Try these safari cards:
1. box card.
Create a happy home for your safari animals in this pop-up box with cut-out leaves, grass and trees.
- Using the box card template , cut the box design out of kraft card. Matt and layer the flaps with green card and leaf print printables.
- Cut two 2.5 x 11cm strips of green card. Score a 1cm-wide tab on either side of both. Put double-sided tape along the tabs. Attach inside your box, at 2cm intervals from the front, and approx. 1.5cm down from the top.
- Cut some grass for the front of your box card. Snip randomly into a strip of green paper, or die cut strips of grass using the Funky Floral die set. Attach using PVA glue inside the front and back of the box, so that tufts are poking out.
- Fussy cut a lion, crown, large tree, medium tree and monkey. Pierce a hole through the monkey’s paw, and attach to the large tree using a brad.
- Position the elements inside the box card as desired. Finish by backing the ‘Go Wild’ sentiment onto a die-cut circle and attach using acetate.
2. Hear me roar!
Tuck foliage behind a stitched aperture and hide a tiger among the grass for an on-safari feel! Hide loose ends by adding a frame over the top of the aperture.
3. Circle of life
Cut circles in the design for your safari animals to pop through and say hello! Tuck leaves and foliage behind the circles for added jungle vibes.

Take a journey to the African continent with my latest do-a-dot pack featuring intrepid safari adventurers and plenty of wild animals! My Safari Do-a-Dot Printables will delight children ages 2-6 while also supporting the development of important early skills.
My Safari Do-a-Dot Printables pack contains 18 pages of do-a-dot worksheets featuring animals and people on an adventurous safari. As kids complete these worksheets, they will work on one-to-one correspondence, shapes, colors, patterning, letters, and numbers.
The activities in my Safari Do-a-Dot Printables pack are designed to be completed using do-a-dot markers .
The thick size of do-a-dot markers makes them easy for little hands to grasp, so do-a-dot markers are wonderful for young children who have not yet developed the fine motor skills to use a pencil or crayon. However, do-a-dot markers can certainly be enjoyed by older kids as well.
What should you do if you do not own do-a-dot markers? Obviously you can purchase them, but there are still plenty of ways to enjoy my Safari Do-a-Dot Printables without do-a-dot markers. In this post I’ve shared lots of ways to use do-a-dot printables to support your children’s learning, with plenty of ideas for kids from toddlers through elementary school.
Here is a sneak peak at the activities included in my Safari Do-a-Dot Printables pack:
The activities in this pack cover a range of skills, which means that these do-a-dot worksheets are likely to appeal to toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary students. Plus, if you borrow some ideas from my post on 15+ ideas for using do-a-dot printables for learning , you may find ways to use these printables with even older kids!

Safari Animals Printable Stick Puppets
These FREE safari animals printable stick puppets are really simple for little ones to make. Just print onto card, colour, cut out and stick onto a craft stick! There are six animals included in this set: giraffe, lion, zebra, hippo, rhino and gorilla.
Of course, no safari would be complete without an elephant, crocodile or monkey – you can find those animals in my free Jungle Animals Stick Puppets set!
You can use the stick puppets to teach vocabulary, act out simple dialogues or plays, or as an easy arts and crafts activity. They also go really well with the book Rumble in the Jungle !
Don’t forget to check out my other fun JUNGLE & SAFARI ANIMALS resources – see the end of the post for more.
How you can use the safari animals printable stick puppets in class:
- You can use the stick puppets instead of flashcards to teach children the names of the animals. Prepare a set of stick puppets before class. Depending on the age and level of your students you may want to use all of the animals, or choose to use less. For durability you may also like to laminate them ( tip: for the craft stick to adhere better to a laminated surface, stick a strip of double sided sticky tape to the laminated card before applying glue )
- Show the children the stick puppets one by one. Teach them the name of each animal and ask them to do an action or sound for that animal. For example: giraffe (stretch arms over head) , lion (roar) , rhino (put hand on forehead to make a horn shape) , hippo (roll – as if rolling in mud) , gorilla (thump chest with two hands) , zebra (gallop using hands, or clip-clop sound) .
- Have children make their own puppets. They can make all six animals (print page 2 of the download), or choose to make only one. I have also included pages with multiple copies of each animal, so if you want all your kids to make lions, for example, you need only print that page.
- Play a simple game. Make sure each child has a stick puppet then say the colour of one of the animals, for example “I’m black and white!” Encourage the child or children with the zebra to move the puppet up and down. Repeat with the other animals. Depending on the age and level of your kids you can make this game more complicated by saying, for example “I’ve got big teeth!” (lion) , or “I’ve got a long neck!” (giraffe)
- Encourage children to make their animal puppets “talk” to each other. One idea is to sit in a circle with the children and use the hippo stick puppet to say, for example, “ Hallo, Zebra! ” to the puppet of the child sitting next to you. That child makes his or her puppet reply “ Hallo, Hippo! ” to your puppet. They then turn to the child next to them and do the same, all around the circle. You can make the language/dialogues as simple or as complicated as you like, depending on the age and level of your kids. For example “ Hallo, Zebra, how are you? ” “ I’m fine, thanks, Hippo! ” or “ Hallo, Giraffe! Do you like leaves? ” “ Yes, I do! ”

Safari Animals Seek-n-Find Activity
Sharing is caring!
Here is a fun Safari Animals Seek-n-Find printable activity for preschool and early elementary-aged kids. Grab this fun activity for free.
Because my 5-year-old loves it when I make printable activities for him to work on, I’ve been using the extra time to put together fun learning activities for him to work on.
Today, I put together this Safari Animals Seek-n-Find activity, and I am thrilled to share it with you.
How to Use the Safari Animals Seek-n-Find Activity
Simply download and print out the worksheet and give your child a pencil, pen, or marker.
Next, encourage your student to take a close look at the page and identify each of the animals. Once they’ve identified them all, challenge them to count how many of each animal are present.
This Safari Animal I-spy page isn’t just about identifying animals, though – it’s also a great way to develop children’s counting and observation skills!
Have your little learner carefully count the number of each animal.
At the bottom of the page, each animal is accompanied by a line for your children to note how many of that particular animal they find on the page.
This activity allows your child to practice honing their number sense and building their attention to detail. It is the perfect match for learning and fun.
The Safari Animals Seen-n-Find is a fun way for children to practice counting and observation skills.
The printable can even be used at a jungle or safari-themed birthday party.
