Hailing from Seattle, Washington, USA, The Classic Crime are a rock band that formed in 2004. The quartet have released four studio albums, beginning with “Albatross”, their 2006 debut effort.

The term “Christian band” seems to have a lot in common with what we understand of the term “emo band” nowadays. This is because the vast majority of bands called “Christian bands” don’t consider themselves to be one at all, just as most bands considered “emo” after 2004 would have sacrificed their drummers to be called anything else. The Classic Crime are a perfect example of this, even if a lot of the evidence isn’t exactly in their favour.

The seeds of the band were sewn with the friendship of their first drummer Justin DuQue, and their guitarist Paul “Skip” Erickson. They were friends in their hometown of Wenatchee, Washington, and both of them moved to northern Seattle to attend university together. It was there that they met bass player Alan Clarke and the trio decided to form a band. They put an ad in the local paper for singers and the last person to answer turned out to be the perfect fit, Matt MacDonald was asked to join the band during his first audition.

Lead guitarist Robert "Cheeze" Negrin joined the band soon afterwards and The Classic Crime were formed. They were together for a year and a half before the band signed to Tooth and Nail records, and that’s when the “Christian band” label starts to fit. Y’see, Tooth and Nail are one of the most respected Christian rock labels around, who’ve put out records by proudly Christian acts like Underoath and MxPx.

Most of the band members are also devoutly religious themselves, and it was this label that the band began to see as a burden on themselves, inspiring the title of their debut album “Albatross”. Fortunately, the band the success to stand on their own two feet, the album sold 4000 copies in its first week, which had the highest first week sales for any album released on Tooth and Nail until Underoath released their fifth album a month later.

Since then the band have had the talent, work ethic and sheer creativity to transcend any label they might be given. They’ve toured with everyone from Anberlin to Owl City and have had two highly succesful Kickstarter backed records released since they left Tooth and Nail in 2011. Clearly, this is a band in their prime, and one that any rock fan will be proud to have around. Highly recommended.

This festival atmosphere is a 9/10 on this hot summers day as the grass area before the stage starts to fill up. The anticipation is huge as The Classic Crime, the Seattle alt. rockers from Washington walk out on stage to epic opening music.

This band really built their name up whilst riding the wave that was MySpace. This midday set is all about the four full-length albums that they have released over the last decade. They wow the crowd with the opening riffery of the track “Solar Powered Life”, and then altogether as a band join the audience in jumping simultaneously, making the ground shake. “A Perfect Voice” is the track that builds this electric atmosphere right up to the 10/10 that they set out on this stage for this afternoon. The band give a load of thanks for their latest album, “Phoenix” which was a huge kickstarter success. They set out looking for $30,000, but amassed $86,278 in the end. They make it very clear that they owe each song to the adoring fans as they launch in to “Glass Houses”

The Classic Crime were fantastic!

It was very nice to see Justin back. That allowed Matt to concentrate on singing. They sounded tight, and were very professional when some of the venue's equipment failed. Skip called for an intermission whilst the sound engineer reset some things.

As always the band was very friendly, and conversed with fans. It's no surprise why The Classic Crime has been my favorite band for 10 years running, since I first saw them at the Avalon.

One of the best shows I've been to! Flew from Denver to Little Rock for this show and do not regret it! It was amazing, The Classic Crime has a great stage presence and energy!

About the classic crime.

The Classic Crime is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington formed in 2004. The band's current lineup consists of Matt MacDonald (vocals, guitar), Alan Clark (bass), Robert "Cheeze" Negrin (guitar), and Paul "Skip" Erickson (drums, vocals). They have released three albums and an EP on Tooth & Nail Records, two of which, The Silver Cord (2008) and Vagabonds (2010), charted in the Billboard 200. In July 2011, the band left Tooth & Nail to produce a fourth album with the help of fan donations via Kickstarter, called Phoenix (2012). In April 2016, The Classic Crime created a Kickstarter to raise funds for a fifth studio album. Within three hours they acquired the necessary $30,000 for the album. On April 28th, 2017 they released their fifth studio album titled How to Be Human(2017).

Unfortunately they went downhill after their acoustic ep. but this album is one of my favourites

Cameron Young, top-ranked golfer coming to 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic, shoots 59

Cameron Young will be coming to Detroit for the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic in a few days after a historic round.

Young, top-ranked player in next week's PGA Tour stop at the Detroit Golf Club, carded the 13th-ever sub-60 round on the PGA Tour, posting an 11-under-par 59 on Saturday in the third round of the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut at TPC River Highlands. He's the 12th player to shoot 59 or better on Tour after making seven birdies and two eagles.

It's the lowest round on Tour in almost four years.

Jim Furyk shot a 12-under 58 in 2016 at the Travelers Championship, the lowest round ever on the PGA Tour.

Young only hit six of 14 fairways, but stuck 15 greens in regulation, was 3-for-3 scrambling and made an astounding 115 feet, 11 inches worth of putts on just 24 putts, according to the Tour .

Young started the day tied for 43rd at 2 under par, but finished the afternoon as the co-leader with Tom Kim — who had yet to tee off — at 13-under. (Kim, the No. 26 player in the world, is also in the 156-player field for the Rocket Mortgage Classic .)

Young went 4-under 31 on the back nine, including an eagle on the par-4 drivable 15th, which saw his long iron bounce short of the green but run up to the front pin hole location to 4 feet.

Young, 27, missed a 7½-foot birdie on the par-3 16th , but birdied the par-4 17th from 5½ feet after sticking an iron shot over the water from 162 yards. That allowed him a chance for 58 if he could birdie No. 18.

He missed the fairway and came up short of the green, but got up-and-down by rolling in a nervy, sliding 10-footer to secure 59.

"It was a little bit tricky there at the end," he said on CBS. "I feel like it would have been one of the worst 60s ever shot, given the few chances that I had kind of on the back nine. Thankful that that putt went in on 18, but I definitely really had a chance all day (to shoot 59) even though it didn't feel like it necessarily for a few holes there."

Young shot 7-under 28 on the front nine, including a hole-out eagle on No. 3 from 142 yards, as he started birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie on his first four holes.

He benefitted from a wet course from Friday's rains, which forced organizers to institute the "lift, clean and place" rule for the third round.

Young, who played with Jordan Spieth on Saturday, had posted 10 consecutive rounds of par or worse before shooting 4-under 66 on Friday after a 72 in Round 1.

Young is ranked the 23rd player in the world, but has yet to win on Tour since his debut in 2019, despite seven career runner-up finishes, including in the 2022 Open Championship to Cameron Smith. Young was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year that season.

Young finished in a tie for second in the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic, five strokes behind winner Tony Finau.

Young will have a chance to get his first win Sunday in Connecticut, before coming west to Detroit ahead of Thursday's first round for his 69th career start on Tour.
