This Cozumel off-road excursion includes a unique adventure into the center of the island to experience the natural beauty of the botanical oasis known as Jade Gardens and Cavern.

Our Cozumel All Terrain Xrail Buggies are fully automatic and can seat up to 4 passengers. This is not a ride for the faint of heart but is a very safe and secure adventure. If you can drive a car, you can drive an Xrail.

Upon your arrival to Jade Gardens, you can cool off by diving into the fresh emerald waters or simply relax as you take in the cavern’s unique formations and exotic surroundings. Floats are available for those taking the dip!

Following our stop a the Jade Gardens Cavern we jump back on the Xrail Buggy for another exciting 45 minutes ride back to the start of our tour.

You must be 16 years of age to drive our Cozumel All Terrain Vehicles, and you must present a valid driver’s license.

A true adventure into the heart of Cozumel's jungle, this excursion will take you through 10 miles of off-road trails that lead to the Jade cenote, where you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the freshwater just like the Mayans. After your swim in the cenote, you will travel through an ancient coral cave. Be prepared for a wild ride and to get dirty on the Cozumel Jungle Xrail Buggy to Jade Cavern and Cenote Swim Excursion.

Once your ship has docked in Cozumel you will meet your guide just a short taxi ride from your cruise terminal. Be sure you have on clothes that you do not mind getting dirty, which is part of the fun! The taxi ride is about a 20-minutes to the base camp, which is located in the oldest village on the island, El Cedral. Upon your arrival at the base camp, the bi-lingual expert Xrail shore excursion guides will show you all there is to know about operating the stick shift buggy. These are shared 4-person vehicles, however, you can reserve a buggy only for you so you don't have to share with anyone else, please see the price list for more information. Drivers can switch out duties mid-way. You need to be 18 years of age with a valid driver's license to operate the buggies (you will need to present your physical license, not a copy). Your guide will pass out helmets, goggles, and a bandana. There is one guide for every 12 guests. After your safety briefing, you are off into the jungle, following your guide over the trails.

Under the canopy of the jungle, the guide will lead you through miles of trails until you arrive at Jade Cavern, which is a freshwater cenote. Depending on the conditions, you can jump off the side of the cavern into the freshwater to refresh yourself in the crisp cool freshwater (subject to water conditions). The roots of the trees above stretch down through the limestone rocks to their source of freshwater deep below, surrounded by strangely shaped stalactites.

Turn your buggies around and head back to base camp, where you can relax. Afterward, the staff will assist you in calling a taxi that will bring you back to your original meeting location. For the taxi ride, you can expect to pay from $20.00 up to $40.00 each way depending on the group size.

Excursion Notes

• Closed-toe shoes are mandatory (no flip-flops or sandals).
• We recommend you wear sensible clothes that you do not mind getting wet or dirty.
• If you didn't buy the private buggy option others may be added to your vehicle to make a capacity of 4.
• Please remember to wear your swimsuit under your clothing if you would like to swim in a freshwater cenote.
• Note that the cenote is in a jungle setting and not a typical swimming pool. Depending on the conditions, you may not be able to swim in it.
• Bring along sun protective clothing, bug repellent, a towel, a change of clothes, and USD cash for the balance payment, sodas, souvenirs, photos, tips, etc.
• There are lockers available on-site at a nominal charge to secure your personal belongings.
• You can rent closed-toe sandals on-site, just inform your shore excursion guide so he can assist you.
• All guests must sign a waiver. Parents or guardians would sign on behalf of their children.
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if shore excursion requirements are not met.
• For the taxi fare, you can expect to pay from $20.00 up to $40.00 each way depending on the group size.

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum participation age for children on this Cozumel Buggy Excursion is 8 years and a minimum of 4 feet (1.22 meters) tall.
• Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• The Buggy minimum driving age is 18 years old. All drivers must have their valid driver's license physically with them and present it to the guide.
• Guests should wear closed-toe shoes/sports sandals for safety and comfort.
• The maximum weight per person is 320 lbs (145 Kg).
• Guests under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate and there will be NO refund. 
• The operator reserves the right to deny the service to any guest that shows any sign of having consumed alcohol prior to the excursion departure or all the conditions mentioned before.
• Guests with any of the following will not be allowed to participate: any mobility issues (no braces, wheelchairs, canes, walkers, scooters, etc), any limitation of motor skills involving movement or coordination of arms, legs, and other large body parts, pregnancy, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, respiratory conditions, any recent surgeries, bank/neck/limb/knee issues/injuries, blood pressure conditions, taking antidepressants/lithium/beta-blockers or vein constrictors.
• For safety reasons, the local operator does not allow cameras to be taken on the vehicles.
• There is zero tolerance for reckless driving. The guide has the right to stop the excursion and escort the guest of the tour. No refund will be issued. Guests are fully responsible for damages caused by reckless driving or negligence on their behalf.
• All participants must sign a shore excursion participation waiver.
• This Cozumel Jungle Xrail Buggy to Jade Cavern and Cenote Swim Excursion may involve risks. We suggest you check with your elected person of choice to see if these possible risks might affect you.

Excursion FAQ

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.

Come and enjoy a unique adventure in Cozumel. Your adventure starts with a journey to Punta Sur Park, this is the largest ecological reserve in Cozumel. Once we arrive to Punta Sur and Las Uvas Resort, you'll visit a museum, the "Celarain" lighthouse and a lagoon full of wildlife where you can even spot crocodiles.

Then is time for an adrenaline rush, get ready to enjoy a great ride through dusty trails, water holes, muddy terrains, bumps, ramps and more! You'll be behind the wheel of our all-terrain Cozumel manual dune buggy on a very exciting tour. Then through the coastal highway we'll head back to Playa Uvas, our exclusive Cozumel beach club. Once in the beach club, you'll enjoy great snorkeling and an underground visit to the rich marine life at the National Marine Park Reserve, while snorkeling on the world's second largest barrier reef! This tour can be muddy, or dusty, or both, depending on the amount it has rained recently.

At the jungle tour base in the south of the island.

For cruise passengers arriving to the Puerta Maya or International SSA piers the meeting point is about a 20 minute taxi ride (most Carnival, RCCL and some others).

For cruise passengers arriving to the Punta Langosta pier the meeting point is about a 25 minute taxi ride (most NCL , Disney and some others).

For guests staying downtown the meeting point is about a 25-30 minute taxi ride.

For guests staying in northern hotels the meeting point is a 30-40 minute taxi ride.

For guests staying in southern hotels the meeting point is a 10-20 minute taxi ride away.

Max weight 250lbs (113kg) per person

License: Full driver’s license valid in Mexico is mandatory (for example, temporary, provisional, learner, probationary and copies of licences/permits are not valid). If your license is not accepted then you will not be entitled to a refund, so if in any doubt please contact us before booking.

Lifevests are obligatory if you wish to swim at the cavern, please advise your guide at the beginning of the tour.

All vehicles are shared 4 seaters, according to the group’s size guests will share vehicles to capacity and drivers will take turns, unless you book a private vehicle.

For safety reasons no cameras are allowed in the tour.

Minimum 18 and maximum 70 years to drive. Minimum 8 years for passengers.

Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied, directly supervised and cared for by a responsible companion, parent or legal guardian who is 18 years or older at all times, and, if they wish to drive, they must produce a full valid driver’s license or permit.

The tour operator may charge for damage caused by the misuse of equipment.

ZERO ALCOHOL: Participants will be denied the service if they have drunk any alcohol before the tour.

This is a physically demanding tour, participants must be in excellent condition and guests with any of the following types of conditions are NOT allowed to participate: pregnancy, asthma, heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, respiratory conditions, blood pressure conditions, back/neck injuries, missing limbs or congenital disabilities, medicated/taking antidepressants, lithium, anxiety/panic attacks, beta-blockers or base (vein) constrictors, wheelchair users, or anyone with any type of walking difficulty.

There is a zero tolerance for drivers under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substance.

The vehicles are automatic but first time Xrail drivers might have difficulty controlling the Xrail at first, so a video lesson will be displayed and an escort guide is provided to give close attention.

There is zero tolerance for reckless driving that can put any of the guests at risk.

The tour operator reserves the right to stop the tour at any stage of the tour in case of anyone driving recklessly with no previous notice or refund.

All participants must be in good health and self-sufficient.

Participants must comply with all of the instructions given by the guide.

Only biodegradable sun block is permitted in order to protect the jungle and cenote ecosystem.

Refunds will not be made if the service is denied/cancelled due any of the reasons above.
