The winner of Miss Tourism International 2022 Marima Suphatra Kliangprom was 4th Runner-up at Miss Grand Thailand 2022.

Congratulations to the winners especially to our very own, Angelica Pantaliano

so , is this another pageant held in Thailand ? … it’s a shame the two most populous countries , China and India , are not that much into pageants , just imagine if pageants became very very popular in those two markets …

Kucing, the capital of Sarawak. The pageant is Malaysia-based.

India, not into pageants? Here’s the thing. Mas malaki pa, ‘ata, prize package sa Nationals nila kaysa sa makukuha nila in the international… So, hindi na, lang, sila maingay.

China. Nothing ‘national~international’ happens without the blessings of the Party. That being said, once that is given, PRACTICALLY LIMITLESS.

Compared to Latin America and SE Asia fanatics, India & China are tiny. Miss World was kind of smart in courting China and having the pageant held there several times and crowning a couple of Miss China winners, so I guess Miss Universe is much much less popular in China compared to Miss World. The new MUorg owner will have a lot of work to do to upsize and upscale the MU pageant market

India is quite different, though they have been successful in both MU and MW, it has not served as host for neither of the pageants. The fan base in India is very tricky because of the multi-religious mix of the country, you have several hundred million Moslem, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Christians who will always have different views about beauty pageants and women in society in general, will be difficult even for the new MUO owner

I get this feeling the two big countries refuse to engage MU as it is now. Maybe, they have very high expectations, kasi iisipin, “kung ganyan rin lang, mas matino, pa, pageant ko”.

Did you see that India -based news channel on YouTube? Nanalo na, nga, sila (c/o Haarnaz),… 😦

Same news channel gave perspective on their SARS-CoV2 national vaccination efforts. Quite quickly, they jabbed 100m people. You’d think, wow! Then they reveal that with a population of 1+B, that’s only 10% of the populace, certainly nothing near herd immunity. But, just for the sake of argument if MUO’s Indian licensee just focuses on, say, Hindus & Christians, ta’s sa mga relatively secular areas like Mumbai (or, what MUP would designate as HUCC’s to target for licensing/partner accreditation), how hard could it be?

But, yes. SCOPE & SCALE ang kailangan’g maipakita ng bago’ng May-ari para mahikayat ang dalawa na sumali sa paligsahan… 🙂

(Of course, it may have simply been that both countries’ leaders in politics & the economy didn’t want to have any dealings with the former owners of MU. ‘Eh, ‘pag ganu’n wala na tayo’ng magagawa.)

Congratulations! An EYE-PLEASING Court (1st photo) in red, green, blue, gold, & silver.

(The winner looks mixed-race, no? I was, in the last few days, thinking of MUT’s Eurasian Runners-up like Kim Docekalova & the Vonzurmuelen-I-forgot-her-first-name-sorry.)

Honga, pala. Sa Kucing ang venue, kaya ‘Best in Cat’s Portrait’. 🙂

Mr. Blogger, good day! The other Tourism – World – kailan, po, ang Finale (Felizarta)?

Compliance status

We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability.

To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.

This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.

Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.

If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:

Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.

These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.

Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.

Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Disability profiles supported in our website

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
  • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
  • Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
  • ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
  • Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

  • Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
  • Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over seven different coloring options.
  • Animations – person with epilepsy can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
  • Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
  • Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
  • Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
  • Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

Browser and assistive technology compatibility

We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers).

Notes, comments, and feedback

Despite our very best efforts to allow anybody to adjust the website to their needs. There may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or are lacking an adequate technological solution to make them accessible. Still, we are continually improving our accessibility, adding, updating and improving its options and features, and developing and adopting new technologies. All this is meant to reach the optimal level of accessibility, following technological advancements. For any assistance, please reach out to

Prior to the coronation of the new queen, delegates engaged in a 16-day promotional visits to several tourist attractions, including Bau and Lundu.

Organised by D’Touch International, Miss Tourism International was first held in Kuching, Sarawak in 1994.

After 28 years, Kuching was given the opportunity to host the Silver Jubilee celebration.

The pageant was mooted by its president Tan Sri Danny Ooi to channel tourism in order to create and foster new relationships among participating countries through closer understanding of one another’s national cultures, customs and traditions.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state has a lot to offer and always been open to building good relationships with the world, be it international friendships, cultural exchange, or tourism-related activities.

Abang Johari’s speech was read by Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Datuk Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“This event brings the world to Sarawak, simultaneously promoting tourism, culture, and friendship through a series of activities lasting for 18 days in total.

“After two years of movement control order (MCO), we are now slowly getting back to the norm where we can interact with each other more conveniently and more frequently, though with all precautions and measurements taken into consideration.

“After the opening of traveling locally, and the gradual opening-up of international borders, we are expecting more tourists and visitors to Sarawak. We not only focus on the conventional tourism, but also putting effort into growing other activities in bringing in more people to Sarawak, for instance, business events,” he said. — DayakDaily

KUCHING (Feb 23): The 25th Miss Tourism International 2022 World Final will be held from Nov 13 to 27 in Sarawak, with the grand Coronation Night on Nov 25 in Kuching.

During the World Final, Miss Tourism International (MTI) will be introducing its very own non-fungible token (NFT) and the setting up of MTI Pageants Foundation to support women in career advancement and empowerment of women worldwide.

“As Miss Tourism International is celebrating its Silver Jubilee, it is aptly to bring this 25th Miss Tourism International back to Sarawak, Land of the Hornbills, to celebrate this momentous occasion,” said Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Abdul Karim, who is advisor to the World Final this year, believed Sarawak would play a great host to the delegates from 60 countries around the world to participate in the beauty pageant, as well as becoming an ambassador to promote Sarawak’s tourism experience.

He pointed out the tourism sector was beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel after two years of being badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With more borders opening and stringent measures of health and safety, I am very confident that 2022 will be a great year to open our doors again to welcome visitors to Sarawak.

“The hosting of this 25th Miss Tourism International World Final is indeed timely in promotion of tourism for the state as well as for the country,” said Abdul Karim during the official launching of the beauty pageant at a hotel here yesterday.

Organising chairwoman and YAST Group founder Esther Law said the MTI beauty pageant, celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year since its inception in 1994, is a platform for women to showcase not only their beauty but their wisdom and friendliness.

“This year, we aim to introduce a range of engaging and thrilling activities by riding upon the rich heritage that Sarawak is well-known for, by focusing on its People, Prosperity and Partnership.”

Law hoped the event would create a ripple effect for the tourism development of the state and a line-up of pre and post-events will be organised for the World Final.

“As Anak Sarawak, I will strive to make this event a memorable and impactful one as I am confident that this event will not only be able to benefit the participating delegates, but this event will set forth a ripple effect.”

MTI president Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi highlighted that the inaugural World Final of MTI was in fact hosted in Kuching back in 1994 and Australia was the first country to win the coveted title Miss Tourism International 1994.

“What a memorable event it will be hosting the Silver Jubilee of MTI. I believe with the support of the state government and the sponsors, Sarawak will play a great host welcoming 60 countries from around the world,” said Ooi.

He added that MTI Pageant NFTs will be first-of-its-kind in the world and it will be backed by Quantum Metal Gold.

Seven of the Reigning Queens of 2021 will be first batch of NFTs to be featured, followed by the 60 country delegates from the 2022 World Final.

“After over two years of facing the pandemic, with international borders slowly opening up, it is apt and timely for our country to host an event of this magnitude, to promote tourism for Sarawak and the country as a whole,” said Ooi.

The main organiser for 25th Miss Tourism International 2022 World Final this year is YAST Group in collaboration with D’Touch International.

The theme is ‘Bringing Sarawak to the World’, with the mission of ‘Promoting Tourism, Culture and Friendship’.

The beauty pageant will entail 18 days of continuous events, including promotional tours in Sarawak, charity visits and sponsorship activities.

Among those in attendance during the launching ceremony were the ministry’s permanent secretary Hii Chang Kee, Kuching North Datuk Bandar Datu Junaidi Reduan, Kuching South mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng and Quantum Metal Gold founder Dato Lim Khong Soon.

Others included Miss Malaysia Tourism 2021, How Zo Ee; Miss Malaysia Tourism 2015, Xandria Ban; and Miss Malaysia Tourism 1994, Datin Emelia Rosnaida.

PH bets score back-to-back wins in international tilts in Malaysia, Thailand

MANILA, Philippines — Two Filipino contenders posted back-to-back victories for the country in separate international competitions held in neighboring Southeast Asian countries in the same evening on Saturday, Nov. 25.

RJ De Vera scored a second consecutive win for the Philippines in just the second edition of the Man Hot Star International contest held at the Sansuk Grand Hall of Bangsaen Heritage Hotel in Chon Buri, Thailand. He succeeded his Misters of Filipinas predecessor Jovy Bequillo who won in the global tilt’s inaugural search held last year.

Just hours after De Vera’s triumph, Mutya ng Pilipinas Jeanette Reyes inherited the Miss Tourism Metropolitan International crown from Filipino queen Angelica Pantaliano at the 2023 Miss Tourism International pageant held at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Sabah, Malaysia. The new queen was also proclaimed as Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress.

Thailand, meanwhile, also scored back-to-back finishes when Tia Li Taveepanichpan inherited the top title of Miss Tourism International from her compatriot Suphatra Kliangprom who won in last year’s competition.

Another Filipino contender finished second in the 2023 Man Hot Star International competition, Kristzan Karlo Delos Santos, who represented the United States in the global tilt. He was also first runner-up in the 2022 Mister Grand International contest held in Trinidad and Tobago, where he represented the Philippines.

Three other queens were crowned at the 2023 Miss Tourism International pageant — Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International Emily Cossey from the United Kingdom, Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International Jen Cheang Shi Hui from Malaysia, and Miss Tourism Global Karlee Davis from Australia

Reyes’ accomplishment sustained the Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant’s target of scoring a grand slam this year, aiming to earn international titles from all of the representatives deployed in 2023. Before her, Annie Uson and Shannon Robinson were crowned Miss Chinese World and Miss Environment International, respectively.

The Philippines has also asserted its dominance in the Malaysia-based Miss Tourism International pageant, being the best-performing country with five top winners — Peachy Manzano in 2000, the late Rizzini Alexis Gomez in 2013, Angeli Dione Gomez in 2014, TV5 news anchor Jannie Loudette Alipo-on in 2017, and Cyrille Payumo in 2019.

Several other Mutya queens also scored subsidiary titles other than Reyes and Pantaliano. Glennifer Perido was also crowned Miss Tourism Metropolitan International in 2014, the same title the two recent queens received. Kapamilya actress and host Aya Fernandez was proclaimed Dreamgirl of the Year International in 2018, while A2Z News Director Barbie Salvador-Muhlach was hailed as Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan in 2010.

Guest of Honor, YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, YBhg Datu Haji Junaidi bin Haji Reduan (Mayor of Kuching North), Dato Wee Hong Seng (Mayor of Kuching South City Council) Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi, President of Miss Tourism International, Mr. Hii Chang Kee Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Our 3 Gorgeous Miss Malaysia Tourism, Distinguished Guests, Members of the Media, Ladies and Gentlemen

Welcome to the launching ceremony of the 25th Miss Tourism International 2022.

It is indeed my honour and privilege to be blessed with the opportunity to act as the OC for this meaningful, international event that is to be held in my homeland, Kuching.

The 25th Anniversary, or the Silver Jubilee of Miss Tourism International, indicates Miss Tourism International’s strong and durable foundation—a remarkable milestone that validates the hard work and persistency of the man who established Miss Tourism International and that is none other than our respected Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi; a man that successfully created a platform for woman with REAL dreams.

I am deeply moved and driven by Tan Sri’s dedication for he has been crafting this unique platform that empowers women to advocate for the value of Friendship and Culture through Tourism.

Through this platform, women with not only beauty but wisdom and friendliness can no doubt present themselves and lead internationally through a series of sustainable activities subsequently introduced over the past 25 years.

This year, we aim to introduce a range of engaging and thrilling activities by riding upon the rich heritage Sarawak is well-known for, by focusing on People, Prosperity, and Partnership, with a touch of digitalization to bring the world to Sarawak. Several remarkable activities will be initiated consequently throughout the year as we count down to our Grand Finale in November. A pre-event and post-event line up that is going to bring sustainable development to the world as a whole.

It was honestly beyond my expectation to be entrusted with this honour to organize this event as it was merely through a casual phone call between Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi and I that marked the start of our journey of bringing the world to Sarawak. I can still remember Tan Sri said, “Esther, you may want to consider leading to organize this event in Kuching”, I responded, “why not?”. A series of deep thought and conversation followed, and official agreements were signed on the 11th days after our conversation. The decision was reached on the basis that Miss Tourism International theme is coherent to YAST Group’s approach, where we invest for prosperity, develop for sustainability, and serve for humanity.

I told Tan Sri, we are ready for this special event, as we are fully prepared with the funding and resources to make it one of the grandest events in Kuching, Sarawak.

Not only that, this is also one of my good friends’ brand and event, hence, bringing this prestigious event back to Kuching, Sarawak, I believe, would mean a lot to this amazing friend of mine.

As Anak Sarawak I will strive to make this event a memorable and impactful one as I am confident that this event will not only be able to benefit the participating delegates, but this event will set forth a ripple effect which is capable of transferring the benefits from one to another and achieving an all-rounded and long-lasting impact that shall persist even after the end of Miss Tourism International 2022.

To all the merchants, service providers and related stakeholders, this is something we can do to restore life and the vibrant energy back into our economy, tourism sector and commercial industry especially after the pandemic.

To all Sarawakians, this is once again an opportunity to welcome the world to our rich heritage and cultural resources that we, as anak Sarawak could, can and will forever be proud of.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Tan Sri for entrusting me as the Organising Chairlady. Thank you Tan Sri for your trust in me.

Thanks to our Advisor, YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim for your presence today as our Guest of Honor YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim is indeed a very dedicated and caring leader for our Sarawakian community.

To Our Mayors , YBhg Datu Haji Junaidi and Dato Wee Hong Seng , appreciate your presence, and the support rendered to us.
