The experience of being at a performance and watching her perform is inspiring, AWESOME, FANTASTIC....if you have been through some things or you are just coming out of it, this Young lady with uplift your spirits and take you to a level of excitement that is completely Amazing. She touches you physically and she really enjoys performing for the people or her FAM as she calls us.... Just watching her come on to the stage or when the lights come on and there she is standing there BEAUTIFUL and ready to show us why we feel that she is number one in our lives as a VOCAL ANGEL... she had me spellbound at the beginning. Then she opens her mouth and you hear her BEAUTIFUL, POWERHOUSE VOICE - you find yours and yell as hard as you can to let her know that you appreciate GOD creating this Young lady and BLESSING her with it his voice to take you to another level..... The interaction between you and FANTASIA has you screaming reaching out your hand hoping that you can touch her and claim some of The Blessing and LOVE that you feel radiating throughout her....The first thing I thought during and after the performance was that, through all the pain and suffering that is going on in this WORLD , GOD HEARS US BECAUSE HE SENDS ANOINTED ANGELS LIKE FANTASIA... with a story that has had so much pain and hurt in her life to uplift us when we feel that it is just to much to bare to keep going keep praying and you can make it.... Fantasia Announces 2023 North American Tour Dates

Fantasia is going out on the road. The Grammy winner has announced tour dates, with the first stop on May 12 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, at Total Mortgage Arena.

From there, Fantasia will play in Los Angeles, Cleveland, New Orleans, Chicago, and Tampa.

A handful of Fantasia’s upcoming shows are festival dates, including the Mother’s Day Music Festival, Capital Jazz Fest and the Hampton Jazz Festival.

Additionally, R&B veteran Joe will support Fantasia on select dates where she headlines.

“Hey Fam – I’m coming to a city near you and can’t wait to vibe & have a good time with y’all,” Fantasia wrote in an Instagram caption.

Speaking of concerts, Fantasia was recently announced to headline Louisville Funk Fest on Sunday, June 17, at Waterfront Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

Jagged Edge, Ginuwine, Case, Sunshine Anderson and Cameo are also set to perform that evening.

Earlier this week, Fantasia appeared at CinemaCon in support of the press run for The Color Purple , the Warner Bros. musical adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1982 novel. She reprises her award-winning role as Celie for the production directed Blitz Bazawule.

The Color Purple is set to debut on Dec. 25, Christmas Day.

In music-related news, Fantasia’s fourth album, Side Effects of You , celebrated its 10th anniversary this month.

Harmony Samuels, who co-wrote and produced all but one track on the album, spoke exclusively to Rated R&B about the creation of the Grammy-nominated release.

“It was a magical moment in that period of time of us working. It was even magical when it came out because I watched someone who, behind closed doors, was met by defeat, met by criticism, met by blame, her trauma. And by the time we got through it, she was glorious. She was righteous. She was victorious. She was blessed. And then she rode off into the night on a white horse,” Samuels said of how he views Side Effects of You  a decade later. 

Fantasia hasn’t released a proper full-length album since 2019’s Sketchbook . The album, named one of Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2019 , included the hit single “ Enough ” and “ PTSD ” featuring T-Pain.

Taking to social media recently (as seen above), Fannie dropped the surprise news of her touring plans.

Bringing 7x GRAMMY-nominated R&B veteran Joe along for the ride on select dates, the jaunt is set to kick off May 12 in Bridgeport, Connecticut ahead of touching down in major U.S. markets like Los Angeles, New Orleans, Tampa, Chicago, and more. The outing is slated to wrap in Jacksonville on November 4 – just weeks before the Christmas premiere of ‘The Color Purple Musical’ (the diva’s first leading role in feature film).

Fantasia Announces 2022-2023 Tour Dates

Fantasia is hitting the road. The Grammy-winning singer has announced show dates that extend from the fall through winter. 

The tour begins on Nov. 10 at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey.

From there, Fantasia will play in various cities across the U.S., including Brooklyn, New York; Columbia, South Carolina; Oxon Hill, Maryland and more. 

She even has shows lined up in 2023, with more to be announced at a later date.

It’s been three years since Fantasia last released an album. Sketchbook , which she released independently on Rock Soul/BMG, debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. It sold 10,000 equivalent units in the first week of sales. 

Sketchbook included Fantasia’s radio hit “ Enough ,” which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. It spent 25 weeks on the chart.

The album also featured an appearance from T-Pain (“ PTSD “) and Mama Diane. The former track was reissued with a remix featuring Tank and the Bonfyre . Both artists, along with Robin Thicke, supported Fantasia on her headlining  Sketchbook Tour .

Music aside, Fantasia is keeping herself busy. She will star in the upcoming musical film The Color Purple  as Celie. She previously portrayed the character in the Broadway musical. 

“As I sit tonight and reflect on the journey my has taken, I believe I now understand what Redemption truly feels like,” said Fantasia.

“The last time I stepped into this character, the similarities between what I portrayed on stage and what I experienced in my own reality were too close for comfort. I’ve learned since then that my pain was only an introduction to a great purpose of meaning and assignment.”

She added, “I hope that every little black girl who is fighting to be heard and recognized also promises to never give up in spite of the costs. Now everyone who has been wondering why I’ve been missing and so quiet can see that I’ve been dedicating all of my time to All Things Purple! (Matthew 20:16).”

R&B singer Fantasia Barrino emerged into the limelight when she joined the reality competition series American Idol in 2004. She competed and won the grand finals, beating several other contestants. Shortly after winning the competition, Fantasia released her debut single, “I Believed,” topping the Billboard Hot 100 charts. In the same year, Fantasia dropped her debut album, Free Yourself. The platinum-selling album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album also garnered wide critical acclaim from fans and critics and earned three Grammy nominations. Fantasia continued her commercial success and released six more studio albums, making three number releases. Her 2010 album, Back To Me, earned Fantasia her first Grammy Award for Best R&B Female Vocal Performance. In 2019, she dropped her latest effort, Sketchbook, which peaked at number 5 on the Independent Albums chart.

American R&B singer-songwriter Joe is responsible for several massive hits, including “Stutter,” “Thank God I Found You,” “All The Things (Your Man Won’t Do),” “I Wanna Know,” and many more. The prolific singer has earned seven Grammy nominations, an ASCAP Award for “I Wanna Know,” and four Soul Train Music Award nominations. Joe has released 13 studio albums and gained wide critical acclaim. In 2000, Joe released one of his highest-charting albums, My Name Is Joe. The album, which spawned the hit “I Wanna Know,” earned a three-time platinum certification in the U.S. The album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and topped the R&B chart.
