VILLE VALO Announces April/May 2024 European Tour

And so ends a new beginning. Nine short months have passed since "Neon Noir" cast its goth-inflected enchantments on the world. As a record, it was more than twelve wrought-iron statements of intent. It marked a triumphant return of HIM frontman Ville Valo to the live stage, and the ensuing seasons have seen His Infernal Majesty summoning a long dormant worldwide flock with a bold new testament to his rare ability to craft timeless melodies that speak powerfully to matters of the heart.

But while VV 's glorious second act has already seen its share of brilliant highlights, it now emerges that some of its brightest moments are yet to come. More importantly, it has been announced that they will not shine forever.

Hot on the heels of a rapturously received "Neon Noir" tour and a current U.S. run with BLACK VEIL BRIDES comes a new slew of dates which will include the return of legendary, Valo -curated New Year's bash Helldone Festival on December 31. It will also see VV making a historic, headlining appearance at one of the most prestigious and revered music venues in the world: London's Royal Albert Hall on May 10, 2024.

As the artist formerly of the band HIM now reveals, these are more than mere upcoming appearances. Not only will they mark the end of "Neon Noir" 's touring cycle. They will also herald the end of Ville Valo's latest reincarnation.

He says: "The idea behind VV and 'Neon Noir' was to symbolically finish what HIM started, and after the bangs and whimpers at the Royal Albert Hall, it's time to reshuffle the pieces of the puzzle once again and give Herbert West a shout." As for what might come next, well — that's a mystery, for now. "I had no expectations whatsoever when releasing music under the banner of VV , so I've been quite shocked to see people still find my kind of racket enjoyable, warts and all. Touring has been way less painful than I dared to hope, and as we say in Finland, it fits my arse like a glove. A mourning glove from a bygone era."

Tickets for the "Neon Noir" 2024 tour go on general sale on Friday, September 15.

Valo played his first solo concert in the U.S. under the VV banner on March 31 at TLA (Theatre For The Living Arts) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Joining Ville on stage as part of his backing band are Mikko Virta on guitar, Risto Rikala on drums, Sampo Sundström on guitar and Juho Vehmanen on bass.

VV 's debut album, "Neon Noir" , was made available on January 13 via Heartagram Records , distributed by UMG / Spinefarm .

In April 2022, Valo released the first single from "Neon Noir" , a song called "Loveletting" , which marked his first new music in over two years, following the release of the three-track "Gothica Fennica Vol. 1" EP, also released under the VV banner, in March 2020.

Like "Neon Noir" , "Gothica Fennica Vol. 1" bore a strong musical resemblance to HIM and featured the tracks "Salute The Sanguine" , "Run Away From The Sun" and "Saturnine Saturnalia" .

HIM completed a farewell tour in 2017, closing the final chapter on the band's 26-year career.

Formed in 1991 by Valo , guitarist Mikko "Linde" Lindström and bassist Mikko "Migé" Paananen , HIM offered the world a new take on the metal genre, which became known as "love metal" (also the title of their fourth album).

VV Announces 2023 Headline Tour

North America Tickets on Sale Starting Friday, April 15 at 10AM Local at LiveNation.com

Today,  VV  (also known as  Ville Valo ) announced his 2023 headline tour of Europe, the UK and North America. The North American leg of the tour, produced by Live Nation, kicks off on April 1st, 2023 in Philadelphia, PA at Theatre of Living Arts, making stops across the U.S. in Boston, Phoenix, Los Angeles and more before wrapping up in New York, NY on May 8th, 2023 at Irving Plaza.

The news comes following the announcement of the release of his new single, “ Loveletting ,” which comes out  April 8 th  under the VV banner. “Loveletting” is taken from VV’s forthcoming debut album,  Neon Noir , which is scheduled for release early 2023.

TICKETS:  Tickets to shows across Europe will go on sale Monday, April 11th at 10am CET. Tickets for the North American leg will go on sale Friday, April 15th at 10am local at  livenation.com .

In the annals of 21st century alternative rock history, there are few artists who cast a longer or more peculiar shadow than Finnish Love Metal pioneer Ville Valo. After all, his band HIM were easily among the most iconic and idiosyncratic groups of the millennium. Zealously revered, gleefully reviled but impossible to ignore, their music left an indelible mark on a worldwide legion of fans. The scarlet letters stood for His Infernal Majesty. Their founder stood for something delightedly out of step with the status quo. “We only hoped to temporarily redirect hard rock’s blood flow from the nether regions towards the heart”, reminisces Ville Valo, the singer, songwriter and primus motor of HIM. Judging by the monolithic presence of the Heartagram in any account of music this side of the millennium it’s apparent that he succeeded.

Inspired by everyone from Poe to Bukowski and tinged by a penchant for perfumed Sabbathian gloom, Valo’s creative lovechild would produce eight era-defining studio releases and over ten million record sales, not forgetting a Grammy nomination, countless magazine covers, critical acclaim, and the veneration of a generation. Thus, it came as no surprise that the news of a farewell tour in 2017 was greeted with shock and disbelief among devotees and endless speculation as to what or who was to take up the velvet mantle…

Ville Valo to bring Neon Noir cycle to an end with massive world tour

HIM’s legendary Ville Valo is saying goodbye to VV with a huge 2024 tour, which finishes up at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall in May.

Ville Valo has announced that he’ll soon be moving on from his VV solo project, and the Neon Noir album cycle.

Having launched VV to great acclaim in 2022 , and shared his 4/5-rated album back in January , Ville has now revealed that an upcoming world tour – which runs up to next May – will conclude this particular chapter of his musical life.

In the annals of 21st century alternative rock history there are few artists who cast a longer or more peculiar shadow than Finnish Love Metal pioneer Ville Valo. After all, his band HIM were easily among the most iconic and idiosyncratic groups of the millenium. Zealously revered, gleefully reviled but impossible to ignore, their music left an indelible mark on a worldwide legion of fans. The scarlet letters stood for His Infernal Majesty. Their founder stood for something delightedly out of step with the status quo. 

“We only hoped to temporarily redirect hard rock’s blood flow from the nether regions towards the heart”, reminisces Ville Valo, the singer, songwriter and primus motor of HIM. Judging by the monolithic presence of the Heartagram in any account of music this side of the millennium it’s apparent that he succeeded. 

Inspired by everyone from Poe to Bukowski and tinged by a penchant for perfumed Sabbathian gloom, Valo’s creative lovechild would produce eight era-defining studio releases and over ten million record sales, not forgetting a Grammy nomination, countless magazine covers, critical acclaim, and the veneration of a generation. Thus it came as no surprise that the news of a farewell tour in 2017 was greeted with shock and disbelief among devotees and endless speculation as to what or who was to take up the velvet mantle.

“As fun as the funeral rites for HIM were, it took me more than a few moons to lick my wounds in the shadow of the Heartagram and come up with an excuse to strum and hum again. Eventually I decided put a leash on my beloved black dog and we started howling together instead of barking at each other. That’s how Loveletting was born”.

Loveletting, the first single off VV’s debut album ‘Neon Noir’ out in early 2023, suggests this new infernal mix of light and shade is nothing short of a landmark release from one of modern music’s most distinctive and intriguing voices. It belongs to the same forlorn world of woe and whimsy once conceived and governed by Valo in HIM, but with the nuanced notes of a fine aged Cabernet.

“Artistically speaking the main difference between HIM and VV is the extra line in the Heartagram, but what an exquisite line it is! It’s the Mamas and the Papas dressed up as Metallica on their way to a Halloween bash at the Studio 54, and now who wouldn’t want to witness that?”
