaches, Buddhist ruins, wildlife, cities, and citadels—for such a tiny country, Sri Lanka offers an incredible amount of diversity to visitors. The exotic island in the middle of the Indian Ocean is rugged but also polished, with cuisine that represents a melting pot of cultures. Honeymooners can visit temples, go backpacking, or on safari in national parks and surf. Settle into the lush, LEED-certified solar farm-slash-boutique hotel Ulagalla or stay at the newest chic spot on the coast, the wellness-minded Tri Lanka , in Galle.

London can be just as alluring as Bora Bora if you’re a couple who’s enchanted by strolls in Hyde Park, world-class museums, celebrated restaurants, and plenty of culture, not to mention the idea of royalty. The posh destination has some of the finest accommodations in the world—consider  The Connaught  or  The Savoy —which, of course, sets the tone for romance. The countryside feels like being in a storybook: Try a chic, cozy cabin at  Soho Farmhouse , a stately manor room at  Heckfield Place  in the heart of Jane Austen country, or a room in a 350-year-old castle,  Cliveden House , where Meghan Markle spent her last night as a single commoner.

Austin, Texas

Are you a little bit of a hipster? Do you love music? Is your mouth watering thinking about barbecue? Get yourselves to the coolest city in the Lone Star State, which may not be known for romance but does have its spots, like Mount Bonnell and Lake Travis at sunset. Otherwise, stay at the trendy bungalow-style  Hotel San Jose  (or for a bucolic stay outside the city, the luxury spa resort  Travaasa Austin ) and spend time trying food trucks, seeing shows, and window-shopping on South Congress.

Antigua & Barbuda

Westend61/Getty Images

Pastel facades, bustling markets, tropical fruits, limestone formations, and, of course, plenty of pristine beaches: Antigua and Barbuda are essentially Eden. Between the two islands, you can find yourselves alone on powdery white sand, or on a catamaran sailing between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea at sunset. Head to all-inclusive resorts such as the opulent and recently renovated  Curtain Bluff  (where tennis, sailing, water-skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and bocce are included), along with once-in-a-lifetime private-island (literally) getaways like  Jumby Bay Island .

Vietnam has it all: Beaches, culture, Buddhist pagodas, rivers, and sophisticated cities. And the food. There are also French colonial remnants of Vietnam's French colonization. Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) and Hanoi are major metropolises while Hoi An, Mui Ne, and Hue offer more rural charm along with art and sandy coastlines that are as pristine as any island. Try the Six Senses Ninh Van Bay for a secluded coastal hideaway, and Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai for a bit more accessibility. The Southeast Asian country is fairly large, so you might want to consider road trips to experience the most varied markets, treks, cuisine, and temples.

Cashel Palace Hotel Cashel Tipperary Ireland Historic Hotel 5 Star Afternoon Tea in Queen Anne Room

Ireland, for the Hibernian hideaway

Add the Cranberries and U2 to that honeymoon soundtrack—the emerald hills of  Ireland are calling. Roughly two hours from  Dublin , Relais & Châteaux's recently refurbished  Cashel Palace Hotel in County Tipperary reopened in March 2022. The stately Palladian manor, built for an archbishop in 1732, now has an array of modern amenities including a spa and sauna, a 56-foot indoor pool, elevators, and air-conditioned guest rooms.  With just nine sumptuous suites and 42 bedrooms, the property feels intimate—a lovely place to take a morning stroll through elegant English-style gardens, relax in an outdoor seaweed bath, or sip afternoon tea from delicate bone china in the elegant Queen Anne Room. Adventurous couples will make the most of these picturesque country environs, of course, by exploring the medieval Rock of Cashel and Hore Abbey, joining a spine-tingling ghost walk through spooky Leap Castle, or hiking the ancient pilgrim path of St. Declan's Way.

Ritz Carlton Maldives Fari Islands

The Maldives, for the glam Crusoe experience

If there was ever a time and place to splurge on a vacation, it’s a honeymoon in the  Maldives . Screensaver-blue waters and Pinterest-worthy overwater bungalows are a common sight in this corner of the world, but the enchanting  Fari Islands —with its ultra-luxe resorts, community marina, and beach club—really ups the ante. A 50-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport in the North Malé Atoll brings couples to one of two stunning hotels:  Patina Maldives, Fari Islands and the  Ritz-Carlton Maldives . A third, the Kengo Kuma–designed  Capella Maldives , is slated to open in 2027.  Patina Maldives, Fari Islands , is the first flagship property from  Patina Hotels & Resorts , a new-ish lifestyle brand from Capella Hotel Group. It was designed by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan of Studio MK27 and features 90 one- to three-bedroom beach and pool villas, 20 studios, a specially commissioned James Turrell Skyspace pavilion, and a plant-based meal experience set in an organic permaculture garden. Honeymooners, in particular, should take note of Patina’s new Island Romance package, which bundles together private dinners, couples’ massages, meditation sessions, and a chance to take part in the resort’s coral-conservation program.

Napa Valley, for the oenophile retreat

A honeymoon in wine country? Sounds like the perfect pairing. At the 712-acre  Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection on the banks of the Napa River, rustic cottages (from $995 per night) are situated among rolling vines. (The working ranch and vineyard is known for its pinot noir and chardonnay varietals.) Couples can cycle alongside olive groves, play bocce on the “great lawn,” splash around the resort's hilltop pool, treat yourselves to a wine-themed spa treatment, vineyard hop to neighboring wineries (including  Scribe and  Matthiasson ), or take a 10-minute hotel shuttle to downtown Napa, where they can sample top-notch cabernet sauvignon and global cuisine. ( Angèle Restaurant & Bar , a riverside spot for romantic French fare, is fantastic for both.) While downtown, pay a visit to  Brown Estate —the first and only Black-owned winery in the region. A bottle of their zinfandel makes for a memorable souvenir.

Lisbon Portugal. Bridge. Water. Tourists. People. Building. Architecture

Portugal, for the city-beach combo

A newly year-round direct flight from New York to Funchal, the capital of Portugal’s Autonomous Region of Madeira, has made the far-flung archipelago more accessible than ever for American travelers. Beyond its thrilling hiking and mountain biking trails, Madeira is heaven for foodies: Dine at the remote beachfront restaurant  Fajã dos Padres , where many of the ingredients are farmed organically on-site; sip rum at Porto da Cruz, a distillery run by steam engine; and settle in for a six-, nine-, or 12-course tasting menu at the Michelin-starred Desarma , opened in 2023 by Chef Octávio Freitas on the rooftop of the boutique-y Views Baía hotel.

When you’re ready to trade small-town vibes for big-city action, fly to the Portuguese capital of  Lisbon , home of the oldest bookstore on earth ( Bertrand ) as well as the recently reopened  Royal Treasury Museum at the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda. Browse the luxury boutiques lining the Avenida da Liberdade, a.k.a. the Champs Elysées of Lisbon; take a tile workshop at the  Museu Nacional do Azulejo ; or soak up more Vitamin D by driving an hour south to the beaches in the stunning Setúbal district. Kayaking beneath the peninsular cliffs in Parque Natural de Arrábida is a must, as is locking in one of the 53 rooms or suites at  AlmaLusa , the only hotel in Comporta that is walkable to a beach.

Blue Pond Hokkaido

Hokkaido, for the winter wonderland

Instead of following the crowd on the well-trodden Tokyo-Mt. Fuji-Kyoto route, honeymooners should consider a winter getaway to Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island and the largest and wildest of its 47 prefectures. Kickstart the journey at Akan Mashu National Park by paddling around Lake Kussharo, the second largest caldera lake in the world, and down the serene Kushiro River with Kussharo Eco Tours , one of two local operators running canoe tours year-round. (If you’re lucky, your guide may spot a white-tailed eagle or rare Blakiston’s fish owl.) Lake Mashu, also within park boundaries, is equally worth a stop. It’s one of the clearest lakes on Earth, primarily because humans are forbidden from going on or in it. The best way to experience Mashu’s majesty is via a snowshoeing tour, led by soft-spoken naturalist and hobby photographer Shinobu Katase , around the rim of its caldera. Learning about the Ainu, the original inhabitants of Hokkaido, on an enlightening Anytime, Ainutime! excursion through Lake Akan Ainu Kotan, one of Japan’s largest indigenous villages, is another can’t-miss experience. Language, foraging, culture, crafts—it’s all covered, and you can further support the community by shopping at one of the 20-plus Ainu-owned stores in the area. Whatever you get up to by day, the open-air onsen at Oyado KinkiyuBettei Suikazura in the steaming hot springs town of Kawayu is where you want to unwind at night. The spring-fed waters rank among Japan’s most acidic—which does wonders for some skin conditions but can also corrode jewelry (so slip those new rings off before you plunge in).

Machu Picchu in the fog Cuzco Peru

Peru, for the Amazonian immersion

For newlyweds craving a touch of adventure, Uniworld’s 16-day  Peruvian Amazon & Machu Picchu Exploration (from $13,999 per guest) delivers in spades. The itinerary starts and ends in Lima and includes a weeklong cruise on the  Aria Amazon, a luxurious river boat with floor-to-ceiling windows in its 16 chicly designed staterooms.  Among the featured excursions: a skiff ride on the Marañón River in Iquitos, where lucky couples might spot pink dolphins or one of 64 rare birds; kayaking or canoeing the tarry black waters of the Yanayacu-Pucate River; jungle trekking with a naturalist through the San Jose de Sarapanga forest, eyes peeled for 300-pound water lilies; and visiting a manatee rescue and rehabilitation center in Maynas. The pièce de résistance, of course, is a visit to the epic wonder that is Machu Picchu .

Bermuda, for the easy-breezy island getaway

Maybe it's the pink sand beaches or the British colonial architecture or the ease of flying there in two hours from New York City, but Bermuda is always popular with the honeymoon crowd. It's even more enticing now that a state-of-the-art terminal has opened at LF Wade International Airport. Taking a page from the Singapore Changi playbook, the sustainably designed project features a putting green, nature trail, and outdoor terraces. On the hotel front, The Loren at Pink Beach lures newlyweds with its contemporary design, one-bedroom villa suites with private heated pools, and fun honeymooner activities like shipwreck diving (Bermuda’s coastline holds the world record for most wrecks per square mile). Other postnuptial properties to consider include Azura Bermuda , a cliffside boutique hotel overlooking South Shore, and the century-old Cambridge Beaches Resort , with its full-service marina and European-style spa. Besides swimming and sunbathing, newlyweds can plant a cedar tree to commemorate their special day, thanks to a partnership with the Bermuda National Trust , or explore Black-owned businesses and other historic points of interest along the African Diaspora Heritage Trail . At sunset, toast to married life at The Birdcage , a seasonal rooftop cocktail bar.

Kirkjubøur and Koltur at Foaroe Islands. Traditional black tarred timber and grass roofs.

The Faroe Islands, for the Faroese fairytale

A storybook wedding deserves a storybook honeymoon—and a road trip around the Faroe Islands is the stuff of Grimms' Fairy Tales . Fly into Vágar Airport and pick up a vehicle from 62°N Car Rental ; the North Atlantic archipelago is well-connected via tunnels and bridges, with mom-and-pop accommodations sprinkled throughout the islands. At Hanusarstova , an airy cottage in the village of Æðuvík, about a 20-minute drive from the capital of Tórshavn, young farmers Harriet and John ply their Airbnb guests with homemade breakfasts—including eggs from their own chickens. Alternatively, couples can base themselves at the four-star, Green Key -certified Hotel Brandan in Tórshavn, and make day trips along the Sóljuleiðir, or Buttercup routes, named for the Faroese national flower. Intrepid honeymooners who take it slow will be rewarded with cascading waterfalls and spectacular hiking trails, turf roof homes nestled amid rolling green hills, and an abundance of charming villages (Tjørnuvík, Gjógv, and Skálavík, to name just a few).

New Orleans Louisiana

New Orleans, for the epicures’ delight

For newlyweds who first connected over a mutual love of food and drink, there’s no better place to indulge your cravings than New Orleans—land of powdery-sweet beignets, killer po’boys, and muffulettas the size of hubcaps. Check in at Hotel Peter & Paul , a 19th-century Catholic church, convent, and schoolhouse in the Marigny neighborhood that has been lovingly transformed into one of the finest boutique properties in the South. Couples can select from dozens of one-of-a-kind rooms decked out in rich tapestries, Italianate marble fireplaces, and hand-painted tile showers. More importantly, there’s the excellent Elysian Bar in the former rectory; the aperitivo hour (3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday) with its $9 pineapple shrub daiquiris and rillettes is the ultimate warmup for the bar crawl and food binge to come. Our suggestion: Start with a round of Vieux Carrés while going ‘round-and-round at the famous Carousel Bar in the storied Hotel Monteleone before eventually making your way to Fritai for innovative Haitian-Creole dishes like kabrit (crispy twice-cooked goat with rice and beans, fried plantains, and spicy relish), the charmingly Frenchified N7 in the Bywater for the housemade charcuterie and frog legs karaage with sambal aioli, or the Rabbit Hole Supper Club pop-up at Trap Kitchen, where the quirky parade of genre-rattling dishes sometimes includes a burnt grain salad we still dream about. When you’re ready for a nightcap, duck into the velvety-luxe Peacock Room at the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot , where the spirit menu is as vast as the vibe is sultry. If you’ve left any room for non-culinary activities, the Germaine Cazenave Wells Mardi Gras Museum , secreted away above Arnaud’s Restaurant; the Ogden Museum of Southern Art ; and City Park , whose handsome old oak trees drip with Spanish moss; are always worth a detour.

Tutka Bay Lodge

Alaska, for northern adventure

Many travelers to the 49th state experience it from a ship deck, but tackling it by car, foot, and plane pays dividends for more DIY-type honeymooners. Start at the family-run Tutka Bay Lodge on Kachemak Bay near Homer. Nestled amid 35 acres of pristine forest, the rustic-luxe boutique property offers daily cooking classes, meditation and yoga, sea kayaking, bear viewing, glacier trekking, deep-sea fishing, and tours of the family’s nearby flower farm.

Next stop: a charming A-frame cabin at Salted Roots in Seward. Sandwiched between a spruce forest and Resurrection Bay on the Kenai Peninsula, its private deck is the perfect perch to kick back after a packed day of sightseeing (or flightseeing, as the case may be). The couple that runs the place also owns Flamingo Lounge , a craft cocktail bar-cum steakhouse in town; ask them for tips on hiking, orca spotting, and where to buy the most unique Alaskan-made souvenirs.  For a grand finale, fly an hour north to Fairbanks and bed down in a glass dome igloo at Borealis Basecamp outside Fairbanks. Pitched amid towering spruce trees under an inky black sky, it’s ideal for catching the aurora borealis, which is most active from late August through April. When you’re not watching the night sky, you can walk alongside reindeer in a boreal forest or make a day trip to the Arctic Circle.

The Vietage Private Booth

Vietnam, for the romantic rail journey

One of the most relaxing ways to experience the beauty of Central Vietnam is aboard The Vietage by Anantara , a luxury train carriage operated by Anantara. Originating in Đà Nẵng, it chugs its way through the scenic countryside and along the South China Sea, ending in the coastal town of Quy Nhơn. The 12-passenger car is dolled up in 1920s and '30s French Colonial style, complete with a full bar. Couples can indulge in endless beer and bubbly during the six-hour journey; A three-course meal made with local ingredients and a 15-minute head-and-shoulder massage are also included. The ideal way for newlyweds to experience the route is by booking Anantara's Exploring the Central Coast package (from $1,235 for two people). It features two one-way tickets aboard The Vietage, bookended by two nights in a deluxe balcony room at Anantara Hoi An , just a half hour's drive from Đà Nẵng, and two nights in a glamorous oceanfront villa at Anantara Quy Nhơn Villas . Honeymooners won't even have to worry about feeding themselves; daily breakfast and dining credits are folded into the rate.

The Great Smoky Mountains, for the backpackers’ romp

For couples bonded over their love of the great outdoors, the five-day Great Smoky Mountains Hiking trip (from $5,899 per person for a private guided excursion) from REI Adventures will leave them breathless—literally and figuratively. The itinerary winds through the 522,427-acre Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina and includes a visit to the 19th-century John Oliver Cabin in Cades Cove, one of the park’s oldest historical structures, and Andrews Bald, a double peak on Forney Ridge and the highest bald in the Smokies. It also covers a leg of the Appalachian Trail, culminating with panoramic views of Fontana Lake from atop the historic Shuckstack fire tower. The hiking will be moderately challenging, covering between four and nine miles per day, but honeymooners won’t rough it come nightfall: sleeping arrangements include a stay at the 76-year-old Nantahala Village Resort and glamping in Under Canvas ’ safari-style tents with real beds, private baths, and wood-burning stoves. Meals, guides, park fees, and transportation from Knoxville are included.

Dubai, for the Arabian dream

For couples who believe luxury and romance go hand in hand, there are few destinations more glamorous than Dubai. The largest city in the United Arab Emirates boasts some of the world’s most opulent hotels and spas, a cityscape rife with glittering architecture, and more than a dozen Michelin-starred restaurants. One&Only Royal Mirage makes for a stunning basecamp with its jewel-toned Arabian suites, tiled hammam, and lagoon-style swimming pools (including one reserved exclusively for adults). Pry yourself away from the five-star property and the whole city awaits: Sign up for a Dubai Fountain lake ride at the foot of the Burj Khalifa , the world’s tallest building; hop aboard a traditional abra at Dubai Creek to browse mountains of colorful spices and gobs of wedding jewelry in the traditional spice and gold souks, respectively; or check out the knock-your-socks-off Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis The Palm , home to more than 65,000 marine animals. End the trip with a stay at Bab Al Shams , a splendid Arabian Desert resort just beyond city limits. Days here are spent bashing dunes, riding camels, and splashing around Escher-esque, multi-tiered swimming pools. Nights are for stargazing and, well, use your imagination.

Montana, for the wilderness vacation

When the team behind  The Resort at Paws Up , a four-time Readers' Choice Awards winner and one of the most exclusive addresses in rural  Montana , announced the summer 2021 opening of a new adults-only retreat, newlyweds took notice.  The Green O is tucked into the same 37,000-acre working ranch that houses Paws Up—deep in the forested Blackfoot River Valley yet less than a 40-minute drive to the Missoula airport. The Green O’s 12 standalone guest houses have enormous windows for taking in the serene woodlands, but the two-story  Tree Haus layout, lofted 23 feet above the ground, feels the most private. When couples aren’t curling up by one of two fireplaces or soaking in the ground-level outdoor hot tub, they can pass the hours horseback riding, hot air ballooning, and whitewater rafting. Food, wine, airport transfers, and the use of a Lexus SUV on-site are included in the nightly rate.

Indonesias Komodo National Park

Indonesia, for the seekers’ sanctuary

Newlyweds keen on taking their relationship to a deeper level can get their minds, bodies, and souls in sync at AYANA Estate on Jimbaran Bay in the south of Bali. The one-bedroom cliff villas have sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, plus plunge pools and personalized butler service, but it’s the property’s cultural and holistic wellness offerings that really entice: sunrise yoga, sound bath meditation, Hindu temple visits, batik painting classes; tours of the on-site Saka Museum , an architecturally stunning cultural center that explores the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana; herbal remedy workshops where participants harvest their own ingredients from the resort’s five-acre organic farm; and thalassotherapy, a spa treatment that heats saltwater to the optimum temperature to stimulate circulation and rebalance the body’s minerality. Honeymooners can also request dinner on a private pier surrounded by flickering tiki torches or a couples massage in twin villas nested atop ocean-facing rocks.

From Bali, hop a one-hour flight to Komodo National Park , a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Indonesia’s Lesser Sunda archipelago known for its rugged landscapes and scaly residents (more than 4,000 Komodo dragon monitor lizards call this home). Drop your bags at AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach in Labuan Bajo and head straight for the water: Popular activities here include stand-up paddleboarding and sea kayaking, snorkeling at Menjerite Island, planting coral with an in-house marine biologist, and exploring Komodo’s various nooks and crannies aboard Lako di’a , a traditional phinisi yacht fit for Balinese royalty.

How to plan the perfect honeymoon

Getting hitched is one of the best reasons to ditch work and undertake your longest, splurge-iest trip ever. But before you dive headfirst into checking off the items on your travel bucket list, take a few minutes to consider the practical stuff—because the trip of your dreams won’t just magically appear by itself.

In fact, lousy hotels, missed flights, lackluster meals and inhospitable weather can significantly hamper a happy holiday, essentially flushing your hard-earned money down the toilet. And while we can’t see the future, we can assure you that proper planning will undoubtedly put the odds in your favor of enjoying the getaway of your dreams.

Here's a handy guide to the best planning tips and advice for your honeymoon.

Timing is everything

You’ve dutifully set aside your collection of vacation days—now it’s time to work out how to spend them on your honeymoon. It’s important to weigh the time you’ve allotted for your adventure against your destination of choice, and make sure that your trip is spent traveling, not transiting.

With two or three weeks, you’ll have a more generous amount of time to take a crack at a faraway destination and overcome the exhaustion of a long-haul journey and/or jet lag. But a week-long holiday, say, is never well served by spending two full days hoofing it from one continent to another, only to turn around a few days later and repeat the grueling trek back.

Boats next to an idyllic beach backed by tree-lined cliffs in Thailand.

The other major timing consideration has to do with seasonality. Tacking your honeymoon on at the end of your already-set wedding date might preclude travel to certain destinations simply due to the time of year. Large areas of the Caribbean , for example, are prone to hurricanes during the months of September and October. Other destinations have annual monsoons—like Thailand , which has two different curtains of rains that sweep across the kingdom during the latter half of the year.

It’s best to educate yourself on the high and low seasons of your preferred honeymooning locales. Prices, of course, increase with a rise in demand during the months with the most favorable climate and during busy periods such as school holidays (when desirable hotels can also become scarce). Low seasons, on the other hand—or better yet, ’shoulder’ or ‘green’ seasons—can be a worthy option if you want to see more bang for your buck at the expense of rolling the dice weather-wise.

Benefits of DIY

When choosing a destination for your honeymoon, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to one place, but a protracted vacation—as many honeymoons are—lends itself well to exploring several locales. All-inclusive hotels are going to try to convince you otherwise, and travel agents will try to capitalize on your lack of destination knowledge with tours and templates.

However, a DIY trip is much easier than you might think, and the rewards are exponentially greater than signing up for a cookie-cutter tour. Hands-on planning is a crucial part of understanding a destination and you’ll arrive in the country with a commendable amount of acquired knowledge that will further guide you to sniff out the top experiences that really speak to you.

How to build a multi-stop honeymoon

As the architect of your own multi-stop trip, you might want to think of your honeymoon as a novel; the action on your vacation should swell and ebb accordingly. Think of the beginning of the trip as the initiation phase—you’re adjusting to a new world (maybe getting over jet lag) and want to ease into the action as it gradually builds. The middle section of the honeymoon is where the plot thickens. Your pulse quickens with adventure sports, or late urban nights exploring. Then, with the end of the story in sight, the last section of the holiday is when the jets cool—a denouement of sorts when you once again slow your pace.

It’s the beach in Bahia after Rio and São Paulo , the Amalfi villa at the end of Tuscany and Rome  or the ryokan in Hakone when you’re wrapping up Kyoto and Tokyo . You need a chance to unwind at the end of the trip, so you feel revitalized by the holiday, not desperately needing another.

Picking hotels

Now, with your storybook itinerary you’re going to have to slot in hotels. These should play out in tandem with the pace at each stage of your trip, but you need to slightly trick your future self. Every accommodation option selected should build upon the previous choice. The human mind can’t help but judge, and when you arrive at lodging number two you won’t be able to ignore the instinct to compare it to your accommodation the night before.

So, in order to essentially feel like you’re winning at travel, each hotel must get progressively better—or maintain the quality of the previous stay—culminating in your big splurge at the end, which nicely coincides with your itinerary’s finale. The last slice of the vacation is the happy ever after—just like you and your spouse after the wedding.

Honeymoon planning timeline

One year before honeymoon : Dream. Think about where you’ve always wanted to go to celebrate your marriage, and get inspired by guidebooks , magazines and websites.

Nine months before your honeymoon : If you’re budgeting your holiday in tandem with your wedding, you’ll likely know at this point what funds you’re hoping to allocate to your trip and can compare your budget against that dream list of destinations.

Six months before your honeymoon : Properly slot in your travel dates after calibrating for personal commitments and taking into account the optimal time–as you deem it–for visiting your destination of choice.

Young lesbian Couple Stop To Take A Selfie At Brandenburg Gate in Berlin

Four months before your honeymoon (or earlier) : Cement the foundations of your plans, scouting airplane tickets, booking must-have items on your checklist (hotels, visa, park permits) and firming up a version–in very broad strokes–of what your itinerary might look like (which days in which destination for multi-stop trips).

Two months before your wedding (note wedding, and not necessarily honeymoon) : If you’ve decided to ask your guests to help you fund your dream trip, now is the time to create an online registry detailing tangible activities to be undertaken at a gradation of price points to suit your wedding guests’ varying budgets.

One month before your honeymoon : The internet enables the world to move a million miles a minute, so once you begin the 30-day countdown you can take to your social platforms to snoop for upcoming events and trending bars, and even find friends that might be crisscrossing your itinerary.

One of the best ways to round out wedding planning is by taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip with your partner after it's all said and done. If you enjoy perks with stays, then perhaps the best route to consider. especially when booking a resort, is to explore their romance and honeymoon packages.

Romantic getaways for couples that combine a variety of experiences—including meals, upgrades and excursions—are considered packages as it's about setting the overall tone of the trip. For example, some hotels will offer a wellness package for two where couples can easily indulge in organic spa treatments, daily wellness rituals, and turndown services. Another may have a honeymoon package deal where newlyweds will be treated to an exclusive, sunset dinner for two, as well as a bucket-list excursion locally. Here, we review the best honeymoon packages for couples, especially those who want the five-star treatment (and chilled champagne upon arrival).

In this article:

What to Look for When Booking a Honeymoon Package

Caribbean honeymoon packages, central america and mexico honeymoon packages, europe honeymoon packages, south pacific, australia and new zealand honeymoon packages, south and southeast asia honeymoon packages, usa honeymoon packages.

A couple enjoying a romantic beachside dinner together.

Given your honeymoon will be one of the most outstanding trips you'll take as a couple, refining the destination and respective hotels or operators may be a tough decision. According to The Knot's 2022 Honeymoon Study, one-third of all couples stay at premium hotels, while a quarter seeks all-inclusive options. One in five specifically select luxury, five-star properties to accommodate their dream getaway. (For many, the honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime splurge.)

To get the most from a given resort or destination, couples will look for romance deals or specific honeymoon packages custom-tailored by each resort. These packages cater to the overall intimate experience sought by couples. The property may provide complimentary spa massages, a romantic beach dinner for two, or a private sunset boat ride. Some tour operators may include a private helicopter ride or boat transfers as part of its comprehensive package experience.

What else should you look for when booking a honeymoon package? "Budget is usually one of the first concerns. There are options for most price ranges, however, you need to be realistic. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for," advise Reco advisors Mike K. and Curtis R. "Other items to consider are travel times as some locations can require overnight flights which can be stressful after a wedding. Most of all, it's about finding the right resort for your desires. Friends and family will provide suggestions, but their likes may be different than yours."

With this in mind, it really is up to you to decide what you want to get out of your honeymoon and, more specifically, what you want out of your honeymoon package. If all you want is to fly and flop somewhere tropical, you might like the Caribbean, the South Pacific or Indonesia. If you'd prefer a destination that marries gorgeous scenery with adrenaline-pumping activities, try New Zealand, Iceland or Australia. And for something a bit closer to home (which also means saving pennies!), consider a US-based honeymoon in Florida.

Renaissance Island in Aruba

A short distance away from the East Coast of the US, it's no wonder Caribbean honeymoon packages are so high in demand. Between Aruba, Saint Lucia and Jamaica, it's a tough decision to select the ideal honeymoon package for you and your partner–they're all too good.

Aruba Honeymoon Packages

The sunny island nation just beyond the Hurricane Belt is home to a range of properties tailored to romance. Aruba honeymoon packages may include private picnics, boat rides, chef-led dinners, and unique amenities.

Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino : The "Sand, Sea, You & Me" package from this centrally-located resort already comes with exclusive-level packaging. Couples will receive complimentary champagne and access to the Tradewinds Club, Marriott's adults-only tier that offers complimentary food and beverage, as well as other amenities on the top floor of the resort. This romance package also includes a sunset sail with De Palm Tours, a romantic dinner at Atardi, and a 90-minute photoshoot with professional Demian Gibbs Photography . To top off the honeymoon package, couples will also receive message-in-a-bottle kits for sentimental letter writing and keepsakes to share for decades to come.

Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino : The Hilton property is offering its Romance Package for two, which includes a welcome amenity, daily breakfasts for two, a couples spa treatment at the eforea spa, a sunset concierge dining experience, and to top it off: a 30-minute private photo shoot.

Divi & Tamarjin All Inclusives : Arguably the all-inclusive resort in Aruba, this wellness property has its own honeymoon package for couples wanting an extra special getaway. Along with the food and beverage options included in the room rates, this deal includes a bottle of chilled champagne, a unique take-home gift, a prime room choice, and a free night if you return to the property for your first anniversary.

Saint Lucia Honeymoon Packages

There's a reason why St. Lucia honeymoon packages are so high in demand. The destination is arguably one of the most romantic in the Caribbean with the dramatic and otherworldly peaks of the Pitons. Resorts on the island also custom tailor experiences around romance, making it a sultry destination of choice for couples.

Jade Mountain : There are honeymooners galore at Jade Mountain, but you likely won't see them. Here, most guests don't leave the rooms—or rather their palatial three-walled, open-concept suites that surround an enormous plunge pool, all of which overlook the Pitons. Luckily, room service is terrific and efficient. The Total Romance offer is a honeymoon package where luxury meets adventure. Expect guided volcano tours, scuba diving lessons, jungle biking, a half-day yacht trip and a Swedish massage.

St. Barths Honeymoon Packages

It's fact that among the Caribbean islands, St. Barths is reputable for being the default playground for celebrities and billionaires alike. Luxury accommodations are a given at this destination–and with service and delicious food to match.

Hotel Christopher St. Barths : Located on Pointe Milou, the Christopher Hotel offers a signature "seashell" spa treatment for couples to enjoy. Shells are filled with warm oil for massages as couples take in the beauty of their surroundings privately and outdoors.

The Xunantunich Mayan archaeological site in Belize.

Couples seeking R&R and fresh guac should seriously consider Mexico and Central America honeymoon packages. With gorgeous destinations dotting both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, not to mention culturally immersive experiences and splendid tourism attractions, there's so much for couples to easily access from the US.

Belize Honeymoon Packages

South of Mexico is this affordable, eco-friendly destination, brimming with lush jungle and Caribbean water. Belize honeymoon packages typically include a wide variety of amenities and value-adds, without the compromising price tag.

Alaia Belize Autograph Collection : Located on Ambergris Caye, this property offers its own, standalone all-inclusive package. This includes all meals, as well as unlimited beverages, use of the resort's kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, along with other complimentary activities. Couples can also enjoy discounts on spa and cabana rentals. Roundtrip transfers from the San Pedro Airstrip are also included.

The Belize Collection : With properties like Jaguar Reef Lodge and Sleeping Giant, the Belize Collection's portfolio is sprinkled throughout key regions of the country. Throughout the year, couples can take advantage of various offers or packages, including 10% off accommodations, as well as resort credits to be used for food and beverage options.

Xanadu Island Resort : Ambergris Caye is considered one of the most beautiful destinations in Belize and this package simply enhances the experience. Couples will receive a welcome drink upon arrival, as well as a welcome basket with local treats and wine. The experience also includes a romantic dinner for two al fresco, as well as a restaurant dinner on separate evening. Those looking for water activities will appreciate that this package comes with a half-day snorkeling excursion at Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley, as well as a private fishing and snorkeling trip that ends with the day's fresh catch enjoyed during a beach barbecue. A couple's massage will top off the experience. That's not all: round-trip flights from the international airport and transfers to Xanadu are included with this package.

Costa Rica Honeymoon Packages

One of the most biodiverse countries on Planet Earth is none other than the Land of Pura Vida. Adventure-seeking couples will find ease with Costa Rica honeymoon packages, which may couple a fun outdoorsy activity with a relaxing couples massage or yoga class.

La Paloma Lodge : This property is exactly what you dream about when envisioning a Costa Rican honeymoon—with some luxury thrown in for good measure. The lodge sits atop a cliff, perched above the Pacific Ocean in Drake Bay, where jungle-immersed rooms are fit with air-conditioners and stunning interiors, along with a large balcony, hammock and plenty of monkey sightings. Opt for the Romance package when booking your stay for a bottle of wine or sparkling wine, chocolates and flowers on arrival and a couples massage.

Botánika Osa Peninsula : Situated between Corcovado National Park and the Pacific Ocean's Golfo Dulce, Hilton's Curio Collection eco-resort, Botánika Osa Peninsula, is an incredible ocean and rainforest paradise for couples. Its romance package includes massages for two, daily breakfast, dinner for two, as well as chilled champagne. Plus, couples can enjoy late check-out.

Cancún Honeymoon Packages

Along the Riviera Maya is the shining resort region of Cancún, where you can find just about every type of all-inclusive resort under the sun. Couples who want the full honeymoon experience, however, may want to venture slightly beyond Cancún to areas like Playa del Carmen and Tulum for more privacy and natural beauty.

Banyan Tree Mayakoba : Discerning honeymooners know developments along the Riviera Maya are completely distinct from nearby Cancún. This includes the Banayn Tree in the luxury development of Mayakoba. The property offers a " Sense of Romance " package, including a couple's massage a dinner for two at the recommended Thai restaurant Saffron, an "intimate moment" arranged by the concierge (a popular choice among couples is the in-villa outdoor bath), sparkling wine upon arrival, and daily breakfast for two.

Secrets Impression Moxché Playa del Carmen : At Secrets Impression Moxché, couples can enjoy an uninterrupted Newlywed and Anniversary Package that includes the following: fresh fruit, sparkling wine, turndown services with a special touch, breakfast in bed, and 15% off all spa treatments if that's your priority.

Los Cabos Honeymoon Packages

The southernmost region of Mexico's Baja California peninsula, located along the Pacific Coast, is considered one of the top destinations for travel from the West Coast of the US. Residents who live in LA or Texas can easily reach Cabo in less than a few hours. However, venture just a bit further to lesser-known Todos Santos and you'll find even better romance offerings that feel a bit more private.

Rancho Pescadero : An adults-only property in Todos Santos centered on mindfulness and natural beauty, the Rancho Pescadero offers a "Joy of Living Well" package. (Enough said.) This deal takes a rest and relaxation approach, including a massage or treatment at the Botánica Spa, followed by a farm-to-table lunch for two at the restaurant on-site. There's also an apothecary component where couples can build their own bouquet or create their own essential oil blends.

Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort: Couples escaping to Cabo will appreciate the "Here's to the Honeymooners" package from this particular adults-only property. Newlyweds who book a stay of five or more nights will enjoy special decorations in their room upon arrival, as well as chilled sparkling wine. Early check-in and late check-out, as well as the possibility of room upgrades are also teased as part of the package. Plus, couples can repeat the experience with a free night stay on their first anniversary.

A sunny day on the island of Santorini in Greece.

Imagine fields of provincial lavender, pure blue water against Cycladic Islands, and mounds of freshly-rolled pasta preluding an afternoon of boating along the Mediterranean. It's no surprise that couples adore an international getaway, especially when European honeymoon packages are involved.

France Honeymoon Packages

If you're looking for the Emily in Paris experience (sans the drama of the show), consider exploring France honeymoon packages along the French Riviera or the Normandy region. Considering the country is home to the world's finest gastronomy and wine, all you have to do is say "oui" to France.

Hôtel Plaza Athénée : Since 1913, the Hôtel Plaza Athénée has been the poster child for all things luxury and the epitome of Parisian chic. Here, rooms come dressed in rich silks, damask, rare woods and velvet—many with unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower. Naturally, at a hotel so fine and in a city so well known for food, it's fitting that chef Alain Ducasse would oversee all of the hotel's food and beverage operations. The Romantic Offer package comes with a bottle of champagne and chocolates upon arrival, American breakfast for two, and access to the sauna and hammam in the Dior Spa.

Greece Honeymoon Packages

The white-washed walls and blue rooftops of Santorini and the otherworldly feeling of shipwrecked Zakynthos are just a few of the sightseeing opportunities for couples who want an Aegean getaway. Some Greece honeymoon packages are tailored to romance and aquatic adventure.

Abaton Island Resort & Spa : While most flock to the Cyclades when they head to Greece, why not stray from the crowd and visit the country's largest island instead? Abaton Island Resort & Spa is a quick 20-minute transfer from Crete's airport and its honeymoon suite—with a private pool, jacuzzi and sea views—is primed for a relaxing stay. Dinner and breakfast are included with the hotel's half-board option.

Andronis Feretti : The Andronis portfolio's unique package for its private yacht experience includes a half-day cruise around Santorini led by the captain of the boat and a crew member. Couples can enjoy refreshments and local wine, as well as other divine delicacies known to Greece. Lunch is served on board too. Plus, you'll head back to your suite after an enchanting day of sailing around the Aegean.

Iceland Honeymoon Packages

Drama is the word that comes to mind when considering Iceland honeymoon packages. Couples who dare to venture to the Nordic Island will be delighted by the landscape offerings across land, sea and sky. Naturally, an Icelandic experience should include a visit (or several) to a thermal spa, coupled with an outing to the Golden Circle. Pending priority, some iceland honeymoon packages may include a visit to the Tectonic Plates or involve a Northern Lights viewing experience.

The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland : The 62-suite hotel offers direct access to the Blue Lagoon, arguably one of the highest-visited tourist destinations in Iceland. Couples, however, will enjoy their own private section of the lagoon's healing thermal waters and access to its beloved clay masks. The "Romantic Getaway" package includes accommodations, welcome drinks, daily breakfast for two, welcome gifts, daily group yoga sessions, a four-course dinner at the Lava Restaraunt, and a seven-course tasting menu for two at the acclaimed Moss Restaurant. In addition, couples can choose between various treatments at the spa, while having unlimited access to the Retreat Spa, Retreat Lagoon and the Blue Lagoon–skincare amenities, included. Now how's that for an all-encompassing Iceland honeymoon package?

Italy Honeymoon Packages

Arguably one of the top global destinations for any form of romance (and carb consumption) is the Land of La Dolce Vita. While Italy honeymoon packages are a bit pricier than other international offerings, the country is known for its wellness amenities and focus on cultural exploration.

Preidlhof: The wellness resort in northern Italy has rejuvenation and romance on its radar with its very own Honeymoon & Wedding Anniversary Package. Couples can rest easy knowing Preidlhof is all-inclusive with fresh fare offered each day to guests. Package offerings include a specially-decorated suite upon arrival, welcome drinks, a designated "romance table" for dining, treatments for two at the spa, and one trip out to the local region in the resort's Fiat 500 for the true Italian experience.

A scenic view of the mountainside in Bora Bora, part of French Polynesia.

Venturing far and Down Under, the South Pacific, Autralia and New Zealand are known for attracting adventurous honeymooners who dare to explore. The South Pacific contains some of the best honeymoon destinations, including Fiji and Tahiti. It's made up of clusters of intimate resorts, small peaceful villages and miles of quiet pristine beaches where honeymooners can post up in some seriously dreamy digs. The best time to travel to Fiji and French Polynesia is during the high season months of June to September, but New Zealand and Australia are best visited between December and March to catch the warm weather . Pending location, packages may include watersports or mountaintop excursions. Beauty is guaranteed no matter where you land.

Australia Honeymoon Packages

An aerial view of Sydney Harbor in Australia.

Head to the likes of Fiji or French Polynesia for overwater bungalows, or to New Zealand and Australia for a honeymoon immersed in nature. The following New Zealand and Australia honeymoon packages may spark multiple return visits.

Qualia : Known as one of the world's best resorts, you can't go wrong with a stay at Australia's qualia hotel. Sitting on 30 acres of native gardens, the hotel can be found on the northernmost tip of Hamilton Island and is the perfect base to explore the Great Barrier Reef. For your honeymoon, may we suggest the Heart Island Adventure package? This includes a four-night stay, a helicopter tour over the Great Barrier Reef and landing on Heart Island's helipad to spend some time snorkeling around the reef. Talk about a memory-maker.

Longitude 131˚ : For an all-inclusive honeymoon package that's as adventurous as it is scenic, opt for a stay at Longitude 131˚. Here, you can stay in one of the luxury tented domes or pavilion, each with bucket-list views of Australia's famed Uluru. Honeymooners should pick the Classic Uluru package for spa treatment credits and a guided walk to Uluru's base on top of your meals and drinks.

New Zealand Honeymoon Packages

Huka Lodge : After a luxury New Zealand honeymoon package? Look no further. Huka Lodge, nestled near the banks of the Waikato River in New Zealand's North Island, has just 20 guest suites (so you're bound to get some much-wanted privacy). The honeymoon package includes two nights, an hour-long couples spa treatment, flowers and chocolates on arrival, five-course evening meals in a private dining location as well as a full country breakfast.

Hapuku Lodge + Treehouses : Located above a deer farm in the South Island of New Zealand, Hapuku Lodge sits at the foot of the Kaikoura Seaward Mountain Range. A stay in one of its treehouses is such a unique honeymoon idea. Each treehouse has large windows that look across the canopy—best seen while relaxing in one of the deep-soak tubs. The honeymoon package includes three nights in one of the treehouses, a bottle of French champagne, organic chocolate, a three-course dinner each night (with a five-course, wine-paired dinner one night!) and a massage for each of the newlyweds. Sign us up.

Fiji Honeymoon Packages

Likuliku Lagoon Resort : No trip to Fiji is complete without a stay in one of its overwater bungalows (or as they say in Fiji, bures ). Likuliku Lagoon Resort's Celebration package is ideal for honeymoons as it includes an hour-long couples massage and a bottle of sparkling wine when you book a five-night stay. The room price includes all meals, bottled water and use of non-motorized water sports—but you'll likely spend most of your time here diving off your private deck into the crystalline waters, which are that dreamy!

Yasawa Island Resort & Spa : Located in the sunniest and driest part of Fiji, Yasawa Island Resort & Spa is the only resort on Yasawa Island—which means guests here have 10 private beaches all to themselves. The all-inclusive resort boasts just 18 luxury bure suites and the honeymoon bure is hidden at the end of a deserted white beach with a horizon pool. The price includes half-day trips to the famed Blue Lagoon Caves as well as guided snorkeling trips.

French Polynesia Honeymoon Packages

Bora Bora honeymoon packages are highly-desired with airline partners often partnering with resorts to help ease the burden of long-haul travel from the US.

Le Taha'a by Pearl Resorts : With the island of Taha'a on one side, Bora Bora on the other and crystal-clear Tahitian waters all around, a stay in one of this resort's overwater bungalows is the perfect romantic honeymoon spot. You can choose a half-board package here—we recommend the spa offer for daily breakfast and one traditional Taurumi Polynesian massage per person

A woman swims through the crystal clear water of the Maldives.

There's so much to enjoy across Southeast Asia, especially for honeymooners seeking pristine beaches and culture. These regions provide the perfect combination of beauty, beaches and culture all in one romantic getaway. It's here that you'll find overwater bungalows galore (we're looking at you, Maldives). These bungalows are often perched above pristine waters, where honeymooners laze the day away on their daybed and take dips in the ocean via their private deck.

Maldives Honeymoon Packages

Thatched-roof, overwater bungalows with glass floors and utmost privacy are what most couples imagine when considering a Maldivian getaway. Most, however, walk away with far greater of an experience, especially if Maldives honeymoon packages are properly arranged well in advance.

Jumeirah Maldives Olhahali Island : To get to the Maldives, most couples from the US will have to experience a layover or two (often a prerequisite before landing at a fine destination worth visiting). Jumeirah is offering its dual-trip stopover package, which includes a two-night stay at the iconic Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Couples can get situated in the lap of luxury before flying to the Maldives, where they'll then enjoy four nights at the new Jumeirah property on Olhahali Island.

The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island : Arguably one of the most well-known properties in the region, the Conrad Maldives is located right along the South Ari Atoll. With 12 restaurants and bars, including the all-glass undersea restaurant Ithaa, as well as two spas, couples can find their ultimate honeymoon bliss. Specific packages for honeymooners are reserved, including private jet ski outings and more arranged by the concierge team. Inquire upon booking.

Huvafen Fushi Maldives : If you prefer your bungalow to come with its own private plunge pool, you're looking in the right place. At Huvafen Fushi Maldives, it feels as if it's just you, your new spouse and the fish (you'll see them via the glass floor in the Ocean Bungalow rooms). Honeymooners love the underwater spa, and a 60-minute treatment comes included in the resort's Romance package, which also includes a bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped fruits on arrival, daily breakfast (and one floating breakfast), a private four-course candlelit dinner and complimentary snorkeling equipment.

The sun rises over Makena Beach in Maui, Hawai'i.

Honeymooning stateside can be totally romantic. Be it a northern lights camp, a lush resort or a private island hotel, there are loads of options and vast lands to explore in the United States. Florida, a beach-lover's favorite, offers oceanside cottages that feel as if you've been transported to the South Pacific. And of course, there's Hawaii: a cluster of islands that's practically synonymous with jet-setting honeymoons—complete with fragrant floral leis, tropical mai tais, hula dancing, and some of the finest US honeymoon packages. Those who want more of an active, outdoorsy honeymoon should look north to Alaska for breathtakingly beautiful scenery. According to The Knot Honeymoon Study, approximately half of all couples in 2022 chose to honeymoon in the US. Considering the breadth of experiences and options available to newlyweds, it's a fair choice.

Alaska Honeymoon Packages

A view of the northern lights in Denali National Park, Alaska.

If the Northern Lights, wildlife sightings and fresh seafood are among your bucket-list items for the honeymoon, then an Alaska honeymoon package will serve you well.

Borealis Basecamp : Just 25 miles from Fairbanks, Alaska, Borealis Basecamp sits on 100 acres of boreal forest—but the real draw here is its clear-topped domes where honeymooners can watch the northern lights dance above them while snuggled up in bed. There are various autumn and winter packages available and, depending on which one you choose, activities such as an Alaskan dog sledding tour and meeting reindeer.

Stillpoint Lodge : At the foot of Kachemak Bay State Park, get lost in the remarkable Alaskan wilderness with a stay at Stillpoint Lodge. There are several packages to choose from here—we like the look of the Adventure package or the Nature & Nurture package for your honeymoon. Each package includes organic meals, one spa treatment per person and various activities like brown bear watching and guided eco-tours.

Florida Honeymoon Packages

A gorgeous aerial view of Clearwater Beach, Florida.

The peninsula is home to some of the most luxe resorts in the US, which means Florida honeymoon packages offer romance and amenities.

The Faena Hotel Miami Beach : The five-star property with prime beach access in Miami oozes romance. The Faena's "Suite Dreams" package includes two complimentary treatments at the spa, daily breakfast for two at the Poolside Veranda, a $200 resort credit, butler service for only certain suite tiers, early check-in and late check-out, complimentary valet parking, a welcome amenity, and a complimentary rollaway bed or crib (in case a little one is involved). Oh–and did we mention the suites are, indeed, a dream?

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa : This honeymoon resort may be located in Little Torch Key, Florida, but it feels more like the South Pacific. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, this oasis is plopped on a 5.5-acre private reserve and allows no more than 60 guests at one time. Here, thatched-roof private bungalows come equipped with private verandas, outdoor showers and beds draped in gauzy butterfly netting—but they're void of phones and television. The Culinary Paradise package will delight foodies with its welcome bottle of champagne, daily breakfast, three-course lunch, four-course dinner and $100 spa credit per person, per day.

Hawaii Honeymoon Packages

The sun sets over Wailea in Hawai'i.

Hawaii honeymoon packages are a must-consider for couples who want to indulge in all that the Aloha State has to offer. Between Maui's world-class resorts and Kauai's adventure offerings, there's no need to secure a visa when honeymooning in this domestic paradise.

The Westin Maui: Nestled right along a prime oceanfront area of Ka'anapali Beach, the resort's "Love Travels" package comes with accommodations in the renovated Hokupa'a luxury tower, which gives couples immediate access to the Lanai lounge. There, romance awaits with a private bar, plunge pool, daily breakfast and evening cocktails and demonstrations. The package also includes a signature couple's massage and dinner at the acclaimed restaurant Waicoco.

Koʻa Kea Resort on Poipu Beach : Poipu Beach is where the honeymooners flock for romance and gently lapping waves that crest on golden sand. Koʻa Kea's " Master of Moons " package is custom-tailored per couple as honeymoons have evolved into familymoons, bestiemoons and more. Booking include romantic experiences like candlelit dinners, sunset cruises, oceanfront massages at the spa, as well as horseback riding along the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail. Depending on the level of your package, you can also request a honeymoon photoshoot to document the gorgeous experience.

Las Vegas Honeymoon Packages

Foodies and nightlife-adoring couples who like variety will appreciate Las Vegas honeymoon packages. Consider the casinos and entertainment options as added amenities, though the F&B credits will especially do the trick.

The Venetian Resort: One of the higher-end properties in Sin City easily offers romance at every turn, especially with its views of Vegas, as well as its fine dining scene. Costco's package for suites , however, is one that should be seriously considered among couples who desire daily food and beverage credits, as well as complimentary parking.
