What is a world cruise?

Never mind the moniker, a world cruise may visit several continents but not circumnavigate the globe. Cruise lines usually designate one ship (a few offer two) to sail about 100 days or longer — some even sail more than 200 days — without repeating ports.

World cruises traditionally start in January and end around April or May. They sail round-trip from one American city, such as San Francisco or Miami, or offer a choice of starting points on both coasts, making access easy.

What to know about world cruises

With so few world cruises available, book far in advance. Bookings open roughly two years in advance, and some small-ship cruises sell out within hours. You'll need the extra time to make arrangements to leave your home for months. For that reason, this story will focus on 2025 world cruises.

Around-the-world cruise cost

Such lengthy sailings cost plenty. The bigger ship lines offer the lowest fares, although extra fees for what's not included (such as shore excursions and alcohol) can add up quickly. If contemplating a big-ship voyage, read the inclusions carefully, as they vary among lines.

Luxury vessels bundle many costly amenities into the fare, like business- or first-class plane tickets and luxury hotel stays, and charge the most. They also deliver fine dining, pampering service, glam surroundings and impressive special events. (Silversea Cruises has previously rented out an entire island to entertain its world cruise guests.)

Thus, expect considerable price differences. Count on spending about $20,000 per person minimum to score an entry-level accommodation on the bigger ships and approximately $80,000 to $90,000 per person for an ultraluxury vessel.

Note that for the poshest lines, "entry-level" may mean a spacious, elegant suite with a veranda. For other lines, the most basic cabin is a small, windowless room.

World Voyage

Thanks to an overwhelming response to its 2024 world cruise (which is currently waitlisted), Azamara announced itineraries for both 2025 and 2026, both aboard the 684-passenger Azamara Onward.

Azamara Onward is the newest ship to join the Miami-based line's four-vessel fleet. The ship's size provides an intimate experience and allows it to call on small towns bigger ships can't access.

For 2025, the 155-night, 37-country voyage begins in San Diego and ends in Southampton, England, with visits to exciting locales in French Polynesia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Italy, France and others.

Along the way, world cruisers can sample authentic Hawaiian cuisine; explore the unspoiled beaches and the lush rainforest on Stewart Island, New Zealand; and visit the world's largest Buddhist temple in Indonesia.

The itinerary will include a pre-sailing welcome party, exclusive cultural events, concierge service and other upscale perks.

The 2026 world cruise sets sail from Miami and concludes in Barcelona. The itinerary for this 155-night expedition features some of the world's most iconic landmarks and sites.

Cruisers will have the opportunity to explore the great pyramid of Kukulcan and other ancient Mayan sites in Chichen Itza, Mexico; wander among Rio de Janeiro's architectural gems and experience the awe of Iguazu Falls in Brazil; sample Peruvian cuisine and soak in the landscape of Machu Picchu in Cusco; scale the Great Wall of China; and enjoy other bucket-list worthy adventures.

Queen Anne's maiden World Voyage in 2025 will span 111 nights, beginning and ending in Hamburg, Germany. Along the way, guests can explore historic churches in the Old Town of Lubeck, Germany, a UNESCO World Heritage site; visit the historic city of Antigua, Guatemala's original capital; and indulge in retail therapy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's bustling shopping hub.

Grand World Voyage

Holland America 's 124-day Grand World Voyage on the 1,964-passenger Zuiderdam cruises round-trip from Fort Lauderdale. The enticing itinerary ventures far from Florida to must-visit cities such as Tokyo, Mumbai, Singapore and Istanbul. The ship will also traverse the Panama Canal.

Many included overnights allow opportunities to dive deep into local cultures and experiences. Spend extra time in Kobe, Japan; Hong Kong and Shanghai, China; and Singapore. As a bonus, Zuiderdam will take guests to incredibly remote locales, such as the Amazon.

MSC Cruises is doing something a little different with its 2025 world cruise. It's offering a choice of four embarkation ports — Rome and Genoa in Italy; Marseille, France; and Barcelona. Passengers will return to the same port they left from.

The 2,550-passenger MSC Magnifica is the home base for the 116-night journey. The itinerary features port calls at 50 destinations across 21 countries in the Mediterranean, South America, the South Pacific, Australia and Asia. Among the cities you'll explore are Puerto Madryn, Argentina; Rio de Janeiro; Casablanca, Morocco; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Phuket, Thailand; Broome, Australia; and Auckland.

Spend your port days ogling at Genoa's majestic Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Lawrence and Doge's Palace; exploring the peaceful mountaintop monastery in Montserrat, Spain; and wandering through the restored ceremonial village of Orongo, Rapa Nui (Easter Island), a World Heritage Site.

Oceania Cruises

The lovely 656-passenger Insignia sails a whopping 200 days from Miami to New York for Oceania Cruises ' 2025 world cruise. It might seem a long way away, but inside cabins and some suites are already waitlisted for the sailing.

Prepare to tear up any bucket list on a cruise this long. The ship begins in the balmy Caribbean islands, ventures to the Brazilian Amazon, explores more of South America and then heads off to Africa and Asia. Australia and New Zealand, Hawaii and Latin America round out the itinerary before Insignia circles back to the Caribbean (different ports on this end) and sails triumphantly back to Miami.

Oceania Cruises is renowned for fine dining. Expect to eat and drink exceptionally well on board.

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises promises an unforgettable journey on its 116-day world cruise sailing from Fort Lauderdale (or Los Angeles, as an alternative embarkation port) on the 2,200-passenger Island Princess.

This ship delivers many onboard activities like cooking and dance classes, trivia contests, enrichment programs and games of basketball, volleyball and tennis on the sports court. A putting green ensures golf games stay sharp.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises

World cruises prove perpetually popular on this ultraluxe line. They often sell out in the blink of an eye.

Availability is limited on the 2025 150-night world cruise on the 700-passenger Seven Seas Mariner, sailing round-trip from Miami to San Francisco. This itinerary includes cruising in Antarctica, the Chilean fjords, French Polynesia, Taipei and Bali.

Perhaps because its 2025 sailing is nearly sold out, Regent Seven Seas Cruises is one of the first cruise lines to announce its 2026 world voyage, also on Seven Seas Mariner.

This journey will be the line's longest, sailing for 154 nights and visiting 77 ports in 41 countries across six continents. The itinerary includes three new ports of call for Regent, including Lifou Island and Mare of the Loyalty Islands in the New Caledonia archipelago. Count on visiting 47 UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Australia's Great Barrier Reef and Robben Island in South Africa.

For all its around-the-world cruises, Regent piles on primo inclusions — first-class flights, unlimited shore excursions, luggage service, an open bar and a visa package are among countless amenities.

Departing from Los Angeles for a 149-night voyage, the ship will visit 35 countries and five continents before ending in Copenhagen. The itinerary features 80 port calls, more than any sailing in Silversea's history, and it will also include 20 new destinations for the line.

Passengers can enjoy extended time in select ports with 11 overnight calls in Honolulu; Cairns, Australia; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Cape Town, South Africa; and Bordeaux, France, among others.

The Three Oceans cruise departs Jan. 8, 2027. Prices will be available beginning from June 10, 2024.

Viking World Voyage II

Viking Ocean Cruises' epic 180-day voyage on Viking Sky departs from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in December 2024 and ends in New York in June 2025. The cruise is nearly sold out, including the least expensive Veranda Stateroom at $79,995 per person. Guests will visit 37 countries on six continents and have 83 guided tours in far-flung locales, from the South Pacific to Asia to the Middle East. Cruisers will also have overnights in some of the world's most fascinating cities, including London, Istanbul and Singapore.

This world cruise includes Viking 's mostly all-inclusive amenities. Fares cover all meals; wine, beer and soda at lunch and dinner; one complimentary excursion in every port; free Wi-Fi access; access to the spa and fitness center; enrichment lectures and destination performances; and other amenities. The line also runs world cruise promotions that may cover free business airfare and transfers, shore credits, shipboard credits, a beverage package and other perks.

A shorter, 138-day segment of the world cruise is also available. This voyage has the same departure date and port as the 180-day option, but guests will disembark on May 6, 2025, in London. In January 2025, Holland America Line will sail simultaneous world cruises of longer than 120 days for the first time in the line's history: this 124-day sailing and a 133-day "Pole-to-Pole" Grand World Voyage. The shorter 124-Day Grand World Voyage sails round-trip from Fort Lauderdale.

Both voyages aboard the 2,200-passenger Island Princess include 43 ports of call, with the earlier voyage transiting the Panama Canal before reaching Los Angeles.

Highlights include stops in Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Mauritius, South Africa, Namibia and Cape Verde. Then, it's off to exciting ports in the Mediterranean, such as Greece, Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro. Holland America's 133-day grand voyage is believed to be the first-ever pole-to-pole round-trip sailing from the U.S. The voyage aboard the 1,432-passenger Volendam will sail from Fort Lauderdale to the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Costa Rica before transiting the Panama Canal. Other ports of call in South America include Ecuador, Peru and Chile, where guests will get to experience scenic cruising in the Chilean fjords. The journey also offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to cross the infamous Drake Passage and see the surreal beauty of Antarctica.

After a stop in the Falkland Islands, the ship will return to South America with calls in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. After several ports of call in Africa and the Canary Islands, Volendam sails to Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The ship will then navigate the waterways in Northern Europe, the North Cape, Iceland, Greenland and Canada, before sailing along the East Coast of the U.S. toward Florida.

Frequently Asked Questions

Full itineraries for world cruises typically last anywhere from around 100 to 180 days, though Royal Caribbean International 's Serenade of the Seas is currently sailing the longest world cruise at 274 days. If you're not able to set sail for three to five months (or longer), some cruise lines also offer select, shorter segments of their full world cruise itineraries or grand voyages, which are typically two to three months in length.

World cruise fares can vary significantly between cruise lines. Some lines advertise cruise-only fares, which do not include meals at specialty restaurants, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, excursions, some entertainment, or other expenses. On top of that, many cruise lines' base prices exclude port fees and taxes. Given the length of a world cruise, even small expenses can add up after several months on the ship and in ports around the globe. Typically, travelers can expect to spend a base fare of about $15,000 for an inside cabin and as much as $90,000 (or more) for luxury accommodations and an all-inclusive fare.

If you're considering sailing beyond 2025, Regent Seven Seas Cruises recently announced its 140-night 2027 world cruise, World of Splendor, sailing from Miami to New York. The voyage embarks on Jan. 11, 2027, aboard Seven Seas Splendor , and prices start at $91,499 per person. If you want to reserve the over-the-top Regent Suite, you'll need to budget an unheard-of $1.7 million for two guests ($839,999 per person, to be exact).

Regent Seven Seas' all-inclusive fares include almost everything you could need, including door-to-door luggage service, first and business class airfare, pre-cruise gala events, exclusive shoreside experiences, unlimited dry cleaning and laundry, prepaid gratuities, meals, open bars and lounges, unlimited Wi-Fi access, and more. Silversea also offers door-to-door pricing that includes private executive transfers, international business class flights, pre- and post-cruise hotels and transfers, baggage valet, all meals and beverages, butler service, bespoke special events, and other amenities.

Depending on the cruise line, you may receive many additional perks when booking a full world cruise, including shore excursions. All-inclusive luxury lines like Silversea and Regent Seven Seas offer a list of complimentary shore excursions in every port. In addition, Silversea hosts a bon voyage reception, a private dinner and an overnight hotel stay for world cruise guests. It also features exclusive world cruise cultural events in ports around the globe. If you're sailing with Regent Seven Seas, you'll also have pre-cruise gala events and exclusive shoreside experiences throughout the cruise.

Special inclusions, upgrades and other amenities are available with other lines that are not all-inclusive. For example, guests on boutique cruise line Azamara's 2025 world cruise will receive $25,000 in benefits, including $3,000 for shore excursions, 13 exclusive events and much more. Oceania's " simply MORE" offer includes $8,200 in shore excursion credit, as well as many other amenities.

If you're sailing with a larger cruise line, it's also possible to find deals that may include shore excursions or onboard credit you can use for booking tours. Holland America Line offers guests an early booking bonus that includes a list of additional perks, including one complimentary shore excursion, $2,000 per person in onboard credit ($4,000 for solo travelers) and more. MSC Cruises includes 15 free shore excursions and other perks when you book its world cruise.

Royal Caribbean International's 274-night Ultimate World Cruise, which set sail in December 2023, will visit all seven continents before guests disembark in September 2024.

Holland America Line's 132-day Grand World Voyage cruise aboard Volendam in 2026 will also visit seven continents, circumnavigating the globe. The epic journey will include a four-day Antarctic experience.

It's not a 'shoot-from-the-hip decision': What to know about world cruises

Brandee Lake’s home address changes nearly every day.

The 46-year-old boarded Royal Caribbean International’s Ultimate World Cruise in December and will live on the line’s Serenade of the Seas for the nine-month journey .

Lake, who previously lived in Los Angeles, gave up her apartment and left a job in advertising and marketing to travel full time, embarking on a 274-night sailing to more than 60 countries alongside her sister and parents.

“I always tease that I only worked to travel anyway, that I worked to support my travel habit,” she told USA TODAY. “So, to me, it was a no-brainer.”

Lake, who had already visited 77 countries and lived abroad, decided to set sail and see even more of the world, and her parents gifted the cruise to her and her sister.

Videos about the Ultimate World Cruise proliferated on TikTok following its departure from Miami, but it’s not the first cruise of its kind. World cruises offer passengers an easy way to travel the globe, delivering them to a range of far-flung destinations.

But there’s more to booking those trips than other kinds of cruises. Here’s what to know:

What are world cruises?

World cruises visit multiple continents, usually no less than three. The itineraries last between three and five months on average but can be longer, according to Joanna Kuther, a travel agent and owner of Port Side Travel Consultants.

“You're in your room, and that's where you're going to be the whole time, and you're not flying around and packing and unpacking,” she said. While at a resort, guests might meet one another in passing, world cruise passengers are on the same itinerary for an extended period, which Kuther said can be “such a bonding experience.”

“I mean, I guess it could go sideways if it was horrible people,” she said. “But I think people usually find their people.”

For travelers who can’t – or would rather not – spend so much time at sea, many cruise lines also sell segments of those itineraries separately. That allows guests to embark for days, weeks, or months at a time and adds new faces to the mix.

World cruises also often take place on older ships, particularly on mainstream lines. "I don't think they'd want one of their newest ships out of commission for months," Kuther added.

How do cruise lines plan world cruises?

Mapping out so many months at sea can take years. Luxury line Silversea Cruises , for example, plans its world cruises three to four years in advance, according to spokesperson Brad Ball.

“Silversea has a team of destination experts that select destinations that are unique and culturally diverse,” he said in an email. The line, also part of Royal Caribbean Group, sailed its first world cruise in 2007 and works to create destination themes and make segments distinct.

Silversea’s 140-day The Curious and the Sea voyage aboard Silver Dawn in 2026, for example, features a 28-day exploration of French Polynesia and the South Pacific, a semi-circumnavigation of Australia over 21 days and more.

“We try to provision food items locally and source goods from the different regions we travel to as much as possible,” Ball added.

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said the cruise line took great pains to anticipate guests’ needs on the Ultimate World Cruise, even putting a dentist on board.

The line also threw a gala dinner for guests before they departed. “I said, ‘The only one thing that we've failed to do, and I apologize now, is we failed to put a marriage counselor on board,’ ” he said during a press briefing last month on the line’s newest ship, Icon of the Seas .

When should I book a world cruise?

Many cruise lines offer only one world cruise a year, and staterooms go fast. Michael Bray, owner of Braycation Travel, likened it to “a really cool house coming on the market.”

“The suites or larger cabins could go the fastest because folks want space,” he added. Bray said his clients have booked between 1 ½ to 2 ½ years out.

“People know they have to plan to be with their homes for six months,” Bray said. “They've got to shut down their homes. You've got to figure out medications, mail, family, so this is not a shoot-from-the-hip decision.”

Lake, the Ultimate World Cruise passenger, said she stored some of her belongings with a friend and packed the rest of what she needed.

Tips for taking a long cruise: What to know about sailing for 6 months or more

World cruises from lines like Cunard Line have long been popular, Kuther noted, but in recent years, more brands have leaned.

Royal Caribbean’s nine-month sailing is its first foray into the category, and Azamara is currently sailing its first world voyage since becoming an independent cruise line in 2021. Princess Cruises, which operated its first world cruise in 2008, also plans to sail its longest voyage ever (116 days) in 2025.

Kuther attributed that to a rise in remote-friendly jobs like content creation , particularly among younger people. “This ability to travel and work from wherever you are has opened up such a younger demographic and also more demand,” she said.

Ball at Silversea echoed that. “Over the past 15 years, we have seen increased demand for World Cruises, both from retired travelers as well as from working professionals and digital nomads,” he said. “Due to the advance of improved cellphone connectivity technology and onboard internet, more travelers are able to work remotely and better able to take longer voyages.”

How much do world cruises cost?

Starting prices for world cruises on mainstream lines can range from around $25,000 per person to $60,000 depending on the length, Kuther said. Luxury world cruises are likely to cost upward of $70,000.

Those prices will also likely include more than a typical cruise fare.

The fare for the entire Ultimate World Cruise – which started at around $54,000 for the full nine months – included gratuities, business class flights, Wi-Fi, wash-and-fold laundry service and more, according to Royal Caribbean’s website .

Luxury lines, which already bundle more costs with their base fares , may throw in extras too. Ball said travelers who book Silversea’s 2026 world cruise get $1,000 in onboard credit per person (up to $2,000 per suite), a spa treatment and other amenities.

For Lake, the trip is a chance to see new places – like Antarctica , which she “always wanted to do” but never thought she would – while spending quality time with family. No matter where they are in the world, she has a family dinner with her parents and sister every night.

“I think it's something that I'll look back on and never forget,” she said.

As for work after the cruise, she has no definitive plans, but has been posting about the trip on TikTok and is "enjoying the creator space."

"I am seeing where this adventure and the world takes me," Lake said.

This once-in-a-lifetime voyage gives you the option of taking one of four world cruise segments — for your own mini world cruise — or enjoying them all by spending 274 nights on the full cruise. And within the four world cruise segments, the cruises are divided into 17 sailings that you can mix and match.

Start your voyage in Miami on Dec. 10, 2023, and end your world cruise on Sept.10, 2024, in the same port. Of the 150 ports of call, 40 are either rarely available in Royal Caribbean Cruise itineraries or are brand new! With opportunities to see 11 world wonders and discover so many destinations, the world is your oyster!

Choosing Your world cruise Adventure

A s Dr. Seuss once wrote, "Oh, the places you'll go!" With world cruise segments, you can pick a part of the globe to explore in depth on a trip ranging from 62 to 88 days. Enjoy one, or choose a combination of segments for an ultimate around-the-world vacation.

The segments divide the globe into four geographic groupings as follows: the Ultimate Americas Cruise (sailing Dec. 10, 2023 to Feb. 11, 2024), the Ultimate Asia Pacific Cruise (sailing Feb. 11 to May 9, 2024), the Ultimate Middle East & Med Cruise (sailing May 9 to July 10, 2024) and the Ultimate Europe & Beyond Cruise (July 10 to Sept. 10, 2024).

This first of four world cruise segments, the Ultimate Americas Cruise, is a stunner. The sailing kicks off in Miami, so you don't even need to book a long fiight to begin your adventure. As part of the itinerary, you'll sail the turquoise waters of the Caribbean and enjoy the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao), chill out on Barbados' talcum-like beaches before journeying around Cape Horn toward the glacier-studded waters of Antarctica. Bundle up, as this is the world's coldest continent. While there, you can watch whales display their aquatic power as they breach the surface. Closer to shore, you'll see penguins dart through the icy waters.

As you move on to warmer climates, you can take in the art deco Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro just in time for New Year's Eve. Dance the samba in Bahia, Brazil and marvel at nature's majesty at any one of the 257 waterfalls that comprise the Iguaçú Falls in Argentina. The world wonders continue with the ancient Mayan ruins of Mexico's Chichén Itzá or the former Incan citadel in Peru's UNESCO World Heritage Site, Machu Picchu.

North of this, birdwatchers feast their eyes on a plethora of tropical hummingbirds and rare species in Costa Rican rainforests — or go surfing in Central American hot spot San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. Try top-notch vintages to go with your fresh fish tacos at one of many vineyards in Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, and then head to  Los Angeles , where this segment ends. If you weren't counting, that's four world wonders on offer on this leg of the world cruise alone — and no international flights required.

If you choose to book the second segment, the Ultimate Asia Pacific Cruise, you'll bid star-studded La-La Land goodbye, setting off on an itinerary that starts with Hawaii and its dramatic volcanic black beaches and white-capped waves. Tour the Pearl Harbor National Memorial to learn more about one of the most pivotal moments in U.S. history. Take in a luau and visit the Iolani Palace, where the Hawaiian royal family once resided. In French Polynesia, enjoy a traditional Tahitian dance and a mai tai cocktail and be mesmerized by the sapphire waters of Moorea. Drift past lush mountain peaks and sparkling white beaches in Tahiti. Indulge your inner daredevil in New Zealand with adrenaline-spiking outdoor sports — such as bungee jumping and zorbing — and learn about native Maori culture before heading to  Australia . There, one of the world's best-known natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef, awaits with a kaleidoscopic array of over 1,500 kinds of fish in addition to other marine life and coral.

You'll continue to Asia, where the beaches of Bali beckon, as do the bustling metropolises of Hong Kong, Manila in the Philippines, and Seoul, Korea. Walk along part of the 13,000-mile ancient Great Wall of China, explore Beijing and immerse yourself in the electric vibe of Tokyo. Hike Mount Fuji in Japan or take part in  shinrin-yoku  (forest bathing) near the famed Meiji Shrine. Explore swanky Singapore, eat at hawker markets, slurp noodle dishes in Malaysia, enjoy a spicy curry in Sri Lanka and take a bite of a bahn mi sandwich in Vietnam. Pay your respects to love at India's iconic Taj Mahal before passing through Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates en route to the modern marvel that is Dubai, where this world cruise segment concludes.

Around-The-World Cruise Perks And Tips

Travelers who book the Ultimate World Cruise℠ get perks that aren't usually included. To ensure your home base onboard the Serenade of the Seas is picture-perfect on your around-the-world vacation, you'll enjoy wash-and-fold laundry service for up to three bags per stateroom per week, a deluxe beverage package per guest, gratuities and a VOOM® Surf + Stream  high speed internet package for two devices per stateroom. Also included in this adventure is a pre-cruise two-night stay and gala/dinner party at the InterContinental Miami, roundtrip business class airfare to get you to and from port, premium transportation from the airport to your hotel and the pier, as well as added perks for Crown & Anchor Society members.

Packing can be a challenge when you're visiting so many different parts of the world, but it's a challenge most travelers would relish. Depending on the world cruise segments you choose, it's best to bring a range of clothing to suit the various climates you will visit. For example, for the Ultimate Americas leg, temperatures fluctuate from tropical to cold and windy. You'll want to bring layers to build warmth, waterproof gear, as well as gloves that work with touchscreens if you're planning photographic magic. You'll also need to bring along cool cottons and linens to stay comfortable in the warmer climates. We also suggest packing some seasickness medication — just in case.

Best of all, the Royal Caribbean Cruise team will work with you to make every effort to secure the same stateroom for your entire cruise so you will only have to unpack once. This is, of course, based on the inventory available since this cruise started booking in November 2021.

To reserve the enture once-in-a-lifetime Ultimate World Cruise℠ or a segment, a nonrefundable deposit is required, with full payment received by Royal Caribbean 180 days prior to departure. Bookings made within 180 days prior to cruise departure will need to be paid in full within 48 hours of booking. Interior staterooms start at $59,999 per person, excluding taxes, fees and port expenses; up to a starting price of $82,949 for a balcony staterooms. Junior suites start at $117,599. If you choose to pay in full, there's a 10% savings.

The third segment of the around-the-world vacation, Ultimate Middle East & Med Cruise, lasts 63 days and covers three continents along with 44 destinations — many of which are thrilling bucket-list spots. Departing from dazzling Dubai, you'll have roamed near-mystical desert dunes or shopped the gold souks for that just-right bling. Behold one of the most stunning world wonders, Jordan's rose-colored ancient city of Petra; Oman's beautiful beaches; and enthralling Egyptian pyramids. The holy city of Jerusalem and the Eastern Mediterranean await, with Cypriot castles, the Temple of Artemis in Turkey, beautiful Bulgarian Byzantine architecture and Romanian vineyards with vines dating back over 6,000 years. Take in Istanbul's cafe life, shopping and culture.

Get your camera ready for stunning golden-hour vistas on whitewashed Greek Islands amid the crystalline Aegean Sea; grab a gondola for a ride through Venice, Italy's many canals; and stroll the marble streets of Croatia's Adriatic jewel, Dubrovnik. Wander Rome's Colosseum in Italy, enjoy the city's famous carbonara pasta, revel in the French Riviera and sail toward Mallorca. You'll end in one of the most beautiful cities by the sea, Barcelona, Spain, where you can admire the work of one of Catalonia's famed architects, Antoni Gaudí's Sagrada Familia cathedral.

The final around-the-world cruise leg, Ultimate Europe & Beyond Cruise, departs from  Barcelona  and heads south to the Spanish cities of Valencia (fun fact: The rice dish called  paella  comes from this city) and Cartagena. The latter offers you the opportunity to visit Roman theaters dating back to 1 AD. Cruise the famed Strait of Gibraltar as you head to North Africa. Morocco's Casablanca, made famous by the movie of the same name, and Agadir await, as do the country's majestic Atlas Mountains. You'll head to Atlantic Portugal, where the country's  azulejos  (hand-painted tiles) adorn everything from shop and home façades to train stations in Lisbon. Don't forget to sample a  pastéis de nata  (custard tart), made famous in this city, and indulge in port wine, sourced regionally from Porto, Portugal. Next, kiss the Blarney Stone in Cork, Ireland, order a pint at a local pub and go on to enjoy the sparkling city of Paris, laid out before you from atop the Eiffel Tower. Have a café crème before sailing to the English port city of Southampton, from which the Titanic departed.

From there, head north to design-centric Copenhagen, Denmark, behold fairy-tale-looking fjords in Norway and explore the cobblestone-lined medieval Old Town in Stockholm, Sweden. Take part in Swedish  fika , the country's coffee break tradition that includes cardamom-spiced baked treats. This adventure wouldn't be complete without a stop in bohemian Berlin or the Baltic shores of Estonia and Lithuania. Soak in Iceland's geothermal waters at the Blue Lagoon. Head west and behold breaching humpback whales off the shores of Canada's furthest eastern landmass, Newfoundland. Make your way from beautifully rugged Atlantic Canada to the Big Apple itself, New York City, with its bright lights and Broadway spectacles. Wind down on the pink sandy beaches of Bermuda and return to subtropical Miami, where your world cruise comes to a heady close.

9 new around-the-world cruises have joined Royal Caribbean's Ultimate World Cruise at sea. See what they're like — from a sold-out 6-month luxury cruise to a cheaper $21,100 option.

The Seven Seas just got a bit more crowded: Nine new world cruises have recently set sail, joining Royal Caribbean's ongoing Ultimate World Cruise in a quest to travel around the world in 2024.

TikTok has developed an obsession with Royal Caribbean's nine-month vacation . But it's not the only one of its kind — nor was it the most in-demand.

In 2021 and 2022, other operators also announced their global cruises, with one selling out 30 minutes after it was offered. Since the start of the new year, nine of these have already embarked. Take a look at which ones.

Oceania Cruises — the premium $48,500 six-month option

Oceania's 2024 world cruise was so hot that it sold out 30 minutes after reservations opened in March 2022, the premium cruise line said at the time.

After almost two years of waiting, these travelers finally set sail from Los Angeles on January 14. For the next 180 days, the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings subsidiary says the Insignia is set to sail to 96 ports in 34 countries.

The vessel is now on its way to Hawaii, the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Canada, according to its world cruise itinerary . This includes 24 expected overnight stays in destinations like Yangon, Myanmar, and Reykjavik, Iceland.

Oceania's cabins started at $48,500 per person.

Regent Seven Seas Seas Cruises — NCLH's $73,500 ultra-luxury 4 ½-month cruise

On January 6, the Seven Seas Mariner departed Miami on a roundtrip 132-night global expedition . Through May 17, the ship is set to stop at 66 ports in 31 countries — sailing to expected destinations in Central America, Hawaii, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Bermuda.

Fares started at $73,500 per person for Regent Seven Seas' basic suite . Too cheap? The most luxurious 2,000-square-foot accommodation had a $200,000-per-person price tag.

Like Oceania, these fares didn't stop travelers from flocking to the luxury cruise . The ship was fully reserved in less than three hours when bookings opened in July 2021, Regent Seven Seas said at the time.

Azamara — a private equity-owned $39,000, five-month sailing

Azamara's sold-out 2024 world cruise departed on January 5 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Over the next 155 nights, the Azamara Onward plans to stop in 40 countries across Central and South America, the Pacific islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe before concluding in Barcelona.

There are 22 overnights scheduled throughout this world tour .

The private equity-owned cruise line's 2024 global adventure started at $39,000 per person for the windowless interior cabin. Travelers who prefer to cruise in luxury would've paid $157,000 per person for the highest-end suite.

Silversea Cruises — Royal Caribbean Group's $66,000 4 ½-month world cruise

Ultra-luxury Silversea's 2024 global vacation set sail on January 15 from San Francisco. Through May 26, the Silver Shadow is scheduled to see 65 ports in 14 countries.

Unlike most world cruise itineraries, this one is scheduled to spend most of its 132 nights traversing the Pacific Ocean, sailing to the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Southeast and East Asia, Alaska, and Canada before returning to San Francisco.

Silversea's fares started at $66,000 per person for the least expensive vista suite, cheaper than Regent Seven Seas' cruise of the same length.

Princess Cruises — Carnival Corp's almost four-month $21,100 vacation

On January 4, the Island Princess embarked on its 111-day world cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a second pickup scheduled in Los Angeles on Thursday. From there, travelers are expected to get to see 51 destinations in 27 countries across Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Europe, and the Americas, according to the Carnival Corp brand.

Fares started at almost $21,100 per person.

Regret not going on Princess' world cruise? There's another chance: The cruise line's second 2024 global itinerary is sailing in late April.

Seabourn Cruise Line — Carnival Corp's almost 5-month $74,300 itinerary

It seems like every major cruise giant has an ultra-luxury brand. Carnival Corp's is Seabourn — and on January 11, the Seabourn Sojourn departed Los Angeles on a 145-day, 72-port, 28-country cruise.

The sailing is set to conclude in Piraeus, Greece, near Athens, on June 5. Along the way, the itinerary shows the Seabourn Sojourn traveling east to destinations like Hawaii, Australia, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Egypt, and Jordan.

The Sojourn is scheduled for 20 overnights in destinations like Cairns, Australia, and Honolulu.

Fares started at $74,300 per person.

Cunard — A 3 ½- and four-month cruise from Carnival Corp's UK-based operator

Luxury operator Cunard has two 2024 "world voyage" itineraries: 123 nights on the Queen Mary 2 and 107 nights on the Queen Victoria.

Queen Mary 2's four-month roundtrip New York City voyage departed on January 3, sailing east to 32 ports in the UK, Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia, and the Middle East, according to its itinerary.

Eight days later, the Queen Victoria also began its 3 ½-month roundtrip Southhampton, UK journey. According to the UK-based operator, the ocean liner is set to sail west to 29 ports in Bermuda, Aruba, Central and North America, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Cunard did not immediately respond to Business Insider's inquiry about its fares.

Holland America Line — the four-month roundtrip Florida cruise

On January 3, Holland America Line's world cruise guests would've moved onto the Zuiderdam to spend the next 127 nights circumnavigating the globe, according to the operator's itinerary.

This roundtrip Fort Lauderdale, Florida cruise is scheduled for 46 ports in the Caribbean, Central and South America, the Pacific Islands, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Holland America did not immediately respond to Business Insider's inquiry about the itinerary's fares.
