Local Owners

Chris and Christine Pieck are the owners, and they love bikes! Christine is a Massage Therapist who rides mountain, road and family bikes. She spends most of her time tending to the future owners of the bike shop, Danielle and Julia. Those that are in the shop often see them helping at events or riding their bikes around. Chris is the bikes for life kind of guy who has been working on bikes since he was big enough to use tools. He started working in a shop in Schenectady, NY in the mid ‘90s. Several years later, he moved down to Baltimore, MD where he found work in a shop as mechanic and got to work with Trek VW racing team. In 2002, he started working at Trek Corporate. It was there that he set up shop and started answering phones for Trek and working with dealers all around the country. The final move was in 2010, when Chris and his family moved down to Greensboro, NC to open up the Trek Bicycle Store Greensboro.

Since opening, the shop and business have grown quickly. We have discovered the cycling community here in Greensboro is close, and we are here to serve your cycling needs! Come on in to the store and ask questions. Bring your bike if you need service! Once you come into the store you will realize that you have found the best service available in the Triad! You will not be disappointed.

Steve Hudson

Steve has been at the store since day one. He is a roadie all the way with a passion for touring with solid commuting miles in fair weather. He is our ride leader for the C ride on Saturdays in season and he is usually riding on a steel steed. Steve is from Alamance County, served in the USAF from 75-79 and considers himself a local, organic cyclist. His favorite food is beer and his favorite recovery drink is beer. Steve would like to ride across America at some point and his motto is “15.2," which refers to the speed he travels. Come on in and test your knowledge of the local roads and weather forecast with Steve.

Stamps Transou

Stamps is easily a mountain biker through and through. His favorite trail is anything in Pisgah, where after a day of riding you can catch him eating Sushi and searching for a Dales Pale Ale. If you are from the area, you know Stamps won’t have to search long for the Dales. But good sushi on the other hand, isn’t too easy to come by. Stamps attended Guilford College and has a degree in Pottery but found his love in wrenching on bicycles. His favorite bike currently is a Trek Fuel Ex 9 and when he is not riding, he is rapping about how he is going to get out on his next ride.

BIKE CHECK: the CiclaMILAN bike

Here is Trek's latest Project One creation, made to celebrate the victory of the ciclamino jersey at the Giro d'Italia 2024

Today, Sunday the 26th, on the glorious streets of Rome shines a unique, special bike. Sat on the saddle is Jonny Milan, the rider who proudly wears the points jersey of the 2024 edition of the Corsa Rosa. For the Lidl-Trek rider, that’s the second jersey in two years. The Bull of Buja, surrounded by his teammates, is a cyclamen-colored beacon in the middle of the peloton.

Trek decided to pay homage to this success, which is the result of the strength of an amazing team effort and which produced 3 victories, with a one-of-a-kind custom design. The painwork bears the names of the Lidl-Trek Giro team and a greeting in Italian to the public of the Giro, “Arrivederci” (goodbye).

All the Unreleased and New Gear We Spotted at Unbound Gravel

Unbound gravel has become a showcase of new tech, as well as a proving ground for gear that's still in development..

Unbound Gravel was already indisputably the most important event in gravel racing before 2024. This year, the race’s significance took another massive step forward in the gear department: unreleased and brand new bikes, components, and even a new groupset were everywhere.

The epic gravel event in many ways is becoming gravel’s equivalent to Paris-Roubaix or the Tour de France for road gear. Brands, athletes, and fans all have their eyes on Emporia. Couple that with the harsh conditions of Unbound and it’s both one of the best proving grounds for prototype tech, and a perfect showcase for the latest gear to be announced.

We saw quite a few interesting pieces of tech out on course and around Emporia in the lead up to the race, both stuff brands probably wanted us to see, and some that was a bit more under wraps. Here’s the best of the new gear.

Sram 13-speed drivetrain.

SRAM wasn’t the first major component brand to go to 13-speed cassettes — that honor goes to Campagnolo a few years back with Ekar — but it might be the first to do it for an electronic group.

Several athletes, including Keegan Swenson and Sofia Gomez Villafañe were spotted with a new group that looked, frankly, a heck of a lot like the just-released 12-speed Red group, with the key difference being a rear cassette pushing things to a baker’s dozen cogs.

Unreleased Trek gravel bike

We weren’t able to get particularly close with a camera, but Torbjørn Andre Røed was riding what appeared to be a new Trek gravel bike en route to finishing 11th.

We don’t have much intel on the bike, though it has an integrated, aerodynamically shaped one-piece handlebar-stem, appears to do away with the brand’s road-smoothing Isospeed decoupler technology in the front (as did the most recent Domane endurance/all-road model ), and looks intended as more of an aggressive race focused model than the current Trek Checkpoint gravel bike.

Prototype Giant gravel bike

Giant wasn’t exactly trying to fly under the radar with its new bike in Emporia; the brand’s marketing team was happy to show it to us and talk about the fact that it exists and is coming soon. Further details were sparse, however.

This one was raced by Brendan Johnston and features prototype graphics and parts. It has downtube storage and an integrated one-piece cockpit, which have both become ubiquitous features on high-end gravel race bikes. The sloping geometry is a trademark Giant look. And the tube shapes appear to have aerodynamics on the mind.

The final product available to consumers will feature different component spec, but you can bet that this frameset, three years in the making, will look pretty similar on shop floors.

Prototype Allied “test mule” gravel bike

No, we didn’t mess up the export settings on this image — that logo is really backwards in real life.

Taylor Lideen was riding this Allied “test mule” frame in Unbound XL. The brand makes bikes in Arkansas, allowing them to test a variety of prototypes as they move toward new production models. What better testing ground than 350 miles of Kansas gravel?

Allied has the geometry figures written on the bottom of the downtube, showing that the bike truly is in a testing phase at the moment.

Hydration bladder skinsuits from Rapha, Rule28, and Castelli

You may have noticed a hydration reservoir hose dangling over the shoulder of men’s 200 winner Lachlan Morton . That’s not an unusual site these days as most elite riders have adopted the packs in a quest to stop less and stay properly fueled.

What was odd was the lack of shoulder straps for said pack, or a pack at all for that matter. That’s because there wasn’t one. Morton and other Rapha athletes like Sarah Sturm and Keegan Swenson were riding in special skinsuits with integrated hydration reservoirs, a cool bit of aero integration. Unfortunately it’s for pro athletes only at the moment — our senior tech editor Josh Ross asked to try one to no avail, but he does have all the details here .

It appears a few brands had a similar idea all at once. Dylan Johnson was in an integrated bladder skinsuit from Rule28 while Nathan Haas appeared to be in one from Castelli .

Unreleased Fulcrum wheels

Fulcrum had a new set of wheels in the race under Mattia de Marchi who rode them to fifth place. They have an undulating, or sawtooth, mid section rim profile that we have seen from both Zipp and Princeton CarbonWorks that apparently helps provide the benefits of a deeper section wheelset while minimizing crosswind effects.

Coros Dura Computer

Amity Rockwell raced Unbound with a brand new Dura cycling computer from Coros . The brand is normally associated with running computers but has made the leap to cycling head units.

Apidura integrated aero bags

Apidura showed up at Unbound with a prototype aero gravel bag system,  a couple years ago. Then we didn’t hear from the brand about it again — until now. The brand showed off a more refined version of the same idea: aero bags that integrate seamlessly into a frame, making the bike more aero in the process.

'star trek's zachary quinto banned from restaurant after alleged meltdown on staff, 'star trek' actor zachary quinto spock allegedly went nuclear at restaurant ... banned until he says sorry.

Zachary Quinto allegedly had an epic fit in a Toronto restaurant 'cause he had to wait for a table, and the joint is still waiting for an apology ... enforcing a ban until they get one.

Here's the deal ... the 'Star Trek' actor was name-dropped by an eatery called Manita -- who claimed he was an awful customer to their staff recently ... with ZQ allegedly yelling at workers because he wasn't able to sit down and eat as quickly as he wanted.

They wrote, "Zachary Quinto - an amazing Spock, but a terrible customer." The restaurant went on to claim he made their host cry and the rest of the brunch diner uncomfortable.

Manita also said he could "take your bad vibes somewhere else," and TMZ has learned they 100% mean that ... as sources with direct knowledge tell us he's persona non grata at their establishment until he says sorry, which we're told has yet to come ... and they're waiting.

In terms of what Zach allegedly said ... our sources say he uttered phrases like "You're going to f****ing skip me?" And also firmly pointed out it was his "f***ing birthday."

In fact, we're told by sources there that he was so pissed, he was shaking before he left in a huff. Our sources say he came back a few minutes later and continued to bitch at the manager ... and we're told the notion he made a staffer cry is absolutely correct.

Our sources say Manita has gotten no word from Zachary/his reps about this. Now, should the Vulcan dude want to live long and dine there again someday ... he better apologize ... which we're told would absolutely be accepted. Otherwise, he can beam elsewhere.

Z did post a picture of himself enjoying a birthday dessert to his IG Story, but we're told it was taken at a spot down the street from Manita ... so he found another place to celebrate.

We've reached out to Z's reps for a response. So far, no word back.
