Naomi Raine, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Natalie Grant & TAYA Announce It’s Time Tour

This Spring, the powerhouse women of Gospel and Christian music are coming together for a must-see worship experience. Kicking off on Tuesday, April 25 at James L. Knight Center in Miami, FL. GRAMMY-winning artists Naomi Raine and Tasha Cobbs Leonard , 9x GRAMMY-nominee Natalie Grant and globally renowned vocalist TAYA will join together for It’s Time Tour 2023.

It’s Time will visit 21 cities across the U.S. including Atlanta, New York and Houston. Fans can expect to see solo performances from each artist. The co-headliners will also share the stage for a few songs each night.

Pre-sale for tickets begins Tuesday, January 17 at 10 AM local time with public on-sale starting on Friday, January 20th at 10am local. For pre-sale tickets, visit ticketmaster.com/artist/2965964 .

“It’s Time is an expression of worship in beauty and strength with some of the purest female worship leaders of our time,” says Naomi Raine. “I’m humbled to be a part of this movement that hopefully continues to fuel this generation toward extravagant worship. Women are pillars in their communities and families and my prayer is that this would empower women to go after God with everything they have. My life was changed in an environment much like the one we will be in every night of the tour. Hoping people come out to be equipped and inspired.”

Naomi Raine was named a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch and is known as one of the most powerful voices in the gospel genre. She released her solo album ‘ Journey ’ last July and made appearances at the BET Awards, NPR’s Tiny Desk, The View and more as a member of Maverick City Music, with whom she is currently nominated for five GRAMMY Awards. She headlined The Root 100 gala honoring Black Excellence at Harlem’s iconic Apollo Theater and is set to announce a debut solo live worship album in the coming weeks.

How it all started

What better time to start the NAOMI BOUTIQUE KOSHER TOURS blog. REMEMBERING and celebrating 40 years of uncompromising KOSHER touring. 40 years developing and indulging an insatiable passion to see the world as a kosher Jew… without feeling we were missing out!!

This is how it all started…..

But first, let me introduce the actors in this story…. Ourselves!!

Naomi Goldberg (nee Bor) age unknown born in Manchester, UK. Chef and lifestyle guru for the kosher world, founder of Naomi Catering in Jerusalem in 1987!!! Slave/driver husband Eric Goldberg , age known, from Manchester, UK. Failed lawyer. Children Zeev ( + Yael), Yoel (+ Ofra), Leora (+Avihu), Maya (+Arieh): all dedicated travelers.

And all good people, Baruch Hashem!!

So as I was saying… our love affair with travel, and particularly with Italy, oh poor beloved suffering Italy, started somewhat shakily.

Shavuot 1980

Naomi’s parents invite us to join them with 9-month old Zeev, their first grandson for Shavuot in Tuscany. Kosher package in the elegant Principe di Piemonte hotel, facing the sea, in Viareggio.

Wow – what an opportunity!! So we arrived erev yomtov, settled in to our rooms and headed off to shul. Yes, back in the day there was an active shul in Viareggio, a beautiful tiny “shtiebl” made entirely out of marble carved from the nearby hills of Carrara just to the north. For those who know the region, yes, it’s the same place that Michelangelo came to choose the block of marble from which to carve his incredible David statue.

So far, so good. Back to the hotel and into the dining room. We couldn’t see many others who were obviously celebrating chag so we told the maître d’ that we were part of the kosher “group”.

“Va bene” (all right) he intones as we are shown to our perfectly set yom tov dinner table. The sing song of even just 2 words in Italian raised our spirits.

There were starched white cloths and napkins folded by a master napkin-folder, clearly trained by Modigliani. The candles flickered in their crystal candlesticks, the silverware was so polished it could be used as a reversing mirror in a Ferrari. The glasses sparkled so brightly that you had to cover your eyes to avoid being blinded.

We were in Gan Eden!!

Locally produced wine with appropriate Hebrew and Italian on the label arrives.

Rolls are brought, piled in silver baskets lined with yet more starched napkins, this time folded into the shape of a lotus flower. Plates with geometrically rolled butter portions. Yay, a chalavi meal. Salt, pepper, a personal bottle of oil by each place setting. we’re ready to go!

Kiddush, Hamotzi and we indicate to our new friend the maître d’ that we are primed!! He clicks to some of his team to place the napkins on our knees as others glide in from “la cucina” with steaming hot plates of pasta, placed in front of each of us with synchronized movements worthy of Swan Lake.

Pasta!! The smell of the fresh basil leaves still lingers today.

But then , before anyone had even raised their forks (as we were half waiting to be fed), Naomi’s 10 year old brother breaks the expectant silence, pointing to his plate, shouts at the top of the voice; “What’s on the pasta?” Shhh … everyone tried to introduce the child to some Italian decorum. As we learned years later, eating in Italy is their holiest activity, accompanied by a slew of “mitzvot and minhagim”. The moment before indulging is when one inhales the aromas, swills the wine or admires the edible creation on one’s plate. Silence. Definitely no-one shouts!!

But the damage was done and we all started to focus on the tiny pink cubes sprinkled liberally above the creamy sauce. Diced tomatoes? Peppers? Despite the multitudinous years of culinary experience between the group, no-one could be sure.

“Signor, cos'è questo sulla pasta?” I hate it when I speak to someone in my best sing-song expertly accented Italian and they insist on answering in English.

“Sir it is em”.

“Yes we cook it and then cut it into tiny pieces for taste and decoration, em!!”

“Really?!?! Where does the “em” come from?”

“From the maiale … you know … oink oink”, indicating a round snout on his nose.

Clearing my throat and trying not to let him see the sweat collecting on my brow… and beyond… I said; “Could I possibly have a word with the Mashgiach?”

“Ah, so sorry sir but the Mashgiach didn’t make it in time. But sir you mustn’t worry. We know all the kosher rules. Not to mix meat and dairy, all meat must be kosher, no frutti di mare.”

“So this is... Ham?”, I stammered, wondering at what level of over-excitement 25-year-olds have heart attacks.

“Yes sir, this is not meat. This is just a little “em” to make your first meal in our hotel exceptional”, all accompanied by a smile that went from the Mediterranean to the Adriatic on the other side of the “boot”.

And at that moment I understood.

These Italian people were good people and incredible hosts and wanted to go the extra mile to make their guests happy. So the Mashgiach didn’t arrive… why let the guests know and upset them? And chef knows what to do…. we’ve done it before…. so what’s the problem?

All the maître had to do was lick his lips, kiss his gathered fingers and say “magnifico” and everything would be alright.

And then I learned another lesson. Getting upset NEVER solves anything. Taking a deep breath does. If the Creator created this situation it was for our benefit. Think POSITIVE. It’s Yom Tov!!

Within 5 minutes Naomi was in the kitchen. New frying pans, new pots, chopping boards, a team of sous-chefs, fresh fish with the skin on, unlimited vegetables, eggs, olive oil, fresh whatever we needed….

It was our first incredible stay in Italy but it inspired us. We fell madly in love with every centimeter of the region, especially with Lucca, 20 minutes inland. It changed our lives forever. If you read on, you’ll see how….

Eight of the world's Top 10 players will head to Berlin, Germany for the ecotrans Ladies Open, this year's first WTA 500 grass-court tournament. The German capital has been hosting the significant stop in the grass-court swing since 2021.

Here are the facts and figures you need to know about the 2024 ecotrans Ladies Open:

When does the tournament start?

Main-draw action at the week-long event kicks off on Monday, June 17 and continues through Sunday, June 23.

The qualifying rounds take place the weekend before, Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16.

Grass season: Tournament schedule, entry lists and what you need to know

Rankings watch: gauff overtakes sabalenka at no.2; paolini into the top 10, swiatek withdraws from grass-court event in berlin, how big are the fields.

The singles main draw boasts a 28-player field, with the top four seeds receiving first-round byes. 18 players receive direct entry, with six qualifiers and four wild cards completing the singles field.

The doubles main draw consists of 16 teams, including two wild-card pairings.

The Slazenger Wimbledon ball will be used at the event.

Who were last year's champions?

Petra Kvitova won her 31st career singles title (sixth on grass) with a 6–2, 7–6(6) win over Donna Vekic in last year's Berlin final. Two-time Wimbledon champion Kvitova will not be back to defend her title, as she is pregnant and on maternity leave.

Caroline Garcia and Luisa Stefani won last year's Berlin doubles title by defeating Katerina Siniakova and Marketa Vondrousova 4–6, 7–6(8), [10–4]. Garcia and Stefani saved three match points in the second-set tiebreak before hoisting the trophy.

Former World No.1 players Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber have received wild cards into the main draw.

Beyond the eight projected seeded players, the other direct entries into the main draw include: Daria Kasatkina, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Liudmila Samsonova, Marta Kostyuk, and Victoria Azarenka.

Both Roland Garros finalists, World No.1 Iga Swiatek and World No.7 Jasmine Paolini, withdrew from the event on Wednesday. Emma Navarro and Anna Kalinskaya took their places as direct entries into the main draw.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova withdrew on Thursday due to a continuing wrist injury. Linda Noskova took her place as a main-draw direct entry.

The former Berlin champions in the field are Ons Jabeur (2022) and Liudmila Samsonova (2021).

A ndy Roddick has heaped praise on Naomi Osaka for her aggressive scheduling in the ongoing 2024 tennis season. The former ATP World No. 1 also lauded the Japanese's recent displays on clay and grass, two surfaces that have proved cumbersome for Osaka in the past.

Naomi Osaka's tennis comeback at the start of this season after her maternity leave initially got off to a tepid start. The Japanese, unsurprisingly rusty after almost a year out of the sport, struggled to find her rhythm across multiple tournaments, which resulted in several early exits. However, there have been recent instances that indicate the four-time Grand Slam winner's slow but sure progress.

Arguably the most striking of those came in the second round of the 2024 French Open, where Naomi Osaka squared off against eventual champion Iga Swiatek. For the most part of the match, the Japanese seemed in command, going toe-to-toe with the Pole, a rarity on the WTA Tour. She even had a match point in the third and deciding set. Unfortunately for her, Swiatek won five games on the spin to clinch the match 7-6(1), 1-6, 7-5.

The Japanese has also shown promising signs on grass, where she reached the quarterfinals of the Libema Open before losing to Bianca Andreescu . Recently, Roddick assessed Osaka's form going into the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The 2003 US Open winner commended Osaka's decision to play at back-to-back tournaments, saying that she rarely used to do the same even when she was the WTA World No. 1.

"Listen, she's coming back. My favorite thing is that she's scheduling aggressively. She played last week, she played this week. She's never done that in her entire career or even when she was peak Osaka. And I think we're starting to see those moments of that high level from Naomi. Obviously, the errors are coming a little bit more often than they did when she was in her prime," Roddick said during an appearance on Tennis Channel .

The 41-year-old also expressed confidence about Osaka's performances on both clay and grass so far this year.

"Also, I think she's making this progress on surfaces that she doesn't really like, that aren't natural to her. On the clay, we saw her giving Swiatek hell in the French Open. (She was) the only one who was on the same stratosphere as her (Swiatek) for two hours of that tournament. And then I like what she's doing on the grass," Roddick added.

However, Osaka's latest outing at the German Open, a grasscourt WTA 500 event, resulted in a 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 first-round loss against Zheng Qinwen.

Kim Clijsters, a former WTA World No. 1 in both singles and doubles, recently featured as a guest on an episode of the Served With Andy Roddick podcast. Here, she found similarities between Naomi Osaka and Thibaut Courtois , Real Madrid's Belgian goalkeeper.

Courtois missed the majority of the 2023-2024 season for Real Madrid with multiple injuries. However, he came back in time for the UEFA Champions League final, where he was a surprise starter. The Belgian produced several crucial saves in the final against Borussia Dortmund, helping Madrid to its 15th Champions League title.

According to Clijsters, Naomi Osaka's situation is somewhat similar to that of Courtois, even though the Japanese's long absence on the WTA Tour stemmed from her pregnancy.

"(Courtois) had surgery, took him a while. Came back. Had to have another surgery and he didn't play the whole season. Ended up playing the Champions League final and played incredible. So we were texting at times and he's like, 'Yeah, I'm going to see how I feel when I get back out there,' and I'm like, 'You'll be fine. You'll remember it like this'. And I feel like it's the same with Osaka. Yes it's taken her a little bit of time, but physically, once you've put the time in, the habits and the routines...like she hasn't been away from the game long enough to say, 'Oh it's going to take a long time for me to recover,'," Clijsters said.

Parker Finn ‘s “Smile” was an unexpected runaway success when it hit theaters in 2022, grossing over $200 million worldwide on a $17 million budget. It was the kind of event that’s only possible in the horror genre, where a clever premise — in this case, people becoming infected with murderous impulses and creepy grins after watching someone else die in front of them — and strong word of mouth can drive a film to massive success without major stars involved.

The official synopsis reads: “About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.”

Lukas Gage, Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Gallner, Ray Nicholson, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, and Dylan Gelula co-star.

The film is produced by writer/director Finn, Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, and Robert Salerno.

Many horror fans viewed “Smile” as a refreshing change of pace from a genre that had increasingly relied on heavy stories and slow pacing. During a 2022 interview with IndieWire , Finn explained that he sought to walk the line by embracing the inherent silliness of the horror genre without wading into self-satire through techniques like embracing old fashioned jump scares.

“I wanted to make a film that was really craft-focused, that was creating an experience that was quite unique, that was also a character-driven story exploring the human condition, but was also going to make an audience jump out of their seat and scream a lot,” Finn said. “Some people will never love a jump scare, but I love a good jump scare. I wanted to infuse the film with jump scares that felt earned and were designed in a way that would keep an audience on their toes, sort of ramping up and changing how it’s scaring you.”

A singer, songwriter, and worship leader for Hillsong United, Taya was a church youth group leader before embarking on a music career in the early 2010s. According to TMZ , “Jackass” star Steve-O asked the Syracuse-born singer/rapper to give him a tattoo on his 50th birthday, and Posty obliged... by inking an image of a penis above the TV personality’s eye.

“If you can believe it, I’m getting my first face tattoo… but that will be the day after my birthday. Post Malone’s gonna tattoo a  d--- on my forehead . That’s the plan,” Steve said of the NSFW image.

It all went down at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, where Malone performed over the weekend, and served as a kickoff to Steve-O’s upcoming stand-up comedy tour. Video showed Malone, wearing gloves, looking a little shaky but managing to pull off decent art that will certainly make Steve-O’s long list of his most outrageous stunts.

“Now you’re stylin’!” Posty said. “You’re stylin’ boy, looks good!”

Malone, meanwhile, is doing really well — he’s No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the fifth straight week for his Morgan Wallen collaboration “I Had Some Help,” which is helping kick off his country era. Malone is also in the top 15 with “Fortnight,” his new song with Taylor Swift, and has just been named the headliner for the Global Citizen Festival in New York.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
